Achievement-Harpoon Master

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Tiger Ashante.1792

I have 3 characters that use Harpoon Guns under water. My Harpoon Master achievement should have completed a long time ago. I didn’t notice it hadn’t until about a month ago, but i’ve been watching it ever since and it definitely isn’t progressing at all.

I have a feeling this achievement stopped progressing when i crafted ascended Harpoon guns for my characters. I don’t know why that should be an issue as it clearly says on the weapon description that it’s a harpoon gun, yet i’ve had it tracked and no credit is given for kills, regardless which character i use it with ie: Warrior or my 2 Rangers. It’s stuck at 2708 and i vaguely recall it being around that figure when i crafted the ascended Harpoon guns way back when, hence the assumption that it’s because of them this achievement isn’t progressing. So it’s either that, or these weapons are labeled incorrectly, or the achievement itself is bugged. I hope this can be fixed soon, or at least looked into.
Thanks

UHD 4K UI

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Tiger Ashante.1792

I too bought 4k UHD tv recently that i play gw2 on, but i can’t run it at 4k at all. the UI is so tiny i can’t even read anything, despite my tv being 60" lol. what i also have issue with is that i can’t scroll within the windows of my UI elements, such as crafting or chat window. The only thing it works in, is in my inventory but for everything else, i have to put the cursor way outside the windows, which is really weird and so time consuming i don’t even bother. But manually using the side scroll bar on them windows, is really tedious and cumbersome as well, but at least somewhat accurate. The only way i can get the scrolling back, is to go back to my old res. of 1920×1080 but that makes the whole UI huge!

I found if i run 2560×1440 and use larger UI setting option, i can read the text reasonably well, but not being able to scroll my menus normally as i used to and not being able to run at 4k res has kind of defeated the purpose of getting a 4k UHD monitor since i can’t actually run it at 4k. So yea, feel a bit disappointed to say the least.

Workshop 2 Restoration Upgrade

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Tiger Ashante.1792

Tiger Ashante.1792

This upgrade has insane cost compared to the other restoration 2 thingies in the guild, here is the list of mats needed :

500 watchwork sprocket
500 mithril ingots
400 vials of linseed oil 400*0,73 = 292 gold
50 airship oil
1000 therm reagent
400 orichalcum ing 400*0,10 = 40 gold
50 elonian leather square !!! 50*13,10 gold = 675 gold!
400 quartz crystal

withouth calculating the others it comes to 1007 gold at the very minimal for 1 freaking upgrade anet please look at this 1 upgrade again and cut the cost down by like 3/4 ths.

I’ll never forgive Anet for taking my 50 Elonian leathers for that pathetic upgrade. That cost me almost 2 sets of ascended armor (not to mention rest of the costs) that took me almost a year to accumulate. Shame on you and the workshop isn’t even that spectacular for all that money and effort, not even close to Arena which was relatively cheap to restore, or the Market, or the War Room for that matter. The 2 costliest and most annoying upgrades, the Workshop 2 and the Tavern 2, are the most underwhelming to look at. Totally upset by them actually, but the OCD in me had to have those buildings restored. They made them look dreadful just to taunt me till I parted with all my hard earned gold and mats.

To add insult to injury, that expensive workshop 2 restoration has a bug in it, an invisible obstacle right b4 the nodes. I’ve sent a bug report with an image of my char standing in air on this invisible thing that i always get stuck on as i approach the nodes and that was ages ago now, but ofc nothing’s been done about it. Whoever thought up this upgrade system must hate us players, coz the guild upgrading is not fun, it’s an abuse of us as players and of our play time.

mobs and story quests

Tiger Ashante.1792

Sometimes you just get overrun with mobs, and cant do a thing. And the problem i have with them, is, pretty much every single one slow you, which is a pain, when you are trying to get from A to B, and have to run pas a million mobs you aggro
Im on the quest Mystery cave. What a joke, this quest is so god kitten ridicules. A mob spawns that you can’t kill, that puts out your flames. How fast the AOE’s pop up, and the time it takes to place the fires is a joke. Seriously, how the hell can this quest be done. Plus the kittening perma slow is there, so it takes ages to walk around in that ……. circle… Who ever designs these things, in this game, have NO buisness developing games. What a joke

In the Mystery Cave’s final encounter, there’s a pattern to the fight. as soon as u start lighting the fires, one of those invulnerable mobs will spawn to put them out, but u can range them real easy with the torch that Rox throws u, just make sure u have one handy and hang onto it till it spawns. If you don’t dispatch it b4 it gets to the fire, it will put it out and prolong the whole encounter.

Make sure u have stability of some kind equipped either via utility or traits, condi removal is very helpful and speed buff helps too. Buff yourself up to the hilt with some HP regen food, anything that will help u through the fight. I remember how difficult that fight was for me the first time, not knowing the mechanics and what to expect, by my 10th character doing it, i was a pro at it lol. Well good luck and if ur still having problems add me and contact me in the game and i’ll come help you.

Why can't Non-HoT users Decorate their Halls?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Tiger Ashante.1792

Tiger Ashante.1792

I don’t really understand why people are complaining about this? Guild halls are a part of the expansion, HoT— thus if you want all the features that accompany them, you have to purchase HoT. It seems pretty simple to me.

Nobody “needs” guild halls, and nobody is going to die without access to their features. Complaining how lame it is that a company doesn’t just give them stuff for free (when it’s advertised as part of a paid product) seems very childish to me.

It works no differently than how it does in real life— unless said otherwise, if you want a product, you pay for it. No, your fun will not be ruined without this QoL/cosmetic feature… and if it is, then I would seriously consider rethinking your mentality.

Well perhaps i can clarify.

1stly, buffs were not part of the expansion. They were there from launch of the game and available to every member well b4 HoT came out in a form of banners. We…I worked my butt off to earn influence to unlock those banners. Come HoT, they took them away, repackaged them into expansion and forced us…me to donate/spend 1000’s upon 1000’s of every material under the sun and 1000’s of gold to unlock them again! And to top it off, they denied them to members who didn’t own HoT.

2ndly, they further locked them behind scribing, which is only available to HoT owners, which is fair enough, but now we have to lvl up scribing to even be able to make them. Is the picture clearer now?

One does not need guild halls you say, but consider this, they’ve locked all those benefits we used have and have already paid for/worked for behind a pay wall that is guild hall and HoT. If you don’t own a guild hall and u don’t grind for mats/gold till ur eyes bleed to unlock all them features again, you got nothing to offer ur members, nothing! There’s no benefit whatsoever for them to be in ur guild.

And don’t even get me started on how they shafted small guilds with advent of HoT, after promising not to leave them behind. Well we all know how that went, or perhaps there isn’t many left to know. Small guilds were the backbone of this community and many of them have long departed and i think the game is paying the price for it now in a major way.

Why can't Non-HoT users Decorate their Halls?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Tiger Ashante.1792

Tiger Ashante.1792

Dear Anet, Why are Non-Hot users not allowed to decorate their guild halls? My guild leader does not have HoT, nor is she going to buy it any time soon. You allow her to remove decorations but you will not allow her to place them? You even tease non-hot users with the decoration skill bar including seeing the decorations when they use skill 6 to bring up the list. But you stop them from placing why?

You do realize that’s removing the fun for some ppl. Since some ppl only enjoy the decorations or dressing up their toon. And if there is no fun, nothing to enjoy in the game, then why play?

All i ask is that you change this. Allow the non-hot users to decorate, you are already halfway there afterall. Besides it makes no sense for them not to be allowed to, since they can enter the guild hall and see the decorations when the HoT users place them, plus they can remove them if they are authorized to do so.

I didn’t know u could even get a guild hall if the leader of it didn’t own HoT? Hmf, u learn something every day lol.

On another note, what i find even worse than not letting members without HoT to decorate, is that they can’t use guild buffs at the tavern that every guild member is able to contribute to unlocking and upgrading.

I own 2 accts. My main has the HoT but my 2nd acct has only bought the core game when it was still available for purchase and even though i bought the original game for that acct, i’m still not allowed to use my own guild buffs or decorations or spar in the arena on that acct, but i’m allowed to donate materials for upgrades to my heart’s content. Now that is lame to me and i have no doubt it’s turned off more members from HoT than make them buy it. It’s certainly upset me enough where i’ve stomped my foot on the ground with determination not to buy a 2nd copy of HoT, even though i had planned on doing so. It’s the principle of it, that they’re dictating what my members can and can’t use in my guild hall that i’ve poured 1000’s of gold into in a way of mats and liquid gold to upgrade and unlock for all members, not just haves and have nots.

Festivals for the Rest of Us

Tiger Ashante.1792

Now that Wintersday and the New year have been made primarily human festivals set in Divinity’s Reach, and now that we have SAB as an Asuran right of passage event, would it be possible to make events for the other races? Could Meatoberfest be expanded with competitive games and such in the Black Citadel? How about some sort of festival the multitude of animal spirits in Hoelbrak. A spring festival in the Grove might work, perhaps as an aspect of The Dream.

Even half-kittened festivals for Quaggans and Skritt (they are trying so hard to be taken seriously) would flesh out Tyria very nicely. Skritt toss anyone? I like this game world. I want to see it grow.

I suggested something like this maybe a year ago now, if not longer that we should have more festivals, racial or otherwise, why not have summer fest in summer? harvest one in autumn or w/ever, but its something they could cycle through during content drought. I think the festivals in gw2 are too specific to real world events and can’t be put on at any time to just provide some filler entertainment. We need something purely gw2 oriented, like the dragon bash or Labyrinthine cliffs for eg that can be thrown into the game at any time.

Could we please get acknowledgement from someone at ArenaNet that at least they’ve seen this thread and are looking into these problems?

Even today, i went to do the guild rush in Southsun Cove and my chat reset once again just as i was about to launch the mission and when i then opened the Mission tab, it was completely blank. I was forced to leave the map in order for missions to reappear in the guild panel.

This is getting very frustrating. I don’t know if you realize just how hard it is to rally people to do this guild rush, everyone hates it and then having to deal with this kind of problem discourages them even more. I would appreciate it to at least know these issues have been noted and are being investigated.

You can type /age in chat which will tell u how old ur char is.

I realise they need to make money with bags/bank tabs etc. but i’m sure like myself, many ppl are maxed out on those. And it’s not a matter of that either, it’s more about the hassle of having to juggle keys between chars. With gw2 running full throttle on clock, timers for everything, wasting time switching chars, trying to remember who has what, is a pain. Fingers crossed they add this soon, it’s really badly needed.

Has the map draw been removed? Or is it a bug? If former, i’d be extremely upset, it’s always been one of my fav features in gw franchise and unique to it and i’ve seen many streamers and new players comment how cool that feature is, something they’ve never seen b4. I’d be a real shame if it’s been removed. Please someone confirm what’s going on. Thanks.

What chat was it? By chance was it Party chat? Well, I have been suffering a similar issue for months. Out of nowhere the game would put me “offline” without a disconnect, but then I would get a message telling me that my friends came online (but they already was), that I’m no longer in a party and then all party chat vanishes, as if I had left the party and then joined again. At the same time, the guild chat would spam the Message of Day again, as if I had just logged on or swapped guilds.

Yes exactly that, but it doesn’t matter which chat i’m in, it happens in any. i’ve been whispering ppl when it happens, guild chatting, map chatting it happens on any and even when i haven’t used the chat for a while, but guild chat seems to reset most frequently for me, probably coz i use that the most idk.

I used to get lot of game messages, “cannot connect to the guild server” at the same time, but that happens less lately and it usually separately to the chat reset now.

I have 2 accts that use the same gw2 log in client and this issue occurs on both of them. I have repaired my client and it didn’t fix it, although it does seem to happen less frequently now, say 1-2 times a day instead of 6 times a day as before.

Basically, out of the blue, my chat will reset, losing all chat history. It especially happens frequently in the guild hall. This is really frustrating, particularly when doing guild missions and explaining what needs to be done to ppl who aren’t on voice chat. You spend 10 min explaining how to do guild trek to a first timer for eg: and poof, chat resets and you lose everything you just said. What adds to the problem is that it doesn’t seem be happening to everyone.

For me, this has bee going on for months now and i’ve bee hoping each patch it would be fixed but so far it hasn’t. I don’t even see it listed on known issues, so that explains why it hasn’t been addressed.

Plz devs look into this as soon as u can, thanks.

Suggestion: Shared Slots and Harvest Tools

Tiger Ashante.1792

I have 10x infinite gathering tool sets and 10x infinite copper salvage kit. then they bring the shared slots and now i got one copper salvage kit in one of them and the other 9 are rotting on my chars. Same with the gathering tools, put a set in shared inv and did as the poster above said, equip a set of normal tools and just switch them out for different chars. again rest of the 9 sets are just being wasted. I guess i shouldn’t have bothered with the shared inv, but (as if i hadn’t already wasted enough money in this game) i continue to support it for some reason. Hoping things would get better i guess.

Anyway, it would be nice if they offered us some kind of exchange for something nice, digital pixels don’t cost them much and they could use something already in the game. It would certainly make me feel more valued as a customer who’s spent $1000’s in this game. I’ve heard there was an opportunity to seek a refund after shared inv was introduced, but i didnt’ know about it. I guess it wasn’t well publicized if at all. In any case, i heard it was offered only to those who had just purchased those tools/salvage kits prior to the shared slots introduction so i wouldn’t have qualified anyway since i bought mine some time ago.

Ah well, no more spending for me i guess.

I haven’t read all the posts above, but most of them and you’re not taking into account that these bosses appear in low lvl zones and many players participating may not be lvl 80, geared as well as u, or hardened by HoT. For those players that are on lvl, this battle would be extremely hard and they probably get 1 shot by any of these champs if hit, let alone the executioner. Give a bit of thought eh?

There are lot of new players in this game, first timers and ur all talking about as if everyone is max lvl and has experienced the end game content and so forth. Imo for those lvl zones and ppl trying to fight these bosses on lvl. they’re way op for them.

So they removed the WvW from world completion so as not to force people doing game modes they don’t enjoy and now they added this to FORCE people to play WvW if they want their Leg weaps completed. Hmm, brilliant, i wonder how many people are gonna quit over this one!

Anet, why don’t u fix the real bugs that have been in the game since year dot instead of creating more gating and grind for this ever shrinking community? Why don’t u fix our minis not reappearing, while u still have the gall to sell them in the gems store? Why aren’t u fixing the nodes popping everywhere and nodes that says rich mithril but only lets u mine 3 chunks in Silverwastes? I know, not as important as creating gatings and grind, but we the players have to deal with those issues day in and day out.

Why don’t u balance the leather drops so that we can craft our ascended armor in the next few years? Or the umpteenth events that keep breaking every time there’s a new patch. Or why don’t u fix the guild bugs, the broken chat system, the guildies ability to enter a guild hall with more than 5 ppl without being kicked, the broken node system that when u upgrade ur nodes, it won’t let u gather nodes from ur alt guilds, the invisible textures left behind when restoring the workshop 2 (that costs a budges of a small nation) that makes u get stuck on it as u approach the nodes?

These are just a few examples of what u could be doing to improve our experience. Mo said in his thread giving us reasons for postponing indefinitely HoT Legendary Weapons, “my job is to entertain you”. Prove it Mo. removing gift merchant and forcing ppl to grind WvW to earn again what they already earned isn’t entertainment. It’s abuse of player’s time and enjoyment of the game.

People arguing that gift of battle was too easy to get and was free, are not considering that whether we played WvW to earn the badges or not, we still had to earn them by earning achievement points, that doesn’t make them free. And considering they nerfed how many badges u get per achievement chest, it takes at least 2-3 to earn enough badges to get one gift of battle. That’s a lot of work and effort in anyone’s yes and certainly don’t make the gift free.

I hate the awkward instancing system that the halls have. Why does it have to be a 5 man instance at start? That means that there is constant switching of instances even outside of guild mission times.

At mission times it means that first 5 people entering the hall do not even get the switch notice since they’re still loading, and they have to go all the way out and in again and hope that the others won’t get instance switch notice when they’re out. :P

This instancing thing is what bothers me the most.

Easy way to fix it would be to make it start as 15 man instance instead of 5.

They need to do something and fast. The guild system and tools available to us is in abysmal state. We don’t even have a mass mailout system so we can send a blanket email to our guild members. I know gw2 name doesn’t mean its guild focused game, but that’s what most new ppl looking at this game think. They’d be shocked once they find out the state of the guilds, especially if they decided to run one.

I feel guilds have been neglected since launch of the game (bar them introducing guild missions, which in themselves are often bugged) and it’s come to bite them in the face. Some of the issues have been here for a long time and even when they fix some of them, the next patch or a guild upgrade bugs them out again, which means they haven’t fixed them properly in the first place.

I’ve not even touched upon guild mission rewards and how they randomly bug out, where one day they work, next day they don’t.

It’s absolutely mindless what they have done with leather, they went overboard as usual, even with thick leather that was in abundance prior to this. Now it’s required for everything and elonial leather has been added to all ascended armor crafting, where b4 that wasn’t the case. I seriously question if ppl in charge of these things have any idea what they’re doing.

Running a guild in this game has been awful for me, but lately, it’s unbearable. Almost every area of the guild system is bugging out all the time.

Every time i try to organize a guild mission, where i’m having to train new ppl, do a lot of explaining etc, i go to launch the mission and suddenly the entire chat resets and other than roster panel, all others go blank, including the mission window. This happens so often, it’s driving me crazy. It can happen anywhere, but if we gather in the guild hall, it’s guaranteed to happen and the only way to start the mission, is to rezone. Even when not running the missions, my guild chat keeps resetting, wiping all conversations, truly frustrating experience.

If more than 5 ppl are in my squad and enter guild hall, we’re immediately warned the map is closing in 5 min, seriously?

Every time i upgrade nodes in my own guild hall, it prevents me gathering nodes in my alt guilds, that again!

Please, for the love of god, fix the guild systems. Running a guild in gw2 is a very painful experience, not to mention exhausting. I’m sad to admit, this game has the worst guild system i’ve ever experienced and 4 years in, it’s only getting worse.

I’ve been plagued with this problem on and off for years, but had a decent break from it for a few months, then just in the past month or so it started happening again. It’s so debilitating, especially in HoT. Often time, my cursor completely locks or disappears too, making the game unplayable.

I’ve tried all kids things on my end and i’m convinced the problem lies with the game, since this issue only occurs in gw2. For me, i don’t know what causes it, but often it happens when I load into a new map, i can’t move for ages. But it happens randomly at anytime, when i’m just running around (not dodging, fighting or anything) just running along.

On a side note, for about a month now as well, my loading time has quadrupled. I got fast SDD and used to load really fast, now it’s as slow as.

i actually think it is better if you can get people to care about ur guild because they care about it and not because they mechanically have to (this guild or the highway buddy)

Yeah sounds great on paper, have u tried it?

also i think if they take all the incentives of going to towns out of the game (i.e. trading post, crafting stations) that would end up being bad for the game
people would have less to no reason to go to towns, newbies would enter them and worry the game is dead and perhaps be turned off because of it

Really? You think that’s the reason behind it? You don’t think the only reason they don’t add those services to Guild Halls is b/c they want to sell their Airshp and Royal Terrace passes? I mean if u had those conveniences in Guild Hall, who would need those passes?

Had they added those services to Guild Halls, spending 10s of thousands of materials and gold may actually have some worth. As is, Guild Halls are basically useless, most ppl don’t even bother going there. The massive mats and gold sinks gets u virtually nothing for your efforts, it’s a meaningless system. Granted some bigger guilds who do have lots of members donating and maxing out the guild hall, may have some minor benefits but really, for most part, its a useless system benefiting no one, other than looking pretty.

Hello i run a 250 + member guild and i have some issues with representing, i am trying to make a guild that has a strong community of active players that will be invested in our guild, however that is hard when anet made it so you can have 5 guild and not rep any of them while still technically be a part of it or 1 main and 4 extra. if you ask people for mandatory rep you are looked at as an kitten for demanding that but if you dont and have a guild full of people not repping or giving a kitten how can you grow the guild. This goes to anet developers fix your broken guild system and go back to how gw1 did it kitten have 1 guild and have that guild be in allience of other guilds you know like in gw1 !? that way you have cross guild chat there are no representing issues and everyone is happy.

also on a short note add a guild trading post merchant to guild halls its very annoying having to port outside to pick mats i need for scribing, and you cant asume everyone has mass stacks of black lion tp mechant summons or 2k gold to buy one (permanent).

I agree with you. I’ve been saying from launch of the game i hate this guild system and my opinion hasn’t changed, if anything it has strengthened. The only people who enjoy this system are players who like to guild hop and see what they can get out of a particular guild. They can get into number of guilds so easily at any time, that if a guild leader asks or says anything they don’t even slightly like, they simply leave without a word. I’ve been in situations where i’ve spent lot of time helping a newbie member and once they picked your brains and got what they wanted, they simply leave without as much as thank you or an explanation why they’re leaving.

Furthermore, what makes this system awful, is that guild leaders have no tools to keep in touch with their members, especially those not representing. One of the most basic systems is missing from this game (the only game that doesn’t have it even compared to 10 yo games) is the mass mail out to your members. So i want to do a guild mission, i have to individually send email to each member or whisper them, can u imagine the time that takes? Sure i put in my very limited MotD that we run Guild Missions on such and such a day, but if a member isn’t representing your guild, he don’t see that message to remind him. He only sees MotD of the guild they’re representing.

ESO seems to have adopted gw2’s 5 guild system, but at least they have improved it by adding mass mail out system to members and also, members only show on the roster of the guild they choose to represent. I still hate the 5 guild system, but at least ESO made it bearable and more manageable.

Another problem here, is you don’t know if the members not representing your guild are actually monitoring your guild chat unless they actually choose to say something in ur guild chat. So you’re supposed to once again whisper them individually? This system sucks, i hate it and I’m getting to the point where i just want to disband my guild, which would really hurt since i created it at head start. But tbh, i’m tired of running a guild in gw2, it’s a pain and a headache and i’m completely losing interest in persisting with this convoluted system that only favors members and shafts the efforts of the guild leaders, not to mention, puts a huge additional amount of stress and workload on them due to lack of tools at their disposal.

When HoT came and with the announcement of Guild Halls, I had really hoped they would change and fix some of these issues, but nah, they’ve too busy coming up with the mind-numbing boring grind for massive numbers of mats and gold needed for guild hall upgrades. It is especially awful for small guilds, this whole system is a disgrace and i don’t know for the life of me why i stuck with it for so long. I guess i was hoping and waiting for things to change, but after HoT launched, I realise that will never happen.
I still remember Collin Johanson stating on twitch with his big smile, “Don’t worry, small guilds will not be left behind”. Yeah, right.

Update: I just completed the bear race in Lonar Pass again for Guardians of Divinity (GOD), in conjunction with another guild, got the credit for the guild and earned the favor, but no personal reward even after the timer ran out.

Just prior to this, i completed the Southsun race, same as above in conjunction with another guild, after there was 8/15 races on the UI, i got the personal reward chest and at 15/15 i was able to accept the credit for the guild as well. Very inconsistent what is going on here.

Guild Investigation: Guild Race Rewards

I ran a solo guild quaggan race in Frostgorge Sound yesterday, 25th May. I was representing Guardians of Divinity (GOD). I completed the race and got credit on the UI 1/15 races completed, but didn’t get the usual reward credit of the bouncy chest. I waited till the timer ran out and still nothing. I ran this race on my 2nd acct.

Just now, I ran a solo and completed the bear run in Lonar Pass on my main account. Representing the same guild as above. Finished the race 2 times and still no reward. Again the UI showed I completed 2 races but even after the timer ran out i still got no reward.

This week is the first time i have encountered this bug. In fact, i completed the Southsun Cove run earlier this week soon after reset and got my reward. In this case, another guild had activated the race and i then activated mine and completed just 1 race to get my reward. I ran it solo again, for the same guild as above. The time of day/night i did these races vary so can’t tell u the exact time.

However, the Southsun cove was ran b4 the last mini patch 2 days ago, relating to a fix of Cow Pies and it worked fine, while the last 2 races that didn’t give rewards were done post that patch. I have a feeling (at least for me) that patch bugged out my rewards somehow. I’ve been having other odd issues since then too, where i open the guild panel and all guild info is blank except the main guild roster window. If i zone into a different map, the info returns. I’ve also been getting these messages quite often “cannot connect to the guild server”. This message has been popping up for a long while though and when it does, all information on the guild panel disappears briefly.

Hope this helps u catch the culprit, good luck!

Why the unrelenting pressure to do JPs?

Why? It has been a steadily mounting pressure.

I would guess that at least half of the ones done as dailies are not actually even done.. or more, since people will portal to get them. Your metrics on how many complete them will be so skewed they are meaningless.

Why is it so important to Anet that we do these things? What happened to play “our” way?

Why do you feel you have to herd us around like a pack of Pre Schoolers?

I’m honestly curious. And yes, I’m fine with not getting a Daily JP done, or anything related to a JP done. I’ve managed 3 years here and done 4 puzzles.. 3 by porting, 1 by paying my son to do it.

I’d just like to know why it is so important to push platforming as “normal” game play and why it is not considered an activity and put in that category.

I know what u mean OP, i decided to do the collection for the new legendary shortbow, heard it had a fun collection/story etc. omg 90% of it was JP’s all the way to making the precursor. It was annoying, boring and mindless a potential for great story lost. The only redeeming factor in all of that, was that i got those cute tiger cubs, but i’d never do it again.

And yes, i agree with u OP, Jp’s and various jumping games are being shoved and forced upon us in every aspect of the game now. I totally resent being forced to have to do all them kittened adventures to complete my HoT masteries. I cannot even describe my annoyance. So i completely sympathies with you and agree, that gw2 is done a 180 turn once again in allowing us to “play how we want” and it’s getting worse every time they add a piece of content.

I can confirm as well, both airship and lions arch activity npcs on Jade Quarry is bugged.
The one on airship still has her activity icon on, but just greets u when u interact with her, but the one in LA doesn’t even have icon, nor do u have option to interact with her at all.

I can confirm this daily is bugged on Jade Quarry too, i just done not one, but 4 ruins and none of them counted, combined with the activity npcs bugged in both LA and airship, i’m unable to complete my daily, as i don’t have the time to do that ridiculously long Jumping Puzzle in Malchor Leap. I hope we get credit for this since since we have done it, once it’s fixed.

I looked into this as I was playing the other day. I thought I’d found the solution when I shut down Dialog Volume, but the problem is, when you do that you lose not just the NPC chatter but essential gameplay info that you want to / need to have. To continue to get that info one could rely on text dialog boxes, but I found that occasionally I was facing the wrong direction, and with audible dialog off, I missed a few instructions, directions, or tips I needed. So it was back to running like a centaur and healing as one and Koda being judge and jury and talking cabbages until… well… the dolyaks come home.

I don’t imagine it’s possible to go too fine-grained on the options. If you look at the choices now, there are quite a few. And certainly there are other things that would be a higher priority for change, if change was even contemplated. But it’s good to have feedback on this subject, and I’ll see if I can learn anything about it.

Thank you for looking into it, Gaile. It goes without saying that there are always things with a higher priority but I don’t think what we need is more options, just an extension on the already existing intervals in some npc’s dialogue loops. For example the SW guy who babbles about Mordremoth attacking the pale tree. He has one line and repeats it every 30 seconds. Extend that to minutes and you’ve made a world of difference with little effort. Over time, gradually extend the dialogue intervals of other npcs in high traffic areas. Or, better, move them slightly away from the merchants they’re standing beside. This would be a small but effective start to a more living world. Just a thought.

I agree with this, we don’t want our NPC’s muted or silenced, but say a 3-5 minute intervals between their repeating comments would be 1000 times better. And same goes for our characters, if they make it so they don’t have to comment on the same boon/boost every time it happens, but say every 5th time, it would be 1000 times better. Same could be said if they added more varied comments to our characters, that would help too, but i guess that’s more expensive and time consuming then adjusting the numbers. They could add this in new content like living world, or expansion, since they have to do V/O for those anyway, but any of the above options would be better than what we have now.

Also, moving the non-essential NPC’s away from essential ones is another good way of alleviating the aggravation, in fact why not do both? We can still hear them if they’re some distance away, imo, it would even add to immersion.

BTW, do i need to keep all those previous items form the earlier collections? some of them have vendor value but others don’t currently i have like 8-10 of these things in my bags but too scared to throw them away at this stage.

The items that say “Huntsmen” on them you’ll need for crafting and the items you get from salvaging precursors. Keep the Den Map and Baby Books and etc so you can use them to summon Tiger cubs on alts. All the trophies are probably safe to sell although I kept every item till I finished the Precursor, personally.

yeah, i did that as well, but i have finished the precursor now, but still now sure if i should keep them or not, wish they would tell u what u need to keep to save the confusion.

You need to to create another Blank Crude Book thingy. Not sure how you got that far without the Recipe but talking to the first NPC in Lornars Pass (I think that’s the place) should give you recipe. I had to talk to him on my Huntsmen to get another Recipe cuz my non attentiveness ate it on my Thief who doesn’t have Huntsmen.

Oh ok Doggie tnx a lot i’ll try that, i’m sure i still have THAT recipe, but it’s not the one i thought had to craft lol.

Has anyone obtained the baby book? I just got the Tiger Den Map and the tooltip on the next part, being the baby book, says to speak to Cymbel once i obtained the said Tiger Den Map, but when i talk to her, she just says, have u got the book for me?

I thought she may have mentioned i need to craft another book for her, but during the conversation with her the Ogres attacked the camp and I got distracted, so not sure if i’m right about this. However, i assumed she wanted me to craft the book, but i never got the recipe for it, nor can i find it in the crafting panel. I’ve looked in both huntsman and leatherworker but nothing. What am i missing here? or is this bugged? any help would be appreciated.

Tiger Ashante.1792

Uh… no?

Representing still has meaning. Many players (including myself and I even run a guild) are part of multiple guilds because each different guild is for different things (PvE, WvW, roleplaying, and so on).

Repping or not, all the members in my guild still talk to eachother thanks to the shared guild chat system so communication is NOT an issue and they all still contribute and participate in our guild events and helping our guild hall grow.

Edit:
It looks like you just have a problem with members in your guild being interested in being in that guild. The repping feature has nothing to do with that.

Well i’m happy for you, but that is not my experience. I know many guild leaders and they’re all experiencing same problems.

I guess what i personally don’t like, is that members in multi guilds can chat in ur guild even when not representing it, you have no idea if they actually are watching ur chat or not. Even worse, they can listen in and espy what is going on in ur guild, but you have no idea what they’re up to if they don’t bother to tell u. In order words, guild leaders have been brought down, lost control, while members have been enervated with this new chat system as well as this notion ‘why even bother repping anymore.’ I’m starting to wonder, why even bother having guilds any more eh?

Since HoT apparently removed the importance of representing a guild according to many in the community, why not get rid of it completely and call it a day. Just show members who are online/offline in ur guild and be done with it, that way everyone is in every guild they wanna be in and everyone is happy, right?

Imo, the only thing repping does right now, is it gives the guild leaders annoying big headache to try and keep their guild together. Members not repping the guild, never bother to interact with the guild members who ARE repping and they’re there just as a reminder they don’t really care for ur guild or anyone in it. I hate that little oval greyed out green symbol against their name and when u hover over it, the bracketed message that says (not representing). So please get rid of it we don’t need it any more.

How Do you Feel About Multiple Guilds?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Tiger Ashante.1792

Tiger Ashante.1792

Are you For it? Why do you like it?
Are you against it? Why do you dislike it?

My Personal Position:

Guilds are an extremely (if not the most) important aspect of an MMO (Of any kind), but specially of an MMORPG.

It’s my belief as a designer, that a guild is the “heart” of the game. The Blood are the people that play it, and the nutrients are the Objectives and goals along the way.

When i first saw this system i was curious about it, I was hoping it would work out in a positive manner, but what i have experienced is negative aspects from it and no real benefit other then players “using” guilds to get something.

For this reason, I am strongly against it because it robs guilds of identity; it seems very spam-ish like many aspects of guild war two (you dev’s really need to do some quality control on these designs).

I believe the best multi-guild/clan/corporation/etc Option out there was presented by CCP’s Eve online “alliance”, where multiple guilds (with potentially different focus’s) banded together for community effort. Often this lread to people using one VOIP Program like Teamspeak, Ventrilo Etc to form a sort of Mega-guild.

I have really not seen any major problems from this system out side of the normal (drama) behavior that people have which is already present in the game(s) of late.

So I advocate for a system change to this aspect of GW2 to improve it, or remove it so we can give guilds back their identities, and help the community come together in its respective groups, with their respective goals and form friends.

the real thing that provides retention rates (are guilds with identities, and purpose).

Ever since gw2 launched, I’ve hated the 5-guild system they introduced. This kind of system does not foster loyalty or a healthy guild community, but rather, creates animosity and resentment, particularly since u can see members on ur roster that are in ur guild but never bother to represent it, or interact with the guild members.

This system makes the guild leader’s job almost impossible if they want to have a cohesive and friendly guild membership. Some may think repping is not important anymore since influence has been removed, but imo it’s just as important as ever to keep the guild together, where people actually get to know each other and want to do things together, instead of this guild hopping garbage we have.

What most people do now, is they join 5 guilds and hop form one to another raiding their guild halls for nodes and buffs, but contribute little to the development of the guild itself. And if u say anything, they just leave and join another and keep going on their merry go round, while the guild leaders are left pulling their hair out.

What would fix this? Remove the 5 guild system all together and re-introduce the gw1 alliance system with proper alliance chat, not this crap /g1, /g2,/g3 etc chat that is so cumbersome to use with multiple guilds.

Or least they can do, is give us guild leaders option to filter out the members not representing the guild so they don’t show up on the roster. Out of sight out of mind.

What Happened to Hardened Leather?

Since Hot launched i’ve barely gotten any of this leather from any source. How am i supposed to upgrade guild hall that requires tons of the hard leather squares, while also trying to make Kudzu that requires a stack of it?

To give u one tiny example, today i ran SW full cycle meta and got tons of loot bags, salvage gear etc, and guess how many hard leather i got out of it all? 1 A single pce of leather!

Seriously, this is ridiculous, no wonder hard leather squares cost 35s ea or more. There’s none to be found, at least not for me.

Please Anet fix this we need that leather more than ever.
Thank you.

Why do SAB rewards disappear so quick?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

With the exception of world 1, every other stage has like a 40-second (or more) timer before the chest disappears and you port to the next stage. So saying “within seconds” is quite an exaggeration. And there’s usually a checkpoint like right there, even if you do die.

I can’t speak to baubles from enemy mobs as I almost never play with a group in SAB anyway.

Regardless of the time, i didn’t exactly measure it, it seems like seconds to me, the game should never decide to kick you from a map, it should always be a player’s choice, nor should the chests/loot disappear until u collect it. SAB isn’t a race per se, why make it a race getting your rewards or they vanish b4 your eyes?

Edit: Put it this way, this is the one thing about SAB that’s making it un-fun for me.

Why do SAB rewards disappear so quick?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Tiger Ashante.1792

Tiger Ashante.1792

I’m a bit frustrated with the way bubbles and especially the end chests disappear so fast. It’s happened to me time and time again when playing with other ppl especially. Like they kill a mob, but if i’m not right there next to them, the bubbles disappear within seconds. Same with the chests.

I did the world 2 with my guildies and i slid away on the extremely slippery ice from the cage just b4 it was destroyed, had trouble getting back up and the chest disappeared within seconds and we got ported to another map, leaving me without a reward for all that effort. This really sucks, coz i lost out on all the bubbles and bubble bubbles. Why make it like this? ppl die during combat for eg: and they have no chance of getting their rewards b4 they’re snuffed away within a few seconds. Really unfair if u ask me.

We should have an option to stay or leave the map after destroying the cage/bosses and the chest should stay open until everyone collects their rewards, regardless if ur solo or in a group. If another party member kills a mob, the bubble should stay there until it is collected by everyone, don’t u think? After all, big part of doing SAB is to collect the bubbles and when ur denied them coz u died or u were a bit faraway form the mob killed ur being severely punished for it.

Another thing i noticed, is there seem to be a bug where if a bubble is dropped on a prop, like say side of a log or whatever, u cannot collect it even when ur standing right on top of it.
