That particular merchant has been there since the introduction of Southsun, so the item you mention isn’t specifically tied to a one time event.
I realize this. And yes, everyone was awarded one after killing the Ancient Karka. You didn’t even address my question.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
in Southsun Cove, there is a merchant who sells the Ancient Karka Shell for 1000 Karka Shells. Can we expect to see more items that were originally tied to one-time events being purchasable down the road in the same manner?
I think it’s a good idea and would love to see more stuff like that in the future. I always get the 1-time items, but I’d love to get multiples for alts and if not even for that, having people get cool items that they weren’t around for is a good thing I think.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
Asked dev again, they said this is a progression bug but not a display bug. Meaning everything you do will be ignored by the game. They also mention this happens randomly, maybe you try again and you will get it.
That’s just plain BS. The event ends tomorrow and people aren’t getting achievements and their only advice is “well maybe try again you might get lucky”?
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
Last day to get the achievements. Stuck at 39/100. Picked up at least 30 in the last hour or so also won and didn’t get daily progression. I am hoping they extend this or something because if I miss out on a title because of bugged crap I will rage so hard.
My brother hasn’t been able to play the game much lately and he just won the crab toss. Didn’t get his title or his daily progress. Fun stuff. So glad it ends soon and these achievements and titles will be gone forever after.

Elona confirmed in the distant future
best news of this year
I hope for Cantha expansion too.
Where was this confirmed?
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
At the time of this post, Ectos are being sold for 18s 19c
Crystalline Dust is up to 40s +
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
The Dragon Bash I’m sure was planned. They had a yearly Dragon Festival in GW1 since the release of Cantha so I imagine this will be another recurring fun event.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
This event looks pretty fun. And it looks like almost every reward can be earned in-game rather than just RNG boxes. It’s a step in the right direction, keep it up Anet the event looks awesome.
Now just confirm we’ll see Cantha and I’ll be forever happy with you.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
Yep. Yet again they add cool new weapons that 90% or more of the players will never see. So glad they’re investing their time and money creating neat skins that almost the entire playerbase will never be able to use.
But it’s ok, we can keep using the same skins that are available level 1-80 (you know, the same basic greatsword, sword, wood shield, etc).
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
+1 on the idea for mounts in that post ^
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
Not sure if this is the right place to put this and I’m sorry if it’s not, but I joined a guild week 1 of the game launch because it had a great name and tag. Since the first month or so of the game being released, I have not seen 1 person log on to the guild since then.
There are 8 people in it, the guild message of the day (made by the leader) is a text version of the male anatomy and everyone’s location is “Unknown”. Is there a way I can sort of acquire this guild to actually make use of it?
As I said, it has 8 people in it and none of them have been online in the last 4 months or so. The guild has 472 influence and not a single upgrade purchased. I’ve seen this sorta thing happen in GW1 so I imagine it can be done in GW2 (re-acquisition of a 100% inactive guild).
Thanks, look forward to hearing a response.

1 Crystalline dust + 250 incandescent dust + 5 Philosopher’s Stone + 5 Crystals
Makes up to 40 Crystalline dust
You can even make a profit on it go to town lil buddy
Not to mention 250 of those dusts at the current price is a little over 7g,
I quit farming the day I noticed I was only getting one tier 6 mat per 2 hours. It seems like Anet is trying to make people play the game longer by stretching the time required to get the mats. Until the drop rates for tier 6 mats are raised, I’ll play some Mario or Zelda…. maybe even some WoW where I don’t have to forsake my friends and family for the pursuit of an endless torment of farming.
You don’t need to farm man. Remember their manifesto? Link provided in case you forgot.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FU1JUwPqzQYIn all seriousness though, it’s like they forgot they made that video. This game is turning out like NOTHING it was hyped to be. They nerf farming to prevent bots so that real plays need to bot or buy gold to get anything done in this game. What a joke.
Why do you feel that a legendary is required content?
Anet has said time and time again that going for a legendary which is not a required game item will take a lot of TIME.
If you are going for a legendary and not grinding to do it – it will take you a long time and that is completely intended. I bet you already have BIS gear for your character but you are confused by what anet ment in their manifesto. (and while legendary is BIS it is the same in stats as any exotic level 80 weapon)
If you are choosing, read choosing to grind you are trying to achieve that legendary in less time than someone would naturally get the resources for it regularly playing the game. It is again YOU that is choosing to grind for the legendary because you want it now. Legendary weapons were intended to take 6+ months of play to get. If you are getting it in less than that you are grinding for it – and that’s ok.
When did I say I felt that legendaries were required? I am not pursuing one nor have any interest in one, but the fact remains that it takes you 2 hours in Orr to get 1 Crystalline dust because of the DR blockers and overall nerf to drops. That’s not fun. That’s a pointless grind.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
Guild Leaders should be able to post messages to the Guild that automatically appear in the chat window when a player logs in.
Yeah there’s still tons of guild functionality that we’re missing I’m not sure the devs even remember about it though.

^ I really don’t think changing any of that would be necessary. They may need to stick to a more uniform design, IE Chinese, Japanese, etc…But they don’t need to totally change the cultural inspiration or aesthetic.
And no they haven’t tried to make it disappear out of existence in GW2, either because it is mentioned by several NPC’s in cities, there are several characters in the story who are Canthan, and some of the ascended items are also Canthan artifacts. There are also very small “easter eggs” if you will through out the game, and during the Order of Whispers story arc that elude to the probability that Cantha is still there. There are a few prominent members of the human aristocracy (noble story arc) that are quite obviously Canthan, and one of Lions Arch’s most prominent families is also Canthan. They just might not ever bother to add it as a region, or add much of anything to do with it due to the silly and unfortunate decisions made a long time ago and this annoys the community a great deal. Cantha belongs in Tyria, in GW2, in all it’s oriental themed glory.
Your posts continue to impress me. I will not stop posting in here until we get confirmation of Cantha. So however long that takes I’ll be here. But back to the topic you are right they are not trying to hide it under the rug. There are even items like Kurzick Bauble that are a direct reference to items from GW1 – particularly Factions related.
Either way, whatever ridiculous decision lead them to think excluding Cantha and Elona were good ideas or business practical, then they need to seriously reevaluate those decisions because they are horrible ones.
The community wants these places to return in their original aesthetic and theme. maybe ask what’s her face from Nexon if making more money is a good decision and maybe then you’ll see adding Cantha is the right move.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
rng + nerf in curse shore event = diablo 3 auction house.
Pretty much. Currently there are under 500 available T6 dust – they are almost 40s a piece.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
Anet logic right here
Lmao!!
There are still Asian themed NPCs in game as well that originate from Cantha. There’s also a giant wall / gateway that leads to the Crystal Desert (part of Elona) so I’m very much hoping we get to revisit both Cantha and Elona in GW2.
Horrible business decision if they exclude either or both.

Pretty sure every dev from GW1 is long gone.

I think the fact that they replaced the kits is a great gesture. If you spent a ton of gold to buy rares well kitten that sucks I’m sorry about your loss. But for them to replace all salvage kits used is something most game companies wouldn’t do.
Not to mention you could have already sold your materials that you DID make from the kits. So basically you’re asking them to give you all your money back even though you already may have sold your salvage mats.
Be happy you got the kits back.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
Go to Darkhaven and within 5 minutes you’ll see Portuguese recruitment spam in LA map chat or a flood of Brazilian guild members teleporting around on your screen from the lag.
Also go to Frostgorge where there’s the great place to farm Corrupted Lodestones – you’ll see at least 2-3 botters from a certain BR guild on our server.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
You know what I want?
THIS:I’d be happy if the expansion did nothing more but polish the game to resemble what was promised to us 2 years ago.
Wonder if Anet remembers they even made that video. Because I certainly don’t see any of that in-game. Same things I loved about GW1 huh? Ok, point me in the direction of said things. Thanks.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
orphel has it right big nice prestigious mounts people want to work for cool things ow and mkalafut shut up we don’t need you here if we support it enough maybe a net will see it and realize that people want this and put it in the game
Telling me to shut up really makes me want to support your cause. Anet sees every thread. All 100 of them a day about “we want mountz”. Trust me, they see them and they hate having to lock them.
They’ve said it before they’ll say it again. They have no current plans to implement mounts. If / when they do, I’m sure they’ll let everyone know in an announcement. But until then we can probably stop making these threads every 5 minutes, hm?
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
Strange, i’m from brazil and have 0 delay. How do you know that there is a delay? You already played gw2 in brazil?
You have no delay on your screen, but on our screens you basically teleport across it. The Brazilian state on my server (Darkhaven) has gotten exceptionally ridiculous and bad. So many Brazilians on our server that we can’t communicate with, who don’t play cooperatively, and who flood chat with Portuguese.
Not to mention 9 times out of 10 when I see and report a botter it’s from one of the (now many) Brazilian guilds on the server. Map chat being flooded with guild recruitment spam from them is great too. You know, on account of the Portuguese.

This is just another example of ANet’s infamous “higher population = higher challenge” philosophy. I can see where it can be bothersome, but after playing GW1 for 6.5 years I come to expect it.
How would you rate GW2 in contrast with GW1?
The main difference I see, as well as my group of friends that transitioned from years of GW1 to GW2 is the fact that the content in GW2 is SIGNIFICANTLY less replayable than that of GW1. Guild Wars 1 areas just had something about them that allowed you to easily lose yourself in running the same instance literally all day, and get the same satisfaction. Maybe it’s the risk/reward ratio in GW2 is way off. Maybe it’s the pure randomness of the loot possibility in GW1 instances. If I had to select a concrete reason, though, it would be that the runs in GW1 felt like a massive achievement upon completion whereas the combat mechanics of GW2 make every fight the same fight and take away from the overall experience of completing a dungeon, event, etc.
Also, the roles of players in GW1 was very important in end game material compared to GW2. In the past game, everyone came with a job to do – not exactly heal/DPS/tank, but an actual objective vital to the completion of a zone. In GW2, the classes are so balanced that you often feel as if you bring nothing to the group, and the problem is not your specific profession, because all professions have this equality. The ability for those particular 8 people with those particular 8 skills to come together and perform what that same group minus one could never accomplish. I loved being the Necromancer that allowed the spike to be successful, or the Ritualist that blocked the enemies from my group. In this regard, there was better congruency between professions in the first game that GW2 can never hope to achieve with its current system.
These are just a few things, I can go on if you’re interested.
Same way I feel. I miss random mob packs and the way stuff worked in GW1. Guess we just gotta get the times. I still play GW1 from time to time because all in all I feel it’s a better game.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
Oh look this thread again. As Anet has said several times there are no current plans for mounts. Inb4 lock.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
Wouldn’t be to far of a stretch, Diablo III is slated to be pushed out for the ps4
That’s because Diablo 3 was developed for console from the start.
Also on topic, this is a bad idea.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
Personal story can literally be done in a day. I went through my first 80 being doing every story quest at the appropriate level and taking my time. Every subsequent character I went through to level 80 and then rushed through the story for money & item sake.
I do not think personal story is a suitable feat to award a LEGENDARY precursor. RNG sucks, but if you get lucky, hey you get lucky. I’m glad Collin said they’re keeping the mystic forge and drop chances the same to obtain one AS WELL AS add in the scavenger-hunt type deal.
Being able to work for something is a good thing. Being handed something for little to no effort isn’t. Nor is RNG. I think they found a good middleground that appeases those who want to sell their lucky drops and award the time investments of dedicated players.
The personal story already awards a legendary.
…just not to you.
Lol…. kitten that Sylvari..
..
Lmfao legit laughs on my end from this post. 10/10.
The issue I have raised and still stand by is the goal posts for legendaries gets further away the longer the game is live ,lodestones cost me 30s when i got mine ,prec was 300 g for greatsword and all my t6 mats were 3 – 5 s. Is it fair that I paid 1k less gold for mine? No it isn’t the recipe should be made up of constant prices not inflating. It’s unfair to casual players and the prec portion is no exception
I definitely see the point made here. The scavenger hunt type dealio that they’re coming out with will solve that issue. As time goes by the prices of required mats to make the gifts and such will fluctuate especially when dramatic changes in player population occur. Having consistent methods to obtain a legendary is a good thing to award players dedicated enough to pursue them.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
(edited by TehPwnerer.7215)
Many players gave up trying to farm for hours they just buy bags for loot, which raises the prices of them, also TP flippers don’t help..
TP flippers are the freaking bane of my existence. “Tryin to get mats? That’s ok bro, I sold my legendary I don’t need mats. Lemme buy this bag for 10s so I can sell it to you for 16s, bro.”
Gee, thanks. The rich get richer. But that’s for another thread.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
I figured out not to waste my time with the MF within like 2 weeks of discovering it. The only thing it’s good for is the ‘for sure’ recipes like Mystic salvage kits.
Pretty much this. Every time it’s on the list for the daily I usually give it 5 clover attempts. So far I’ve spent almost 2 stacks of shards to get almost 60 clovers, which sucks because that’s a ton of ecto and coins down the tube too.
Point is, it’s just random and that does suck. You just got unluckier than usual. Don’t give up though, just don’t make it a habit because that’s when you start getting livid with your hard earned items and money literally being thrown away in your face.
I just bought 16 rare axes the other night for my daily (I was at 4/5 and was lazy so I decided to forge a few things). I wanna say it was like 3-6g for all of them and I decided to do axes instead of shields, greatswords, 1h swords, rifles, whatever – for variety reasons (it seems I’m always dumping in greatswords for a payout do I decided to change it up a bit).
Dumped 4 in. Got a rare back. 4 more – rare. 4 more – rare. 4 more – rare. So out of the 16 I bought, I was left with 4 more rares. Dumped those in to finish off my daily and I got the Tooth of Frostfang.
I’ve gotten very unlucky with clovers too though. When I discovered the 10 at a time recipe, I tried it out 5 times. 50 attempts turned into 5 with not a single clover in return. I did, right after, 50 single attempts and got over 20 clovers. Just the way RNG works, I guess. It sucks.
Edit: for the people wondering about whether or not precursors are still being “awarded” through the mystic forge, read my post.

I’ve only ever ordered from Directsong once – for the Jeremy Soule signed GW2 soundtrack. Paid for it right away, and it took them a couple months for them to process my order but every e-mail I sent was received and replied to. I got my soundtrack signed with no complaints. Sorry you’re having issues!

There are runes? All I know of are the runes of life which add +5 HP and then the runes to make bags.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
Everything from GW1 – literally.
Well designed quests, strategy, real challenge, excellent story, enjoyable combat, awesome pvp with tons of modes, healing and protting, rewarding pve & pvp, costumes I can combat in, heroes, Cantha and Elona. Glint, Palawa Joko, trolling RA with frenzy mending and heal sig, hamstorm, epic voice acting so bad it’s good, running people for dem platz, power trading in spamadan, vanquishing, my Assassin, guild alliances, watching Dhuum own people when they get banned http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3fFYug8nXcM
This list summed up most of what I miss. GW1 is still my go-to MMO game these days. Though I still play and love GW2 for whakitten is, it certainly isn’t close to being as good as GW1 for me.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
Well, I see the post confirm’s about there is no charge in the transfer, but the dev doesn’t confirmed in this link about the bank itens and the money stored.
I also would like to know about the Laureau, this is account bound, like the bank itens and the pvp glory, so I think it’s also move to in the free transfer.I will delete all of my characters to transfer, would like if I can use the same character name in the other server and if I can transfter with my bank itens and money…
Not sure if Englikittenhink what I’m understanding is that you’d delete all of your characters and remake them on a different server in hopes of retaining your stuff? I don’t think anything in your bank or laurels will be deleted, but all of the karma and soulbound items on the characters as they are deleted will be gone forever.
Edit: what’s with all the “kittens”?

What the hell is that video I don’t even.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
I feel you, but, don’t expect that to ever happen.
Yeah, this is pretty much it. I don’t see this happening. Plus you realize that if you want to transfer to “better” wvw servers, the chances are it probably costs you more because they’re probably flooded with more people.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
That’s a good point. With so many legendaries that people would actually see, it’s definitely something to ponder as to why they have underwater ones. I know that through the years of me playing this game I may acquire one or more legendaries, but never once have I thought “Yeah I’m gonna go get an Underwater one next!”
I think they’re there for variety. I’m not sure if we’ll see any sort of huge underwater-only content or updates, but I know a lot of people would be turned off to that. Underwater combat is not as fluid as normal combat (pun intended). Combat and dungeons on land have better control, it seems. Better placement of banners, AOE effects, better support options, etc. Nothing in the underwater skill set or combat functionality of underwater combat would suggest they have some big 100% underwater content planned.
That’s just me, obviously.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
Geez, that is the worst attempt at a phishing attempt I have seen, only someone as illiterate as them could possibly fall for that, and, I agree block out the link so no one is tempted to click them.
I have done so, thank you both for mentioning that. I posted these right before I went off to work so I did so in a hurry (did it on my guild website as well – which I just edited as well to block out the URLs) to get the word out about this email that, aside from the atrocious English, looks legitimate.
Image has been edited to block out URLs. And I agree, the attempt is so poor compared to most it’s almokittennny. But unfortunately as obvious as it may be for you or me, some people still may fall victim to it so I definitely don’t want to see that happen to anybody.
Again I posted this because the email address wasn’t blocked by my spam so I’m sure it got through to others as well. The sender looks legit (support@guildwars2.com) and the sender’s name is “ArenaNet”. Hope I may have helped someone with this.

I predict some free and some gem store items just like all the events so far.
I expect something like this. ^
What I’d really like to see is a cumulative reward adding on to HoM ranks and year(s) in GW2. I know not fair to non GW1 players but (add your favorite “life’s not fair” shot here) many devoted fans/players continue to support after many years with Anet.
No. Not even a matter of fair or not fair, Hall of Monument rewards are there for a reason and considering people still play GW1 and can still earn the rewards, if you want HoM stuff I suggest you play some GW1.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
Just figured I’d stop by and let people know that another phishing attempt is going around. The sender is “ArenaNet” and the address is support@guildwars2.com. The message is titled, for me anyway, “Guild Waes 2 Account Support”. Be aware that this is a phishing attempt (a poor one at that) but I still feel I should let you all know that this is going around.
[Moderated]
That is what the body of the email looks like. Not only are both the title and body riddled with spelling and grammatical errors, the email shows as if it was actually sent from GW2 support. So be cautioned this is 100% fake.

I thought it was kinda cool that the boxes can drop from anything in Southsun.^^ What i din expect was that the drop rate would be between 1/50-1/100 for a single weapon skin token.
So basically you need 12,000 gems for a chance at 1 weaponskin token. Thanks Anet, but i’ll keep my $150 <.<
Not to mention the “rare drop off of mobs” is probably like one to two boxes for the entire event if you do nothing but kill Southsun mobs for the next month.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
GW1 had Hard mode / Vanquishes / Elite Dungeons. I know we’ll never see a Hard Mode as the game isn’t instanced and the down-scaling prevents this. I hope we somehow see Elite Dungeons (FoW, UW, DoA, ToPK, etc) make their way into the game.
But just to be clear: raids =/= challenging, engaging content. GW1 did fine without them. I would support 8-10 player Elite Dungeons though assuming they provided enough challenge.
When people complete the “expansions worth of content” provided by the living story in a matter of hours, and temporary dungeons that we see for a week or two at a time, there needs to be changed.

Hey there, me again, dropping by for my daily support of Cantha. Last night I visited “The Great Collapse” in Divinity’s Reach. I’d love to know how a giant chasm in a city is as engaging and desirable as a returning GW1 culture / continent. I also stumbled upon a Guru thread where I saw early screenshots of Canthan Quarters in Divinity’s Reach. It’s such a shame to see them scrape so much art work and time. Shame indeed. I’m hoping there’s a grand scheme here, as the builders make reference to the site being well underway to be completed, that eventually leads to the Canthan Quarters being completed and Cantha revitalized into the series once more.
