Yea unfortunately I just don’t think they have the resources to support all 3 game modes. They’ve obviously made a strategic decision to primarily focus on pvp & pve.

They’re not focussing on pvp any more. And they have the staff resources, look at the numbers that have been given over the years. They are just hideously inefficient.

There are 13 Vacancies by the looks of things, but there seems to be quite the turnaround of personnel.

their inability to spell over the years caused them to alter the spelling of some English words (i.e. color instead of colour). They also don’t have a posh accent like a true English speaking lady or gentleman, and instead sound like some street kittens.

I think they are entertaining and it’s surprising how much damage they can do. So many small guilds will camp an area (whether it be a keep or spawn) and their presence just obliterates. They essentially can cut off life support from a main zerg by killing all reinforcements.

Abso-frickin’-lutely. When I tag up, I prefer to have 4 main groups. The zerg itself, a 5 man sentry team, a 5 man roaming team, and a 5 man ninja team. When I hit something, I want the roaming team moving to cut off the connected camps, and starving the place out, and I want the ninja team hitting a larger objective on the other side of the map. When all the teams are working in unison, you can really really do some damage.

I used to think PvD is useful only if your zerg is large enough (20+) and you are attacking a normal gate or reinforced gate, but not a T3 Fortified gate.

I was running around with Mag the other day and with around 20+ men, they PvD the enemy’s T3 Fortified EBG keep (both doors, inner and outer) and got in without the use of any siege, all the while under enemies’ AC and AOE fire =/

You are surely one of those players having such a Mesmer character, looking around in WvW for single players and run after them to kill them to get your hand full of XP. Great job done, really.

My PvP rank is 6, my WvW rank is 47. You know why? Because I don’t care for PvP or WvW, I’m a PvE player. But more often it seems to be much easier to do one of the WvW dailys to complete three daily quests to get the gold. This is the only reason my WvW rank is 47 (this and once completing a reward track for the final chest).

You know what I do, when I see an enemy who is close to the spot where e.g. I’m waiting for the Veteran creature? Nothing, as long as he also doesn’t do anything. More often I had moments, where I waited for a Veteran with an enemy close by and when the creature appeared, we killed it together and parted ways afterwards without killing each other (or in this case probably only me), even so we hit each other some during the fight.

So yes, there are players who aren’t killing a WvW noob like me on sight. Thanks to those players. To all others: Have fun at your life which consists of making the game bad for the few players who aren’t spending dozens of hours a day of optimizing their build.

If you’re complaining about the WvW community… At least from what I experienced, WvW community is extremely less toxic than PVE players when it comes to playing together. We don’t go around and tell everyone to PING GEAR OR KICK, KILL CHECK, AP CHECK, NECRO? KICK, NOT EXACT META BUILD FROM SPEEDRUN GROUPS? KICK, OH YOU DEAD? KICK.

Of course, there’s some smack talks and stuff between people, but that’s all just part of the sports.

If you actually came in the forum and ask what you could do to improve your chances against a power mesmer (or even just ask the best way to avoid fights to and do daily), I’m sure a lot of people would be willing to help you. But instead you chose to come in here and complain a (not) OP class that killed you immediately because you didn’t want to run a decent PvP-style build, or that someone didn’t leave you alone in a PvP-style game mode

No! Condi’s are so strong that there IS ONLY ONE way to deal with them – RESISTANCE. Condi clears only do one or two and then they only clear is a certain way (basically First in, last out). So, if burning, confusion, bleed, poison, and Vulnerability are applied in that order, then they will come off as Vuln, posion, bleed, Confusion and burning. that is the issue, there is not enough condi clear as compared to condis as they can be reapplied almost immediately while one has to wait for the skill recharge for clearing.

Most players in WvW do not use condi clear as it takes away from damage. Condi to boon works in the same way as condi clear.

If you would read my replies in this very thread, you would see that I want both condi spam and resistance nerfed. Not just one or the other. Either way, this doesn’t change the fact that Resistance is way too powerful to be a boon. If its effect isn’t changed then it needs to be turned into an effect, so that concentration doesn’t increase its duration.

As to your comment about people not taking condi clears because it lowers their damage………….. seriously? You want people to be able to ignore condis with a broken boon simply because they can’t be bothered to have a build that can clear condis? Building for maximum damage at the expense of condi clears is a build choice. To be able to completely overcome that shortcoming and weakness of the build via a single boon completely ignores balance. If you want to not have any condi clears thats perfectly fine. But that does not in any way mean that condi’s shouldn’t be dangerous to your build. In fact it means the opposite really.

Also, it’s not like we can consistently apply resistence at the broken rate of the insane amount of condi that can be applied, especially with condi duration increase and stuff

This thread really makes me want to go to one of the PvE forums and complain about legendary armor, even though I’ve never done a raid. Don’t have a build to do a raid or even know where to start one.

I believe there should be no PPT adjustment for structures moving from T1->T2->T3. The fact that they upgrade defensively should be reason enough to defend an upgraded structure, not that the PPT is higher.

Upgraded structure usually get defended a lot more in the past just because of the effort and cost to upgrade it. It’s so easy and automatic now, people don’t even care as much when a t3 is flipped.

This is basically eotm now, while it is currently only held together by the last remnant of server pride/competiveness for those that cares about ppt and defending.

But this is probably anet’s final and epic form of keeping their promise on “making defence rewarding”, which they kept selling to us for the last expansion. I wish there are changes to this but I doubt it.

People complained that the only viable build is berserker.

The fastest and only viable way to kill the harpies/boar/centaur/guards was berserker. There were no build diversity and stack → LoS → spam attack is all you need in WvW.

It was such dark times when there were no build diversity in WvW.

So they buffed condi and fixed WvW

Yeah ANet has really made a lot of good changes to the map, hay bales are another really good addition that lets you get down off the cliffs easier. The new launch pads for getting around the shrines are great, the changes to earth keep removing many of the outer barriers and AoE cripple was good.

The only 2 things I can really complain about desert Borderlands now is:
1. The towers/keeps are too spread out offering not a lot of strategy to having them.
2. It is far too big a map so even with large numbers of players it still feels a little too empty.

The third and biggest issue with DBL is that it doesn’t lend itself to zerg vs zerg encounters. It’s even worse when ZvZ happens at the lord’s room.

DBL is great for roamers, havoc, ktrain but not open field ZvZ fights because there’s so little open spaces for most of the map, especially around the keeps.

And heaps of hills and stairs when a significant amount of skills in this game don’t work properly on it.

I have more obstructed on abl flat terrain then the wobbly terrain dbl has.

But seriously, I’m talking about some teleport skills, ground casting stuff, and most leaps, and it just happens dbl has an excess of stairs and steep terrain in comparison.

Try HoT map without gliders or mushrooms, that’s what DBL feels like. Thanks for addressing the gimmicks, but please also look into the verticality that is atrocious to play on without gliders or mushrooms. And those towers (especially north) that are so isolated, not only is it a pain to run to it to defend, it serves absolutely no strategic purposes beside free karma.

Assuming that we’re getting any thing significant in the first place. We may as well turn out to be buying kitten trait line expansion.

The problem with doing anything is that it will upset a large portion of the wvw playerbase. The last time they did something big (Desert Borderlands) it killed off many wvw players. And if they did start listening to our ideas, who would they listen to? The roamers who want to punish all zerg play? The players who want condi removed? The K trainers who play for loot?

I absolutely don’t get this argument. If this is their policy, they might as well just turn this game into RNG pay to win and just rely on some whales to fund their game.

But clearly they don’t want to do this. And that’s left with us players who spends money every once a while because we are having fun with the game. So more content = more satisfaction = more money. You know they earn $0 from players who quit?

We like Skirmishes and are looking to support this with rewards in the future. In general, for WvW, our priorities are rewards and ascended equipment.

So what have we learnt? Anet has been working on WvW as usual and of course evidently? And they are also looking at working with rewards and ascended gear, but not confirmed? There are absolutely no hints on any of their progress.

I feel like I learnt nothing and I also can’t help but think we still won’t get anything for a while.

GW2 heavily rewards zerging. If a player is doing something and another player comes to help, they both get the same rewards. Scaled up to WvW levels, this causes zergs. Zerg fights are fun and all, but IMO, the game is at its best in small encounters. (say, 2v2 up to 15v15).

Anything that could encourage many small groups on map rather than one big blob would be an improvement.

So you mean desert bl? Too bad it’s not always viable to coordinate pug groups without multiple guilds that’s cooperating, so you end up with a lot of people absolutely hating it.
