Dam, you’re missing out on comedic gold.

But TBH, I personally couldn’t care less about whether veterans getting more than new player, or everyone getting equal amount. The primary reason why many of us play WvW is because we like the game mode for what it is, and not to maximise the shinies we get. Not saying rewards aren’t great, because they are. But they’re mostly just an afterthought behind our enjoyment for what the game mode is all about.

If I buy a new account can I get 4 years worth of gold? It’s not fair for new players to have to earn gold that current players have spent years acquiring.

No, you may not get that gold, but all gold currently in circulation as well as pending TP sell and buy orders shall be removed from veteran players. It is only fair.

Also, whenever a new player joins the game, all players shall restart their level from 1, all gears and materials in storage are removed to ensure level playing field. It is not fair veteran players can farm the gold faster than new players. It is only fair.

It’s not a ‘first tier problem’.

It’s Anet forcing any server out of its tier as well as the links, which have failed their ‘beta’ test.

Between the two, WvW is very unplayable 50-90% on any server most especially during NA Prime time on NA servers.

1. Tiers matter, I never said it doesn’t – it’s literally what I’m saying this whole time, so transfer down if you don’t like never ending queue

2. Noone cares if you’re a guy or girl or both or neither. Why would you even get offended? Just accept the fact you are on internet and no one knows anyone’s gender. Even if a person claims they’re are not a guy, one of the most important rule of internet states that everyone is a guy before proven otherwise. Because there exist people who likes attention. Also, should I put “this guy/girl” in everything? Would that mean I’m disrespecting people who are neither or both or whatever gender they associate themselves as? 1. How do you maintain participation by afking in game? Please teach $$$$$$

2. How do maps stay outnumbered if a lot of people move to the map because someone told everyone that a map is outnumbered?

You build six tiers of participation, teleport to spawn, stand there. The degeneration of participation takes so long to kick in that you can essentially stay in the spawn/ do nothing as long as you remember to occasionally press one button to move an inch before getting kicked from the map.

You do this, and check your participation bar every time you move, as soon as your bar goes red and a little timer appears, you go and kill one thing that rewards wxp… a piece of siege, a sentry, a veteran pve mob. You can even leave it until participation has degenerated to half way down to tier 4, since pips are coming in anyway after tier 3 so what you have is about 15 mins doing nothing for your team, while receiving rewards. Then 1 minute or so finding something to maintain participation.

Then your bar goes back to gold and the timer is removed. You aren’t technically AFK but you aren’t doing anything to help your server, spending 15 mins doing other stuff with gw2 open in the background while pips tick away. 15 ish minutes inactive, 1 minute active ish – Deserving of rewards? I don’t think so. But you can see it happening in any BL you log in.

Have you tried? It’s actually a lot more hassle than you think. I have, trust me I’d do anything simple and easy to maximise my pips. It is almost impossible to do any other work by doing this. The only thing you can do while doing this is probably getting food/water or kitten off on a short porno video. You cannot let your pips degenerate, because there are only a few times you can let it denerate before having to reparticipate significantly again to build up the bar. It is also not guaranteed to always have an event to do just a short walk outside of the spawn. Flipping runes is so bad it’s not even worth. If you are not careful, you will either be kicked out of WvW or lose all your participation easily. Doing all these requires so much attention that I cannot actually do anything else, and I wonder why don’t I just actually play the game.

How do I know? Because I tried it. Please tell me a better way. I really want that $$$$$$$

You see a lot of people?
1. They’re probably just taking a quick break (people do that even before pip) not everyone wears a diaper
2. They probably won’t last 10 minutes, its such a hassle, If they do, props to them for having such sad life.
3. They just finished their playing time and just afking in spawn to get that last reward before getting kicked out of WvW for being inactive

- However, despite mentioning all this, why is the outnumbered buff at fault here? You should be calling out the pip and participation system in general. But stop complaining unless you have a better idea, that is actually viable.

There is NO problem!

The fact that “everyone” as you put it, is complaining suggests that there is a problem.

Regardless this isn’t just about the pips, it’s about getting killed in outnumbered fights without receiving benefit from the outnumbered buff.

Yes I want this so bad. I can solo dive into Zerg to get additional pips $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

The difference in rewards and time it takes dor newbies vs vets to gain them is INTENDED. Its not a mistake. It was designed that way knowing how long it will take. Working as intended.

Working as intended doesn’t always mean working best, as it was shown many, many times with anet reworking older systems, reworking pvp pips, reworking pve traits, etc. This is hardly an argument in favor or against the current system, it’s just stating what the current system is right now.
For example, in game pretty much everyone agrees that the outnumbered pip is too much. If we never discuss anything, then let’s just admit everything is perfect and be done with it.

Your comparison to difficulty of raiding is irrelevant and asinine.

Its not that lower ranks are not intended to max out every week, that would be a ridiculous design. A more accurate depiction would be: “It is not intended for lower ranks to easily max out every week.” Which I agree with, low ranks should not have it easy. However, in its current state, it is not only difficult, but almost impossible for some people. If you read my reply a few posts up, there is potential for a low-rank to have to spend 8.5 hours to only just complete wood tier. And its not like it would take another 8.5 to complete bronze- no, it would take 10 more hours. And an additional 14 hours for silver, etc. That’s an awful lot of time for such little return.

The bonuses vets get is pretty fair, that’s the general consensus now. The current design is working as indented, yes. But that’s what people are upset about, and that’s how things get changed. The base pip system is silly, unreasonable, and probably wasn’t tested properly. If people don’t voice their concerns, it won’t ever become reasonable.

Think of it this way – Settlers Amulet/Turret Engineers in PvP were working as intended. It was incredibly OP, but it was absolutely working as the developers intended it to. The customers voiced their opinions, ANET looked into it, and nerfed that crap into the ground. If nobody said anything, PvP would still be full of bunker turret engineers dominating points 1v3.

The idea was not to have new ranks stay low ranks. If they want more pips they need to rank up. New ranks shouldnt be pip farming and their attempts to do so are being thwarted. Most have already left. The people that stayed behind are either waiting for pip nerf or actually enjoy game mode. Im gold rank, still havent finished pip track once and I play ~ 10~20hrs a week. Maxing out the track was not intended…Its possible but not easy. I think its actually a great system. It rewards ppl who are vets and rewards non vets and each to yheir own degree. The skirnish tickets are a marathon not a sprint. The longer someone does wvw stuff the more ranks they get the more pips they earn and thus the more valuable their time becomes.

Ppl make 2 kittenumprions. 1. low ranks will never increase to the next pip tier rank. It will take you a few months but you will reach 1 extra pips…then silver for 2…ext. the system is intended to discourage grinding because grinding isnt fun and reward dedication or wvw rank. Its an extra reward track that gives wvw rank some usefulness beyond 1300.

Assumption 2. Your suppose to max out your skirmish tickets every week. No. Just no. Any calculations about how absurd the time required for low ranks is a useless arguement. Anet built it on average play. Bronze using average playtime = Bronze chest. Low rank = wood chest. A low rank is intended to finish wood chest over a week..if they do more…great. The maxxing thhing comes from a desire to have. Practice budhism….

You are hopeless and have a despicable mindset regarding things other people can or can’t have. Please tell me how it would affect you if newer players were able to complete diamond chest in less than 60 hours? Because from your responses it seems as though it would absolutely trigger your increasingly apparent inferiority complex.

Strictly, you can’t. Yet, it often happens that after say, 1 hour of gaming, that you’ve reached max participation. It then only takes some little tasks here and there to keep your participation high, and so you can wait for significant amount of time at spawn, instead of running all around.
It still needs some commitment to watch participation not drop, and go do some chores from time to ime, that’s why I don’t really call that AFK-ing.

2. How do maps stay outnumbered if a lot of people move to the map because someone told everyone that a map is outnumbered?

It just cannot, and that’s why it upsets me a lot. I don’t specifically play or aim for outnumbered buff, yet I enjoy getting it when I feel a bit alone in a map. That’s why I think people mass jumping to “my” map and make everyone including me lose the buff. Not only do they lose it, and they had it coming and only have themselves to blame, but I also lose it, and it’s not deserved.

Thanks, so what is the problem people are actually complaining about regarding the outnumbered buff? You can’t really afk it. You have to commit to active playing to maintain participation. You can afk for only a few minutes in spawn, so what’s the difference between this and people who are “taking a quick water/pee break”? If a significant people makes the jump to a bl with outnumbered buff and “taking away manpower from other bl” will take away the buff, what is the point of changing bl when you won’t get the buff anyways? If they’re just cycling through bl to find a map with the buff, they probably wouldn’t be playing WvW or would meaningfully contribute to the game mode in the first place. Or it could also be said, how are they not contributing? They are contributing by playing on an empty map, which will attract more people to play on the map (despite they wanting them to be there or not). For an active player, outnumbered buff is a great bonus treat, and a great incentive for people to continue playing despite being outnumbered. It is something that is a bonus to have and you won’t lose anything for not having it.

So what is really the problem of outnumbered buff that people complain about?

I don’t see why people keep saying that it’s too strong. I am currently at platinum and it has taken me all week starting last Friday to get there. The outnumbered bonus comes along every now and again helping to give me that extra push at times. I don’t jump BLs for an outnumbered buff and I don’t AFK. I play normally.

The average WvW player (excluding brand new players) can reach diamond by the end of the week depending on how much they play. That was the whole point of the system, wasn’t it? Some players can reach diamond quicker because there are a few different factors that determine how you get pips.

Reducing the amount that the outnumbered buff gives you will do nothing but punish the players who play the game mode normally. Do you really want to do this?

Who cares? If they’re just here for outnumbered pip farming they probably wouldn’t be in WvW in the first place, so just let them do it? Not like they are taking up precious space in an outnumbered map…

Say there are 5 to 10 dedicated defenders working hard to turtle in a keep against the enemy zerg. They were getting outmanned buff which they deserve. All the sudden, the pip hunters hop in the map and goes afk. This is actually happening in many servers. I want to see the outmanned buff rewarding those who have been actively participating.

Would they have done the same thing if pips never existed? How do you even maintain pips participation by afking? If they are not afking, how are they different to anyone playing on the map? Can I sit in tower, flip sentry, sit back in tower, rinse, repeat and call myself a dedicated defender (and totally not here for the pips)? If they would do the same thing even without the pip system, why would they be different to any other players contributing in their own way doing other thing they enjoy, and why they deserve the extra pips?

Answer:

1. People will be afk-ing to abuse the system regardless of whether or not there is an outnumbered bonus. Heck, they could even do this with WvW reward tracks. There are other solutions to this problem. Like having participation drop faster or reducing the timeout that’s already in place for kicking inactive players.

2. The outnumbered bonus is intended to reward people for playing during periods of low server activity and it solves that problem. I don’t care if people are switching maps to chase pips. If feel like this is a temporary problem that will go away once hype over the new rewards dies down.

Add pips to the 5 minutes ppt. It’ll benefit weaker servers with less coverage more and encourages multiple groups instead of 1 ominiblob. It’s also more directly engaging on an individual level.

Mag tactics

They mostly play anything that can gank single players…hence why they spawn camp…a lot. Outside of groups they are kitten to fight as I find (and have mentioned/proved several times on and off stream) that in a fair fight (or when they slightly outnumber you), most of them falter. If you use any sense of strategy against the majority will crumble (as there are some that know how to fight without having 2 times your numbers lol)

Those who spawn camp/gank use the same tired tatics. There are 1/2 DD’s, a mez that mass invises and/or uses that curtain, a hammer scrapper with sneak gyro for the group stealth, 2 pew pew druids, and 2/3 DH’s (usually at least 1 condi) plus whatever other pugs want to join them. Ive led a smaller group out one of the sides (as its mainly in EB they do this while another bigger zerg takes everything on your side…this is why they do it) and behind the spawn campers and wiped them easy (portal bomb ftw).

God I miss fighting vs MAG spawn campers…you guys are the most fun and reward lots of loot bags xD

Ah, looking for personal insults as a form of defense…. cute…. Too bad I have clips to back what I said up. Don’t be mad tho, not all Mag are bad…as I have previously stated. The fact I click some skills means nothing. I still get my kills and trust me… insinuating that all Mag (or even all WvWers on any server) never die to skill clickers shows me how little you know or care to admit.

I bid you luck on trying to drag anyone down to your level here

I have a hard time believing you got any bags whatsoever from Mag spawn campers when every single time I’ve spawn camped the opposing server literally walks 2 steps out of spawn, gets epi’d and insta-dies.

Also, you claimed you can beat the majority of mag roamers in 1v1’s. I watched like 5 minutes of your stream and man, why you lying?

What’s your fav part of WvW that don’t exist anymore in today’s WvW?

It could just be me not being able to get rid of my nostalgia goggles but…

  • Long keep fights was the reason I craved WvW
    • General supply scarcity: Upgrades used to drain supplies, so most keep defense involved more hand to hand fighting instead of disablers – sieges – repair – rinse – repeat. It had less boring part of trying to grind through the wall. kitten shield gen that blocks trebs and cata forever
    • WP every 3 minutes, whereas now it’s wipe once – gg. Made it a lot more satisfying to defend a keep you dedicated time to upgrade, knowing you won’t lose all your hard work just from 1 quickie half wipe
    • Lords had less health, but they could be ressed/bannered – a few warriors running ahead could make all the difference.
    • Upgrade customization: paper and wp or reinforced first then wp? More variety of gameplay and balance between keeping a group out or fighting them directly.
  • Upgraded camps (especially spawn camp) had so much importance in order to safely upgrade the keep. Nowadays, I rarely see any server that have groups that dedicate their evening to upgrade and hold an enemy bl’s keep – and it’s just pure boring because it’s not engaging – just take the keep and flip a few camps once a while back and forth and forget. Scout while roaming used to be so satisfying since holding upgraded spawn camp and tower was important, and it was important enough that people would respond to it.
    • Supply management could be annoying sometimes because of trolls, but most other times, they were fun, interesting and engaging.
  • Less Condi

GW2 has so much cleanse that this can never work. Condi builds only work if they have spammable stacks of high-damage condi. Other builds only work if they have boatloads of condi cleanse and/or long-lasting resistance.

tone down condi stacking so that it’s DoT not burst. No more 12x confusion stacks. No more 30-bleed-in-2-seconds. No more poison spam.

+ The shear amount of random condis that comes with the burst, on a shorter CD than many cleanses. Should I get more cleanse? Yea, playing a build dedicated to cleanse is so much fun, right?

You can try SoS, they have numbers but don’t have much consistent organization in ocx, but does have some slightly before SEA, if you don’t mind playing slightly later. They also have a pretty huge SEA.

If a group wants people to be on TS, then be expected to go on TS and don’t whine for getting kicked. If a group doesn’t care, then also respect those who doesn’t care. Go start your own group or do your own thing with your own rule instead of complaining

7 Proffessions.

Nerf guard….nerf thief… nerf necro….nerf nerf nerf…. That is all I see in PvP and now more in WvW. That’s 3 of 4? Not saying your picks Zomg. Ranger is complained about because of the range and stealth. Ele complained about because support can’t be killed and they keep team alive…. That’s 5 now…2 left….eh nvm… it’s getting to be pointless

Ranger: staying at range from your opponent requires skill and mastery. Stealth is another great mechanic. All those mechanics are active and require some kind of contribution.

Support Ele: deal kitten damage, can be avoided, run away from, etc. Nothing major

CONDI FU….ING THIEF: spams with evades and dodges to apply condi, runs away, comes back, repeats cancr again. YOU CAN’T even touch it and it destroys you

and so on and so forth. See the problem? Skill design is crap on some spots.

i could maybe see how they add a stat change like the one for the Bloodstone Fen items

where you buy a “reset item” that resets all T3 Armorpieces

So Legendary Armor keeps its unique stat change but the WvW T3 Armor could get a basic form of stat change with a little cost added (maybe 100-250 Badges of Honor to buy the reset item)

A penalty?? Why, i get improve server loyalty but some people like to chase good fights and dispise mindless blob ppting. With how the match ups are near impossible to predict, its easy to get put in a tier that you hate. If they ever implement actual punishment for changing servers they should bring stability to tiers first.

I find it hard to believe when a guild of people can just transfer on a whim when they’re stuck in a bad matchup for a week or few weeks – then proceeds to change to another one again and again whenever those gets bad matchups.

If you’re a roamer, then why in the name of kitten do you need to transfer on a few weeks of bad matchup?

And lemme know an instance where there is a huge matchup crisis without huge transfers after every new link. None – because mass amount of people always transfer. Have you ever sat down and wonder – maybe you are the problem?

wich is no sense cause a full stacked server, will no matter win, sicne they are paired much more emptier servers, if the stacked servers spread alot of players theycan cap alot of stuff, if they stack in one mega blob as usual they can still cap everything easilly.

Sorry I wasn’t clear. I was wondering about the statement from the interview. Apparently said something about its bad “the more stacked the server is”? I don’t see the correlation there, how would it be bad for stacked server?? I need some enlightenment

Hate to say it, we need a Warfront style WvW (sorta like Rift, obviously not exactly the same) Where we just queue up solo or as groups/guilds and rek WvW for 45m at a time…

Better rewards, small and big groups, everyone wins.

You mean just do that for PvP instead. That gamemode has 1 foot in the grave just as well as WvW.

That could be interesting as well but I don’t think they would ever abandon sPvP like that.

Even adding more selection for PvP, could add AB style 10v10.

Unfortunately yea, I still have no idea why anet insist so much on keeping the style of the current sPvP. I showed my friends who doesn’t play the game and their comments are usually “what the kitten is going on?”, “they’re just running in circles”, “so whoever spams the most kitten of skills on an area wins?”

I feel like short arena style games, call it battlegroup or whatever, in a short round, fighting over objectives until they overrun their base, could do better as an alternative form of sPvP instead of replacing WvW. So sPvP is the hardcore arena mode and WvW can remain being the open world sandbox people come to play during breaks.

But it’s not 5v5 so no esport material $$$$. Oh well, idk when they’ll realise the current sPvP is also not esport material

What you talking about? No one wants them ditch transfer cost. Instead most people would want them to increase it back to 1800 or something for all server (or at least adjust it in accordance with their links) to stop the massive transfers that’s taking place since link
