Interesting, but I don’t understand the ranking from Nike.

If I check a party composition with a DPS warrior and Ranger, here are the best dps profession.
Thief 6-6-0-0-2 D/D 13353 dps
Ele 6-4-2-2-0 Staff 12962 dps
Engi 6-6-0-0-2 BD 12114 dps
Warr 6-5-0-0-3 GS-Axe/Mace 10931 dps
Mesmer 6-4-0-0-4 Sw/Pi+Fo 9697 dps
Guard 4-6-2-0-2 GS-Sw/F 25% UC 9153 dps
Necro 6-6-0-0-2 D/F-W 8881 dps
Ranger kitten -0-0 Offhand Training 8816 dps

Keep in mind two things. These are numbers against a single target. So profession like Thief (cleave only 2 ppl), Necro (don’t cleave) and Rangers (some pet don’t cleave) would drop in ranking in a fight against a group of enemy. And, this is the dps with zero vulnerability, so these numbers are a bit less than the usual numbers we see when we talked about max dps.

Ok, so it seem that I was off on the Warrior DPS. Like I said, I don’t play my warrior much so I wasn’t sure about the warrior dps. I usually see around 11-11.5K dps for a warrior full buff, but if its around 10.5-11k without vulnerability, then its another thing.

Also, the Engineer dps with BD seem unreliable (according to Dekeyz). The other build is more reliable, and give 11 706 dps, which don’t change the ranking.

Mesmer is high on this list. They go higher in the list the longer the fight, but since most fight in dungeon are short, this ranking is not really realistic since they waste time summoning phantasm. Their dps will also suffer against a AoE boss where their phantasm could die.

Guardian DPS with 100% UC uptime is less than 10,000dps. Warrior. even with the nerfs smokes that.

Are you trolling?. Guardian auto-attacking with his sword do 9.1k dps wihtout UC (that’s like the easiest dps to calculate that i could find). How can UC + rotation with a GS could only give him a 10% increase in dps, when UC alone is 20% and since its multiplicative it add more around 45% in dmg. This is nonsense.

Guardian dps is AIDS unless you can Smite a large hitbox. The guardian weapon skills that do good damage are on long cool downs and aren’t even that good.

Even with 100% uptime of UC guardians were/are barely equal to warriors.

The dps of a Guardian full buff without UC is 11.3K dps. I didn’t play my warrior for a long time so maybe i’m wrong. The only recent information on the DPS of a warrior is Nike, that calculate it to 10.9k dps. And on the forum, I always see numbers around 11k and 11.5k dps recently. So maybe I’m wrong Hybrid. Tell me what dps do you think the warrior have. 12k?, 12.5K?, 13K? If you think that warrior have better dps than guardian even with 100% UC that mean that you think that a warrior have currently 14k+dps.

Or maybe you question the number of 11.3k dps for the guardian wihtout UC? Tell me where i’m wrong if you have better numbers.

Ya, ppl used to be around the old bank, trading post, mystic forge and Trading Post. Right now, there is nothing there anymore. Ppl are also more spread out. All the stuff used to be in the middle. Right now, you have a bank and a tp really close in the north and just next to a working wp. You have trading post, bank, guild bank and crafting station in the south, but the wp is not working. You have a bank, tp, crafting station and mystic forge in the west.

Guardians have had higher DPS than warriors with perma 25 might+fury since like, forever.

Well its all about UC. With max buff but wihtout UC, guardian dps is about 11-11.5k dps, which is a little bit over a full buff Warrior right now. But its less than the dps of the warrior before the last nerf. With UC, the max dps of a guardian skyrocket to about 13.5k dps. But it never really reach that since you rarely have Aegis on you all the time, especially in some fight when you get hit a lot by small attacks). So ya, guardian have the capability to have higher dps than warrior before the last nerf, but it wasn’t all the time. And in some content, like in fractal, where you needed master of consecreation, Guardian always had a bit less dps than a warrior. Of course this doesn’t count reflection dmg.

Anyway. Before the last patch. Guardian and Warrior were close. They could exchange place in term of dps ranking depending on the situation. After the recent nerf to warrior, Guardian is always on top of a warrior.

Berserker, power major, precision and ferocity minor.

Ferocity major doesn’t exist yet.

WvW and PvE have extremely different requirements, so you should think carefully about what WvW gear you want.

So if I focus on wvw, which gear do I need?

You shouldn’t focus on a specific gear in WvW. You should focus on a build so that everything work together. For exemple, you could play Longbow with zerker gear, stay outside the zerg and kill every elementalist, necro and thief that support the ennemy zerg. Or you could use a mix of soldier and zerker so you can also join the fight in the zerg while using GS. Or you could use a condition trap Ranger to roam, etc. You can find complete build on different website or build your own.

In PvE, its simple. Go for the maximum of zerker without dying too much.

Suggestion regarding excess bloodstone dust

~1 stack of Bloodstone Dust just from running my usual dungeon tour and then faffing about in Silverwastes. Usually what I make daily gets eaten by Mawdrey, but there are leftovers and the ~150 stacks of Bloodstone Dust on my mules are giggling in their safety.

Ya true. I did so much dungeon in the first year and a half that right now I only do like 2 paths per week when my guildmates ask me to join. So right now I can slowly decrease my amount of bloodlust in my bank with mawdrey 2. But Silverwaste is also a huge source of bloodlust. So if you are doing dungeon and silverwaste you are doom lol. Don’t know why you can’t make mawdrey 2 eat more than 3-5 times per day. They should remove that limit.

@ Rothem. Fun is subjective, but objectively the Guardian is on the top of the list in WvW zerg. Especially in coordinated group.

Guardian, Warrior, Necro and Elementalist are the core of any WvW coordinated zerg.

You can have Mesmer for portal, veil. You can have thief or Ranger for anti-periphery. But in the end, they should be a really small part of your zerg.

Ya the list of Yelloweyedemon don’t seem legit.

True thief can have better dps than Ele against a small single-target (where meteor shower and ice bow are not that good), but still. In most situation the Ele will be ahead.

Guardian do more dps than ranger and Warrior since the last patch. Guardian are Warrior were pretty close before, with the guardian doing more dps in some situation only. But since the last nerf to the warrior, guardian went ahead.

That 4 warrior + 1 mesmer is about 2 years old. It was the meta so long ago, but it’s not anymore.

Phalanx Strength Build- What I'm Looking For?

@Sagramor, a couple months ago, Phalanx with GS only was view as superior in term of dps and might stacking. But Nike took into account the vulnerability from Axe/Mace and in the end GS – Axe/Mace came a little bit ahead. They both work almost as good, with only a slight advantage for the GS-Axe/Mace build.

@Breidr, Phalanx build in PvE is super friendly for beginner and pugs. That’s boost the dmg of you group a lot since, most pugs don’t blast might. It’s also pretty good in high level fractal where blasting might can be a bit harder. You often need to dodge in the middle of your rotation as a elementalist, while PS warrior can just dodge and get back into giving might right away. The problem is that the Rune of Strength is a big part of the build, but the price of the rune is stupidly high right now. It will cost 85 gold to get the 6 you need. So even if, its a great build for pugs, it may not be worth the cost. Ppl started to use rune of Holbreak to replace the costly rune of strength, but now the price of Holbreak is also high (about 60 gold for a complete set). You can still use the PS build, without these rune, but you will give less might. It wouldn’t competitive, but it will do the job in pugs.

I don’t see the point of this idea. Craft bloodstone brick for the amount that you think you will need in the future, make mawdrey and make mawdrey 2 eat all the remaining bloodlust. Its not like it’s hard to get by, if you need more in the future just stop using mawdry and your stock will replenish.

They already gave us a way to dispose of our bloodlust, it would be better if they gave us a way to dispose of another thing, like empyreal fragment.

How do I check my zone/map completion?

I can’t find it in options. Perhaps it will unlock when I level up?

You need to be in the zone to see it. Otherwise you would see the completion of another zone. If you see no completion at all, its weird. Maybe post a screenshot of your map so we can see what you have. Maybe you are in a zone where there is no completion map (the 2 new maps don’t count in the world completion, don’t remember if they show up in map completion).

Alternatively, if you put your mouse over the name of a zone (in the big map), it will give your map completion.

The good answer is all of the above. Green appear when your normal stats are modified. It could be a buff like a banner, signet, passive skills, boons, etc. But also when they are modified by the scaling in lower level maps.

Acinonyx Rex — you make good points, as have others, about a “known issues” thread. It could be a tricky thing to make work well — even just determining what’s included — but after I’ve gotten a few other forum projects completed I plan to investigate the options, because I can see this doing a lot of good.

For the sticky. Why not make a sticky that link to this find of thread were we discuss about a known issue. In the sticky you could have the brief description wrote by you, the brief description of the status (like we are searching the issue, we are working on a way to fix it, fixed, etc).

That way, ppl could go through the sticky and find the issue rapidly, know if you guys know about it and not make a bunch of tread on the same issue.

Its for sPvP. Not much ppl are using this kind of build in WvW so only S/D build you gonna find for WvW are single person trying a build, not a collective effort to find the best build. But in sPvP, S/D is a relatively good build, so you can find information on it.

At least that give you a start to adapt it to WvW.

Auramauncer in pve is not really a thing anymore.

You have three main family of build in PvE for Elementalist

Staff : Its all about DPS there. You have support skill in water and such, but you pretty much are fire camping with this build.

Scepter/Focus or Scepter/Dagger : This might be your thing. Your goal here is mainly might stacking. You have a rotation that can give 18 stack of might to your party. There is several variation of this build from more DPS oriented, but only stack might, to less dps, but stacking might, fury and vulnerability. Like you can see, not much defensive support, but a high amount of offensive support. So basically, you are stacking might and fury, then switching to your conjure Light Hammer to do dmg and keeping up your might. So you are always switching attunements and weapons for a far more active gameplay than a staff Elementalist. (I’m talking dungeon specifically here).

Dagger/Focus : Similar to the last build. You trade of 1 blast finisher and a bit of DPS for more survivability. You stick most of the time with D/F so you always have access to some great defensive skills from your focus. But these skill are for personal defence and are not really support skill for your team. Its mostly used in difficult content like high level fractal where S/X Elementalist have a tough job sticking in melee range and completing their rotation without dodging in the middle of it.

In WvW if you do Zerg, you need a staff, which is probably one of the most support build. But, in a pug zerg, you won’t see much of your support noticed and used. You need to work with other profession to blast your water field, fire field, static field, etc.

I don’t think they changed the way you can get the shoulders. So for now, its 2K crest, which is not that bad. I played maybe 5-6 hours in silverwaste until now and I got 1.5k crest. And it was fun to play there.

We don’t know, what will cost the other pieces of armor. 2k crest, I have fun getting that. 4k crest, I start to feel the farm. 6k crest? I think i’ll stop going after the armor.

What part of the game? sPvP, Roaming, Zerg WvW, PvE?

1) Yes it is. Its in a good place right now for sPvP and Roaming. If you are talking about solo dungeon, ya its one of the best profession for that.
2) PvE : Staff, Scepter/Focus or Scepter/Dagger ; Roaming : D/D ; WvW Zerg : Staff ; sPvP : D/D or Staff are the best, but all weapons set can do a good job.
3) Too much different settings, you will really need to give us a specific game mode.
4) This is a high risk, high reward profession. You are squishy by design, use it, don’t try to fight it by using too much defensive stats and destroying the main advantage of the Elementalist : its high dmg. This profession is the best to get better at dodge and moving.

The problem is that Ranger is in a weird place.

It can be ok in PvE since the beginning, but a lot of profession are far better than Ranger. Only 1 build in PvE could bring something good and it would still be in the bottom dungeon profession. Most other build were just horrible. To make things worst, the Sword is hard to control because of the animation. So most good player changed to another profession and most ranger were just bad or casual.

In PvP, it was always good, but not in the best.

With the buff in dps the ranger got, the distance between ranger and other profession is shorter. The range have now more good build for PvE, but it is still in the bottom profession in term of dungeon.

In PvP, thing got a bit better with the meta build of LB/GS power ranger. Its all about burst, so in the right situation this build can almost instant kill ppl. Ppl getting killed by that will claim to be OP and need to be nerf. But, this build is pretty weak against reflect and condition. It is also a glassy build so if we miss our burst, we can be in dangerous situation.

In the end. A lot of ppl don’t really play ranger and don’t really know the profession. Claiming it to be useless because a lot of casual player used to play bad build or claiming it to be OP because they got instant kill in PvP while not trying to find the obvious weakness of the build that they can use to win fight against them.

That’s stupid. Very few ppl use condition Elementalist or Guardian in WvW or sPvP because its bad. But still you see them as OP compare to necro while you play a bad build, which the wrong weapon?

Try a 0/6/4/0/4 build with scepter/dagger

Not really. It would nice to know if he make the math assuming that adrenaline is 100%, because that’s probably the biggest issue with the nerf. Adrenaline drop like crazy after only a couple of second without fighting. That drop even more the warrior dps in a dungeon settings.

I’m not part of a pvp guild. But I play with my guild in sPvP from time to time. We are two in my guild that play on a regular basis in PvP and from time to time 1 or 2 other guildmates join us.

When i start a new profession, I usually play about 30 games in hot joins, then play only in Team Arena. Yup, some time you end up with bad players against a complete team and its terrible. But mostly, you can have fun in those game. And by december 2, Anet said that Team Arena will be better at matchmaking. So if you are with 4 pugs, you will more likely to be put against another group of pugs and not a guild team.

On december 2, they will also group up solo and team arena together and will create a new tier where it will be unranked match. It will work like Team arena, but without any rank it will be less likely that you will be put against some of the best players and guild team. Since these ppl will probably want to play mostly ranked team arena to improve their rank on the leaderboard.

You missed a feature pack.
- Trading Post overhaul with a way better search tools to find items
- Collections which are items that you can collect. Once you have them all you have a reward and Achivement points. Some are nice to go after, some reward are nice (like karmic converter, ascended pieces, etc). Other rewards are really bad. Its a concept that they also use in Living Story now.
- Miniature and Finisher wardrobe. This is so nice. Now you can choose a mini everywhere, don’t need a place in your inventory and it’s always on. No need to use it everytime you die or switch map.
- They changed how to level up. All my character are level 80 so can’t say much. But didn’t hear much praise about that change.
- You can craft exotic back item with a infusion slot. Pretty good for casual player.
- Instance owner is better now. No more problem when the instance owner quit the party or things like that.
- Guild are 100% cross server now. Guild bank, buff, guild mission, etc. No need to guest anymore.
- They added a pvp unique armor. A option allow you to see everybody in spvp as a human. No more difficulty to spot that little asura ranger

You also missed a new season of WvW, halloween (pretty much same as the other years), and the new map Silverwaste (which continue to grow like Dry Top did).

[General Discussion] Rewarding: PvP > PvE ?

It would take time to improve the system so it can’t be abused. I prefer to have a reward slightly less rewarding than PvE, so that it’s just not worth trying to abuse it.

They could just increase a little bit, the amount of gold reward for a win or a lose. Right now, if you have a good team and are lucky enough so that you can form match fast, you could win 6 match in team arena in an hour (if you are lucky). That mean 1.8 gold per hour at best. The amount of gold you receive at the end of a dungeon is usually 1.29 gold per path, and you can do about 3-4 path per hours wihtout much problem. That’s about 5 gold per hour. You could double the amount of gold reward per match in sPvP and dungeon would still be better in term of reward.

At least that way, you would have a reward closer to PvE in sPvP, but very few ppl would try to farm it since dungeon would still be a more reliable source of income.

I agree that this part is boring. We sit back and look 2 ele solo it without difficulty. Or we gang these burrows in second.

But the problem is that at level 35, this part is super hard. Its easy now because we do so much more dmg, but back in the days it was view as almost impossible for level 35. It’s been a long time since I last did it with a group of 5 level 35. Someone know what it looks like now?

It would not be a problem with me, all my character are level 80, but it could be a huge obstacle for new player. Its the first dungeon after all.

Well, of course a sudden influx of PvE player in sPvP would decrease the quality of game for a short period of time. People are curious to know what’s new.

But in the end, ppl that don’t really like pvp will quit and other will start to like it, getting better, knowing more and more about the game and will become a sPvP player.

I always loved sPvP, but I also wanted to craft a lengendary and I could do that if I didn’t played PvE mostly when the game started. Most of friend didn’t want to do sPvP because it didn’t give them much reward. Now, the third of my guild play sPvP on a daily basis.

Personally, I’m fine with the amount of reward right now. But I won’t be mad if they increase it and suddently a bunch of PvE player join on the fun. Anyway, with the new way it will work after december 2, I really don’t think that there will be much noobs PvE player joining in Team Arena.

Hey profession have different balance between defense and offense

Warrior have no active defense but they have high armor and high hp
Guardian have a lot of active defense but they have high armor and low hp
Elementalist have some active defense, low armor and low hp, but they have the best dps
etc.

That way, each profession feel different.

- I do my daily.
- Gather Elder wood with my 8 characters to get Foxfire to craft Mawdrey.
- Craft my daily Damask and the 2 daily recipe for Mawdrey
- Do a couple of Jumping puzzle to get enchanted map piece for the Treasure Hunter collection
- Do some tPvP team arena

I had more good experience with ppl in PvP than bad one. Yes of course there is always some QQing in map chat when one team is losing and 1 guys is blaming everybody, but I just ignore those. Talk to nice ppl and add some ppl to my friend list to keep playing with team.

Viable S/S and GS build?

I was just about to post that link in the thread and ask if that was still considered good but you beat me to it.

You mentioned I’d need to change things up a bit for zerg play, what do you recommend?

I recommend you to play a Hammer shout frontliner build in zerg. The GS + S/X build is a roaming build. You are good at single target, and have limited amount of toughness, healing, condi removal, making you easy to down in a zerg fight.

If you really want to keep GS + S/S in zerg fight, then I don’t have much to recommend. Maybe using soldier gear. There is something else that we call destroyer warrior. It use GS + S/W in zerg fight. But it’s an anti-periphery build. Basically, you do the same job as a thief in a zerg. You stay out of the melee and pick Elementalist and Necro one by one. It is also a great scout in front of the zerg because of all the mobility and speed that GS + S give you. That’s great if you have a Zerg guild that work together, but that’s pretty boring and frustrating if you try to do that in a pug zerg.

That’s the same number of blasts as you get with S/D and one less than with S/F (excluding the 1-2 extra blasts from LH AA).
A lone D/F ele in fractals should be able to maintain between 15-20 might for the party (assuming str runes) on his own. A warhorn blast or any other outside help and your party might should be set.

Actually. S/D and S/F have the same amount of blast. D/F have 1 less. I agree with your point, D/F do the job done pretty good in fractal. Just pointing out that a lot of ppl forget about Churning Earth because of the cast time, but it still work.

I don’t like LH for many fights in fractals due to that you either have to interrupt the AA by dodging or you’ll be locked out of LH because it wont be recharged for the second fight. I know its very popular to stay close to the theory, and on paper LH looks great. My personal opinion is however that there are very few fights in fractals where LH > D/F in practice.

Though, I have to agree that in some cases PS might is more reliable than to trust an ele not to fail a dodge.

I think you missed my point. I wasn’t arguing that LH Ele are better in fractal than D/F ele. My point was, in ideal group ya LH Ele would be the best, but in fractal PS Warrior do a more reliable job than LH Ele, because not that many LH Elementalist can do their job completely in Fractal.

In the end, we pretty much say the same thing. I wasn’t talking about D/F because it wasn’t part of the discussion at that moment. It was over the usefulness of a PS warrior in fractal.

Ya, this is probably the best way to get Ascended Amulet. But watch out for other kind of ascended trinket. There is other better way to acquire ascended accessories (guild missions) and ascended rings (fractals).

Master Salvage kit is nice, but you can craft Mystic Salvage kit without much problem. They have the same effect as master salvage kit, but you’ll have 250 use, not only 25. Much easier and cost less. Black Lion should be keep for specific situation (if you want to recover a rune). Usually, I keep 1or 2 stack of black lion salvage kit and use all the rest on exotic. When i run out of black lion salvage kit (but still have my 1-2 stack for specific situation), then i use mystic salvage kit on exotikittenil I get other black lion salvage kit.

This is what would fit you the best. As offhand Warhorn or Shield would be better, but its not that big of a deal if you adjust it for Sword if you prefer that style.

Keep in mind that it a Roaming build for WvW. Won’t be that good for Zerg or Open World. For Open world, that’s not a big deal (everything can work there). But for zerg, you probably gonna have to adjust the build more.

All part of the game need attention. Why being upset because there will be an update for 1 part of the game. This is not out of touch. A lot of ppl are playing sPvP. Just because you don’t check out the part of the forum that talk about sPvP, that doesn’t mean that nobody play it.

If you go through the profession sub forum, the vast majority of the post are about either sPvP or WvW. Not much about PvE build these days.

You should have seen that coming. There is always extreme on both side. Ppl that can’t stand meta build and dps oriented build on one extreme.

And ppl that can’t stand the lost of 3% dps for a 33% decrease in incoming dmg. Or the lost of 30% dps lost for a reliable constant 25 stack of might for the whole group.

You either do a casual run where you can bring anything or a record run where you need to bring the best composition with player that can melee everything without more support. There is nothing in between right?

First of all. Forget about the healing stuff. You can, but that rarely, if ever, worth the amount of pts you will put in that.

1) Guardian in PvE is about defensive active support. Blind, Aegis and Reflection will allow you to keep your team alive and at 100% for short period of time. This is perfect if you play with good dps group because the guardian will keep your team at 100% to keep the scholar runes 10% dmg activate, and the team will kill most of the stuff before the guardian will run out of active support. You need to know the encounter and the animation to make the best out of your active defence, so you use them in the best timing and don’t waste them by simply spamming them. This is extremely active gameplay if you want to play the meta. Protection is also a big part of the Guardian gameplay in harder content like Fractal high level with the hammer.

2) WvW. There the guardian is a buff kitten in the melee train. Stability, Protection, Might and condi removal is the main responsibility of the guardian. Other than that, like the warrio stay together in the melee train, follow your commander, time your damage and stay alive.

3) sPvP. Two main gamestyle for the guardian there. Meditation Guardian are powerful at dealing dmg if you can stay in melee. Otherwise the Bunker guardian job will be go at one point (usually mid) and survive while supporting more dpsing teamates to keep the point occupied. Basically, you stay alive on the point to give time to your teamate to come help you.

I don’t have experience at all with roaming with Guardian (prefer other profession for that) so I won’t talk about that much. And you also have other kind of gameplay that you can do, but are usually not the best way to play a Guardian. They are viable, but less optimal. I mostly gave you, where the guardian can excel and what you can expect if you run that way.

It is a dps loss. Compare GS dps with Hammer dps? how is that not a dps loss….
and yes i agree with ps wa being good in fractals but dungeons no.

I had good and smooth kills on both but if the guard was using gs instead of hammer it went a bit faster and also not destroying the fire field with light field spam.

But they talked about PS in fractal from the beginning.

Btw. Hammer only guardian is 96-97% of the dps of a GS-Sw/F Guardian. So, ya its a dps lost, but that’s almost not even worth mentioning at that point. Especially, since the protection can help a lot your team to stay in melee and don’t run in range. Keep in mind that not all group can melee everything in fractal. If you can melee wihtout a Hammer guardian, that fine. But a lot of party need the protection in some fractal.

In the end. PS Warrior is not worth the DPS lost in coordinated run. But, that’s only the case if the group can have a LH Elementalist that can stack might without much problem. Having that in most dungeon is easy. In fractal, that’s a bit harder. Some can, but the majority of LH Elementalist can’t do it all the time in fractal. Against some boss, they will down or will need to stop their might stacking to avoid dmg, making them less reliable compare to a PS warrior as a source of might.

I’m not sure why people keep quoting this “every 2 weeks” crap…

We have had 6 LS updates since January… and this was probably the last one for the year…

That is one update every 2 months… the same as WoW… GW2 does not have some special super fast update schedule that people seem to think it has…

Well to be fair, you had 39 update since october 2012. This mean about one update each 22 days. If you start to count in april 2013 when they start to talk about 1 update each 2 weeks, then its 1 update each 18 days, which is basically 1 update each 2 weeks.

In order to do an expansion — if one is not currently in the pipeline already — it can be safely assumed that ArenaNet must do one of two things. They must either 1) allocate their current developer staff to work solely on an expansion, or 2) they must hire additional staff to work solely on an expansion while current developers continue providing regular content (or vice-versa).

This is problematic.

If they choose to allocate their current development team to working on an expansion exclusively, then very little to no new content will be released until the expansion is completed. Let’s assume 6 months to a year for this to occur. That’s an awful lot of players who will simply be bored out of their skulls and quit until an expansion arrives. Ergo, that’s an awful lot of players who, by default, won’t be purchasing anything from the marketplace and therefore, won’t be helping to fund ArenaNet’s day-to-day operations.

So that leaves hiring an entire development staff to work on an expansion while current staff works on continuing to provide regular content (or vice-versa). But is this feasible? I don’t know, I’m not in ArenaNet’s finance and payroll departments.

I just feel like, at this point, it’s a lose-lose situation for ArenaNet. Either keep staff numbers the same and re-allocate resources at the risk of losing money (players), or spend more money now on the hope that an expansion would allow you to recoup.

True. But they have a number of staff depending on their income. An expansion will give an increase of income with which they can hire more ppl. Probably allocating part of their current staff on the expansion with a couple of newly hired ppl, while the rest of their current staff can continue to work on the Living Story with a couple of newly hired ppl.

The point here is the entrance of income to boost their capability to do more job. That way the game is still free to play since ppl don’t need to buy the expansion. But if ppl want, they can give money to Anet by buying the expansion to get access to that new content.

Considering it happens at least 2 dozen times a day every day, yes.

I can guarantee it happens at every single event, some boneheaded ranger using LB4 inappropriately.

I’m using the skill 4 about 10 times during a game of 8 minutes in sPvP. If you don’t like ranger, ask for no Ranger in your lfg. Oh but I also hate when a Necromancer use fear or have minions. We should remove that too. Ya but sometime the guardian do banish with the hammer, we should remove that too. But I hate when thief scorpion wire, that too should be remove no?

If I could ban rangers from landscape zones I really would.

So best I can hope for is idiot proofing the offensive skill by changing it to an immobilize, which would still be powerful in PVP.

No it wouldn’t. We already have immobilize. But skill 4 LB is our only knock back. Precious to stop someone for stomping a team-mate. Get over yourself or don’t play with ranger.

You can’t decide who’s on the map. Are you just not grasping that concept? I’d love to just remove all rangers from the game, maybe make ranger an SPVP only class that’d be wonderful, but you can’t, you can’t just “not play with rangers”. Wow man how many times do I need to repeat that? You just might be one of the players I’m talking about with that kind of mental fortitude.

But if they could just fix the problem with the 3rd auto-attack I would be fine. The sword fill its role of sustain between GS burst just fine. Its not a complete useless weapon.

To be honest, I don’t see how or why the sword would fill a role of sustain between greatsword bursts, when sword auto and greatsword auto basically do the same damage (greatsword does 1035 based damage with a full chain in 2.5 seconds, sword does 1042 base damage with a full chain in 2.5 seconds). In fact, greatsword auto could be considered superior thanks to better cleaving, less mechanical issues and might on the third attack.

In a PvE situation where you want to maximize damage, it would actually make more sense to use a mace or even hammer alt.

You can give any number for the dmg it depend on the stats of each character. We’ll talk about Coefficient because they don’t change in any situation. Both take 2.5 second. Total coefficient for sword is 1.24 and for the GS, its 1.12. So its about 10% more dps for the sword auto-attack. After, you need to take into account the traits. Best dps build right now give you 5% dmg for your gs but 10% dmg for the sword. After that, you have Right-Hand Strenght that give you 15% more crits chance with 1 handed weapons AKA the sword. I don’t want to do the math for the total difference in term of dps between sword and gs, but that put the sword auto-attack further ahead of the GS auto-attack.

Its not like I’m pulling that out of my kitten . GS + Sword/Focus is view as the best dps build for guardian and for a long time. You use your GS skill 2 to 5, then switch to Sword for auto-attack while waiting for you GS burst to get ready again.

Hammer/GS also work that way. GS for burst and Hammer auto-attack in between. Hammer auto-attack only is right behind with about 96-98% of the dps. Greatsword only is about 90-95% of the dps of GS+Sw/F.

But in the end, they are all viable build.

sPvP give you decent amount of gold. If you do Team arena you can get between 1.5-2gold and 5-6 boxes of loots per hour. Not as good as dungeon, but if you like doing sPvP its a nice stable income of gold.

You need a mix of vitality, toughness and healing power to reach the best resistance. Toughness work better with healing, but can’t protect you against condition.
Vitality will protect you against condition, but decrease the effectiveness of healing compare to toughness.

Tougness is only useless in PvE where you can predict what the npc will do and use active defense to keep you alive. Its good for PvE for new player or less skilled player and its really good in PvP.

There is nothing to fix here.

Guess want, EOTM ppl want more love and content too.

I’d prefer they actually work on real WvW, a game mode that needs the love a lot more than EOTM. Anet could make a map that consisted of 9 Skyhammer maps connected by rope bridges and if they put enough champs and “capture events” in there, people would play it 10 hours a day for the next 8 years because LOOOTZ!!!!

Let’s not pretend people are in EOTM for the content. They’re there for the low risk + high rewards and super-simplistic gameplay.

Personally, I WOULD LOVE that idea lol. I mostly play WvW and sPvP, so I prefer that Anet put their time on that content. But I know that other ppl play other content. We can’t just say that the content that we play need more love and more attention compare to another content, just because you don’t like that content or find that its easy content or that ppl only play that because of the reward.

I was always against there thread, screaming for an expansion. But as time pass, I changed opinion. I’m only practical. Anet have a limited amount of financial support from the gem store. They can give us small amount of content or nothing at all for a while and then a big update like the feature patch. But I would like to have an expansion that ppl will pay for it. This would be a good money influx for Anet. Enough to fix a lot of the stuff that drag for so long.

- Precursor crafting
- New Legendary weapons and new legendary equipment
- New Weapons type and expansion of the current weapons to other profession
- Improving the Commander tag with new functionality
- New sPvP maps and other type of game other than conquest
- New profession and races
- SAB
- Crafting to 500 for chef and Jeweler.

All of that been spoken of by Anet staff.

Add to that GvG, Guild Halls, better home instance, new skins, more level in fractal, etc

With the amount of money they can from the gem story, they just don’t seem to keep up with all the stuff that they want to do and we want to have. A paid expension could fix most of that. Clear the sheet for new idea and let them focus on the storyline.

Call down guys. Its not because you don’t like that content that it’s kitten. I don’t like that content, I hated it when my WvW raid leader brought the guild there a couple time. But still, if some ppl like it there is no reason to insult them.

- Its rewarding.
- You can play with a lot of friends
- It easy to get into
- It doesn’t need much skill so its perfect for ppl that don’t want to get into dungeon or sPvP.
- It’s just fun for some ppl.

No need to be kittens about it because you don’t like that content. WvW ppl want more love and content. Dungeon ppl want more love and content. sPvP ppl want more love and content. Open World ppl want more love and content. Guess want, EOTM ppl want more love and content too.
