Med Kit feels useless

It’s a strange kit for sure, and the only buff for years was a 17% bonus to Health Insurance trait.

Lots of nerfs tho, the vials fly slower, need to be closer to target to consume em, and last a lot less time on the ground.

The only good way to use it right now is the toolbelt heal, throwing swiftness to yourself and changing to it during heal combo blasts/super elixir for the bonus heals for allies.

Anyone else hate the new HT?!

The only ways I can think about to achieve that, is to add more hotkeys.

There’s simply too many functions crammed under too few keys in the current turret system, either you lose control of tb skills, overcharges or detonation, think of having tb and oc, but having to pick up all your turrets manually and no blast finishers..

I don’t play meta, medkit 4 lyfe, but I still have to say that I never see anyone keep a healing turret on the ground, and I never did keep em down myself either, it was simply so much stronger when used “wrong”

Turrets haven’t been useful as turrets for a couple years now, and I haven’t seen a healing turret planted on the ground for more than 2 seconds for ages either.

It seems to me that most of the engineer players actually used healing turret because there was no better alternative for a fast aoe heal+clean+waterfield+blast, and if there would have been a skill that did all of this without being a turret, people would have used that instead.

I too would like to see turrets working, but they have only become weaker since launch, so I wouldn’t have my hopes up.

I join full run pugs, cuz I like to be with random people for at least 45min instead of 5 like in fracs Great way to make friends and to show some new people how the mechanics work, and to hand em 18 slot bags if they’re f2p

Completed my 400th run since the Frequenter achi was added, just wish we could have more dungeons instead of open world zerg fests.

They could be much harder and require a comp, like raids, so you’d have to get a tanky guy with toughness to hold aggro, healy dude for heels and 3 dps/ccs, for that good ol’ dungeon crawl feeling.

Yeah, this suggestion was for the disability thread and it’s probably a lot slower than key presses, but might be just what someone missing a few fingers needs to enjoy the game

I don’t think VA would ever give you any kind of an unfair advantage if you follow the sticky macro rules, the programs functions don’t differ that much from autohotkey, only that the input is your voice instead of another button.

Would also like to know Anets stance on this program, just in case I chop off a finger while woodworking.

It’s all about gear actually, as others have already said.
For example, my lvl 40 warrior deals loooads more dmg than my 80 engi in the same zone, simply because the warrior is clad in power+preci and the engi wears vita+preci+healing power.

With the warrior I can go crazy and keep pulling mobs, killing them almost instantly even if they’re the same level as me.
With the engi I can pull more mobs because of the increased survivability(it can only die in world pve if you’re afk), don’t have to dodge at all, but killing anything takes ages.

Which one is more powerful?

I only remember being duel spammed at 3 spots in wow, outside OG, IF and during the Argent Tournament

We also dueled before dungeons, raids, while waiting for pvp matches to start, to test builds, to fool around, to get to places using attack skills that moved your character(leaps, charges.. etc..)…
And so on and so forth.

to me it seems like being against ice cream because you were out in the snow once and it was cold

About inspection, think we can scrap that idea because people seem to be against the idea of providing better tools for RLs because they don’t wish other people too see their pants.

You can wear whatever pants you wish, but some people like to make their outfits match for the performance, and for that I wish we could at the very least get a clickable character description you can fill in yourself, or chat links for character/build.

You can drop all AOE field abilities to your feet by targeting any part of the UI, like your ability bars or minimap etc..

I would really like to understand this hostility against dueling and inspections, what are people afraid of?

Chances are you won’t be going anywhere with a person who inspects gear if you’re not linking it to them in chat already, linking builds is harder tho, because you cannot copy text directly from the chat window.

Other option would be to link our whole character to the chat, so people clicking on the link could inspect us, thus avoiding all the intrusive gear peeping people seem to be so afraid of.

Have you noticed what content is being pushed out? It already requires your group to either gear/build a working raid or wipe repeatedly.

If you’re scared of such elitism, don’t join people who wish to optimize, it’s that simple.

Having “Let other players/friends/guildies inspect my equipment” toggles would also be fancy and protect your secret stats and builds from leaking out to the public.. xD

They should already be in the game, especially inspection.

Inspection would help many raid leaders, and the community as a whole, they could form pugs easier and give hints to people if they see something wrong with their builds for the comp they’re building.

Asking 9 people to link their gear/builds in /tell sounds better to some people I guess, they don’t form raids I bet.

If DR was actually meant to combat botting, there would probably be some kind of a CAPTCHA system in place.

At the moment, it only seems to combat farming the same thing over and over again, why they wish to restrict such activities is a mystery to me, tho.

A botter will just log in another character if the rewards are lucrative enough, someone who is actually selling gold to players with his bots owns probably around 100 accounts or more full of 80s.

I think you should watch the video, it actually tells you all the good ways to make gold, and even has a list of materials nodes linked in the description.

He also only has 230~ views, so he is not making mad cash with your precious click.

so, instead of writing a confusing wall of text how to make money, he made a video so you can just click once and relax while watching him explain that stuff, you people do realize it would take a lot of text and pictures to convey all the information in that 2 minute video?

A couple things they could do to make it feel more useful, would be to make drop bandages throw 3, but at 33% effectiveness, but they would all apply regen.

Fury & Swiftness should be AOE, drop healing done to balance.

Condiclean should be 250~ radius PBAOE.

Would be funnier to use for sure.

Well, water jet range and healing is better for sure, but the radius is only 240, med blaster is a 600 range cone.

If I would try to do the same kind of battle healing with it, I would only reach a small portion of the targets I’m healing right now.
The hp/s might actually be about the same, except that as an ele I wouldn’t have that 33% bonus for my other sources of healing.

I would also lose AOE combat rezz which is worth quite a lot in a pvp setting, stealth, shield, blinds, massive amount of condi>boon conversion…

You seem to be living under the impression that I’m ONLY using med blaster, which is still not the case

You’re also insulting me personally for using a different skill in a MMO game than you, are you feeling mature now?

Everything benefits from it except MS and AB for my build, why would anyone with a medkit build have ft btw?

Also, med blaster heals about 1,1-1,5k(depends on the amount of boons) every 1,25 sec(or less with quickness)

It’s quite noticeable, especially when doing WvW healing, as it never hits you and has max targets 5 and it prioritizes people under 100% health so there’s no over healing either.

Keep in mind that I’ll have a HOT field for people to stand in while spamming MB as well as regeneration, which all gain the 33% benefit, resulting in hp/s numbers that are simply impossible to get with HT.

Wish we had dps and hps meters in this game just so we could share results better so engi healing wouldn’t be so kittening cryptic

Yeah, that 11k was the benefit you get from medkit for the orbi blast, not the total outgoing amount healed, which would be around 34k~.

The point of that number juggle was to show that it’s not some small benefit, but A LOT, a whole 1/3 more than without it.

Also, when using medkit it’s more about constantly healing so much with regens/hot/medblaster that you will only use waterfield blasting for huge damage spikes, otherwise you can use all your blasts to stack might and get enough healing from soothing detonations to have everyones hp topped most of the time.

I also used to play a HT mdf cleric, and that works just fine for what it does, but there’s a good reason I changed to MK bd magi and haven’t looked back.

You like a panic button which is fine, but I’m talking about a huge benefit at the touch of a button, no cool down, that has great synergy with other healing skills in your kitten nal.

For example:

Soothing Detonation
When you trigger a combo using a blast finisher, allies near the effect are healed.
Healing: 340 (0.2)
Number of Targets: 5
Radius: 240

2k HP + 40% outgoing:
Healing: 1036

Medkit equipped( 73% outgoing):
Healing: 1280

So let’s say you’re dropping Siege Rounds traited OS on an Elixir Shell field with medkit equipped.
The second it hits, that’s gonna be 2×2975 from the blasts, 2×1280 from soothing.

Medkit has increased it by 2758.

Got 4 people in the field? Cool, now medkit has increased it by 11032.

We’re not counting in regens, field HOT and med blasting, but I’m pretty sure you’re starting to understand what I’m trying to say here.

The kit is better than ever at this very moment if you utilize it as a better sigil of transference.

I think that’s the problem for most people using it, they’re not built to heal otherwise so the kit seems totally useless when it’s actually the best party healing skill in the game.

It simply doesn’t work for hybrids, at all.
Gotta pump all points into +Healing power and +Outgoing healing or you’re better off with HT/gyro.

The niche of Medkit is that trait.
Health Insurance: 33% Outgoing Heal Effectiveness

This has nice synergy with blasts into Elixir Shell, regen, shooting Super Elixir and swapping to medkit during projectile flight and even with Toss Elixir R for a lot faster revives…but that’s pretty much it.
You can spam blaster and throw swiftness for that guy who always lags behind.. but I think they could come up with something better for at least one skill slot

I’ve always played a healer role in MMOs, and I gotta say playing engineer healer is the most fun I’ve had so far in the last 12 years of heal/support.

In most games, a healer targets a party member and taps some buttons, but for a medic engie everything is a “skillshot” or PBAOE except the medblaster, and it’s just lovely to play with.

Super active and “hard” if you compare it to any other MMOs healing mechanics.

Reminds me of WoW Survival spec Hunter in Burning Crusade times, they had this debuff that was applied on the target, which improved attack power of attackers by 25% of the hunters agility.

If the raid group was about physical dps instead of magical, a SV hunter was always picked for that dps boost, and I guess this would do the same for engis

Think they should try making 2-5 into aoes just to see if we turn OP.

The amount of skill required to hit with them atm is quite balls, and I was reliably shooting planes down with a tank in planetside 2 so leading comes naturally to me.

Guess I’ll agree with the rest and say they’re too hard to use for what they actually do :P

My experiences in WvW seem different, ally health bars barely move DOWN at all because I can easily keep em topped if my guys stand in HOT fields, and we beat the same size blobs without casualties

I also use mortar and dot everything to gain loots, to me it sounds like you’re playing it wrong.

Med blaster is actually quite amazing, if you’re wearing full healing gear and your targets have boons on them.
If you’re healing 4-5 people and nobody has boons on them, you should probably find some better company or teach em how to play.

For me it’s about 1200~ / 1,3sec.
CDless cone AOE that can hit up to 5 targets.

46 casts a minute = 56k~ from med blasting for a single person, if hitting 5 targets(like in wvw) thats about 280k~ a minute.

So imo, blaster is just fine it’s the other skills that could use some kind of a boost.

Keep in mind that nobody ever casts it 46 times a min, but you get the idea.
It’s one of the strongest HP/second skills in the whole game, and one you can use while the rest of your heals are on cooldown.

Let’s hope the rest get buffed a bit, they seem quite sad compared to blaster

Many threads about this in the past with good results, at least they already changed med blaster to affect 5 instead of 3, added 15% more outgoing healing to the trait and made the blaster target friendlies when you have them selected instead of the enemy target.

Next one that would boost the quality of life for med kit users, would be to make the throwables able to be picked up while they’re flying, so they don’t need to land on the ground first.

Having used the kit for hundreds of hours, I can already hit moving people with them pretty reliably, but sometimes the pack wont get picked up before the dude standing on top of it moves slightly, or I throw a fury to Mr. X and he decides to dodge at the same time, so that fury is wasted even as the bottle passed through that guys torso

Try elixir shell + Double OS with medkit equipped, it’s very delicious into a pile of hurt allies.

Also eat some rice balls, they’re a cheap +100 healing +10% outgoing buff

Anet pretty clearly redesigned it for healing others, and it already has one strong self heal as the toolbelt skill.

Good stuff Kodama, overdose sounds just like the kind of mechanic the kit could use to remove some awkward aspects of using it.
also I like that there would be another reason for keeping my eyes on friendly boonbars.

AC is more about tactics than gear, it’s perfectly doable at 35.

I suggest either checking some guides or training in the dungeon itself, are your groups tight or running all over the place?

If it’s the latter I understand why you’re having trouble It’s a team game and most classes buff nearby allies constantly with might, regen & protection.

Are you familiar with the combo system and all that kinda stuff?

I haven’t even thought about adding a pull mechanic to the boomerang shield, it would become very useful when doing group buffs with Big Ol Bomb so you could pull back what you knocked back and would save us from drowning in warrior tears.

Check out Toss Elixir R as well, it benefits from outgoing healing bonuses and revives VERY FAST with the medkit equipped, which is another reason why I’m rolling with it instead of HT.

Hmm, funny that for my build the throwables already heal others for 1700~

So 1500 +0.25*healpowah (2k~) +73% outgoing healing would be.. 3460

So if I would spend the whole 3-4~ seconds throwing all 4 packs, it would reach almost 14k from just picking them up.

As a comparison, a blast finisher into a wf for this build heals others for 3k, super elixir for 2500~

But like, I don’t want a fury boon myself, I’m a healer, I wanna throw it to “that guy” standing over there you know, so he can melt faces.

Same with swiftness, I wanna throw it to the guy who needs to be faster, like when you’re skipping mobs and one guy gets stunned/rooted/X.

I don’t actually want to go there myself and drop it on his face.
Throwing mechanic we have atm is a lot better for helping others instead of yourself, which imo ties in well with the medkit trait outgoing healing bonus.

btw, what kind of AOE skill targeting are you using? imo the one that you hold and release to cast works best with MK.

Imo the protection is there for the times when you can’t utilize the reflection/block because you need to actually do something else than stand around tanking the hits, and it spreads to your allies as well.

For example, there’s a downed guy getting stomped who you should save, so you pop MS twice to knock the bad guy away, reduce the incoming dmg from aoes/condis to your buddy by 33% and can save him because you interrupted the stomp and kept the dmg low enough for your rez speed to surpass it.

Have you tried using it and swap to it when your other heals/blast finishers are about to go off?

Imo that 15% >> 33% outgoing healing for health insurance was quite a buff, and as I’ve used MK all the time now, I can actually hit running people most of the time with the throwables.. and throwing that crap is so addicting

Hammer requires scrapper tho, and doesn’t provide the same level of group wide protection.

What sort of a rework do you have in mind? Because the shield works really well for the build I’m running, which is all about group support and dmg mitigation, which imo is what the shield should be used for

It’s not stuck in the past, it has a blast finisher and Over Shield is nice during hard hitting boss attacks for the whole crew Static shields block when you know you’re about to take a hit is a lifesaver as well, and sometimes you actually get to reflect stuff with MS xD

Perhaps a 5sec reduction for both, but even that would make them quite a lot stronger than they are atm.
I just wish Over Shield stays the way it is even if the CDs get reduced, -1/3 from a 20k hit is quite a lot of dmg mitigation and has saved more kitten s than I can count
