Pay to play each map?? Really??

The Living Story is DLC, just under a different name. And just like DLC in any game you have to buy it if you want to play it.

I can see the sense in Anet offering some kind of bundle where you can buy HoT+PoF+LS 2&3 all together, but it’s highly unlikely they’re going to just give it away to everyone. I think we’re lucky they make it free for the first few months, I don’t know of any other game that does that.

I don’t frankly understand why Anet didn’t include S2 &3 into bundles with the expansions. Why aren’t they promoting the living story content outside the game? It’s good content and it should be out there on offer and not just in the game.

I really think Anet should offer another couple of bundles, one for HoT with both S2 & S3, (giving appropriately reduced price for those players who already own any of the chapters to date) and another bundle with the lot, as well as the current ones they have on offer. I think that would give people a lot more choices and also clarity what content is available for purchase. Those who choose not to get those bundles can always get S2 & S3 in game as they currently can, but they would at least be aware that content exists and they have an option to purchase it.

As it stands, I doubt many new players would even know that S2 & S3 exists until they enter the game or even what those are and when they find out in game, this is the kind of threads we get. Even with those bundles, they still may not know exactly what S2 &3 means, but that would at least prompt them to check it online and get an idea.

In fact, I think it would be a good marketing for the game imo to show new comers and those returning players absent from the game for a long time, that there’s a lot more content in the game than just the 2 expansions. Not sure if it’s too late to include these bundles now before PoF launches but I don’t see why the can’t add them a bit later, but the sooner the better. I’m sure PoF in it’s early days will still be a popular purchase and they could add that in soon after launch. If not, then maybe with the announcement of Season 4 would be a good time, not as good as above, but still pretty good I would wager.

You forgot to add that if you payed the $50 launch price you got to play the game for 2yrs more, which is of course a big deal. Those late to the game will have less play time on a older title that is why to attract buyers prices have to be driven down. But this living world ‘fee’ feels like a bit of bait then add on cost after for new/returning players esp since guys who logged in earlier got it for no extra cost. A game marketed as Free-to-Play with the only major component cost being the expansions. It seems a little underhanded and deceptive and is not something you want to do when you want to attract new comers.

Yes they could have marketed it better, but there’s an entire team working on the Living Story, how u do expect them to get paid? there has to be a point when freebees stop flowing and some of the costs get recouped. anyway frankly, if some 1 is that upset to have to pay extra $10 for 6 new zones, then that’s up to them, they don’t have to buy them, after all it is an optional content. You get games like ESO that charge more than double that amount for their dlc’s and they’re no where near rich in content, they complain about a mere $10 for so much content?

The Joy of Grinding (and other annoyances)

You know, I’ve just about had it with simple things being gated behind “adventures” and “puzzles”.

At the moment, I’m trying to complete “Glint’s Bastion” in the Specialization Collection for Herald. I’ve been trying to complete the “Sanctum Scramble” (unsuccessfully). If I wanted to play a platform jumper that required the reflexes of a 12 year old jacked-up on espresso, I’d play Mario.

Which leads to my gripe: give us more than one way to complete non-legendary “collections”! It really doesn’t seem all that difficult, really. Sure, let the puzzle option be there for those who enjoy it – heck, it can even be the “easy” route – but don’t shut-out others who don’t enjoy such content.

I understand there being elite items that are only obtainable by elite players who sink a significant portion of their lives into the game (I.e., the pretty PvP wings that only hard-core PvP players can obtain). But all these hide-and-go-seek scavenger hunts to unlock a weapon skin? Really?

Look, I don’t mind needing to kill X monster, but requiring that we achieve a certain medal score to obtain a single piece of a larger collection is stupid (yes, I could find a more erudite way to express “stupid”, but sometimes “stupid” works.)

Creating content that makes paying customers want to rage quit and uninstall isn’t exactly smart. But, by all means:

  • …continue giving us UGLY (harsh, but true) costumes instead of the new armor skins we’ve all been asking for.
  • …cover up a lack of game innovation by adding increasingly complex scavenger hunts.
  • …make the game more “challenging” by making entire floors hot lava (without cleaning up the interface to compensate for hordes of player models covering up all the “tells”.)
  • …continue making adventures and jumping puzzles that have zero-tolerance for error (oh, hey, I’m floating in the air on the edge of a cliff, but can’t jump over a tree root!)
  • …continue to increase the map complexity without fixing the map overlays (or giving us a means to actually SEE the map points we’re missing without consulting external maps.)
  • …continue producing content that REQUIRES a trip to a third party info website to figure things out.
  • …continue providing shortcuts to max level a character without unlocking a waypoint in each zone (yeah, I really want to map compete Lion’s Arch AGAIN.)
  • …continue to REFUSE to fix PvP matchmaking (but gate items behind PvP success.)
  • …continue making the game a farming grind (something it wasn’t at launch, and something you said it would never be.)

Yeah, I could always quit and play something else, but I’ve invested a lot of time and money into your enterprise. It’s time you started making your customers happy. I don’t expect everything to be easy, no… but is giving us a second option to complete a collection task all that much to ask? Heck, instead of giving us redundant items for daily log-in, give us a general token that can be saved and exchanged for collection items. That would be amazing! Or, better yet, a method for exchanging all the gobs of tomes and such we’ve all accumulated.

I agree with you on this adventure, I cannot do it. Living in Australia I have a high ping and my hands always hurt from doing so much clicking in this game. Using those skills on any run, one will simply fail and not fire off, or fire off too late. I can make it about half way b4 the timer expires and that half run is so frustrating and enraging experience that I’ve given up on getting my rev’s shield completed long ago.
I have, all classes and races. I’ve completed all the elite weapon collection including that infuriating fallen masks (which btw, took me 2 hours just to get a bronze due to mushrooms failing so often it was a horrible experience probably due to latency issues, or w/ever) to get the necessary items, all except the rev shield and the only thing i need is that SS item. I guess I’ll never get it, there’s no point in frustrating myself to that extent. But it still bugs me every time i look at my achievements and see it uncompleted. It’s not about me needing an ascended shield, i crafted one for my rev and transmuted it with the ghastly grinning shield skin, but it’s the principle of it. It’s my rev’s personal class shield and i wanted to complete it but alas, not possible for me.
Furthermore, i hate, hate, when I’m forced to use alien skills, they never work properly for me. It took me ages to get that story achievement with those skills but when I realized i was expected to do SS to finish the shield with those skills, my heart sunk and it’s been like that ever since. I even tried doing it on different races, like my Asura, it made no difference since that wasn’t the problem.
Anyway, I suggest you just let it go to avoid getting frustrated any further. It’s not worth it. Let the cool kids have their fun and defend such content, those with super excellent pings and reflexes. They don’t feel our pain. It’s saddens me that it seems they don’t want to cater to us more mature folks, despite us being the ones who have the money to spend and are the ones who actually fund this game.

Playing a toon of the opposite gender?

Does anyone else feel uneasy playing a toon of the opposite gender, I do.

I’m a guy, and even though most female toons are more pleasing on the eye to look at, playing one just makes me feel, “Strange”, not to mention the countless guys hitting on my toon, only to find out I’m a guy, and calling me well, some unpleasant names to say the least.

Like I want to make a female norn warrior, because I don’t like how the male norn’s torso seems to be shorter on one side than the other, lol.

I feel awkward playing the opposite gender character in MMO. In a single player game, it never bothered me but in MMO, it kinda does. I think it’s because in MMO you play and socialize with other players and it’s kinda nice to think that if you see a male character, or a female, those genders are the same IRL, so you know who you’re talking to without having to constantly ask and wonder.

I always get this odd feeling when I’ve been friends with some one for a long while and think they’re male or female b/c they play those characters, only to find out they’re the opposite gender. It makes me think, oh gosh, have i said the wrong thing to them at some point. Then it creates this weird feeling as it’s shifted your perception of them. It’s just an uncomfortable feeling i get having talked to someone for a long while thinking they’re female, only to find out later they’re male, especially if you’ve discussed female related things. When you meet new ppl, it puts you on edge a little and a bit uneasy having to ask them what gender they are all the time. And when u don’t know the gender, it makes you be more cautious about what you’re saying.

I think it would be nice if everyone played a gender they’re actually are IRL as it removes that confusion, but I understand why ppl do it. This is not me being uncomfortable with my gender, it just removes doubts and makes things more clear as to who you are talking to.

Interesting observation. You accuse Anet coaxing you to buy something by giving you a free gift? Even if you’re right, at least Anet is not like Blizzard forcing you to rent their game at $15/month for as long as u want to play it, but you’re ok with that? Yet you find it offensive that Anet may be trying to entice people to voluntarily spend some money on their game? A company that gives you tons of free content, tons of conveniences all for free and is completely reliant on goodwill of their customers to support it? Truly amazing.

So yes, Anet is 2nd to none, as they do not display the kind of greed some of those companies like Blizzard do.

Just got it, thanks ANET.
One quibble it did not show which backpack I unlocked last year. I know what it was but my memory is usually bad and next year I may not remember the first one. It is good to have the free skin if you want the same as previously but would be nice to be marked as well.

You can tell if the skin is unlocked or not when u right click the item. If the skin is unlocked, it’s lit up like rest of the text, if not unlocked, the (unlock skin text) it’s greyed out.

Thinking about getting GW1 for HoM

Thanks for the input guys really appreciate it. Honestly, I only care about two things and they are the fire blade and GWAMM and I could really care less about the rest. If Anet decide to sell GWAMM for $100 I would take it. But seeing that it requires 50 and its difficult to get 50 without trading minis to other players I’m not sure if its worth buying and no guarantee I can get to 50.

GWAMM requires u virtually do everything in gw1 in both normal and hard mode, however, if u start with Nightfall, you can unlock enough heroes very quickly to be able to do all the content at least in normal mode, that should get u very close to your 30 points in HoM. Honestly, the rest of HoM points are not really worth chasing as they’re all just titles that don’t even count toward GWAMM, which requires you to obtain 30 other titles.

But as to whether it’s worth to play? Absolutely. GW1 is an amazing and fun game once u get used to it. I’ve been logging in over the past year every so often and i always see players in Ember Beach and Kamadan etc. so yeah if u play as much as you do, you should be able to do it all with heroes. I mean i’ve done everything with my heroes in both normal and Hard mode, they do require some micro management but u get used to it. And just bear in mind, the better u equip your Heroes and the better skills u give them, the more effective they will be. Also to get ur GWAMM and the 30 HoM points, u will need all the content in gw1, that is, Prophecies, Factions, Nightfall and Eye of the North. Good luck and have fun

Yes, I do kick, not repping that is not in a eligible repping rank/or in a Guild I have not approved.

I’d just like this to be a bit more automated and if I say were a complete 100% guild, then to not allow a member to join or able to join another Guild if he has prior Guilds.

I only recruit new player, free to play people, and I spend time in dugeons with them teaching them, and I spend time holding Guild missions for them and hand holding.

Why should I grow Raiders, or WvWers I trained just to have them hop over to another max level rival Guild, by building friendships there too – the same time I am spending gold and time on them. – it sucks.

People are less like likely to hop around if they do not know if the grass is greener, especially for start up Guilds.

Another possible solution would be to remove the account based guild membership. That way, people can join different guilds with their alts that specialize in particular content, or simply where they like to be in one guild for whatever reason.

I mean isn’t it weird that the guild membership is account based, yet representations isn’t? Why have that? It don’t make sense that if someone joins a guild, they have to tick the rep box on each character? Yet even if they don’t tick that rep box, their alt character will still appear in your guild roster. It’s a really strange system and no wonder there’s lot of confusion and hassle to deal with this every time u invite a new member.

That was the first thing I noticed too. It is really weird.

Is the new guy in your guild, is he following your chats, did he read your motd, does he already have a raid guild, or wvw or something clashing with your guild?

Will he donate to help build the guild, if you provide him training, events and other services? Or is he already in a max level wvw Guild and feels there is no incentive for him to help build another Guild.

And, if you invite a lowby player, you do not know he has a high level alt. I’d rather prefer to know, then I can target free to play players rather or new lost in the woods loners, and provide them with a great experience and hopefully they’d buy the game – as people did in my Guild, people even transfer servers.

So yes guilds need some tlc.

They do indeed need tlc, even lot of permissions are lacking, like how they lumped the both recruitment and kicks into a same permission, which is a blanketed permission for both actions. That is really bad, as it means i can’t give a permission to a lower rank member ability to invite a friend or girl/boyfriend into the guild without giving them also ability to kick someone which u don’t want.

I’ve been asking for years to have permissions for each guild bank tab, so we have better control of it. We don’t even have a mass guild mail-out system, so each time we have to send a schedule out or some notification to members, we have to mail to each member individually. With the mail spam restrictions it means you can only send 2 mails b4 u hit suppression. Instead it would be nice to be able to send one mail and have tab in the mailbox UI “send to all members”. People on this forum who don’t run an active guild have no idea what we have to deal with and how little tools we have at our disposal compared to other games. I’ve played games that are 12 years old that have better guild features, it’s sad, which is really surprising, considering Anet is pretty good at providing us with conveniences and nice QoL’s.

With the rep system out of the way, people can be in multiple guilds if they like, but can only be in one at any given time and only be seen in that guild they’re in for the day or w/ever. Any activities they do whilst in that guild, such as guild missions, would benefit only that guild, thus eliminating any conflict etc.

When they log in each day, they have their list of guilds and can choose which guild they wish to spend their day or however long with. What this would mean is, if a member is in a different guild to mine, I don’t see them on my guild roster, nor do they see my guild or have access to anything in my guild.

This would imo save us guild leaders a lot of management problems, animosity toward members not repping the guild and it would save members a lot of discomfort too, while having freedom of choice which guild they wish to be in without being forced into anything.

This meaningless change would imply that the person who joined the 100% rep 100% loyalty guild isnt 100% repping or 100% loyal.

So whats the point?

You’re suggesting a solution for a problem you have created by making a guild rule you want your guildmates to be able to break.

Your first sentence doesn’t make sense.

Are you are guild leader? I think the OP asked ppl to state their position in a guild and most of the posters here haven’t done so.

You either haven’t read my post or fully understood what I was saying. The point is, I want Anet to get rid of the rep system full stop. lf the representation was removed and members could be only in one guild at a time and only visible to that guild, as I suggested, there would be no need for the 100% rep rule would it? I’m suggesting Anet removes this redundant system and stop these arguments once and for all.

I know there’s a lot of people out there that would hate my proposal as it would mean they could not raid 5 guild halls each day, only the one they’re in, but that’s a big part of my point as well. I resent that members who have not contributed a cent toward my guild hall rebuild to just use and abuse my hard work, while not even bothering to rep my guild. And as a guild leader, I’ve seen this happen too many times.

Instead of trying to force ppl to play the way you think they should, why not just make a guild that ppl want to be loyal to. If loyalty is problem, the problem may not reside with the member. I paid for my game, you for yours, being told how to guild by others was not included with the product. Ego is a tool of failure.

I have been a guild leader since head start and I have only 1 rule in my guild : 100% guild rep. I’ve tried having it free for all, partial rep and so on, and it just doesn’t work if you want to have even a mildly cohesive guild. I don’t have a big guild (by choice) and I’m lucky to have a bunch of loyal members that get on, but it took a lot of work and frustration to get it there. It’s still a constant struggle to keep it that way and I’ve cursed Anet many times over the unnecessary difficulties they’ve presented us with.

I’ve always hated the way the guild representation works in gw2’s multi guild system. It is really bad in my view and creates a lot of needless animosity as well as work for the guild leaders. I hate the fact members who are in my guild but not representing my guild, are still showing in the guild roster, but with that awful grayish/green oval icon that indicates non-representation that I and all my members can see.

They just dumped this half-baked, unintuitive, multi-guild system on us and shook their hands off it and left us, the guild leaders, to have to deal with the consequences on a daily basis. The representation system creates conflict and mistrust among both sides and it all could have been easily avoided.To be frank, I’m tired of having to explain this convoluted, loyalty system to new players that want to join my guild and you can see, they just can’t grasp the concept. It’s so alien to them and I don’t blame them.

[Suggestions] Quality of Life Changes

Not sure if this has already been suggested, I can’t read through almost 1k posts, but i would like to suggest an overhaul to the mailbox UI and the mail system.

I love the convenience Anet has given us being able to use the mailbox anytime, anywhere, but the current system has been with us since launch and could use a makeover.

1) I would like to see the pop up window to accept mail being sent either reworked, or removed completely. As it stands, it servers no purpose other than make us do an extra click. A confirmation pop up implies you could change what you’re doing, but in this case it does not. If we had an option to change our mind and cancel the mail, it would make sense, but as is, there’s no need for it at all.

2) This leads somewhat into the above. I would like to see a game message in chat (in perhaps a pale blue color or some that isn’t currently used) to show to whom we just sent mail. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve sent mail only to doubt myself if it went to the right person. Having a record in chat would eliminate such doubts.

3) I love that we can right click an item in our bags and it automatically goes into the mailbox, instead of having to drag and drop as in some games. However, it would be even greater if the item we sent to the mailbox were greyed out or darkened in our bags to indicate it has already been sent, so we don’t try to send the same item again, saving us some extra clicks. This would give us at a glance the visual queues not only that an item has already been sent to the box, but also how many items were sent, saving us having to constantly flit from our bags to mailbox and back.

4) Lastly, it would be nice to get an increase in boxes. We currently can send 5 items, perhaps 8-10 would be more ideal and maybe double up the number of mails we can receive?

Highly unlikely, as you can’t seem to do anything on mounts other than riding them.

That’s a real shame, i love how Lotro not only allows u to gather resources mounted, but also you can right click on the nodes as long as they’re visible on the map and your mount moves right up to the node and u start gathering all with just one click. Saves u tons of clicking and preserves your hand health.

There’s is way too much clicking in gw2 and my hands hurt playing this game. Clicking whilst gathering could be reduced greatly and being able to do it while mounted would be awesome.
On another note, I see they added a single channeling animation to gathering with the new Unbound magic tools, hopefully they’ll do the same for all the gathering tools.

Can we gather on mounts?

Thinking about this, i’m not against having to pay for access, but my main concern with this, is how do u link wp’s to your friends/guildies etc to join u at particular part of the map for event or w/ever, when everyone needs to have these unlocked individually. I’m sure these wp’s will only be visible and accessible to you, the owner of the wp.

To me, big part of gw2 experience is being able to quickly link a wp to ppl in the world and individual maps to get to the events, guild missions etc. How’s this gonna work and improve the community experience that are meant to work together in many cases?

I too was doing “Chasing the Culprits” story step yesterday and i had exactly the same problem. During the escape/escort, the last 2 waves of bandits do not spawn and it completely blocks the story progress, so plz Anet fix this asap.

some of you may not notice that you can unlock more wp….just have to buy it. I have no idea who come up with the idea but its not player friendly at all

How isn’t it player friendly?

1) it only takes 40 orrian pearls. You can get those in a day or two of playing. If you buy the orrian pearl node you get 9 with each daily harvest.
2) after unlock you can bring any alt to that map and have access. You no longer have to run to each one with each char.

You say the purchased wp’s are accessible to all your chars, but do they still need to do the story to get there in the first place and unlock the map? It would be great if they don’t need to play the story first, as i can’t really play much gw2 atm due an incapacitated hand. So it would help if i could struggle through with one char to unlock the map and that allowed my alts to just wp there without having to do the story.

This is great effort tyvm, the only thing i’d like to see added to the list in the scribing area, is the lumber cores, i got 5-6 different types permanently occupying my bank and i keep getting them. there are number of other items for scribing like flower seeds etc, but lumber cores are lot more common to get, i’d greatly appreciate it if u could add them as well and once again, tyvm for all your efforts. As others have said, sorry to hear u had to repeat all that work, that would have been very frustrating

Lvl up your first character normally to get that full game experience, big part of gw2 is exploration and the journey to max lvl, plus u get to learn about the game and your class progressively with tips etc. i’d save your lvl 80 boost for for an alt once you feel comfortable with the game.

I’m not mixing them up. You’re focusing solely on one aspect of them, which may or may not matter to someone over the visuals, and claiming it to be better because of it.

Not claiming. It is a fact. The new tools are objectively, demonstrably, better.

When you focus solely on the bonus UM, while ignoring everything else, they are. When you include everything else, that’s not necessarily true as it’ll vary from person to person.

Fine, then they are mechanically better. Which makes those P2W accusations uncomfortably close to being real. (yeah yeah, gold->gems, don’t really need or whatever counter-fluff) I’m not actually claiming P2W, but I can see how it’d be construed.

As it is, I’m not getting the UM set because I already have unlimited tools, and the ROI to paying 787g to get them is ridiculously low. Also, Watchwork, which has done more than pay for itself since I bought it when it was first released.

And I appreciate my harvesting tool’s improved gathering speed, which is also mechanically better. It also doesn’t make obnoxious clown/o-tron noises…
Aesthetics may play into me buying a glitterbomb one anyway if it goes on sale. The UM isn’t so important to me there.

But I want that logging axe. It is, again, mechanically better, and I don’t overly care what it looks like so long as it can help me fast-forward my alts into stat-choice-selected Ascended trinkets.

All that said, I’m not bitter at ANet for releasing these. Actually, I wouldn’t mind if every tool gained some kind of bonus. Maybe go back through the purchases of the basic tools, drop those to 800gem and return the excess 200gem as an act of good will.
Sounds a bit twisted and P2W-ish, but I don’t mind giving ANet the cash, especially if they revamp the UI to make gathering tools and their infusions worthwhile.

It MIGHT be construed as pay to win if you couldn’t already get unbound gathering tools with karma, but you can.

Thus there’s no advantage except for the convenience of unlimited.

Yes there is an advantage, so much so, i feel shafted for the 2nd time. First when they released the watchwork pick and now this.

I bought multiple infinite tool sets for each of my characters with real money and paid the full price for them, not discounted as these new ones are. Now i’m supposed to keep spending my karma to get the same advantage these new tools offer? And while i’m using these karma tools my other infinite tools just sit there gathering dust? How’s that fair?

These karma tools cost a lot of karma and don’t last long. You may have lot of karma but not everyone does and that’s beside the point. As a player who’s been supporting this company since launch and bought many sets of original infinite tools as well as others since, i actually feel lied to, as Anet assured us those tools will always remain the best. Being able to buy these new tools with karma does not excuse them and even less so when there’s an easy fix. Just as i mentioned in the few posts above, make all tools give u/b magic, that would make everyone happy and create fairness for all.

I support suggestions that all infinite tools (except watchwork pic, leave that as is) should be upgraded to give U/B magic to standardize them and bring them on a par. That way, all infinite tools would be equally viable and desirable, instead of basically making the old tools obsolete where no one will want to buy them, except perhaps the unaware. Players then can comfortably choose a set that appeals to them for customizing their look, rather than only buying the one that gives them extra benefits. U/B magic is a pretty standard currency now, required for lot of stuff and it makes sense to upgrade those other tools to match.

PS. I just thought to mention why i haven’t used item boosters much but let them accumulate in my bank and I think it’s the same issue that now effect the new mastery Oakenheart Essences. Way back when item boosters were introduced to the game, i noticed that each time u gather resources when item booster is active, it flips your weapon skills. I’ve reported this at the time but the issue persist. The use of item booster seems to innately remove your weapons, though on the skill bar it only seems to flip them over. I guess it’s due to the fact your weapons are actually permanently equipped. With the essences, being a temporary equip and an environmental type item, it removes them completely.

Hope this help in identifying the issue.

When you have an item booster on, each time you gather something, it removes the Oakenheart Essence, a bit annoying, so not sure if this is a bug or inteneded, hope the former and will be addressed.

Personally, i was shocked Anet gave new players lvl 80 boost and allowed them to use it right away. What they should have done is give one to them, but not allow them to use it until they lvled up at least one character the normal way to max lvl. Once they’ve done that, they unlock their lvl 80 boost to use on an alt.

Giving them the boost to use right away, is a terrible decision as most are not able to resist it. It encourages them to skip all the core game content and so you have these max lvl players who have no idea how to play their class. And even if they go back and do the core content from start, it simply won’t feel the same and often time get bored very quickly and leave the game.

Really, really bad decision imo.

IKR, i was shocked to find how quickly those footsteps disappeared. Even the projectiles are hardly distinguishable that they shoot tigers. Had i not seen it somewhere in a still image b4 i made the bow, i wouldn’t know what it was shooting.

I love my new leg. shorbow, but the footprints are virtually non-existent due to them disappearing as soon as they hit the ground. I seriously still don’t know what they exactly look like for the above mentioned reasons. in comparison, my kudzu leaves a nice flower trail behind that lingers for a few seconds while chuka seems like it has none. on some surfaces u can’t see anything at all, but after running around in circles in some places i got the gist it’s some kind of scratch marks but i can’t really be sure what it is as the footprints disappear instantly.

Please bring the duration of these footprints in line with kudzu and other legendary weapons. This was one of the main reasons i made kudzu and chuka and chuka was extremely expensive to make, i’d like to see them footprints. thank you.

OP, I feel you. I’ve been dedicated to this game since the release, I’ve spent tons of money on it and one thing I always wanted (once I discovered the Hellfire armor set was earned through daily achievements) was to get that armor. I just recently hit the daily cap and my heart sunk. I was already playing less and less of this game, but now another incentive has been removed for me to log in.

TBH, I’m fed up of us veterans being penalised for sticking around and supporting the game. I know lot of people think that we Vets don’t spend money on the game, but I do, I regularly buy gems to support the development of this game and I’m sick and tired of constant gatings and barriers being thrown into the game just to stifle our progress.

At this point, with the daily cap in place, I see no way of getting my hellfire set, ever and that has basically given me even less reason to log in. Just b/c some 1 complained they could not control themselves in the past, why should I be penalised for it? Especially some 1 who has been dedicated to the game and supported it since its launch.

So my view on this is, remove the cap, no more caps, gating etc. enough is enough.

Hi,
I’m wondering if anyone can help me here. I’ve been doing the hungry cats scavenger hunt and got to a part where only Revenant can feed the carrots to the cat in PvP lobby. I’ve gone there with my Revenant with the right amount of carrots (39) and all, but there’s no cat to be found.

Does anyone know if i’m doing something wrong, or is this bugged? I’d appreciate any info. tnx.

I think most things have been listed and i agree with the materials being stored and perhaps what i’m about to suggest has also been suggested already but this thread is huge so not gonna read it all

The only thing i would suggest (in case it hasn’t been mentioned) is to also add those lumber cores that are used in making various tree decorations, ones we get randomly from gathering wood, like:

Ascalon Timber Core
Coastal Timber core
Krytan Tiber Core etc
I have a bank row full of these that i’m having to keep until i get other materials to make the decorations…and
various other similar components like the feather one, as well as some plant types. Sorry can’t be more specific, not in the game atm to get the right terminology but i’m sure you guys know what i mean.

On a side note, can’t wait for some of these things to leave my bank lol. Great idea to put this forward and so pleased you guys are working on this. Thank you very much and keep up the good work.

The guild trader’s merchandise is random and changes every day. The wagon will eventually be available, but you will have to be patient and check on the trader every day.

Oh wow, so after putting tons of materials and money to fully unlock this trader, i now have to play RNG lottery to get the items she sells that i’ve already unlocked and paid for?

Dear Lord! I’m at the end of my wits with this game. Every time i think i’ve seen it all, i find stuff like this that’s bee introduced into the game. Day by day, i’m losing more and more interest in gw2 due to these kind of features that don’t make sense and are completely opposite to what gw2 ideology purported to be when it launched. I’m extremely saddened by this.

But thanks for confirming it, i began to suspect what u said was the case after making this post.

Just to clarify, if u look at his link and and then click on Sigurlina Jonsdottir you can see what she offers. In my case, there’s nothing in her inventory below the Lattice. I know it says it varies daily what she offers, but upon maxing out the guild trader, nothing new was added to her inventory. The items up to the lattice were there even b4 i maxed her out to t4.

Not sure where to post this, so i’ll put it here.

According to wiki, guild trader tier 4 supposed to sell wagons for comms. I upgraded my guild trader to t4 several days ago and went to purchase these wagons, but they are not in her inventory. I was making a lit wagon that requires 2 form the guild trader and now i’m partially done, got all the other stuff made but can’t complete this decoration as the guild trader does not have them.

Is this a bug? or can some 1 explain what gives please.

It’s not just WvW loading screen, i just got hit by this bug trying to get to my guild hall. Had to use task manager to shut the game down.

Hearts showing completed that aren't

I was looking at Iron Marches on the world map this morning to see how much i need to complete there and it showed all the hearts as gold/completed, when in fact i hadn’t done any of them. It was only once i arrived in the Iron Marches map, they showed the brown color. Just to be sure i checked another map i have yet to complete Bloodtide Coast and it was the same, it showed all the hearts as completed, when i have only done 2 in that map.

This mission is still as buggy as ever! I tried doing it just tonight and 3 times at the last phase with Modremoth fight, where he’s at 25% HP, he stalls where he is permanently invulnerable and you cannot finish the misison. This really is bad, considering it is the final mission for HoT. It takes forever even when things don’t bug out, but when they do, it’s the most tedious, long and frustrating mission in the game. Please guys, fix this already will you? Or at least put check points on the phases or something, having to repeat the entire Modremoth fight even once is awful, but having it bug out 3 times in a row is really unacceptable at this point in time. I finally gave up and now i’m faced with having to repeat the entire mission which in itself is abhorrent to me. I really, really hate this mission, just in case I didn’t make it clear above.

Thank you for fixing the annoying guild issue where if more than 5 people entered the guild hall you have to change maps. Hopefully, it’s actually been fixed.

But Please, Please fix these!

1) I’ve reported this already to no avail, but please fix my chat resetting. It doesn’t just reset the chat and i lose all chat history, but it turns guild missions window blank in the guild panel, so i cannot launch a mission unless i rezone. This is especially annoying when out at mission location and this happens, often loading me back into a different instance to where my guild members are. Screenshot attached.

2) Please fix the minis not reappearing after game puts them away. This has been going on since HoT launched. This has been reported numerous times and as far as i know, you haven’t even acknowledged or responded to these concerns.

3) I noticed in the bug tracker, you’ve reported fixing our characters getting stuck, well for me, it’s not been fixed, in fact it’s happening more than ever now.

4) When you recently did some character animation changes, i noticed my Charr moves really weird when in Dry Top using aspect crystals, and it’s particularly bad when in combat as well. The animation reminds me of the Aviator one where you made our characters run around as if they’re plane, only its worse. She has this outstretched hands that are bent at the end in a very stiff position and she runs awkwardly like that with those arms sticking out. It seriously looks terrible. Probably not the best example of how bad it is but it should give you an idea. Screenshot attached.

There are other annoying bugs, but these are most bothersome to me right now and i would really appreciate you looking at fixing them. Thanks

I explored 16 maps since the last weeks and have noticed a significant low “Drop rate” of Black Lion Keys for Map completion. If I am not wrong, I count only 2 keys for 16 maps. I did World completion with all characters I have, but never received so little reward. Was there any change to the drop rate?

Yea massive drop. I’ve done similar amount of maps and only got 2 keys as well and that includes 2 of the HoT maps all the end zones in core game and starter zones. I use to get them %50 of the time, but now they’re non-existent.

Yes! I saw one when I gathered the bloodstone at Harathi. Was within a few feet from it. He looked like a normal-sized leyline walker. And yes, like you said, he stood there for a few seconds before he disappeared.

Intriguing.

I spent quite a while in my Guild Hall earlier trying to lvl up that most frustrating crafting profession….Scribing, when i noticed anomaly-like apparition there! It was an average human size, appeared for a few seconds then vanished, not just once but twice over a course of couple of hours and in different parts of the GH. First time i saw it, it really freaked me out and i thought whaa? in the guild hall? I was thinking i must be sleepy and seeing things, but when it appeared the 2nd time i knew this is either a glitch or intentionally done to scare us out of our wits lol. Well it worked! haha. At least for a little while.

In case someone else gets stuck on it, here’s how your break her shield:

1) get hit by the bloodstone – this will form a stream between you and the bloodstone, empty your endurence bar and low you down.
2) use the new Mastery skill – this will keep the stream active and remove the endurence denial and slow effect so you can move freely.
3) walk outside of the circle she forms in with her ring-shaped path when she spins around.
4) Get her to walk through the stream – once you hit her with it, it will deplete her shield down quite quickly. It’s a good strategy to follow her path a bit to keep her in the stream.

that’s how you remove her shield!
I got stuck on it for a bit so I thought I should post the solution here

Yea i’m stuck on that and gave up after getting bored and endless mobs spawning, no info on what to do, so i’ll see if i want to go through that again. I thought it was supposed to work like the 2 eles b4 that, but if u get close to her at all she pushes u back, another gimmicky combat scenario that turned out to be tedious and spoiled up to that point a pretty good story flow.

Still unable to log in. Benn trying for 2 hours now. Got on ok after updating the big patch, 10 min later, they announced the new build, which was the tiny patch, client crashes after a few minutes and has not let me back in since. Anyone else having this problem? As it seems it’s going ok for some ppl but not others.

Achievement-Harpoon Master

The names of the achievements “Speargun Master” and “Harpoon Master” are misleading. The Speargun achievement is actually referring to Harpoon Gun weapons (sometimes just called Harpoon). The Harpoon achievement refers to Spear weapons.

Well that don’t make any sense. In any event, I have both the spear and speargun mastery completed, but i think what ur saying, is what i’ve basically proposed in my post, that these weapons or achievements might be mislabeled? And if that’s the case, how on earth are we suppose to know what’s going on?

So to clarify, i’m supposed to use speargun to get harpoon gun mastery? Dear lord. I guess i made a boo boo then crafting an ascended harpoon gun, coz iirc there’s no ascended spear gun recipe, but i’ll check to be sure.
