For the Destroyer of World when you stack him he won’t spawn Destroyer of Earth. But you like to knockback you and when he does you are no longer stack on him and he spawn Destroyer of Earth. Either you DPS as fast as possible, or use stability. With 2 Guardian with 10 in virtues you can have almost constant Stability, but you could try to see the knocback animation and time you stability for that (or block, etc).

ESO is a generic MMO with outdatted quest system that will only last because of fan of the series.

Wildstar is a WoW 2.0 and even if there is a good chance that he can succeed, it will attract another kind of player. GW2 and Wildstar is for two really different target audience.

EverQuest next propably won’t be this year so.

You want a proof? People use to farm CoF path 1 in 4-5min and everybody was using 4 Warrior and 1 Mesmer back then. They nerf the timewrap by half and the runs were stil around 4-5min.

Claimed all-time record for CoF path 1.

Wow calm down. It been 8 month the last time i speed run CoF path 1. Sorry if i use a approximation of the time and not the real one. 4-5min compare to 5:13 is not that big of a difference. Its ok 4-5min is not right, i should have said 5-6min. Sorry about that, but i didn’t gave a bullkitten number.

In response to your third comment, of course it would still be better but significantly less popular because right now its a technique that gets you through most of the pve instances in this game. Clearing most of the mobs in dungeons/fractals comes through this method which just leaves you which a boss. For the most part, if you run a full zerker party with 25 stacks of might, 25 stacks of vulnerability, and 2 eles with fgs, and timewarp, you can pretty much kill the boss in 5-10 seconds. Anet has said stuff like this is just clever game mechanics at work. The first problem with this is that you literally have to toggle an option in the games menu to get like 1000% more dps from the fgs, thats laughable in the first place. Secondly, getting 25 might, 25 vulnerabiliity, isn’t super hard to do, which is why all together killing the bosses and mobs is pretty easy.

1) 25 might and Vulnerability is not hard if you build your toon right. If a group make specially to max their DPS could not be able to reach these numbers, then any other group could not get any use out these boons/condition. I don’t see the point, are you saying that might/vulnerability is a bad design and should not be in the game? Would you prefer a minigame or something so might and vulnerability need players skills to be achieved?
2)My 3rd point was about bug, exploit, fgs. All of those DONT MATTER ONE BIT. Wihtout them, we kill boss in 11sec, with them we kill them in 6 sec. Ya FGS help, but a good dps group will beat the kitten out of boss even without them. Removing those things will change ZERO, NADA, NOTHING in the game. You want a proof? 3) Now again, check an option to 1000% more DPS and easy mode. Are you serious man. You are better than that. You know so little of the PvE game (that i know for a fact since i play with you), why saying false things like that, YOU NEVER TRIED A FULL DPS TEAM, how can you that something is so freaking easy when you never tried it. Running a full DPS team is the hardest thing in the game, one mistake and you are done. But if you can pull that off, that off you’re fun will be fast and you gonna feel great, because it was a challenge and you had to work for it.

Hamartia's S/D Builds Still Viable?

to answer your question sirrealist.

This build is a S/X + LH meta build. But even if it use a powerful concept, its not the best build around to do that. Its pretty good, but still need to switch around. Like Neko said, take a look at Dkeys’ guide for clear and complete information on that kind of build.

PvE only.

Although tbh, I can’t picture any good scepter build that doesn’t use Fresh Air. I would find some way to put those 10 pts into air and get it. Look up videos on ‘Fresh Air, Scepter’ and they will explain why Fresh Air is strong (PvE and PvP)

Well TBH I can’t picture any good scepter build that use Fresh Air in PvE. In PvP its one of the best build i heard (not using my Ele in PvP so i don’t really know). But in PvE, scepter is a really ordinary weapons, usually use to stack might only, making Fresh Air useless.

So…you admit that there are plenty of non-descript lfg posts to join, but you are still bothered that some small percentage of people (as you admit yourself) ask for zerker? You think that everyone should just get a guild, and only ever just put the path number in lfg?

I have 1.5k ap. Does it annoy me when I see “5k+ only” posts? A little. But honestly it doesn’t effect me at all. They could say “Read: Purple weapons= auto kick i hate purple” and it would be fine. It’s an “unreasonable” requirement by some standards, but it only effects the people who choose to join. If it is easy to get a group for any path (which having just pugged the most annoying paths at ungodly hours of the morning, I can say for sure it is) then there is nothing to complain about.

Are you speaking to me? Because i have no problem with any LFG post. I’m saying the same thing as you btw.

1) The Shaman on 49-50, i want to have a full DPS team there to kill the grubs as fast as possible and not getting overrun by them. Most people that did level 79-80 use to run DPS build there too. So your point is false.

2) You say the shaman is a good fight because it push people to dodge? That exactly what the full DPS build do. You can’t survive if you don’t dodge at the right time and manage well enough your endurance, block, evade, etc.

3) Cornerstack, FGS, bug etc. All those help, but even if they would not exist anymore, full DPS would still be better.

4) The game punish full DPS build. Its hard to play full DPS, why people are always saying its so easy. Its easy if you have the skill and the knowledge of what you are doing. But its harder than any other build. When me and my friend play with our tankier toons, we have no problem at all, we don’t really need to pay attention and complete all content with ease. But when you go full DPS (the party as a whole, where nobody is there to revive you if you make a mistake) then its whole new situation. I really wonder how many of these people really tried a full DPS team (not full zerker, full DPS) in another path than CoF path 1 and still complain in the forum how its so easy.

SorrowEmbrace say it right. The post you see on the LFG are usually those that stay there longer because less people enter them. If you see 5 post about +5K AP, full Zerker Warrior/Guardian. During the 10min that they stay up, maybe 50 other post filled up. These post make up a really small part of the game. I’m a full DPS advocate. I always talk about the meta and how it far better. I slowly push all my friend toward that. But still i don’t ask that in my post. If i want a full DPS group i ask my guild not pugs.

Here a build that could work for you Phantomtear.

Hammer build. Its less DPS than S/F – GS, but it still good. Like the meta you support your team with virtues (Blind, Might, Vulnerability, aegis), and utilities (reflect, aegis, etc). But the hammer build also bring constant protection to your team in melee, which is really powerful. This build is especially good in fractal, but you can an awesome job in dungeon too. Of course this build is more support oriented, so you should go full zerker for your gear to keep a good DPS. But you can take a mix of zerker and valkyrie (to get a bit more hp if you need it) or knight (if you need more toughness).

Keep in mind guys that only the Fire Field stay longer, not the Laval Front itself. The trait XI don’t increase the duration of your attack, only the duration of your fire field.

Fresh air is a popular build, but its a not good pve build. Its a sPvP build.

First, true, Fresh Air is a pvp spec, and not terribly useful in pve. Its one of our better pvp specs, but ele in general is rough at the moment in there, relative to the power creep of other classes.

Second, I would counter and say, S/x might not have high sustained damage (unless you count conjure/might stacking builds), but in open world / leveling pve, you don’t need high sustained dps. That only becomes important for things with tons of health, like a boss. For standard exploration / leveling, burst is fine because most stuff is dead by the time you finish one burst rotation. The plus side is that this can also prepare you for might combo fielding/conjures if you want to use that as your dungeon spec.

The reality of course is that anything works in world pve, so I hope that the OP has found some good suggestions in the thread that help him out.

This don’t change the fact that S/x have a terrible DPS. Of course its enough for completing most thing in the game, but again i can run 0/0/0/0/0, naked and be able to do most thing in the game.

I don t have much will to repost the Whole thread with pictures of LFG showing only heavy/warriors everywhere….

But i already done that 3 times and it clearly shown guard/war is still meta.

How many party are willing to play without guardian and warrior/S?
How many party won t care to go without an ele?

I don t really see any of the latter outside AC.

Really, Really?? Do you care to understand why at least? Pug don’t want the best team, they want the team that have the best chance of having a smooth run.

5 Ele can make the dungeon freaking easy, by killing most mobs faster than anything else. But they are so squishy and really hard to master if you don’t have the skill. On the other side Guardian and Warrior and not better, but easier to play right, making them really attractive to pugs. That is not bad design, that a common sense choice. I want the best team, i’ll have 1 warriors, maybe 1 guardian for some path. I want a pug group with a good chance of finishing the path in a small amount of time? I’ll go with 3-4 heavies.

What is wrong with that??

I’ve played since the launch, but i never really got into the whole ‘stats’ thing. I’m just counting on opinions from other players who know about all the scaling etc.

Ascended cost a lot and only for the ‘stats’ thing. You can do whatever you want, i just find weird that you want to spend that amount of gold for something like that. It seem like a lot more things would fit you better with this gold : like minis, item from the gem store, legendary, etc. Unless you want the ascended armor for the looks.

D/D is pretty much like D/F. It only change some skills.

D/D is better mobility with bit more awkward might stacking and 1 more heal/condi removal.

D/F is better active survivability and more efficient might stacking

You can change weapon between fight if you want. But you need to know in advance what you gonna need as you can’t really change you weapon in mid fight. The Elementalist have a huge DPS potentiel, combine with a lot of good active defense skill. You strategy should be to burst down an enemy and use your skills to get out when needed, not to kite an enemy. At least with a Dagger or Scepter as your main hand weapon. With the staff you can kite, but even with the Staff you shoudl ALWAYS stay in a 300 range of your allies for boons sharing and activate the damage modifier that activate when you are in 600 range.

As Flissy said, 30/25/0/10/5 is superior DPS to 30/0/0/10/30 in a pure axe build. Warrior’s personal dps is middling, and the reason to run warriors in a group at all is Banner of Discipline, Strength and Empower Allies.

Basically for warriors, if you are not running a banner or not running Empower Allies, you are pretty much just as much of a leech to your party as a random DPS necromancer.

What? Warrior don’t have the best DPS, but the come close second to the Ele. To say that a Warrior dps is middling is a bold statement.

Weird because the last time i checked the meta right now is like

1 Warrior, 3 Ele, 1 Mesmer or
2 Warrior, 2 Ele, 1 Guardian or
1 Warrior, 3 Ele, 1 Guardian or ….

I don’t see SOO MUCH HEAVY THAT ANY OTHER PROFESSION CAN’T JOIN. Back in the days the meta was 4 Warriors and 1 Mesmer, but the community now know much more how each profession work.

Right now only Necromancer and Ranger are view as bad in PvE. While Warrior, Guardian, Ele and Mesmer receive most of the love.

Go get yourself a personal guild bank (everyone should have one, anyway) and use that as personal storage for your gold.

I did this, but unfortunately each panel has a maximum carriage space of 1000g. It’s at the point where I might start getting multiple banks just to carry it all. The most important cut-off for me is that I need to not carry enough gold at any given time to accidentally outright buy a legendary.

Rich First World Problem right there. I feel your pain, you should give away all that money you seem to suffer too much ; )

I don’t see how being mobile will help your party. It will certainly help you, but your party?

Anyway, you choose Ele and its one of the great profession for PvE. (Top PvE profession in fact). A good Ele can do almost anything. If you don’t want to do melee and want to range stuff then use the Staff. Actually, the Ele Staff is the only good range of the game in PvE. All profession can range, but only the Ele have a Meta build using a range weapon. The good thing about the staff is that you can DPS and Support pretty well, which make it one of the more versatile weapon in the game. The downside is that you have less mobility, but since you play with a group it won’t be necessary at all.

1) The deposit system was pretty bad and the new wallet is important QoL feature that the majority of people wanted. There is no reason to change the current system to worst system.
2) They could keep the wallet, but have a deposit system for people like you. But i really don’t think that its someone that a lot of people would want. The first time a see a post like that, and not a lot of people seem to agree with you on this post. So for me it would be a waste of development time, if the dev would do that.
3) Creating a personal guild is something widely use by a lot of people in GW2. Almost eveybody in my guild have a personnal guild (it cost a lot less than to buy more bank expansion in the gem store. Now you have two issues with the personal Guild bank.

First the limited amount of gold you can put in it. Do you have 6000 thousand gold?? If not, then why care about that. Do you see people complaining that they have 10K but they can’t put in their Personal Guild Bank?. Never saw that, so if you don’t have 6k+ Gold, why make that an issue.

Second about the max number of guild. On that you are totally right. But they should never put a limit on the number of guild, or at least not 5. For me its not an issue, I have 4 guilds (including my personal bank), but i see how this could be a issue for some people.

Now, i don’t play my ele in sPvp so i can’t say if it a good sPvP build or not. But anyway, since you are talking about your levl 70 Ele, that probably mean you are playing in PvE.

Staff : Highest personally DPS, easiest to play. You stay in fire and spam laval front. The trait are 30/20/10/10/0 or 30/10/10/10/10.

S/F or S/D : High DPS, harder to play, stack might like crazy for your party. You gonna have to switch between pretty much all attunements to stack might, then DPS in water with your Light Hammer. Trait vary a lot for that one : 25/10/10/25/0 or 30/10/10/20/0 or 10/25/10/25/0 and a lot more depending on what you want to focus (DPS, Fury, Vulnerability, etc).

D/F : A good all around build. Its nice for solo, fractals and give access to survivability skills since the first two build are really squishy. The Trait : 30/30/10/0/0.

Of course your gear will affect a lot your DPS. But for PvE the Elementalist have the highest potentiel DPS of the game and by far. The problem is that reach the highest DPS is almost impossible. Too many requirements to get all the damage modifier. The enemy need to burn, have vulnerability, be at 33% HP, without a range of 600, you need to be at 90% HP and be in water attunement. This is achievable, but is hard as hell to keep for a long time.

No. The game don’t have Holy Trinity for a reason. The system is not perfect, far from it, but its different from the Holy Trinity and it work. A lot of holy trinity MMO out there, so can we keep at least 1 that don’t copy/paste the same system over and over.

Improve the system, i’m for it.

I do however think that when we practise, and everybody know wich songs we agreed to play.

Ya but when i started played an instrument and i was horribly bad i stay in my room and practice. I don’t go at the mall and force my bad guitar skill to everyone. I want to at least try hard to do decent music.

You can be as bad and don’t give a kitten as you want when you play alone. But what kitten people off is when you go at massive event or dungeon and act like a lazy person, don’t give a crap if the event fail and then complain that the event is hard or that people were mean to you. I’m not a good soccer player, but when i play with my friend i don’t look at the sky, ignoring the game and chatting with a girl during the game. My friend will say to me to get the kitten off, or course. If i want to be part of group activity, I’m suppose to do a minimal effort to be helpful. I have player in my guild that are bad, don’t have a good build, etc. I don’t mind. I will run most thing with them, but what i can’t stand is a bad attitude of : I will play how I want if you don’t like that get the hell out. Keep that attitude to yourself when you play alone not in group event. And to be fair, that also include people that kick a ranger or someone with low AP without any question, that kitten me off as much. Both of these attitude are selfish and usually ignorant.

A) Dodge should both visually and mechanically vary between professions and builds.
B) It should work with, rather than negating, the stat system
C) Bosses and mobs mechanics which require the use of dodge should require more than just timing, and have more tactile affects upon successful use. If what the player is required to learn is interesting to him or her, he or she will learn it. If all they are required to memorize is different timing for each attack, they will never learn.

A) That’s a immersion problem (and a minor one) not a gameplay issue. That could be nice to have different dodge animation, but that is really not a big deal. The Thief and Asura already have different animation, while mesmer and thief also have different sound while dodging.
B) I’m not sure what do you mean exactly? Do you mean that dodge shout diminish the damage and not completely negating it so that way defensive stats were require?
C) Can you give some possibilities? You get attack, you time you dodge to evade it. I don’t get what could they add more to make it better. It a legitimate question, if a system can modify to make the game better I will always welcome that.

For me you point the finger at a good system and say it boring and should be better. Like a said if you have a idea to get it better i want to hear it. Maybe another game make the dodge so much better than gw2.

You are not the type of player the OP is talking about.

The OP is talking about the players that force themselves into groups and do not pull their weight. Since you are a solo player and play for other reasons, the OP is not calling you lazy.

True. I’ll continue my guitar analogy. If you bring you guitar to a party and play it with your friend. And then someone also with a guitar come next to you are said, hey man if you do that or put your finger like that it will be easier to reach the cords and you’ll sound better. Or maybe he will be able to teach you a new songs. What will be your reaction?

If you say : ah cool thanks man. That help a lots, don’t hesitate if you have another tricks. Maybe become friend with him so you can play a little bit more guitar with him. Then i have no problem with that. In dungeon, there is plenty of that kind of people and i’m happy to help them. Its not a job. But that doesn’t mean that you should be lazy. Remember that Sloth is one of the 7 deadly sin (what did i just use religion, what is wrong with me lol).

But seriously. There is a difference between pushing yourself to be the best you can at something and just being lazy about it and just don’t care. If you want to be lazy and don’t give a crap why are you playing the game in the first place? If i play the guitar, even if i don’t want to be pro i want to be at least capable of playing some music not just some random notes.

And even if you want to be lazy and don’t improve at all in the game. Then play by yourselves. Don’t go into a speed run and then complain in the forums about how you got kicked.

My main is a guardian so i never had any problem with the lack of reflect, aegis, stability, etc. But for the last couple month i play more on my Warrior and Ele for the speed clear.

It always frustrating to see people not using the the strength of the profession.

You don’t bind Malrona to the wall in TA before using your wall to reflect her AoE? Ok, if you are the only one with reflect it can be dangerous wihtout enough DPS.

But if you go melee the final Tree in the UP path and don’t bring neither wall of SoA, then you make me sad.

If you rush to stack for Golems or Bomber in SE, but don’t put a Wall of reflection. My little guardian heart broke a little more each time.

As I have written, I found out. So your suggestion is to check this information which doesnt actually change the fact that you need a workaround in order to deal with this, correct?

Well you wrote : ‘’BUT when I guessted back to my previous server, guild wiped as well’’ The guild didn’t wiped as well. Even when you guest you are still looking at your Home Server guild bank.

My point is, you transfer and then figure out that you can’t get you items back unless you transfer back to your old server or that someone in your old server take the items out of your vault and email them to you. Which can be risky.

I told them that if they can’t handle being squishy that even though it’s not the meta they should go with armour that has some toughness or vitality. I was told that I don’t know what I’m talking about.

It think that a problem that we created (veteran players). We are talking so much about the meta and dps (with reasons) that new players take that knowledge and see it as the only answer to everything. Mix that with the fact that in most run, these new players get carry by veteran without even knowing it. That a recipe for these new player to think that they are good and know all the answer.

I saw that in my guild. The core member of veteran experimented the game and learned the hard way. For the new player we help them a lot with their build and how to do a dungeon run, fractal, ect. And they got good really fast compare to us. But then they started to do run by their own with pugs or giving advice to other people are sometime i’m like WTF. It was entirely on me and the other veteran. We show them their role in each dungeon, but we didn’t show them a lot of things that were easier for us to do (usually the harder stuff). I push them more and more to pugs so they can learn by themselves without relying on us. Now some of them complain about pugs (even when it their fault), but at least other hit a wall and figure out that maybe they have still a lot to learn about the game and improve.

Some common examples of noobs being noobs:
-There are several downed players nearby, along with numerous mobs nearby that die in seconds, and they don’t utilize the rally mechanics and instead hold ‘4’ for 30 seconds

I always found funny when I kill a mobs next to a downed pug and he’s mad because i didn’t rez him. USE THE FREAKING RALLY SYSTEM, it should be your first reflex when you down. It not funny at all, now that i think about it. sigh.

The Human Starting zone have a lot of people in it. Because of champion train that a lot of people use to get gold and level up their alts. But even if there is a lot of people in that zone, this maybe not the best place to go when you start the game. These people are protective of their run and you could do a event and kill a boss that is part of it, making people angry. Also you could join the train, but its so boring and really don’t help you getting better at the game. You will see less people in the other starting zones, but there is still people.

I agree with Mirta on the consumable. I rarely used them except when I speed clear, WvW raid or do high level fractals.

The player skill and knowledge of the encounter is far far far far far more important.

My advice to you is DON’T CRAFT you ascended armor yet. You seem to have a lot to learn yet in the game before you make that jump. I don’t know exactly what is your experience in the game or even if it a troll post. But if it legit, you really want to wait. If you craft a cleric armor you will regret it a lot in the future.

This kind of boss already exist in the game. Its Kholer. He is clearly there to push people to learn how to dodge. But since it’s optional and have a really bad reward, nobody do it and nobody can learn from it.

Your bank is not wiped on your old server. If you transfer back, your stuff will be there waiting for you.

But you guested, which don’t work for the Guild. Even if you guest, you won’t have the bonus from the guild, or the guild vault. I don’t know why you transferred server without checking that information before. It pretty much on you, since this information is easy to find.

1) Its a freaking MMO guys. Play with people, make some friend, join a guild. You gonna have all the help you need. They gonna want to go in dungeon with you, they gonna love help you, they gonna love show you all the little trick, they gonna love give help you with your build and your choice of gear, they gonna love play with you. If you want to play a single player RPG, there is plenty of them. If you like GW2, but just want to play by yourselves, then don’t complain about this kind of stuff.

2) People are seeing elitist everywhere. Its like the bogeyman. They see them everywhere, everyday doing everything possible. Now ask yourself, hey maybe they are human been, just player like me. Interesting, so why are they doing that? Are they just elitist scumbags, or they are a reason for doing that? I consider myself a generous person. I’m social and really like helping other people. In fact, that’s a big reason why I’m on the forums. If i see a grandma trying to cross a steet, I’ll help her. But if there is a grandma a every corner of every street for over a year and a half. Then maybe i’ll be less generous with my time. I’ll help out a couple of time, but not a everytime. Am I a bad person for that? I’m in the game to have fun and I consider helping someone as having fun. But when in 3 hours of GW2 i was only able to do 2-3 dungeon paths compare to the usual 8-10 paths, helping people become less fun. Now add to that the actions of some of these people. Someone who join a speed run, but clearly don’t know what the hell he’s doing. Someone don’t say he don’t know the path at the beginning of the run and you figure it out in the middle of a section when he don’t do his part and the party wipe. Still i understand that they do that, because they fear to be kicked. Its a vicious circle. Veteran kick noobs because they lie about their knowledge of the path, and the noobs lie because they don’t want to be kick. Nobody is the villains here. Its just two groups of people that clash sometimes. The fault is on the Veteran that don’t always use the best description in the LFG and don’t always stick to it. You should kick someone if you didn’t specified what you want in the LFG. Don’t kick a ranger if you didn’t put no ranger. On the other end, the new players have a lot of resources to get into dungeon so use them. Plenty of friendly guild out there, one of these guild was specially made to help those people to get into dungeon. Read the description of a LFG and Stop joining a group that you can’t fill the requirements. If no group will allow you to enter, make your own LFG. It may take a bit more time, but you will get there. And finally keep in mind that if going into a dungeon is hard for new player, you have not idea how i was at the beginning of the game. Nobody had ANY good build, nobody knew kitten about how to complete a dungeon, no friendly guild, no video on youtube, nothing. I spent 3 hours in AC and my guild was never able to complete the first burrow room in the path 1. My friends spent 5 freaking hours and were never able to kill Lupicus in Arah.

The GS auto-attack chain hit for 1.09% more damage than the sword.

But the sword do it in 1.8sec, while the GS do it in 2.5sec. So the Sword auto-attack have 40% more DPS than the GS auto-attack.

Both weapons don’t really have great burst dmg skills. But the GS wont a bit on that. Especially with Maul.

Only two trait can benefice the GS over the Sword. Reduce cooldown work for both weapons, but don’t really bring anything good to the sword, while help with the better burst damage skill of the GS. But its really not in a good trait line so you gonna lose dps if you want to get it for your GS. The second trait is 5% dmg with a GS. Its also on a good trait line, so you gonna use it if you take you GS.

Also the GS have a range 20 more longer than the sword. It will help in some occasion.

So basically, the Sword win most of the time. But the GS can reach the same DPS as the Sword and even do more DPS in the right situation. But the major factor for that is the number of target hit by each weapons.

If you can attack the same number of target, then the Sword win by a 30-35% advantage. But if the GS allow you to get 1 or 2 more target, then the GS win over the Sword. If you can hit 3 more target with the GS, then the GS is far more superior than the sword.

Even if in theory the GS is better against numerous target, in reality the 20 more range won’t really help you that much. Most of the time we people stack, you will hit 5 target with the sword and the longer fight are usually against 1 boss.

Still it a good practice to have Sword/Warhorn and Sword/Axe for your weapons, while keeping a GS in your inventory for these moment when you feel that the GS give you an advantage against large group of mobs. For exemple, you will want a GS against the assassins right before the end of Path 2 CoF, but switch to Sword for the boss.

Condition damage miss understood

@ Drakent, you post have 2 flaws.

1) You bring numbers without backing them. I guess you are saying the truth, but your methodology is bad. You’r number vary so much because you let too many variable enter the equation. Might, food, buid, etc will make these number vary and so people will tend to see these numbers as false.
2) You don’t bring new information. You simply miss the debates we had at the beginning of the game so you start it all over. A long time ago we figure out the condition damage. The end result is that direct damage is better, so all the next wave of player take that and said direct damage is better so condition suck. See the difference. Direct damage is better, but condition don’t suck.

Everybody already know that each person give some condition and these condition are base on your condition damage. But, condition have a cap. A condition damage player will do as much damage as a direct damage player, even more DPS for some build and profession. But, condition do not work well together.

1 Condition damage player can almost max most of the condition if he have a good build and skilled player. On my engie i could keep 15-20 stack of bleed and Vulnerability easy. On top of that poison and burning were there for a good amount of time. A second condition player could not have 100% of his DPS since the first condition player take about 75-90% of the place for the condition.

Even non condition build does quit a bit of condition. They don’t do a lot of DPS, but they still do DPS. These condition will be completely pushed aside by the condition of a condition build, directly decreasing the damage done by the rest of the team.

I frankly believe that a 1 condition damage build in a team could boost the overall DPS of the team if the team is well crafted together to make sure that the team as a whole don’t put more condition that the cap. This is hard to accomplish and maybe is not even worth it. But because of all that, it way easier if everybody is direct damage. That way, you will never lose DPS because you are in a party with a second condition player.

Depend on what you play. In WvW, there is some nasty Ranger roaming build that use the shortbow, but for PvE the shortbow is bad. For the thief on the other end, you should never use the shortbow as your main, but a lot of build use it as a secondary weapons, both in PvE and WvW.

And you can simply use a less good build with a Shortbow as you’re main weapons just for the fun of it.

It also depend on the skill of the players. Especially for the Elementalist. Because, the Ele have the potentiel to get higher DPS than a Warrior. But he need to fill a lot of requirement to gain the boost from all his damage modifier. In comparative, on a Warrior the max DPS is lower, but it easy to get the max DPS. If everything go right and players are really good, i would say that the best DPS team would be.

4 Ele and 1 Warriors. 2 Staff and 2 LH. 1 LH stack might and the second one can use the LH to push mobs on the wall. (Eliminating the need of a Mesmer pull).

Most dungeon have a least one boss that can be done on a wall. So even if a Mesmer is good to have against a boss not on a wall, i don’t think there is a dungeon, where overall the presence of a Mesmer would be better. Someone would have to check path by path to get a good answer to that.

The ranger can give a good DPS boost for the team, but does the Ele can outDPS him enough to negate the ranger’s boost? 1 Warrior can give enough party wide boost and TOP dps, but the ranger i’m not sure.

A Guardian have good DPS, but not enough. But in some dungeon, he bring just the right support to speed up the dungeon. Mostly reflect. Mesmer and Guardian have access to powerful Reflect which can make the difference in some path.

The problem with condition is however much worse. You can’t design an encounter in a level 35 dungeon entirely around the idea that players must do a certain amount of damage, or they all die. You literally hit a brick wall, because the game has broken mechanics, and only when you do dungeons do you find out just how broken they are.

You are right partially right on that. Player hit a wall there and they shouldn’t. AC is really hard for new players. CM, TA, SE, CoF and HotW are all fare more manageable for new players. AC is not hard, but you need a bit more requirement than several dungeon after it. Personnally, when i failed at AC a coupe times, i went for CM and TA and then get back to AC. Anet should really put AC as a higher level dungeon. But its not that big of a deal.

That’s a bad sign. When your traps are less forgiving than Dark Souls.

Really? These trap 2 shot you, and they are super easy to get through. I had no problem with them at all, when i started the game, and even new players in my guild have rarely have any problem with them. If these trap are too much for you, that says a lot about you.

This is why I get so ticked off by bosses that revolve around reflection. I don’t have reflection! I’m a necro! Where is the sign at the start of the dungeon that says, bring someone with reflection? That’s dumb design. Give us other ways to deal with all the projectiles being hurled our way then.

I never use reflection on that encounter. You can use reflection, but you can also dodge, stability, block, invulnerable, evade, break stun. All profession have access to all, or some of those. So learn what work best for your profession and practice with that.

You can kill a burrow alone, whatever your profession if you build it right. And by right i mean that 75% of the build in the game work. Ice Bow and FGS work nicely with pugs, because they don’t have to make an effort. I always change my utilities when i get to the burrows, some of my friends change weapons, but pugs just keep going the same way everytime because the last time they did it, it worked like a charm (but they didn’t figure out that 2 people in the party did all the job for them). Ice Bow and FGS are super powerful here, but he back thing about it, is that they deny any learning for the pugs. They just keep doing that because they never tried another strategy and can’t see that they build don’t work there. If they failed without an Ele, they will said, well its because we don’t have an Ele. Its not our fault.

And for Kholer. The problem is not the encounter or his position. The only problem with Kholer is the reward he give. He give kitten, so most people, even those who can kill it, will skip it. When i started to do dungeon, i was always skipping kholer. But then i learned how and most people in the game learn how to kill him. He was easy, people knew how to beat it and he was rewarding so people wanted to kill him. But now, he give almost nothing, so most people don’t want to kill him, so nobody learn how to kill him. Make him drop some silver and a chest with a chance of rare and a month later most group will be killing him each time.
