Most of it is already soloable. Even cof path 1 is soloable if you have 5 account(and I actually tried it).

What do u mean if u have 5 accounts? am i to understand you’re saying having 5 gw2 accounts? and if so, you want me to play 5 different accounts at once? geez, no tnx. lol. How’s that even possible, certainly not for me coz u know, i ain’t superwoman.

Since it seems no one is doing dungeons any more, at least not whenever i’ve been looking for groups, why not give us a solo mode so people who still need to explore them for achievements, do story mode and collect tokens for the old legendary weapons can do so? Obviously this is possible since you did it for Arah story mode, why not extend that to all dungeons and all modes as an optional thing.

Ok i’ve just had it happen again, by using one of them halloween foods that transforms you, in this case a spider, and yea when i went to mine an ore, i got a ruined one. Hopefully Anet, you can fix this soon?

I’ve experienced this a few times now since HoT launched. I use permanent gathering tools and it happens to me when i get transformed.

For eg: that bandit camp in Brisban Wildlands where u become transformed into a bandit to do the heart quest in there, there are often nodes inside and i would gather them even after completing the heart with no problems. Now, if you try to gather them, u get 100% ruined mats, but only on wood or ore. The plants seem to be fine. Also, I think it happens if ur skills get transformed for w/ever reason, but i’m not 100% sure on this one. I seem to remember an incident in Auric Basin when my skills got swapped with those glint ones and there’s a part where u seem to be actually in open world while still having those skills. I remember seeing a node of ore and got all ruined chunks form it.

Edit: The Auric Basin incident happened during the story mission.

lol that one gets so repetitive, I totally understand the other npc when he goes “hmmmm”, like jesus christ woman kitten already xD

Omg yes, i can’t stand those 2 NPC. They’re just as bad, if not worse, as those NPC’s in SW, or that annoying sylvari banker in LA. What is it with Anet? why are they doing this? To drive their players crazy? They deliberately put these annoying NPCs with their repetitive dialogues either right next to essential services, or the essential service NPCs themselves. I literally avoid LA bank and SW as much as possible and now, I’m avoiding Tarir as well.

The 2 NPC you mention in Tarir are unbearable. Once again, they’ve placed them very close to the only merchant there and they repeat the same sentence instantly over and over and over without pause. This is not only obnoxious, but very disrespectful of the players’ immersion. Sometimes it’s nice to have a peaceful moment while trading one’s goods and need to concentrate a bit so u don’t salvage or sell that wrong item. But that is impossible in gw2 these days without muting the sound.

I asked, no begged and i’m not the only one, to reduce that LA banker’s commentary when they first updated LA and i know many people have asked the same for those NPCs in SW. But not only have they ignored our pleas, they instead gave us even worse NPC to listen to in HoT.

It really boggles the mind why they want to destroy the player’s sense of appreciation for the immense VO dialogues they’ve created, by over doing everything. Sometimes, less is more and as much as i love VO in games, I’m being forced to mute my sounds to preserve my sanity.

Is that what u want Anet? You paid all them actors money for VO’s and your players are muting them coz u made the NPC’s repeat them so frequently, you’re driving us crazy. I don’t need the banker greet me every time i run up to them, nor do i need to hear them greet every other player that approaches them. Maybe you can make it so we can only hear our own greetings or our own pc commentary etc or something.

So please do something to change it, or at least reduce the frequency by like 99% ty.

Hearing my Revenant constantly saying “May Lyssa confound you!” is extremely irritating. I don’t even do anything, just running normally, no skills, no fights, nothing and every once in a while you hear him say that for no apparent reason.

Heh u think that’s bad, my warrior on my 2nd acct, has been saying for almost a year now, “adrenalin full” in Asuran male voice, she’s a human female. As u can imagine, warrior’s adrenalin fills rather often and it grates so bad on my brain and breaks my immersion that i’ve basically stopped playing my warrior. I’ve reported it a long time ago and nothing has been done about it.

To top it off, she now also says “may lyssa confound you” all the time, giving me a double reason not to play her. It’s almost every time they add new dialogue to the game, they bug out all the classes commentary. It never used to be like that, but ever since they began HoT and particularly since they restored the PS, the the dialogues not just for NPC’s but our characters have become an annoying mess.

I think ur all mad lol. I guess i’m rather fed up of killing stuff non-stop, a bit too much of it in gw2, but i know some people like doing that all the time so if ur one of those, great, you’ll get plenty of it in this game i assure you.

Well perhaps i misunderstood the wording, it says “jump into the pit and kill chack” and i thought to myself, are u kidding me? i’m not jumping in there lol. But if u can actually pull them without jumping among them then yea, it may be doable.

BTW, does it have to be done during the initial story? Or can that segment be repeated for the achievement?

They’re just run of the mill collection items, and therefore you can just chuck em, unless they expressly say that they are a crafting material.

I now have 5 of these trophies sitting in my bank and fear how many more are to come. I haven’t really began Leg. journey as yet, i just acquired them killing world bosses such as jungle wurm etc.

Does anyone know if i will need these trophies for something later? or should i just delete them?

Elitists? ditto (well, they were actually being elitist before… yes, elitist in a game you can aa everything).

Bad players that refuse to adapt to the content that’s thrown at them? ditto.

BTW, why couldn’t you and the thief just refuge of shadows and commune with the hp? i did it with my thief on the balthazar hp and it worked wonders.

If you read my OP you would have seen i said i was already dead by the time any help arrived, i stayed alive as long as i could kiting the mobs, but they finally got me. The thief used shadow refuge to try rez me, he got me about a 1/3 up b4 it ran out and he had to runaway himself.

This doesn’t address the problem with communities and the other problematic HPs, but the HP in question can be gotten to without leyline gliding and without spiders. Go there before the meta event completes and follow this video:

However, it was still impossible for me to jump to the ledge from the root, due to my high ping rate i guess the kite kept failing b4 i could reach it, so i used experimental rifle jump shot, which also didn’t work initially but eventually it did and i got it! thank you, thank you.

I like the Rift system of participation. Even if u leave the map and go back to the city, u get ur reward scaled according to how much u participated. So if anything happens and u have to leave the area, u still get something. It’s a much friendlier and fairer system imo and you never have to worry about missing out on rewards, regardless on how small or big they are.

I agree, the gw2 system of losing progress if u change maps or get dc’d or w/ever is terrible and needs changing.

Lot of people are focusing on the ‘rezzing issue". Although I sighted that people rezz less in HoT, the main point i was trying to make is that people didn’t want to help me with the HP that required a largish group of people to kill the mobs and the spider queen champ, or to at least take attention from me while i commune with the Hero Challenge. I wasn’t dead for a long time, i kited the mobs while asking for help, in hope someone would come, but sadly only 1-2 people did individually, which simply wasn’t enough and sadly by then i was dead. I took me ages to successfully grab that lay line so waypointing would have made me miss it anyway as i would have been in even greater panic to get lay line up, which no doubt wouldn’t have worked.

Also, it’s not that i’m short on HP, but u HAVE to get every HP in all the maps to get a map completion, which in turns gives u gift of Maguma, which is required to craft the new legendary weapons.

Please note too, I do have Lay Line gliding, but the lay line up to the boss does not appear until the successful meta is done and frankly, for me, this lay line mastery is useless for most part due to my high ping rate. It rarely works. So that is not the issue and yes, I would agree with some comments that it’s content design that’s changing the player’s attitude. It’s kind of forced upon them really, but I would still had hoped some people would have spared a few minutes to help.

Since launch, GW2 prided itself as having one of the best, if not the best community of any MMO and rightly so. Always friendly, helpful and more than willing to assist those in need, at least this has been my experience and i’ve always done the same. I’ve lost count how many times i’ve died trying to help others.

But HoT has changed all that. Right now in HoT, i see fewer and fewer ppl willing to stop and rez others, or answer a call for help to kill that rabid champ on steroids and its hordes for that HP or w/ever else and it’s getting worse by the day. Even 2 weeks after HoT released, i noticed a decline in those willing to help others, eventhough they all know, these HP’s can’t be soloed. I’ve been in situations where i’ve spent an hour or two asking for assistance with a HP while trying to do events, especially in TD and DS and not one person would reply or come to help, even though i know there’s lots of people in the map.

Despite many difficulties, including my ridiculously high ping, I’ve almost completed DS, just need 1 HP. This last HP i need is guarded by the Spider Queen and is only accessible during the 15 min timer after the successful DS meta and i’ve been trying to get it for days now. Most times when i log in there, the map is deserted. I’d ask in map chat if anyone was there, but no one replies. I’ve had to resort to LFG and on an odd occasion I’ve managed to get a taxi into a good map and got most of the stuff done, except this one HP.

Finally today, i managed to get to it and it’s the most crazy set up I’ve ever seen. It’s like this HP was created by some lunatic goofball frankly. Not only is it gated behind a successful meta and being timed, but it’s very hard to get the Lay Line updraft that starts off the ground and virtually no place to launch from and open ur kite. But once u do get up there, u r in a small area full of spiders, many of them vets and finally the Champ Queen.

I was there alone on my necro, so i summoned my minions thinking they would take attention off me while I commune, but the spiders completely ignored them and just kept on me. The HP is situated on this small rock pillar and whenever i tried to commune, they all rushed at me and each of their hits would interrupt my commune. So i tried to kite them away, but it was no good, they seem to be programmed to stick to the player and i couldn’t shake them off no matter what i did.

I knew the map was populated, we just finished the dragon event and i could still see a few commander badges around the map and while running for my life, i somehow managed to type in map chat asking for help. No one replied, so i repeated the message, pleading for help as i was running out of time, but no one responded. In the end, the spiders overwhelmed me and killed me and i saw this HP slipping away.

Eventually, a lone thief came (thank you whoever u are) and tried to rez me, but i could see he wasn’t going to make it, so i told him no to die as well. He apologized for not being able to help, there was just too many mobs. It was pointless anyway, even if he managed to rez me, 2 of us couldn’t deal with the 30-40 mobs running rampant around the HP, so he left me there. Then with barely 1 minute left, another thief came and actually got me rezzed (i was already partially rezzed by the first thief so it was faster and many thanks to you too) and that very instant, the map reset and i was killed off again and spat to the beginning of the map.

You know Anet? You’ve destroyed my enjoyment of this expansion, but I’m determined to get that last HP one way or another (to get some value for my money and to have at least one char with 100% maguma) and then i’ll never go back to those places again, let alone try map completion on my alts. It’s just not worth the frustration. And just so you know, exploration is my favorite thing in this game. Prior to HoT, I had 9 characters with 100% world completion and they all did it when WvW was part of it. I had every intention of doing the same in HoT but no thanks. I’ve had enough.

That spider queen HP is ridiculous in so many ways. One lone thief coming to help me in a map full of people? While needing 15-20 at least, is what makes this content utterly ridiculous. Not to mention, having that 15 min timer after dragon dies to get it done when u loose at least 5 minutes just getting to the boss chest. What made u think that weeks/moths after HoT release, one would be able to gather 15-20 willing ppl required to kill those mobs and get that HP? It’s barely 6 weeks in and you can’t get the help needed, let alone in months to come. So why should i really even bother bringing my alts through there? The meta events are just like any other for me, tons of blues and greens and an odd rare. All that stress for what? Where is the fun in this?

What I see has happened here, locusts who purchased HoT have already rushed through in the first couple of weeks after launch, got their map completions done with a zerg and all they care about now, its their lootz. Since everything in GW2 is on timers, people don’t want to waste theirs helping others so much anymore. And so, those of us like me, who took their time to actually try and explore the jungle and appreciate all your amazing artistry, well good luck to them in completing these maps.

It’s a real shame and I truly hope you will make map completion in HoT a viable thing not just for now, but future players as well.

My ping went up from av 250-270 to 400+ since HoT release
this makes impossible to glide to some areas of HoT particularly in TD where the updrafts have been placed too high and allow no margin of error in trying to reach them. I got so frustrated trying to map that zone and something really must be done about this.

I don’t really understand the complaints. I, honestly, think there is yet more work needed on the visual clutter side of things in combat. I’m tired of seeing nothing but skill effects when I need to be able to see enemy attack animations.

This community is weird. Since launch of the game, all i’ve heard is complaints about too many spell effects and begging Anet to reduce them. Now that they actually listened to the community and are trying to reduce them, all i hear is complaints for doing so. Seriously people, how can Anet possibly please you?

I do agree however, that slider would have been better received and I’m sure would have pleased everyone? Maybe there are tech limitations in making a slider, i don’t know but it may have calmed everyone down if Anet at least explained it to us one way or the other.

It’s not bugged; it’s temporarily disabled (as the in-game text tells you) due to an exploit.

Seriously angered about this. i pay more then 50 bucks for a cringeworthy boss fight where the biggest challenge is hoping that it wont bug out next time you have to relog to repair your armor.


I picked Braham and Canach because people on the main world already warned me its near impossible to do Caithe’s fight without a bug stopping you from going further, great.

First try, Canach stops moving and fighting at 50%, no reflects means no progress, kill myself and retry.

Second try, Canach actually helps me this time but refuses to give me his shield at the last part of the fight, either he is bugged out again or a greedy npc. Stuck once more, kill myself and repeat.

Third try, thank heavens canach works, hope i can repair my armor soon (oh wait). Mordremoth next, died a few times figuring out how the fight works and with one more shot at it before my armor is completely broken, the updrafts on his aoe strike at 75% hp decided not to spawn this time.

Fourth try, relogged to get back for armor repair, watch all cutscenes again, canach only bugged once this time. so after a 40 minute detour because of armor repair im back at mordremoth. and then the rift decided to spawn outside of the bloody area like in the attachment. trying to resist the urge to punch my monitor i alt+f4’d out of there and ended up here.

it’s been how long since the release? and still the primary endgame boss of this expansion is a clusterbomb of bugs.

I had the same problem first time i ran the story, the rift spawned outside the area, then when i re-run it, i had 2 rifts spawning, one was still outside the area but thankfully, the 2nd one was reachable and i was finally able to finish it.

2 nights ago, i tried it again on my ranger and when Modrem AoE phase came on, i barely saw the updraft, run to it and it lifted me a few feet off the ground, then quickly dumped me on the floor to be insta-jibbed by mawdry. after trying it for like 6-8 times and same thing happening, i quit the whole ting, disabled the story on my UI and promised myself i’ll never do that part again.

Just the fact you have to repeat the whole fight all the way back to beginning , is the most irritating thing i’ve ever experienced in any game. The mission chain is way too long, they could have easily put a checkpoint after each fight so if u get dc’d or whatever, you don’t have to keep repeating the entire thing. Same with mawdry fight, having to fight rythlock and marjorie 8 times over made me feel physically ill and i realised if i had do it one more time, i’m would throw up.

Been trying to complete this map for 3 days now. only need one HP and it seems to be bugged. The HP in question is the one in Auric Basin where u eat rotten bacon that does massive dmg over time and u have to survive it for 1 minute. Every time i attempted it, i get a message in red, ‘this content is temporarily disabled’. Is this a known issue? i did report it in game, but thought i should post here too. Whatever the reason, plz fix so i can complete this map.

My Revenant is using full ascended celestial gear, with trooper runes and berserker accessories and ruby orbs, as well as berserker weapons.

When I was doing challenges in the story to restore the egg in the city, she struggled badly in the trial of strength, the one where u can’t heal while fighting a string of mobs. Maybe it’s the Revenant that’s weak i don’t know, but i just did that same trial on my Guardian in exotic, Armageddon karma gear and she smashed it in like 20s with barely a scratch. Yet my Rev failed it like 8 times or more.

Also, Rev has really poor mobility and healing in Shiro is abysmal. through all the fails, i was using jalis/hammer, thinking that since the last 2 mobs spam kd’s this would be a best weapon/legend set since its ranged, but i couldn’t defeat the challenge that way and switched to melee, barely scraping through against the final mob.

I realise u get all stats in Celestial but they’re way too weak imo and could do with a bit of a buff. I also wish there was better heal skills available for Rev in general and a direct condi removal utility. Even though rev has 4 legends, each one could use with extra utility skills. atm i feel this class is very limited in many ways, just one heal skill choice for each legend and one set of utilities u cannot change coz there’s nothing to change to.

And btw, my Rev is a Charr, why hasn’t she got her Charr racial skills?

- Modrem Mouth boss event is awesome, but the mechanics of that map is shocking. As if what i’ve already said wasn’t bad enough, to have all the waypoints contested at all times, makes the navigation even more horrible. But wait, there’s more. Every 2 hours (if you’re lucky to get in there at the reset of the map) you’re unceremoniously killed off and sent right back to the beginning of the map. I’ve lost count how often it took me those 2 hours just to get to the bottom of the map and b4 i could get to that HP, or vista i’ve been trying to get for days, only to be killed off and sent back to the beginning. I’ve never seen anything so ludicrous in my life. I eventually got into a habit of just logging out prior to being killed off and when i return, i’m usually in an empty map, at which point i quit the game in frustration.

DS can get really frustrating. I’m trying to get map complete on my 2nd character, but I’ve hit a snag on getting into maps where the event succeeds. It’s annoying if you spend significant time waiting for/checking LFG/map hopping to get into a populated enough map AND one with enough time on the clock to complete it, and then it fails, and you have to start the process all over again.

I’m a bit confused. Why do you need the event to succeed on DS to get map complete?

There’s is at least one HP i know of for sure that only becomes accessible after a successful DS meta event. I’m told there are others can’t remember now if its a vista, HP or POI where a spider queen only spawns after the successful event as well i’m told. but even if its just one that i know of, that’s enough to not be able to complete the map isn’kitten

Gliding Deployment with High Ping

Yep i got the same issue. my ping used be on average 240-275 prior to HoT release, since then its gone up to consistent 400+ and makes gliding a pain where it requires short jumps, especially when u are trying to reach an updraft that starts just below ur launching spot.

Lay line gliding is completely useless to me and i’m really regretting placing my points into this mastery, since i’m having to get mesmer ports to get those places anyway. 12 MP’s completely wasted. Just today, I had a most frustrating half hour trying to use my lay line gliding to get to a golem HP in Auric Basin and no matter what i did i kept falling through and finally my memser friend ported me there.

Spoiler Alert!
On somewhat related issue, 2 days ago, i tried to finish the story and the part where modrem does a killer AoE and u have to use updrafts to get of the floor, my glider just wouldn’t work and i kept dying to it over and over and having to redo the whole thing. It was mind numbing boring and frustrating. i finally quit the story and removed if from my UI. I don’t think i’ll be doing it ever again and this will be the first time i’ve not completed a story in this game on all my alts.

At least I managed to finish the story once on my necro when HoT first launched and I didn’t use the updraft as i didn’t even see them until it was too late. It’s actually hard to see the updrafts with all the effects on the floor that makes the whole place look misty. So i hid in the dome Braham created, didn’t really protect ME much, but she got downed and Braham rezzed her. Perhaps b/c my necro has a large health pool she managed to survive but with my ranger, i tried the updrafts but they didn’t work, so then i tried the Braham’s dome with her as well and got killed very quickly and this time, Braham didn’t lift a finger to rez me.

Go into your achievements panel and look for tabs with the red mastery point symbol. Dig down into each menu to find the individual achieves that give the mastery point. Any not yet achieved will be a source.

I got a certain number of mastery points when HoT went live, but i’m now at the point where i only got a few left and have no idea where i’m supposed to get the rest. Do u get them simply via world completion? I have a new Revenant and have been slowly doing mapping in Tyria but so far she only got one mastery point form killing Karka Queen. Any info would be appreciated.

Do u know how long it would take me to get 150 favor via missions now that only pays 3 per mission? a year if not more when u factor in that u can’t even get a suitable mission for 3-5 ppl every week.

You are misinformed, easy guild missions give 300 favour each, I have a level 15 guild hall and I am a 1 man guild…. each week I am able to solo the 2 easy guild missions (one of them unlocked at guild level 10) and I gain 600 favour a week from them. So really there is nothing stopping you from doing the same.

If this is true, then yes i’ve been misinformed. I asked a friend who’s in a big guild has been doing mission with them how many favor u get per mission and told me 3. Even thought when i looked at the missions panel it did indicate a number of 300, after he told me that, i thought it was maybe some weekly limit u could earn or some such. wish there was a clearer explanation within the guild tools about this.
But thanks for pointing that out, i’ll see if i can get something done then.

Agree with some points, like the story pacing being way off and acts not being meaningful in the lead up to a dragon kill.

Anet should never have taken progress away from small guilds. It was a bad idea that shouldnt have been allowed to happen.

I disagree with most others
Saying the jungle is too hard is subjective. I enjoy the jungle and dont find it hard really at all. I think other maps are boring as they are too easy and make it pointless to even bother using half of your skills. The jungle is a nice refreshing change.

My argument is; casual players who dont want to improve their skills and dont like a challenge have all of core tyria maps to play in. Other players like me have HOT maps only. So HOT maps should not be nerfed. If you really want to find it easier to move around the jungle, then practice and improve your own skills. If you dont want to do that, stick to core tyria maps. You can still enjoy all the elite specializations and tyria masteries there.

The hero points I am split on. I dont think having hero points with champs which require 2-3 people is terrible in itself. You can unlock all your traits and skills without doing a single champion hero point and its nice to have some ‘mini-boss’ style challenges. However having them required for map completion may create a problem in the future regarding completing them once no1 is interested anymore and that does worry me abit.

Naviagtion of maps i also disagree with you on. It hasnt been that much of a problem to me. Again it seems to be subjective. They were hard at first but after a bit exploration and getting used to the routes, it became way easier, even on tangled depths. I think its too early to tell whether they are overly complex as many players havnt spent enough time in the maps yet to become accustomed to them.I dont think maps should be really easy to navigate as soon as you arrive in them the first time, that ruins exploration.

I was not suggesting that HoT is too hard per se, what i was saying is that its extremely frustrating and and artificially difficult as a result. There’s a difference. They made the jungle too crazily complicated. I enjoy certain amount of complexity too, but not the extent where it takes me hours to find a single HP and on top of that, gated behind a big-zerg-events succeeding over which u have no control.

I am a huge GW2 fan – I’ve brought many people to the game and have been playing since beta, but the reasons I’ve had to come back to this game between every other MMO are pretty much gone.

I’ve played every major MMO from it’s launch through it’s content at launch. Some games (SWTOR, for instance) I get done with all available content before they’ve even finished the intended starting content, so I leave… and I don’t come back. Ever. Other games take a while longer (like WoW expansions, which I stopped buying after Cataclysm or Rift), but when I left, I left. It was done. Finished. Over. GW2 has been my mainstay since it’s launch and, sadly, it won’t be for much longer due to the fact that I can no longer experience all it’s content without being in a guild. A big guild, at that.

The primary reason I kept coming back to GW2 was that I could see all of it’s content without having to deal with people (I’m always a guild/raid leader in other games and that just wears me down) and still be as relevant as I was when I started a break – sometimes a couple of weeks, sometimes a couple of months; I knew the same great game would be waiting for me when I came back. And I put a lot of hard-earned cash into this game because I loved it so much and it earned it.

That has changed and this is why:

I made a little spreadsheet of the required materials just for Resotration 1-affiliated builds in the Guild Hall. This isn’t nearly a quarter of the materials needed to get to the actual content like Weaponsmith 2’s, which require completion of nearly all builds in restoration 2 and a guild level of 40.

So, basically, not only can my small guild not even claim it’s own Guild Hall with it’s 2 or 3 people (family – pretty much the only people I can stand any more), but we have to get to guild level 40 and get an insane amount of materials – like completely impossible within the expected lifetime of this game (my kids will be through college before I was able to grind out all materials)- in order to fully experience the game.

I’m done.
I’ll play until I leave (again) for another game, but this time, I’ll have a WHOLE LOT LESS reason to come back. Right now, the MMO field is pretty sparse and dry, so I’m good for a while…. But I’m extremely disappointed that my refuge game is now just another game in a pile of grindy games that require I pretend to like other people. I just won’t do it. Unlike some people, I’m not a pretender… I really am incapable of feigning interest any more.

I agree with much of your sentiment, i too feel deceived and betrayed. I busted my gut for 3+ years, virtually on my own to get my guild where it is and all my efforts were wiped overnight.

Prior to HoT launch, I attentively listened to all the live announcements and guild chats from PAX and Twitchcom, read all the blogs i could find and not once, did they ever indicate how small guilds would get shafted. In fact i remember Colin J specifically stating in a live stream that small guilds would not be excluded. Well look where we’re at now, in nowhere land. This is worse than if they raised the lvl cap and we had to grind for another tier of gear like all other MMO’s. B/c at least with that, you can go and play the game and earn that gear over time.

What really annoyed me, is when i learned after HoT launched, we now have to earn 150 favor even b4 we can claim the GH in addition to 100g fee, same as large guilds do. Seriously? They could have at least told us prior, i could have bought some influence to convert to favor. There was no info on the conversion rate to my knowledge, but had i known in advance, i could have used the 200g + i spent on upgrading my guild in the last few weeks leading to Hot release ( that was completely made worthless) into influence and keep it to convert into favor. But since i spent it all on upgrading the guild as they kept saying we should do that b4 HoT as influence is going away, i could have kept that influence and converted it and had enough to at least claim the GH. So yea i do feel betrayed, who wouldn’t? I feel they kept us in the dark and fed us on BS so they wouldn’t lose sales and I will never trust anything they say ever again. It’s their loss though, i was a big spender in the gem store and i trusted them, but even if they changed it now, it’s too late as far as i’m concerned, they’ve lost my confidence and my business and it would take much more than that to make me trust them again.

Sorry if i sound bitter, it’s coz i am actually. I worked so hard to get my guild to where it was and it was all for nothing and i’ve lost quite a few members when they realized what the situation was and others haven’t even bothered logging in for ages, event thought they bought the expac. It’s a sad state of affairs for small guilds and my feeling for gw2 may never be the same again.

I am using my mouse 10% of the time… I’ve put the skill set on the “Numpad numbers”…from 0 to 9 … it is so easy to play like that..

Yea i got some of my skills bound to my mouse like dodge and nearest targeting etc, but i don’t have a large number of buttons on my mouse so yea its limited that way, but maybe one of these days i’ll be able to afford one of those gaming ones if my fingers don’t fall off by then lol.

OP, if you are still clicking your skills like I just saw on one of your youtube vids then this would explain why you are having difficulty with the content, sure HoT is harder than vanilla GW2 but you certainly do not need a zerg to get through areas, I’m sorry but this is a learn to play issue.

I’m not sure what relevance my playstyle has to do with my thread and it saddens me that all you could say is ltp. I always find it amusing how many people come on this forum and accuse Anet of not letting them play how they want, yet some of those very people will come on here telling others how they should play. I’m fine playing the way i do. Not that it’s anyone’s business, but i do have problems with my hands due to a car accident and its the only way i can play, but tnx for your input anyway.

The thing is clicking your skills takes way too long and makes way less effective as a player. You are more likely to die because you can’t use skills fast enough, I’m pretty sure not even new player click their skills. If you actually do that you really should bind your skills to comfortable keys .

My suggestion would be to use a gaming mouse and bind hotkeys to your mouse that way you don’t have to reach for the key board.

If you actually read my entire post, you would see that much of what i said was criticizing the unnecessary complexity of navigating and finding things in HoT maps, not about me dying. I’m not the only one though, who believes there are too many mobs everywhere in these maps that hit like a truck, ntm, endless CC’s of one kind or another and tbh, i’m already tired of fighting Modrem.

But that is not the main focus of my thread, rather, i feel despite these amazing maps, the sheer difficulty of getting anywhere combined with the mob density and all the gating, has ruined that sense of exploration that we felt and experienced in the core game.

I’ve been to RL jungles that were much easier to navigate than HoT maps. I don’t have time to spend days on end just to get to 1 HP or 1 vista etc. I guess they made these maps so complex in order to waste our time wondering around trying to find our way and to make us think we got more content than we actually did.

At any rate though, i would prefer replies were focused on HoT rather than my game play style, but hey i appreciate your suggestion all the same.

I really looked forward to HoT, so much so i pre-ordered the $100 v as soon as it became available and couldn’t wait for the release. For the past month, i really, really tried to like it and refrain from expressing my frustrations, as i’ve seen too many complaints already and thinking if i give it time, i may get to like it more. But sadly, the more i play it the more i hate it. I don’t hate everything, but those parts that i do, outweigh the things i do like.

Things i do like:

- The jungle environment, atmosphere and music is fantastic

- The first 2 maps especially are great for most part

- The gliding is great when it works for me (sadly with average ping of 400 +, usually much higher, it often fails to open in time, if at all)

- The mushroom jumping is also great and it fails less than gliding. But on odd occasion, it sends me to my death

- The story in Verdant Brink is pretty good but after that…

- Love that our characters can talk as they do now, but it would be nice if they sometimes spoke nicely instead of always barking orders.

Things i don’t like:

- Although some story parts dealing with exalted is good, it is ruined by gimmicky mechanics, such as forcing you to use strange skills without warning and no guidance on how to use them, all the while, being chased by a 1 shot monster on your heels. Or doing some silly trials in a rabbit form, or having to fight 5 monsters in a row, where last one constantly spams KD’s with massive dmg, while throughout the fight, you’re being denied healing.

- The story pacing past Verdant Brink is terrible and only gets worse at the end. Some segments had 3-4 if not more parts and if u fail, or had to stop playing, it forces u to redo the whole thing.

- The cinematics were good but it bothered me that characters who scream or open their mouth during it, had this weird looking lips with white bits in the corner of their mouth, making them look strangely contorted and unfinished. Perfect example, the scene of Eir’s demise. Not sure if this is tech limitation, but it looked terrible to me and it spoiled a otherwise very dramatic scene. I’ve seen that effect on Cathie b4, for eg during impersonating her in LWS2 where her lips seem to be sticking when talking and her mouth had these white hollows, but had hoped that would be addressed in HoT. Sadly, it was not and that’s a shame, coz it made the whole thing look unpolished. Also both Eir’s and Faolin’s eyes during that cinematic looked really weird too.

- Navigating the jungle is horrible, especially Tangled Depths and Dragon Stand. I’ll have more to say on that.

- Just about every HP is difficult to get to and almost always guarded by a champion that seem to have millions of HP’s + many of them have adds that respawn very fast. Today in TD, I tried to get this very difficult HP and i spent almost an hour asking ppl to help me and no one responded even though there seem to be a few ppl in the map.
My fear is, if the situation is so bad now, what will happen several months down the road? I already feel sorry for any new players or people bringing alts through.

- Some of the vistas, POI’s and mastery points are extremely difficult to get to as well. There’s one mastery point in VB up in the canopy, inside a hull of a wrecked ship. As if it wasn’t enough that it’s very difficult to get to the wreckage in the first place, you’re then forced to do a hideous jumping puzzle, hopping across tiny beams all the way to the top. I got up there 2 times and only had couple of more jumps b4 i fell down each time and got stuck in the hull. I hate beams in a JP’s b/c they require extreme precision jumping and with my high ping rate i often miss them. I still haven’t got that mastery point and its the last thing i need in VB. But frankly, i can’t be bothered any more. The frustration i have experienced in HoT is totally unreasonable and beyond fun and i really don’t understand developers why they would want to frustrate their players to that extent who paid them good money for their game. And i know, I’m not the only one who feels this way either.

- The are too many mobs and too many of them OP throughout HoT. Many of the groups have veterans and elites, even champs among them, forcing u to constantly run for ur life. These mobs are not only HP sponges but many of them use shadow-stepping skills like the frogs and moderem snipers, making u constantly lose ur target, which is extremely annoying. Not only do they shadowstep, but they seem to be able to travel some distance during it and often end up in bushes where u can’t even see them or way off in a different locations then their origianal position. I’ve often been killed by them while fighting other mobs and i couldn’t even see where they were. I’ve lost count how many groups i’ve come across that had 3-4 snipers and at least 1 veteran among them, creating massive cris/cross AoE’s where often when u dodge, u dodge into another AoE. That’s if they don’t 1 shot u to begin with.

- It often happens where big group of mobs will insta spawn on top of you as you’re going along, killing you instantly b4 u can even react. This sometimes occurs in other parts of the game and i’ve always hated it, but in HoT, it’s inexcusable, b/c you don’t stand a chance against these mobs spawning in that way when ur traveling alone. I’ve never liked enemies suddenly appearing atop of you out of thin air, it just looks bad and i’ve only ever seen this happen in gw2.

- I love exploring, one of the main reasons why i pre-purchased Hot. But the last 2 maps, Tangled Depths and Dragon Stand, take the difficulty of navigation to another level of frustration. Not only are these maps almost impossible to get through without a big zerg, but it’s also reliant on successful map wide meta completion just to get around and to even get access to some of the things required for map competions, such as vistas, HP etc. I’ve yet to see a successful completion TD’s meta and only a couple in DS, which has made exploring these maps most unpleasant experience i’ve ever had in any game.

- Modrem Mouth boss event is awesome, but the mechanics of that map is shocking. As if what i’ve already said wasn’t bad enough, to have all the waypoints contested at all times, makes the navigation even more horrible. But wait, there’s more. Every 2 hours (if you’re lucky to get in there at the reset of the map) you’re unceremoniously killed off and sent right back to the beginning of the map. I’ve lost count how often it took me those 2 hours just to get to the bottom of the map and b4 i could get to that HP, or vista i’ve been trying to get for days, only to be killed off and sent back to the beginning. I’ve never seen anything so ludicrous in my life. I eventually got into a habit of just logging out prior to being killed off and when i return, i’m usually in an empty map, at which point i quit the game in frustration.

Why? Why do this? Well frankly i don’t care the reasons, none of them are good enough and tbh, i’m now regretting my HoT purchase, not to mention all the extra monies i’ve spent on gem store since then.

- The story ending was terrible in as much, i hated having to fight Eir and the other members of our group. That was simply terrible imo, not the least, the number of mobs in various segments leading up to it was ridiculous. My group was completely ignored by mobs and all the enemies constantly focused just on me, killing me often and forcing me to restart the whole thing. I’ve done the story once and i don’t for the life of me know why i even bother trying it again on my 2nd character. As it stands I ended up rage quitting (which i rarely do, but lately been doing that a lot in HoT) and i don’t think i care for any of it any more. I do value my sanity after all, but at the same time, i feel i did not get my money’s worth here.

And don’t even start me on guild halls, relating to small guilds and how i feel duped, where 3+ years of my hard work was wiped over night. Not to mention the amount of gold i put into upgrading my guild in good faith based on what u said leading up to HoT release….all for nothing. Thanks Anet, you’ve lost my business and much of my trust, no more cash for you moving forward, not until u restore our dignity. But guild halls is for another topic, i know much has already been said about it, don’t want to go into it here.

In conclusion, I wholeheartedly wanted to give a positive review on HoT and i’m bitterly disappointed that i cannot.

Perhaps if some drastic changes are made, i may feel differently, but in all honesty, the amount of headaches i’ve experienced….well nothing is worth that. Games should be fun to play, not be an exercise in frustration. It’s a big telling point how much gw2 has changed and not necessarily for the better, where after 3+ years, i still enjoy running around the core game, yet with HoT, barely 1 month in, i don’t even want to go there any more, despite its beauty.

Some suggestions:

- Create ‘safe roads’ through the maps, where u have mobs just out of aggro range off the road. if some 1 wants to fight them let them if not let them pass, except when events are on. But even then, events should never be held on roads anyway. I know we have lots of escort type events and i guess that cannot be changed, but at least when they’re not going on, we could have some more peaceful traveling through the world? We all know we have to kill things and do events to gain our masteries, but sometimes we just want to get from A to B and have a bit of a look around on an odd occasion. No need to shove endless mobs in our faces every step to of the way.

- Demote the champs guarding HP’s and Masteries, so a solo person can do it, i think this is a must. The zergs are gone, they got their stuff in the first week, now let us explorers be able to explore and appreciate what you have created, not curse u every step to the way.

- Make some stories where u don’t have to constantly fight the big group of mobs and a mandatory boss in the end. U did this in LWS2, why did u stop? It gets rather boring and tedious, having the same pattern occur in every little story instance. It starts with what sounds like a nice plot, oh but wait, we have to fight zillion mobs b4 we can continue. Boring! I fight enough mobs in PVE, way too many if u ask me, no need to have that in the story all the time as well.

- Create content taking into account that no everyone has the top notch internet and PC. Although i have a good PC, my ping rate is bad and I’ve always felt with jumping puzzles and such, especially the more recent ones, no consideration is given to people like me and trust me, there are many of us. In fact i’d go as far to say, we’re the majority. Allow some leeway. I realise this may make that type of content easier for people who do have good internet, but i think everything is easier for them anyway and i bet they’re in minority not us, so why only cater to them?

Well I’m sure i’ve missed some things, but this is getting way longer than i planned so I’ll end it here. I really do want to enjoy Hot but as it stands, i just can’t any more. At least the last 2 maps anyway. I hope this is taken as a constructive criticism as that is my intention, but i’m not always best at emphasizing those points and i hope it won’t be held against me.

Your 2nd account gets daily laurels does it not?

That is a perk compared to f2p is it not?

Some worth of note are:

- less character slots
- less bag slots
- no sending of coin or items
- limited traiding post access

and more restrictions on f2p accounts.

Are u saying f2p accts don’t get laurels? What’s that got to do with it anyway? I bought the game and it don’t make sense HoT players only got this perk, when it’s earned in core game and mostly only usable in core game, beside the auto loot and mentor badge, so why shouldn’t we get it? I’m not debating f2p v b2p, it just don’t make sense excluding gw2 players who have bought the game and supported the company for many years.

Despite my 2nd acct being bought this year, i’ve been playing the game since head start and have sunk many $$$ into the game aside from buying the game and expac and i have spent lots of money on the gem store upgrading to my 2nd acct and i now wonder why really. their progress has come to a dead end.

Tyria Masteries (Pact Commander)

The pact commander line is all convenience, it isnt needed at all to play the game. Besides, the tag you get titles you a Mentor. If you want to be a Commander, you are able to purchase a commander tag without HoT (just like most of us did 2+ years ago).

The OP doesn’t mention the mentor tag and that may not be their reason for wanting the mastery, as it wasn’t mine. The mastery also provides greater speed in cities, faster revive, access to new merchants and – my favourite – the option for loot to be automatically picked up. I was disappointed in this mastery too, but only because the auto-loot should have been first tier and mentor should have been last.

I can understand the OP’s point here. They’re in central tyria. These are central tyrian masteries. They’re a pact commander. The mastery is called pact commander. It would seem logical to have it available to players of the core game. But realistically, the masteries are a new tech which probably took a lot of development and they want to recoup their costs by having people buy the expansion.

Yes you are right about my intent of the thread. I have in fact bought HoT (the $100 version on my main account and spent 100’s of $$$ in the gems store since) but i also bought a 2nd acct b4 the game went f2p. I have now maxed out Pact Commander on my main acct and am still getting used to not having to hit that bound key to auto loot. In fact i do it often still as i only got this maxed out a couple of days ago. It’s kinda funny hitting that key and getting nothing, then i realise why. My problem now is when i switch to my 2nd acct, i do the opposite, i forget to hit the bound key to auto loot and often miss out on stuff.

Aside from that, my 2nd acct never got any perks for purchasing the game, as all others did. I got my 2nd acct after the Hot announcement and i guess i didn’t qualify as a “veteran” player but this mastery would at least compensate a bit and just allow people in my situation to play both of their accts with some consistency and with less confusion.

And btw, i do have a commander badge on my main acct, its not about badge at all. In fact, i don’t even like the mentor badge much, imo its too big, but i do like the other perks and besides, i think it’s appropriate and only fair that all those who bought the game and particularly finished the PS should get this mastery. Perhaps it can only be unlocked after u finish the PS? Either way i would really like to see this change.

My mini keeps disappering

Most times when i go gliding, changing zones, or when minis are hidden due to full maps, it disappears and never re-appears. when i look at the box it’s unchecked, i turn it on, go gliding and its gone again, it’s becoming rather annoying, especially since i bought lots of minis form the gem store in recent times and would like to see them now and then. Not sure if it’s just me, or if this is a reported problem couldn’t find any threads about it, but plz fix this as son as u can.

I’m a bit disappointed this mastery line (specifically Pact Commander) wasn’t made available to all accounts that have purchased the base game, especially since this mastery can only be achieved in the base game. What I see from this, is despite buying base game, ur being excluded from base game progression unless u buy HoT.

I would really like Anet to change this and allow non HoT gw2 owners at least get this mastery. After all, every one of us that have finished the Personal Story ARE Pact Commanders and deserve this mastery. C’mon Anet do the right thing!

Do we not get any kind of reward for completing individual maps in HoT? I have completed Verdant Brink on 2 characters and got nothing for it. Just last night i completed it with my 2nd char and still nothing. No exp, not even some kind pop up to say u got 100% of that map etc. Is this intended or some kind of bug?

I want to thank the devs for implementing 64bit. I guess i must be one of the lucky ones but i had the smooth transition and it seems to have stopped my client crashes i was getting multiple times a day.

So far, been using it for 2 days and aside from a bit of a mouse stutter when i first began using it, it’s all golden.

My fps hasn’t increased a great deal, but i just feel in general my game is more stable and my pc is performing better and everything seems smoother. I suppose having finally more than 2 of my 8 cores used is bound to make a difference for the better.

I’m stuck on Hearts and Minds….i assume this is the last chapter in the story. Well either way, I’m hating this chapter. It just goes on an on without checkpoints and if u fail u have to repeat a massive amount of work.

The story began good, but as it leaves Verdant Brink, it goes downhill fast, especially as u go searching for Rox’s clues and worse of all, the Hearts and Minds. As i said, not sure if this is the last part, but i’m ready to give up on it. I simply don’t have the time to do it one hit, not when it goes on and on and it’s as hard as. then if u fail having to redo it all is just too much.

What makes it worse, I think the mission is bugged or I’m missing something. The attached screenie shows the rift off the platform and i cannot use it to progress. last time it failed, that rift was even further out, but this one i could reach by jumping on it, only to fall right through it and get spat out back on the platform.

This happens after you subdue Tybalt so as u can imagine i’ve already been through a lot to get there and having to repeat it over and over, has made me ill. Anyway if anyone could tell me if this is a bug or it’s me missing something, i’d appreciate it, i case i feel like torturing myself and decide to attempt it again.

Yea me 2, was going to start a thread asking about the daily Master of Ruins, but glad i found this thread.

There was a same daily day or 2 after Hot released, so i went to look at the new map and yea couldn’t see any ruins anywhere. I thought may it was bugged or something and decided to wait till next time.

I just checked the wiki to see if there’s any info there, but there wasn’t and the daily lists still shows Master of Ruins in the mix.

Please replace this as soon as possible. I don’t have much time for WvW and this used to give me a few badges i need reasonably fast. It would be nice to get at least one daily in world v world that’s comparative to the old Master of Ruins, or the Veteran Slayer.

We having fun yet?

I love gw2 crafting system in general, the speed with which it does it etc, but what they could do, is add another button u can hit while crafting large quantities of mats, that shows you like slide images of gw2 or something like that, so ur not looking at the crafting UI but something a bit more interesting.

It’s a risk vs reward balancing. Generally all the skills that have long cast times and root you are also very powerful and can do some serious dmg if you get caught in it. I would hate to see skills like meteor shower, hundred blades, barrage get nerfed just so you could move while casting them.

It may be risk v reward, but it is really annoying to have say 4/5 skills have mobility but one that don’t. u get used to being mobile then have to continually reverse ur thinking in split second and stay still.

One of the reason i hate warrior GS is due to 100 blades being rooted, especially since more and more enemies are being designed to deliberately move out of melee range just as u begin to execute your skill. I would rater deal less dmg with these type of skills than waste them entirely and do none. I lost count how many times i got frustrated with these skills and avoid using them if i can. 100 blades is especially frustrating since it’s really the only skill on GS warrior that deals any appreciable dmg.

Somewhat on a related note: The other thing i’ve always found /confusing/annoying with gw2 skill system is that many weapon skills have to many range variations. Among ur 5 weapon skills u can have anywhere from 3-5 range variations and they are all over the place. So instead of focusing on the enemy, u have to keep checking ur skill bar all the time if ur within range b4 u use a skill. If at least they’ve been placed in order of the range on ur skill bar, it would be better but they’re not, forcing u to jump in all directions and some don’t make sense at all. Like for eg #5 on warrior rifle is melee range on a ranged weapon.

This event brings bad memories of Karka event, where i got DC at the end, just b4 the ancient karka died and never got my reward.

But in a way, it’s even worse, lot of effort to do a whole map invasion, intense battles and big cost of wp all over the place, for no reward or so little it’s not even worth mentioning. No loot from enemies at all? Was this really necessary?

What chance do low lvl players have even tagging mobs and getting credit for these events? I’m a lvl 80 and i had trouble getting credit on lot of them.
the whole thing is just one huge zerg, after zerg.

Worst part, is the feeling of frustration, rather than enjoyment or sense of fun. I did a couple of events when it first started and got nothing at the end of it all. Today, I made a concerted effort, as there is one thing out off all the rewards that i’m interested in, the twisted moa mini, which is missing from my collection.

After starting at the beginning of the cycle in Brisban, i get dc both there and in Kessex Hills half way through the event, all progress lost. So after wasting 2 hours, i gave up in frustration and waited for the cycle to begin again. This time, i managed to do all 3 zones from start to finish and participating in every event i could possibly manage and what did i get at the end of it all? 5 lousy blossoms for each zone! If it wasn’t for the daily reward of 20 blossom i would have 15 in total for several hours of hard work. and yes this event is pure work, no fun at all.

The amount of time i wp to an event only to arrive as it’s ending and not getting credit, is the most frustrating thing. very reminiscent of daily events in noob zones only on a much grander scale.

Well, if i manage to get my mini, i will not be doing this event again, not only b/c of a feeling your efforts are not rewarded but also due to the above-mentioned frustrations. I can only hope this is not a reflection of what we can expect in HoT.
