Well, I am right there with you. In GW1 if I wanted a certain weapon I can go to FoW, Mineral Springs, find a boss wielding it, etc. and kill things to acquire the item. I’m trying to get Jormag’s Breath so I can dual-wield an Icy Dragon Sword and a Fiery one and I have yet to get a single Corrupted Lodestone to drop and I refuse to pay 1.5g for one (I need 50 for this sword).

I agree that they need to actually implement sensible weapon drops in the game and stop relying on the mystic forge as the ONLY way to acquire these weapons.

It would be nice but it’s a convenience thing. Let them sort out actual problems before this is considered IMO.

I don’t think so. They have no current dev schedule for revamping the way precursors are acquired. They’d like to in the future, but I think for now all he said is that they’re making playing the game and exploring the world (events and such) more rewarding. Whatever that means.

I could be wrong and maybe I’m missing something, but as far as I recall they never mentioned this being beneficial to legendary weapon progression.

Ascended gear. It’s in the notes. Also, it was mentioned in other threads…Ascended gear being able to be purchased with laurels. Rings and Amulets and possibly back items.

You are correct on this. They pretty much outright have been saying since the beginning there’d be no mounts in the game.

And I also agree that making a forum post about mounts should be bannable. This is getting a little ridiculous. People keep making mount threads since day 1 – and since day 1 Anet has said “no”. When will you people learn?

Well maybe if not every WvW guild flocked to the same 3 servers we’d have better guild spread and better WvW activity across the board. Convince them to be different and not just flock to the flavor of the month server.

With the addition of the new achievement system and daily achievement rotation, I noticed we are getting a new item as a reward for completing these to be spent on various things.

Does this mean we are no longer going to be getting jugs of Karma or Mystic Coins as a reward?

Aw come on, nobody knows? Is it an Engineer thing? An Asura thing? Nobody else has heard this? The guy next to me heard it and asked what it was too, but nobody answered.

I bought a key from her, then went and made ~12 stacks of commendations for gathering tools and a few more keys (I have like 100 black lion chests to unlock….) and then she was disabled. Was not happy.

Today after Claw of Jormag I was standing near the merchant and heard a little “robot song” (bleeps and bloops) and then a robot say “bonjour!” lol does anyone know what that is?

I thought it was the golem banker but I used mine and it didn’t do a little robo-song and it didn’t speak to me. Anyone know?

I should not be able to open the TP and see all of the Top Valued Items be legendaries in stock. People are making legendaries for the sole purpose of selling them for 1000s of gold. Why wouldn’t they? They’re only going to get easier to make down the line with the introduction of easier pre-cursor items.

Legendaries should be Bind on Account at the very least. Soulbound on use too (which it currently is) but people should not be able to make one and sell it for 5000$ worth of gold. You think every one of those were legitimately made? Think again.

I don’t even know what to say really. It’s sickening how easy it is to get a legendary or a pre-cursor if you have a big wallet IRL. Sites that sell both the legendary items themselves along with their pre-cursors for 300 dollars and up? That is absolutely ridiculous.

If anyone has any tips on collecting these lodestones so I can make my weapon I’d appreciate it. On another note does anybody know if Anet is going to add more destroyers to the game? Preferably high level ones? It’d be nice to have a place to actually farm these. Plus Destroyers are awesome enemies and there’s not enough of them in the game IMO.

Didn’t read through the 3 pages but I’ve played GW1 since launch day and same with GW2. Pre-purhcased the day it became available to be purchased early.

Now that that’s out of the way, I am disappointed with some aspects of GW2 compared to GW1. For example, high level caps with increased caps in expansions confirmed is not something I like to see for this game.

I also don’t like seeing more gear tiers added – though I understand the “need” to do so. I don’t like how I can’t farm for things I need to use in crafting or just plain weapons in general. Legendaries are obnoxiously hard and expensive to craft, only to end up on the trading post – the list can go on.

Crafting is streamlined and dumbed down to fit the typical MMO style of crafting (99% of the crap you make is useless and only used to get to the max level). A destroyer weapon in GW1 meant I farmed a bit and went to craft my weapon. That same weapon in GW2 means I need to buy lodestones from a bot off the TP or farm a single event (with a 2h cooldown) and hope to get enough cores to drop for me to make them into Lodestones in the mystic forge.

I play GW2 every day and there are things that improved from GW1 -> GW2 but for the most part I am largely disappointed by the way it turned out. They could have done so much more with it and kept to what made GW1 great but they went a different route to appeal to the masses.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention that part. Which I also screenshotted (with timestamps, of course). After about an hour of farming the bot randomly logged off mid-combat. ~7 minutes later it was logged back in picking up where it left off.

Lol nobody ruined my childhood but let’s be honest everything you do in game has a goal = profit, no matter how fun or not fun it may be. You’re not gonna do something just for sake of fun unless its your first time, after that you begin expecting some reward for your time investment and having fun while doing so. Otherwise, it becomes repetitive and less interesting. That’s why dungeons have 3 modes in the first place, and have guaranteed silver reward in the end/tokens.

That’s not true at all. I had 50/50 and GWAMM on my GW1 account before GW2 came out and I still played the hell out of GW1 doing dungeons and just playing the game because it was fun.

So, unfortunately, your logic is flawed. There are still true gamers out there that play to have fun.

Legitimate player here just trying to play the game and farm materials to make cool looking weapons – when suddenly a wild bot appears! I won’t name and shame and I won’t post screenshots unless requested, but I checked at a location to farm Corrupted Lodestones (because I hear of this amazing spot to farm them) and lo and behold there is a bot.

i first noticed this guy a few days ago when I went to this area to farm the lodestones I needed and saw this guy there and within 5 minutes I knew he was a bot. Probably less than 5 minutes. So I say, ok I’ll come back later he’s bound to be off by then. So I report him and move on. ~12 hours later I come back (the next day, obviously) and he’s still there..

What the hell? Click report again, follow him around a bit, see him get stuck on small ledges, never dodging once, always using the same skill to kill mobs, and I take some screenshots here and there, report again then leave.

So today 24 hours later I come back and the same guy is still running around there farming. He’s a fire elementalist with a lesser and regular fire elemental and some bird following him around while he spams the first dagger skill on mobs. Running the same path. Over. And over. And over… Even leaving the 1 or 2 odd mobs that are a few extra feet out of his range so he can maintain his “optimal botting route”.

And meanwhile, he’s gathering his lodestones to sell on the TP all the while f___ing over the economy and forcing legitimate players to support their botting habbits. Can’t kill a mob or get drops you need? Buy em from the TP – I’m sure a bot didn’t put it there.

What the hell is going on with the botting situation when bots so obvious as this guy remain in game for this long? I can only assume he was doing it far longer than I noticed as I only found out what I wanted to make 2 days ago (going to make Jormag’s Breath to match my Firey Dragon Sword (dual wield warrior) ).

So here I am 50 lodestones away from my goal and I have 2 options. Farm behind the bot and hopefully get lucky and feel like an idiot leeching off this bot, or buy them from the TP at ungodly prices and support this guy’s botting runs.

So I know there’s a nice big sticky post about what Anet is doing about bots, but really what are they doing if people like this who get spam reported (tons of other people saw and reported this guy and 1 other bot who just showed up today) can remain in the game for days? Weeks? Months???

I’m glad you have learned your lesson but you’ve done so much damage to the game now that Anet will probably just continue with this farcical excuse for content for the foreseeable future.
What happens when the next “holiday” content is released and they have a new mini that you just HAVE to have. Will you say to yourself ’I’ll just spend 20$ on keys" ?

Think of the amount of genuine content they could have released instead of putting all the dev time into new minis and costumes. More development time could of been spent on squashing bugs, fixing broken content and balancing classes.
But NOOOO, because the sheeple in the world and the Pokemon kittenen mentatlity, the genuine gamers, the people who actually want to game, and help develop the communities of the game… we have to suffer.

People like me? Cool bro, 7+ years of GW1 and played GW2 since the closed betas before pre-order beta invites were even conceived. I’m not crying about the game, I’m saying that RNG + Account-bound only is not a good way to go.

But thanks for your input, I guess? Even if it is worthless. I’m not a “pokemon sheeple”. I am a completionist. I strive to get achievements, pets, weapons, etc. Being a completionist has nothing to do with Pokemon you tool.

I also didn’t buy a single key. Good job reading my thread. I am bringing up an issue with the account-bound, random nature of the mini-pets available from the 10 / 10$ Christmas Gifts.

I think removing account bound would solve the issue. I’d agree this can’t hurt anyone. I do agree with the monetization of the other 3 pets from the events though, choose 2 from grinding, pay $$ for the rest. I think that’s a good way to do it. No Buy for power, and people can buy the ones that they want.

I agree with this more than I do account wide + RNG + cash. As kittenty as is it not being able to just get event items in game, I guess it’s better than what it currently is.

I think it’s curious that they appeased the people who complained about the weapon skins in the Black Lion Chests during Halloween but made it worse buy making these mini-pets account bound and putting them in a chest that’s not only more expensive but only obtainable through gems.

Well this will be the last time I support them through the gem store. I bought a ton of their stuff in GW1 – well over 300$ worth of stuff including storage space. character slots, costumes and the bonus missions. It’s obvious their priorities have shifted since then and I will not be a part of it.

Honestly, at least with Halloween I was able to buy the pets – not have to rely on RNG to get them. And even better I couldn’t buy them from a friend or the TP because they’re account bound.

Agreed. The minis should not be account-bound, RNG, and bought with cash. Pick 1 or two, but not all 3 – that’s just attrocious.

Thank you for replying. I understand ArenaNet is working to find a good middleground on what should be RNG, what should be farmed, bought, etc… They are doing a good job and I’ve seen some good improvements and some some things that are not so good.

I have patience and this is not a “zomg I’m quitting QQ” thread, it’s just me giving my 2 cents about the event. I still will continue to play, I am just a bit disappointed at this.

Dude seriously? What’s your malfunction here, you don’t have to buy anything to get anything. People wanting the gem store minis have a good chance to get them. People who want to get the 2 possible minis for the options. All you have to do is the Tixx dungeon once a day to get those mini’s and the mats to make them. Missed a day? There will be repeats that should allow you to get the ones you missed. But as for this claim that only the rich can have fun, seriously? I spent $20 on boxes and got 4 minis, kept the snowman and used the rest for Foostivoo. That was by choice.

As for mats being “ridiculous amounts of gold” that’s the playerbase setting those prices. And as I said above, do the run each day you have the mats to make 2 minis. Also there was no promise that each gift location would have a gift but that it had the potential to have a gift. The tonics are optional. The minis, optional. Is it a let down to not get an optional item? No. Its part of the game.

Overall the only scrooge I can tell around here is you. You’re just mad because you can’t get every little thing your way and as result you’re throwing a tantrum and degrading a wonderful Wintersday. The events are fun and frankly can’t wait to see what’s next.

Not even the entire point. Another point being the RNG, account-bound minis that were promised to be rare drops from mobs – yet I’ve yet to see anyone actually get one from a mob. Want a cool bell? Spend 300g. Want some cool items? Spend 500 gems. Want some gems? Pay over 2 gold for 100 gems. Yeah, most players even that save up don’t have that kind of cash lying around.

Not to mention you get 2 miniatures by playing the game – the other 3 are 350 gems each if you want them. The Quaggen? I luckily got mine, the other 3? Good luck. You’ll never be able to get an extra from a friend either since they’re account bound.

Ok. Account bound, RNG mini pets should not be here. I understand Anet is trying to get a middleground from the Halloween event and trying to get a comfortable medium. I bought over 30$ worth of boxes. Have nearly 10 of the inflatable flying golem mini, and 5 Christmas light golems.

Not a single mini Snowman. My friend has gotten 20+ of each minipet. He’s combined them in the forge to make the Quaggen (like I did with my extras) as well as some extra non-holiday mini pets.

So now I’ve spent my monthly “spending” money that I don’t use for my living expenses, all of my gold, and I still don’t have the mini Snowman. Tons of people have several extras. They are account bound. How is this going to be addressed?

On another note, this event was fun at first but is now slightly repetetive. Doing the jumping puzzle every day for the Karma jug, running the dungeon every day for a pet frame I won’t use.. I don’t know. I miss the scavenger hunts and quests from Guild Wars 1 that actually had you going arond the world getting stuff and doing tasks.

Getting enough materials to only create 2 of the minpets then needing to buy the rest off of the TP was kind of a jerk move too. I’d rather skip running the stupid dungeon and buy them in a pack like I did the Halloween ones.

Agreed. In GW1 or other (most) MMOs, if you can’t complete something it remains left undone for a reason. The people who are skilled enough will complete something. It’s not up to the game designers to hold people’s hands on literally every turn to ensure they get their share of content.

That’s just like saying “I feel like ArenaNet should send people weekly exotics so in case we can’t find / buy / farm our own, we can get them anyway and continue to try to do harder stuff.”

I don’t WvW much anymore, but I agree. Seeing that is annoying. It was the same with the candy corn nodes.

Not sure what you mean. Witch hats are free, Wizard hats are free as well. Go the the “Style” tab in the gem store and pick up a hat for 0 gems.

They are testing the waters of various things. They will get it right eventually. Making a game like this and pleasing the masses is not an easy feat.

Halloween all over again. No thanks. It’s a chore, not fun. I want to disable this information tab on the right side of the screen. I do not want to do this jumping “puzzle” reflex test or the verbal abuse PvP Arena. I like the less stressful winter activities in other mmo’s more, and, guess what, I’ll do them and stop playing GW2 during this time.

None of it is stressful unless you make it stressful. Play GW1 it’s a lot more casual and LOADS of fun (not being sarcastic either, I’m doing both GW1 and GW2 events this year)
