Kill credit is breaking during big events.

well i got zero of exp or drops during the entire 3 day event and i participated in all of them. the first 2 events i did on my mesmer and the last one i did on my ranger. it made no difference, there was no loot. even when i was solo exploring the island and solo killing kraka and other critters there. i only got an odd junk loot and a couple of powerful blood after killing tons of them . On the final event, I was even in a party of 5 all the way till we fought ancient kraka and i got kicked off the server, but no exp or loot during the entire event.

My post above was originally posted in a different thread, relating to not getting rewards, then I received a message from the moderator that it was deleted and merged into this one.
I just want to clarify, i spent about an hour and a half in the event chain, first in the cave, then we went to fight this champion. The lag progressively got so bad, i could see that not just me, but most players in our group couldn’t do much and we were just being killed off. After about 30-40 minutes of this, i was laying dead once gain and ported to the wp near the ship so i thought i may as well leave for LA and retry, maybe get a different, less laggy overflow but then the game totally locked up on the loading screen that all i could do is reboot the pc. when i logged back in, i was in LA and i didn’t see the point going back then. So even though i did most of the event, i never got to finish it and get my reward. I lost count on the repair and wp costs. So yea very disappointing.
Just wanted to also mention that i was kicked off the server once before during the champ fight but to the char select screen and was able to get back in and when i did get back, the lag was just as bad if not worse than before.

Yesterday, i was completing Frostgorge Sound with my thief. Everything was going fine till i entered that dredge mine. started to get a really bad lag that just kept getting worse the longer i stayed in there till finally i couldn’t move and got killed. I turned all my settings to lowest and it made only marginal difference. This happened soon after Anet had performed maintenance.

I agree also pvp maps should be separated for exploration purposes, but even in gw1 to get the Cartographer title, you had to go to all pvp areas and had to switch sides from Luxon to Kurzick and vice versa to complete areas like Fort Aspenwood and Jade Quarry. However those were somewhat easier as basically you just switched sides and fought for that side to discover the areas, while in wvw the keeps and forts are held by enemies and they have to be defeated to gain entry.
Also in gw1 there were no poi, vistas sp’s etc only actual map discovery but it was still very hard as you had to cover every inch of the map and skirt right along all the edges, in order for it to be revealed. So many times, I literally had to walk into walls to get that small spot missing. Good ol gw1, I loved that game hehe.

Under water combat update?

And wouldn’t it be nice if they fixed that invulnerability issue with mobs including some skill point bosses underwater, like that winged creature in Mt Maelstorm or Timberline Falls, not sure which. I had that boss down to 1/3 of HP no less than 3 times and each time he would run away fully heal then come back at me till he finally killed me. The thing is, its not even a big area, a small lava cave underwater and I basically stayed in one spot where I first challenged him, but he still kept running away from me far enough to go invulnerable fully heal and only when he was full health would come back to attack me again. I was only able to complete the skill point on the next day, when another person came along and we basically pinned him to the wall.
But I see this all the time u/water and Orr is notorious for it. It often happens on land too but not as frequently as u/water. Put it this way, u/water combat was one the tings I really looked forward to in gw2 and at the beginning, I actually loved it. Then came the Invulnerability thing and it spoiled it for me to a point where i now dread going underwater. So hopefully they’ll fix this soon, so I can enjoy u/water exploration once again.

Well as I explained to support my log in details for gw1 and gw2 ARE different. I never used an email address as my username for gw1, it is a NCSoft account too. When this problem first occurred there was a suggestion by Anet to log into gw1 using same details as gw2, as they were now supposed to be the same. However, when I tried to do that, it came up with an error and I could only log into gw1 using its original log in details and I think that is where my problem lies. Its almost as if anyone who didn’t use an email address as a username in gw1, didn’t get their accounts linked properly or something. I even thought about changing my username and password for gw1 but feel too scared in case something goes wrong and i get locked out of both games. I’m saying this because lot of my friends had no problems with HoM, but unlike me, they all had email address as their username for gw1.
However, one thing I didn’t do when I logged into gw1, is to visit the HoM, so just to be sure, I will try again. So thanks for suggesting that Healix. All I can hope for is that it works. I don’t even care about the rewards so much any more but i do want the pets for my ranger, the mini pets and the titles I’ve earned.

I never got my rewards either and I’ve been playing GW2 since the head start. I get exactly the same thing as the OP when I visit HoM (Hall of Monuments). My GW1 account is not banned and in GW2 it says my accounts are linked.
I’ve had a support ticket in from the first week of release, but so far, nothing. The last response I got was an automated message with a series of Q &A none of which addressed my problem. At the end of the message was a small note by a staffer stating they’re aware of the problem some people can’t get their rewards and are working to resolve it. That was in early September.
A few weeks ago, I wrote them again, asking what is going on and still haven’t received any response.
I have 50/50 in HoM , worked my butt off in GW1 to get it and it seems it was all for nothing. Not only that but, I also earned GWAMM (God Walking Among Mere Mortals) title in GW1 for which I also worked very hard and which is transferable to GW2, but haven’t got that either.
I’ve been very patient since I felt there were more important issues for the company to deal with but now that the game has settled down, it would be nice if they attended to this matter and not make us feel (at least me) like we’ve been completely forgotten. I’m hoping since they’ve just released the reserved names from GW1 the other day, they will now turn their attention to the HoM issue.

Bank Sorting Option

in Suggestions

Posted by: Tiger Ashante.1792

Tiger Ashante.1792

I would like to suggest an improvement to the standard bank tabs. The crafting ones are fine but the normal bank tabs could do with a better functionality.
Please add at least 12 category tabs numbered 1-12 vertically on the right hand side of the bank panels, with an option to rename them such as Armor, Weapons or whatever you like. This can be done simply by clicking on the numbered tab which would then open a panel and within that panel a tab option to rename it from the number to the desired name.
These panels are by default equally divided space you have in the bank, but each panel should be expandable according to the usage. ie: if you have more of one particular item such as weapons or armor then you can have more space in that panel but less in those you don’t use so much. It still equates to the same amount of space in the end.
In having these tabs, it allows one to sort out their gear and simply by clicking a tab named Armor or Weapons, it opens only that particular tab. Right at the top however, there should be a tab that allows to view all items in the bank simply called “All” or something like that, which allows you to scroll down as you can right now. I hope this will be viewed by Devs. as a helpful suggestion worthy of implementation.
Thank you.

GW2 Fun or Madness?

While I never felt the mobs were too difficult individually, the density of Orr is pretty ridiculous. It becomes a real annoyance when 50-75% of the WP’s are contested and I can’t hoof it anywhere quick because the enemies are stacked 10 feet from one another.

Of course, perhaps I should have clarified it, 1 on 1 is not the problem but how often do you really fight 1 on 1? Its rare, especially in Orr. I find often even when you engage 1 enemy another 1 or 2 will literally pop out of the ground to mob you.

GW2 Fun or Madness?

Tiger Ashante.1792

I just finished the Arrah Story for the 2nd time. It was 0 fun, worst experience I’ve ever had in any game.
First time I did it with my main a few weeks ago and it was hard and crazy then, but now the changes have made it plain stupid.
The mission is too long, Total confusion at the end, undead numbers were insane, NPC’s were useless, one hit and they were all dead.
Reviving in combat is pointless in this game most times (unless u want to die as well) as the enemy has been made to target you when reviving, but in this mission it was impossible. Certain NPC.s had to be kept alive, while hordes and hordes came to attack them specifically and the battles went on and on ad nauseum. 1 player even fell asleep.
For a solo player (which I often am due to my time zone), normal mobs are too strong imo, especially in Orr, but in this mission each foe was like a mini boss (there was tons of those among them as well), taking too long to kill them and turning the mission from being fun to tedious grind. I get this feeling generally in the game, but especially in Orr, due to not only Risens’ strength, ridiculous speeds and debilitating skills that should only be reserved for bosses, but their large numbers and extremely fast respwans. Rest of the game isn’t immune to this but Orr it simply ridiculous.
Every time I’m there, I feel like I’m stuck in some B-rated horror movie where endless zombies chase you relentlessly for a pound of flesh. I can never stop to look at my map or admire the scenery in Orr without being mobbed by this trash and getting around the place is sheer nightmare. The terrain is designed for maximum frustration, not enjoyment, by making you go miles and miles around and have to kill 100’s of these Risen just to get to a spot a few meters directly ahead. Even in outposts, you cannot find safety. Where ever you go, every few steps, another ding for DE blocking your way and I’ve sometimes screamed in frustration for it to go away and leave me alone for just a few minutes. There are too many events and way too many risen, that often go invulnerable or respawn before they even hit the ground after killing them. And so in Arrah, sad to say, same ol, same ol. I hated it and will never play it again.
All this, is a huge disappointment for me. I was a Hard Core gw1 player, where I got 50/50 in my HoM, not a small task I assure you. It may be all for nothing though, as some bug is still preventing me from getting my HoM rewards 2 months after the head start and Anet’s done nothing so far to address it. But I digress. What I’m trying to say, it took me years to get bored with gw1. And having waited so long for gw2, I find 2 months into the game, I’m already sick of it.
Don’t get me wrong, there are many amazing things in this game, the maps alone are incredible, I can’t even imagine how much work must have gone into them. I love the free combat style as well, but it’s not enough. Not to keep me playing as much as I played gw1, at least not the state the game is in at the moment.
There’s is a good epic storyline missing in this game. Personal story is ok, but it should be a side story, not the epic one in such a big game. I also find majority of elite skills are pretty lame. There are only a few good ones across my chars and I have 5 of them covering most profs. There’s also not enough facilities, like banks and crafting stations in the world, there should be 1 of those in each map imo.
I thought I’d have fun doing 100% world exp, it started off that way but soon became a pain. Some of the vistas are ridiculously hard, with that crazy camera angle that locks up through your character whenever there’s something overhead and you can’t see where you supposed to go. Despite the difficulties, I persevered and got it, but I’ll not be doing that again either.
I’m not a big game hopper and I have placed my faith in gw2, but what’s left for me in this game? Not much. Some of the things I’d like to do, is craft my own Leg Weap, but they’ve been made almost impossible to achieve, unless you spend tons of RL money on it or grind, grind.
So am I having fun? Not really. I so wanted to love this game, but in all honesty, it leaves me feeling empty somehow and with a sickly thought, if I have to kill another Risen again, I will surely throw up.
Perhaps if some adjustments were made to those things mentioned above I may find myself enjoying the game more. I do understand the game is new and is being tweaked continually and this is why I’ve stuck with it this far, but the way things are, I’m losing interest real fast.

Yes, totally agree with account wide Karma. If you want to get that Legendary Weapon, which requires something like 1 million Karma, I don’t see how any 1 character can achieve that without resorting to Karma botting or grinding events/dungeons for years on end, so big YES from me!

Very annoying mesmer bug

Tiger Ashante.1792

Yes I feel you. I’m constantly having these problems with my mesmer and even my guardian if using any kind of teleport type skills gets stuck in objects. Worst part, when you get stuck like this, you’re invariably locked in combat and cannot port to anywhere without logging out. or dying. But its not possible to die all the time as the enemy can’t reach you either when you’re stuck in graphics. I think the major issue here, is that some of the objects have no collisions or have not been placed/coded correctly or the skills are somehow breaking those collisions.

I got past the part the OP is stuck on, where i had to defend the lumbar camp, then the next objective is to secure the gates of FT. There’s a green ring in front of the gate covering the area i’m supposed to defend, but after a small initial wave of risen, nothing else happens, no quest update and i’m stuck at that point. I just tried to do this story part, killed the eye but never got the cut scene and so cannot progress. Going to try again, but if you’ve tried it twice and got different outcomes, both bugged, I’m not holding much hope. I did report it as a bug in game but really, to have to wait again for this to be fixed now, after the Ships of the Line was bugged for weeks, is rather depressing.

I did the first part of that battle the other day, and it was insane! There were so many undead and so few npc’s it was ridiculous. For most part, all I could do is run around while being chased by 50+ undead as I tried to get to the light house. I’ve done this mission before on another character a while back and it wasn’t as bad as this. I’m now supposed to do the next part but I’m concerned what I’m going to find.

(Blocking Progress) Ships of the Line PS-Cannons Don't Work!

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Tiger Ashante.1792

I think I’m getting close to completing my story in Orr. I’ve already done the Arrah dungeon story, which featured cannons in the finale, that seem to work.
However, all along my personal story, I’ve had to use Siege type weapons numerous times and not once did they work. I’ve managed to find a way around them so far, but now I’ve hit a wall. I’m currently doing “Ships of the Line”, where I’m on a ship and supposed to fire these 5 cannons at the enemy situated onshore but the cannons don’t work. Either I’m doing something wrong, or these weapons have somehow bugged out in my game.
As far as I can see, I have no option to adjust the direction of any of these weapons. The only option I get is to “Use” them and when I do, a skill bar appears. Every skill I click, except shield absorption, says “out of range”. I read someone’s reply to a similar post that said you should hold the skill down to gain better range, so I’ve gone back into the instance and tried it, but it still say’s the same thing (out of range) no matter how long or short I hold down skill buttons. Please help! I would be very sad if my story ended here after all the work I put into it, plus I really want to know how it ends XD.
Thanks

Travel in GW2 way too high for high level players?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Tiger Ashante.1792

It’s been mentioned many times before.

I think it should become obvious to everyone by now that high costs (you can add armor repair, skill books, runes of holding) are there because Anet doesn’t want the average player to have any significant amount of money in game.

I believe it is their hope that this will push more people into buying stuff with real cash (character slots, extra storage, etc).

It’s as simple as that. If you argue against harsh money sinks you argue against their philosophy of generating income with the cash shop.

I guess so. I had really hoped ANet wouldn’t jump on that same band wagon as other games have done. Not everyone can afford to keep buying game gold. I bought the Deluxe version of the game and bought $50 worth of gems since release, just to get extra storage space, which I feel we should have been given anyway. So 1 month into the game, I’ve already spent $130 on this game and I imagine there will be more costs in the future. But that is all I can afford to spend right now and these travel and repair costs, not just in noob areas really, but everywhere as a L80, are bleeding me dry, which I feel will put me at a disadvantage against other players who can afford to buy things I cannot.

Travel in GW2 way too high for high level players?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Tiger Ashante.1792

Tiger Ashante.1792

I have an issue with the cost of travel around Tyria as a L80 in particular. I’m currently trying to complete 100% world map and have to do all the various starter areas as I’m sure everyone doing exploration already knows.
The problem is, I’m being charged on average 1.5s -1.9s per waypoint in these noob areas, depending on how far it is. If you were doing these maps on level, you would be paying less than 20c per trip.
So even though my level has been scaled down to the area and the reward where I get mere 40-60c for completing hearts, the charges have been scaled up. And its not just travel either, the repairs are just as expensive.
So while I’m doing these noob areas, I’m running at a massive loss and having to lay out money that I worked so hard to earn. I guess they assume since you’re L80, you must be loaded and able to afford it. Well, I’m not rich by no means, I don’t farm, I don’t bot, I don’t use exploits. I’m basically an honest player trying to work my way through content and enjoy the game best way I can, but these costs are really hurting me.
If the Devs don’t fix this issue, I see these exorbitant charges facilitating a situation where honest players will be forced to join things like exploits, bots farming etc, just to stay ahead, let alone save enough money to buy that cultural armor set that costs a small fortune!

"RRRAGGHH!!!!" Charr constantly in pain?

Posted by: Tiger Ashante.1792

Tiger Ashante.1792

Yea, I got the same problem. I haven’t played my Charr female ranger for a while and I don’t recall having this screaming when I first made her. I played her to lvl 12.
It seems, this coincides with the 14th Sept update where lots of V/O’s went missing, but I’m assuming these new sounds were added in a that time, as I’ve noticed some new comments by my other characters, particularly during combat.
On another note, I’ve also noticed across my female characters, they sometimes sound like males. Like there’s no one else around, and a male voice will say something like, “refreshing”! I’m assuming its my characters saying this, as there’s no one else around?
But seriously, I started to play my Charr again yesterday and I find the falling screams so annoying I’m considering deleting her, tho I hate to do that since she’s almost lvl 18 now!
Please let us know if you intend to fix this to save me deleting my character, its making playing Charrs seriously unpleasant!
