you are advocating the removal of a gold sink. you have to explain why the removal of said gold is benificial to the economy.

In my proposal the gold sink is having to repair tools, as suggested, that’s good enough imo. If it’s good enough in other games it should be here too. And as to why it’s beneficial, perhaps removing the nuisance factor? Saving space? And ultimately, simply a quality of life convenience.

I’m an avid crafter, i have to be with 8 chars, but i’ve been extremely frustrated with the gathering tools since BWE1. I’m very happy that they’ve been made account bound at least but despite that, they are the most annoying nuisance gathering tools of any game i’ve ever played. You always run out of them at the worst of times in the middle of nowhere and no merchant in sight. Or you’re forced to carry spare sets. Even more annoying is that the tools are various types for various resources and some maps have more than one type in them or you end up with ruined resources and there’s nothing to prevent you from gathering the resource with the wrong equipment, for eg; a pop up or some kind of message telling you its the wrong equipment for that resource.
My suggestion is this:
1)Make the tools permanent, once you equip them they stay equipped, however the tools get damaged with use and require repairs, which is an acceptable money sink.

2)The tools should be lvl oriented where starter tools can still gather anything, but it takes a lot longer to do so. Higher lvl tools means faster gathering.
At say lvl 50, you can acquire Master Tools which are maximum time reduction in gathering. As far as what that is I’ll leave for the devs to figure out.

3) Last but not least, the gathering should be 1 action, not 3 or more if you get a rich deposit where you have to repeatedly click on the resource. I find this utmost annoying, very old fashion and totally unnecessary.

If none of these are acceptable changes, then at least make the tools so you can recombine them if you end up accidentally equipping the full stack instead of the one you were previously using. I find this strangest things of all that you’re unable to recombine exactly the same tools like for eg Mithril mining picks etc. If you got 2 lots of 20 you cannot combine them and make them 40, why?
Thanks for reading and hopefully its a worthy suggestion to make some changes.

Ive played for probably 400 hours and ive never seen an exotic drop,
*3)

Haha, you think that’s bad, I’ve clocked 1800+ hours since pre-launch and not 1, yes not 1 exotic drop other than those i got from map completions. And as you can imagine, I’ve killed 100’s of vets/champs/dragons etc. in that time.
I guess I’m the unluckiest person in the MMO world.

I don’t know about you, but I find it strange and depressing, despite the Dragons’ all mighty power, that the entire lands touched by them are totally and utterly corrupted down to every little nook and cranny, every creature great and small.

Surely there must be something out there that can resist their magic?

In that light, wouldn’t it be nice to see a few pockets of resistance to the Dragons’ corruption? Little safe havens among all that chaos. A mystery! Something about these places makes them impervious to Dragons’ corruption.
Places like temples of the various gods in Orr, or Kodan ships in Frostgorge. Instead of them being constantly overrun or attacked by undead, the undead actually fear these places and avoid them. They’re halo grounds!
Why?
Well I don’t know much about Kodan beliefs they’re new to Tyrian Lore and what would cause their ships to be immune, but perhaps the corrupted can hear the ‘voice’ and fear it? But in case of Orr however, the temples were places where the lost gods were once worshiped and revered. Although they seem to have abandoned Tyria, could it be that some residual, ancient magic shields these places form the Dragons’ corruption?

Ever since these mysterious havens were discovered, Tyria has been abuzz with excitement especially the Pact. All 3 Orders were immediately enlisted to try and figure out what this mysterious magic is and if could it be somehow harnessed or replicated and used to stop the Dragons overrunning Tyria.

So even though Dragons have spread their corruption like a wildfire and infected certain parts of the land, threatening to devour it entirely, it would be nice to see among all that death and misery, a glimmer of hope for Tyria, just a little glimpse of what these places once were or may still be…something worth fighting for and somewhere safe to rest ones bones for a few minutes.

Well that’s what I would like to see happen, give your thoughts, stay constructive please and thanks for reading.

Your own house in GW2

in Suggestions

Posted by: Tiger Ashante.1792

Tiger Ashante.1792

should work like an instance that only player + party may see. updates to ur house would not hurt (bed, chair, other door type might not hurt)

I really, really like the Lotro player/guild housing system (or Kin Houses as they’re called in Lotro).
Each race has an estate just outside the major town. The estate itself is instanced but once you’re inside there’s a whole open neighborhood there and each estate can have many, many instanced suburbs.
As you enter portal to an estate, a list of all the suburbs within that estate comes up and you can chose which one to enter. You can add suburbs to your favorite list, like the one where your home is located, your friends, or the guild hall etc. You can then opt to only show your favorite list when entering the estate, rather than scrolling through the entire list every the time.
Once you purchase a house all your characters acquire a special skill to port you to your house any time from anywhere, altho the skill has a1 hour cd. Also when you join a guild you get a skill that will port you to the guild house as well. In gw2 this may not be necessary due to wp system.
These suburbs include standard homes with 2 rooms and are cheapest to buy with in-game gold (1.5g). Then you have more expensive deluxe homes (7g), but are larger and have more decorating options.
Each suburb has several guild homes too, which ofc are the largest and cost 17g to buy + the monthly maintenance fee of roughly 350s. But you could literally have your guild house across the street from your own, a good way to get together.
What I like most about it, all the homes/guilds have gardens that you can decorate as well, by adding special trees, picnic tables, statues etc. And even have neighborhood street parties.
The streets are named, the houses are numbered and when you pass or approach someone’s home, it announces on the screen a home of so and so ‘insert name’ of whoever originally purchased the home. So you actually get to know the people in your neighborhood and I think it’s a very sociable system.
There are all sorts of crafting recepies for various decorations too, or they can be purchased from furniture vendors at each estate and there’s also a bank there for convenience.
Lots of creatures in the world drop items that can be turned into a trophy at a taxidermist located in major towns which you can then place in your home. These are tradable too at the AH. The homes/guild halls can be bought from a real estate agent located just outside each estate and the whole system works beautifully.
Entering your house is another instance and the owner has options to allow permission for their friends/guild mates etc. where they can be allowed to just visit the house or have full access to it for eg change decorations, pay maintenance and so forth.
I would dearly love to see something along these lines in gw2.

The attached shots: my character on the black horse is in front of my (deluxe) house.
My character (a different one) smoking a pipe with friends inside my house.
My character perched on the rock shows a bit of the estate (not the best shot lol but it gives you an idea). The glimpse of the large building on the right is a guild hall while the one on the left is a home of a friend of mine.

Brighter Recourses

Does anyone else have problem finding some nodes and crops even when you standing right next to or on top of them?
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve walked away empty handed in frustration. The nodes imo are too small for one thing, but often they’re same colour as the environment making them very hard to distinguish especially in dark places.
This appears to be an intentional design and frankly I don’t understand why. Why make the resources so hard to spot?
And same goes for crops. The Orrian Truffles for eg are so hard to find sometimes because they look just like the ground, while other crops are so well blended with the grass, its hard to spot the difference.

So my suggestion is, make the ores bigger and brighter, make them sparkle a bit as they should, since they’re extracted for precious metals etc. I know there’s a bit of sparkle to some nodes now, but you only notice them when you get very close to them and are too subtle imo.
The crops could stand out better too by making them a bit taller and perhaps darker/brighter colour then the immediate surroundings.
Thank you.

Tiger Ashante.1792

I have all my crafts maxed out and I find it very frustrating when I want to craft something for one of my alts. Finding the exact thing I want to craft for the appropriate level is a mess. I open my crafting panel and i got this mile long list of little grey names all lumped together in jumbled mess. I literally spent an hour the other day trying to find all the right recepies I had to craft for a lvl 65 med armor. I know you can do a search, but seriously it just isn’t good enough the way it sorts things. it still doesn’t tell me what lvl armor this or that makes, especially if i haven’t discovered a particular recpie. There’s got be a better and simpler way and I think it would be this:

1) All recepies, materials, crafting components and refinements should be categorised under the appropriate Tier Levels 1-6 and include lvl range requirement for the item for eg: T6 Level 75-80.

2) Insignias/runes/sigils etc, should have appropriate lvl requirement for the use of the item to be crafted. This could be added at the end of the insignia name (insert number).

3) When you click on something you want to craft, whether its refining, making an insignia or a crafting component, that item should be clearly highlighted in a distinct colour, say blue, so you can actually see what you have clicked on.

I think the Crafting System could be improved greatly with these simple additions, but if anyone else has a better idea, please post your suggestions here.
Thanks

Enemies respawn too fast in my personal opinion

The default respawn rate is 95-120 seconds, so if you’re seeing locations where they respawn much faster, please report it with specific info! Event creatures will often appear more quickly (so the event doesn’t look dead if players kill them immediately) and if players were killing things in the same area, they might respawn near you. (i.e. if a group ran through and cleared an area a minute ago, a lone player might be in the area when their respawn timer comes up.)

Well I thought about reporting it, but after being through every map at least 5 times, I’ve seen it happen so much and in every place I’ve been that I felt if I reported them all, I would be branded a spammer and wouldn’t be taken seriously.
Having said that, its not so much a location but rather the type of enemies that I see respawn really fast in any map you find them, particularly the following: Risen, Dredge, Krait, Centaurs, Ghosts, Grawl, Ogres, Flame Legion and all types of outlaws, such as Pirates, Bandits, Separatists. There are others, but those stand out to me the most. I hope this helps in some way.
Oh yes, and I forgot the Inquest.

This is not a “Game is dying/dead thread” or any variety.

I enjoy Guild wars 2 on a small level. I enjoyed levelling the first time round but having now seen all the zones I do not wish to complete it again. I have dabbled in the crafting and have seen the extent of what you can do with it, and enjoy pulling it up every now and then.
Dungeons I feel are a bit dry and almost repetitive, for quite small reward in my opinion, and currently the only remotely “fun” dungeon to do is a higher level fractals.

Guild Wars 2 just doesnt seem to have a grip or something to do outside of logging in for dailies, a couple of events with your friends and guildies. Guild Wars 1 I felt like I always had something to do, and something to work towards, whereas in Guild wars 2 now, I find it hard to log in because there isnt as much to do.

Does anyone else get this sometimes and how do they get around it? I want to play but each day I just feel compelled less and less because I have the things I want. Sure you got them in GW1 too, but it was fun just hopping around endgame because you could. This game just doesnt seem to have an end game as GW1.

Well for a start, which part of end game are you referring to in gw1? And what stage of gw1 are you comparing to gw2? If you’re comparing gw1 as it is now, then ofc you’re not going to have the same end game in gw2 for a simple reason; the age difference of the 2 games. gw1 has 3 major expansions + eye of the north which imo is big enough to qualify for the 4th expac.
If you want to do a fair comparison, then you should be comparing current stage of gw2 to Prophecies only, which was the first core release of gw1. Once we get similar number of expacs, then i would be interested in what you have to say.
I sympathise with you in a way, we waited for gw2 for so long and eagerly consumed the content. I think perhaps that gw2 allows for too faster pace of gameplay for an initial release and we got to the end too fast because we could. Perhaps a bit of self-moderation is in order lol.

Yes, for me this is the number one reason why I don’t enjoy the game. In GW1 it was so satisfying to clear a complete zone, and then just run around it, looking at all the sights. In GW2 you never have a moment’s rest to look at the beautiful art.

^
This is one of the major things i miss from gw1, the sense of freedom one felt after vanquishing a map of being able to run around do mapping , or just enjoy the scenery knowing that as long as you stay in that map, there are no more enemies. It was really something quite special.
Granted you cannot have that setup in an open world, but I have to agree with the comments about fast respawn rate.
I noticed too that some things have been brought across from gw1…what we used to call pop-ups Ie: invisible enemies popping out of the ground or sky, or w/ever. So you see an enemy ahead, you target him and as soon as you engage him, or you move 1 step forward, suddenly 3-4 other enemies pop right under you, or in front of you, often mobbing you do death. In gw1, ppl got to know the pop up areas and always approached it with great caution, as the enemy always popped in the same areas. This was never an issue in Normal Mode, but in Hard Mode, it could easily result in a wipe. Death Penalty (DP) in gw1 was severe, where 1st death hit you for 20% max hp, 2nd 40% and if you hit 60%, you’ve sent back to the outpost. So, unless you had some kind DP removal you’ve in trouble especially if you were vanquishing the map, for it meant you had to start all over again. I remember 1 time, i was vanquishing a particularly difficult map, I had killed something like 220/230 enemies in the map, just had 1 or 2 small groups left and because of the 60% DP i was auto ported to back to town so i had to start from scratch, but not that day lol. But I digress.

But yea, aside from ultra fast respawn in gw2, you then unfortunately get mobbed by pop ups as well. I’m sure this will be balanced out eventually but I imagine these things take time. I know it don’t help those having to deal with this issues right now (myself included) but there really isn’t much you can do except be cautious when you’re alone and hope it gets adjusted soon.

Not to rain on the sunshine and rainbows theme you have going on here but … any company that wants to stay in business is more concerned with the UNHAPPY customer than the happy customer. Just my 2 cents as a business owner.

My thoughts? They made an amazing world and got lost somewhere along the way. As someone that has supported this company since they became a company … I hope they find their way back soon.

Look i’m not an unqualified fanboy here, i got issues with the game too, but seriously the game is less than 4 months old give it time. I know most of you came from other games, well-established games, and i think its unfair the way people are showing lack of patience in giving Anet time to get it right. I have no doubt that they will make it right, but these thing take time.
Lets face it, devs and beta testers can test the game to their hearts content but once the game goes live that’s when the true testing begins. In beta you only have limited world open so like Orr would have probably been tested very little. Any new game relies heavily on the player base to test all aspects of the game and report issues. No matter how brilliant a team may be, they cannot possibly foresee every little thing that may go wrong when a game goes live and this goes when updates are made too.
So the moral of the story is, give it time, keep your faith and encourage the devs to the right thing by giving positive/constructive feedback and you might be amazed what this game will become.

Honestly, I’ve played this game like 1500+ hours and I’ve not once complained about the loot. I never think about it as I’m playing the game, if it drops it drops. And you know, if you actually don’t think about it, it’s always a nice surprise when you do get something.
I found even in gw1, when i was after a particular item, the more i wanted it the less chance i seem to have getting it. The moment i stopped thinking about it and just played the game, the drops seem to come. I find the same in gw2. It could be just a state of mind.
It’s like if you sit there watching the grass grow, nothing is happening, but if you forget about it and go have some fun doing other things, when you look at the grass again, voila its ready for mowing hehe.
What I’m trying to say, is if you want something really bad and you focus all your thoughts on it, the more you think about it the slower it seems to be happening.

2 weeks of nothing but blues, whites, and “junk” while half my guild was getting 3 ectos an event.

It’s not “all in the mind”.

There’s broken DR in this game that punishes a consistent group of players (as in the same people for WEEKS) arbitrarily, and nobody has a clue how to avoid it.

Look I don’t farm, nor do I run dungeons. I simply play the PVE game and if i get some reward all well and good. If you play the game simply for rewards and that’s all you think about, you will never be satisfied. Sure, more drops are always nice, but I personally feel I get rewarded enough just playing normally and I don’t even use MF. Granted I don’t get lots of rares, or exotics or w/ever but those items are supposed to be rare drops anyway.
But despite my not farming, I have 6 toons all decked out in exotic gear and got enough stuff to equip my latest toon that’s lvl 51 atm. I have all the crafts maxed out and got 80+ gold in my bank and I would have lot more had I not spent it on mats to finish up some of the crafts etc, and buying a few weapons that i liked the skins of. I still have to make exotic jewellery for most of them but that’s something that will come in time and it gives me something to work towards. And all of this, I’ve done with just playing the game normally, occasionally selling mats or items i find I don’t need etc.
After playing gw1 for years, I understand that getting everything up to the standard you want takes time and really if you got everything in 1 day, you would just end up being bored with the game and not having anything to strive for.
That’s how I feel about it all anyway.

I’ve read this forum now for some time and seen a lot of complaints, demands rage quitting etc.
Yet when the devs do something good and actually show they listen to players, there’s very little thanks for it.
For eg: I’ve seen people ask for Anet to add Rare Items bank slot, show some form of map completion, fix various bugs, etc and they did.
In the last update many good things were done including the above, which shows they DO listen and take note of what we say, yet there’s hardly any posts that acknowledge their efforts and say thank you.
Well I for one would like to say thanks Anet for listening to us and for great improvements you are making to the game.
Keep up the good work and Merry Christmas to you all!

Considering they are generally on full even in the middle of the frigging night, I get the feeling that full doesn’t actually mean the server has a lot of users online at that moment. I sense some odd math going behind this.

I mean how on earth would a server be full at 3am every day of the week pretty much? Honestly there is some weird stuff going on with that.

that’s because 3am for you could be 4pm for me. not everyone plays in the same timezone, and ppl in EU play on american servers, one of my best friends lives in France while i live in US and we both play on a NA server.

Yes and what about Oceania players? IE: New Zealand, Australia, All Asian countries. They all play on NA servers too with a big time difference.

The reward was that your friends got to free-sample the game.

Why does everyone hate Trahearne?

I finally leveled my main through to 80 and through the story and…well, Trahearne is freaking awesome. I never felt overshadowed by him, more like partners. Throughout the plot it was obvious that we saw our development alongside Trahearne’s own growth.

I dunno, not ranting or anything, I just don’t get all the hate. Is it envy for that wicked greatsword he’s got or something? He’s pretty cool, IMO (but yeah, dat sword).

Totally agree. I love Trahearne! I love the way he appears out of nowhere at Claw Island, so mysterious so wise and knowledgeable about Orr. The only thing lacking imo is the voice over which tends to come across flat and bit monotone. And the only time i felt a twinge of annoyance was when he took credit for the name of Fort Trinity, but I don’t blame him, I think it was simply an oversight by the script writers.

The zone design is amazing.

Tiger Ashante.1792

The zones are beautifully done. I like the whole storybook feel they tried to do. It really gives the game a unique look that lends itself very well to exploration.

Although I still give atmosphere and sheer awe to LoTRO.
— First walking down the ramp to Rivendell
— First time entering Moria (pretty much the entirety of Moria)
— or Seeing the Northern Lights of Forochel.

or more recently

— riding into the Sutcrofts of East Rohan the first time and hearing the magnificence of the full Sutcrofts Musical Score in the background.
— Bree Town also recently (PTS) received an awesome graphical revamp – and it is a great reminder of what Turbine does so well. That is, the ability to make a place more than just a collection of pretty things to look at – but a place that you feel a part of.

EDIT: Here’s the musical score to the Sutcrofts. Go to 0:44 for epicness. ;P

Yes Lotro is nice but kinda dull compared to gw2. Love the music tho. I played lotro for about a year b4 gw2 came out. It was always a filler game for me between gw1 and gw2, so naturally when gw2 came out i more or less stopped playing lotro altho i did log in a few times recently to check Rohan and the mounted combat, which is rather cool.

OP, not just maps but cities are amazing too. I remember when i first saw each place i spent hours (mouth gaping) looking at all the superb details down to the last brick in the wall and even drainage in the middle of the streets. Nothing was missed and then when i ventured out into the open world the awe continued and still does tho i’ve seen every map many times i never get tired of them. I only wish that sometimes there no enemies for a few minutes so i can truly stand around and admire the beauty, especially in Orr.
Even in gw1 (for its age) the artwork was amazing and it would take a lot of effort by some game company to beat gw2 in its art design. This is why i have much faith in Anet to come good eventually on all other issues in the game, because in the end, these guys are perfectionists and they must be terribly frustrated that things are not working perfectly across Tyria.

Just recently my HoM rewards got finally fixed, so I was able to access the items. I was really looking forward to the Fellblade as I really liked it in gw1. However, not only was I disappointed in the looks of it (it looks nothing like gw1 Fellblade) and the animations, but it clips really bad when using the HoM armor as well. Haven’t really checked it against all the gear but anyway this shot tells it all. So no Fellblade for me /sad face.
Don’t really know if the character details such as lvls etc matter since the HoM items are available for all lvls/classes, but I’ll at list mention the fact the picture is of my Human Mesmer.

Issues with character art, weapons, or armor?

I’m not sure if this is the right area to post this but I have just recently started a new character and noticed during the cinematics in my personal story, lot of the npcs are completely bold, including Zojja during the initial Destiny Edge meeting in LA. At first I wasn’t sure what to make of it but as it kept recurring I realised it must be a bug.

Farming for Legendary is rediculous.

Tiger Ashante.1792

Omg people! What is wrong with you? The Legendary was supposed to take you a long time to achieve as you play the game normally, not go farming/grinding for it!
It took me almost 2 years to get my Obsidian Armor in gw1, never farmed anything just played the normal game and eventually got so rich i could buy as many Obby armor sets as i wanted. Probably had enough money to get it earlier but was collecting other Elite sets i liked first. anyway, you guys are so impatient, the game is 3 months old and you all want your Legendaries already!
Seriously, give it a rest!

Hello everyone, just to start out I’m a fan i don’t work for Guild War2. I have been playing Guild Wars 2 for a week and I have 72 hours in says xfire. There are a lot of issues in this game. I think people need to understand that Guild Wars 2 is trying there best to fix this. I do understand we paid 60 bills for this game, but we don’t have monthly fee and this is completely a new style for MMO. This is very sweet for the Guild War Players. I feel that Guild War2 will have these issues fixed soon. So everyone just have fun.

Hey welcome to gw2, and indeed it is nice to see some positive posts. I’ve been playing since BWE1 and still enjoying the game, despite many issues bugging me. The enjoyment overrides those.
The fact is. like stated by some above it is a new game, many features are novel with no precedent so it must be harder to sort them out, but they will be in time. Sadly some people have no patience and want everything yesterday.
Another fact is, we have a nice canvas laid out in this game, the base game is there, fantastic landscapes/cities, Personal stories, DE’s, hearts etc, and despite some being bugged, its generally working fine, so its only going to get better. Once the bugs are ironed out, new content added, we’re going to have ourselves a perfect little game here.
I too have tried to post some positive posts to take attention away from all these negativity, but sadly they get very little attention. Still we shouldn’t give up trying.
Good luck and have fun.

Fix the Aggro Switching Please!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Tiger Ashante.1792

Tiger Ashante.1792

I’ve lost count how many times I’ve died due to players sicking enemies onto me. They often aggro a whole train of them, run right past you (often deliberately ) and the enemy immediately switches aggro to you, leaving you to deal with them, while the person who sicked them onto simply runs off to get their precious nodes or w/ever.
Please fix this.
I believe you guys have worked hard to reduce/eliminate griefing via node sharing, kill sharing etc, but this is really getting on my nerves.
A solution: make it so the enemy only attaches its aggro to the original person that aggroed them, ignoring all other players they pass. When they lose that aggro, they simply return to their spawning location, once again, ignoring everyone else. I’ve never seen this aggro switching in any other game and if this was an intentional feature in gw2…well I really hate it and it will become much cause for complaints.

Has anyone experienced this and do you think it should be changed?
Thanks

Yea not a fan of downscaling myself. Much prefer to play at my level, after all I earned it. I’m not interested in taking anyones kills/bosses etc, just want to be able to move freely through lower maps I haven’t explored thoroughly without having to fight at all.

Happy 3-Month Anniversary Anet!

Tiger Ashante.1792

It’s been 3 month full of excitement and almost as much as upheaval lol, but I guess that is to be expected from a new game.
This is my first game where I’ve played since beta, all others were out for a few years when I joined. I must say it has been an interesting journey, but I would love to see more story content and hopefully new expansions to follow. I realize this may takes time, but with 5 characters at lvl 80 and not much interest in dungeons or pvp I’m eagerly awaiting some new stuff to do and maps to explore.
Perhaps the leveling is a bit too fast? I didn’t really rush it too much but focusing on 1 character and following my PS, I got to lvl 80 within 2 weeks of release. In other games, it has taken me months to reach max lvl with a similar amount of hours played.
I think there were too many hungry wolves (including myself lol) starved for something new and they devourered gw2 content with a gusto like I’ve never seen before. If you read lots of posts, lot of player say, I’ve been playing so and so game for 7 years etc and yea very starved for something new and perhaps it should have been stretched out a bit more, at least till more content is ready for release?
What do you think?
In any case, keep up the good work, well done Anet!

Ah kitten it. I love this game.

Despite not liking some aspects of the game, over all, I love it!
If all the impatient/demanding/complaining people on this forum and particularly those threatening to leave unless they get their own way (which reminds me sometimes of 9year olds stamping their foot in rage coz they didn’t get their lollies) just gave some time and breathing space to Anet, I assure you we’re going to have an even more brilliant game than it already is. I know, I played lots of gw1 and I know how capable these guys are. Even though some may not like gw1 to me it was simply awesome and gw2 even more so.

Just one?
I love Fireheart Rise, it is so well done.
Mount Maelstrom, Iron marches, Dredgehaunt Cliffs

Well perhaps I should have titled it fav map(s), it was very hard for me to choose just one lol. I think they’re all fantastic in their own way and I like most of them, except perhaps Orr, not because the art isn’t great but because i hate the risen hehe. So feel free to list as many as u like.

Do you feel like a 80 ?

Tiger Ashante.1792

Yea with the sidekick system its very hard to feel powerful at any lvl. Personally I don’t like the downscaling, would like to see it go all together. As I understand it, the reason this was introduced, was so that higher lvls can help lower lvl freinds etc, but seriously, how often does that really happen? Very little and for everyone to be reduced to having to fight lvl 1, 4 or w/ever when ur 80 is kinda demeaning imo. The only reason I’d go into lower lvl zones as a lvl 80 is to do exploration and suddenly i’m lvl 4! geez! And ofc, its not just lower zones, its all the zones. Only Cursed Shores, Lost Shores and parts of Frosgorge Sound are u playing at your lvl as an 80.
If Anet won’t remove the sidekick system entirely, then I wish they at least adjust it so that in any map say 20 lvls below you, the downscaling ceases to exit.

I think this is a bug. It appeared at the Quaggan village in Frostgorge Sound, not far from where the Htow dungeon entry is.
I was just there short while ago, doing my daily and I’ve been to this place many times b4, never seen it until today.
Took a screenie too.

Mine is Frostgorge Sound, I love the way ice gleams in the sun, the tall peaks, but most of all, I love the underwater scenes there. It’s really deep, giving you a sense of diving in a bottomless ocean. I also love the Kodan ships anchored in the various harbors , they’re so awesome. Not to mention Jormag’s Claw event, its truly spectacular.
The only thing that annoys me in that map are the Dredge, they somehow don’t belong there imo, but all else is spot on.

Edit: minor spelling errors.

Well considering that 10,000 post hread about the disaster that was the lost Shores weekend now seems to have disappated, I’d say people have moved on. Don’t forget all the crying was BEFORE they launched fractals….Now everything is all about lfg (pick you difficulty) fractals spam in LA. People moan, but they secretly love grinding the new gear

Yea well I don’t think they’ve all negative!

Dredgehaunt Cliffs: Sadistic Level Design?

“I think you’re mixing up two different zones (as I was when I made that post). It sounds like you’re talking about the vista where you have to go up straight ramps that turn at right-angles to one another, making your way towards a central area with a veteran and the vista. I also did that and had no problems with it.

But I’m talking about a dredge area where the ramp is a tight circular spiral. What happens is you get stuck with two enemies right in front of you, and an oscillator will come down the spiral from higher up, hitting you consistently at such an angle that you go flying far, far off the edge. There’s absolutely no way he can hit you back a little way down the spiral because, as I say, of the tightness of the spiral.

edit Here’s a picture. Imagine an oscillator standing at any point up the ramp from you. His attack is always going to hit you off the edge of the ramp, not down it.

(edited 21 days ago by Focksbot.6798)"

Did you know those rails next to the central pillar, you can use them. You just need to kinda hop over them on the way up. On the way down you can freely run down on them and in both cases, if you stick very close to the pillar, the dredge cannot knock you over. In fact the rails kinda act as a trap against KD.

Edit: Just to clarify, I meant slats not rails, srry.

I haven’t bothered reading this entire thread. After the first few, you realize it’s the same crap over and over like most of the posts on this forum. Arena Net this, Arena Net that.
Just wanted to say this: have you people ever thought Arena Net may not be in charge here anymore? That some “Higher Force” is pulling the strings? And that as much as they would love to respond to your concerns, they can’t? Read about Nexon and NCSoft recent issues. It may enlighten you.

Why do most of you prefer to play alone?

I don’t know if it has already been mentioned but I think introducing Global Chat system would resolve lot of the social issues where you can chat with people through the entire game and find out what is going on across Tyria. If there’s an event happening somewhere people will announce on this channel, so and so boss is up get over here. This chat should be an optional to turn on/off of course.
To complement this system, they should also introduce ability to join a party and enter a dungeon from anywhere in the world as you can now if you are in the same map. Why not extend it to the entire world? And when you exit the dungeon, it returns you to the place you were.
I think this would allow players to go about their business in the world of Tyria and keep an eye on people looking for groups for something that they want to do, rather the having to park themselves permanently in LA just find a group.
(meh I should have probably put this in the suggestion thread but I thought it was relevant to this as well)

Gw1> Gw2 Minions-Necro. Reson why.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Tiger Ashante.1792

Tiger Ashante.1792

Yes I agree, check this video out I made with my Necro in gw1, this is what I call a Minion Master. Granted having to heal minions was a drawaback but there was also an elite skill you could eventually get “Aura of the Lich” which allowed you to summon a minion every 90s without a corpse. Furthermore, this skill allowed you to summon a whole army of minions at once if they were corpses about. It was an amazing sight to see your Necro summon 10-12 minions with one action. And minions were there to protect its master in a meaningful way. GW2 MM build simply don’t facilitate that.
Just bear in mind too, my Necro here wasn’t even fully lvled up so she couldn’t have full complement of minions as yet.

Targeted Enemies Must be Identified Better

Tiger Ashante.1792

One of my biggest annoyances in gw2 is the lack of accurate target ID system. We need to better see who we have targeted especially in water, where there’s basically no visible target whatsoever.
Currently on land at least, we have a red ring around the foe’s feet, which is often obscured by terrain such as rocks etc and totally invisible in water or DE’s where there are lots of special effects.

My suggestion is to highlight the entire body of the targeted enemy in say, red aura that makes them stand out. In addition, there should be a bright, largish, say yellow dot on your mini map which tracks the targeted enemy. This would be very helpful in DE’s large or small and it would also indicate the distance of your target especially in water.
I believe this kind of system would help greatly in reducing target errors and unnecessarily aggroing the wrong enemies or those out of range etc.

What do you think?

Add Gems as Rewards?

in Suggestions

Posted by: Tiger Ashante.1792

Tiger Ashante.1792

Hi all,
I’m not really complaining about the rewards myself as its not that important to me as it may be to some people, but I’ve seen lots of others on this forum that do complain and I thought of something that may both revitalize the game and the reward system.

My suggestion is this: Add gems to the reward system for completing certain objectives/achievements in the game.

The figures below are examples only and Anet would have to decide what’s fair here. But I think these amounts would not really buy you much without having to purchase more gems; they would merely supplement the purchase of gems and encourage it.

It wouldn’t be the first game that’s done this. In Lotro for eg, they have a shop too and are big on selling things to players. Their micro transaction currency is Turbine Points (ironically TP for short lol) and they give TP’s as rewards for completing almost anything in the game for eg slayer deeds. They don’t give you much, but just enough to encourage you to complete the things in the game.

Complete the entire map = 5 gems

Complete 5 maps =20 gems

Complete 10 maps = 45 and so on.

Complete the Personal story =70

100% World = 100 gems +10000 karma + A Letter of Commendation with at least 2000 influence Points + the usual 2 gifts of the traveler etc.

(World Completion deserves the highest reward simply because of the time and patience required to do it).

And these could possibly be extended to deeds as well ie achieving certain titles since titles in this game as they stand now, are really quite meaningless.

Adding a few gems as rewards would allow everyone to save some but not enough where they wouldn’t have to purchase them in order to buy anything worth while, since these achievements can only be done once on any given character.
Having a few extra gems floating around the economy would ,I believe, stabilize the gem prices a bit better and cheaper gems would mean more people would end up buying them. The way I see it its a win, win scenario.

You may say why would Anet want to give gems away for tasks people do anyway, but the truth is not all people do. PvP only player for eg. I think this type of reward would encourage players (including PvP ones) to play all the content in the game and not simply skip through to lvl 80 and to Orr or FotM where they think the rewards are better, or just stick to one aspect of the game. This would fill the maps more and give more sense of busyness in the game.

Anyway, that’s my opinion of what I think would improve the rewards and ultimately the game itself, as it would make us feel more rewarded for completing the content and more motivated to do so. Because lets face it, once you’ve done all the content on 1 character, the novelty wears off and you need a bit of a push and incentive to continue doing it with alts. This, I think would encourage people to create more alts and hence, buy more character slots as well.

What are your thoughts on this?
Thanks for reading
Cheers
