I hated skyhammer (the new) skyhammer when it was in unranked, but once i played it in ranked, i started to like and later love it
It’s always the map of choice when it pops up!
Because it got a great turn-around option, this makes it exiting! Unlike those maps you know you lose/win once 100-200 points difference are there
And the best part, one person can do it, in case your team is bad – no problem, just get that hammer and you still got a chance!
Or if you are winning, still keep an eye on the hammer or you could lose! That makes it exciting!

Sounds more like a shaff
Maybe something skritt themed? Something build out of shiny stuff – making shiny footprints – could be any weapon, even a torch (eg holding a baby skritt that hiolds a shining orb as flame)
I did just read gold wit 4 or 5 wins in placement matches ?
I won 6 of my placement matches and had been placed low silver ?
They were more or less random and it felt like half of the people didn´t know how to PvP. And now i can´t get out of silver. My win rate in mostly solo Q is just a bit over 50% but it feels that 4 out of 5 oponents i encounter are easy to fight :-(.Ye, that is how it went.
That is why I was asking if there was any information as too how the placement matches work. Any factors other than your win/loss ratio.
The average mmr could be used of the other team? Easiest way to find out – get a few placement matches (maybe ask a PvE guy out of your guild) and check the ranks of the 10 placement games – I asked in some (saddly not all) and the answer was always “we are in bronce”)
When the people que right after they left the match, yeah the chance you meet at least one of them again is high – specially if you aren’t playing at prime time – 5 min que-dodge should be enough, maybe even less
And since you can run in the open world, i don’t see a problem

also new players could learn quicker, when you talk, you ask more – when i write, only when i am dead/idle-defending and most of the time as short as possible
And this is one of the topics, bronce is quallified to know, because we (should) have the most new players.
For example, telling someone they wait at the wrong spawn-point of a beast, or telling them the middle buff in temple, and the capture all one… (had that, blinked on the map to that point – no time for writing, barely for clicking on the map, they for the 8:30 buff instead of the 11:30 -.-)
the noobs go down anyway. You don´t need to speed up the stompers. And it will push up players regardless their skill for matches thes even don´t need to fight hard.
Human factor will always decide a large number of matches and handing out bonus points for RL factors on the oposing team is bullkitten.

Because that speeds up the movement into the right direction, the “noobs” go down and for fighting other noobs and the players who are placed against noobs get a higher placement, far away from noobs
If players can stomps, there is an other problem – AFK players (this should make an excuse to this rule), class staking (hopefully it will be solved) or skill difference (and this would be solved, if the good ones move faster up and the unexperienced ones move faster down)
Every one knows everything in the forum , but some how i get players insta dying as warriors and guards or players that afk close.
Not possible to win such games.
God a couple of games ago i saw 1v1 close a warrior vs a warrior, they just started that 1v1, i go + 1 him, and he leaves me ro go kill chief…..
I asked him why u left me 1v1 a warriors as a necro, he said there was no point ro 2v1 a player in a point that belong to us.
And this crap is actually happening in platinium.
Its really crazy that in the same game there is such a huge gap in skill playI just had 5/6 losses lol, 4 games I had 2 thief, one with no armor. #feelsbadman

An AFK player is something on it’s own, that problem needs a own solution – but when one team is able to stomp the other team (assuming class stacking isn’t an issue anymore) the skill difference seems higher – and triyng to measure skill is the thing we all want, no matter how low/high our skill is

You need a bigger barrier to entry for Ranked matches. And remove the rewards for losing.

- pick skyhammer/Temple
- get the hammer/geth all Buffs (don’t try to blink on the mini map for the first buff, they just run for the main buff that isn’t there…. trust me)
Wouldnt it be nice if the game simply said hey I will give you +5 rating at the end no matter the result if your team bring only unique classes?
Players would be encouraged talk amongst themselves and have a wide array of classes specced for sPvP, maybe even be less toxic if they loose on a “diverse” team vs 5 DHs.
Now add +5 rating if your team lost but scored higher than 425 points as a “GG well played” bonus for a potential max of +10 points for diverse and decently even matches (ie +- 0 if you would have lost 10 ratings on the match).
But I digress. Lets go deeper down the hole instead.
Lol, kittenumption, giving rank points in close matches will “powercreep” the ranking, the system is suposed to learn and clasify players to at a long term after washing out the inacuracys bringed by soft mmr reset and placement matches and the players are in their “true place” teorically all matches have to be “fair”. in pro of the sistem the only matches that have to count to rank are the close ones and if a blowout ocurs have low impact in the ranking because something went wrong in the mm assumptions to put the match on go and match was unwinnable for one team
There are multiple ways this can be ashiefed, less lose for the loser, less win for the winner – total of points would stay
Or instead of taking/giving less – the opposite direction, if a game is 100:500 more points for the winner, more points taken from the loser
Both would end up similar for the player, but they can be balanced easily.
And for skill rating, if a game ends 400:500 i’d say they are on a similar skill level compared to a 100:500 game
Uhm 3-4 loses equal one win, therefore it doesn’t matter as much…. (those kitten pips, i would understand if 400:500 would give the loser something, but giving them something just for beeing there… )
I will say that it’s bright points, S5 is the best yet with the fairest matchmaking.
Sadly, population in low. This is largely because it’s self defeating to play more than the minimum of matches. The leader board considers only win ratio. The most effective strategy is to play a minimum of matches to minimize risk.

that is true for higher divicions, for bronce – i gain/lose around 10 points, that feels like nothing. Soon after the first placement matches i gained/lost 20-30 points a match.
I rather lose/win more points, because it feels like i could move (i’d still need a 60% win ratio for real movement, but if it feels like movement, i play more)
Right now i play just for the gear (now on the computer of a friend with his PvE char) because everything else doesn’t feel like it would matter at all. Specially when i calculate how much wins i would need for real movement (~10-15 per win, even with a straight winstreak, i would need way to nuch matches for movement)
Class restrictions. It will hurt queue times and lead to worse games. If one class is being stacked for an advantage, it needs fixed with balance changes. If stacking it is seen as a disadvantage, then players should be swapping for a better comp if they really want to win. Otherwise, they should lose and lose rating.
Only if a class is unbalanced or got a low skill flor (both are problems on their own)
And i gladly wait a minute longer if that means no class stacking
How much impact should one player have on win/lose – how much should one be able to carry?
For example kylo vs hammer, in hammer one person can easily switch the points.
A single player in Kylo can’t carry as easy (only when they can 1v2-3)
Therefore should a player be able to win ‘alone’ or should or would one get to much power?
Saddly i have no screenshot, but yesterday was a great game, 2 messmer 2 thiefs in each team! (Only difference, ome team got a guardian other a warrior)
Your way through gold is to coordinate your team pre match. Go in assuming they’re scrubs and they probably will be.

I would actually say that thief damage is higher than guardian damage (from personal experience). :s
Plus there is some diversity to guardian.. I mean I’ve seen people play support guard or variations of trapper, partially only taking 1 trap.

Yes, a rare chance in any pvp box – or getting the ley line skins with the pvp path until you got the achiefment for one part
Edit; if you are placed in bronce there isn’t a big difference to unranked (except a few more who try to carry)
And when you lose your 10 placement games on purpose, you will be there

I know people playing ranked solely for the ascended rewards. They don’t give two friks about their games as long as they can grind it out. I’m all for rewarding play in PvP but ascended armor (which btw doesn’t help you in any way in sPvP) is just a blatant lazy way to boost numbers in the game mode for a short period of time. The “healthy” way of rewarding dedicated players is through exclusive skins/minis/titles, things that make you stand out for playing PvP and not grinding for a week and not coming back.
Or just making the ascendendet more expensive, nearly a compleat set in the first weeks of a season? Really?
They don’t have enough good ideas for heavy skins – you should suggest how a heavy skin should look like, in that case they know what their customers want.
Win win – you get an skin – they don’t need to think about the skin concept, ‘just’ the details

PvP just wouldn’t be the same without stomping downed players. It also adds a bit of extra depth and strategy to gameplay.

They should modify the matchmaking system based on the assumption that most people tend not to switch classes, and most people only have small number of classes they will prefer to play.

In that case, a net could take a lookbon the number of people who class swap.
Also in case i am with 2 or more thiefs, it is rare that they swap (right niw in bronce, last season always ruby)
Most people don’t want to class swap, even if keeping the class is an obvious disadvantage
First of all placement in previous seasons doesn’t matter.
Second I have nothing personally against you dude but you shouldn’t make any assumptions based on bronze quality players.
I know – i am in bronce and i just hope it is different in other divisions (the worst part of beeing in bronce, it feels like my skilly lower themselfe)

I understand – in previous seasons ranked didn’t do what should do – group people on same tier of skill. Simply put quality of matches did go up while you where climbing.

I saw enough warriors using that skill – it works as intended (and i love that skill, just evade/kitten the warrior for 7(?) Seconds and the problem solves itself)
GW2 uses Glicko2, which is an advancement of the Elo system.
If your rating is higher than an opponent, you’re expected to win. If your rating is lower, you’re expected to lose. If the expected outcome happens, the rating change is smaller. If the unexpected outcome happens, the rating changes are large. The magnitude is linked to the strength of the expectation.
Glicko adds a rating deviation and Glicko2 adds a volatility element, which account for players whose ratings are unknown or are consistently getting unexpected outcomes.
In your example, your friend got less rating gain because he was more likely to win. When you beat a team which you know is worse, it doesn’t say much about how good you are.
since all rating changes are around 10-15 % (including those matches with an AFK player or class-stacking-disadvantage) are there matches with a hughe difference? A game where you could gain a lot if you win (but are strongly supposed to lose)
Step 1: Roll P/P Thief or Necro
Step 2: Counter DH
Step 3: Be countered by Everything Else.

I think the current point distribution system needs to be changed. Let’s say you had 3 very good and 2 not so good players on the enemy team. Their average MMR may not be that high, but 3 of the players’ individual MMRs were pretty high. I think points gained/lost should be based on the person on the enemy team within your league bracket with the highest MMR…
The systemn places people around the same mmr – except duo-Q, therefore 3 good players need to be in the wrong placement and that should ensure the win
My experience during this season were good matches without trolls.
And yes, solo queue need to arrive with the removal of class stacking.
Once that happens, i am happy with whatever low division i may stuck, but it just doesn’t make fun to play with 2 guards in your team against 3 guards on the other team….
That’s some easy gold – when you see ypurself matched with him, we know who, just lose the game on purpose, wait for the offer and DC (or be a true troll, take the money and don’t DC – what should he do, contact the Admins?)
The problem with gold, if we get gold, it will speed up the inflation – but if we get stuff (boxes) we have to sell, it doesn’t increase but decrease inflation because there are more goods to buy
