Ye this has been a problem for years that we take 3x as much dmg from retaliation than anyone else

And some skills are meant to be power based, and some condi based. For instance Hammer is a power weapon it does no condi dmg. And pistols mainly do condi dmg even though they also do some power dmg, but it’s low especially if u run with condi gear on,
Pretty much, if you try to go berserker stats with pistols you will see it does scale very bad compared to rifle or hammer, becuase it was intended to be a condi weapon, the raw power damage is just a little bonus.

Nope it all depends whether you have gear with mainly power, or condi dmg. If you have power gear, it will increase the power dmg of that skill. And if u have condi dmg gear on it will increase the condi dmg of that skill, if it does condi dmg. So in general they are even it all depends on what gear you use.
Writing in this again, as it is still a big problem for me with this new update. The sound in the new cutscenes are still messed up. Please have a look into this, as it is ruining the otherwise really nice experience.
I’ve had that as well, and for me the sounds effects are lower than the dialogue too. Hope they can fix it, as it kinda ruins the otherwise nice cutscenes.
I don’t agree. If I bought the game and the expansion, I should have the whole game available to play and enjoy. I don’t agree that I have to get stuck with my few mastery points, just because I don’t logged every 2-3 months. Is this a buy to play or pay to win game?

I agree with this but I’ve never heard anyone complain about it so I thought it was just me.
All of the HoT cut scenes seem to be…lacking in the sound effect department; the voices are fine but effects like explosions and whatnot seem dulled down.
Exactly knew I wasn’t the only one. Hopefully A-net sees this post and maybe look into this
Actually no it’s not absurd. It’s to keep the players playing if only for once in a while. All you had to do was to log in every 2 weeks for 1 second. And you would unlock each episode for free, on your account. I think that’s quite fair for FREE content. It’s the same for LW season3 only it’s every 2-3 months.
Hi there since the launch of HoT and now the first episode of LWS3 in every cutscene for me, the sound effects (like the big awesome explosion of the bloodstone) have been drastically lower than dialogue and music. Not sure why it is all of a sudden. Been trying to fix it by restoring to default settings, playing the sound through other sources, even did a clean reinstall of the game. It’s still the same. Anyone having the same issues? any help or advice would be much appreciated
That’s not gonna solve the fundamental problem which is the AI for the gyro’s is broken/ bugged in so many ways. And that some of the gyro’s are severely underwhelming. The function gyro being one of them. They have to be reworked in some way, to not rely so heavily on the AI. But that seems unlikely
Agree The fact that there is so much delay on the leaps especially after the third, plus the fact that you evade for 1 sec but the skill lasts for 1. 3/4 of a sec makes gap closing and evading feel clunky and unrealiable. Would love to see this skill last for 1 sec so you evade during the entire skill, just like the revenants evade skills. And the delay for each jumps be removed so we have a reliable gap closer.
well I didn’t mean to offend the guy, I was trying to help. But you have to admit if you are having trouble killing mobs, when using the hammer. Then it’s obvious you don’t know how to use it properly, hence the L2P it just means he needs more time to get a hang of it. And get a hang of his build.
one big thing, your doing wrong is using all the gyro’s. Engies are meant to have at least 1 kit preferably 2 in their skill set. Plus in this new content some more support defensive stuff condi cleanse, Block, blinds etc. is really important I myself have no trouble with the scrapper, and the hammer has so many defensive skills and good cc, it should be no problem taking down the enemies. It’s just a matter of using what you’ve got and find a proper rotation on how to deal with different enemies.
Plus I would take alchemy or tools over inventions in PVE.
To me it seems mostly like a L2P issue, but GL and don’t mix condi with hammer since it’s got no condi dmg at all. If you go hammer you go power.
I would like that as well, kinda hard to know when you are evading or not. So it’s difficult to time it when fighting. Plus the gap closing is still not effective enough imo, still too slow aftercasts.

Exactly everyone one i Know and myself included ofc. LOVE the xpac it’s all i’ve wanted hard content, harder more intelligent mobs. Great story, and progression that’s gonna take time, not just hand us everything at once make us play for it and then be rewarded.
And to All the QQ’ers about it being grind and stuff. Just be quiet your ruining it for all of us who likes the change to the game. And actually want to play the game and work towards something

don’t take the QQ posts serious or as a proof that the majority feels the same way as them. I personally LOVE this expac, it’s the best thing that has happened to GW2, so stop your whinig and start playing the game that’s what it’s for. Or don’t play it if that’s what you feel like.
To me complaining about the fact, that you have to play the game in order to progress is so hypocritical. When all we’ve asked for these years were end game progression, and character progression, and now that they are giving them to us, you complain. What’s the next thing gonna be, you start complaining about the golden city being to gold? or the jungle is too green, and that you need a guide to hold your hand

- Gyros’s CD starts after they die, not when summoned as promised
– They still can’t keep up with just basic movement
– They still attack random foes, and blast gyro doesn’t hit it’s targeted enemy if another foe is on front.
And the hammer 3 as mentioned by others still have some serious issues with closing gaps because of slow aftercasts, and u don’t evade all the time during it’s duration.
- Plus I think my gyro’s take normal dmg from aoe attacks and dies instantly even though it should be reduced by 95% like other ai minions. But I haven’t tested it yet.
It seems like the Gyro’s have had NO changes at all they are just as bad and useless as in the Beta’s (sigh)
Ok as a main Engi I guess i’ll post my feedback of the scrapper as well.
Hammer:
- Electro whirl. very cool and effective skill nothing to say here, it just works wonders.
- Rocket Charge seems to be a nice skill. However as a gap closer it moves you just as fast as someone running with swiftness, so I suggest making it faster. Plus after the last leap, you can’t move for like 0,5 a second which is very annoying.
The 3 leaps are way too random even if I have a target and standing in front of an enemy it can leap the opposite way. And the evade is not effective enough since it doesn’t last the entirety of the skill.
- Shock shield is nice but the block is only things in front of you, whcih I kinda get since it does dmg and vuln as well, so not complaining there.
– Thunderclap. The stun duration seem a bit too low otherwise good.
– The AA aftercast is very slow and clunky, and kinda cripples the otherwise decent cleave.
Gyros:
- The AI is not good enough!!!. They HAVE to keep up with the players movements. I suggest dropping the AI crap. And just lock gyro’s to be at a certain distance on the engi the whole time. I’m tired of stopping every 3rd second so my gyro’s can keep up.
- The HP. Yes as we all knew it the gyro’s are being blown up within 2-3 seconds, thus preventing them to be of any use, either ramp up the HP and armor alot, or make them invuln. Otherwise they will never see the light of day, and no one will use them.
- The CD should start when summoned NOT when destroyed. It’s not fair that the CD start after they are destroyed( I know they die within 2 sec but cmon!)
- Bulwark Gyro. Nothing wrong with the idea of this except one crucial thing. It takes 3 sec before you get the 50% dmg reduction. NOPE not good enough, it must be instant when activated. Plus it’s HP as mentioned. And if it does have HP it should be much tankier than the other Gyro’s
- Purge Gyro. The same as Bulwark gyro it takes 3 sec before it does anything, plus it’s 2 condi cleanse is 1 target only. Yeah again not cutting it. It needs a condi cleanse on activation, at least on the engi. Then afterwards it should give AOE condi cleanse every 3 sec.
- Shredder Gyro. I like this one but I think it’s dmg is a bit too low, and again it dies withing seconds. And since you deploy it on the ground permanently it should not take dmg at all.
- Blast Gyro. Wow is this one annoying. First of for a single targeted 30 sec attack. It doesn’t do anyway near enough. Plus it has a tendency of blowing up at mobs/players, in front of my target, and otherwise has a mind of it’s own. And again it dies way too easily, as an attack it should be able to take dmg.
- Medic Gyro. a nice heal But the application of the aoe regen withing it’s field isn’t really cutting it. I like the idea that you have to be withing it’s aoe circle to get it’s heal. But when it can’t keep up or even stay on the engi. It loses it’s viability. And the total aoe heal is no where near the healing turret.
- Sneak Gyro. Again the stealth is nice, but it can’t keep up. And the fact that it doesn’t stealth it self makes it useless despite the argument that it needs a counter. It’s dumb and ruining the base idea of stealth. If you don’t want it to be able to permastealth, then simply just let it pulse 4 sec of aoe stealth 2-3 times every 3 sec. and that’s it. That gives plenty of USEFULL stealth without it being to strong.
- Funtion Gyro. I think putting this 30 sec ranged stomp/ress as our unique mechanic is a bit of a joke. To me it seems more like a grandmaster trait. Than and actual unique mechaninc. It’s kinda flavorless and meh, although it might see some use in Raids, we’ll see. it seem to have better use in PvP.
But the skill itself is again just not cutting it. It shoudn’t take dmg. although I like that it can be cc’ed. The stomp itself takes 4-8 seconds depending on the mood it’s in. And it sometimes just stands there, not knowing what to do. It’s horrendously slow and useless. The ress is a bit better but then again it dies withing seconds even from 1-2 mobs. PLus the 30 sec CD seem a bit too much for a simple stomp/ress mechainc althoug it’s ranged.
- The Gyro’s self destruct. It’s very boring that they do the exact same thing (aoe daze) nothing wrong with that. It just takes 2-3 sec. before it does that, make it instant plz. I would have hoped for some unique differenses or specific effect other than just the daze. For intanced purge gyro aoe condi cleanse or small heal. Or bulwark gyro, aoe protection or stab nothing to crazy ofc. just a little something usefull. I dunnno just something that makes sense instead of them all doing the same thing.
As for the toolbelt skills. They are all wonderfull!!! but why oh why haven’t you made the gyro’s so as well. They are currently the only reason, to even consider taking the gyro’s.
- The traits. Not alot to say there I like them alot. But there does seems to be limited choices between some of them. But i guess we’ll have to see with the raids and other content. And the minor traits aren’t good enough compared to others minor traits.
To sum it up.
- The hammer is awesome, minor things to change otherwise good.
- The Gyro’s need ALOT of work, it’s just not good enough.
- Traits also prett awesome, maybe some tweaking or alteration with the minor traits.
Most of what I have said has probably been said by many others. But the more the merrier I guess. And we need to voice our opinions, if we are to have any chance of making this elite specc awesome!

YES! I would love to see the either the legendarys effect transition into the kits. Or have the kits change aura, effects of skills, or even appearance. It’s So sad that when you change to your kits that no one can see that you have a legendary. And this game prides itself on cosmetics. Well it sucks to be an engi I can tell you that
I agree everything else than the Gyro’s were awesome especially the hammer. Maybe the dmg was on the low side, but that can be modified easily. But please A-net reconsider the destructability of the gyro’s. They seem pretty much useless if they can be destroyed. And some of the gyro’s are just useless in their current state.
- Heal gyro: the self heal is way too low, and the gyro seemed to have trouble keeping up with the player. It shoulf have the AI capacity to stay by the players side at all times.
- Purge Gyro: I don’t mind it cleansing every 3 sec. But it should cleanse like 2 condis when summoned, and then do it’s cleansing rotation for it to be viable. And was the cleansing Aoe?
- Blast gyro: Seems to not do quite enough considering 25 sec cd. And also seemed to be single target.
- Shredder Gyro: I don’t mind this one, but I think if you could like move it around like the ventari tablet, and if it did a bit more sicnificant dmg then it would definitely see some use. The F skill though seems very nice! aoe Daze!
- Bulwark Gyro: I like the idea of this skill especially since it’s aoe 50% dmg reduction, But the only concern is it’s healthpool. I don’t mind this one taking dmg since it’s kinda sacrificing itself for you and your party (5ppl). But then it’s healthpool needs to be WAY higher. From what I saw, it took 3.5k dmg from that mooses ranged attack and it was at 66% health. That means about 10.5k health, that’s WAY too low imo I was thinking more around 25-35k considering it’s not only taking your dmg but 4 others as well.
- Sneak Gyro: I find it’s use hard to see in PVE, namely Raids. Unless ofc. that’s gonna be and actual mechanic, stealthing your party for a few sec as well as revealing enemies that are stealthed. Fingers crossed for mechanics lie that. But then again here is the issue wich I think many will agree on. The fact that the Gyro itself isn’t stealthed is completely counterintuitive, and screws itself over. This has to be changed!!!
And that the gyro can’t seem to keep up is a major issue to, preventing you from just running normally. The F skill though seem VERY nice especially in PvP/WvW.
To summarize:
I think that everything including the F skills are very nice! some minor tweaks with dmg on the hammer perhaps, we’ll see in the beta. The Gyro’s them self Needs some serious work and reconsideration. They CAN NOT be destructable(except maybe Bulwark Gyro if it’s HP is high enough). And some of their effects and AI movement is terrible. If the Gyro’s can’t keep up with you, then they’re dead weight. And will never be used especially in WvW where if destructable, they will die instantly!
Ps. Other than the Gyro’s them self it looks nice, and plz don’t nerf hammer to the ground after a few days A-net. It seems very cool atm, and just what I was hoping for

Yeah if the gyro’s are killable then, that’s dead already. So i’m pretty sure since they said it was guardian spirit weapons they took inspiration from. That they are not gonna be killable. Fingers crossed.

Kind of a stupid question ofc. you have to buy HoT to be able to raid.
I agree with Kolompi. I have never had any problems with the particle effects, and it’s not like it’s 50 man zerg raids, it’s 10. I find that to be a nice number, and as long as the bosses have telegraphs and clear signs of what attacks they’re going to do, I say bring it on.

I disagree! It is not that hard to see and is easily dodgeable since it has a 1 sec cast time. That’s why most engies including myself. Usually use the skill then weapon swap before it activates(so not to trigger the CD), and the enemy wastes a dodge.
Yeah I really hope that Anet are putting in an effort to rework the AI and combat mechanics for all enemies, not just bosses. While still creating new and inventive ways of using telegraphs and/or other mechanics. To ensure that wherever you go you can’t just zerg it with 50 ppl and spam 1. You have to actually stay on your toes and do your best, or you’ll die.

So Engineer has finally had it’s mortar reworked as a long ranged kit, which I personally like, I also like the skills alot(even with the 28% nerf to AA). But, why is it that the velocity of the mortar shots are so slow? It’s like they’ve learned nothing from the previous state of the nades, and it takes at least 2 sec for the shots to hit at max range, that combined with the very shot radius on the AA makes it very hard to hit properly at times.
My suggestion for the mortar is:
– increase the radius for the AA to 240 like all the other skills
– Increase the velocity with 100% just like the nades.
Considering the dmg nerf, these changes seem fair and will make the mortar viable in WvW, and be up to par with ele’s and necro’s.
And now to the nades:
I like the changes to nades, all of it seems fair. Except the reta is still killing me every time I try to throw 3-4 nade skills at the enemy team. I lose around 40-50% of my health just from reta, since every nade you throw procs a reta instead of every nade skill. To me that just isn’t fair, and makes the otherwise really good medium ranged kit useless in WvW. And completely cripples engi even though we should with the recent changes, have the capability to compete as a ranged.
I really hope Anet fixes these changes especially the reta problem, which has been a problem since the start of the game.

I totally agree, and have been annoyed by this ever since I made my legendary rifle. Why must Engineers suffer from losing the cool and hardworked look of our legendary just because we use kits. which is a must for every Engi to use them to some extent.
And I think it’s a very cool and fair tier progression. That the better rarity weapon you aquire, the better your kits will look. And it should apply to all kits.
However I do know that it would take quite some effort and time to do that, for A-net. And they are working on HOT atm(understandable). But still it has been the other cosmetic issue for Engies(just like backpieces) since the release of the game. And the game prides it self with cosmetics, which we Engies still can’t fully aprecciate yet. I feel like the Hobosack was only half of the cosmetic unfairness towards Engies.
Now we need at least, some way to transition the effect and look of an ascended/legendary weapon to our kits. Then it will be fair.
Ye I can’t w8 to try and switch my rifle(which btw is amazing for a frontline dps engi) with a hammer to see the difference, . But your build is not really giving anything usefull to the engi. Except for the bombs and the vigor trait. But it seemed like an unfinished build anyway

I kinda see your point of view. If you indeed are playing this game only for the story, not to have any awesome encounter, or to feel alive when playing this awesome game, and it’s incredibly fun and complex combat. Then yes this game may not be for you. I and many many many others have been longing for ages, for anet to bring us not only this amazing story so far. But to also have an adrenaline kick out of it, and really have that feeling of accomplishment, from a fight. And unfortunately for you I think you are a very small percentage of those ppl, who finds this game “too hard”.
Everyone I know or have ever met in this game, finds it as I do. Just a bit too easy, and I can definitely say this without any doubts. That pretty much everyone, except(a small percentage, including you). Are loving the way that Anet are taking things, and they would pretty much loose their entire playerbase if they, in this future expansion wouldn’t be able to make this game even more challenging!!!
And to get back yo your method of solving, the challenging content by just making harder when you are going for the achievemnts, and then YOU! can have your first playthrough on easy mode.
I agree that they definitely should make it even harder, if you are going for the achievements. But I cannot stress this enough, Nothing and I say it again NOTHING beats your first playthrough! be it an entire game, boss, dungeon, living story chapter. It doesn’t matter, if it is not challenging you enough the first time you play it, in a way that you wont forget how your heart was pumping, and your eyes were focused on the battle. Then pretty much no one other than Achievemnt hunters will play that encounter again.
So I guess I kinda see your frustration. But my honest opinion is, don’t play this game then. And don’t try to drag us down to your easymode level. I know it sounds hard, but it’s the truth.
It would absolutely kill this game, if it kept on going with content and encounters, made just for casual players. which in your case, as you describe how you can’t beat this boss. Has no clue how to play this game. I’m not saying i’m the best at this game, but c’mon this encounter was not even close to being hard. Every clue to this enounter was given to you. kitten the NPC’s even said when they either threw the torch, or gave you a shield bubble with stability, or gave your timewarp.
So all in all, I as many others are liking the way that Anet, are finally realising that this game needs proper encounters. So please don’t screw it over by comlaining, just because you lack the proper skill for this game thank you
Ps. don’t be too offended by this post, it wasn’t a direct attack on you, just stating the obvious, and trying to clear out what I think, you have misunderstood by what a game should give. Peace!
I don’t know if you had experienced this, but i’m personally sick and tired of almost every jumping puzzle you do as a Charr or a class just as big like norn, kittens up every time I can’t do like any puzzle without failing all the time because of, screwed camera angles.
And the new JP is near impossible for me to do as I constantly look straight into a wall not knowing where to jump. Please fix this as i’m sick and tired of it!!!!
