Time is a river.
The door is ajar.
They sell character slots in the store for 800 gems a pop
I’ll check back in 251 years when you’ve made your legendary weapon without using the Trading Post.
Ok…care to quote where I said the goal was to create a Legendary weapon?
What is the Wayfarer’s Challenge?
The Wayfarer’s Challenge is an Exploration Challenge I’ve set myself to explore Tyria.
The reason I posted this here is that it may catch some other intrepid explorer’s eye, and they may think it’s a neat idea.
I’ll be limiting the challenge to PvE, because the WubWub-ers prolly don’t want me taking up a space and not contributing. Can’t blame them, really
Rules
Good luck, and for those who are about to explore…we salute you!

Edit: This totally wasn’t supposed to go here…
Where’s the chance to chat with your party if it goes from Open World > Dungeon with no gap?
I oppose the system because it requires no interaction, and doesn’t encourage interaction.
Aside from convenience, how is an auto-queue tool superior from a LFG tool?
omfg…isn’t it obvious? You don’t have to waste time manually putting the group together!
And please, if you’re so apt on maintaining a social connection with randoms you find, then chat while you’re in the dungeon. Is that so hard?
Aside from convenience, how is an auto-queue tool superior from a LFG tool?
As for the chatting while in dungeons, read one of my previous comments; my experience before is that no-one wants to chat in dungeons. Just run through, complete as fast as possible, just to queue up again.
So? This still doesn’t mean you oppose an auto-queue.
Example: You queue for AC through the new LFG Interface. There is another person in the same queue, so it puts you together in a party. You say “a/s/l?
” (kidding, but you get the point) then as other people join the queue it adds them to the party, then when you’re full you do the dungeon.
Does this make sense to you now? Why would you disagree with this system?

So many delusional players here. You’re not making any progression. you’re just doing the dungeon for vanity items. Spend a few gold to get exotic items crafted and you’re good to go basically forever. Vanity is only 20% of the satisfaction you get from better gear, the rest is actually improving your characters capability. It’s RPG 101
Did you not research the game before you bought it?
As for calling people delusional; it’s delusional to assume people want the same things, and view the same things as ‘progression’.
If I haven’t got an achievement, and then a week later I got it, I’ve progressed.
(edited by TheDaiBish.9735)
So….? Auto-queue for dungeons wouldn’t work? You have to manually select which group to join in order for it to be social? You’re not making any sense as to why you oppose an auto-queue.
Ok, from previous experience with WoW, all auto-queue done was put you in a dungeon. No interaction was needed at all. It was a case of group > do dungeon > leave > go back into queue. More often than not, ‘hi’ was the only interaction ever.
In GW2, I’ve had more interaction with a group while we’re waiting for the extra 1 – 2 party members, we’ll chat in Party chat about stuffs more often than not, maybe walk the one guy who has never done the dungeon before through the tactics.
This is why WoW Vanilla end-game was actually fun compared to GW2 Vanilla.
Fun is subjective. Just saying.
1) Disagree. Auto-queuing takes the social aspect out of forming group. A more comprehensive LFG tool though would be nice for both PvE (Personal Story, Events, General Grouping) and WvW (Siegeing, Roaming Parties ect).
Are people serious with this? What social aspect is there to spamming “LFG <dungeon>”? All it does is lead to a more inefficient gameplay experience.
Because I totally didn’t say ‘add a more comprehensive LFG tool’, did I?
i think the mmo definition of a grind is repeating content over and over.
gw2 dailies arent that if you dont want them to be.
but they re boring at high level because its not challenging its simply time cossuming and too easy.
I found this.
What I done was craft a set of blue armour and weapons, and bought a White, no level set, for each of the levels, then equip the level under it (So going into Queensdale, I’d equip the white set. Going into Fireheart Rise, I’d equip the level 40 set)
It’s a pain, but the challenge is there then until they (hopefully) harshen the scaling.
Thanks.
It’s a big letdown to hear that, but thanks.
Seriously for such an amazingly beautiful game lush with exploration and great systems, they should have catered more to constant progression ideals. Leveling 1 to 80 was awesome and satisfying, at least the first time through. But then you’re left with no more satisfying progression to make. Whoever made that call on the design team should re-think how to approach end-game.
1.) Add an LFG auto-group interface.
2.) Add really high tiers of items only available in the hardest dungeons.
1) Disagree. Auto-queuing takes the social aspect out of forming group. A more comprehensive LFG tool though would be nice for both PvE (Personal Story, Events, General Grouping) and WvW (Siegeing, Roaming Parties ect).
2) Again, I don’t want to have to be limited to one content type to gear up.
It’s kind of like GW, where the best gear is easy to get, and everything else is just refining your build / skill hunting ect.
As is, WoW is already established in their PvE model. In order for GW2 to compete, they’d either have to produce something better or offer an alternative experience (which is what they’re doing).
I’d say it’s more a game you can pick up as and when you want to with no pressure of keeping up with anyone to access content.
Anything white can be salvaged, so that’d be your best bet.
More often that not, white stuff on the TP is cheap, and you can resell the mats. Would prolly make some money off of it too.
Whut? Seriously?
Got a screenshot or is this one of the ‘my uncles third cousin twice removed’ stories?
Rename it The Mistral and I’m in
Joking aside, adding to what Redux said, try to come up with the lore / theme of combat first, since this will dictate the rest of profession mechanic, skills ect.
Try to avoid making them like other classes
Quite a cool mechanic for Bards I found was in Forsaken World, where skills would have notes. Playing a series of notes would cause a passive effect you could use to use more powerful skills.
I might have been exaggerating a tiny bit… still there’s alot that goes on in a daily for casual players. Just saying. Make it hard and increase the reward by 1 tenth-fold while adding a “little bit” more difficulty is what i’m saying.
As a casual player myself, I can’t say that that I find it too much work. I usually get the daily done in 20 minutes if I’m lucky with the requirements, but it never takes me more than an hour.
And adding reward while making it more difficult still goes against your statement that there’s already a lot in the Daily for casual players.
30 min? too much :P I log on to check TP and log off.
Nuff with the joke, I still say more reward would be nice. Maybe make the daily harder or something I unno lol
So basically, what we have now is an obscene amount of things, but you reckon they should reward more, and in line with that make it more difficult…
I’m struggling to understand the logic.
nah log on forum is good enough
complaining about daily gets stale fast.
But that’s part of my playstyle.
Log in – 1 daily
Login in 3 times – monthly
Log in for longer than 5 min – 1 daily
log in for longer than 30 min – 1 daily
log in for longer than 1 hour – 1 daily
Draw 1 weapon – 1 daily
Swap weapon in town – 1 daily
Force your character to say " I can outrun a centaur " 1 daily
etc etcyou get the gist ;P
Can’t do that: Logging in doesn’t suit my play style.
Maybe we should have a ‘log in the forums and complain about Dailies’ daily.
It’s a problem because these daily/monthly does not coincide with what casual players usually do. I don’t know if you have noticed but dungeons (ie. monthly) are not what casual players do on a daily basis. Most casual players just log on, do some WvW and then logs off.
You shouldn’t speak for everyone.
As a casual player, I do whatever. And if I want the monthly, I’ll put that extra bit of effort in for it.
As it is, ding 5 dungeons in 28 days isn’t really the most taxing of requirements.
(edited by TheDaiBish.9735)
I think it’s funny to see Anet trying to get us to do an obscene amount of things for 1 reward. Someone in that company needs to learn the balance between labor and gain.
One reward?
well when the story is not pew pew, then there is actually a story.
i think i read like 5 lines of dialogues in the whole prelude.
The story is still playing out. It’s 5 lines at the moment. When the next thing happens, it’ll add more lines to the story. And when the next comes out, they’ll be more again.
And I’m not talking about just NPC dialogue. Our experiences as players also make the story, both the generic and individual experiences.
Kind of like how in WvW, it doesn’t have a story, but you tell of this one time where you had a struggle to hold people off in an epic battle.
Kill one rabbit? That’s too easy! Fix nau!
How about non-risen giant?
You’ve got to sweeten the pot a little, here. Make it 10 and you’ve got yourself a deal.
I don’t kill giants though. It’s not part of my playstyle.
Well yea but I also want the reactions of the players themselves. Knowing how real people who experienced it felt will help me make this more like a story/journal/diary. So if at least a few people can answer some of the questions, it’ll help me. But I think I’ll update my post and add another question.
Well, a diary is a record of events, so if you done it with a player, you could also record that. I.E a player sees something really cool, tells you about it, and you include it in the days log.
If we could type our own, that’d be pretty cool.
What NPC’s in the game have you met that provided you with more info about the recent events? (Not including the heralds or the momento collectors, cause they always say the same thing.)
Not gonna lie, I haven’t done it yet down to Guild runs and such XD I plan on doing it tonight though
OR why no a NEW legendary weapons :/
Legendary Weapons for Laurels. Really?
As is, you could get 2 Ascended Rings and an Amulet for just over the price of the tonic. If you don’t want the tonic, why complain? Tonic were incredibly popular in the first GW.
IMO, while I’m not going for the tonic, there is a lack of fun vanity stuff in game. More power to the people who are into that.
Honestly, I don’t think it’d be too insane to put a legendary there for a large amount of laurels. I mean, all legendaries are is a special skin.
Assuming someone plays daily, they’d only be able to make ~40 laurels per month.
Why not put a legendary there for like 250 laurels? Each account would only be able to get ONE in a 6-month period (assuming no other uses for laurels). It’d be a good incentive to get someone to play EVERY DAY. (Which is what the laurels are anyway.)
I, personally, have no desire to grind for a legendary currently… But if a cool skin was available as a laurel reward, I’d probably save up for that.
There are already people out there with multiple legendaries, so I don’t see why everyone’s so adverse to making them easier for the average person to get.
I have a problem with Legendaries as they are now simply because their just a grind and no context. Adding them to this just makes them another grind, albeit gated by time and not resources.
Maybe have a component unique to it, but IMO Legendary weapons need to be more than ‘collect and exchange’.
Named Exotics or skins unique to Dailies, however, would be a different story.
Yea kinda. But I want it to be a Charr and a Norn, probably from the norn’s point of view. But the the Norn is your everyday normal player, but for whatever reason he writes this, so in a hundred of years, the citizens of tyria will remember his adventure. Or maybe that’ll be us in one year. But yea you get what I mean.
It’d probably make a great RP tool if you had it from player-perspective, but NPC’s had stories you could use in your diary.
Something like:
I helped out again today, building temporary housing and gathering supplies for the refugee’s. During a break, I was talking to a Norn kid named Olafson, who told me…
they could have at least put a level 80 beast coming out of the ground and going all pew pew…
something…
anet knew it was going to be packed with high level toons.
make the elemental that spawns at various level depending on the average level and quantity of players nearby…
stuff like that…
Because skipping chapters in a book is so much fun…
Thing is, this event is a build-up. Read any decent story and you’ll realise it isn’t pew-pew all of the time.
theres no events in dungeon and no gathering.
so i have to go somewhere, facerolling content to make it happen.
it bores me, i want the high adrenaline dungeon content!not zergfest and spanking low level mobs.
Really? I finished my Event daily in a dungeon…
(edited by TheDaiBish.9735)
What, like type it in and leave a diary for others to read / store to read later? That’d be pretty cool.
Hopefully this sill be alleviated when they are able to give people an option of choosing which task they want to complete, but until then, people are going to complain.
They’ll complain after it’s released. 4 out of 6 and people will complain that there are 3 they don’t like to do. Meaning they’ll have to do one that they don’t like.
And there’s probably someone that will complain that it is choose 4 of 6 and not do all 6.
And you’ll get the complaint that out of the 6, they only like doing one of them things.
Gotta love this, you doing it wrong, don’t PuG elitism. While back in the days of yore, we heard stuff about ‘playing your way’. Course, now it’s play it the way we say.
Games have rules and regulations. “Play the way you want” within them rules. Not hard to understand.
Being able to cheese your way through fights (I.E die > res > die, rinse and repeat until boss is dead and collect your rewards) if you have one competent team-member is stupid design. It also cheapens the rewards.

We’ve already got one of these threads: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/In-my-opinion-this-game-requires-too-much-grind/first
Just a heads up, a Mod might merge you with it.
The problem is, to generate revenue, the game needs players playing it. Having epic content with no grind will only last as long. That’s why ‘grind’ is used.
I mean, you say put Hearts in, but what happens after the Hearts are done? And the faction you suggested? If you don’t want ‘grind’, then you’re going to max it out quite quickly. Anything more than a month and people accuse it of being a ‘grind’.
TL;DR – Content takes time to get produced, that’s why ‘grind’ is used.
As for dungeons: That’s 180 tokes a day for all 3 paths (that’s not including the tokens you get in bags, which tends to bring it up to about 70 tokens a run). An entire set of armour costs 1380. So if:
I’d say that’s pretty reasonable, to be fair.
Uhh….the monthly is the same for everyone…
You seem to be misunderstanding.
If someone is going down every 5 seconds, you’re doing it wrong.
The teamwork is to help stop people going into Downed state to begin with, or to give them enough time to recover to remove DP.
There’s nothing wrong with failing, as long as you learn something from it.
I hope ArenaNet hurry up with the whole “Do 4 out of 6” thing.
I want this just so people stop getting their tears all over the forums.
Thing is, it won’t.
“WAAAA, I got 3 easy things but I still got to pick one thing I’ve got to go out of my way to do!”
Bolt and Flameseeker Prophecies looks pretty cool

Happy Birthday!
Unfortunatly, I only have 12s to my name (SO MUCH SHINY THINGS!), so I can’t really send you anything.
Nope. Need to be logged in.
Are 5 dungeons and 5 Dailies over 28 days REALLY that much of an inconvenience?
You don’t understand. If we have to take a break from doing the exact same thing over and over to go finish an achievement, it throws off our groove. Or something.
It’s probably the lack of caffeine at the moment, but I can’t tell if you’re being serious lol.
He’s not being serious
Ahh, thanking you.
In hindsight, the ‘or something’ should have given it away.

Someone doesn’t like this month’s Monthly’s? Why doesn’t it surprise me…
“OMG ANET I DON’T WUBVWUB!”
Takes out the WvW
“OMG ANET Y U FORCE US INTO FRACTALS?!”
Takes Fractals out
“OMG ANET…”
Seriously…Whatever they do, people are going to moan.
Are 5 dungeons and 5 Dailies over 28 days REALLY that much of an inconvenience?
i would like to shoot ‘’rainbow dash’’…
You monster!
Just kidding. I want the Dreamer to create rainbow explosions every time I get a boon.
i cant really do the gold thing, i have only ever gotten a character to 24, i find levelling slow, so i cant really get gold
Then you’ll have to pay or wait until you can earn gold.
That’s all there is to it.
Well, why not steadily save up gold to buy gems? Otherwise it’s a case of forking out the money.
Why not do a bit of both? Half gold half cash?
They gave us 5 months of free and plenty of notice for the change to paid.
Why did you wait?
because my friends only just got the game, i was in a nice guild in whiteside ridge, then i left it and got invited to a desolation one, and then the patch happened the next day
and it also didn’t help that the day the patch happened i wasn’t at home so i couldn’t go on it
Well, that’s hardly on the onus of ANet. Why not use Guesting?
I guess it is some kind of tactic to take my comments completely out of context, but I don’t know why.
1. We aren’t talking about Cosplay, we’re talking about an MMO. So…whatever.
Hey, you’re the one that brought up adult women holding kittens and then the polar opposite (both of which have nothing to do with MMO’s). My point was Cosplay isn’t bizarre to those who do it, albeit poorly put forward.
2. I was replying to a comment made about magic and fireballs. As I said, fireballs have a purpose – they burn your enemy. What do the unicorns and butterflys do to your enemy? I didn’t ask what they stood for.
They don’t have a purpose. They’re purely aesthetic.
Elements standing for things is also in the game as well though.
Why does Air Attunement focus on mobility? Because Air is seen as mobile element.
Why does Fire Attunement focus on damage? Because Fire is seen as destructive.
Why does Water Attunement focus on healing and support? Because Water is seen as healing.
Why do Mesmers have Butterflies? Because they’re asscoiated with Chaos Theory.
I could put a strong argument forward for changing Necro life orbs to butterflies.
They’re all simply aesthetics that are appropriate to the purpose of the skill.
Let’s turn to other Legendary weapons:
What’s the purpose of Juggernaut affecting your armour? It doesn’t make you more resistant to attacks.
The Lightning around Bolt? Doesn’t deal any extra damage.
What about the trails left by Twilight and Sunrise?
And yet I don’t see you complaining about the lack of purpose from these.
An adult woman wearing a ruffly babydoll dress holding a giant lollypop is bizarre.
Also known as cosplay.
What is the purpose of unicorn arrows? Do they run up and impale your enemy? What do the butterflies do? Ooo, scary! I suppose your enemy is laughing so hard at you that they’re rolling around on the ground and thus vulnerable to your other attacks?
Butterflies are normally associated with the Chaos Theory (flapping wings cause hurricanes and all that). Mesmer are to do with chaos. Not to mention Mesmers have the whole theatrical thing going on (in GW, Vassar hung around Foible’s Fair, while Lady Althea hung around this outdoor theater).
As for Unicorns, well, in Medieval times they represented purity and strength. Coat of Arms had them on and everything. Look at the Sigil the Dreamer uses (Purity). Take what you will from that.
[/quote]
cheesy.
i want a shield with a clown face on it.
Isn’t this, like, the 10th time you’ve said this?
You think that’s bad? Look at Quip. I’m so going to blast my enemies with magic bubbles. Rather than legendary weapon I’d call it a joke weapon.
Aim for the eyes and you can perma-blind them with the bubbles and confetti.
That alone means Quip needs a nerf.
You or others might have other questions and I could give you a very long post about this. But who would even actually care… Anet won’t change their philosophy.. (Include the casual, exclude the hardcore)
Then this post is more of a QQ about ANet’s direction and not constructive criticism with suitable suggestions?
“I’m leet and I want to be rewarded for it” isn’t a suggestion or constructive criticism, at the end of the day.
It’s not a simple graphics change.
I am sure that allowing topless female characters are technically a simple graphics change. Trust me, there will be a kitten storm.
In the end you could argue that the joke of the century equals legendary, but we all know that a lot of people want to look awesome or kitten. I am not saying there’s no room for rainbows and shooting unicorns if it must be, but if your main weapon is a shortbow, you don’t have much choice, do you? The point that there will be more legendary skins in the future doesn’t help. People want to get a cool legendary weapon now and this just can’t be the only legendary shortbow right now. That’s just taking the kitten with a large part of the player base.
Topless females would cause a kittenstorm because the game is rated 12+ (exactly the same reason they don’t have blood splatters). If it was rated 18+, I don’t think it’d cause that much of a stir.
And don’t get me wrong, I’m all for more variety. I agree that there should be more choice, and they should have done a Sunrise/Twilight thing. Personally, my fave shortbow skins are Wintersbark and the HoM skin.
However, if the Legendary was a bow that shot a massive dragon, the same people here complaining about the Dreamer would probably laugh at people complaining about how it doesn’t fit into their idea of what a Legendary is, just as the people who like the Dreamer are laughing at the people who are complaining that it doesn’t fit into their vision of what a Legendary is.
My bad I guess I should have elaborated. The bow had nothing to do with my having less fun, it was that person’s attitude/him acting like a jerk that made it less fun. The bow was just a tool that he uses. I have no problems with the bow, only with the reasons for which that specific bow is being used
Ahhh. I get where you’re coming from.
Actually, I think he’s referring to all the QQ in this thread over a simple graphic change. He may not have put it most eloquently, but you got to admit; all this over a simple graphics change is pretty ridiculous.
As for using it to upset others, not sure how you do that tbh
