[Suggestion] Necromancer Combo Finishers

Hello,

Necromancer feels for me like it doesn’t have much immersion in it’s weapon skills. It does have several nice combo fields, which are really usfull when group playing. However it has a lack in combo finishers.

Adding combo finishers because:
- More deversity in the choise of weapons
- The use of Combo’s requires more skill to optimize your gameplay

Skill’s that can be given a combo finisher:
- Unholy Feast: Blast.
- Wail of Doom: Blast.
- Reaper’s Touch: Physical Projectile.
- Dark Path: Leap.

I would also love to see a whirl finisher available, however there are no animations that fit it. I think Dark Pact would fit most, making the dagger more than a hack and slash weapon. However a whirl animation should be added then withing the 1 second cast time.

@Calavel: My damage is perfectly high. Ofcourse I am not doing spike damage like shatter mesmers, but appying my conditions on enemies will get them down fairly fast.

I don’t think so. Why would you buff conditions on the necro? It is already perfect.
Next to that confusion is a rare condition. Mainly The mesmer has acces to it, making confusion almost a mesmer condition (Just like fear is typically for Necro’s).
And yes engi’s can also acces it, but not as compact as mesmers.

As many people said:
- High bleeding (With bleeding trait and Fury trait)
- Very well and fast stun saved me alot

Since I am running condition build in WvW I dont take the other offhands because:
-OH Sword: Focussed on spike damage, which doesn’t fit my build.

-Torch: Too long cooldown on The Prestige. I can lower it with the trait because it doesn’t fit my build (I do not use domination trait line). The Phantasmal Mage has way too short confusion, compared to the bleeding I can do with the Duelist. Next to that Duelist has more raw damage as a bonus, and the retaliation isn’t important for me because I am trying that enemies can’t even hit me.

- Focus: Does not work in WvW for me. The Curtain has a very nice pull, but the Phantasmal Warden is stationary which makes it way too easy to avoid. Next to that the warden has a way too long cooldown (on attacking) making it not worth it compared to the pistol.

Since a few weeks I am running this mesmer build in WvW. It feels strong in battles because of the high surviveability, and very high condition output. I’ve had several battles 1v3 which were won by me with this build. However I am struggling to get it perfect. Condition necro’s are definetly a weak point for me, and all condition builds next to that. However I don’t know where I can sacrifise a skill or traits to get more condi removal without having me lose essential parts of this build. Please take a look at it and help me make it perfect

I think it would be a good idea to give the engineer a real Toolbelt. This would sync with the kit you are wearing. When you equip grenade kit, some grandes will be hanging on your belt. When equipping FT kit, maybe a small gas barrel hangs on your toolbelt. It would also make the “Toolbelt” skills much more logic. Currently the ram’s head doesn’t come out of a belt, but out of my belly….

Speaking about legendaries I honestly think there is no need to hold any effects when wielding a kit. When an other class changes weapons, they also dont hold effects. (The effects on skills could be improved imo, but that’s not on topic)

Another Idea for Engineer: Sharpshooter kit.
#1: Precise shotFire an aimed shot at your that does more damage on long a longer range. Fire rate: 1¼s.
#2: Heart shotTake a long breath and fire at your foe. Does 40%(?) more damage if you don’t move while channeling. Channeling time: 2½s. Recharge time: 10s.
#3: Silent shot Fire a shot in quick succession that dazes(2s) your foe.
Recharge time: 12s.
#4: Dragonbullet Fire a bullet at your foe that explodes after 2 seconds. The explosion applies Vulnerability(5 stacks for 10 seconds). Radius: 180. Recharge rate: 12s.
#5: Glass shot Fire a glass filled bullet that explodes in glass shards that blinds enemy in a small radius. Disappear in stealth(3s) when detonates. Radius: 180. Fire time: ½s. Recharge rate: 15s.

Wearing this kit applies Weapon Heat on the user. You can use 25 skills, counting from 0 to 25. When 25 is reached the weapon is overheated and unusable and it goes on cooldown (180s).
Elite Supplies trait will let the weapon go up to 35 charges untill overheated.

I always wanted something like this for the mesmer:
Mind Control (Elite Manipulation): Target enemy NPC of Elite rank or below temporarily becomes an ally. Duration 30s, cooldown 240s.

This could be nice, but it could also be very limited. What can you do with it?

1. Bosses: How is the effect with bosses? Of course will it count as a crowd controll skill, just like Moa Morph doesn’t work on bosses.
2. PvP/WvW: I think this won’t have uses here, possessing a player to attack allies does sound quite too far out of the box.

So What are the uses left? I like the idea of being able to get reïnforcement, but I think this can better be done by some kind of Phantasm that changes with the envirronment maybe.

I think people have many different ideas about how elite’s should be. I wonder how ANET describes Elite’s to be then. I hear people say they should be character style-ish. Connect with race, proffession, living story and personal story.

My personal opinion is that they should be very strong Utility skills that each of them can be exceptionally stronger in a certain situation. The point of Elite’s is then that you grab Elite’s in the situation what you are doing, and not with your build.

What I think would be viable for the necromancer:
Sacrifise Death
Sacrifise 80% of your Death Shroud pool to heal up to 5 allies. Heal yourself when you gain Life force. 10s stability
( This gives you Sacrifise, an unremovable effect that dures 10s. In these 10s you get healed for the life force you gain)
Requires you to have at least 80% Life force.

This skill would involve support and tank, which the necro doesn’t have yet. It also gives stability. The necromancer doesn’t have much acces to stability yet (Useful for stomping people in PvP and WvW). It also requires more skill to use it because it involves life force using. This would also improve the life force mechanic out of Death Shroud.

There are some very good ideas in this I think:
I really like the warrior most of all. Giving enemies quickness in adventage to damage themself more with the confusion, and not being hit much more by weakness. Very smart.
Elementalist: If the quickness is about 2s and it has internal cooldown: Yes.
Engineer: Don’t know: has to be more defined in transform skills
Mesmer: Hmm…Transform? Cool. Maybe just make skills in it that use much sort of illusion: Example: #1. Soundswave: Create a powerful single target sound wave that hits 25% more if the target has confusion. #2. Illusionary shockwave: Create a shockwave around you that dazes up to 5 enemies.
Guardian: Cool, encouraging people to use spirit weapons. I just think more burning does not make it attractive.
Necromancer: I do not think it needs more condition encouraging. I’dd prefer to see an elite which forfills the necro roll more like a tank/support. Example: Heal nearby allies by sacrificing 80% of your life points, giving yourself fury and might (5) for 10 seconds.
Ranger: This is already a trait, and I think it should stay a trait. Example: Nature’s bond: Surround yourself by plants becoming invulnerable, reviving your pets and heal for a small ammount. —→ You are immobile
Thief: Sounds cool, gives more CC

Hello fellow Guild Wars 2 players,

I am of opinion that there should become new elite skills for every class.
Why?:
Diversity: Adding a new elite skill would add more diversity. Choosing of more options that would fit in your build/strategy.
Skill combinations: Combining an elite with a weapon/utility skill for better build type (DPS/Condition/Support/Tank).
Purposes: Finding more purposes for each elite in certain situations.

My perspective on the elite skills:
I think the new elite skills should involve a “the missing elite”. Explanation: A class has 3 elites. This means it misses either way DPS, support, condition or tank elite.
This does have a backside: It has to be usable in more situations than only running this certain type of build.

I have seen many ideas but they were never put down in one thread: Only in the profession specific forum. So let’s put our ideas together. Post your suggestion for new elite skills!

Attention please: This is about new elites, not improving existing ones.

Does Ranger Need Moar Stealth?

I think I would be happy when the jaguar skill Stalk would also give the player some stealth. It would also make the use of pets more specific.
Currently I don’t see any reason why only the jaguar gets stealth. In PvP/WvW people already see that you are a hunter so a stealthed pet doesn’t really matter, and in PvE it doesn’t add alot too, maybe only if you want to hold your pet alive, but better you take a bear then….

Hello everybody,

I would like to point out some Shouts. There are 2 shouts which I am having really much trouble in finding a proper way to use them. These are:
– Search and Rescue: The reviving is really slow. Next to that you are missing your pet, which has most likely half of the set traits on him, which are now useless. Oh and also: We already have Spirit of Nature to rest people much quicker!
– Protect Me: This shout makes your pet take all damage you would have taken. Again: Since pets are most likely to be traited, why would you let your pet be killed just like that? Then you only have 1 pet left that can attack. With it’s 60 second cooldown you can better trait signets and become invulnerable for 6 seconds with Signet of Stone.

I would like to suggest to replace these skills. Their purpose sould be kept (Survivability and support). This are my ideas:
- Protect me!: Fear up to 5 foes for 1(,5) seconds. Gain 3 seconds of protection for each feared ally. (60s CD?)
- Rise again!: Heal up your pet again. (65s CD?)

These shouts are more unique and viable in situations I think. Or am I wrong? Is there actually a proper way to use the originally shouts or would you like these shouts more, or do you suggest other shouts?

Personally I think you can better add the burning in other builds. Not focussing on the burning itself. This is because burning is the only damaging condition guardians do. One condition removal and your time stacked burn disappeared. Also it does do nice damage, but it doesn’t stack in intensity. So your damage doesn’t get bigger. This means you do not have any bursts of some kind to bring some1 down much faster.

However I like you tried it and I personally am going to investigate this more myself in WvW.

IMO the only thing it needs is a tad more support:

  • Prestige should cleanse from friendly targets on blind/burn, assuming they’re in the respective areas.
  • Mage already cleanses on bouncing projectile (and rather needs a buff itself, though come to think of it maybe I’d be ok if he could simply hit up to 5 enemies and 5 friendlies – 10 targets total).

I think the idea of the prestige can work out very well thanks!
And about the mage, okay I wasn’t sure if it did cleanse when bounce attack

Mesmer trait Cleansing Confagration:
Torch skills remove conditions. Reduces recharge on torch skills.
Conditions Removed: 1 Recharge Reduced: 20%

Domination trait line (IX)

Change this trait to “Convert”. I am not sure if it already applies, but conver a condition when you go in stealth with The Prestige, and when you do the burning blast AoE. Also convert when you summon the iMage, and when the attack hits you and applies retaliation.

At this moment the trait feels too weak because:
- Very low condition removal
- Does not really fit the domination line since torch is mostly used in condition/survival build where it is most likely not to go in domination.

Swapping this trait with “Cleansing Inscriptions”(Chaos IX) would make more sense. Domination line has signet reducer. Also when convert is applied to this trait like I suggested, it would fit the Chaos line which has it’s focus on boons mainly (Also secondary stat next to toughness is boon duration).

I like your points concerning the two shouts, and would suggest you add specific suggestions for the changes your requesting. Changing them to include a benefit for party members as well as the Ranger would maybe help Rangers get into dungeon groups.

About point 1):
I think this is discussable. In threads like lore discussion you can’t be straight to the point. Giving lot’s and lot’s of arguements why your theory could be true is a base of a good thread in my opinion (!).
However the other side is that it could be a very well solution in other threads like build discussions to keep your thread straight to the point.

I think messages can also be more manageable by adding more layout options. This gives a better and more clear reading view. By adding enumerations this can be solved very easily I think.

Don't Make Precursors Craftable

I think precusor luck dropping or buying is actually more “legendary” than crafting one.
There are several points that a player has to do before getting a Legendary:
- Skill: The player must be able to understand the game and be able to get giftst from dungeons and battle.
- Time: Connected with luck => the more time you spend the more likely it is to get a precursor.

For me the system atm is just fine then.

I think Scarlet refers to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hibiscus_coccineus. It is relative to the well known flower Rose. Since a rose has spikes on it, it would fit the nightmare theme well.

  • Move the kit somewhere else on your body. I know, crazy right? For example, who doesn’t like a sweet fanny-pack?

Hopefully this finally gets resolved soon, and I’ll do what I can to see that happen. Keep in mind, as Colin mentioned before, that there are some pretty beefy projects going on that are consuming our engineering time. But that doesn’t exactly mean we can’t sneak stuff in here and there .

A bit late but: I really support this idea: I think a belt which shows your kits can be better. It could have grenades hanging on them, a gas tank hanging on your hips for FT, or bags with blackpowder for bomb kit for example.
This would also fit the “Toolbelt” system

Hello,

about a month ago I played alot of sPvP, making my angineer to lvl 80 with tomes of knowledge. When I was 80 I stopped playing sPvP and now I started on my ranger a month later. When I stopped I am sure I had about 40 glory boosters left. Now I came on my ranger I saw only 5 in my collectibles (and already used em). I checked every char, I checked my bank everything but they seem to be gone.

Did Anet put a line of how many you can have of those or something? I am really missing a huge ammount of glory point atm…

Hello everybody,

The last months I have been researching after the race of the Largos. For the ones who dont know, the Largos are mainly underwater living creatures. They have wings formed fins and they seem to be wearing a mask. Very little is known about their culture. What we do know is that they originaly live(d) in the North Arctic Ocean and the Unending Ocean.

There are some dots I have tried to connect:
1. The Largos might have interaction with the Tengu. This is based on the fact that in 1326AE Scarlet Briar tried (but failed) to create an Alliance between the Tengu and the Largos. Since the Largos have left their homelands because of ‘horros’ (Probably the unnamed Underwater Dragon), they might be living in the water of the Dominion of the Winds, the main city of the Tengu.
2. Largos seem to have powers to just vanish. This doesn’t look like stealth, but more like teleporting or shadowstepping. This might be connected to the Mursaat. The Mursaat vanished from the world, and later the Largos just appeared.
3. The Largos might be affected also by Zaithans powers. This is redicted from the fact that the Risen Priestress of Dwayna looks very similair to a Risen Largos. Since we do not know that they had interaction with the people of Orr (Never seen in GW1), they might have used their powers of vanishing to spy on the humans in Orr.

What do these points mean for our current story?
The Largos seem to get a bigger role in the current world. Many rumors have spread that the Tengu will become an accesable race, or at least their city. When their city would become available we might be able to get more knowledge of the Largos. A reason that they can be interacting with the Tengu is that the Tengu seem to hae the knowledge of the natural awakening of the Elder Dragons. They could use this to get rid of the Deep Sea Dragon.

My personal opion and hopes for a future update:
I really would love to see more about the Largos. They would fit in the dragon storyline. We (Hero’s) have beaten Zhaitan and now they might be looking for us to help them beat the Deep Sea Dragon. Next to that it would be awesome to be able to enter parts of the oceans. This brings underwater combat back, and it would connect to the Dragon story.
I think it can be possible that when the Scarlet story ends, we would get acces to the Tengu and Largos city cince she tried to make an allience between them. This would be a nice step to get back to the Dragon Beating part of the Living world.

What do you think? Could this be an option or do you have a whole other perspective? Please share!

As stated from wiki and so from Guild wars itself: “Guardians specialize in protective and defensive magic. A deep sense of loyalty to their allies fuels their passion and power.”
This means that it does make sense that guardian can equip staves: MAGIC.

And I dont actually see that way a Guardian with a Pistol.

Hey everybody,

I am running ranger in sPvP and I am really doubting about which rune I would take. I know Scholar is concidered is the best one for berserk, however it is very rare that I am 90+% health (so no 10% dmg bonus). In my build I have very very much fury so I think runes of rage would fit better (giving me more crit damage).

Can you please help me out which one would fit better?

The long cooldown is probably because it can be traited very well(haha well). With this well is almost a healing skill: Your enemies can’t hit you, and you get healed by the Vampiric Rituals traits. However from the other side I do indeed think the cooldown is too long. Just take smoke bomb for example: AoE blindness for 4 seconds with 25s cooldown (And it is a weapon skill). Then you might say: “But the well has 60s cooldown on 10 seconds. When you would have this skill 4 seconds it would be 24 sec cooldown”. HOWEVER: It takes an utility slot. This makes the well less viable because it is more likely to take an other skill than this.

Conclusion: The well is not viable for me when I run Wellomancer. Too long cooldown and I can take wells than that.

Dhuumfire Change Petition

I think the update is very good. For the first point it can be really well for making DPS builds which used DS alot. The overall DPS of a necro is already relatively low. Second of all it is true that it needs more skill after the update. In PvP it is well known that conditionmancer are very very strong. This makes applying burning harder and more skillful which makes the necromancer actually a bit higher rated (not so called “nooby”) build.

Ranger Longbow - Just Terrible

Urr nothing wrong with longbow. Skill 2 hitting 10k+ easily. Autoattack when i see an enemy I start shooting hitting 2-3k, and when I get close I can swap to swords, but he already lost alot by then. Perfectly. Also the range increase is awesome and perfect when fighting off big groups of enemies and using skill 5 on them.

Balancing Ranger Traits and Shouts

Hello everybody,

Since a short time I am playing ranger. I really like the proffession and it gives me a mighty feeling to spam al these attacks onto enemies. However the trait feel a little unbalanced for me. It feels like there are too many traits focussed on your pet, and not yourself. And now don’t say “well of course, you are a ranger”, what I am intending to say is that there is not much choise in how you trait your own weapons and abilities.

Now lets take the Spirit Utilities for example: They are well traited because you can let them move around, increase health and trigger chance, and give them a bigger radius and an attack when they die.
Now lets take Survival Utilities for example: Only a lower recharge.
You feel this difference? The reason why I would like to pick certain traits is to give them special abilities which they normally don’t have. This also counts mainly for the main-hand sword. It has a lack of proper traits.

Then as a second point I would like to point out some Shouts. There are 2 shouts which I am having really much trouble in finding a proper way to use them. These are:
- Search and Rescue: The reviving is really slow. Next to that you are missing your pet, which has most likely half of the set traits on him, which are now useless. Oh and also: We already have Spirit of Nature to rest people much quicker!
Protect Me: This shout makes your pet take all damage you would have taken. Again: Since pets are most likely to be traited, why would you let your pet be killed just like that? Then you only have 1 pet left that can attack. With it’s 60 second cooldown you can better trait signets and become invulnerable for 6 seconds with Signet of Stone.

To come to a conclusion I would like to suggest to change these 2 shouts into other shouts. Also I would like to see some more diversion in traits, which makes them really special and not just a cooldown. These also should be more focussed on your own utilities and weapon skills, and not pets.

Flameseeker Prophecies Footfalls

Hello everybody,

I am really sparing for The Flameseeker Prophecies. I like it’s wielded looks and the lore behind it is great. It also is a Legendary which isn’t seen alot (Unlike Twilight). However there is a part of Legendaries that I miss in it: Footfalls. I do not really know if there is a reason for it that ArenaNet did not add these, but I really miss them.

If some1 from ArenaNet reads this, try to explain why it does not have footfalls?

Next to that I would like to suggest a look of the footfalls. The footfalls would be Ascalon symbols/writings glowing blue. I think it would perfectly fit in the style of the shield.

Anyone Agrees? Or Disaggree? Tell me why please what you think ^^.

Hello fellow Necro’s,

When I read the replies I feel like I am a very very strange person. This is my opinion:
The Dhuumfire change is very good.
Why:
- Skillfull. At the moment the conditionmancer is relative very easy to play. Every1 knows that the conditionmancer is also very strong in PvP. Making the Dhuumfire more accurate can actually boost your dps because you can choose when you do it.
- Berserk boost. Most people think this topic is mostly about conditionmancer, however a berserk necro will also be affected. Personally I think from all proffessions in Berserk, the necromancer is one of the weaker ones. It relies on dagger damage and DS. Life Blast will give might and apply vulnerability and can hit about 6K each shot(!). Since you will already take 30 in Spite because of the power, and no other really damage boosting traits, Dhuumfire can be even better as Close to Death since it Boosts your damage in Death Shroud for about 2K+ each 10secs which isnt that bad.

Next to this I would like to see something else with the sync with Life Blast. Since the Burning will get on cooldown when you hit some1 with it, it could become annoying when your LB pierces and there is a target between you and your target. I would like to suggest that it is applied to all targets you will hit with Life Blast, and then goes on 10 secs timer. Not after hitting one target.
