After looking around and asking a bunch of people, I’m now trying to decide between Mesmer and Thief for the things I said above… Which one would you say is better or is it just personal preference?

Anyone know a good one?

Can’t wait to get mine to 80 but I have no idea which slot skills and traits I should use.

Hey everyone

So… a long time ago at launch I made a Sylvari Thief and got it to 80. I was playing in sPvP with him and I was quickly drawn to the side of Warrior, as this was the time that the whole ‘Bulls Charge -> Haste -> 100 Blades’ thing was popular…

But recently I’ve been looking for a class to play, and I realised that it’s what I’ve had all along – Thief. But before I start playing him, I wanted to ask a few questions.

1. Are Thieves good in WvW Duo Roaming? (Completely ignore Zerging – I hate it lol).

2. What’s the current state of Thieves like?

3. Do Thieves have a high skill cap, and when mastered are they pretty good? (I really like mastering a class and then playing it a lot and pwning with it lol.)

4. Could anyone link me to a few current popular Thief builds?

5. What cool-looking Medium armor sets are there?

6. Does anyone know any good Thief guides which cover the basics about how to go about duels etc.

One quick unrelated question Lol, when people say ‘knights gear’ and ‘sentinel gear’, what armour sets are those? (How do you get them)

Yeah I’m not thinking about Warrior very much.

They are, in my opinion, the most boring class in the game just due to how face-rolly everything is and having to root yourself in melee range of the enemies to do damage in my opinion is stupid.

Hence me asking if there are any other classes with the criteria I said above…

Yeah I have a level 80 Warrior but every single engagement is the same and very boring…

Are there any other classes that fulfil those criteria? Ie. Good in WvW 2 or 3 man roaming, aggressive play style, and not too squishy?

Out of all the classes, would you say that Guardian fills my requirements well?

Basically the title Lol.

I really love heavy gear, and with Warrior being boring I’m left with Guardian xD.

I really want to work at this character really well, and do mainly WvW as well as a bit of PvE like Fractals… But that’s not really too important.

Also, are Guardians good in 5v5 tournaments?

I have a 80 Warrior at the moment and I find them to be very one-trick pony (blow up or get blown up), is this just me building mine the wrong way or is this generally what they are like?

What profession would you guys say is best for roaming etc. In WvW but also alllrightt in PvE?

I was thinking Mesmer but after their nerfs etc. I’m not sure any more.

I stopped playing Guild Wars for a while for a bunch of reasons and now thay I’ve come back, I feel like a noob… so I have a few questions (please excuse me if I sound like an idiot).

1. What is ‘living story’?

I hear people constantly saying it and I know that it involves these new bi-weekly expansions, but are they events which link with one another or are they individual events? (Ie should I go watch the events I missed on YouTube to understand it?)

2. How do you get Ascended gear?

3. Are Guardians a pretty good choice for mainly WvW aswell as some PvE?

4. About the Living Story, is all of the content going to be temporary?

5. Is the Belcher’s Buff achievement stuff permanent? (I really want the Omnomnivore title.)

Thats all that I can think of at the moment.

Hmmm this is all really interesting…

It seems like it’s down to Mesmer and Elementalist…

I think I might go with Mesmer due to the fact that I felt Elementalist was a bit like, well it’s a bit hard to explain – but like Invoker for any Dota 2 players – kinda a burden of knowledge, as in you have to know all the different combos and there’s a lot of very fast button movements.

Then again, I’m going to give them both a go…

P.S. Does anyone know of a good Elementalist leveling build? Mine is an absolute pain to level at the moment (level 38) and I can’t find where/what to level with her.

Hey everyone

I recently came back to Guild Wars after taking a break for a while, and I really can’t decide what profession to level next…

I want to really master one of them as that’s my kind of thing, where I stick to one profession and get them maxed out gear etc.

I currently have 2 80s – Warrior and Thief, as well as a level 40 Elementalist, 25 Guardian, and a 10 Mesmer.

This is where I came to ask you guys what profession you guys think is good for these things:

• Aggressive play-style
• Good in PvP
• Great when mastered
• Not too squishy
• Fun to Play

I’m really just wondering at the moment.

I’ve been looking around for some builds, and wasn’t really able to find many on these Forums, especially ones which weren’t heavily Confusion Based, which is kinda annoying after the massive Confusion nerf.

So I was wondering, could you guys please link some builds in the comments which you thought are good builds which are worth mentioning. PvE, WvWvW, tPvP, any builds, as long as you think they’re good, put the link in the comments

I’ve narrowed it down to Guardian and Mesmer for WvWvW and tPvP, so which is Mesmer the king over the two of them?

I’m talking about general utility, DPS, AoE, the lot. I know that they both are gods of boons and utility, yet neither have too much AoE.

I’ve been thinking about making a character which is mainly for tPvP/WvWvW so would you say making a Mesmer is worth it or are there different better classes?

I’m new to the Mesmer class, and have a few questions about it.

1: Are Mesmers decent in PvE?
2: Are they strong in tPvP/WvW, as that is where I will primarily play them?
3: Are they a worthwhile class to run, if looking for a decent levelling experience and a good experience in PvP?

Hey everyone on these awesome Forums,

Well, I’m going to get right to it: *bold*What would you say is the better pick out of Mesmer, Necromancer, Guardian, or Elementalist for PvP and WvW?bold

I already have a level 80 Warrior/Thief, and I definitely prefer the Warrior, but at the same time I find them rather face-roll’y. And so, this is where I came to start thinking about which class to roll next.

I like the Guardian class, but I feel that they are rather similar to Warrior, and after playing one for a day or two, and getting it to level 20, it’s already starting to feel very ‘samey’, if you get what I mean.

So this is where I thought about the Necromancer, Elementalist, and the Mesmer. They are all obviously casters, and I don’t currently have any casters, so obviously they interest me quite a bit. I see quite a few Mesmers, and at the moment I’m leaning towards them the most, due to them seeming really fun/awesome, but I saw the recent buffs to Necromancer, and am starting to reconsider them too, due to me thinking of them always as a beefy, medium-DPS CC Caster.

I already have an Elementalist at level 38 and find it oh so painful to level. Everyone tells me it will get better at higher levels, but I don’t know whether I should stick it out.

So, there you have it.

All opinions are very welcome, assuming they’re reasoned :D
