I wouldn’t mind making some of the U/Water Legendaries if I was able to display them out water as well where i can actually see them. Some of them are really cool, so why can’t we do that?
Path 4 is too long, but actually the easiest of all arah paths…
I have to disagree, i’ve done path 3 several times and other than Lupicus i find it acceptable. Lupcus is hard but in a way he’s more straight forward than Simin to me. Simin is pure trickery and I hate that. With Lupicus, he’s actually a challenging boss and you have to have your wits about you to survive him, altho i think he’s way too OP imo and it becomes tedious and repetitive having to fight him on each path. With Simin on the other hand, most of us were yawning after a while.
I just came from Arah path 4 after spending some 5 hours in there and still leaving empty handed. This was the worst experience i’ve ever had in a game and in particular in any dungeon.
None of us had done this path b4 and so we thought it would be fun but it turned out into a nightmare. Having to fight that monstrosity Lupicus on every path is sheer madness itself but he was nothing compared to the stupidity of Simin encounter. We literally spent hours on her couldn’t figure out how to kill her. Some ppl quit so we replaced them with others who had supposedly done it b4 and even after giving us some guidance on how to do it, we couldn’t finish it. It was the dumbest, most boring boss encounter ever!
I stayed for so long as the girl who originally started the group needs path 4 to finish her dungeon master. Poor thing, she has literally spent 8 hours in there trying and i did my damnedest to help her but in the end, i finished up with a headache and so tired, i couldn’t carry on and had to leave her in there. She was all alone, was still there some time after i had gone, no doubt trying to form another group. I felt bad leaving her but i couldn’t take the stupidity of the whole thing any longer.
How is a person who’s never done this b4 supposed to actually do it? What exactly did the devs think of when they created this moronic scenario? That it’s going to be fun? Challenging? Well its none of those. The only thing it left me feeling is totally annoyed and angry that i wasted all that time in there. Simin wasn’t challenging at all, the whole thing was totally stupid. You get her to 50% health, she disappears and heals then reappears…the whole infinite cycle is just that same thing that goes on and on and on and on ad nasueum. Really, REALLY disappointed.
To add insult to injury, i had gotten 4 blue bags during the run. These bags hold 3 arah tokens, some karma and a silver or 2. When i got back to town went to open my blue bags and there’s only 1 left in my inventory. I know what some may say, you must have opened them but if i did i would have those tokens still in my bag and no, i did not open them, they simply disappeared from my bags. And no, my bags weren’t full either. So is this how you reward your players? Even the paltry rewards you get for such a gigantic effort, you make them vanish? Are they on a timer or something, so if you don’t open them within certain time they disappear? Or is this yet another bug and we just have to choke it up?
Well that really made me mad, because I need those tokens for Bifrost. Another 150 and losing those bags was the last straw. I don’t think i’ll bother with it any more. Screw Arah. Screw Legendary Weapon and Screw your friggin dungeons!
Reading everyone comments you guys really really misread mine lol For starters why do you have to farm for it? Just play normally and the materials for your legendary will drop all in do time. By forcing yourself to get one your taking the fun out of getting one and all you can say when you get one is I just spent X amount of time farming or buying off of TP. Where as I will go I spent X + Y amount of time actually playing the game for fun not a job. If I want to farm for materials i go play Perfect World like really you don’t have to have that legendary right now.
What will be the difference between getting your legendary right now compared to 2 years from now? Nothing expect cost (it should be lower if your smart and saved your materials) and more choices of legendaries to pick from. You guys do realize they are going to release new ones eventually that probably be better then what they have now.
To all those who mentioned lfg site, i know about it, but i resent having to go to an external site to find a group in gw2. that just don’t seem right to me somehow, but i guess i may have to resort to that.
@Suddenflame, i never really farmed, i played the game since head start and lvled x8 chars, one of each class. i saved all the t6 mats i acquired in the course of leveling my chars and getting them all 100% world completion. but despite that, I’m not even close to getting enough mats for leg weap. just the crystalline dust, i would need 750 for bifrost and i only have like 160 atm. its not cheap to buy either, in fact more expensive than ectos right now.
I decided right at the start i won’t be rushed into getting a legendary weapon and saw it as a long term goal, never actually thinking i’d run out of things to do…at least those i’m interested in doing, before i get my LW. but I got to a point now where i don’t really have anything much left to do in the game other than LW and it is an achievement after all. so a little while ago, i began doing little amounts farming. I can’t do it for long, i hate farming for anything really, would much rather just play the game, but i feel i need something to keep myself interested in the game until some new maps are opened up.
Some will tell me to go try some other game, but there’s nothing out there i’m interested in atm.
And the truth is, some t6 mats only drop from certain enemies in certain places, so you’re kind of forced to go there and give it a shot.
I don’t use MF on my gear, i only take some food for it, but i swear most of the time i get better drops without it lol. Frankly i don’t believe in MF. one shouldn’t have to sacrifice one’s gear stats just to get decent drops, in fact i think its extremely wrong to force players into that. most people say unless u get at least 50% mf, don’t bother with it, but the highest level of food as far as i know is only 40% hence forcing ppl to sacrifice important stats on their gear to enhance mf. simply no!
Anyway, i’ll keep trying for a while longer, but i must admit (and i never thought i’d say this as i had awaited this game for a long time and love and dislike many things about it…its definitely a love hate relationship atm lol), but i’m getting extremely bored with gw2 now. so i’m now awaiting some of the new games coming out this year, like ESO and give them a try.
I see many post on this forum of maxed out players getting bored and nothing of interested to do. I have no doubt gw2 will improve over time, but to me, instead of putting out and wasting resources on temporary content, they should be focusing on adding meaningful expansions to the game. its frustrating being bored, yet seeing all them inaccessible maps all around us, taunting us. it seems such a waste and if they opened them up, that would alleviate much of the boredom ppl are feeling right now.
And please, just bear in mind, now everyone is interested in WvW, pvp, dungeons etc. so save ur suggestions for those to another thread.
My mesmser was my 1st lvl 80, got her there within 3-4 weeks of the game release and have played staff for most of the time since, so i know my staff skills very well and how they work.
Aside from the usual problem with Phase retreat #2 staff skill of getting stuck in terrain/graphics, below map etc, (although it don’t happen as often now days as it used to) I have another issue with this skill, which has been bugging me for sometime. It began either after November or December patch not sure which but its been there a while now. I keep hoping with each new patch it would get fixed, but so far nothing has changed.
Basically what happens after i use this skill, 90% of the time i find myself facing away from the enemy, ie my back turned to them which i find very disorienting. This never used to happen, it would always jut me backward in the right direction. So if i’m facing enemy when using the skill, then i would still be facing them after the execution. Now, as i say, most of the time it turns me about face, where i’m facing away from the enemy.
Is anyone else experiencing this? I’m wondering if this is a bug or is it working as intended?
Yep, severely, just about given up on making my Bifrost, not only because of bad drops but i cannot find anyone wanting to do Arah runs to get the necessary tokens. I mean i spent a whole evening playing in CS last night, trying to find a group and not 1 lfg for Arah in all that time, nor did i get any response to mine.
I’ve spent most of my playtime in Frostgorge over the past few months but only began seriously farming for t6 mats in the last month or 2. i get an odd pce here and there, some more than others, but 3 i get virtually none of is elaborate totems, armored scales and crystalline dust.
I hate grawls due to their insane respawn rate….which is probably good for farming but i’m sick of the mobbing. I mean i kill one, his body is still falling down and another pops up right under him. But this is true also for bears there as well, but not as bad as grawls. So i kill maybe 50-60 grawls and i’ll be lucky to get 1 or 2 totems, sometimes none. its very frustrating to say the least and very time consuming for no results.
I wonder what happened to fun in gw2 that i used to feel in gw1 where i never felt unrewarded for my efforts?
there easier(1 bounty vs 2 bounties). Training is supposed to be just that TRAINING there only something to help practice and get the influence so when you do do the real thing your not complaining here again to the forums about how you couldn’t do it and you still didn’t get your chest.
Oh really? if that’s the case why are large guilds, or any size guilds for that matter, allowed to do these training missions? Why wasn’t there a guild size number restriction so larger guilds, who can lick this kind of training mission any time they please due to their large membership, cannot abuse this system? It seems to me, all the training missions have done is given even more easy ways for large guilds to earn influence points, making the gap between large and small guilds even larger. GG indeed!
Dandelions everywhere! I gather a Passion Fruit and I get a dandelion with it, I gather a herb and I get a dandelion with it, I gather a variegated vegetable and I get a dandelion again….enough already! It would be nice to get a bit more often U/D dye, or even a Passion Flower instead hmmm?
Thanks for making me hate dandelions lol.
Guardians Of Divinity are looking for active member to represent the guild.
I created this guild during prelaunch and had about 50 members, but most of them stopped playing. Later on, I had some technical issues that basically stopped me from doing anything in my guild and now that has been sorted out, I would like to rebuild my guild.
I currently have all guild upgrades to tier 3 and some to 4. I have the guild training missions queued to unlock and just need people now.
I’m not looking to make a mega guild here. Rather, I want our members to feel as though they know each other and are part of a small tight-nit community who may be interested in all sorts of aspects of the game, including Role Playing which we want to encourage as part of our future activities.
If you would like to join, please send me a forum PM, or simply reply to this thread and let me know if you would like an invitation.
Cheers and see you in the game!
Yes I would like to know what’s causing this as well. Particularly in the last month or 2, world events like Jormag became unplayable both due to lag and skill lag, now its mainly skill lag causing problems. My skill lags aren’t just 3-4 seconds its more like several minutes. On an odd occasion i can actually do these events without problems, but that is rare. Most times all i can do is stand there and watch the show after each skill i click on just keeps rotating for what seems like an eternity and sometimes they never fire off before the event is finished.
This is really frustrating as I’ve just invested into a new Graphic card and my frame rate during these times is 25-35 yet i cannot fire off skills.
Please, please fix this problem.
P.S. for those who may insinuate its my internet connection, my connection is still the same as it was a month ago or 2 months ago when i never had issues with the world events, but in the last couple of months things have gotten worse and worse.
OMG! You’ll all be pleased to know I got my guild back! Yes, finally. Not due to Anet’s support but due to DancinWookie logging in and reverting leadership back to me! I’m so relieved i can finally do things in my guild.
I just hope this thread has helped other people not to make the same mistake and encouraged Anet to add features to Guilds to prevent this type of error ever occurring. I also hope this thread don’t get closed, as it may still help other people, especially those new to the game.
Finally thank you all for your support and understanding, it really means a lot and it was your support that kept me hanging in there this long.
Cheers and happy gaming!
(…)
Um, the post that you quoted does admit that there should be a confirmation, as do most of the posters in this thread, including me.Sadly ANet will not -and should not- do anything about this issue. They have no business messing with guild matters whatsoever, for any reason. Yes, I’ve read this entire thread and while I sympathize with the OP, I don’t see any reason for Support to intervene. It wasn’t a hacked account, or a bug, or anything else that caused this issue. Yes, as we’ve all already established, there should be better controls to keep a guild leader from inadvertently giving up that role.
What if the OP stepped down as leader intentionally, but then changed her mind and now wants leadership back? How does Support know the actual circumstances, not just in this case but in any future requests they might receive asking for the same thing? All they have is the testimony of the affected person, which isn’t much to go on (no offense). That is my reasoning for why they shouldn’t intervene, and I think that is also their reasoning.
Understandable from your point of view. Points to consider:
a) The leader is not able to name a successor
b) Anet does not have to guess, they see that the automatically appointed new leader has not been and is not online.
c) The system is how it is for a fact, try it out yourself. All you have is the testimony as you put it – certain reaction and impulses are only natural, but if you take a step back then you will see that the design/functionality is faulty.
It’s a grey zone, no question – which is exactly why there have to be better rules and why there is a need for a better functionality.
Take the usurp function in Lotro for example, the possibility to name a successor.
See the link to the official reply in regards to the leader being banned further up (thread page 3) – there would even be no guess work from Anet there.
Very well put.
Anyway, I’ve been in contact with support again and they tell me new guild features and an automated leader promotion of some kind are in the works. As to when they will be implemented and what exactly they are, or if they will help to fix my situation, I have no idea, as I was given no further information. I can only hope something happens in the March update.
@Geotherma
“You know if you had enough people, maybe 30? Who put 2g into a guild with the name you wanted you would probably be back to where you were. 30 people x 2g is 15,000 influence I think. I have my own personal guild and it has all the buffs of the guild I’m actually in minus pvp and the new addons. That’s just from tossing influence into it every now and then.”
Getting 30 people wouldn’t be easy to begin with and to get them to contribute gold would be even harder, but sure if you could get that many, it would definitely help.
However, my guild has all the upgrades to tier 3, some tier 4 and I have 10k influence saved up, plus quite a few buffs made up ready for use. But to give you an idea, just to get my guild bank upgrade to treasure trove cost me 15k influence, so it’s a lot to lose on one hand and on the other, 15k in itself doesn’t get you very far. It certainly wouldn’t get me nowhere near to the upgrades i have now.
Also, I would feel this loss even more because all 8 of my characters have completed the personal story and along the way, each one got1400 influence as rewards. All of that was sunk into this guild and since they cannot receive that reward ever again, it would be a complete waste and all that work would have been for nothing. This is one of the reasons I’m hanging in there in hope this thing gets sorted out soon.
Edit: small typing error
There’s a underwater area in Frostgorge Sound that surrounds Honor of the Waves Ship that has a lot of jellyfish vets. When a daily has a vet achievement, i’ve often try to kill them and 99% of them time, when their hp is down to 1/3, they suddenly go invulnerable, start swimming away from me for a bit, fully heal then come back at me again. Meanwhile, I’m still locked in combat and cannot heal, while he gains full health. I can’t be bothered with them any more, but this is typical of u/water combat.
It happens on land as well but not as frequently. However, I must say these jellyfish are probably the worst i’ve encountered.
Although this was a bohoo on your part, I agree that the guild panel functions are extremely not user friendly. For example, I can accidentally right click a member and upgrade him to a guild leader without any warning or undo ability and then completely lose access to my very own guild.
I noticed this kind of problem since the very first day and was testing out the “accidents” we can run into with such things with a close friend. Needless to say, it’s not surprising yet reaffirming that anet has very kitten poor support… It’s always the same copy and paste sentence, “we are sorry that this happen to you, we can’t do anything about it even though it was our fault”.
In most games, guild leaders are bound to the account so if the guild leader quits, usually the guild cannot be sustained anymore. In this case, Anet should have a simple confirmation box before a guild leader transfer is done. possibly similar to a character delete confirm box "are you sure you want to change guild leaders to xxx, please type your account name to confirm (or email address or guild name, whatever works)
Very well put, that’s all is needed to prevent this kind of blunder. I haven’t given up trying to contact this inactive leader but it seems everything I,ve tried up to now, I’ve hit a brick wall.
On another note. Sorry I’ve not been able to reply to everyone, been busy this last week formatting my drive and installing window7 on my pc and going through all the pains of upgrading stuff. Still need to finish some things, but got it mostly done.
Thanks everyone for your comments and understanding, I really appreciate it and keep hoping this situation will get sorted out eventually.
Lvl 1 fractals aren’t just “1 part” of the fractals, they can encompass all the fractal types except solid ocean which appears at fracals lvl 2.
The only dungeon I haven’t done multiple times is Arah, and I have yet to see any groups turn away a level 80 that’s willing to pay attention and try. I don’t know how anyone can be always locked out of experiencing it just ‘cuz they’re “new” at it.
If you’re trying to do AC or CM on-level, sometimes groups don’t want to take the newbs, and that’s a small shame if you don’t have a guild that’s willing to do so, but it really doesn’t take long to level to 80, and when you’re 80 there’s honestly not much to do except grind, do dungeons and fracs, and WvW anyway so do it then. Newbs are really a small section of the playerbase and it doesn’t make sense for Anet to re-gate all the content to work for them for the small period between whatever level they are and the inevitable moment when they’re 80.
Well I think ur assuming that gw2 isn’t getting new players on ongoing basis. As long as this game is running there will always be newbies in the game, not to mention those people who play the game casually and it takes them a long time to get to lvl 80.
All I can see is this making it harder than it already is to get into dungeons then it already is outside of level 80.
Why? I actually think it would do the opposite. There are lots of players out there who would like to try a dungeon, but can’t get into a group or form one, either due to lack of confidence or no one wanting to give them a go because they’re wrong lvl or whatever.
This way anyone can form whatever lvl group they want and give it a try. If some choose a lowest level for eg and the dungeon lvl gap and their true lvl is too large they could maybe do it wit 4 instead of 5 ppl etc.
Also, there could be a lvl cut off. In the upward direction, if u try to to do much higher lvl than your actual char lvl (so as to stop suicide jokeys lol), they may not enter the dungeon unless they’re within say 3-5 lvls or something like that.
Going downward, there’s no cut off but, if u go below certain lvl you get no rewards or exp or anything, but you can still experience the place. I know people who just want to do it for exploration achievement purposes and don’t really care about the dungeon rewards.
Fractals has this. Do level 1 fractals to your heart’s content and you learn the whole thing, then do higher levels and the rewards scale up.
There’s no reason to fiddle with the old content to better gate it for the bads. There should be no “easy” Arah. And if you could easily survive subject alpha’s AoE, noobs would never learn how to do it right.
no
Well ur suggestion doing lvl 1 Fractals over and over isn’t exactly what i’m proposing. All dungeons should be available for this not just 1 part of 1 dungeon.
Saying, ‘fiddling with old content for the bads’, implies that people who would want this are bad players and it sounds a bit condescending actually. They may be as good as anyone, but just want to see what it’s like and maybe learn, but since most people don’t want to run dungeons with newbies and some of these places are very hard, they will never experience it and that’s a shame really.
Do you realise how much work this would be for a dev to scale let’s say even 1 instance? 35 to 80 thats 45 different dungeons basically, yes the framework is there but each mob would have to be scaled. Now multiply that by each of the paths. Then multiple it by how many other dungeons.
I don’t know how much work it would take but, Lotro had this type of scaling system for instanced areas such as dungeons or skirmishes. It was a great option to have actually.
I’m sure there’s a way to do this. I don’t think they would have to manually scale every lvl like that, but then again I’m not game dev so don’t know for sure. Just figured if other games are able to accomplish this, don’t see why anet couldn’t. I would have thought downscaling/upscaling players was a much bigger job, but they did it.
To what end? What exactly do you gain by being 80 that you lose by being a lower level even though you’re actually 80?
Experience in learning how the dungeon works without dying 1000 deaths! It would allow people to run the dungeon in “easier mode” if you like if they only want to do it for a bit of fun and exploration and don’t really care too much about getting the highest rewards all the time.
I know lots of people who would like to do dungeons but have heard they’re very hard and have been discouraged from trying them, even in story mode. This would encourage everyone to do them, young and old and btw, if you’re lvl 80 and don’t want to do lower levels then don’t! Do the lvl 80 tier instead.
I feel your pain and know how hard this must be, but if you can’t get help from them, you need to help yourself. Since there were so many in the old guild that were inactive anyway, remake the guild. Yes you’ll lose the influence and things you’ve already learned but consider it a lesson hard learned. Considering you still get to keep your guild I think you got out easy. It could have been worse and the rank could have gone to someone who went power-hungry and completely destroyed your guild. Remake it, rebuild from the ashes, heck that could open up for a lot of interesting new names too. A year or so from now you’ll all have a nice laugh about it and I’m sure it will become the running joke for a while. It’s not the end of the world. Dust yourself off, rebuild.
You actually do lose your guild if u want to create another one. I checked the options and got none from the guild registrar and in the guild window itself, the only option i have is to step down. Which is kind of odd. Stepping down would imply I’m actually leading/heading something which obviously I’m not currently.
So I guess if I want to create another guild, I would have to abandon this one. That may not seem such a big deal, but even more than losing all the upgrades and influence I’ve built up, I don’t want to lose my guild name.
Create an interface when entering a dungeon that gives an option to choose at what lvl you want to run the dungeon.
The rewards should scale up or down according to the level chosen. There should be minimum and maximum level the dungeon can scale to. So for eg: AC can only go as low as lvl 35 and as high as lvl 80 and anything in between.
This would allow inexperienced players (both on level and higher) to run dungeons at various levels until they learn how it works and gain the necessary experience. On the other hand, it can also provide a greater challenge for people who want to brave higher lvls than their actual level.
The level 80 tier of the dungeon should be most challenging, sort of like Hard Mode to provide that bit of extra challenge for those who want it, but also the highest rewards.
I think this would add more variation to dungeons and allow everyone to experience them regardless of their level (well at least for those above lvl 35 that is).
Arenanet…look.
However you address the issue, please, address it. Most of the people I know on my own server cannot do events right now. We get sent to overflow.
Every time. No matter what time of day.
This is getting out of hand. You’re going to start losing players, fans, and future customers over this. Further, if you don’t do something about it, you effectively have broken your own game.
I don’t know a solution. Undo the one chest a day thing? Create separate instance servers that allow overflowed individuals to complete the event? Turn off guesting? I do not know.
What I do know, is that people will start to leave GW2 if they cannot complete the dragon events, since they are a large part of gameplay.
I suppose THAT would solve the problem…but it seems a horrible solution to solve lag by accidentally depopulating your servers due to player disenchantment.
Please, do something.
Best,
-Oso
Yep agreed. Something must be done. It’s happened to me several days in a row now where i get kicked during the event. Before that, at least since the Feb patch, the event was almost unplayable due to lag, but i was able to finish it. In the last few days, I’ve been kicked out every time i attempted the event (Jade Quarry).
As an eg: Just now, i was in F.S. for at least an hour or more doing my dailies when the event popped up. Half way through it, just when jormag appeared, i was suddenly rubber banded all over the place, then kicked to the char select screen. When i logged back in, i was placed in an overflow and ofc missed out on the event once again.
Yesterday, on a different character doing my dailies, same thing happens, jormag popped up, i joined and just b4 getting the chest i was kicked out of the game, I left my favorite map in disgust. I don’t think I’ll bother with it any more, it’s not worth the trouble.
@Tiger,
Hey I found this in another forum.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/account/No-guild-leader/first#post1571625
I think this is a good sign they stuff will be coming in the future to help you.
Thanks for that link Hjorje, hopefully there’s something in the works to fix issues like what happened to me as well.
I would feel much better thought, if I had some reasurance in way of a direct reply from someone in the company on this thread. However, it gives me a glimmer of hope that at least they’re working on something that may improve guilds features in general.
I posted this before, but several posters quickly derailed the thread with personal insults and such. Lets keep it civil this time.
With the World Events guaranteeing rares, it has become everyone’s favorite farming spot. Because they have timers, people are guesting to other servers in an attempt to find a server where events are about to occur.
And why wouldn’t you, when hitting the Maw shaman for 20 seconds net you a yellow, with a high chance of exotics?
This has caused huge lag/overflow problems at the events themselves. The events themselves are no longer fun to do because of the large amount of people.
There’s obviously technical limitations to the engine and bandwith that is hard to get around. So I’m going to assume that fixing lag/culling/overflow issue is a engine-level problem, something difficult to solve.
So I propose the following solutions.
1. Decrease rare/exotic drop rate from 90% or whatever to 25%. Still quite high, but not nearly guaranteed like it is right now.
OR
2. Limit chest to one account per character.
I propose these solutions because I think they’re well within the realm of possibility of you guys. You changed loot tables, so obviously that shouldn’t be too hard, and you have character/account based rewards, so that too shouldn’t be too bad.
If not, then the problems with lag and people getting kicked out to overflow will continue. Now while I’d love for you guys to fix that, or make rewards home-server-character-specific, but I imagine that takes a lot more effort to do. If you can do it though, great! But if not, at lease please consider the mentioned solutions.
TL;DR Loot rate for World Events too high for the minimum effort they require, causing World Events to be not fun. Barring technical solutions (Which I understand is hard) should nerf loot rates, because I honestly don’t mind less loot if the events themselves are much more fun to do.
I honestly can’t believe people on this forum. I mean all I’ve read here in the past few months is complaint after complaint about lack of loot, or at least decent loot. Now the loot has been improved, the complaints of ‘too much’ loot are starting to appear. Geez! Is there no pleasing u people!
Yes there is a lag issue, i suffer it badly, but to nerf the loot as the solution is not right, not after all the complaining I have seen about it on this forum. Even limiting events to 1 per account is unfair to all those people who have invested time and money on leveling multiple alts. What exactly then is the use for alts if you cannot use them in all the content in the game whenever and however u want? I don’t bother chasing these events on different toons as some people do, but if I wish to do that, I should be able to.
Having said that, something has to be done about the lag problem. Anet prides itself on these big events, the more the merrier. Well, I guess as the saying goes, ‘be careful of what you wish for’. They’ll have to find some other solution to this problem. Perhaps they’ll have to increase the server capacity and even limit the guesting to once per week, which i think has contributed to this overcrowding problem.
So first off, for those who don’t know what it is.
“Inspecting gear” is a feature where you can check anyones gears in a UI. By right clicking or something else.
My view on this:
It would make it easier to check out someones gear if you’re curious. You wouldn’t have to link every piece.
But then again, It would also increase the level of “gear checking” for dungeons, etc. At that would pollute the community. “You must have x gear to enter this group”. Just like the “You have to be warrior to join this group”, only worse.
It would also make it easier to bash somone because of their gear.
These are the only things i can think about when it comes to this topic.
So, i ask you.
Should it be implented? Or not? Give us your opinion!
The inspect feature would not bother me as much provided you had an option to enable/disable it, like you can in Lotro for eg. So those people who don’t want to be inspected, can tick a privacy box or some such, perhaps in the Hero panel or general options menu. However, this still may not prevent elitists demanding you to turn on the inspect feature and bar you from joining a party if you refuse.
I know a lot of people have asked for gear inspection, so I guess it’s up to Anet if they want it in their game or not.
I must admit though, there were times when I wished this feature was available so I could inspect someone with a particular shield, weapon or armor skin I liked and learn what it is. I know one can always ask ofc and I’ve tried, but often got no response, perhaps because they may have been afk or simply didn’t want to answer. Ultimately though, this is a minor inconvenience compared to the problems it may create with gating etc, but if it had enable/disable feature, it would at least allow people some flexibility.
Reddit is another place to try. A lot of people that play gw2 (there is actually a gw2 sub-reddit) post there. Try there too.
Thanks Infernia, but I don’t think this new guild leader hangs on Reddit. He seems to be hanging out on Steam but so far, I’ve not been able to use any of the community services, such as forums, add him as a friend, unless I buy some game. Apparently, these restrictions were put in place to stop gold-sellers and their ilk harassing players. So close yet so faraway, very frustrating.
Agreed. I don’t ever camp dragon events but i spend most of my time in Frostgorge Sound doing my dailies etc. So if I happen to be near Jormag event I usually like to participate. I actually bought a new graphic card a couple of weeks as I couldn’t play that event after jan patch. Now, even with my super duper card, I cannot play at all. I just stand still thru the event my skills all rotating but not firing. In the last few days, this event has been the worst of gw2 I’ve experienced as far as lag is concerned. The even is simply unplayable and I’m on JQ server since bwe1. Never guested, never moved servers and now i can’t play on my home server any more.
It seems to me this guesting is being exploited to the extreme and something really must be done about it.
I suggest limiting guesting to once per week per character and if someone wants to do it more often then they have to pay for it like for world transfer. That should fix the problem. I don’t believe penalizing people who do not abuse the system (like myself and who stay on their home server) should suffer as a result and it would be extremely unfair.
I recall when guesting was originally announced, it was stated that people who wanted to guest, had to have friends on the server they wanted to visit. I’ve seen nothing mentioned about this restriction when guesting was introduced. That could be the problem in itself.
I have sent him a friend invite.
Hopefully he will accept and I can explain your problem.
-Edit-
Chances are he will not accept a random friend invite,1 thing you could try is joining the Steam Forums and in the off topic make a post,he may check those forums or maybe someone that knows him might see it.I tried sending a private message to ‘dancinwookie’ on those forums but that user was not found,he could have another name on the forums though.
Could be worth a go.
Thanks for that, but if you spell his name as you posted there, it may be incorrect. It has to read exactly like this; DancinWookie
With Cap D and W. but I really appreciate you doing this.
P.S. I did try to post on the forums but it said I wasn’t allowed to do that. Which basically means I have no access to those features unless i buy something from them.

I think I may have found DancinWookie!
@Sosyc gave me this link to a Steam profile: http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198046824493 and I’m pretty sure that’s him.
If anybody out there has an active Steam account, would they please contact him on my behalf? A simple message for him to either contact Tiger Ashante, from Guardians Of Divinity (GOD), or log into guild wars 2 would suffice.
I actually created an account on Steam, thinking I could just message him, but I’m unable to interact with anything or anyone unless I buy games first, which I can’t do atm, so if anyone could help me here I would really appreciate it.
Thanks in advance
I posted a note on my Tumblr with the GW2 tags. Hopefully it will get around and someone who know the person, or even the DancinWookie will see it and be able to help.

Wow, you did that for me? I’m touched, thanks a lot. Hope something comes of it.
I think you’re taking this too serious, just restart your guild, life goes on, games go on too.
Maybe so, but I’m sure if you invested 2000 hours into something you would take it seriously too.
They should, at minimum, pass the guild leadership to an active member (even if it’s not you – I’m sure your members would do the right thing in that case). Perhaps the player with the most time played or has been in the guild the longest. Having active guilds with inactive leaders isn’t something that should be ignored by Anet. It’s an easy fix and there’s no reason it shouldn’t be rectified.
It’s interesting to me that a lot of people in this thread believe (as I do) this is an easy fix, which makes it even harder to swallow why it’s not being fixed.
I guess the poster above must but right, an individual customer don’t matter to this company and the fact that no one from the staff has even bothered to comment on this thread proves it.
Create a new guild. You can still have the same tag, if all the active members of your guild join your new one, you will also find out who is actively playing still.
It’’s a hard lesson but one that you won’t make again. In the new guild make sure you edit the leader title rather than making a fresh one.
Thanks for the suggestion Ema and of course that’s always an option, but as I stated earlier in this thread, I don’t think I could start one again. Especially now with the guild missions released, which make it impossible for smaller guilds to unlock missions, especially those starting out from scratch.
I got most of my guild upgraded to lvl 4 except Art of War which is only at lvl 1 atm. I do have a few k points but even with these upgrades in place, it would still take me a long time to unlock just the 1st tier of guild missions.
With Anet’s inaction in this matter however, they’ve basically sealed the fate of my guild. 2 weeks after the incident, most of my members have stopped representing me, but assure me they would resume if this matter is fixed.
Agreed, culling for me got worse with Jan patch but this latest Feb one made it really bad. I was doing jormag event and there were 4 commanders there. I was passing right by them, could see the commander icon but nothing else. Then suddenly a whole group of players materialized right before my eyes.
Yeah that would kitten me off for sure.
I honestly cant believe Anet support is so bad they refuse to help you with this.
I would submit a ticket every hour on the hour till this get resolved perhaps there is still one Anet employee out there that does still care and eventually you will get lucky and your ticket will end up on his screen and he can help you.
Lol yea. The problem is I don’t even know what to say any more. This whole thing has left me kind of numb and I’m just going through the motions of playing the game but not really enjoying it as much I did before all this happened. I tell myself, I have to stay logged in as much as possible in case this person logs on but it’s already been 2 weeks and I don’t know how much longer I can stick with this game in this situation.
Before updating the wiki make sure this person was in fact an officer. I don’t recall the OP ever saying this person was an actual officer or just a member.
You know what – I think you are not only right in that, but I think the answer given was false anyways because it was given to the 60 day inactive period, which turned out to refer to GW1.
My bad, I think it would be nice to know what rules apply in the case of accidentally removing oneself (as a leader). Obviously a system exists.
I can’t remember if that member used to be an officer, think I’ve been in the guild for 6 weeks or so and don’t recall ever seeing that person.
Yes he was an officer. I actually was going to demote him because his friends started a guild on another server and he began switching representation between mine and theirs (I wish I knew who they were, they might have been able to contact him for me) and I remember telling him I can’t have him as an officer if he’s going to keep switching representation. He then assured me it was only on occasions when he was playing in WvW since at that time my guild wasn’t very active there. I thought that was fair enough.
According to the Guild window information, he was in WvW last time he was logged on and that means he was not representing my guild at that time, yet the guild leadership was given to him! You would think if there was a system in place for this kind of thing, it would at least (like many people have commented above) pick someone who is active, but most of all, who is actually representing the guild in which he was being made the leader!
They should be able to go in an update your status. When I made myself a storage guild I didn’t give myself permissions. I sent in a bug report asking to be given leader status. It did take some time, but eventually I represented in to it to check and I had all the permissions. So, obviously they can do it.
Good luck on getting your guild back, this must be very frustrating.
I’m not sure if i should be happy or sad about this. It is obvious then since they fixed your issue, they’re can help me as well and that makes me hopeful, but at the same time, I feel sad and confused why they haven’t done so.
Yes i see that happen all the time and not just in Cursed Shores but in the Straits of Devastation West of the new wp. I always thought that was weird when i approach it how it suddenly just vanishes. Glad it wasn’t just me.
See if Gaile can help you. It might be that she cannot, but it’s worth a shot. She has a lot of heart and a good dose of common sense. I believe if she reads this, and actually has the ability, she will help you.
It might be that you are forced to abandon your guild and start over. That would be bad. But it would be better than losing the circle of people that you play with and call friend.
Keep us updated. I’m interested in knowing how it works out for you.
That’s a good idea. I have written a PM to a dev (not sure if I’m allowed to mention names here, but I better not just in case). Anyway, I have received no response so far, that was about week ago, but I do understand they must be very busy getting ready for the patch update.
I’m keeping my fingers crossed someone in the company will at least respond to this thread and let us know what they plan to do about this, because this will happen again and probably already has but not reported. If nothing else, I hope this thread prevents other folks making the same mistake in the future.
I see lot of people refer to me as a he, it’s actually a she.
Thanks once again for your support.
BTW, someone seem to have sneakily changed my thread’s title! I’ve not been notified of this change. It was called “Heartbroken” before. Well my heart still feels broken over this issue, but I’m extremely heartened by your support and constructive suggestions. I sincerely appreciate it.

OP – I HIGHLY recommend a TL;DR version for any moderator passing through. For anyone wondering… The OP made a custom rank for herself but forgot to give it all of the permissions of a Guild Leader. Thus when she switched herself to this rank, she was the lowest ranking member and it seems she can’t switch back.
Yes you are right, I will try to do that now, just not sure if it’ll let me ad it to my original post as it is already very long.
This information I quoted from support is now wrong!
Quote: “If a guild leader is inactive for 60 days (2 months) from the last login, as shown in Guild window, they will automatically be demoted to officer, and the most senior officer who was active in the past 60 days will be instantly promoted to leader. If there is no active officer in the guild, the most senior member who was active in the past 60 days will be promoted instead”.
They now tell me what they quoted me here is the system in gw1, not gw2. It seems there’s NO system in gw2 that can re-instate leadership once lost! Yet they have a system that can take your guild leadership away and give it to a random member, without any checks if that member is even still playing the game!
Furthermore, it seems that the only option I have in resolving this issue, is to rely on a person that is outside the company, the very player whom the system promoted to a leader and who has been inactive for some time and may never come back. This truly is the most ridiculous situation imaginable.
I am at a loss why they will not assist me in resolving this issue. A dev could fix this in a matter of minutes. A support staffer could send a an email to the player in question in a matter of minutes, but the best solution they can offer me is to use the forums in hope a dev will see and take notice of my thread/post to have this matter resolved, or simply wait for this player to come back. I truly feel like I’m playing in a twilight zone here not gw2.
When I hit B button I would like to see an option to view WvWvW maps while in PVE so i can see what state they’re in, who owns what without having to enter WvWvW to find that out.
Currently, as far as I know, that’s exactly what you have to do, and often queue up for a long time just to take a peak and see what the status is. I think this option would greatly help people who only want to explore the maps for their 100% and not bother going there if the places they need to discover are in enemy hands. I believe this would also help queues, leaving free space for the players who actually want to play WvWvW and it also may help rally people in PVE to assist their servers when they’re in trouble.
The guild system uses a fairly typical role-based security. There is no such thing as titles; they are simply named security categories. So, when creating one for yourself you need to make sure it has the permissions desired.
That said, I believe a warning dialog should be displayed when changing something as significant as guild leader. And, picking a member at random or otherwise as guild leader should not be the province of the software, it should require a human to make the selection. I wish you good fortune with the support folks at Anet. I know it must be a very uncomfortable position to be in.
Totally agree and what a lot of people seem to forget is that many players in gw2 have never run a guild before, myself included. In most games, including gw1, it was complicated to start your own guild and that made people think about it before going for it. In gw2 they have made it very simple and easy so lot of novices decided to try it. Perhaps a person with prior experience in leading a guild may not have made the same error?
But imo, if you create a system that so readily lets u change names/titles/edit ranks or whatever, then a preventative system should also be in place to help people avoid making such silly errors that have extremely dire consequences. We’re all humans and even devs make mistakes sometimes. To expect an average person to never do so is unreasonable. It’s so easy to push a wrong button when you’re being distracted or whatever and the system as it stands is terribly unforgiving and intolerant of any errors.
So it’s good to know that there is a system in place. However a couple of questions remain.
Where does it show the last login?
Why was an inactive member promoted in the first place? (might be a different system or the member indeed logged in at some point when no one else was on or no one saw him?)
When does the counter start when an automatic promotion takes place?Perhaps they did double check it and perhaps this officer indeed logged in in the past 60 days.
Suggestion – have the system allow the leader to name a successor manually.
Hey Rouven, thanks for your input. I’ve been told that since there’s an ‘issue’ with “last login” in the guild window, the 60-day counter would start when I first lodged my support ticket. As far I know, there’s been no checking of when the members logged in last.
I think. they not only need to add " last login" information, but also make sure that the information doesn’t get reset every time the game is patched/updated, as it does currently and where it then shows any members not logged in since the patch/update as “unknown”.
If you decide to start a new guild let us know, I’d be willing to rep your guild for a couple days to help you get your influence back. I’m sure others would too.
Thank you, but unless you are guild leader you wouldn’t realise just how much work is required to upgrade your guild, especially a small one, to any reasonable level. I really appreciate your offer, but I will not be starting a new guild. If this doesn’t work out, I’ll be staying guild-less for ever more. I’ve lost my faith in the system and the support I’ve been offered.
The latest update from support suggests this may well never be resolved. It’s a ridiculous set up which I’m being told is the only option available to me now. I don’t think I’m breaking any rules by quoting what support told me here since it’s only quoting the ‘official’ system that’s in place for this kind of situation and I think it may be worthwhile information for people to be aware of it.
How many people would actually know this is how it works? I didn’t. Well we don’t have last log in information anyway, so I’m not sure how this will work. In my view, this system is all very well if a leader has left the guild, or has gone inactive, but I’m still here, asking to have my guild back and I think there should be something in place to facilitate my situation. It seems unreasonable that I have to wait 60 days and what happens if the next senior officer logs in just for one day during the next phase, the 60 day counter would restart yet again and this could just keep defaulting perpetually?
In any case, even if this defaults to an active officer, no rights have been give to them to change the leadership for obvious reasons so the whole point is moot. I guess I really have lost my guild and unless Anet decided to do the right thing I fear I will never get it back.
I would also like to thank you all for your input and support, I really appreciate it and there are some very good suggestions in this post, please keep them coming. I have given the link of this post to support and I can only hope they and the devs can use some of the feedback here to improve their services and the game in general.
Edit: I just realised i said something wrong there, if the system defaults to an active officer, then that officer would become a leader and would be able to restore my leadership, if they’re willing of course.
(edited by Tiger Ashante.1792)
WoW thats a long post Tiger. My sincere condolences and I really hope Support can/will help you.
SHORT VERSION
I’m the player that requested my guild leader to make some new ranks, so I feel really bad about this. The Idea was to theme the ranks, new member (Mortal), Standard Member (Ascended), Officers (themed ranks) and Leader (godess)WHAT HAPPEND
Tiger Ashante.1792 the Guild founder/leader of Guardians Of Divinity [GOD] created a new rank and placed herself into the new rank without realising she had to add all permissions. By default a guild member, DancinWookie.5246, whome has not played for months is the new leader and can’t be contacted to re-enstate Tiger Ashante.1792 role as guild leader. Basically making the guild HEADLESS and if it can’t be rectified will render the guild permanently disfunctional.FIX Request to ANET support
1. Ingame GM tool (if such a tool exists) re-enstate the guild leader; or
2. Email DancinWookie.5246 on our behalf and ask him to log in if at all possible; or
3. Request a DEV to look into fixing the issue. ( change a value in the file data base for the Guild : Guardians Of Divinity giving Tiger Anshante.1792 All Permissions.Patch Request for Guilds UI
1. Guild Founder can-not be Kicked or Demoted by other guild leaders
2. Guild Founder/leader can not be Demote them self without Warning: “Are you sure” cheak box.
3. Default Leadership goes to Most active/Highest ranked Member
4. In game members roster “last active timer” so you can see how long ago some one in the guild last logged in.
Hey Harro thanks for your input. Great post! Yeah sorry about my long post, I’m not good at summarizing things, but lets hope the devs take note before it happens to someone else.
The funny thing is, had I discovered this flaw during beta, I would have been praised for reveling such a fundamental flaw in the guild design, instead, I feel like I’m being penalized for it.
Sad news indeed.
As a programmer myself I find it insanely unbelievable that Anet do not have the Dev Tools / functions / code in place to arbitrarily change your status flags within your guild.
I hope they change their mind and decide to help you rectify your error.
Thanks for your understanding and yes, I believe same as you. Although support initially told me they have no ‘external tools’ to amend ranks once someone has been made a guild leader, i believe they do have ‘internal tools’ to make the changes. After all, it’s their game, they designed it and they have access to everything, but ofc that requires the will for them to do it.
