Fractal Chest Loot Stealth Nerf

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

YUP. That is all I keep hearing. But the RNG forum trolls keep saying RNG and the dev’s claim nothing has changed. CLEARLY NOT THE CASE. Thanks for the input and thanks to the mods for finally leaving these threads alive long enough for people to respond.

The “RNG forum trolls” are simply applying common sense:

If there was a stealth nerf, it’d affect everyone. Not just everyone you know, but every player playing.

If there are people saying that they haven’t seen a change, then it’s either:

  • They suddenly got luckier with RNG, in which case the opposite is also possible.
  • There wasn’t a stealth nerf, and people have hit a bad run of luck.
  • There’s an issue with the loot system, DR or both, and it’s only affecting certain players.

There are a number of things GW2 could take from GW in terms of this:

  • Skill Capturing – Instead of just giving us the skills, make us hunt for them.

Please no.

Elite skill hunting in GW1 was one of the worst features, to me, because you had to sacrifice a skill slot for Capture Signet and sometimes the Elite skill you cap, in normal/non-hunting gameplay, is borderline useless because you didn’t put any points into it (i.e. getting an Elite Prot Prayers skill when you have 0 points in it).

Who says it has to be the same system?

Since we can swap skills out in the world, I’d say what you are complaining about would be a non-issue in GW2.

  • Skills Have Additional Effects When Criteria Are Met – This, IMO, was what added depth to the GW system, and not the sheer number of skills. For example, Teinai’s Crystals would deal damage, but also apply Cracked Armour if they were suffering from a Water Hex. This allowed people to build skills that chained together for devastating effect when used properly.

OMG this! I miss this so much.

There are a number of things GW2 could take from GW in terms of this:

  • Skill Capturing – Instead of just giving us the skills, make us hunt for them.
  • A Variety Of Weapon Skills – Give us a pool of 2 – 4 skills for each slot that keep in with the theme of the weapon, but allow to mix the playstyle up a bit. For example; Warrior Sword 5 Riposte could be exchanged for Seeking Blade, that causes Bleeding if Blocked, while Ele Fire Staff 3 Flame Burst could be exchanged for Rodgort’s Mark, which causes the next application of Burning to also deal all of its damage in a Burst.

Disagree.

The whole point of dungeons is to work together; not try to out-do each other on damage.

1) true still that dont happend its all zerg the boss with no tactic or coordnation.

2) The same way that Anet can say that waypoint zerg is not the way it should be, they could do the same with boss fights

1) If that’s the case, why is everyone complaining about waypoint zerg being taken out?

2) They’ve already said they’ll be looking at boss fights and changing / adding mechanics to it.

The Dailies are meant to be a way for casual gamers to be able to gear as well.

If you’ve only got an hour and for whatever reason that particular event doesn’t spawn, then your screwed.

Also, think about how flooded the zones will become if you include specific areas needed for the Daily. Unless players had different zones, and you included all zones in the list and had some sort of statement to say that if x people have this zone, assign them another, it would become a lag fest for those running less-than-stellar specs.

How Guild Wars 2 Could Improve!

in Suggestions

Posted by: TheDaiBish.9735

TheDaiBish.9735

Two KEY things thats Guild Wars 2 needs:
1. A more responsive and diverse combat. Fore example: My Warrior with 2 Axes has these following abilities:
Ability nr1: Auto Attack
Abiity nr2: Rotate once and deal damage to your surroundings
Ability nr 3: Throw your axe
Ability nr4: Attack with both axes
Ability nr 5: Rotate around for about 5 seconds

Not going to comment on anything else, but these skills do more than just damage:

  • 2 Applies Vulnerability to all surrounding foes
  • 3 Cripples, meaning you can catch up to them
  • 4 Grants Fury, increasing your crit chance
  • 5 is an AoE Adrenaline Builder since it hits so many times in one move

This set is perfect for burst damage and Adreniline building.

Ok, How would you design end-game?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: TheDaiBish.9735

TheDaiBish.9735

I would strongly consider adding raids.

No gear grind (although you may be able to attain Ascended gear), just epic boss fights for 10 man groups in instanced dungeons.

They can be tuned to be hard as long as there is some prestige to beating them.

Maybe have them drop unique skins …but otherwise just give guilds content that actually requires guilds (and that isn’t WvW).

They’ll be introducing Guild Missions soon.

Guilds are extremely important to the game. We need to ensure there is a volume of content to foster this strong community/social bond. To that end, we’re working on adding new types of content to the game in early 2013 that will allow guilds to go on missions together. Some of these missions may be content designed specifically for the guild to accomplish within certain constraints or time requirements, while others will see the creation of new content by a guild/s everyone in the world can experience. Over time we’ll continue to expand this system with new guild rewards, missions, and tools to allow guilds of all sizes to play a stronger part in solidifying the communities of the GW2 world.

I liked how in Beta, Ele’s had a Trait that cause Lava Font to fire projectiles. That was pretty cool.

I think skills need more to them as well. Kinda like how in GW skills would do something else if a condition was met (Shatterstone > Teinai’s Crystals > Teinai’s Prison)

For example, Backbreaker:

Knocks down foe. If target is Weakened, this attack in unblockable.

Yes this is a complaint thread, it’s also an idea on a support forum!

Charging people to move between realms is wrong! Anet never charged a penny on GW1 and did just fine, the seven day transfer wait was good enough!

GW1 didn’t have WvW. That’s why their charging. Why do you think they reset the ranks?

Because it wasn’t indicative of the servers community, rather than people who’d hop from winning server to winning server.

This is irelevant, we got by perfectly fine before the paid transfers, an easy solution would be to just cap the server pop!

If they capped the populations, you still wouldn’t be able to move…

And like I said, if it was all fine before paid, why did they reset the WvW rankings?

Server wins after the week > people flock to top server.

Adding a payment stops the majority of people and large guilds / alliances from doing that. Adding a time limit on transfers doesn’t.

Great answer!

Or at least allow us different characters on different servers, instead of tying your account down and refusing to let you delete it!

Spying. People were complaining about it before.

For Structured PvP, the new armour is actually a skin. This link shows how to use the token to create the armour. Changes in armour though are purely cosmetic.

In SPvP, you only use an Amulet, Runes and Traits to adjust your stats. Other slots like accessory and rings are locked.

Level 80 is advantageous in WvW, since you got access to all of your Traits as well as top-end armour.

February monthly

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: TheDaiBish.9735

TheDaiBish.9735

Another monthly I can’t complete, because of the reasons given below.

I don’t do any WvWvW, I hate dungeons because everyone else is probably just a undergeared/skilled player, and I have never been in fractals because they just suck. I don’t want to kill mobs because it is a time waster, and also salvaging is just another gold sink. All jumping puzzles are too hard to find and complete, and it takes too long time. Events are full of event skippers so I don’t want to do those either.

That being said, I can’t get any dailies done either. Why would I res npcs; if they were stupid enough to get killed in the first place they deserve to stay defeated until server restart. Underwater combat is extremely slow and boring. Since I solo I can’t finish combo field daily. Crafting is just lame and another gold sink. Veterans are too hard to solo. I don’t want to gather worthless pieces of ore or wood when I explore around. And don’t tell me slaying 15 different mob types is exactly fast or easy…

Why can’t they add challenging, awesome and fun dailies / monthlies, like “add 10 people to your friend/block list”, “log off 15 times”, “stand idle in Lion’s Arch for 20 mins”, “get 5 grey vendor item trash drops from mobs”, “talk to 2 different Black Lion Trading Post representatives” or “open yet another ’Dailies/Monthlies are horribad QQ -thread” and “QQ about dailies in 5 different threads”.

I agree. Dis is gonna be goooood.

People complain because they still like the game.

No, the people who provide constructive criticism like the game and want it to succeed. I.E. ANet, this bit sucks / is a bit lacking, this is how I feel you could improve it.

The people who complain I.E OMG ANet, I don’t like this daily / monthly / new sparkly effect, change it / reward me for what I do anyway are complaining down to some sense of entitlement that because they bought the game, they can demand changes to be made to suit them.

I dub this ‘The Customer Is Always Right’ syndrome.

OT:

I don’t think ‘grateful’ is the right word. I’d say more ‘appreciate’.

While people may not be happy with the products, updates and such, they should ‘appreciate’ how much work has gone into it / that we’re getting free updates ect.

People can ‘appreciate’ these sort of things even if they don’t like it, but I wouldn’t say they’d feel ‘grateful’ for it.

Again, I would not be wasting my time if I was not hearing this everywhere. Definitely hear it the most in fractals. I personally have 4 alts that can do lvl 20+ so for the last few weeks I’ve been doing 4 lvl 20 daily’s a day and a 30. Before the patch was I getting minimum 2 rares from the chests and 2-3 rares from maw chest including cores/lodestones. Since the patch I’ve done multiple lvl 20 dailys a day and am lucky to get one rare on the whole run. I don’t think I’ve gotten a single core from the maw chest and again have had many with NO rares at all. There is no way for three weeks I was getting insanely lucky then all of a sudden a patch comes and my luck runs out. Every I talk to is saying the same thing about fractals since the patch.

The only reason I question is because I’ve found it to be the other way.

I haven’t seen a drop in Rares than before the latest patch. I’m getting guaranteed rares in Dungeons, and more frequent BoH and Masterwork+ drops in WvW. I run 0 MF.

My whole point is there is no such thing as DR bug. For some reason that I can only speculate on, ANET stealth nerfed loot drops and I say stealth because it was not in the patch notes but its obviously and clearly happening to EVERYONE except those few who are getting the lucky side of RNG.

Couldn’t the reverse also be said and the ones saying that there was a stealth nerf hit the unlucky side of RNG?

I would not be taking the time to make this post if it was a few isolated incidents of “unlucky” people. If you took the time to read and more importantly COMPREHEND what I wrote, I’m seeing these complaints EVERYWHERE from MANY MANY MANY people. There comes a point where its no longer unlucky DR. It’s a stealth nerf.

Ok, let’s put it another way:

Do you have quantifiable evidence that there was a stealth nerf? And by quantifiable, I mean numbers of people who have poor drops against people who haven’t, as well as numbers of drops compared to before where you perceived the nerf, and not people complaining because they’ve suddenly hit a patch of bad luck.

Otherwise we’re talking about anecdotal evidence.
