So in the next patch in a few days, Champion loot is being overhauled. My question is, is this going to be exploitable by the already tons of people that just sit in Queensdale all day? Better explained, are champions that respawn within 5 minutes in Queensdale going to give the same chance at the new weapon skins and new Champion loot as champions in Orr?
I know that when I’m pressed for time on my dailies I go to Queensdale and in the span of fhe 20-30 minutes it takes me to do my dailies, I see the troll, wasp, boar, and oakheart events being called out probably 5-8 times each.
Is this new champion loot overhaul just going to encourage people camping in Queensdale all day and getting the same rewards as people trying to take down champs in Orr?
Another part of the question, are the bags affected by timed diminishing returns IE: 1 a day per character per champion, just reduced loot the more you farm it, or any sort of diminishing return whatsoever?
I can see this becoming a huge problem if people can get the same loot from the same champions in the starter zones a couple times per hour.

It is just a very poorly presented tooltip.
What it is saying is that it will deal 84 damage per second and if the target is moving it deals an additional 84 damage per second. So it ticks twice per second for things that are moving.
Yeah that’s very confusingly worded then. Thanks for the reply.
Why does the dev reply on silly questions that can been found in the forum.. But they are not that active here in bugs forum..
Seems about right. People ask stupid questions in living story / general topics about stuff that’s already been answered, but in bugs forum we get no acknowledgement that they’re even seeing these things.
Torment is supposed to do extra damage vs moving targets, but according to the tooltip it does the same damage regardless of the target moving or not.
Looks like not many people are using duel weapons on a Charr..
I can confirm this on my Charr as well. I’ll try it out on my human and post screens in just a sec.
Ok confirmed to be the case on just my Charr and no other characters.

Lol is that the one that’s had a gun drawn on him / her since launch?
step into a loading screen :P
That.
Probably a 0% chance of any update to the HoM rewards. I’m not against you on this but I highly doubt any of the HoM rewards will ever be updated unless there is some animation or effect that gets glitched.
Yeah I’m hoping that’s not the case.
I mean it would make sense to update the current lacking effect to the better new one, right? Am I the only one that thinks this?
im going out on a limb and say the food will be over spiced and everyone gets sicks resulting in the royal cook to never cook again
I’ll just go ahead and leave this here.
yep thats where i got it but thought it fit
I know that’s why I posted it haha =D
It is not as simple as having both, it is something that is within the code and the interaction of multiple different elements of the game. So it might look like an easy thing on the outside – under the hood there is a lot of programming magic going on.
So if you need to have a bankspace to protect yourself from – well – yourself, you have to use the “individual guild” route.
If it is simple or not is irrelevant. Just because it is harder to do does not mean you should not do it and is a cop out argument.
People will complain about anything. They’re allowing you to have all of your stuff stored account-wide and accessible on any character. How is that a bad thing whatsoever? I fail to see why there’s any complaining about this.
It shouldn’t be anyone at ArenaNet’s job to make sure people don’t spend their money on stuff they don’t want. There are plenty of fail-safe methods in place to prevent people from accidentally buying things – the exception being the trading post which will instantly take your money if you have enough to buy what you’ve clicked on.
I don’t know. I’ve been a hero. Last month I solved a murder mystery while fighting off sky pirates.
Oh, you mean you’re not a hero today.
Seems to me that even in Guild Wars 1, after you finished the content, you weren’t a hero either. Take Nightfall. Komir becomes a God and you’ve one. It’s over. Much like this story.
Except Trahearne actually doesn’t take credit for slaying Zhaitan in fact, he wasn’t even there. He says at the end he wishes he was and how you’re a hero and how you’ve earned a break.
I’m not sure what kind of games that you guys are playing where you’re a hero every day 24/7.
Since that time we’ve fought off the Karka invasion, we’ve stopped the dredge and flame legion from cementing an alliance…oh right.
Maybe you guys aren’t paying attention.
Rght On
So all things I do on a daily basis in WoW, except on a much smaller scale? Okay
In WoW, you actually make a difference. You’re on a major boss fight and your tank disconnects, oh man, this isn’t Guild Wars 2 and we can’t replace him with a random nobody that has no idea what they’re doing. We need an experienced tank that has done this multiple times. Maybe he’ll even give us some insight as to how we can better defeat the boss.
Everybody counts in a raid/dungeon/event in WoW. You lose one player and you lose a valuable role.
Guild Wars 2 mentality: Group member disconnects “Replace him with anyone, it doesn’t matter who we pick.”
At Jormag: “Oh, a player disconnected? Big whoop, he wasn’t valuable.”
I definitely don’t feel like a hero at all when I can be replaced by someone who has no clue as to what they’re doing.
And to answer you, I suppose that most people feel that they’re solving petty crimes that don’t matter at all in the big picture. Oh my gosh, an entire ship full of sky pirates is about to attack an entire freaking city. Whatever are we going to do when they land? Oh, let’s just get 1,000 people from the city and beat them into submission. You see, it doesn’t feel as epic as an “entire fleet of enemy ships with the intent to take over Lions Arch and all major cities all over Tyria.”
When people play other games, the above event is what they experience. An entire fleet of enemies coming at them and hopeless odds that they could never deal with, but find a way to overcome. Then they come to Guild Wars 2 and a single ship is flying at them. Big deal, my Night Elf Druid in WoW could take on 10 of those ships with a taco in his hand.
The point this is that you should feel like a hero every day. You deserve to with all the quests you complete. Instead, you feel like a common peasant most days and then rise to the high ranking status of a peasant warrior every two weeks.
I don’t know I remember running a whole lot of bullkitten quests in WoW. And in a five man party in WoW, the healer has a role, the tank has a role and 3/5 of the people are replacable canon fodder than no one cares about. 3/5s of your party are meaningless.
When I play Guild Wars 2 with a guild, we know who the good guys in the guild are. We know who is more of a team player and helps keep people alive. It’s not as obvious, but one of my guildies plays an ele and when he’s in the party, we know he’s popping heals, removing conditions, rezzing and generally helping out…the difference is it’s not limited to two guys.
I can go rez someone, I can heal, remove conditions, or generally help anyone WHILE DPSing. This is something that some people can’t seem to get their head around.
If all you do is pug and you think that’s the game, then that’s your game…it’s sure not mine.
And in WoW, I didn’t feel like a hero, because there was no immediacy to anything I did. No real reaction. I sat and used the same skills in the same order to maximize my damage. My son used to tank while eating dinner and playing another game on his phone at the same time.
If you think the Claw of Jormag is what Guild Wars 2 is about, I don’t really know what to say to you.
Truth. If only everyone could read this post, GW2 would be a better place.
I am a pinata destroyer
I am an avid voter
I am a mini game connoisseur
I am a jumping puzzle master
I am a pyrotechnician
I am a supporter of false victories and looming threats.
But a hero I am not. What’s your story?
I’m the guy that stopped the Molten Alliance’s invasion of Shiverpeaks/Ascalon area.
I’m the guy that killed the big frog in a test simulation for Moto.
I’m the guy that helped arrest Canach and stop his insane plan.
I’m the guy that solved the murder of a Lion’s Arch captain.
I’m the guy that stopped a major invasion plot by sky pirates.I am the hero, whether or not there’s an audience to say so. The rest of the fluff in between is fun stuff to do in my down time from saving everyone….
I think you’re confusing yourself with Dulfy.
I agree. All this steampunk, pirate themed, garbage is ticking me off. I don’t care about pirates nor anything Steampunk related. If I would have known GW2 would be Steampunk Pirate Sim 2013 I woulda just bought a different MMO.
This is a Fantasy MMORPG.. Where’s the fantasy?
I have a question about the changes to magic find since i dont know if they will remove the armor/items or simply change magic find into another stat. I would like to know becouse in my case i have magic find armor transmuted into primeval armor skin and i really dont want to lose my favourite skin. If they will just delete it im thinking of getting transmutation stones to change it into something else but i really dont have a lot of gold just lying around. I would like to know what i should do to not lose the skin. Hope someone lends me a hand
I HIGHLY doubt they will just flat out delete people’s armor. Nobody knows what they’ll do just yet so I’d just say wait and stay tuned for more updates.
With these new weapons being added in, can we expect to see existing HoM Fellblades get a visual overhaul? It seems that the image shown with the mesmer dual-wielding 2 of the newer 1h versions shows some new smoke effects off of the sword.
My question to ArenaNet is, do you have plans to update existing ones to update the affect as well? Because the current smoke effect is very plain in comparison to this. Second part of the question, what percent chance do we have of actually seeing the original Fellblade effect from GW1 make its way on to the GW2 counterpart?
As someone with HoM rewards, I don’t care. At all.
I wouldn’t care even if they were letting everyone get the straight HoM items themselves and not just reskins.
The need to have something others can’t get is terribly juvenile.I couldn’t agree more. I have all HoM skins (although, truth be said, the only one I use is the staffx), but I wouldn’t care less if everyone got them. As far as I’m concerned, the more people who have access to skins they like, the better.
Ok that’s great, but why even have HoM in the first place? “Special rewards for only GW1 players!… until we add them into GW2…” what? That makes no sense.
not even bothering to give the fellblade the gw1 animation and then rereleasing it after saying hom rewards were supposed to be special for gw1 players
real kitten move anet
I agree 100%. The animation from Gw1 was incredible. The HoM Fellblade has a dull smoke that flows off of it like a Fiery Dragon Sword.. And this new Fellblade 1h looks like it has a better looking smoke effect. I just hope they at the very least update the HoM Fellblade skin to make the effect better than it is now.
Just want to add another huge “THANK YOU!”
It’s so amazing to finally have storage for dungeon tokens, badges of honor, and even guild commendations! Thank you, thank you, 1000x thank you.
It does seem weird that they overlooked (or just chose not to include) pristine fractal relics, but I hope they’ll include them in a future update. And at least it’s only one type of token you’ll need to keep in inventory/bank. Plus, if I’m not mistaken, you can only get one once per day, and with the introduction of FotM being about 8 months ago, would anyone actually have more than a single stack of them?
Lastly, while I think it makes sense for them to remove the bank because the account-bound wallet makes the feature (mostly) meaningless, I do understand the plight of those who want to store money for saving or to avoid accidental spending/splurges. It makes sense why they would think to remove it, but I guess it is a useful feature regardless… Maybe in the future they will add that again, and since we now have the “wallet” maybe they can do something cute like have a “piggy bank.”
Instead of needing to go to the bank maybe it would just be another little menu-thing in inventory: “send gold to piggy bank?” Ooh, or it could be that you could deposit money from anywhere but can only withdraw it at the bank.
My guess is that “Fractal Relics” was a catch-all and that Pristine relics would also be included.
im going out on a limb and say the food will be over spiced and everyone gets sicks resulting in the royal cook to never cook again
I’ll just go ahead and leave this here.
To begin with, IDS and FDS are two distinctly different things. In GW sure, it may have been a reskin, but lore and methods of acquisition kept them distinctly different. In GW2 they are even more distinct. The skin isn’t an exact replica, and it isn’t even called an IDS as far as I know.
Saying one is the same as the other is sort of like saying the Green ranger was the same as the Red Ranger. In some neighborhoods, that could cause a rumble.
Now more on topic, having 49/50 of the HoM points, I don’t see an issue. Its a one handed weapon, it has glitter all over it, whatever. Maybe the outline is the same, but the Fellblade is still distinct. Now, if they released a broadsword that looked the same, with maybe different color hand-wrappings and called it the Hewblade, then I might cry foul. It would be like your Fellblade and accomplishment unlocking it are trivialized by an influx of cheap flea-market knock-offs.
I think the sanctity of our HoM items is still intact.
I agree with you, like I said I can see both sides. I just fear this could be the first step in an undesirable direction regarding HoM skins. And I am hoping that at the very least they update the existing Fellblade to emanate that awesome new “smoke” that the pink ones do, because our current particle affect on the existing Fellblade is lacking.
This is a welcome change for me. Makes dungeons overall more rewarding since my guildmates and I almost always full clear dungeons anyway, but it also stops people from wanting to CoF P1 farm.
They will still do it, no doubt, but at least I won’t be NOT getting rewarded for doing dungeons correctly and completely.
That’s actually very cool. Nice work!
It likely won’t be refunded. The only thing that is changing is dungeon gold will be mostly awarded at the end upon completion. This has no affect to the rest of the world where the infusion can also be used.
Gold and Magic Find are not being removed, simply shifted in some situations. You probably won’t (and definitely shouldn’t) get a refund.
I am not angry at all, but repeating myself to you several times is just getting old. Let me demonstrate (see attachments below). In GW1, FDS and IDS were completely different weapons. Fellblade was also its own weapon. In GW2 there isn’t even an IDS so for all intents and purposes, the Breath of Jormag is the IDS – Which is separate from the FDS skin available from HoM.
However, a Fellblade is a Fellblade is a Fellblade and this is just a colored resized skin of a Fellblade. I have no problem adding GW1 weapons into GW2 (check my previous posts I am an avid supporter) so long as they aren’t tied to HoM.
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Fiery_Dragon_Sword
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Icy_Dragon_Sword
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Fellblade
All completely separate.
Now check my attachments and tell me those are the same. One is a skinned version (exact replica) from GW1 and the other is a craftable exotic themed around Jormag. It has nothing to do with double standards. They are all separate.
(edited by TehPwnerer.7215)
You must be pretty kitten ed about Breath of Jormag, then. That’s just a reskin of the flame sword from HoM and it’s been ingame since release.
I’m not. In fact my warrior dual wields FDS main hand and Breath of Jormag in offhand. I did it on purpose. Icy and Fiery Dragon Swords were both in GW1 and IDS was not promised as a HoM reward.
Fellblade was.
You’re either not understanding the point or using a serious double standard
At the end of the day, if Jormag’s Breath is acceptable, then so is this.
Personally, as someone who did work hard to get 30/50 in HoM I can’t really say it bothers me at all.
That being said, making the smoke on Fellblade more noticeable would be a welcome change.
I do not have a double standard, as IDS was never reserved for a HoM only skin.

Your missing the point…
HOM promised FDS as an exclusive – GW2 adds IDS for all to get that is LITERALLY an exact replica with different coloring
HOM promised Fellblade as an exclusive – GW2 adds a different weapon type with a resized skin with added effects
How at all are these different, and thus how at all can you be ok with 1 and not the other? If your going with IDS was GW1, Fellblade in GW1 was a 1-H sword. In that case you should be upset that the HOM rewarded you with something not even in the game.
Also if you pay attention, Breath of Jormag and FDS are not the same skin. The FDS has a larger flame affect and is a larger sword overall than the Breath of Jormag.
Neither was this new skin based around the fellblade…. just like the IDS is based around the FDS….. Both non HOM skins are slight varients of HOM weapons…
No, the Breath of Jormag in GW2 is a completely different skin. The dragon hilt looks different, the blade itself is different, and the particle affect is different. It is not just a resized, recolored FDS.
And also, they aren’t both Fellblades huh? See attachment.
Why must the developers not make a similar item that all GW2 players can enjoy?
Guild Wars 1 players worked their butts off for some of those rewards.
I’m ok with them being added to the game, they’re a bit different to the Fellblade, but, it’s a slipperly slope. How long until all HoM skins are just rehashed slightly for self entitled GW2-only players to obtain?
That’s why I made this thread. It’s a slippery slope and this is the beginning. If this is seen as ok and people don’t speak up about it, what’s next?
You must be pretty kitten ed about Breath of Jormag, then. That’s just a reskin of the flame sword from HoM and it’s been ingame since release.

I hear Jenna had invited one of the high ranking centaurs to speak at the Jubilee and hopefully help mend relations, but he had to cancel. He was feeling a little hoarse.
I see what you did there.
So I’ve had GW2 liked on FB since it created a page for it. I don’t go on Facebook more than once every few weeks or so. What was the intended reward of 1m likes again? I forget.
You must be pretty kitten ed about Breath of Jormag, then. That’s just a reskin of the flame sword from HoM and it’s been ingame since release.

They’re purplish/pinkish and 1 handed, so I’m alright with them being added to the game and don’t feel they detract from the 2 handed fellblade one of my guardians uses.
Like I said, I see both points but I’m still just kind of peeved that they’d do this. I feel like at the very least they should update the original Fellblade appearance then to make it look as cool.
And no I’m not saying make it pink I’m saying make the smoke look better like it is in that screenshot.
As people are saying in another thread,
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/livingworld/jubilee/New-Fellblades/first
The new ones look better and are 1 handed. So yes they are not the original Fellblade, but as one user says,
“if this one looks better, theres no point to it existing anymore since no one would get them.”
I agree with this. Looks are subjective, but obvious improvements to appearance and effects on the weapon originally intended for HoM is just wrong.
What happened to Fellblades being a unique reward?
As long as the clean version is still only obtainable via gw1, then it’ll remain unique.
but if this one looks better, theres no point to it existing anymore since no one would get them
Looks are subjective
I should also point out this is not the first case like this, Fiery Dragon Sword vs Jormag’s Breath being the one I recall.
Icy Dragon Swords were in GW1 as well. They are completely separate from Fiery Dragon Swords. I agree that it’s pretty wrong of them to make reskinned 1h Fellblades that look better than the original one.
I wonder what they’ll do next year? Jennah can’t have a 10 year anniversary every year, afterall. Maybe the GW2 anniversary party is gonna change theme and rotate btwn capitals?
To me this just seems like Trehearne all over again. These NPCs that have no importance whatsoever get all of the glory, get all of the festivals, but what do we as “the heroes of Tyria” get? The 1 year anniversary should be celebrating US and not these NPCs that are completely useless until an event or personal story step makes them seem important for 5 minutes.
Better is a very relative term. To me the pink/purple inscriptions absolutely destroy that sword and make it much much worse. Also, really how many people do you see running around with the HOM weapons because they think they are prestigious?
I use them. But no I wasn’t talking about the pink because I think that’s a disgrace to the Fellblade (which was ONE of the better looking swords in GW1) I am talking about the smoke around it.
In GW1 the fellblade had mist inside the blade that was animated. The GW2 counterpart had like purple smoke bellowing off of it and you can hardly notice it. This new one appears to have great new affects surrounding it.
And it’s not about how many people run around with them. The rewards were exclusive to GW1 players who completed certain tiers of HoM. Does it not seem wrong that they’re introducing variations of those weapons in GW2?
I’m not saying I won’t use them if I get one, because I absolutely will, I just feel like it’s kind of a punch to the face to anyone who completed HoM. Who knows what’s next?
(edited by TehPwnerer.7215)
Ya know… for a world being assaulted by dragons we sure have a lot of parties. I was sort of hoping for an update that wasn’t some kind of celebration.
I’m sure your post was great but I can’t hear you over the constant partying I’m doing in Tyria.
To clarify we had both QA and our internal core tests go through the content a whole bunch. The QA team focused on making sure that every profession could complete every boss (there are 12) with a reasonable level of skill and gear. The core testers mostly did what they do best and beat the pants off of the stuff we throw at them and tell us whether or not it was hard enough. I feel its worth mentioning that we would schedule tests for an hour or so and some of them would stay all day trying to beat it. But they were having fun, and that’s whats most important to me.
Queen’s Gauntlet is definitely the more challenging side of the Jubilee. That’s why it has its own achievement category and rewards. There’s even a gambit system wherein you can increase the difficulty for a better reward.
It’s not quite like anything we’ve ever done before. I think some of you are really going to have fun with it.
Is that how you guys tested Candidate Trials T4?
As the title asks, this event is looking great and there’s a lot of great new mechanics and systems being added into GW2. I am just wondering though if this is the anniversary event for 1 year of Guild Wars 2 or if this is completely unrelated?
Overall this update is incredible. Account wallet, permanent finishers, the list can go on about what I’m excited for in this update. What I am not excited for, however, is the seeming introduction of Hall of Monument weapons into the game as drops.
People worked hard for Hall of Monuments updates and now you’re releasing 1-handed Fellblades that have cooler effects than the actual HoM one? That just doesn’t seem right to me. And considering that’s all we’ve seen, who knows what other previously HoM skins will be released in the future?
Why even do HoM at all if you can just get better versions of the reward items in GW2? I hope I’m just missing something here, because I’m really disappointed in this particular aspect of the update. Don’t get me wrong those new Fellblades look awesome (I’m sure they won’t be called that… Or maybe they will who knows), but that’s the problem. They completely diminish even earning the 23 point HoM reward.
What are your guys’ thoughts on this?
Apparently people have been speculating in the giant Cantha thread, which I recommend you post support in if you enjoy Cantha, that eventually we may see the Great Divide rebuilt and have secure passage to Cantha.
Ugh, Kormir…
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DxmkAoLC6_4
Oh my gosh that video was freaking hilarious.
Unfortunately I agree with the 2nd post. They were all very poorly planned and completely uninteresting to me. I will be voting for Evon to relive some GW1 lore.
Oh cool so they ARE tradable and permanent? That’s very good to hear!
Anet have always said you can’t change your character race.
But if you could would you be happy to lose the Achievement points and storylines and armorsets you have gotten? Because realistically those are things you would have to lose especially the Achievement points.
This.
It’s not going to work.
New day, new opportunities for answers!
Oh good merged topics. Once again, GW1 HoM rewards provide no advantage over anyone in GW2 and nobody ASKED for them to reward GW1 players who did the hard / time consuming achievements.
