Maybe i’m wrong on that, so if someone have a official quote pls post it, but they never said that January 13th will be the last update of season 2.
Ppl assumed that because we gonna have the last 2 pieces of the luminescent armor on the 8th update of the season 2. That only mean that we gonna have at least 8 update in season 2, not that we only gonna have 8 episodes and not more.
If anything, I believe that January 13th will be the last update focusing on Silverwaste. We’ll probably gonna have the last portion of silverwaste accessible. Episode 5 gave us silverwaste, episode 6 gave us the labyrinth and episode 7 gave us the Jumping Puzzle, so episode 8 could give us a new portion of the map or the entrance to go deeper in Magguma.
Remember that Silverwastes is only a advanced camp for the Pact. My guess is that episode 8 will be the end of the preparation and that episode 9 will be the actual assault on Modremoth territory.
I like the daily change. Getting reward specific to what you do it pretty neat. It will be interesting to find out what are the reward and I’ll have fun with it.
But why Anet is still putting time, effort and money on daily/monthly? I guess that ya some ppl were not happy with the current system, but it wasn’t a big issue for the vast majority of ppl. It should be so low in the list of priority of Anet that I can’t understand why they did that.
Staff have about 10% more dps than a S/X LH Elementalist. Otherwise, there would be no reason to bring a staff Ele in dungeon. S/X Ele bring more might, but have less personal dps.
Going for the Meta or your personal variation of the meta, should be your ultimate goal. Several meta build exist and for a reason. The community see them as some of the best build with our current knowledge of the game.
If you go in the general direction of the meta, you should be fine. I would recommend to try out the meta traits and then use the gear that you feel comfortable with. Like a mix of soldier, zerker, knight, etc. As you get better, you can then replace some pieces of gear to zerker or you can stay with your current gear
Berserker gear alone only provides 39% crit chance, with 206% crit damage. With fury that’s 59%. If you’re going to include traits and runes in your comparison, then you should do the same for when you’re talking about healing..
I talked about the critical damage only from gear not from trait. 745 Ferocity is equal to 49.6% critical damage and that’s what I use. I took the precision of a full build because zealot of zerker will give you the same amount anyway, and using just the precision of the gear don’t make any sense, its the ferocity that we were talking about not precision.
If I take into account all the healing power and not just the healing power from the gear, then the % of increase would be less. Remember, its the not the increase of a full build compare to zero healing power. Its the comparasion of the healing power that the gear give you compare to the healing with zerker gear instead. To be totally fair, I should have compare the healing capability of a full build in zerker versus the healing capability of a the build with zealot, but this would take a bit longer and will give lower percentage of increase.
For the OP. Zealot won’t give you a lot of support by itself. Most of your healing skill are personal so you won’t gonna help your team much, its gonna be mostly yourself alone that you gonna help.
Not true, at all. The guardian has two healing skills which only affect themselves, shelter and signet of resolve, which both scale badly with healing power. Their self-healing traits also scale horribly with healing power (as you’ve already shown).
Healing power isn’t used for self-survivability, it’s used for group survivability.
Did I said that ALL your healing skill are personal? Did i say that healing power is only for self-survivability? If you take a good build for the guardian and you put zealot gear on it, then you will have limited amount of group healing. You will have no source of regen, you shouldn’t have a staff, your passive F2 will only be for you, you probably will rarely use the active F2, etc.
Now, if you want to use zealot gear and change your trait to get more group healing skill then we change the discussion entirely. Then its not a good build with support, its a bad healing build. I won’t gonna go that road again, hundred of tread over the years where new player get into the game and think that they gonna be a healing paladin that support his group (I was one of them 2 years ago). GW2 is just not that game, you do whatever you want and OP can go full healing if he want. He will be of limited help for most ppl, and will drag down most group. Of course, he’s not alone and a lot of ppl like to play like that. As long as he try to find group that like that, he should be fine. But if he join random group with a full healing power in PvE, he should be ready to receive some comments on his build.
About a thousand of post exactly like this over the last 2 years. The community is split on the issue, some want them, other don’t want them, other don’t give a kitten about them. There is no reason to think that mount will EVER be in the game.
Guys it’s christmas, what is going on. Everybody will be on vacation, including the dev. Did you really expect them to make a update on december 30? Really????
I always loved the idea of an Legendary Amulet (not rings). Why? Because amulet is unique, while you have 2 rings. The amulet should give you an effect. Like birds following you or dark cloud around you, or making you armor shiny or stuff like that.
Now if you want legendary rings (and accessories), they can’t really have an effect, or then you gonna have way too much stuff going on at the screen. If they are only there for the stats swapping capability, they should cost that much.
So 4 weeks instead of 6. I’d still say my educated guess was very educated anyway.
I think I fully understand now how ANet works internally. Which is sad.
Next time, I will sacrifice more kittens again, so we will get the updates faster, maybe a baby elephant too, so we can get an expansion.
What is sad? That Anet staff have a 2 weeks holiday to get back to their family before getting back on their 2 weeks schedule?
Why does anet allow this? These types of builds are really annoying.(SA condi thief, pu mes, etc)
Hear ppl defend this by saying its to counter bunkers. Then why the toughness? bunkers dont do dmg. All it does is give power builds a hard time.
There is something that I don’t understand. Condi/Toughness/Vitality is a PvE/WvW gear set.
Bunker is a tPvP role.
Did anet add a Dire amulet in PvP? Or does a bunker have any use in WvW now? Or are you just dying to Dire build are wanted to cry about it in the forums?
Every build have a counter. Dire build don’t have much precision so the amount of condition they can put on you is limited. A build with just a bit of condi removal and Dire build become useless. They won’t kill you and you won’t kill them. That’s why it’s called a cheesy build and not a lot of ppl use them. They are just boring to play, but you can beat them if you know how.
But I would very, very strongly recommend against something like Clerics or Zealot. The DPS loss is really massive and healing scales very badly
I wouldn’t really call the DPS loss “massive” with Zealot’s gear.
With about 800 healing power, healing skills can scale anywhere from a 40% to 80% increase in healing value. Not really bad scaling either in my opinion, especially considering that all allied healing is AoE in GW2, and in PvE people tend to group closely.Without the ferocity that Berserker gear offers, Zealot gear deals about 20~% less damage. So it’s 20~% less DPS in exchange for 40%-80% stronger healing.
Its 745 (for a full ascended set) ferocity that’s transfer to healing power.
That’s 50% critical dmg less, with dps build you usually have around 80% critical chance with fury. That mean about 40% less dps, not 20%. Or 30% less dps if you don’t want to count fury (since pugs don’t always give fury).
The healing power on the other hand
Passive F2 : +53%
Active F2 : + 34%
Shelter : + 11%
Empower : + 50%
Sanctuary : + 14%
AH : + 10%
Monk’s Focus : + 15%
Writ of the Merciful : + 52%
I don’t know where you get that 40 to 80% stronger heal. Keep in mind that all these percentage were calculated with only 745 healing power. You will probably already have some healing power from another source than your gear, making the increase even less.
So ya, a 30-40% decrease in dps in exchange for a 10-53% increase in healing.
For the OP. Zealot won’t give you a lot of support by itself. Most of your healing skill are personal so you won’t gonna help your team much, its gonna be mostly yourself alone that you gonna help.
But guardian are really good at other source of support. Blind, Aegis, Protection, Reflection are all great support skill that’s gonna keep you team alive.
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fVAQBgi4BJrx2+5VdBw85WA This give you the usual trait for a support guardian. Hammer give constant protection to your team (33% less incoming dm) for about a 5% dps lost compare to a full dps build. The protection symbol is annoying to your team if they try to blast might, but since you mostly want to help you ppl, that won’t be an issue.
You want to spam F1 to blind the enemies. You want to use retreat and F3 to block incoming attack with aegis. You wan to use WoR to block projectile, you want to use purging flames to remove condition from your team.
All that with Zerker gear and runes of scholar. But if you really want to use something else as gear, do as you please. Zealot will increase your own surviablity, but not really your support capability. Hammer have good dps by itself, so you can bring a staff with you if you want. Ideally, stack might before a fight then keep your hammer for the duration of the engagement. Then return to staff for the beginning of the next fight.

Once the cap problem is fixed, the community can put some time to create better PvE Condition build and see what problem still exist to make them competitive with power build.
So you think the current condition builds people use in pve aren’t 100% optimized?
I think there is condition builds for solo or for sPvP that are optimized. But for group PvE, I don’t think so. Really few ppl are looking into that and usually those ppl are not top dungeon players since those take power build or use condition build for solo only.
Maybe I’m wrong and there is nothing more to figure out. Anyway, that’s for sure that ’’fixing’’ the condition cap won’t be the magic solution everybody want it to be. Sinister stats was another step that needed to happen. Making condition build make use of damage multiplier is another one. But I really believe that the community as a whole will take a second good looks at condition build in PvE if the cap get fixed on day.
Its gonna be a more competent and more serious look, with more experiment and more ppl working on it. Does something gonna come out of that? Not sure, but there is a good chance that ya.
I play a zerker LB+GS ranger in spvp. That’s really awesome to support a good bunker. The problem is that to get the best out of it, you need to be far from the action and support your party at a node. Either you have a good bunker, or a more short range party that can keep node while you pick up target one by one from a distance. Except a bunker, not much profession can take the dmg of a rapid fire with signet of wild + rampage as one. Of course good player can reflect and block at the right time so you need to recognize them and pick your moment to burst them down. This is perfect to support both home and mid with your long range (depend on the map).
It can do great stuff on an open map, especially if there is high ground where you can go (Temple of silent is a great map for a power ranger). You can also survive more than you could think with that. With signet of stone and Counter-attack you can survive a burst, with swoop you have the mobility to escape a lot of difficulty situation.
But against a condition build or if you can’t keep you’re distance, you are just a meat shield. You are also terribly limited at protecting nodes, so if 1 or 2 ranger is ok, more than that will probably make your team lose. You are also weak against burst, you better have signet of stone/counter-attack ready when you see those pink butterflies or a thief stealth.
Power ranger have a really specific support role as a DPS. A bit similar to a Ele staff zerker. The only difference is that the Ele will be better when there is a lot of enemies on the node, while the ranger will be better against single target.
Keep your distance and support a more melee range team and the power ranger will be awesome.
Not all weapons are suppose to be good in all game mode.
D/D is not ideal for PvE, S/X is not ideal for PvP
D/D is really good in PvP, S/X is really good in PvEThat is one of this game “problems”, there’s less variety, not all weapons are designed to fill roles in all modes, it looks a slacker way to try balancing the game.
I don’t see that as a problem. You CAN’T make all weapons good in all game mode. You live in a fairy tail world if you think that’s possible. The 3 game mode have different needs, some are overlapping, but other are not.
CC have limited use in PvP, but not in PvE.
Healing have an important role in PvP, but not in PvE.
Mobility have an important role in PvP, but not in PvE.
Any weapons that focus on that and don’t have high level of dmg have limited role in PvE, but not in PvP.
ArenaNet seems very reluctant to split skills so any change made for PvE would also have an affect on PvP.
Unless they fixed the condition cap which only causes problems in PvE.
Except that the condition cap is not a problem.
A fully buffed and maxed Condition Main does on average 25 to 30 percent less damage than its power counterpart.
the only place that this even matters is High End PvE group content. which only a Small portion of the player base actually Plays in.
Every Single Gear stat set is perfectly Viable. and functions exactly how it is supposed to. Changing the Game in many of the suggested ways will only destroy what is already a wonderful system.
the Content is not easy.
It is Old.If you want to change the “Meta”. If you want to make other gear stats “more viable”. You need to convince the Developers to make NEW content, and MORE of it.
Well I agree with most of what you said except for 2 things.
- Condition cap is one aspect of the problem. This limit the usefulness of condition in group content.
- Maybe right about condition doing less dmg than direct dmg anyway, so changing the cap won’t change anything at the end. But because of the cap, not a lot of community work were done on PvE condition build. Once the cap problem is fixed, the community can put some time to create better PvE Condition build and see what problem still exist to make them competitive with power build.
I have confirmed shattered aegis and pure of heart, but I do not think unscathed contender affects teammates otherwise retreat + virtue of courage + RF would be better than Timewarp.
Unscathed Contender SHOULD affect teammates. No reason it shouldn’t.
“Aegis you apply increases damage dealt by 20%.”
It doesn’t affect you team-mates and shouldn’t. 20% dmg is so freaking huge. That would make the guardian so much more powerful. I could get behind a 20% dmg for yourself and a 10% for your party. But not 20% for your party.
I use my virtues all the time.
PvE : Use my F1 all the time for blind, might and vulnerability. This amount of blind make my group able to take on more mobs at the time time. F3 allow my team to continue dpsing wihtout getting hit by a boss’ big attack. F2 passive is what define our profession.
sPvP : I only play bunker, but all my virtue are so important to my survivability there.
WvW : Baby stab replaced the old meta of AH + Pure of Voice. The extra stab + aegis is such a huge bonus when you approach the enemy, especially to bait the corrupt boons.
Not all weapons are suppose to be good in all game mode.
D/D is not ideal for PvE, S/X is not ideal for PvP
D/D is really good in PvP, S/X is really good in PvE
I decided to mix things up and do some PvP this weekend. I’m tired of grinding crests for boot boxes. I figured i’d do the SW reward track and pick up a boot box at the end of that. It takes a little longer than grinding out 1000 crests, but at least it is something different.
However when I hovered over the end reward it says it gives a glove box?!?!? Why would I want a glove box? Gloves are the easiest piece to get, I literally have 9-10 of them already. Why does the reward track only reward a single piece instead of my choice of a piece? Is this a bug?
No its not a bug. This is a relatively old track and you can only do it once. I only had 2 gloves when I did this track. But even if you don’t need the glove, it will still give you 7 mystic clover, which is a huge reward.
P.S. : you can only complete it once.
P.P.S. : I would also like that they drop from 7 to 2 mystic clover, but you could repeat it and choose the piece of gear you want from the carapace set. But maybe that’s just me. 7 mystic clover is really nice too.
There is already plenty of recipe that give you a profit, you just need to work to find them. Tips : a lot of them usually change as soon as you see them in a forum post
Of course the basic recipe that eveybody use to level up will make you lose gold. Think one sec man, thousands and thousands of ppl are making several times these recipes, higher offer than demand and the price drop.
I am also in agreement that all stat combos are viable in pve. OP, what you are going for is how to make all stat combos desirable in pve. However, with the current state of pve, that is highly unlikely to ever happen.
Now, if foes in pve suddenly started hitting as fast and as a hard as TC HM Raptors (ah the good ol’d farming days), people might start investing in some toughness and / or vitality a little more often. Passive defense just would not be enough at that point.
Mordrem at least feel like a step in the right direction. Harder hits and things like the wolf back-attack put a bit more of the risk back in the risk-reward of going full offensive stats. And while you can kill husks with power builds, conditions certainly have a role in melting them fast. I feel like they are trying to find ways to make variety “more optimal” in new stuff. Existing content however, is unlikely to change significantly from zerk or go home in PvE.
It won’t change a thing. Ppl were able to do fractal level 80 back in the days and remember, at that time, no amount of AR could help you. Hit once by agony are you were dead (not down). We did with zerker gear too and the difficulty was higher than anything Anet seem to plan to put in the game ever so.
The situation will stay the same. Good player will continue to use zerker and ppl not able to stay alive will use hybrid build.
Point was that a heavy amount of majority does that.
As I understand that Environment given by developer is supposed to be used to your advantage, it still doesn’t change the fact that every boss in every path in every dungeon is done the same way – stack, might, lure, dps, next one -> repeat.
And that should have been changed long time ago.
You can say the same of most of any PvE game. There is difference between fight, but that basic of a fight stay the same because the mechanic are the same. Sometime you stack might before the fight, other time you stack might on him. Some fight you lure, other fight you don’t lure. Some time you need some reflection, other time you need to time dodge, other time you need to interrupt. That’s never ending complaint, there will never be enough diversity in fight to satisfied everybody. Doesn’t mean that Anet have a free pass to not add more diversity in fight, but it’s not a terrible game breaking problem either.
Still not fixed. Trying to team queue right now and it doesn’t work when someone is in my party.
- I buy too much gems. A monthly fee would have been less costly
- I have all the Legendaries that I really like, but I keep crafting more to make sure I’m the one with the most Legendary in my Guild.
- I tried to restrain myself, but I had to make a sexy (almost nude) female human character. I’m weak.
- I’m addicted to Jumping Puzzle even those that make me rage. Especially those that make me rage.
- I spend way too much gold and time on stuff only to complete them. No reward, no title, just the feeling that something is completed. Dye, Skins, Minis, Achievement, etc.
- Sometime I’m a jerk and kick people that are not level 80 in dungeon without saying anything in chat or in the LFG description.
- Sometime I feel bad being a jerk. So when I’m in a dungeon party for 3 paths and the team is bad in the first path I said I need to go and change my status to offline so they don’t know that I’m back in the same dungeon with another group.
- I like hearing myself so I talk all the time in our guild voice chat.
I’m a filthy elistist and I approve this message. When I do speed run i don’t want to bring ppl that don’t run a good build or are not experienced, but I happy to help new players when they need it.
I’m happy for you, that open a good new portion of the game for you. Best part is that you figure that out by yourself. We talk about that and advice that for the last 2 years here on the forum and ppl still complain about dungeon and elitist.
A skin that you have in your inventory won’t need a charge, but a skin that is only in your wardrobe will cost you a charge.
(edited by Thaddeus.4891)
You will have to forgive me. I kind of instinctively assume anyone who says “zerg meta” has no idea what they are talking about.
All good.
It’s not an unjust assumption. I’d say the majority don’t, it’s pretty much a catch phrase now.
Really? That’s a bad mistake, who consider that a catch phrase? I would understand if zerk meta detractors would use that as a pejorative term, but that really don’t help their case, they just looks like they just spit what somebody else explain them.
Exactly this. Teamwork is not blasting your buddy’s fire field – you can screw that up and maybe the fight takes 20 seconds longer. Teamwork is something that if you fail at, your entire party fails. GW2 does have much teamwork at all… only forces via the environment (i.e. two people stand on a pressure plate).
Ok and if the Guardian don’t use Aegis of Lupi’s kick when the party expect him to? Or if the Mesmer don’t use feedback at the right moment when you melee the Dredge boss in fractal?
Fortunately, these thing can make your party fail, but you can play these part in other way so they can be harmless. Do you really want to put all into a pug hand. Do you really want to make sure that if that pug fail, you fail automatically without any question? That’s what you said, if the teamwork fail, the entire party fails. I don’t wanna play in that kind of game. I want teamwork to improve our run, not someone that will make me fail if we don’t do it the right way. Right now you can do dungeon the way you want, with the party you want, with the strategy you want. You can have teamwork to make the dungeon faster and easier or play independently if you need or want too.
Reasons that I see why we have a Berserker Meta and why its a sad state for the game:
- DPS is what is rewarded.
- Support, while powerful, is not largely effected by stats. You can run full Zerk and still have near equal use of Support and Control functions.
- There is no fear of failure. Almost all of the content is far too easy.
- There is no fear of death. None. There isn’t even an armor repair anymore. So a berserker dies? So what? They still got their hits in, they still got their credit.
- DPS is what is rewarded. Not just dps, but i’ll agree that its the main thing. And its not sad of broken. Its a good thing for a lot of ppl. That’s what make these discussion difficult because part of the community tolerate this state in the game but don’t like it, while the other part like it very much and just want to improve the current system, not change it. For this part of the community (myself included), know that DPS is the main aspect of the game and don’t want that to change.
- Support is powerful and is not linked to the stats. But its linked to the runes, trait, weapons and skills. Again, a part of the community think its a bad thing and the other part think is ok and trying to change this fundamental stuff will break the game.
- There is no fear of failure, everything is easy. Those meta elistist will ALL agree with you. We all play zerker meta because its the most efficient and we can survive wihtout anything else. But we already see a different meta in fractal level 50 where we talk about hammer guardian for protection or skale venom for weakness. More challenging content will make the game better (if they make challenging mode and not just boost the difficulty of game since new player will be crushed and quit).
- There is no fear of death. True. It could be nice if there was a system that reward ppl not dying in a dungeon. Like a scaled reward depending if you died zero, once or more maybe. This could force ppl to reach a balance between survivability and dps. But it could bring more drama between players. Someone angry when he die because he rezzed someone and lost part of his reward for example.
Why do you and so many others react so vehemently to the very thought? There could possibly be a solution out there that doesn’t send those of you that have put time and effort into ascended zerk gear into a panicked frenzy. It is POSSIBLE. Probable? No. But still possible.
Because most of these post are like :
This ’’Meta’’ has to end ; It has killed the diversity too long ; everyone wants to do speed Zerker clears and kicks you ; there is no real need for teamwork ; The root problem with the zerker is the lack of trinity ; Zerker meta is caused by one and only thing, absence of essential “roles” in PvE ; current “Go Zerk or GTFO” mentality.
And that’s from this thread only.
Why do you bring a Ranger? Because you want more damage buff and you already have a warrior.
You don’t have to do warriors first, rangers second. They are pretty interchangeable.
Well, the Warrior give about twice as much dmg buff to his party and have about 20% more personal dmg. So there is a really good reason to bring a Warrior before taking a ranger. But they do pretty much fill the same role.
And we’re not even going to mention Rangers.
LOL my bad. The worst part is that Ranger is my main character in tPvP. I play it almost everyday recently.
Let me correct that.
Why do you bring a Ranger? Because you want more damage buff and you already have a warrior.
Like Keksmuffin say, there is a good amount of build in PvE, WvW and sPvP that use between 2 and 5 pts in Virtue.
A lot of good major trait, but only in adept and master. There is no big grandmaster trait in Virtue around which you can form a good build.
Zerker meta is caused by one and only thing, absence of essential “roles” in PvE, aka trinity or similar system.
So until the game gets total overhaul, there will be zerker meta. Anet is clearly ok with that, so there’s no way to change that.tl,dr: take it or leave it.
Why do you bring a Guardian in a dungeon? Because you need him to protect your team with blind, aegis, reflection, protection so the team will be able to stay alive longer.
Why do you bring a Warrior in a dungeon? So he can provide offensive buff to the whole team and boost their dmg with banner, empower allies, vulnerability, might, etc.
Why do you bring a Elementalist? For its dps, Ice Bow, Might Stacking, Vulnerability.
Why do you bring a Thief? So he can use its stealth for runs, for the blinds, for the single target dps.
Why do you bring a Mesmer? So he can use its utility like portal to move the team faster or reach certain spot, or use its reflection.
Why do you bring Engineer? Because he can give crazy vulnerability and a bit of everything, making the perfect swiss knife.
Why do you bring Necromancer? Well tbh, you don’t bring a Necromancer
Maybe these are not role you would like, but these are role. As a guardian in my party, I know what my job is and people expect that I do my job.
It depend on you it it worth it or not.
- Making profit : It need a bit of research, planning, and playing with the TP. A lot of ppl don’t like that so, not everybody want to do it. But it can be really easy, when Anet release a new time-gated recipe for a new item, you will make a good profit during the first few weeks.
- Achievement points : If you go after that or you are just a completionist.
- Legendary : You need 2 crafting profession to make a Legendary.
- Ascended gear : You will need crafting profession to make armor and weapons. You can drop them, but it’s not at all reliable. You can drop the wrong stats and you probably never drop a complete set.
- Food : Food is usually sold and bought rather quickly (some food at least). If you want to use some higher end food, it will be cheaper to craft them, especially if you use them on a regular basis.
Those are the main reasons to complete your crafting. If none of those attract you, selling your materials could be a good thing for you. But keep in mind that if you play for a longer time, some of these goals could before important for you.
Does that mean that the following will be deleted or merge?
- Profession Balance
- Crafting
- Black Lion Trading Co
- Dungeons
- etc
I listed subforum that I use. I understand that some subforum are not really active or too specific. But you get from 44 subforums to 24?
I like the addition of an API subforum, but that’s pretty hardcore consolidation.
It really depend on which map you are on. If you are on a map like Kessex hills, where there is not much stuff to do there other than map completion or a map like fireheart rise where most ppl on the map are just waiting to go into the dungeon, then not much ppl will answer you on the map chat. And if they do, they don’t necessary represent the community.
I’m sure that a lot of people got bad experience with guild. Its just a group of people together. Sometime ppl in a guild can be a kitten or sometime you just don’t fit with the rest of the guild.
Look on forums, talk to people, try different guild until you find one that fit you. There is so many different kind of guild. Some are small with only friend in it, some are bigger so you always have ppl to play with, some are casual, some do mostly pve, other WvW, other play a bit of everything. Some are made of young adult around 20-30, other are more familial with kids and adults, etc.
A small problem?
I’d rather wait a minute longer than have the entire match screwed up even before it started. I played 10-15 matches, all pops in 1-2 minutes (requeues included).
In the last 2 years I get maybe 1 5vs4 with an AFK each month. Your lucky, now the average waiting time is 4-5min. That doesn’t count the usual 2min before the match start.
Justin ODell, what Demus talked about was a bug, but what OP said is just a bad design.
I was so hype that the new system. The first match went well, but after that it was hell. Same thing as OP, I have between 3 to 8 try each time. There is always 1 people afk, or looking at its inventory, TP, reading of something like that. There is always 1 or 2 ppl that don’t click accept forcing the matchmaking to reset.
To fix a small problem (afk ppl during at the start of a fight), you made the matchmaking so much reliant on human interaction that it rarely work fast AND you can’t do kitten while waiting, stuck at Heart of the Mist looking at the green grass.
I had to stop playing sPvP, it was just frustrating.
Just had a game with 3 ranger on one side. I was one of those 3 rangers so I can tell you that it wasn’t a party of 3 rangers together.
Toybox, its ok to play how you want. There is a lot of viable build (everything is viable anyway) for every profession and ppl can play these build and have fun. Its ok.
But when you write stuff like : ‘’The engineer has never been a DPS class and trying to foce it to be one seems to just kitten it’s potential in my opinion.’’
Engineer have the 3rd best dps of all profession so that’s not really true. And second, the goal of every profession in PvE is to bring as much DPS as possible while also bring what specific support each profession can do (stealth for thief, dmg mitigation for guardian, offensive support for warrior). For each profession, it’s the best balance between those 2 that become meta build.
Or when you write stuff like : ‘’Sadly, too many people seem too focused on damage output and not on what you can actually accomplish with your skills when utilized properly.’’ Again. DPS is one huge part of the game in PvE and again its a balance between the two. It make no sense to sacrifice DPS for more support when its not necessary and it doesn’t make sense to sacrifice support when you need it and your party get kill.
Of when you write stuff like : ‘’There’s nothing wrong with punching out DPS as an engineer, it just seems like a waste when it’s capable of so much more.’’
The nice thing about this game is that there is way to bring a really huge amount of support while sacrificing almost nothing in term of dps. 6/6/0/0/2 engineer still have access to a huge diversity of field, blast and support. Sacrificing some dps for some support when you need it, is ok. But going further and you get into those viable build that you can play if you want, but are not great build.
The stats are ok for any of those, but you can change the stats later for a better stats set.
By which you mean reskin a different weapon right?
and, yea, I would have preferred different stats, but hey, its not like I had to buy it.
Ya. You can use this weapon for now and eventually buy the right stats and transmute the skin to the new weapon.
I will concede the point that fractals 10+ “require” ascended. However, I still stand by the assessment that if you’re playing fractals, grind obviously isn’t an issue for you. They were added specifically for that type of people.
I wouldn’t concede that if I were you. You can reach level 19 without any AR without much problem. I put my first infusion at level 17. Anyway in the end you can complete ALL the content in fractal at level 1 so there is no content that require ascended gear.
But it was even better when Fractal came out. You couldn’t have enough AR to do more than level 39, so in level 40+ with or wihtout AR it changed nothing, you were one shot anyway by agony (there was some little trick, but it wasn’t about AR). Back then, AR was only view as training wheels for ppl that wanted to have an easy time in mid level fractal (20-30). Now I’m nostalgic.
The problem with Ranger Runes is that it’s probably a glitch. Don’t think that Anet really planned on this rune to work with miniature.
So you don’t like the game setting. There is different game with different setting. GW2 lore is impressive and apart from other MMO, which is a good thing.
1) I’M so kittening tired of Elves. They are everywhere, not a gram of imagination. Human, Elves, Drawfs, Orc and Troll everywhere. Something is seem that they don’t even try : Night Eleves, Dark Elves, Wood Elves, Snow Elves… It’s ok to have elves in you story/game, but not all fantasy story/game need to have some.
2) Sylvari, Asura, Charr, Centaur, Devourer, Dredge, Skritt, Elemental, Ettin, Ghost, Grawl, Griffon, Harpy, Hylek, Imp, Joton, Krait, Minotaur, Ogre, Ooze, Skale, Skrelk, Troll, Wind Rider,… I mean you talked about Elves Town, but you discard The Groove and Rata Sum? They have their own identity and they feel so different. One is a tree and the other one is a unique mix of magic and technology. Could the game have more epic fantasy place? Of course. A castle that you can enter, big enough that its a map on its own, that would be super cool. But that all about personal preference at this point.
3) Again, that’s not a issue. The game is more casual and family friendly, or course they won’t gonna do a dark game. There is game that are darker and game that are more colourful.
4) That’s just ridicule. You wanna spend less than 10$ on a credit card?? That your big deal.
Well Hammer is good in Guardian PvE, Guardian WvW Zerg or Warrior WvW Zerg.
The stats are ok for any of those, but you can change the stats later for a better stats set.
Well to be honest for all build posted on Metabattle, I consider them as a base (especially in WvW). You always need to change them to match your playstyle, your guild and the situation.
I have different set of armor, trinket, weapons, food and change my trait depending on my role in a particular raid.
You need to craft it with leatherworking not the Mystif forge.
Mystic forge don’t need any recipe, only crafting profession does.
My speculation is since we are getting 2 pieces of the carapace and luminescent armors in both episode 7 and 8, that they each will last one month.
So episode 7 to launch tomorrow, Wintersday launches on the 16th, episode 8 to launch in January.
Ya I think this would be more likely.
@ Malkavian. Tangled Paths is episode 6 and Seed of Truth is episode 7.
@ Belenwyn. Are you sure? Where did you got this information?
