A thought . . . we had the revelation some time back that ANet wasn’t able to rollback characters. Maybe the responses are because they actually can’t fix it?
I submitted a support ticket within half an hour of this happening and roll back was the first thing I requested/suggested. They said that a roll back would not fix this issue and reinstate my rank therefore they won’t be doing that. /sad face.
Thanks guys, I’ll keep trying with the support.
I’ve also sent a forum message to the member in question in hope he had email notification enabled for when he gets a message but since I haven’t received any rely from him I guess he hasn’t enabled that option. I also left him an in-game mail in case he comes when i’m not there, but I don’t think he’s been on since Xmas and I have no idea when and if he’ll come on.
I would actually like to know how long he can remain a leader if he’s inactive? It simply don’t make sense the leadership was given to an inactive member as opposed to an active one or even an officer. It all seems wrong somehow.
Guild titles and privileges are not something to play with without thinking, as they include guild leadership privileges too.
Leadership hasn’t been “taken away” from you, you removed it yourself because you did a mistake when changing privileges.
I realize you are upset but you need to file a ticket to ANet and see if they can reverse your mistake.
Thread will prolly be locked soon, there was no reason to make it as it is your mistake not a problem of the game to it must be solved through support tickets.
Yea i guess my post is too long and u probably didn’t read it fully but i have submitted support ticket, why else would i say support refused to help? And when people say its my fault, I think anet has to take at least partial responsibility for not putting some safety net in here before making such a dramatic changes. Nothing told me this change of title would alter my guild leader status.
(continued)
Why this upsets me even more, is that I’ve been a loyal fan of Anet and its games for many years now. I’ve even convinced several friends who had no interest in gw2, to buy the game and join me. Now, like me, they’re upset with what has happened and being left without a leader and since no one else has high enough permissions, the guild has come to a stand still. This couldn’t have come at the worst time with Guild Missions being released and we can’t do anything as a guild until this is fixed. When and if that will happen, is anyone’s guess.
Anet support refuses to (I say refuses because I believe they can but won’t) help me resolve this matter. All I’ve got is polite, negative responses to all my pleas. It’s very disheartening. I’ve been with them from the start and have put up with many things that bug me in the game, but always tried to be positive and give them benefit of the doubt they will make things right. After this and the lack of support I’ve recieved in this matter, I’m not so sure anymore. I have no means of contacting this new guild leader myself, yet they won’t contact him on my behalf, while saying at the same time, he is the only one that can help me now! If this isn’t a catch 22, I don’t know what is. Let me ask this, who made him the guild leader? Not me! The system appointed him, so please fix it and give me my guild back I worked so hard to build over the past 6 months! If you can remove my leadership from my own guild without warning me, you can also give it back! I even send a PM to a dev and so far no response. I’m losing paitence and have decided to post this come what may.
One could argue what happened is my own fault and sure I’ll take that flak, but the punishment does not fit the crime here and something like this should have never been possible to occur in the first place. The Leader of a guild (especially the founding leader) should never, ever be removed by anything or anyone without a safety net and stern warning! Had I been aware of the danger, I wouldn’t be stuck now with a leaderless guild and be forced to wait and watch it fall apart with my hands tied, in hope this person comes back and restores my guild back to me! And what if he never comes back? How long am I supposed to wait? And what if he comes back and doesn’t want to give it back? This really is a joke, but there’s nothing funny about it.
The moral of this story is, learn from my mistake and don’t fiddle with any buttons in this game as they’re totally unforgiving. Consider carefully if it’s worth your time building a Guild in this game, when it can be so easily taken away form you! I suspect this thread will probably be locked, deleted, or go unnoticed. I hope not, I don’t know where else to turn to and I’m only expressing what happened and to warn others. I only wish I had such a warning before this happened to me. Most of all, I hope someone in the company has a change of heart and decides to address and resolve this issue before my guild dies completely and they forever lose me as a fan.
Thanks for reading this far and please, feel free to discuss. Just take it easy on me, I’m feeling distressed enough as it is.
TL;DR I was guild leader of my own guild and on suggestion by one of my officers, I went to create some fun titles for our members. I wasn’t aware doing this would remove me as the guild leader and demote me to the lowest member in my guild. There was no warning of any kind that this wold happen and my guild is now leaderless. The system defaulted leadership to an inactive member, who hasn’t logged in for at least 2 months and I have no means of contacting him.
Support can’t/won’t help me resolve this matter.
(edited by Tiger Ashante.1792)
This is a sad and serious matter, at least for me and all should have a read. It’s a bit long but it’ll only take a few minutes of your time and you may find the information of some value.
Unintentional error has caused me immeasurable upset and I’m having a hard time dealing with it. About a week ago, I was having a bad day, game crash after crash and in between, people sending me messages, keeping me distracted. Amid all of this, an officer in my guild, of which I am the founding leader, suggested I create some fun titles for the members. I’ve never tried this before, but thought why not and decided to give it a try.
Before I go on, I think I need to give you some background here so you understand what this means to me and why it has affected me so. I’ve played gw1 for number of years and eagerly awaited gw2 release. The moment it was available, I pre-purchased it and began playing on BWE1 and then the 3-day head start. I had all the char and guild names planned out and could hardly wait for it to go live. Due to my time zone, I had to stay up all night to be one of the first to log on and reserve the names I wanted. I was so excited when I finally registered my guild and it was accepted.
My original thought was to create a small guild for myself and a few friends, a place we could call home, but when the game went live, there were so many people I decided to invite a few. Before I knew it, I had 40+ members. Soon though, they began to drop off, or log in occasionally. Up to now, I have kept the numbers roughly the same, but some haven’t logged on for a long time. It’s hard to tell, since we don’t have the “last logged” information available. In the end, it’s been mostly me and my 8 alts that have earned the influence for the guild and through sheer hard work I’ve managed to get many upgrades for my small guild.
Now back to the topic. Considering the acronym of my guild is (GOD), the officer in question suggested I give myself a new title Godess and for him, a War Marshall. We’ve been playing WvW lately so it made sense he wanted that title. I laughed and said ok, sure why not, thinking we would all get a nice nickname added to our names. The moment I took on that Godess title, was the moment everything fell apart. Suddenly, all permissions in the guild went grey and I realized, I had lost access to my guild. My first thought was, with all the crashes I’ve been having, it must be a glitch. To add to my woes, the game crashes again just then and I’m like freaking out, as I still hadn’t figured out what went wrong.
When I logged back in, my worst fears were realized. It wasn’t a glitch at all. In fact, I was the lowest member in my guild! So in a matter of seconds, I went from being the Guild Leader, to the lowest ranking member! Now there’s a cruel joke for you if you ever heard one, right? So I’m staring at this guild panel, feeling kind of giddy, when my eye catches a glimpse of the Leader tag about half way down the list of members. Until I saw that, it still hadn’t sunk in I wasn’t the Leader any more. A member that has been inactive for a long time, now has the Guild Leader tag! Is this really possible? How did this happen? Why is he the leader? Who made him the leader? I had so many questions and no answers.
I was so confused and distressed by all this and still am. I didn’t know what to do and still don’t, but after discussing it with the officer who suggested this in the first place, I finally figured out what had happened. I created this title but didn’t give it any permission before accepting it. When I took on the title, it replaced my Guild Leader rank with it and removed me as the guild leader. It sounds dumb when I think back on it now, but I had no idea this thing would actually change my rank! I thought it would simply be an addition to it not a replacement and didn’t realize I had to give it permissions as well. I always believed if I ever did anything to affect such a serious change, it would come with a strong warning, but I was wrong. In a blink of an eye, I was stripped of my leadership and the system indiscriminately picked some random member (perhaps the oldest on the list) and appointed him the Guild Leader!
Why wasn’t there any warning? Like; are you SURE you want to do this? This title has no permissions and if you proceed, it will remove you as the Guild Leader! Is that too much to ask? Instead, no warning at all and the whole thing was executed by pushing 1 button! I mean, they can put a pop up window asking you to confirm some purchase from a vendor, but not for something as important as this? Surely this is a fundamental omission that should have been in the original guilds design? Or at least, taken seriously and fixed now that it has been brought to their attention.
(to be continued)
You obviously aren’t observant enough or don’t stop long enough to study the enemy. I have, a habit from gw1 I guess. You had to, at least in hard mode, or you died when patrols crossed paths and mobbed you.
Sure, in gw2, they’re not all patrolling but I’ve completed every map 8 times and I’ve seen every type of enemy have some patrols here and there. I’ve noticed small groups in Orr too since the last update that are now patrolling short distances. Centaurs always did where ever they appear, so do many others, but you also got to realise some are simply guarding things and don’t move.
I started having sudden game crashes today, where its an instant crash to desktop, but on one occasion at least it crashes me to the character select screen. I’ve sent reports in for the desktop crashes so hopefully that will help.
Thanks guys for all your comments, but I must admit, I’m surprised how some people love one particular story part, while others hate that very same part. In particular The Battle for Claw Island. I know this is a small sample but it shows clearly how difficult it would be for any devs to please all their players.
The other thing that amazes me is how many people hate Traehearne. I’ve seen other threads dedicated to ‘Traehearne hate’ but personally, I don’t actually mind him at all. I’ve done all the stories with 8 characters and I think I’ve probably covered every path at least those of the later lvls. Seriously, though parts of his role could have been executed better, I don’t see why people hate him so. After all, he’s just an NPC, featured in the story line, but nvm, I don’t want this thread to become about him. There are others out there about this issue as mentioned above, so lets try to keep this one to the point and constructive please.
Cheers!
I went to do AC story on one of my alts, after not doing it for a long time. The “leader” if you can call him that, left right after getting final chest. I missed a poi nearby and was almost on it when I got kicked out coz he left.
The other thing that happens in dungeons, if that same person (ie: so called leader) leaves the party, u get kicked out. This sort of thing never happened in gw1 and it should NEVER happen in gw2 either! I would really like to see this fixed. It’s yet another reason that puts me off doing dungeons.
@SneakyErwin, “Other than that I really enjoyed the part where you pilot the Golem suit and deathray risen to death.”
Haha yea that’s the one I’m referring to “Air Drop”. I just wish that my Asura Engi had that suit as his Elite skill lol.
OMG! Sorry Anet for blaming you for my troubles. It was my 8800GT card that was letting me down. I’ve been considering a new card for almost a year now but the above one was serving ok i thought. So I finally decided to upgrade to GTX680 and man! I’m seeing gw2 in all its glory for the first time. I’m running everything on max and its solved all my problems of low fps, lags, even broken sounds. I’m sooooo happy! I just thought i’d post that here to let you know and I’ve changed the title to reflect my new feeling.
Cheers!
It would be good if people listed their favourite story parts to give devs some idea of what we like. It may improve story telling in the future.
Mine is the second part of Claw Island mission. I like the whole story of Claw Island, but I don’t like doing the first part, its messy and too many Risen. But 2nd part is awesome! I’ve enjoyed it immensely every time I’ve done it. There are still lot of Risen but at least you got an awesome group of NPC’s fighting by your side.
I also love Air Drop. Really well done and lots of fun. I hope they make more these type of stories in the future. Of course, there are many others but those 2 stand out for me.
Personally I think Stroytelling in gw1 was awesome. In gw2 there are glimpses of it and some segments are brilliant and others not so much, I’m hoping they will improve in this regard.
OP, The most I felt like a hero was when walking into a camp or a village under attack and single-handedly saving the place. But yea not really often in the game do you feel like you’re the hero, but then again I’ve never felt that much of a hero in any MMO.
I guess, unlike in a single player RPG where just 1 player is the focus of the entire game and the story line, it’s a bit hard to do that in an MMO where you have 1000’s of players. Things have to be standardised to a point, so other players get to enjoy the same or similar experience.
I would like them to introduce Mercenary Heroes like in gw1, where you can use your alts as your party members. Just like in gw1, you can dress them up in the best attire at your disposal, equip their weapon/skill set, visit an NPC and he takes a copy of your alt all geared up. Then you can use them in your party. To me that was the best addition to gw1 and I had most fun in the game after that, although it took some doing to set up 8 alts just the way I wanted.
I just feel sorry they introduced it so late in the game, so I only got to enjoy my alts for a few months before i stopped playing, coz well, I had achieved everything i wanted to in the game. So yea I would really love to see this back, even if it was only available for the dungeons.
Well I had hoped this issue would have been fixed during maintenance downtime but it hasn’t in fact it seems worse than before. /sad face
Ok, today I’m still having the same lag problems. Black Citadel is one of the worst it gives me 2fp in some spots. Inside the bank, if i face the banker i get 25fps, if i turn to face the exit, i get 6fps. When i arrive there from LA via pink portal i get 2fps. I’m pinned to the ground and all i can do is port out of there. btw, i turned my setting to ‘best performance’ after i started having these problems yesterday, but it made no difference.
When I arrive in Frostgorge to do my daily, i get around 25fps as soon as i come anywhere near where Jormag event happens my fps drops to below 10 my chars go slow mo on and off and the game sound becomes distorted (this is during the time when the even isn’t even on). I’ve had lags here and there in the past, but nothing like this and they seem to be wide spread as I’ve visited various areas with similar results, cities being probably the worst.
Considering i used to get between 35fps-60+fps in most areas with some setting turned to ultra such as LOD and a few others, this is a big change and its basically making my game almost unplayable, so please fix this asap.
Yes I’ve been suffering horrendous lag all day, not only that but my characters move in slow mo for little while then normally then slow mo again. It’s been an awful day totally ruined my gameplay and I can only hope tomorrow is a better day. My server is Jade Quarry btw so obviously its not just your server.
I actually made a post about this myself and some 1 suggested that it may be related to your location in RL. Apparently they’ve in a group and some of them lived in different parts of US and some had problems with lag and having game crashes while others didn’t.
Hi since the last patch Tequatl and to a lesser extent claw of Jormag sometimes do not leave a chest. This has happened to me and several have said the same thing in chat. This started with the last update in January and I have sent in bug reports each time. I have never gotten an answer so I am curious if this is a concern to the company.
Anyone else running into this?
Yep, it happened to me today with Jormag but I’ve had it happen a few times even b4 the patch with Jormag and Shatterer. It’s extremely annoying when you’re trying to complete daily, coz not only do i not get the chest but no credit for the event either.
P.S. I don’t run dragon events, I do my dailies in Frostgorge Sound generally and if the dragon happens while I’m there I’ll join in if not, I don’t hang around for it or follow the timers et. So really I don’t see why I should be affected by any DR (as Smoeki seems to imply) since I don’t do it regularly.
(edited by Tiger Ashante.1792)
Hmm that’s weird I’ve now tested this extensively on various toons and wherever i go i get the same lag but only in Frostgorge I get this slow mo effect on my chars.
I’m just wondering if there’s any tweaking going on by the devs? If anyone could respond please it would help me a lot knowing that, so I could at least determine it’s something on my end. But as it stands now, the game is basically unplayable for me.
Logging in today I found my characters were moving in slow mo, my fps has dropped dramatically and its also affecting my sound, which comes across crackly. I was in Frostgorge Sound at the time trying to do my daily.
The dragon event was on so i thought it was due to that (and btw despite this issue i participated in killing him but didn’t get the chest) It was strange seeing everyone gathered where the chest appears but i could not see it, not the first time it happened either.
Anyway trying to do Quaggan Village event and Castaway was a nightmare, but especially the Quaggan village due to a massive amount of spears floating in the water. This has been going on for some time now and I have submitted a bug report for it but there’s more spears there than ever. My fps dropped to 5 in that area where I basically could not move. Despite this I managed to complete my daily, don’t ask me how, so i went to Black Citadel and the fps rate there was just as bad.
Thinking I had a bad connection, I rebooted my internet and my game then went to Lost shores, same result, LA, same, back to Black Citadel down to 4fps. Simply horrendous.
Is anyone else having these problem?
What makes gw2 best MMO by far for me atm is it’s mobility in combat. I too tried some of the other MMOs to have a break from gw2 and having to stand there and just take the hits was depressing. “You can’t do that while moving” or “you can’t shoot that arrow, the target is too close” message across my screen drove me crazy and made me log out quick smart.
I have noticed though that some MMO’s are already doing copy cat of gw2’s various systems such as finding quests while in the world, more dynamic combats, sharing loot etc. One example comes to mind: Elder Scrolls Online. Reviewing some of their features to be in the game seem very reminiscent of gw2.
Yes definitely skill capping too. I remember going for Legendary Skill Hunter title and it took ages. Just Nightfall had like 130+ elite skills. I did find Prophecies frustrating for skill capping tho, as it has a unique set up there, where several bosses may share the same spawn areas so there was no guarantee one you wanted would spawn. I’ll never forget capping skills in Snake Dance lol (Snake Dance is basically Lonar Pass in gw2 except there wasn’t a single outpost in the entire map and ofc it looks different now).
So you can imagine if you got to middle of Snake Dance and the boss there isn’t the one you want aagggrrrr lol.
For those that may be interested in the process and are unfamiliar with gw1 and skill capping, it was an intriguing process where you hunted bosses across all gw1 expacs to cap their skills. You acquired a signet of capture form a skill merchant and you had to replace a skills on the bar with it (you could equip 2 max at any given outing). The fun part being, if you cap 2 Elite skills and since you already have 1 equipped you could have 3 elite skills on your bar as long as you stayed in the map. It was a great way to vanquish a map too.
Anyway, when you found the boss you okittenill him and then cast the signet of capture on his body. This would open up his skill bar and give you a choice of his skills. Simply click on the one you want and voila! You got a new Elite skill. Of course everyone wanted the Elite lol. This was an awesome setup really, for it showed you exactly what skills each boss used.
What I also miss is the distinguishing glow each boss had. For eg: A necro boss had a green glow while a monk boss had blue and a Mesmer had purple etc. It made them stand out and you had no qualms knowing this guy is something special…he’s a boss!
Oh yea the other thing I really, really miss, is the gw1 emotes and dances and how each class had its own dance that distinguished them form the others, rather than racially based ones in gw2.
The one that made me crack up every time, especially when i saw a synched dance by a few, was the male Necro dance. I could stand there and watch them for ages and just laugh my head off. It was so well done. Oh and the Ritualist male dance was oh sooooo sexy I couldn’t get enough of it lol.
I miss my girls from gw1…all of them. I wish i could have had them imported into this game….skills and armor included! That’s not all of them, I had 12 in gw1 lol.
I miss my Mesmer’s Obsidian Armor although in the image here I got her wearing a skirt from a different Elite set, as I had multiple Elite sets for all the girls and like to mix and match them. All the Armor sets were so well designed with very few to no clippings and you could perfectly mix and match them.
I love the Paragon Oby Armor too. I had enough to get most of the girls Oby Armor but didn’t really like much the other sets. The Mesmer and Paragon being my 2 favorites and so that’s what I got. And my Assassin was oh so cool with her Chaos Gloves!
I don’t know maybe I will get to love my girls in gw2 as well…eventually but at this stage I just don’t feel the same attachment to them as I did to these from gw1.
1) Elementalist
2)Ranger
3)Assassin
4)Mesmer
5)Necromancer
6)Dervish
7)Ritualist
8)Paragon
9)Warrior
Edit: just had to add my warrior lol.

I know there’s been tons of suggestions regarding this topic, which is a good indication to Anet that it’s not working very well and having minis has become more of a nuisance than pleasure as it stands now and something needs to be done about it. Minis played a huge role in gw1 and can in gw2 as well if using them becomes more convenient and less hustle to players. I think this would not only benefit players but Anet as well, since they actually sell minis in the cash shop.
The majority of ideas I’ve seen regarding this issue, seem to suggest storing/equipping minis somewhere in the Hero panel. I would prefer another location, as I think Hero panel should be reserved…well for the Hero to equip armor/weapons/cosmetic items.
My idea is that new slots be opened up under the bag slots column in the inventory to accommodate the minis, which can be placed there permanently. I think 5 slots would be a good number, but I’d be happy with however many Anet thinks is appropriate, bearing in mind the more slots you provide the more likely players will buy more minis from you.
Perhaps even if Anet provided a couple free slots but the rest are locked and have to be unlocked with gems like the 5th bag? Either way, I’d be happy to pay for a feature like this, as it would mean one can carry a few different minis and simply by double clicking them they become activated as they are now. This way, they’re handy in your inventory and not affected by “deposit collectables” issue. There’s a lot of empty wasted space in that side column under the bag slots that could be utilized and perhaps not just for minis but even some costume items such as riding broom perhaps?
Thanks, thoughts?
Edit: amended the title
(edited by Tiger Ashante.1792)
Why are we not allow to do this?
Even though the bank is shared between all of our alts. I would still want the ability to send alts items and money through the mail. It saves time and bank space when I’m out in the game world.
This feature is in other MMO’s and creates no problems.
+1 Definitely should be a feature in this game. Every game i’ve played had this so it don’t make sense why a modern MMO like gw2 don’t have it. Anyone arguing it’s to do with cash shop, storage purchasing etc. is a lame excuse. Are we to be denied every little quality of life because of these things? Even free to play games have these features (for free too) so I expect more from gw2 not only because it’s not a free game to begin with but because I hold it to much higher standards.
Yea i had that problem with the chopper (as stated above) after having successfully completed it just the day b4 and we ended up abandoning the mission but the next day i tried it again and done it 3 times since then, no problem. I wonder if its got something to do with the way it loads certain parts like cinematics or a particular segment of the story?
Happy to report done the mission 3 times since the above incident all went well. Just 1 more character needs it, yay!
Doomguard.5094: “It’s your characters popularity toward NPCs in the game, they have heard stories about you being brave and so they offer you rewards, that’s why Karma is character bound not account bound. I’m completely against turning karma account wide as that completely destroys the whole point and concept behind it and just provides us with a secondary gold-esque currency. Karma is here so you can feel closer with tyria and have some sort of a connection with it and its people, if you can’t realize that then you never look for beauty in anything. But you obviously don’t care about roleplay or immersing yourself in the world, having fun with it, with people like you effectiveness is always the only priority you acknowledge, min-maxing each second of your time spend in the game just for the sake of being “leet”, the strongest and the fastest or whatever.”
Haha, it’s nice that you’re so passionate about something like a digital currency in a game and want to attribute it a deeper meaning. I do understand what you’re trying to say, but I was merely pointing out that karma is really not that different to any other currency regardless of why it’s given.
If some change actually occurred in the game that made you feel that difference, such as say NPC’s dialogue changed toward you once you achieved certain things where for eg: when you passed by they loudly greeted you and acknowledged at least your grandest of feats, such as,
“Oh look everybody, there goes the Champion of Orr!” once you completed the story.
Or,
“Oh look everybody, there goes the Hero who slew the mighty Zaithan himself, please give him/her a mighty cheer!” once you killed him, then yes, I could agree with you that karma had a more special/personal meaning. But until then, it’s just another reward like gold you get for completing the very same tasks that give karma.
I mean whats so special about farming some event over and over and getting karma rewards for it? Yet you do your story, destroy great evil that plagues the world and you get no karma?
The whole point of karma is that unlike gold it is not trade-able. It’s not something that you own per se, it’s your own personal renown that you gain by completing events. Basically, the more you interact with the world, help npcs and such, you become more popular, hence why they offer you rewards in return. Trading popularity across characters doesn’t seem logical at all. Also, it is easy to transfer huge amounts of karma as it is, I’m almost always only playing my warrior, and I stash every karma jug and drop I get from both dungeons and dailies so that when I get to play my elementalist he can get a nice little boost.
I agree that your idea won’t really hurt anything in the game, especially not economy, but it’s not really about that, it’s basically just about principle, about roleplaying your character, as you play them they become heroes and more popular, that’s the purpose of karma, about making them more special and unique because they went out there, traveled the world, helped people all across the land, and in turn got something in return, popularity.
I do agree that over time it just boiled down to inconvenient currency, but we just have to accept it as a uniquely designed currency.
Popularity? Where? Karma does not translate into anything like that. Show me an example where you felt more popular because of the amount of Karma you earned.
It don’t make sense karma isn’t account bound like all other in game currencies, I can understand the idea behind what you’re saying but in practice, it’s meaningless.
OP, if you plan on getting Legendary Weapon, you can swap karma for Obsidian shards at the Temple of Balthazar karma trader and the Obi shards are account bound so any alt can do that to use up their karma, that’s what i did anyway. However if you don’t intend to go for leg. weap. then yea something what you’re suggesting could be useful, but frankly it would be much simpler if they just made it account wide. I mean when it comes to your account, who cares which alt has earned what? They’re all your alts and are all working for one account.
You can dismiss it by switching spell.
Yea i know, but i want an ability to dismiss my minions when i need to not having to switch out most of my skills on the right side of bar!
Thanks. Why does it bother you so much to switch out your skills that you don’t even need?
There are many scenarios and examples I could give where this feature would be useful, but Kyllaa above explained it very nicely.
However, I will add my 2 cents. Swapping your skills just to get rid of your minions while say on a jumping puzzle or any situation where you would prefer to get rid of your minions, but for this scenario lets use a jumping puzzle as an example. You fall down, but don’t die and there’s a monster or 2 below that greets you. You are now locked in combat and cannot swap back to your skills that you are traited for IE: Minion Master., you cannot wp due to being locked in combat. What happens then?
If on the other hand you had a skill, say similar to ranger skill “hide pet” although that has its own annoyances where the pet re-appears as soon as you take any fall damage, you could simply use it to dismiss your minions. If then the above scenario occurs, you simply resummon your minions for the combat. Problem solved. Simple!
You can dismiss it by switching spell.
Yea i know, but i want an ability to dismiss my minions when i need to not having to switch out most of my skills on the right side of bar!
Thanks.
I’m rather tired of having to suicide in order to get rid of my minions while doing difficult vistas or jumping puzzles. The minions get in your way and constantly jump in front of you as you try to make difficult jumps. It really is very annoying and I don’t see why we shouldn’t be able to dismiss them for when we don’t need them. Please add this feature asap!
Well oddly enough, I went to do the Arah story today on a different character, got to the part where you supposed to board the chopper to clear the landing, but we couldn’t. The chopper seemed stuck some distance away from the ship and we had to abandon the mission. Will try again tomorrow, hopefully it was a temporary glitch or something.
Okay…so let’s say that a cartographer’s tonic made the user a fourth team, say white flag team. The tonic user being a white flag team member would not be able to read red, blue, or green team chats. No intel is given away.
You don’t get intel from reading chats, you get intel from looking with your own eyes and reporting what you see to your guild/voice chat of choice.
example: I drink a tonic, become white, and shadow the movements of the enemy and report back to my guild/server alliance exactly where they are going and what they are doing. They can’t stop me, I am flagged unkillable, I laugh as they try.
Someone said make it so while tagged you can’t go within certain radius of fortifications. Thats not a solution either, lots of area can be sat upon to watch troop movements without getting near fortifications. I don’t need to stand at a gate to see people come out it and head a certain direction.
Well whats to stop you doing that right now? I see in chat while in WvW people reporting enemy movements all the time. I don’t see ur point and frankly you’re making too much of it imo. People who want to explore the map aren’t interested in spying on anyone, they just want the job done.
Perhaps there’s a record of people playing regular WvW and perhaps they cannot use the features give to explorers? I don’t know, there’s a lot of interesting suggestions here, but imo having the flagging system and keeping ppl away form enemy forts while flag is on, makes most sense to me and it’s a least complicated suggestion.
I’m pretty sure you can, but maybe one of the staff ought to confirm this for you.
I had done Arah story mission 3 times prior to yesterday and that was several months ago. Each time I previously done it, I swore never to do it again. It was messy, chaotic and extremely difficult, especially at the end where you have to make your final stand on the ship.
After reading the patch notes following the last update in January, I decided to give it another go and see what it was like. There were still difficult bits mainly the segment where you have to clear the landing and fight the Mouth of Zaithan. The difficulty was made worse by the fact you could not wp if any of your party members were still alive. We got the Mouth to 1/3 of its health but with 3/5 party members down, we had to wipe and when we got back, the Mouth was fully healed. That was a bit annoying having to start from scratch as it takes a while to dispose of him.
But my main concern being how the next part would play out, I was pleasantly surprised how well balanced the battle on the ship is now. No more endless huge mobs that constantly CC’d you and tossed you about the ship’s deck like a football. There were even gaps between waves of mobs and it actually allowed me for the first time to appreciate just how epic the Arah story really is. This epic feeling continued at the Fort Trinity conclusion and I just want to thank you Anet for changing my mind and now wanting to complete this story on all my characters.
Cheers
and keep up the good work.
I’ve don’t usually farm, but I’ve been seriously thinking about working on Leg Weap since I’ve basically done everything else.
For the past 6 weeks + I’ve been regularly doing my dailies in Frostgorge Sound as it’s one of my favourite maps.
While waiting for events or Jormag to spawn, I’ve spent anywhere between 15 to 45 minutes farming the Ice Flow every day. Some time I had no MF, but last week or so I’ve used 10% guild banner. In all that time I had 1 Corrupted Loadstone, no rares just mostly junk and some claws. I got my Loadstone a few weeks back and I had no MF on at all when I got it.
I have lost count how many times I’ve defeated Jormag and other dragons, not 1 rare, just blue/green stuff every time. So yea its mind numbing process and considering how expensive loadstones are, I’m not holding my breath for my legendary weapon.
I can understand that legendary weapon components should be rare drops, but omg, not this rare! It’s absolutely ridiculous.
Absolutely support this +1
Flag off = no one can attack you, nor can you attack other players or their defenses.
Flag on = you’re fair game for everyone.Way too easy to be abused. Flag off = scout you can’t kill, they’ll just follow the enemy around and report all movements and there would be nothing you could do to stop it.
You obviously haven’t read all of my posts above, here is an excerpt and I think that would eliminate the spying business.
“Perhaps they could build in a warning that if you get close to a place held by the enemy your flag will be turned on automatically and you won’t be able to disable it until you leave the vicinity of the said place? Say if a fort or whatever held by the enemy appears on your mini map, the warning kicks in and stays until you leave that area and can no longer see it on your mini map. Actually could solve the problem how you explore EB as well.”
I disagree and think it should remain the way it is. The only reason to complete the world map 100% is to gain a component required for legendary weapons. These weapons are highly sought after, and obtainging them tells other players you have completly mastered all aspects of the game.
I will say it is impossible to access certain WvW areas from only ONE server. However, if you are able to earn enough gold to purchase the gems required to transfer servers than it is possible to explore all 3 zones safetly. It is concerning that the cost is high, but this is the essence of the reward.
Completionists also want to get 100% zone coverage. Not to mention there’s a little reward thingy on the character selection screen. There’s also a nifty little achievement that you get for getting 100% on one character.
I wouldn’t mind the following:
Once every WvW period, you may toggle yourself as unattackable by all players and NPC’s for a decent chunk of time (2-3 hours). You can’t turn it off until the timer runs down. You also cannot attack players. Once the time is up you are presented with a dialog screen of which you can’t move when it comes up saying: Your period of free exploration is up. Do you want to remain in WvW or leave?
This gives those wanting to explore WvW for map completion can do so safely if they really do not like PvP type play. And keeps the time long enough to discourage enemy players from using it to grief.
@Seera Isn’t that more or less what I was suggesting?
@Regenc Yes you need it for Leg Weap, we all know that by now. But in my case, if you read my posts, you would realise I already have 2 gifts of the traveler and I doubt very much I’ll get to craft 2 leg weaps. In fact I’d be lucky to get one, so no, my reasons for doing 100% on all my chars is purely for completion purposes. In fact, when I originally went for 100% on my main soon after the game was launched, I knew very little about Leg Weaps, or that what I was doing was a requirement to make one.
Anyway, like I’ve stated above, I stand by my suggestion. If Anet wants to keep WvW as part of the 100% then that’s the only sensible option in my opinion.
Flag off = no one can attack you, nor can you attack other players or their defenses.
Flag on = you’re fair game for everyone.
Can you say HI mesmer, standing at the back not participating in the actual zerg and as soon as door or wall is down strolls inside staying in enemy keep with no way ti kill him untill the whole zerg is ready for a portal
I’ve heard they can do that already lol.
I stand by my idea of having a flag on/off option, but as to what the rules/conditions for using it are, I leave that for devs to decide.
Perhaps they could build in a warning that if you get close to a place held by the enemy your flag will be turned on automatically and you won’t be able to disable it until you leave the vicinity of the said place? Say if a fort or whatever held by the enemy appears on your mini map, the warning kicks in and stays until you leave that area and can no longer see it on your mini map. Actually could solve the problem how you explore EB as well.
My resentment with the way things are atm is, even if you go to explore the map belonging to your home server, you often get ambushed by enemy just trying to explore the place, things like skill points, vistas etc. or even forts that belong to your server. For eg the other day, i was on my home server, we owned the fort i was trying to get a vista in, as i was climbing up to it and was nearly on it, I was somehow pulled down by enemy players to the outside of the fort and killed. I was really annoyed because it was the last vista i needed and now I had to wp miles away and run back to the place long distance again, constantly dreading yet another ambush popping in front of me. Worst part about it, when I was killed on some occasions and was long way away from wp, friendly players just passed me by without bothering to rez me. .
All my 8 characters have completed all the PVE maps exploration and all I got left now is the WvW maps. My main has already got 100% but I set myself a goal to get 100% done on all of them since I’m so close. But the way things are, I don’t think I’ll have the patience for it.
Edit: minor spelling errors.

O_O What. Let’s think about it logically; WvWvW is a war-zone. Do you think it would make any sense for an enemy player to come strolling in and be completely untouchable? Imagine if an entire zerg simply turned on their flag, then they could approach a keep and then turn off their flags so they can do maximum damage without worries of being attacked before reaching their target.
Perhaps i should have been more clear. You can only turn ON the flag, on YOUR HOME SERVER! If the flag is turned ON you cannot travel to enemy territory (not sure how this would work in EB though).
But as far as bypassing defenses etc, it could be made so that if the flag is turned on, you cannot attack enemy held structures of any kind and that would prevent breaking into forts etc. Anyway, I don’t have the knowledge of what’s at Anet’s disposal to create this kind of thing but I’m sure with their brilliant imagination, they could come up with something that would please the crowds on both end of the spectrum.
+1 yes definitely. most annoying when doing vistas or jumping puzzles. please fix it!
I made a suggestion for a solo/small group type dungeoneering which could be another option to accommodate more causal players.

But yea something must be done about because the way it is now, just isn’t good enough to suit all the player types.
While I would like an option to explore these maps without being forced into pvp by an enemy server’s mobs, I don’t think having a toggle on/off option is a fair one.
What’s to stop someone from toggling their flag off and going to snoop in enemy territory? Completely invulnerable to harm from enemy players, they’d be able to scout out areas unfairly. Or worse a group could turn their flag off, bypass defences, and then turn their flags on.
I think a simpler solution for everyone would be to make PvE-only instances of these maps. That way people who aren’t interested in WvW don’t have to struggle through it, and those who enjoy WvW can play with others who are there for the WvW.
Well in my view, there’s nothing “unfair” about it if both sides have the same options. In fact it may make it a bit more interesting, by adding some tactical gameplay to WvW instead a of a big zerg-fest that it is now.
If this happens, then say you flag off a zerg to a keep, then you can just take over the gate
Are you kidding? by myself? c’mon lol. those gates take half an hour to bring down with a big group, one person would take a half a day lol.
Edit: P.S Btw, they do have NPC’s guarding those gates anyway and they can always add a few more if that is a concern.

I know lot of people have asked for WvW to be excluded from 100% map completion (including myself) but it doesn’t have to be that way.
My gripe isn’t with difficulty getting the exploration done due to which server owns what, my main issue is constantly being zerg-mobbed by enemy players. They in fact prey on people trying to get exploration done.
Those people who say, I shouldn’t explore alone, well they have a point but most of the time that’s not possible for me due various reasons but mostly due to my time zone. Frankly, even if I had another person with me, I don’t think it would make that much of a difference, as each time I’ve been killed there were at least half a dozen + or a big zerg.
Lot of people have stated that WvW is considered by Anet as PVE area, which means it equates to WvW being an open world pvp. As such and as I have seen similar features in games that have open world pvp, I suggest the following options be made available to players who purely want to explore WvW, rather than participate in killing other players.
1) Create a toggle on Character’s portrait with an option to turn on/off a flag.
Flag off = you cannot attack other players and other players cannot attack you (however this rule does not apply to NPCs. you can still attack them and they can attack you)
Flag on = players can attack you and you can attack other players.
I think this is a simple enough proposition, it shouldn’t be too difficult to do and I would really appreciate Anet implementing this option. Otherwise, I think I will give up on my favorite part of the game…exploration.
It would be nice if people who like this idea indicate their support. The more support it gets, the more likely it will get noticed and hopefully be implemented.
Thanks in advance.

Indeed a story/quest to obtain your Legendary Weapon is something I would love to see. I’m still debating if I should try and get one, as I totally abhor farming, especially with the lack of drops as they are. I can stand it for maybe 10-15 minutes at most b4 i get bored out of my mind. And we certainly need more story-oriented quests in this game.
I have to agree with all those people that have said there’s nothing legendary about the legendary weapon the way it’s currently obtained.
The Precursor could be a cursed weapon that you have to do a chain quest to get it purified and to use to craft your Legendary Weapon. The quest could be same for all weapons (or be somewhat varied at some point) where at the end you get to choose the one you want.
It could even be class based quest and you only get to chose precursors relevant to your class.
