In my opinion, anything and everything that is a part of GW2 is fair game for dailies and monthlies.

So, you’d be okay with having to craft a legendary as part of a monthly, say? I mean, legendaries are part of the game and there’s got to be plenty of players that could manage to craft a legendary if given a whole month. lol

Why be lazy?

Hey that could be a new category, legendailies… sorry, I’ll shut up now… :P

We need a new Daily criteria:

Because if what I described is going to happen later, its already too late.

How so?

Currently, what is happening now is happening.

Suddenly, these creatures burst from the ground, making the evacuation much more urgent.

Can you honestly say what this ‘prelude’ event is fun? It was menial, and I’m not the only one here who thinks so.

I think it sets the scene:

  • We know the refugees have left because they’ve lost their homes.
  • We know that there’s freak weather occurring (according to one Norn, it’s because of the atmosphere, or something like that), and that fissures are popping all out of the ground.

As the story progresses:

  • We’ll find out what’s causing it.
  • We’re bound to fight new foes.

Not everything has to be rush and fight right from the get go. After all, it’s a ‘prelude’.

1. Do Hearts, they give XP and turn into Karma Vendors that sell stuff for Karma.
2. If an event pops, abandon the Heart and do the event.
3. Stick around after the event has finished, since sometimes they chain together into an event chain.
4. Keep an eye on map-chat, since people tend to link events that are going on.
5. Gather, since that also gives quite a bit of XP.

Guild Wars 2

War = Fight everyone and everything, fight alone, no need for a guild.

I hope you know Guild Wars is named after a lore event that happend many years ago and not after a game mechanic.

He has a point though.

If you’re struggling with bad groups, get organised within a guild.

If you want to go lone wolf, don’t complain about PUG’s.

How about spawning refugees at the edge of the map, have them run to a certain point chased by a spawn of new creature types? Stuff thats like new you know? with fail criterias to give rescue events a sense of urgency?

How do you know this won’t be in as the story progresses?

Refugees have left their home because their homes have been turned to rubble and there’s freak weather, presumably stopping them from rebuilding.

It’s called ‘building up’.

PvE - Merging the GW2 Philosophy with RAIDS

in Suggestions

Posted by: TheDaiBish.9735

TheDaiBish.9735

GW2 sets itself apart, which is why I have to ask do you want to add raids (another games idea) to this? How can it continue to evolve if it just copies the tired old formats of what came before it?

GW2 in itself isn’t entirely innovative, rather it has taken things from other games and attempted to polish them, in some cases succeeding, and others still needing work: World Bosses, Dungeons, Leveling, Exploration, Dynamic Events, Dailies.

That’s what evolution is: strengthening parts of something. Not chucking things away and starting from scratch.

I think the majority of people have a stigma against raids because they’re also usually associated with the gear treadmill:

> Raids = Content
> Treadmill = System

They’re not necessarily one in the same.

GW had ‘raids’, which IMO were way more fun that the ones you find in games such as WoW. Instead of a linear path, these were massive areas with multiple places, sometimes multiple levels, and quest chains that took you all over the place which you had to do before confronting the final boss.

I guess limited Events and limited info appeals to some, after i got the achievement i just went back LA like i always do, a bit depressed to be honest.

I think it’s more to do with patience.

Some people want all of the story there and then so they can go through it all, while some people don’t mind the waiting and seeing how it plays out.

Lately, I’ve been doing my Dailies in these areas so I can see if anything happens.

For example, when you done the personal story, did you know straight away you’d need to destroy the Eye of Zhaitan?

You had limited info then, and you gathered more over time.

This story is no different.

Also everyone fleeing because of a few air vents popped up and the earth shakes? come on…. if the elder dragons didn’t worry them and the monsters, Destroyers, Flame Legion, Icebrood…a little earth shakes and they all flee.

Need more info or i stop caring honestly..

Because we’re not going to find out as the story progresses, right?

Also:

“Charr and norn refugees crawl from the wreckage of their homes in the Wayfarer Foothills and Diessa Plateau, struggling to find shelter in the south.”

That’s why they’re fleeing. They’ve lost their homes.

Seriously? Seriously? Wow – the daily is crazy easy to accomplish. How much easier could it be?

Kill 1 monster
Use a Waypoint
Jump
Move backwards
Take off a piece of armor and put it back on
Dance

How would that be? Wait,no that won’t work either, waypoints cost a few copper.

We have:

  • Craft / refine 10 things
  • Speak to a Laurel vendor

If they implemented your suggestions they wouldn’t shock me. And then you’d get the people suggesting that the Waypoint one is a scam to get us to use the Gem Store, and those who complain dancing isn’t part of their daily routine.

Is this a fair fix for precursors?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: TheDaiBish.9735

TheDaiBish.9735

This can be offset by allowing 1 legendary per character. Furthermore several prerequisites need to be completed in order to begin your legendary story.

1) World Completion
2) Do each dungeon (story)
3) Do every dragon event

Then you could tackle this quest by completing the following:

1) X-ammount of DE’s (Hero’s Badge)
2) X-ammount of crafting/slavaging (Diploma of Weaponsmithing)
3) Revive X-ammount of fallen team mates.
etc. etc.

These can be then taken to crafting or mystic forge. The precursor could be obtained by going into a special zone. It could be a mix of zone and dungeon. By completing specialised DE’s in that zone you get access to a dungeon run. After finishing it all you can get a pre-precursor items which can be crafted by the weaponsmith in that zone.

Then you take all your stuff to the mystic toilet and whalaaaa – LEGENDARY WEAPON of CHAOS

Also, while undertaking the quest you can’t use any Waypoints aside from dungeon Waypoints (so that you don’t inconvenience others).

They could always take a leaf out of the Fractal system, where the higher you go, additional mechanics are added:

As I said before, the above “solution” has only two outcomes.

1. Everyone and their dog and their dog’s fleas has a legendary.
2. The system is actually so hard skill-wise that 99% of players can’t even hope to get a legendary.

In either case much crying would ensue.

I think there should be skill parts to the process, personally:

Disassembling what legendaries mean

Sorry, but guild wars 1 had obby armor which required you to grind 2 specific tedious instances. To even get into those instances your region had to have favor of the gods, which required OTHER PEOPLE to win PvP matches. Few people had obby armor prior to the perma shadowform assassin era.

Whiner’s gonna whine I guess.

Favour of the Gods was changed back in 2006 (I think), which extended it when someone maxed a title track.

Disassembling what legendaries mean

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: TheDaiBish.9735

TheDaiBish.9735

When you use a word that has an associated meaning with it, it creates expectations alongside it.

When someone mentions a Legendary weapon, you think of a weapon that is famous within the culture. Sometimes they’re gotten through divine choosing (Excalibur), through an heroic act (Naegling), or maybe they’re Legendary because they were supposed to have some sort of special power (Caladbolg).

If these weapons were called Mystic, Pimped or something else, then it wouldn’t create the expectation.

Currently, these ‘Legendaries’ have no story behind them, making them just overly expensive Exotics / Ascended / whatever the highest tier is.

Dynamic Leveling Adjustment

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: TheDaiBish.9735

TheDaiBish.9735

I for one disagree with these changes because:
(1) What’s wrong with being more powerful in lower level zones? After putting in the time, effort and money to level my character I feel I deserve to be rewarded by actually BEING more powerful in lower areas.

Picture this:

You go into an event in Queensdale as a level 80, you sneeze, and you kill all of the mobs related to an event before the people who actually require these events for XP get a chance to tag the mobs. Now, if you aren’t the only level 80 there, the people who actually need the events are screwed out of their participation reward. This also goes for if you want to play with a friend who has only just joined, but you don’t want to roll a new character. You can’t join in with the events because you’ll be killing everything before he/she gets a chance.

Also, they’d have to remove level-appropriate drops from the area, since all people will do is use the lower level areas for easy loot.

Hence, down-scaling.

I could also argue that easy =/= fun. After all, ‘fun’ is subjective, and there is no way in God’s green land they’ll please everyone.

Scaling down has a number of other advantages as well, such as:

  • stops people spoiling events for who they are meant for. If a level 80 comes in and absolutely destroys everything it sneezes at, that means the people relying on said events don’t get the participation needed to get XP.
  • keeps all content relevant. Not scaling down while having level-equivalent drops means everyone will farm the easiest areas for loot. Not scaling down while not having level-appropriate loot will mean everyone will stay in the higher areas.

Is this a fair fix for precursors?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

TheDaiBish.9735

1) Completing the Personal Storyline sends you on a quest to find an Ancient Blacksmith.

2) Talking to the Ancient Blacksmith, he tells you he can forge you a Precursor, but you’ll need to bring him the components to work with.

3) First component is Orichalcum for Swords, Guns ect, and Ancient Wood for Bows, Staves ect. However, given the nature of the precursors, and the amount of power the need to absorb, they first need to be ‘treated’.

4) Dull Shards are what will be used to combine with the base material to prepare them. However, these need to be prepared, since they don’t contain any nature of power to do with the Legendary. This is where lore comes in to determine how you ‘charge’ the shards.

Using Twilight as an example, this was Grenth’s sword during the battle with Dwayna. Therefore, you need to take these Shards to Orr during the Grenth event, and allow yourself to be hit with a specific debuff (Entered Grenth’s Realm). Killing a Shade will then charge one Shard into a Dusk Shard.

5) You need to take these Dusk Shards and Orichalcum Ore to Mount Maelstrom to the pool of lava, to combine them into Dusk Ingots (1 Shard + 1 Ore = 1 Ingot). This is the first component for precursors requiring metal. For Ancient Wood, you need to combine the [Prefix] Shard with Ancient Wood planks to create [Prefix] Planks. 50 of these will be needed, and make up the first component.

6) Second component are Obsidian Shards. X amount of these will be needed.

7) Third component is the inscription you with the Legendary to have (stats). 5 of these are needed.

Take all of these components to the Ancient Blacksmith, and he’ll forge you an account bound dull precursor.

I’d say have a similar process with the Legendary weapons as well:

  • Materials, as they are, can’t be used because they can’t handle the power. This requires you to undertake tasks to ‘prepare’ them.
  • Depending on the lore behind the weapon will dictate how you create these materials.
  • The Legendary will require you to visit all over Tyria including JP, Mini-Dungeons, Participation in Meta Events with the precursor equipped ect.
  • Reduce the generic Resources needed (Lodestones, Ore ect), and replace with Achievements, or add additional clauses (i.e., Dungeon Gifts only become available for purchase after completing Story and all 3 paths, and requires all of the Gifts, as opposed to just one.)
  • Combining the pre-cursor with all of these materials will forge a Prepared [precursor]
  • The last stage is what will add the effect, and will be dictated by lore. Taking Dusk and Twilight as an example, in order to imbue Dusk into Twilight, you need to pray at Grenth’s temple, and defeat The Remnant of Grenth (spooky, huh), which will prove your worth for the weapon.

1) Water World is simply gorgeous but something’s wrong power players there can not be a number of enemies or excessive force.

2) It annoys me enough Champions events according to me are totally unnecessary no one wants to kill a monster, long and still quite possibly without rewards or ridiculous fee.

3) I also noticed that very slowly gain a new player or game easily leaves.

4) GW2 needs perhaps better skills, 240 sec recharge is a possible world record in all mmorpg on world.lol

5) Mine personal views on Healers and tanks in this game is that I certainly anet added because have you seen any war without doctor or tank.

1) Are you talking about underwater combat here?

2) They’re looking at reworking the biggest fights in open world and dungeons so they aren’t large heath pools, but have additional mechanics.

3) Not sure what you mean.

4) 240 seconds is quite fast compared to some MMO’s. Not sure what point you’re making here though.

5) Disagree. I believe on of the best things about the game is that content doesn’t require a particular party composition to do content.

I could argue that someone could build characters now around certain roles now, if you build around certain effects:

  • Damage Mitigation – Weakness, Blind, Protection, Condition Removal, CC effects
  • Movement Control – Cripple, Immobilize, Chilled
  • Healing – Regen, Burst Heals

For example, I play my Warrior in this spec mostly:

  • Full Control (Hammer / Mace and Mace, w/ Kick, Bull’s Charge and Shrapnel Mine, with Leg Specialist).

This allows me to give my teammates a chance to gun down from a distance, as well as keep mobs away from the team if they run into trouble, while our Water Ele helps keep me alive.

If you run with a regular group, you can easily work roles out and choose to specialise in something with the current tools.

Addressing your claim that the game is mostly a solo game: It’s only a solo game if you make it one.

The combat and group dynamic in this game is extremely shallow and without the healer paradigm, they’ve set themselves up to never be able to design much more than what you currently see.

How does a healer allow them to design better encounter mechanics?

The healer’s role is to mitigate or repair damage, therefore any encounter mechanics would be designed around damage.

No one knows. As is, ANet don’t give definites early in case it isn’t actually ready for the patch.

Do any of the Mesmer clones have a Staff?

Because if so, there should be one (since that’s what the weapons are based off, and that’s why there isn’t a Foefire staff).
