14 pages of complaints because people don’t want to do a few hero challenges to get new skills… I’m perplexed.

It doesn’t take years to do 40 hero challenges, not months, not weeks, maybe a couple days.

If you gave people everything day 1 they would complain, all that and that’s all we got? It’s amazing. Have 14 toons and map completion done on only 1. Not seeing this as that big of deal. But I admit I like to have goals to work towards. Actually prefer we don’t get bombed by everyone converting to elite specs since it will allow time for bugs and balance as we go. Now time will tell how closely packed the HPs are but it sounds like we have plenty of them. Add in the existing HPs from the existing areas and however they are going to work the WvW if they are recursive and it will add up fast. But on the forums, the sky is falling every day! Could be wrong as well, but this close to go date, lets see what we think in 3 days.

What to Do When Vs a Full Premade

Queue solo some everyday in ranked. Good way to wind down the evening. If you get what you believe to be a full pre-made use it as challenge. If you think you are going to lose you have nothing to worry about anyway since you already lost in your own mind. Just play. On the flip side, there is a big difference in a pre-made and group of people queing together. Sure they might have better comms, they could also all be completed wasted and out for a laugh, or it could be a bring whatever you want group. Not the same as players bringing builds and classes that compliment each other.

They really need to explain now how we can avoid having to grind out the same Hero Points path on all of our PvE characters, and how this is alt-friendly at all. It sounds like WvW might be getting the better end of the deal now, if these Scrolls of Heroics are account bound instead of character bound, which I’m guessing they are. If so, is there going to be any equivalent way to swap PvE Hero Points between characters?

I think we translated this differently. WvW are account bound, you can buy the scroll but then the hero point will be applied to the individual character that it is used on. So yes its account bound, until used. But we will see soonish.

too much negativity

There is no guaranteed way to counter negativity. Anything you try may not work in the end. What you can try is being positive. If you felt it was a good game, tell them. If your teammates did well, tell them in team. Try and keep it fun and sometimes it spreads. This is a game after all. Ironic that people feel that their life is in danger and they must rage when their e-life is eliminated. Its competitive so you can expect some emotions but some people really do like to rage. Its easy and then its no longer their fault and people love to pass blame. There is a difference between bantering/ smacktalking and raging. The first set you can expect and need to deal with, the latter take action on and is uncalled for.

Other ways to counter is sometimes you have to turn off chat. What level depends on what’s going on. Turn of say, map and whisper. If’s it’s a mouth breather on your team block them or turn off your team. If possible go in with a group and have them on voice. sPvP can be fun, don’t let the ragers turn you away, its not worth your time. Good gaming to you!

Please speed up crafting

+1 to OP. End up stack up refining at times since you know you are going to be sitting doing nothing while you wait.

Other options:

  • Allow us to queue multiple crafts at the same time so that they process in mass
  • Allow us to craft in sPvP lobby as we wait for a match

Regretfully some of us are limited on the amount of data we can download in a given time period. For HoT’s launch will the files already have been downloaded via the previous updates that have been going on or are expecting a large download? Any information that could be shared would be appreciated so that people could plan if they do have limited data plans. Nothing worse then being excited about the expansion to find out that you can’t download it and therefore can’t even play. Appreciate the time. Good gaming!

@cbenner, was one of your group Silver Wasting while you were building the fractal group? Almost wonder if they accidentally joined your groups together while waiting and while you were doing your own LFG posting. Still will be watching for weirdness tonight when doing the same kind of taxi jobs and have had people merge groups by accident, but not while creating a new LFG post hence the question about it allowing a listing while already in a LFG group listing. Thanks all for the screen shots, this might help point out an issue in the tool.

Looking at both your screen shots it looks like the game bugged and joined both your LFGs together. You both look like you posted under two separate sections, I can see the Open World Content and the Fractals 1-9 section. Have to admit its cool you both have screens of the issue. Not a griefing issue. Was there a patch today?

What’s your LFG description? They might be joining thinking that you are doing something else. Taxi people in quite a bit and don’t run into this. Sometimes I might have people linger a little but they usually get the idea as the group fills and empties pretty quick.

How to save dungeons

So for those that prefer dungeons over fractals, why?

Is it the random draw bit or something else. With HoT they had talked about removing the whole having to run a 4 set fractal and allowing you to choose which ones you are doing so….it will be kind of like choosing which dungeon path.

Is it having to build up the AR then? Building up the AR is the same as re-running a dungeon path multiple times.

I can see the Ascended gear but also see a lot of Ascended drops in jewelry, armor and weapon as well. So if you start with the jewelry you can save some on the armor and weapon sets as you go depending on your MF and drop rates.

So what is it for you?

It will be great , indeed. I will be doing all of the Halloween stuff first. Then will jump into the expansion after Halloween is over. I am in no hurry with the expansion. I will enjoy it at my own pace.

BUT YAY HALLOWEEN. I have my costume on in game and ready to go!

Your philosophy is good only issue is that HoT is going to be like an old western land grab. There will be new markets and things opening up and opportunities that open and close in those first few weeks. In the same boat, love the Halloween event but wish it had started earlier this year to allow people to relax and enjoy both versus having to choose between them. But, it is what it is. Good gaming to you!

I would really like a way to vote to kick an inactive team member in spvp. A true 4v5 is crappy but still better than having 1 afk/rage quit while the rest attempt to win.

That’s a tough one. To go with something like this would you would need to have the game put the player up for a boot vote else it could too easily be used to troll a player or kick someone having a really bad game. But I like the concept. Also if you went with a player vote kick you would need to have a way for a player to dispute the kick and have some heavy penalties for abusing it if proven false. The simplist might be a report feature and enough reports creates a audit by a GM, but then you are making that someone’s job which is a whole different story for ANet.

The dishonor will help with the DC and don’t come back some. Evan shared the wiki on the code and he does have logic to handle short DCs which hopefully works. As far as improving ones internet connection, well as soon as one of us is able to take control of all the communication companies in the world and create a global government then we can come back and talk about the internet improvement issues.

Now how to improve the AFKers I am sitting in spawn people next.

They do need to remove the account bound portion of these minis. Been sitting on them in hopes they do and for the fact that just destroying an item acquired seems like a waste, even if the BLTC key was pure gamble.

As indicated by ANet they want to focus more on fractals and raids versus dungeons. Which in all but name are the same thing. If you think about it makes sense since they are not locked down with tieing the events directly into the storyline and have more flexibility in what they choose to create.

Now add in mistlock instabilities that change the working environment and you are left with something more fluid and interesting since the level of challenge changes and there is less “stack here for 10 seconds and 111111, stack there and guardians reflect in 5 seconds, now move 2 steps to the right..”.

Aka have to admit I appreciate the focus being moved to fractals over dungeons. In general they have different feel and the combat seems to be more interesting in one over the other though I can’t out my finger on the why of it.

Have seen this work rather well in other games and admit had pondered a similar thread over the last few weeks are more people are dropping out after they begin to lose. This would be a nice feature and even better if it could flag the player that came in as a replacement to ensure their team knows it was step in player. I can see some difficulty in the coding though in trying to determine a drop from someone changing toons.

Flippers are not the devil. If the game had only an option to list sell prices then there might be a chance of an issue. But since the TP has the option to list buy prices, prices tend to drive back down. Its up to the player to judge the value of something, else they have the ability to go acquire the item themselves. If you think the sell prices are too high, place your own buy orders and wait for them to fill as you try and get the item yourself. Ironically there is no penalty to undervalue an item in game but there is one to try and overvalue it. If a seller or flipper makes a bad call and need to relist their items then they lose.

Short answer there is already a check and balance in place and it works. -1 here to account bounding items, actually would prefer to see less items bound. If someone has an item I would like and they are willing to sell it why not, or the inverse, if I have stuff I am not interested in why is my only option in destroying it.

10 days, it will go by rather quickly. I appreciate the heads up from ANet saying they are expecting things to change up some. But what we don’t have is the data and analysis that they have so…..maybe relax and don’t put all your investments in one basket, kind of the same way you shouldn’t be in real life either. Breathe people, the world will go on. Some things will go up in value, and some things down. Ask yourself if you know something is overvalued now and plan for that. And if you are that worried, cash aka gold is king.

Anyhow, thanks for pointing out its tradable on TP, I thought it was tradable for gold. Though it is kinda … not right that “glory” can be bought with gold. Personally i will probably earn it rather buying though. Wonder if rewards will be retroactive.

Check the main website pages on the changes to PvP, the source is there. But that said they indicated that the new currency will be added to the reward tracks. So I wouldn’t bet on the retroactive part as of the information so far released. Hope that helps. And don’t get me wrong, there are a mixed lot in pvp. PvP is a blast most times and going in with a group only makes it better, plus you can also just turn off chat when mouthbreathers show up.

People constantly make the claim that sPvP is toxic. I’ve yet to experience any toxicity in it. That’s a little over 1k Unranked games.

It can be quite toxic in ranked. A majority of people are silent, the next largest grouping are the trash talkers (somewhat expected), followed by the toxic, followed by the good sports. Sadly, people are quick to blame others for their own failings in sPvP. And since their lives are dependent on a game which is meant to entertain…..oh wait.

Having these items trade-able makes complete sense and allows players that might not participate in these activities a venue to acquire the material they may need via a common currency (gold) that all game modes produce. +1 on that approach here.

I am still holding onto hope that we will be seeing a version of reward tracks with WvW like there are in sPvP. This would allow ANet to provide WvWers with the new currencies and access to some of the existing tracks if they do not sPvP. I do both but I know others that prefer one game mode over the other and this would give them more options. +1 here.

Yes; Maybe not one you can spam over and over but something like ‘this track can be activated again in 30 days after it is completed.’

Call it ‘Black Lion Track’, have it award key in the end, with ‘track reward steps’ being random loot boxes that each contain one black lion ‘loot roll’ without need for a key.

30 days is too long.
7 days is fair. same as PvE.

A 7 day repeatable track would fit inline with the changes to the story line. +1 here.

A chest with a choice would be the ideal situation. Personally I hate seeing transmutation charges but I have 3K of them myself so this was a good fit. That said I can see others points especially with the removal of key runs that the ToK were fueling so a choice would be a very good fit in the situation.

New finisher concern, particle effect clutter

Agree with the OP and don’t want to discredit someones hard work on this task, but it is something to consider if not on this finisher but future ones. The new finisher does use up quite a bit of screen real estate that might make seeing what is going on around a group of downed people much more difficult. Possibly reducing the over all model some or moving it slightly higher off the ground might aid in this. In some cases this might not be an issue but in others such as a group of downed people on both sides this might make the difference in a fight if you trigger the wrong ability because you could not see what was going on.

I still have not heard one valid argument for why condi cleanse should not clear the most damaging condi first.

You already answered your own question. The main argument to leaving condition clear alone is that a more skilled player will mask the condition that they want to leave in place by layering in other conditions so that the one they want to hit with is more protected from cleanses. ANet’s is pitching more skillful play. Your change would be counter to their new initiative.

I am not addressing burning, just the change concept to condition cleansing.

There are only 5 pieces in the collection. If the price was 1 ticket then when you completed the collection you would be rewarded with 5 full tickets 100% refunding your purchase and allowing you to keep the skins. I am actually surprised these were not 3 tickets each to be truthful.

Appreciate the update. Yeah trying the changes the pistols are still really subpar at best. Will hope for more changes in the future and will go back to waiting and enjoying the other classes until another pistol rework.

Uncommon Drops is looking all right.
-Revive Orb (Remove)
-Black Lion Salvage Kit (Remove. Edit – And add into game. With ascended soon to be salvageable it would be reasonable to find this other than via gems.)

Revive Orbs are pretty useful in fractals and might have a serious use in raids so would be careful there. The issue with the BLSKs are they don’t stack and are not trade-able.
If one or the other changed then they would be in really good shape.

I would love it if they removed [Teleport to Friend] and instead added a permanent version that is extremely rare and able to sell on Trading Post.

These are fine to leave in. Posted this in another thread a while back but would also like to see a Permanent Asuran Waypoint Pass that is ultra rare and tradeable that removes the cost to use waypoints for the toon in possession of the item.

If I was the OP I would be irritated with the people that are devaluing them. Just checked and people are selling them for way less them it would have cost to buy them via gold to gem conversion. If the market had priced them inline with the cost they had been while in the gem store it wouldn’t be so bad. I admit this move has me questioning buying any other finishers directly though the gem store since we now know the player base will undersell them if they are in the chests.

Leave the gambling to the gamblers, pick up the skins from the TP and save yourself the issue. The best TP prices are normally a day after they are available up to three weeks after initial release. After that they my start to rise once the availability ends or the skin goes to 3 tickets.

Stronghold PvP Feedback

As stated above I played both solo and with varying team sizes. I would leave the ability for people to queue for it as it is now. It is even more challenging to play it when queuing solo but that allows for people to practice their own roles and to experience a wide range of potential situations that they can then take back to their team play. I am working under the assumption that match making will continue to do what its doing to build team makeups when queuing in less than 5’s.

Runes and Legendary Armor

At some point there will probably be Legendary Runes/Sigils. The question should be how do these items impact game play/replay-ability and supply/demand. Too easy and people achieve it and are done and run out of goals.

You don’t want to devalue superior items even further and you want it to tie into the player’s acquiring items in game and doing things in game so what’s your target player’s ROI on crafting a set versus replacing them in sets.

One way to do that would be to require ‘x’ amount of existing runes plus other materials to create 1 of these Legendary ones. So for example ‘x’ Superior Runes of Strength plus ‘x’ Ectos plus ‘x’ Spirit Shards plus ‘x’ Deldrimor/SpiritWood equals 1 Legendary Sigil. Armor would require Elonian/Damask materials.

To me this should be costly considering the benefit to the player. Something that is Legendary should be costly in time and materials. Yet it is not overpowered since players can go the existing route and swap runes/sigils if they choose at a more incremental cost.

If you are determined to take a day off, take the following Monday (10/26) off, not patch day. That way you are not disappointed that part of your day might have been spent just waiting.

Is there any chance of there being a separate stronghold queue? I’ve been off pvp for a while and recently returned to my first stronghold match.
I’m not too much a fan of pve in pvp nor this lame attempt at being a moba.
Still I glanced over this very thread to see how stronghold worked and it was very disappointing to see all you had to do was rush the lord. This game mode doesn’t even required pvp, it’s so sad…
I’d rather grind my brain to dust in conq all day than to play stronghold, at all.

You missed the check boxes in the Play screen. Default for weekend was Stronghold on and Conquest off. Also sadly this was necro thread from all the betas. Out of three days saw only 1 attempt at rush the lord at start work and that was due to some new people that had never played the map against people that had. A single defender was still often able to hold multiple people off, and I don’t think a lot of people have started running stronghold specialized builds yet either.
