Stronghold PvP Feedback

Got a solid 3 days of games in. Game mode is looking really good. Again tried a mix of going in solo and teams of 2-5 people. Game mode is still extremely fast paced. The constantly changing situations made some decisions key and also could spell defeat. We mixed a couple of conquest in along the way and it made those games seem simple by comparison. Experienced some of the same as above. TS in Stronghold was much more focused on people calling numbers, rotations and situations where as the Conquest games people simply talked football while playing or chatted about their weekend.

  • Couple of issues, hero channeling while in Elite form or Moa form seemed a serious edge with those builds. If that is intended then it is what it is.
  • Watermill in supply is hard block to treb, not sure that is changeable. Treb power and turn speed seemed fine.
  • Mist hero, saw one instance where the mist hero rotation was off. Normal rotation was 1 hero, 1 hero, 2 hero 2 hero 2 hero. One game had a 1 hero, 2 hero, 1 hero, 2 hero 2 hero. Maybe it was me but guildy remarked on it as well. But might have been both of us losing track of which rotation it was on.
  • Player kills in lord room. Go round and round here. One side of me says they should be worth more but afraid that would create turtling considering did see some games won already by holding off attacking teams that had gotten the doors down first so leaning towards let it ride. In general player kills going up by a few more points across the entire board may not be bad. But ANet has the stats so that’s an odd call without more information.
  • Not being able to rally off the NPCs is still a positive.

Even if all the above stayed the same I think its in a ready to go position based on testing this weekend. Excited to see it added to the playlists.

20% Increase isn’t really the issue. Add a piece as well and it might be more in line. Ricochet was used to try reach targets further in a group of targets and that’s one of the key pieces missing here.

I liked this one, was a little sad the day they removed it. Underwater combat does need some love but i liked the underwater cap point.

Is the guy you were fighting when the match ended still fighting you? If yes, keep it up. If he stops doing anything or starts moving away, grow up and leave him alone. Honestly, what kind of pathetic individual enjoys killing someone who is effectively afk?

Sadly it seems quite a number of the people on the forums like their AFK kills. More than I actually expected.

Yes, yes it is. Want to give a reason why you think its not a good idea? Or are you the one attacking people after the game is over since you lost and you don’t want people to give you a GG and check the score.

I know this is hard for you to imagine, but not everyone sees things from the same perspective as you do. Say one was embroiled in a close and competitive fight right as the game ends… some people like to finish for the fun of it, as—drumroll—different people have different opinions of what is and isn’t fun! People sure are fascinating, huh?

Rather than making whole threads about your jimmies being rustled by the mean man who dared to attack you after the game was over and nothing mattered anymore, why not just leave the game at that point if it bothers you that much?

Nevermind, you’re right. We should definitely change something about the game that works for the the vast majority of people because a few overly sensitive people took it way too seriously. While we’re at it, could we please remove people’s ability to kill Thieves? It feels very “unsporting” when I die as one…

lol. Suggestions are just that, suggestions. Part of the purpose of a forum is to share ideas. The purpose of thread is to get a feel from the community and see their thoughts. Concur, based on limited feedback I’m in the minority and that’s fine. Still wouldn’t mind more of a chance to take a look at the post game feedback, but again that’s me. I actually don’t know the vast majority of people though so can only go by the people I have talked about the topic with. Funny huh, actually discussing it with people versus assuming, kind of the point of a post don’t you think? And I know I am being too sensitive in my curiosity of people’s thoughts though.

I also concur that a fight in progress is fine, but this wasn’t about that. This is also more of the difference in an esport and physical one. In physical sports halt is called and you keep going, your out. But each to their own, depends where you are coming from. Anyway……good hunting.

I like deathmatch but am not a fan of courtyard. To avoid it, play ranked though. But ANet, when we get Stronghold, please add more DM maps and add a queue for DM, Conquest and SH.

I had a thief tell me how bad I was because he was finally able to kill me when the scoreboard came up…. I lost my kitten in laughter because he was also jumping on me…

In general though it doesn’t bother me if they want to keep fighting, I’ll lay down and take it like a roufied kitten. Lay it on me!

lol, nice. See that’s part of it. You stop and try and give some respect to the other side and then when its not returned by being attacked after its double disrepect. Maybe also too many years as a fencer has me biased.

If I’m having a good fight at the end of the match, I don’t want to stop it abruptly, and if my opponent isn’t stopping either, then I assume he or she thinks the same. I don’t really see the problem.

Thats different. But not spiking someone, to see them auto-rez and re-attack you? Do you see that as the same?

add an option to provide auto screen shot on score page i will be very happy.

Currently i will print screen the 2nd 3rd score detail upon a match is finished and continue my fight till the last or just dismiss myself immeditately after printscreen.

Being able to see game stats after would be nice.

@OP: The game is over. When it is over, I sometimes check my damage stats before leaving. If someone wants to kill me, fine. Maybe they will feel better actually being able to kill me when I am not moving.

It probably is WvW kicking in, it could also be the short end of match time period.

it already is coded another way when you open the bags manualy so then the nr 151 bag will go through and 1 item will land in the pop up screen like usual but then nr 152 wont go through and that would be that.

Concur, their logic already handles the overflow issue and you can easily test it with the scroll wheel/keybind and a large stack of any type of containers. After you hit that out of space one you will get the window and a game message indicating that the function failed something like can not open such and such. So…we just need the next step and have it recursively go through the bags within bags bit.

As I have posted in another thread:

1) ‘Open all’ sounds like a reasonable feature but if you apply a little thought you’ll come to the conclusion that it won’t be implemented for the following reason:

All loot bags offer the option of acquiring multiple items in their loot tables – when opening a significant number of bags (say 100) the number of different items being acquired is going to be far in excess of the number of bags opened. Inventory (player bag space) is limited and therefore the extra items acquired (over and above the available space in the players bags) would need to be stored ‘somewhere’ until the player clears their bag space.

This used to be my counter-thought to open all as well, until I hit the bag is full dialog. Haven’t seen it break. So if the open all applies a single open each time it repeats it would be fine since it would terminate the open all procedure as soon as the single bag that triggered the out of space event happened and force the player to deal with the space then and there. So when people are saying open all, its more a open each one in a sequence really fast versus wearing out our fingers and mouse buttons.

Just started using gaming mouse number 5 w/ Guild Wars due to the left mouse button wearing out so hear you, and that’s with setting up a keybind too.

For salvaging, would love to see a UI that allows you to put in place what is doing the salvaging (ie Salvaging Kit, Black Lion Salvage kit, Copper-Fed-O-Matic etc..) and then all the items that will be salvaged with that device.

Items would be added to the “Salvage Box” by a single click in the inventory viewer and items would continue to be added until the user hit a “Start Salvage Button” or a cancel button. Single clicking in the Salvage box would remove the item from the selected items in case something was added accidentally. After hitting “Start Salvage” UI would do one check if anything was rare or greater to give the “Are You Sure” breakdown warning for all the items and then proceed to apply the salvaging one item at time to ensure you have bag space for the salvaged materials and then stops if: you run of space, run out of charges on the kit, out of coin or it else it finishes the last item. This would save 1 click per item, 1 click per dialog box when doing rares and above and 2 clicks when selecting what kit to use to breakdown which in the case of rares and above is each time. In the case of a full rare group breakdown that’s a lot of clicks saved.

Similar concept might be applied to open these containers interface but was focusing on the OP’s salvaging point. Open all could be the same where it expands a bag and each inner bag one at a time until all items are opened else max space is reached at which point it stops.

Finishing New Enemies

Has anyone seen any indications that we will have new enemies like the Toxic Alliance that requires the enemy to be finished? Would make some sense with the concept that the third year reward was a permanent finisher and the new Scrapper Elite ability, else people have items that can only be used in PvP and WvW. I admit having to finish the Toxic Alliance members is what made some of those fights that much more interesting and gratifying which is why I am hoping that they go back in this direction.

Have said before, do not lower these, just add sub-achievements to them instead at lower intervals and done. The fact that some of these have already been achieved by people farming is bad enough. Don’t make the situation worse by decreasing the requirements.

Actually was wondering if it was thief night just last night as had some matches where there were 3 to a side and a large number where there were 2 each side. So least played, no but only one with those numbers won’t be sharing them.

What could you possibly fill 12 bank tabs with?

Anything and everything that doesn’t allow stacking.

The question was more along the line of how and why someone would need that much space unless they were a serious hoarder (ignoring items being held as investments).

Investing is a major impact on this. So are items like Black Lion Salvage kits. You get even more than 1 of these and you are losing space somewhere. Get 50+ and then its even worse. Let alone if you are acquiring material for mas crafting or other activities. And yes then there is the junk or siege or boosters…fills up fast.

If 12 tabs of bank space, 65 characters, and 7 inventory bag slots per character aren’t enough, then we have a hoarding problem rather than a storage problem. Start getting rid of stuff.

But why do we have to buy character spots to act as storage, that the point of storage expansions and their purpose.

12 bank tabs ain’t enough for you, seriously? I played since launch and I only kept 2 full tabs. You don’t need to keep all the stuff, throw them out or put in personal guild bank or your alts.

Good for you but some people like to store things for later use.

As for alts, having to switch between characters to move things around is highly annoying.

If someone wants more tabs why not? It’s none of your business.

I have 12 tabs and they’re mostly full. I like to organize my junk per tab. Makes it much easier to find stuff.

Agree, for those opposed, why are you opposed. How does this impact your game play if other players paying for extra bank tabs?

you do know, every slot takes up data on a server, which is then multiply per account.

That’s ANet’s issue. They control collections and what can get stored and stacked. They have already generated extra income via players picking up the extra bank tabs. Take cooking as an example, why aren’t the items constructed and used in other recipes in the collections tab? Sorry but the server admins and coding admins need to have space discussions.

Personally I’d dislike it if you have a nicely balanced fight towards the end and it gets interrupted so roughly. At least you get some more time like that.

I think its too much WvWism, something is attacking, go go go.

The fights that are in progress I get. Its the you stop attacking walked away or weren’t in combat and just start typing and here they come.

Stuck on racials skills Help!!!

I keep wanting to reroll because i see some other race that could be slightly better. I cant decide. I love racials skills but i also hate them too. Some tell me they don’t matter, some say that some classes elites are garbage so picking this or that racial elite makes a better build. So here I am stuck….

I really need to know why racials skill either matter or dont matter and why. The classes are engineer, mesmer, necromancer, and any other possible combinations that seem to work very well.

I just want to put this to rest so i can get on with the game without looking over my shoulder about what if.

Charr Engi Utility skills:

  • Hidden Pistol – extra evade and the toolbelt, Hidden Pistols, can deal some nice direct damage.
  • Sharpnel Mine – Works well if you are running a condi build or bleed in particular, the utility and the toolbelt skill can output some nice bleed stacks and duration.

Elites: Not really worth it.

Nothing worse then trying to tell a team that beat you that it was a good game to have a player still trying to beat on you well after the game was up. Only creates a negative environment that will carry from game to game after that. Saw a previous poster mention this and its a good idea. Add an instant death option after scoreboard comes up that kills people still attacking. Or at least make all players green so that people have a chance to review the scoreboard. Good gaming.

Why is the gyro visible? Wouldn’t that defeat the point of trying to make the group invisible? Not that it mentions how long it lasts anyways.

if we ever wanted to put some serious Game Balance into WvW, Anet would have to do finalyl all these things:

1) Remove Food and Nourishments completely from WvW. The only Buff Effects players should get from WvW is from Shrines, Claim Buffs, WvW Traits and WvW Equipment Upgrades
2) Nerf Conditions back to their original role of being focused CONTROL GAMEPLAY and not this power creeping competitive antagonist of a Damage Role for what is mainly Direct Damage responsible for and not Conditions.
Condition Damage should NEVER rival to even overshadow significantly direct damage at all. Conditions should just be for what Conditions are mainly meant and designed for – Control and suplementary damage. For that ever to happen would have Anet finalyl to completely redesign and rebalance all Boons, all Conditions, the Base health of all Classes invidually and redesign the Stats better so that actually defensive Attributes DO MATTER and not just only the offensive ones

Disagree on a couple the above.

Food and utility should be in play in WvW. It’s the ultimate place for designs to be tweaked, there should never be a “meta” for WvW because the situations and challenges should be diverse enough that you can never plan for what you will find. That’s what keeps this game mode always fresh. Food and utility are some ways to allow WvW to adjust aspects of their build on the fly. If anything we need additional buffs like these not have them removed.

Overtime Condi should exceed direct damage in output. That’s the point of the two. DD should be the burst side of the equation and condi should be the over time kill. Condi was never meant to be a secondary damage tool, it needed the rework. And yes I run both DD and Condi builds with some mixes.

So what if Scarlet does get resurrected by Mordy to be one of his soldiers, but she fights that programming and finally breaks free, clear of his influence and in her original, rational mindset? She then joins up with our characters to fight against his corruption, perhaps sacrificing herself again in the final battle.

This too would be rather fun, but please leave a little of crazy there. That was her charm.

Scapper is awesome. Its double fitting and was well received by other engi’s that I know. I think it was a good choice. Definitely prefer it over the potential we had for Forge or Forger.

Even with the masteries the level 80 Spirit Shard should go back in place. Why, simple:

  • It grants some feeling that hitting 80 has value, based on betas you will gain mastery XP as you go not just on hitting 80 over and over again.
  • It creates a good source of resources for people if they use shards versus just hording them. Shards are dropping but based on RNG they are not keeping pace for some people if their luck is not good.
  • It gives meanings to the +XP food and boosters that people have stopped using now once they hit 80 since it means nothing.
  • It was fun, hitting cap didn’t feel that way since there was something to collect from it. Will masteries fill this spot, no. They will be different and potentially fun on their own but still not fill that gap.

So OP, +1 from me and add another +100 from all the others in game that this has been discussed with.

Silverwaste Chest Farming

I am not opposed to the chest farms since its a high level zone and that’s one the places those things make sense to occur in. Have seen some negative maps in the past as people conflict between events and farms though so get where the OP is going. Sooner or later a map will draw a troll that decides that they are either going to block events or block the farm, that’s where the issues come in.

To that end if it were to change then it would fit the flow if the chests only appeared during the timeout period. The natural map flow would then also move the events thru their cycles as people finished the breaches so that they could get back to farming if that was what they were trying to achieve. There is already a pretty good balance in the zone since you need events to acquire shovels for the farm, this would work within that structure.

How did I know this thread was going to be created, ANet never intended for people to get keys so easily, maybe instead of boosting a toon to 10 and getting a key, you all can now start playing the game and perhaps one will drop?

I admit I buy keys and do key runs. I play WvW, PvE, Fractals and a lot of PvP. Actually end every night with PvP. You know what that gets you. ToKs. Have somewhere close to 1500 of them. Doing keyruns with other guild mates that also PvP was a fun side event and a way to keep them down some. It was a nice team building feature. Move this to a once a day and this would be more palatable.

What they should do is drop the requirement for the BL skins to 1 ticket regardless of skins. This would make paying for the keys a bit more palatable.

The rotation of their life cycle is what creates some of the demand for the skin and encourages people to act while they have the chance. This makes sense in the supply and demand portion of the skins.

Ironically fine with the scrap drop rate, the current chest selections are definitely lacking right now but they rotate which is what makes some chests more fun then others. But that doesn’t mean the current steps make sense.

But the people that don’t buy keys, will just convert in game gold to gems so you increase people grinding and people creating gold farms which creates negative environments.

Could of annoying things about this is:

  • ANet will not tell us the reason behind this change since it is more than likely multi-faceted and there are a number of reasons
  • This was a rather fun activity to do with guildmates after a night of pvp which now probably will be stopped

You never want to introduce “unfun” in your games, makes people move on and we do have a lot of new games coming out in the upcoming months.

I think you have it backwards. I think this issue was caused by new players, not by existing ones. This is also a bad move since existing players probably already bring in more gem store sales already then new players since older players might be more vested into the game so its actually the older players being penalized already.

There may have been a way for illegal RMT/gold sellers to potentially have abused the former system. Suppose they had large teams of players doing this:

- Use free accounts to farm keys and unlock black lion chests to get black lion scraps/tickets and other valuable items (endless hairstyle kits, rare dyes, rare minis, etc).
- When a free account reaches critical mass (RMT value of items exceeds cost of an account plus overhead), pay real money to unlock that account.
- Transfer items to hub account which handles the illegal item selling. Items get sold for more real money that it costs to unlock a single account.
- Unlocked account is now a burner that can be used for various additional purposes such as goldbot spamming, etc. Eventually it probably gets banned.
- Repeat

Doing this would allow the illegal sellers to earn real money, while any buyers would shoulder the risk of losing the items or possibly getting banned. Meanwhile, the update to limit black lion tickets to once per week would effectively kill this method for RMT/gold sellers since it will now be far to slow of a method to employ.

If ANet needed to tackle a free account RMT issue here, that’s good, but it would be nice to get some more info on why they nerfed key farming like they did. Without more details, it just seems rather spiteful to keyfarmers in general.

Then just block F2P accounts from acquiring keys.

Why? This was a good use to reduce the number of ToK that players that were already level 80 had. Are you planning on giving us another good use for ToK now that is of reasonable value? This process already had a cap on it since once people were out of ToK they would need to go and do another activity to re-acquire. This one hurts, why not make it once per day instead, that could at least be more reasonable, but a WEEK? As someone that acquired keys both ways this will make me question future purchases.

People say this game is pay to win. ANet should make him pay with gems. There can be Mordrem Commanders in the gem store and if he needs a new one, he has to pull out his wallet and buy them.
