Will have to add in another disagree to the OP. Risk=reward. Harder content should reward more since it requires more investment into the activity. I can agree with not making it mandatory but I strongly disagree with less effort = same rewards. I can also support the above statements that the rewards should be tradable so that players that may want something but do not acquire it for themselves can still acquire it via the TP. Likewise as previously stated ANet typically does not release rewards that are higher quality as in stats but tend to focus on increasing the overall chance of more rarer items. Considering PvE is the content that goes stale the quickest we do need improved AI and combat and therefore increased difficulty. If people just step into the new areas and can just spam 1 then people will quickly melt away from the game. People need see a stabbycat and pause for a second versus feel like they can rush into a pack of them while being partially tabbed out of game.

Now granted one day we might have player run NPCs to keep things fresh, but we aren’t there yet in this game.

I bought gems yesterday hoping I could get this, if it wasn’t a bug that is.

If that tiger is that size, I’m going to to buy it so fast the gems will leave scorch marks from flying out of my hands.

Getting that same reaction from a lot of people. As long as they aren’t exploitable that could be interesting.

On the Anni sale, news even about news of it would be nice.

Oh understand how they work about the charges, doesn’t deter the fact that it would be a good QoL feature.

On the salvage-o-matics side though I will disagree. I am one of the people that buy those. You use those based on the items. Copper for less than yellow and then silver fed or BLSK for yellow and above. I don’t think stacking salvage kits would impact sales that much of those items. If anything I know more people that have multiple copies of the O-Matics if they have at least one. The key for ANet to ensure that people are more likely to buy the ones from the gem store is to make sure that the price to use the gem store ones remain lower than the ones bought in game from the merchants. That by itself might keep a lot of people going back to the gem store one over buying and stacking the ones from the NPC vendors.

I guess if you are opposed to the idea, might I ask, why? How does it impact the game from a players perspective leaving the ANet side apart for a second? Is it helpful to have a party member to have to pause the group content so that they can get to a merchant to pick up more kits or exit the fractal to switch to the bank toon that has the backpack of BLSKs? Leave siege out of the their bags so that they can carry more loot in WvW since loot is what helps pay for that siege gear?

Now granted I am called a pack rat but I ask this while running with 160 units of bag space as well so its not from lack of carrying capacity. And as mentioned above if you are any type of key farmer/user the BLSK do take up a lot of space over time unless you waste them on things like blues and greens.

What burned you out last time? That might impact suggestions.

But even without that take a second and ask yourself if you are having fun in game on what you are doing. If the answer is no, then stop and see why. Its a game and it should be relaxing. If you find you are transferring real life issues to in game issues then that’s a different story. If its in game issues it might be that you were forcing yourself for whatever reason to do things that you didn’t really enjoy but felt forced into. Stop those.

There are not a lot of things that are so time sensitive that you should feel rushed. Start slowly and re-evaluate things that you are doing and do a fun check. Is it fun, yes, then go, else pause.

Depending on your personality you might also give yourself goals or just go with the flow. Word of advice for Mawdrey, take your time since if you rush it might regain that feeling of work that you experienced from before.

If you are routine based, set some time for a project like Mawdrey and some time for other things, some WvW, PvP, Fractals, crafting, exploring.

If you are guilded, see what’s going on in guild and see where that takes you. Something that can be fun is get a guild group and run a round of caller’s choice. Aka give each party member a block of time and they run the group through an activity. That way you get a mix of varied things and could find yourself going from AC1 to Ranked PvP to the silverwaste in short order to end up in a jumping puzzle or running from zergs while harvesting mats in a WvW zone.

If you are in a guild you enjoy, focus on activities with people that relax you and not ones that stress you. If not guilded, try and find one, it might be a matter of finding people that compliment you and are a positive influence on you and that can make you laugh and smile.

In any case, have fun, it is a game. Play as long as you are having fun. Good gaming to you and if I catch you in game, Good Hunting!

Have you done a tracert to the server? Might be an internet hop between you and them which would sadly mean neither can address, but at least you would get a better idea. You should be able to type /ip in game to see the IP of the server you are hitting, might also help them pin something down if its a server issue with some of the instances.

There seem to be 2 types of zerk discussions on the forums, this is one of them.

Its about balance. Play what’s comfortable for you. Some people do great in zerk, some not as much. This is a conversation about PvE yes? If someone chooses more defensive stats then offense its their choice. But if your defense is relying on the boss being dead before you are and that doesn’t happen it’s not the other players fault or their dps, its your own.

Things to consider, some people work with the mentality that dead people do 0 damage. Some people also don’t switch gear out when going from WvW to PvE.
Squishy in WvW means you are a priority and first down so that you become a rez bot for your team. And, some people like to play support.

On the comment that zerks don’t die more, I would have to see stats from ANet about that. But I have asked people after Teq that I rezzed alot what gear they were running, and so far the biggest group reply has been zerk. As I said works for some people but have also seen it not work for a lot of people.

So again, if you perform well in zerk, great enjoy. If you are a liability to your side, you might want to switch some things out till you find a balance for your playstyle. Good hunting!

Did anyone else notice that the sample screen about the new leagues indicated on the win screen Total Coins: 2 Gold, 41 Silver, 84 Copper. Not sure what to take from that. Makes you wonder if they are introducing changes there as well.

So since we are all running FIOS, are getting 5 ms Ping, have 200 MB/s up/down and are all in the house right beside ANet’s data center that does 1 internet hop between our rigs and the server, how does the dishonor system work with DCs?

Curious if there were more details out there and how the new system works when players are dropped and are able to get back into the match quick enough before the end of the game. Also if there was any coding to handle a drop at the very end of the game when there is no time to get back thru the authenticator and login process before end of match.

Say the one blog post but wasn’t certain if anyone saw more details posted out there yet.

And again, this is also another category that might help people that do not like things like the daily fractal. Since I do fracts and have a group I tend the other direction, but get their point. But instead of eliminating that from the people that like it, just give us more options to choose from, and of varying difficulty.

I do them but don’t think about doing them. They are more of a I am thinking about do some of this tonight, are there any additional tie-ins to things going on in the world that might piggyback on. What would people find fun to do based on the nightly moods.

One of the other threads was me. I too miss the bigger selection from the old system and wanted to see more options added. We seem to keep getting more and more restricted to make it “easier” on people. I don’t know if I agree that “easier” is equal to less to choose from.

We already have a carrot for these. Its called Achievements. No need to force players to rerun them when they already did it once.

How would an additional category “force” people to re-run these? Original intent on this is to open up additional options for people that might want additional daily goals and give people that might not like options in the existing three groups more options to choose from.

Note: I don’t have any issues with existing dailies except lack of variety but do know some people that have ones they won’t do at all. Not to mention the threads from people that don’t fractual and run into issues with double daily fractuals, which I admit I love when its an option, but know others do not.

This still wouldn’t be a requirement, since ANet already made the change on do just 3 dailies. So If you don’t have to do them, what’s up with issue if its a matter of just defining additional dailies in the pool of options? Or are the people against it just feel pressured that they didn’t do them all in a given day?

This is part of that temptation. What would tempt you into a jumping puzzle you have already completed? Also this is a good way to introduce players into content they might not do or haven’t done. I know a lot of people that still enjoy the dailies but miss the larger selection that had more variety. Give players some more challenging dailies and more variety and then those that wish to, have more options.

Would like to see an additional category added to the daily options that could be off beat options to keep things interesting. World Exploration. These might be considered items included in the other groups of dailies but play off of them and be of differing degrees of difficulty or be a mash ups of existing categories.

Examples:

  • Complete Troll’s Revenge jumping puzzle
  • Complete Demongrubb’s Pits jumping puzzle
  • Craft 10 Exotic Weapons
  • Visit Grot’s Point, Krait’s Ladder and Mudbay Digs in Kessex hills
  • Kill The Mossman or Bloomhunger in the Swampland Fractual
  • Complete Kessex Hills for Map Completion
  • Obtain One Exotic from the Mystic Forge
  • Kill 25 enemy players in SPvP
  • Play a rank/unrank SPvP game on Skyhammer
  • Kill 25 enemy players in WvW
  • Kill 50 Dredge in Eternal Battleground
  • Explore all 5 points on interest in the Alpine Borderlands
  • Explore Stonegaze Spire Reactor in EoTM
  • Gain 3 levels in PvE
  • Complete 1 level of a Mastery track
  • Gain 2 WvW ranks
  • Perform one Guild Bounty Capture
  • Run one Guild Rush
  • Find one point in a Guild Trek

These would include differing options for people to transverse the world that would include elements of PvE, PvP, WvW and progression in crafting, leveling and masteries.
This would also allow ANet further options in encouraging players to visit different aspects of the world.

This category would act like the others where 4 random options are pulled from a potential pool of options for players to choose from.

Would love to see Legendary armor actually. To the above points you could have the same stats as Ascended or go the extra effort and make a set that can also be changed on the fly. To me that would be worth the work. And I am not an Legendary chaser.

World Population Changes Are Coming

Looking at the MOS, T3 NA looks really really healthy now. GJ!

T3 NA increased populations have nothing to do with the changes however, It is due to all the GvG in T2 choosing to make T3 the new GvG tier prior to the changes in protest of a new alliance and attempt to move YB to T1. All of this was decided prior to the changes being announced, and not due to them. They will ensure that the new T3 GvG servers stay where they want them predetermining the winner every week to ensure they do not move up or drop down. The servers being taken over by the GvG guilds will now be the new GvG tier as it was in T2.

No offense to the lower tiers, but if these guilds are just looking for GvG, why not go lower like T5-T8 where there is plenty of room for fights, especially if they are not looking to score any points. As far as fixing the outcome for the week, yeah I don’t think most of the existing servers in those tiers would appreciate/accept that kind of behavior. That might make things ugly.

I understand that the salvage confirmation message was added at the request of some of the player base in the past. People were breaking down items they probably didn’t want to by accident. That said it would be a nice QoL option if that was setting that the player could set by rarity under their options. That way if people we breaking down rares or exotics in mass they could toggle it off, do their salvaging and then toggle it back on afterwards. Appreciate your consideration.

Nope this one isn’t about auto-salvaging blue and greens, this is about gold huffs, gear sprockets and all the items that are labeled in game as junk.

Back to Rauderi’s point about being able to exchange them to another type of currency. If you are thinking something like the Silverwaste concepts that could work in this concept as well. That also adds in another RNG which has its own pros and cons but could work.

With a fixed extra value for 1-2 pieces maybe not, the third piece and up yes. If the RNG price factor is coded in as well then the first piece might also pay for the WP cost. That’s one of the reasons for the additional storage options if possible. Another thought I forgot to add in was that this would also play well with the trash collector achievement.

So lets face it, junk loot is a filler that we get just so we know that we might have received something versus a player ending up with nothing during an encounter. Yes we have the option to sell it off to any vendor and the sell junk button is awesome but I don’t think anyone is excited about junk loot.

So how about putting a spin on it and take a page from the Skritt’s handbook that shinny is good. So image that the various junk loot items have more value to some NPCs over another. Someone’s trash is another’s treasure per say.

Either take existing NPCs that are roamers in the world (or new ones) and turn them into travelling vendors for differing pieces of junk. The junk loot’s description could give the clue of which zone the NPC roams in that the player might sell the item to for increased value. Different items different world zones. You could add additional RNG spin and allow the NPC to offer differing amount for the item based on an RNG roll with mins and maxes.

What this does is still allow people to just sell junk loot at its current value. Or spend some time and do a mini bounty style hunt to find NPCs that might give them more back for that stack of junk. Its also encourages people to visit various places around the world if they so choose.

Now if junk was also added to the materials tab this would be even better so that players could amass the items and then choose a time to seek out the NPCs at their own pace without compromising to much bag space. But even if this extra bit wasn’t viable I still could see some fun in the before mentioned bit.

Just a thought while getting junk loot last night. Thoughts? Good hunting!

Working around you working around saying what you are referring to. It sounds more like a documentation issue which seems to be low on the priority list of fixes. If said whatever has been acting the same for 3 years then odds are it is not a bug just not labeled correctly. Some players will read everything and then decide whether to use something, some will just try things and use what they like. Aka a group of people might be using/doing whatever you are referring to because they have found its consequence as favorable.

And that is why I only do key runs to get scraps/tickets. It doesn’t burn near as bad to get a crafting booster, a repair kit and a dye I already have.

A wiser person then most of us….

Course the account bound mini that you already have 10 of is another ouch. Remember if you plan on gambling plan on losing and you can only be pleasantly surprised.

If these had to come back, I admit I would have preferred to see them come back at 7-10 full tickets. Don’t have any, but to retain their value it would have been better to see them value them closer to their market value so that people that did have them would not feel like their value was decreased. I like that there are limited time items in game even when I don’t have them either. It shows value over time.

I like how everyone automatically assumes they do no QA, or very little QA work on their patches.

People, kitten happens. Environments are not always 100% the same (even when they are supposed to be). The project I just came off of had 4 environments, including prod (dev, test, prod like (supposed to be an exact duplicate of prod down to the data), and prod). There were several releases where everything tested perfectly in test and prod like, then hit prod and went to kitten. And our QA’s had 100s of test scenarios, including regression. Gotta love development….

I’m in software development myself, so I gotta say this. Your team is pretty kitten

Lol, then I guess every team and every company I’ve worked for must be kitten, because this aint the first time I’ve seen these issues in the 8 or so years that I’ve been doing development.

Granted it probably wouldn’t have been anywhere near as bad if we had control over the servers, the tech being used or any real decisions in general, but we’re just contracted out. XD

With you, 20th year in SD now. There’s some small companies/groups out there that also have deployment issues, say people like Microsoft, Oracle, US Government (and more). So I think I will give ANet a bit of slack for now. Not to mention people fail to realize they are doing this while we are up and running. They are not dropping the servers during this time so that’s extra complication. Also played other games and these updates run smooth compared to those where the server would be down for a day as they deployed and then had to fix bugs offline. But each to their own…Good hunting!

So considering the new borderlands maps contains keeps of 3 of the 4 elements (not in beta so maybe missed details on 4th) any word on whether or not a water keep was planned for? Talking with others there is mixed thoughts about re-introducing a reason for underwater combat in WvW. Would be interesting to have a keep that is completely submerged.

Gift of Quartz? Not sure if I mis-understood you. If you missed this home node at the festival you can pick up one from the laurel vendor in LA I believe.

  • PPK + PPT and remove multiple rally option week.
  • PPK + PPT week where sentries (1) and supply camps (2) provide PPT as well.
  • EOTM week where EOTM map replaces borderlands map(s) for the week.

This is another for the Black Lion Chests. Permanent Asuran Waypoint Contract. Allows holder to pay zero tolls on all Waypoints. Rarity – inline with other Permanent Items like Bank Access. Trade-able like other Permanent Items. Potentially also a temporary version of it as well that has limited uses that is still on the rare drop side.

I admit we have not gotten more information on masteries yet, but in the meantime it would be nice if we were once again able to receive an additional spirit shard each time we re-reach level 80 the way we used to get skill points. The reason I say this that it still left a lot of us the feeling that we were progressing still even though we had capped out.

One statistic I would love to see is how many players list buy orders or sell orders versus those that sell to the highest buy order or buy what they need immediately. Without that I am not certain that the causal player deals with buy orders or place sell orders that much, therefore its the traders that are driving the value of items that players farm down in value.

We do live in the microwave age where people don’t even have time for 24-hour banking. I base this opinion off of fellow players. I know others that will spend 40+ hours in game but don’t work with the TP outside of buying directly what they need or selling to the highest bidder. IMO if people spending that much time in game follow that route, odds are high a more casual player will act similar.

Could be wrong, but likewise agree sometimes its better to deal with the devil you know. Good hunting!

Concur with some of the above. They did listen, they allowed players to select the game modes that people wanted to play. And though I do not like the Courtyard map that much it would be nice to see TDM as a separate queue toggle as well. That way people can target game modes that fit their mood at the time.

Need to get a Kylo match tonight. One issue that took me a while to wrap a tired mind around was getting caught up in the treb. Would try to drop it when an attacker moved in a would get stuck. I think the treb on Kylo allows a player to pass through it where as the treb in Stronghold is solid and a player can get caught up in the bracing bars of its stand.
