Anyway, here’s hoping to Guild Halls helping people out.
The arena in guild halls is too small for GvGs. If Anet would care about their GvG community, they would have implemented a real GvG. So stop hoping and try to get along with them.
We don’t know the exact size yet. I am agreeing that based on the filmed bits they have shown us it might to on the small side, but now is also a good time to make sure the point is pressed that a bigger space would not be a bad idea.
De Mortuis Nil Nisi Bonum.
@ANet, please note this thread. Guild Halls really should be large enough to allow for this kind of thing. This would also allow guilds from different tiers to engage and enjoy the game the way that they like as well and be able to enjoy contests against a varied group of opponents from different levels.
@OP, if a group becomes abusive while they are enjoying the content they want report them, that’s abuse and griefing both of which are against CoC. Abusing your own server mates is idiotic and just builds ill will and creates a really nasty environment that just end up killing games.
Can see both sides as others have above. GvG just want to have fun, but when they are also not aiding their side and if they have blocked others from joining a map that needs assistance that’s when it’s an issue. Having abusive members on top of that doesn’t help situations. Its pretty lazy not to take that kind of thing to somewhere like EoTM at those times where its really easy to taxi people in. At off times or in lower tiers it doesn’t matter as much.
Anyway, here’s hoping to Guild Halls helping people out.

Quickness abilities and traits, most classes have a form of it.

1. When 2 objective focused teams are going against each other, they just skip the fighting entirely and go straight for the lord. The matches were over within around 1.5 min, literally. And of course, there was very little or no PvP, on a supposed PvP map. I had several matches like this.
This in itself is just extremely wrong and needs to be redesigned so that fights are unavoidable at some stages of the map, regardless if teams are objective or fight focused.
2 Objective focused teams, translation no defenders? I ask since I had no games move that fast this time around. I did run into a few matches where there were full team pushes in the beginning but they died to 1 defender manning the treb. Makes you wonder if the Skritt should pull a lemming mechanic and all explode once a gate in the lane goes down forcing players to re-summon.
De Mortuis Nil Nisi Bonum.
- Trebuchet Auto-Repair Now that enemies past the outer gate drop supply, I don’t see a reason for this.
Have to disagree, played a couple of matches where the returned treb was used to repel attacks made after the outer was down and the open gate was used as a choke point for the fight, as well as times to control mist essences until reinforcements arrived. Knowing that it would respawn made players decide do they take it down while not in use or leave it till it is a threat. If it never repaired then a static tactic would be destroy it first and remove the question which remove some of the ebb and flow of the fight.
De Mortuis Nil Nisi Bonum.
Tl;dr version:
• Bolster outer gate guards
• Team score breakdowns at end of match
• Bolster archers (speed/damage mechanic)
• Add/adjust Lord room guards
Played ranked Stronghold over the 3 days with a mix of solo, and 2-5 people groups. Map seemed to favor teams that split up some so that was a positive.
A lot of feedback from players was that you had to pay attention to what was going on which is even better since the game was very fluid. Still seeing a lot of fighting at different objectives. Choosing when to chase and when to fade was big part of the strategy of this map. Pulling multiple enemies around the map was a good tactic to take them out of play and allow your team to power play else where.
PUG Stronghold remains the toughest since people don’t communicate. On the PUG matches even simple starting plans could play a large difference. Even in all the PUG maps saw zero matches that ended by a full team rush at the gate at the start of the match. Saw vast improvement in PUG games as the weekend went on though so some of this might be map mechanic still as players adjust to the game type.
Most players on average were able to take 2 treb shots at the gate before they were down. Treb power seems to be in line. The treb feet were still something that you could not run across unlike the feet in Kylo so getting tied up in them was an issue. Would make more sense to have both trebs’ physical form act the same way. Either both be objects to dodge or be able to pass thru, the differences could catch you off guard going between game modes and maps. Visually difference appears to be the amount of group that the feet are dug into the terrain.
Still saw a lot of people that got into the match and after the match started would see, wait what is this map. I think the fact that Stronghold being checked by default caught people off. The loading screen instructions are fine though I think people don’t stop and read so that’s more of a player issue.
Defense guards along the path seemed to be targeting bombers first so that change looked good. Leashing distances looked good as well. Say the archers stray off track a few times and would visit the treb but that was mostly after gate guards were dead so that seemed appropriate.
Lord room defense was better but still manageable by a single players to defeat the room solo if they didn’t agro the entire room. Did see a lot of people wipe on it as well though and one defending player was able to hold 2-4 depending on the builds being used. Points to consider, add two more ranged guards that wait on the inside of each side of the door to engage players trying to rush. Add more group agro that triggers Lord and all guards to attack. The bolo style pulls are a plus so additional CC by guards would also make the Lord more formidable. Defending at times one good strategy was to knock a player into the Lord’s range where the defenders then wiped them.
There was also some change to the Lord’s room that removed a lag spike that occurred on entering the enemy Lord’s room that was noticeable last beta, not sure what that change was but it was appreciated.
On the offensive side. Supply drop rate seemed improved, seeing less issues of depot empty. Outer gate guards were easily manageable by players, could use some bolstering to match the inner guards. Bombers seemed in a good shape considering their job role.
Archers are a mixed bag. Saw them easily take out all gate guards when they were left alone to their job. In one game side I was on was winning and all the fighting was in the other team’s Lord room. A single player on the other side was able to send two archers solo. During all the fighting the two archers had cleared all of my teams’ inner guards and were half way thru the inner door which might have allowed a breach if they hadn’t been cleared allowing the other team a win if the defeated the room.
Archers to players they were a limited threat. Did see the archers get some dropping shots on players but that was more the players ignoring them and already low on health. Potentially further increase their travel rate and power so that they are still a distraction but more of a threat. Still wouldn’t mind seeing them gain a mechanic such as slow, poison, bleed or a combination of those on every 3 shot if they are not bolstered in other ways.
Inner gate guards doing CC was a good touch, players just avoiding them were caught off guard at times and delayed allowing defending players to engage.
Mist heroes seemed to be in a good state, except double summoned Nika’s allowed the heroes to steal each other. That seemed off since two of any other hero did not seem to combo in that way. Grymm’s intro cannon shot on summon also seemed to be diminished this time around.
PvP fights. Saw a lot while defending and at mist essence. Lighter around supply areas and a good number once an outer gate was down. End of game stats still vanish too quick to get good numbers on how the score broke down, wouldn’t mind seeing this at the team level so that people know how the game was won if it wasn’t from Lord kill.
Saw a spread on game wins, some from close scores, some blowouts, some Lord kills some timed so if that is the target it was meet. Still unclear at times how a team won during a non-Lord kill victory so more breakdowns would not hurt.

I was too busy playing the map the last 3 days to even check the forums yet. Yes was seeing a good number of people playing it. Started missing it after the beta was over yesterday, Conquest felt easy by comparison.
De Mortuis Nil Nisi Bonum.
We can hope not. If it does then that is a sign that ANet made the process to craft a precursor way to easy and they missed the mark. I have never had one drop yet but that’s most of the fun, knowing that there is something of value in the loot tables versus, oh look another ‘x’. You never want to bored with loot drops since its one the factors outside of the fun that keep players playing. The crafting of the precursors should be on scale to the existing drop rate and you want the drops to continue so that people can achieve this goal in multiple ways.

Had 7 of us try the new specialization for the warrior. The overlap of the F1 and F2 was the first comment out of each that was a major problem. That comment was the same if they loved or disliked the class so it wasn’t an issue of just the people that did not prefer the class. Please adjust the UI and make these distinct. For the people that actually click versus keybind it was even worse.

Funny fact: legendary gear does not make you stronger than anyone with ascended (far faaaaar easier to craft).
Lol I’m sure most are aware it has the same states as ascended. That’s not the point though.
What is it, then? Legendary armor having kittening awesome-looking skins and make you like a living big bang of particles? Or is it the facility of stat-swapping, despite swapping ascended stats requiring only an exotic insignia rather than a much more costly ascended insignia?
It’s obviously optional. Just like original legendary weapons, only the acquisition will require something more than raw material farming in Silverwastes/dungeons.
So, your in WvW running a havoc squad and you are now rejoining your zerg since they are going to assault StoneMist and you can see its fully defended. or Your in the middle of a fractal and you need to change things up since you just hit a boss people are not geared for or you lost a member and are now 4 manning it. How do I get to the mystic forge and switch things up?
So your options are craft ‘x’ of ascended sets or have this one. For people that are going to target high end gear, this is the target. Optional, yes you can do some of this in other gear, but not as well.
De Mortuis Nil Nisi Bonum.
Funny fact: legendary gear does not make you stronger than anyone with ascended (far faaaaar easier to craft).
That’s a red herring. Comparing one set to one set yes, but it is when you consider all sets to one set then its a different story. For players that play meta and never change their build then your right. For people that change their builds more often it quickly becomes better gear. And it sounds like they are listening and working towards giving us more challenges where meta will fail. So flexibility will become even more important then it is now.

Are you all ready for your once a week chance for a random piece of legendary armour?
Once a week if you complete the instance, you two could have a one in a million chance of getting one of eighteen pieces of armour, which may or may not be one you’ve already picked up, or completely the wrong weight for your main!
But don’t worry even if you don’t get the armour, you too can take home a wonderful once a week prize of two yellows and a green!
Um, actually no, working under the assumption until we get more details that we will be working on the mats for the Precursor armor and then will be crafting the Legendary armor from there. Precursor armor might be a ultra rare drop like the weapons are. But no, wasn’t picture that this is going to just drop ready to use armor at all. I am expecting this to be the same if not more of a process that we do today. This stuff shouldn’t just be like finding a yellow.
De Mortuis Nil Nisi Bonum.
Ascended was introduced through fractals and later acquirable through other methods. I expect legendary armor and backpacks to follow the same route, only with different skins since the skins rather than the stats are a much bigger part of legendaries.
I doubt they want to cut non-raiders off from the very option od acquiring the functionality of legendaries. Though I’m absolutely certain they want to cut non-raiders off from getting the specific look of raid legendaires (and in my opinion this is the right move)
Agree. As I said part of this might be because of the bite sized information they are releasing.
De Mortuis Nil Nisi Bonum.
Actually, what they said was it’s the only way to obtain the Legendary Raid armor set.
Actually no, re-read the blog.
“Secondly, raids will introduce the very first ever set of legendary armor. This isn’t any ordinary armor set! Similarly to legendary weapons, you’ll be able to change the stats that the armor provides. When entering combat, you’ll become a beacon of your heroic deeds as the armor set comes to life, animating around you. Only the bravest of heroes will be able to collect and craft these legendary threads.”
Now granted this article isn’t covering other aspects of the release so we are working on limited information. The point stands though that if its the single source of the best gear then we do have a gear grind going on. And yes I am one of those saying this is superior gear since it includes any stat combo you could want without the price of mats, gold, karma, time and everything else that acquiring each of those stat sets separately would cost let alone require to store when not in use. And again, was planning on raiding anyway but since its not just a skin, that’s the issue if Legendaries’ materials can not be acquired elsewhere as well.
“Very first”
not
“only”
Agree about first which is what is creating this issue, first does not mean only but until a second way is announced it is the only way. The funny part is I want these armor sets to be annoying to get and require a lot of game resources to craft, they are Legendary after all, but I still want people doing different parts of the game tough ways to get them too since they are useful outside of the raids. This isn’t like Agony resistance where you only need it in one spot of the game like fractals. This armor comes into play in WvW, Fractals, Raids and others. If it was only a skin, then no worries, but its not.
De Mortuis Nil Nisi Bonum.
And again, hopefully the follow up post isn’t far down the road with more details. Downside to these bite sized bits is limited information can lead to false assumptions.

Raid lock out timers….checkWhy hello WoW, nice to see you again….
Now, before someone blows up at me, let me clarify. I have no issue with raids having its own set of unique rewards, including a legendary gear set. I am; however, peeved that raiding is the only way to obtain a legendary gear set. Anet is essentially saying “Don’t like raiding? Too bad. Do it, or you’ll never finish your legendary collection.” This is very different than raids having a unique skin set locked to them.
Unless you can change the runes on them without destroying the previous rune set, then it will be just like legendary weapons, treated pretty much like skins for most players.
And they may add a second set of legendary armor in the future that’s tied to different content. Who knows. We also don’t know how hard raids will really be, especially 6 months to a year later after players have had a chance to provide feedback on how easy/hard it is.
All but a few runes are overall really cheap, especially when you compare them to the cost of crafting additional full ascended sets of gear. And a lot of them work with differing stat setups.

This is a bit concerning. Will be doing the raids in any case but there needs to be other challenging ways to obtain mats for these items or these need to be trade-able. Where are the Legendary mats for the WvWers or PvPers? Now granted lets see what the other blog posts have as well. But if this is the only way, this would make this required content. Let’s face it, you make 12 sets of ascended gear to lug around or you have one armor set on a toon. This is superior gear lets not fool ourselves on that. The unique titles, skins, minis, achievements and all make sense and are fine.

Did they deliberately and in full knowledge take the instance and complete the path ignoring the wishes of the lfg poster? Thats griefing him!!!! Which falls under LFG abuse, and if anet decides to ban for that offense, then it can be bannable.
Was it behaviour that can be reported and punished? Yes. Will anet prioritize it over other things? Idk, report it and find out.
No its not. Your definition would mean anyone joining a group and not killing every creature is bannable since the poster said full clear. Or the player stacking needs the axe when the description said no stacking. They didn’t prevent the OP from doing the dungeon, if anything they helped them finish it. And remember abusing the report feature is also a bannable offense. You are taking the time from a GM from helping someone that might really need help.
De Mortuis Nil Nisi Bonum.
Ironically I am all about supporting players making coin in game via alternate routes such as TP flipping, crafting and selling Legendaries, key farming and so fourth. I am also fine with people looking for tips though I have never done so.
That said I think the policy that using the LFG tool to sell spots in parties gives the wrong impression. The ruling was already made that it shouldn’t be used to sell items or sell access to people’s individual home instances but its ok with selling a spot in a group for a dungeon, fractal or achievement. That’s a really thin dividing line as is. It also create ill will since its original intent was help gather people together to do something. The more you see all the groups are pay me to join I think the less you will see people use it. It can also creates an environment where new players will think ok so I need gold to be able to join a group. It also distracts from people really looking to group together to do something. Add in the potential impact on Raids and we could soon see “Selling Raid 100 Gold” which kind of defeats the goal of “challenging” content. Not completely opposed to people doing this, but not in the LFG tool at least.
If it does remain a policy then can we add a selling section to the LFG interface and have people advertise there to keep the open parties open? Might also consider going back to allowing people to sell other services or goods there as well if this continues to be the policy.

So running fractals with the guild last night and we were side tracked discussing the Twisted Marionette event that a guildy did not get a chance to experience since they were not in the game at that time period and how much fun it had been.
This lead into the thought that a downsized version of this would be an awesome fractal. You have 5 people for the 5 lanes, add in some NPCs that can aid on each platform and act as the memory segment of the fractal to make it match the normal theme of it and you can now allow people to replay a version of that content.
Just a thought about reusing some content that would also allow parts of the LS that were missed to be partially played through. Good hunting!

When you run the Zerg you can control the ppt you get. To a certain extent. T3 likes to think if itself as the fight tier.
T3 was in a nice spot where you could find a mix of things in WvW. Looking to zerg, we had that. Looking to solo, you can do that, looking to PPT, yup. Looking to fight, yup. Not looking for complete queues, ok mostly. Looking for small group action, yup we have stuff for you. Want to Pug some, we can do that. No offense but hope that doesn’t change too much especially as we see how F2P affects things in the upcoming months and see how much population the new maps can support. But we shall see.
Side question to those that consider themselves fight guilds, are you planning on using Arenas?
De Mortuis Nil Nisi Bonum.
Always love those arguments:
PvEr – I am here to kill things
WvWer – I am here to take and kill things, killing NPCs is not killing things
GvGer – Why are you taking things, just kill players
PvPer (Conquest)- Why aren’t you peeps queued up in ranked already? That’s not skill you had better gear, get to fighting! Oh and cap home already they are ticking
PvPer (Deathmatch) – orly? What exactly do you all think you are doing again?
Forum Warrior – You are all wrong because I can type it and say so! So you are all deadz!
Evil trend. I do hope that guild halls do create a large enough area for the GvG people to have fun in but we all do find fun in different spots. We can also hope that they bring back a mix of PPT and PPK. Either way good hunting!

Each time this comes up: +1000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000
That or adjust the queuing process so that it finds its best possible match in 30 seconds and goes. The amount of time spent in queue over time is vast. I admit I don’t like map completion but would be rather happy doing it if I could do so while between queues waiting for the next match. This would be an awesome feature in HoT!
@EgyptRaider, concur if we had more to do in the mists or crafting stations that too would go a long way. You can only fuse with your banks and the TP for so long.

If possible it would be nice to have more time at the end of the game to review the scoreboard and get a feel for how you did so here are a couple of options to help players do that:
- Extend the end of the game event trigger that takes players out of thet match by an extra 30 seconds. Players can still select exit as normal if they do not wish to review it. Today we already get 1:30 to ready up, an extra 30 at the end does not seem out of line.
- Allow stat of last match to be reviewed after the player exits. I understand this is more complicated which is one of the potential reasons it is not in play currently.
- Grant all players retaliation(999 stacks) at end of the game so that fighting stops. I and a lot of people I know get distracted trying to take a look at game details as someone on the other side continues to beat on you as you stop to review the game statistical details before the game exits you.

In an ideal world, F2P is a separate channel that paid accounts can access to assist new players with but can also be turned off by as other channels can. That way you can keep F2P out of regular chats but still allow them to get information about the game and be helped.

How to get Legendary armor outside of raids?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: TheGrimm.5624
I hope the legendary skins rewarded from raids are only obtainable through raiding. I also hope that they release other legendary armor skins that are obtainable through other means.
They didn’t say skins here. Skins and functioning gear, especially with the way Legendaries can be adjusted on the fly are different. These lines in the blog conflicted. No gear grinds is exactly opposite of acquiring Legendaries. We need more information here.

I wouldn’t grant access to WvW. Level caps also would have been reasonable. I would also ask ANet to share details on the trading post. Whispers are another that is potentially are going to be an issue.
So in other words, you’re okay with free players existing…so long as they can’t actually play the game.
Do you WvW today? If so, what server?
I’m Devonas Rest, and no, I do not. I’m not sure if Devona’s even has a WvW community any more.
Why do you ask?
I think we are coming at this from different angles. I am ok with more access to PvE, but less to WvW. PvE is made to expand as needed as possible, WvW is not built that way. Therefore there is more impact there.

Wow, look at all those restrictions put in place just to be able to play for free.
If you have to lock the game up that much, why even bother?
Actually we need more restrictions.
Like what? Cut their xp gain in half? Completely block their ability to chat? Make it so they can’t loot anything at all?
If they have to add even more restrictions, then they need to scrap the F2P idea, entirely, because any more restrictions and the game will become punishing to play if you’re a free player.
We’re already entering into SWTOR territory. The only thing they haven’t locked away are the hide shoulder/helm/glove slots.

I’ve read the replies and the way I see this there is two problems
1. “Block” feature is not working as intended (blocked person still can see you online and “stalk” you). This needs to be fixed IMO.
2. Gold sellers spam from new accounts (presumably). At least every time they spam me they use Djhgjh character names and Hjhfgjhf.XXXX account names which makes me think that they are not stolen accounts, they are just new accounts used for mass-whispering. Maybe there is some way of limiting mass-whispering for newly-created accounts?
3. People whispering you that you do not want to receive whispers from. This could be people soliciting things, complaining that you killed them, making unwanted advances, trolls, people against you in WvW, people looking to con you.
De Mortuis Nil Nisi Bonum.
So, essentially what you are asking for is a way to have options like “Receive Whispers”:
- From All
- From Friends and Guild Members
- From Friends
- None
This seems like a reasonable feature request.
If Player A is on Player B’s friends list, but Player B isn’t on Player A’s friends list, how does that interaction work out?Would this also extend out to things like mail?
(Please note this does not mean that this will happen, won’t happen, is planned to happen, and or not planned to happen)
This really needs to be added. Especially depending on today’s announcements if they are what they might be. I would recommend changing the from Friends and Guild Members to an ‘or’ versus ‘and’. And then the friends only would have to be that both people have each other friend-ed.

Have to disagree w/ OP, food and utility buffs should allows be an option in WvW since it allows for more variety and build options depending on the type of action you might be getting into at the time. PvP is kept the way it is to allow them to try and skill balance, you will never be able to balance the battles in WvW and should not restrict character builds to attempt to do so. If anything I prefer MORE food and utility buff options for WvW.

All I can say OP is that there are tons of other dyes you can get for free. It’s a costly lesson, but I can see why Anet did this. The artificial scarcity of those dyes wasn’t really helping the game.
I have to disagree. The rarity is good for the game since it gives people goals to work towards and things to achieve. Not having things of value in the market I would counter is bad for the game since people then devalue the item and say, why bother it, why should I work to try and get it. Why not just go do something else. That’s the problem with any MMO, once you remove the goals people create for themselves the sooner they move on to other games.

+100, since a majority of items are trade-able from the chest please convert these over or please do not add anymore that are not. Likewise sitting on a good number of these hoping they will change one day versus just destroying them. I know others that would like them, allow people to trade them.

It has nothing to do with superiority and everything to do with feeling like you have been proportionately rewarded for the challenge. If you could get the same rewards for far less effort, no one would ever do the harder content.
I guarantee you that if the reward for completing the hardest fractals was 50g and not even an exclusive item we would be happy as clams, because then we’d feel as though our effort was proportionately rewarded. Whatever the reward may be, it should always be proportionately based on the difficulty of the content. An exclusive skin/item is a worthy substitute for gold so you won’t hear us complaining. But I could give a kitten less if anyone knew I completed that content, I just want to be properly rewarded for it, whatever that reward may be.
I have a feeling, though, that if the reward for high level fractals was simply lots of gold, that you guys would still be complaining how it isn’t fair….
Fractals are a great example. I didn’t do fractals till a few months ago. By skipping them I was choosing not to do them and therefore didn’t have access to their vendors. I was ok with this since I choose not to take on that challenge. Also ANet gave me alternate ways to access some of the items just in different forms. Simple example, I could acquire 20 slot bags via crafting, other events and other vendors. Same with ascended jewelry. I can get them from fractal vendors or from other vendors like WvW or laurels. Now when I am doing a high level fractal I do expect to have better odds of getting quality drops from them over drops from killing a random mob in Queensdale.
So do I expect ANet to have alternate ways to acquire new items of interest? Yes, they have done so in the past. Do I expect to work for them, I hope so. Do I think they will have some sort of cross this line or die content, no they are usually pretty good at inviting the players into content versus forcing them into it. Good gaming!
