Let me tell you right now, right here how to make a good pvp map:
Team 1 spawn west side, team 2 spawn east side.
2 bridges meet a circle in the middle, 4 pillars for los, lava in bottom.
First team to earn 100 points wins, 5/playerkill.

You DONT need points, npcs, plenty of terrain without use, orbs, trebuches… The good stuff is already in the name itself, PLAYER vs PLAYER.
So all you need are 2 guys who can attack each other, that’s good pvp.

Can we have at least one ARENA in ARENA PVP again? I really don’t like playing dota meets wvw at all.

Just use the chat function in the mists, say something like “lfg 4 pvp” and watch as someone invites you in like a min or two.

A LOT of people do this, and if you don’t you will get rekt by those guys who do, it’s a team game so form a team or you will have a hard time.

You can also then ask the guys to vote for the same map, discuss tactics before the match and so on, why not do it, it’s a mmo not a singleplayer game after all

Tanked Mai 4 times today, had her glued to me in 3 of the encounters and 4th it kept going for a ranger.

Took some effort and model clipping to get her to follow me into the statics, then she broke off again and only stuck to the ranger and his pet, strange as we had a ranger with us during other runs as well.

Inversion Enzyme is a must if you play in groups imo, it’s one of the strongest traits in the whole game if you play a cleaner/healer, and I suggest taking it over BPR or SRD if you’re not a soloist.

may cause you to let allies get a bunch of condis till you start cleansing.. and causes you to laugh like a maniac in pvp really often

So, last night I was thinking about a pretty simple UI addition as I was looking for the right guys to heal in the middle of necro minions and a diarrhea storm of aoes.

Thought how useful it would be to have dots on top of ally names, color turning from green to red as they lose hp for easier tracking of who is who and who needs help RIGHT NOW.

Another simpler version would be to have different colored dots on each ally & party frame, just so you have a general idea of who is who in the thick of things.
This could possibly be done pretty easily, as we already got those commander icons.

Any thoughts?

edit: oh, before anyone thinks about WvW screen clutter, I thought this would only be for 5v5.

Using shield for block, reflection, -33%dmg for party and blast finisher, and elixir gun for super elixir & acid bomb for blast finisher.

When I have to save others with heals and wont have any left for myself, I just pop elixir S to save my own butt.
If that’s not enough, I dodge 4x in a row with elixir R after and should have some heals off CD.

Often using super elixir + elixir shell on top of each other if I have a troop of melee stackers with me, so they can dish out faster dps because they don’t have to dodge aoes and condis get turned to boons

Blasting pretty much the same stuff, and really love elixir shell.
Orbi + AB + MS on it in pvp makes the enemies doubt their burst specs xD

Pop magnetic shield/acid bomb/orbital there too for extra “wtf!1” for the enemy team, you only leave it down situationally, perhaps 0,1% of the times you use it

Supply crate is another of those good on paper things but weak in practice, the most useful part about it is the aoe stun xD.

if you want to heal effectively, you will understand that elixir shell is one of the most useful healing skills in the game, you also gain aoe snare, blind, vulnerability and turrets/medkits simply can’t compete with it

if you compare med vs ht, the former is a toy and the latter is godmode, when it should be the other way around if you really think about the sacrifices you have to make to use the kit in combat.

our internal balance sucks hard and still no dev posts about it.. silly

psa: oh yeah, the turret pop cd is now 18 seconds, not 15 for some reason

Keep playing
I’m doing the opposite of the current meta and feeling pretty useful if I’m rolling with people who aren’t twitch reflex veterans, playing a healer/CC in PVP/PVE ^^

Engineer is such a versatile class you can pretty much play it however you wish, so go to the mists and try every different build in PVP till you find one that you like

Also, the game will stay pretty much the same, we only get new content like raids where different builds will be more useful and action camera mode.

Do dungeons after lvl 30, you will gain about 80% of a level for each completion and learn a lot about the game, like dodging and movement in general..
And combo fields, one of the most important aspects of teamwork in this game ^^

If you head into Ascalonian Catacombs at lvl 30+.. Remember to watch out for traps!

PSA: Throw elixir S on downed allies to drop their aggro.. Works in pvp to stop finishes as well

anyways, the gyro is still pretty useless imo as well, I don’t really understand what they’re trying to accomplish with scrapper, but let’s hope it turns out good & useful some day

Health Insurance: 15% Outgoing Heal Effectiveness
Med Blaster: Heal allies with a wave of healing energy. Heals more for each boon on that ally.

And HT totally pwns it as a group healing tool, and it doesn’t even have any traits for that role.

It’s a design error, as it’s clearly meant to be THE group healing kit, and perhaps other classes don’t have that kitten because we’re meant to take that role, thus we even have traits and kits that only affect healing of others, not ourselves?

What do we NEED as a class? Hammers and drones? Why don’t we NEED our basic class functions fixed too?

MedKit changes are amazing, pretty sure I’d keep those syringes strapped to my wrist almost 24/7 with these changes, it would be unimaginably strong when paired with elixir shells and super elixirs. Would the engi himself gain the heals and buffs as well in your mind?

Everyone seems to want to fix that kit, and I think the devs don’t know what it’s supposed to be just for that very reason, total skill identity crisis xD.
If they make it into AOE, I don’t think there would be a chance for people to die when rolling with a total healbot engi, but the current version shouldn’t be used pretty much ever, because why kitten yourself on purpose? So it definitely needs a lot of changes to become a viable alternative.

Mine should’ve always been like that, the current version is more like a satchel charge or something. Mines were invented to blow up when disturbed, so YES PLEASE.

Ram seems quite.. Strong
Dunno if AOE stunning would be too wacky, especially when traited into Gadgeteer, it’s a pretty low cooldown skill after all, changing the CD longer would make it really situational as well, because you would want to save it “for that moment when I need it”

A.E.D, I like your idea, this skill definitely needs a lot of love, all the other healing skills than HT need it tbh.
Would condis deal their remaining dmg as burst or would each convert into a set amount of raw damage, what type would the damage be?

Glue shot.. Hmm, I personally like the current version, it’s easy to use and does what it’s supposed to, I’m not opposing change tho
Would the only difference be area size and shape?
If the shape would be the same as Inspiring Reinforcement, it would own in hallways and stairs

Traits are pretty cool too, especially fire within, Operation and Complete should imo be paired into some existing traits in either alchemy or inventions lines

tldr: I like most, please explain more in detail because you have some cool stuff in your brain

Funny idea with the rezz stuff, but I wonder if I would want traits that only work in the occasion when I have failed in my job of keeping people alive, and would I actually start taking risks with peoples lives just so I can use my revive traits.. Would people start dying on purpose to get the boons, would the new meta become “let’s die while the engi drops Elixir R and rezz with buffs!”.. xD

Cool idea anyways, throw in +15% revive speed to Health Insurance to make that trait more appealing too

What bugs me the most are Super Elixir & Elixir Shell, they are such fine healing skills and when traited they also grant 2 stacks of might for 27seconds, not shabby at all.
…and they’re in elite/utility kits?
imo it would make more sense to have an ability like that in the specialized healing kit?

Looking at Elixir Shell especially, it creates almost 7 second duration water field when traited, so it’s really good for pumping blasts, double orbi + acid bomb + magnetic shield is some nice bursts on top of the aoe field heal it has, don’t even think about others in the group blasting as well, because medkit starts to look pretty weak in comparison :P

Would be useless to trait for Health Insurance in that case tho, as you would lose the 15%+ healing when you drop the kit to use your blast finishers.

Oh well, keep brainstorming till we hit a homerun with something Hoping devs are starting to notice our whines.

If you’ve read these forums for the past 3 weeks or so, you might have noticed a lot of similar threads most of them have really cool ideas how to make med kit viable and good to use.

Imo, CD reduction is the first thing that should happen for the skills, second is A PANIC HEAL, the reason we pick HT.

You tap a button twice and another button once, you and your teammates are all at 100% hp(assuming you stick together) and it clears 2 condis, what’s not to like about it?

HT is the only panic heal when someone in your team takes spike damage and falls to 20%~ hp, kitten ing around with medkit is pretty much useless at that point and you should just toss elixir R there already to rez him when he dies.

With HT, you get near the dude and totally save his kitten , and you can do it again in 15 seconds.

The medkit as it is, seems good on paper, it has good HPS when doing the math, but reaching that HPS in an actual encounter is a completely different matter

For example, you can stack 4 heals on the ground to pick them all up at once for a crazy spike heal, but if you get knocked back a couple times, you gained 0 hp/s, didn’t clear condis and have half of your heals on cooldown and the kits have vanished from the ground because of the low time they linger.

Saving someone else with this kit requires more coordination/communication than pilot/gunner in planetside, seriously?

“ok m8, i threw a stim near the gate, left side, not that side, dude. its right there.
ok, it’s already gone gg.”

IF they would still stay on the ground for a good while, there wouldn’t be a problem, it would be the tactical healing tool for high skill gaming where you stack piles of heals so you can grab em when you need em.

You might want to rebind 1 to a mouse thumb button or something.
Easier to spam them while running too, and can strafe to left as well..

Using pinky to tap 1 is not an option for me, as I bound dodge to shift as the first thing when I installed the game.

Overlap the fields so they’re not right on top of each other, and stand on the edge of your water field.

Playing a healing kitten build with mortar and egun myself, with S and R.
I can’t kill anything 1v1 but nothing can kill me either, so it’s fine, hug allies <3
You can also carry scrubs through dungeons even if they don’t know how to dodge.

Double orbital strike on a water field is pretty crazy AOE heal, but needs perfect timing and some precognition.

I’ve noticed the same a lot, but as I keep rezzing others, they seem to take the hint ^^
I also like to mark downed allies as target in pvp, seems to work most of the time

Also don’t care if you missed a dodge, I’ll still top you to 100%, supporting people is the most fun you can ever have, it’s mentally a completely different game

imo, scrapper has so many issues I don’t even care for it atm :P but as they’ve already spent a lot of time on it, don’t think it’ll get scrapped.

it’s like some unholy mix of Squig Herder/Warrior Priest from warhammer, except that those exploding balls of skin and farts were more intelligent than our robots

I agree with the last posters, HT is fine and GOOD right now, the other tools should be brought to it’s level instead.

If you want to heal your allies, it’s the only option atm, it’s reliable.

For a healer reliable means I will take it over unreliable tools, why would I cast a heal if it doesn’t find its intended target?

Even if you’re the best at throwing medpacks in the world, you depend on your allies to pick them up, and you’re also not doing anything else than throwing packs around the place while everyone else is healing AND pumping out CCs and dmg.

For every pack that spins on the ground without anyone picking it up, you have spent 2-3 seconds for nothing.
Make it 4 packs because someone popped an AOE heal and nobody bothers to lose their position to go pick up a buff, and you’ve just spent sixth of a minute for nothing.

thanks miri I think the original idea is quite funny, and works in clean environments well, but as soon as you add some mobs and spell effects to the mix, the mini heal kits simply vanish in the middle of the chaos
it would require telepathy atm to reach the same amount of effectiveness as HT can pump out :P
Also, camera angles will mess it up at some point even if they add arrows or whatever beacons to the medkits, even a big enough mob will completely hide the markers if it’s close enough to your face.

I’m trying to think from 10 man raid healing perspective atm, and I just don’t see the current targeting mechanics working at all in that setting. PBAoe works, for sure, but then medkit wouldn’t be “special” in any way.. just a really good healing kit :P

We also need hotkeys to target teammates if Solution 2 becomes reality, lets hope it does not just target next/nearest ally key.

Imo, we need more control, because control is the key to healing. Relying on wounded people to heal themselves with our mini medkits is just silly and simply does not work.
You can’t rely on them at all, AT ALL.

Anet, that is the reason nobody tries to seriously use the kit, it’s silly, people like to be effective, not silly, so they pick HT for 2 waterfields, crazy emergency AOE heals, ability to use offensive/utility/protection abilities WHILE healing and AOE knockback(and blast finisher so another heal if specced..) from explosives build.

the best thing about medkit atm is 15% outgoing healing while using mortar/egun aoe heals, and even that utility is behind keyboard juggling and often you can accomplish the same and more by slapping down a healing turret.

It simply takes too much time and effort to use the kit when compared to other options, so when a healer is going to work, he’s only gonna take reliable and useful tools with him.

Would you clean your floors with a brush of a vacuum cleaner? Both work, but after using the vacuum for a while, you don’t wanna go back to the brush.

It’s exactly the same for medkit/HT.

Solution 1: Make every medkit skill PBAOE but cut down the buffs slightly.
Solution 2: Let us throw kits straight to our selected friendly target so we have CONTROL.

There’s no point holding on to broken mechanics just because they’re unique, give us instead mechanics that MAKE SENSE AND WORK.

I think they should show us the cooldowns of other abilities, but no breaking out of the elixir imo.

That’s the only drawback it has, you can even chug it down while rezzing someone without interruption.
