Well, I played for most of the day on Saturday, full MF buffs and everything. Had 1 rare drop the entire time. I’m convinced that someone else is getting my drops :P
It’s Random-guy-#55! He’s been getting all my drops too! I heard he performed a dark ritual at the mouth of hell involving a Charr, an Asura and a three goats. Since then, he’s been getting a lot of people’s drops!
I put in all my voting tokens into Evon’s bucket but its not enough! sob I am so angry! I didn’t even bother getting a Kiel doll because who the f—- wants a Kiel doll! Evon 4 ever!
Up until recently my thief looked liked like this but using summer as an excuse, I have her a new hair-cut and bought her one of the pretty new armours! I think she looks really cool now! Maybe a little techno for a thief but can’t you just see her stroking a cat after stealing the world’s biggest diamond for no other reason except that she can!
Also, I just wanted to say to the Anet armour designers. The Magitech Armour is GORGEOUS!!! More armour like this please! Especially for the heavy classes.
Thanks folks, I think I will grab a mace and a 1-h sword and reacquaint myself with both before making a decision.
PS. I don’t really want to sell out and sit on gold and hope the new pre-cursors won’t be grindy or the new legendaries way better then the old legendaries because there is just too much uncertainly in that plan. I mean, for all we know it be more grindy and horrible then current legendaries.

Thanks for all the answers guys! Bolt is very elegant but Moot is awesomely tacky. RL, I would go for Bolt 100% of the time. In-game I could be an awesomely tacky guardian! Anyway, I’ll think about it some more. Thanks again!
I’m still deciding on who to vote for.
Interesting to see that everyone is expecting either a GW2 version of the final boss battle of GW Nightfall, or to be able to play as one of the Gods in some sort of epic battle of heavenly proportions. Anyway this speculation seems to be the motivator.
How do you know that the Fractal will allow you to do this? What will you do if the Fractal doesn’t do this and just turns out to be a normal run where you play a second-hand or even third-hand role.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to bash anyone. I just want to know how you all are so sure about the Fractal content. I might have missed a post with some additional information.
We don’t! It’s a risk. But we don’t know what the reactor Fractal will be either. Plus the new Fractal would have to scale too. So very likely the low level version of the new Fractal won’t be much. But the thing is, no matter how epic the Fractal ends up being, it will be a disappointment because we want so much from it! But that’s cool, I think. Aim for the moon, you might still hit a mountain if you miss. Besides which, I would still like to be in the war, even if I am just foot soldier under King Doric. It’s still the Fractal I want!
Ok step back and take a deep breath. You are thinking way too much and it pains me to think that you actually feel that this is a legit problem that needed the forums attention.
Just do what you want. If you want a lightning sword get bolt, if you want whatever moot offers, then get moot
It’s something that’s weighing on my mind and I thought input from the wisdom of the crowd would be nice.
If I were you, I would just cash-in and forget about the legendary, for now. You said you don’t farm and you’re a casual, so it might take a big commitment for you to see it thru the end. Also, it sounds like you were forced to work on legendary because of the drop, and not something you planned all along.
It’s true. Legendary was not on the “to do list”. But I while I don’t farm I do, do dungeons. Most of my money and stuff came from Fractals, which I enjoy very much. I also like doing Crucible of Eternity. So if I had to go on with Bolt, I would do more Fractals and CoE. But thing about that is one Fractal run or one CoE run = my entire play time most days. I don’t mind but it does mean no more dailies, monthlies and maybe sacrificing doing living story stuff. I mean, I haven’t been running Fractals recently because I have been doing Living Story.
So yeah, Bolt mean weeks of not seeing anything outside of Fractals and CoE. Moot = I am done with legendaries within a week, two at most.
So back in November, the Ancient Karka ruined my life by giving me Zap. Had Zap not dropped for me, I doubt I would have bothered with a legendary. I consider myself too casual for something like a legendary. But you know, I was handed a Zap and thus began my legendary journey.
I do not farm. No speed runs, Orr farming or whatever or flip TP, which is why I have only recently managed to get Gift of Fortune and Gift of Mastery. So I am now stuck on Gift of Bolt.
I don’t have 100g (at the moment) for the 100 rune stones or the Gift of Lightening. I do have the Rune of Air and Gift of Metal.
For the Gift of Lightening I have the Gift of Ascalon but far, far from enough charged lodestones, grossamere or orichalcum. Although I am not too worried about grossamere or orichalcum.
However, if I were to sell my Zap and buy an Energizer, my money woes will disappear and I’ll easily be able to make the Gift of Moot! My hang-up there will actually be needing to get CM tokens for the gift of Nobleman for the Gift of Entertainment. But that’s shouldn’t be too difficult.
But should I switch to Moot or stick with Bolt…
Moot would have to go to my Guardian, who would pair it with her Fractal focus. Bolt would also go to her but technically, Bolt could also go to my Ranger or my Thief. But I do consider the Guardian to be my main and besides, she was the one who looted the Zap from the Karka chest.
I should also explain that guardian hasn’t used either sword or mace for a very long time. She currently uses hammer or greatsword for melee weapons. So I have no preference per say between 1-h sword or mace. I am sure I could make both work.
Look guys, we all know it doesn’t matter who gives lip service to who. Ultimately, what matters is who is going to actually hit the road and do the hard slog! So let us leave these forums to Kiel and her supporters and hit the game in support of Evon!
See you in-game folks! See you in-game!
Yes I’m getting into the spirit of the event, so what? lol.
Here! Here! Evon has my support! Always support the guy who can easily be made in to a plushie! That’s my moto!
I would say that Hell does exist in Tyria, but here it is called Realm of Torment.
And looking at the helmet at least it does look like something that would come out of there.
And that is perfectly acceptable, however they are not called Tormentfire Gauntlets. Which actually doesn’t sound bad at all.
Who said Hell doesn’t exist in Tyria? Hell’s Precipice was a place in the Ring of Fire islands in GW 1. That location is currently in-accessible. There is also Hellmouth Falls in Mount Malestrom. If it makes you feel better, you can assume that Hellfire refers to the fire of Mount Malestrom or the fires in Hell’s Precipice or something like that.
I think it really comes down to whether you want celestial gear and, more importantly, capable of making celestial gear. I mean, all celestial gear is account bound, as are the “Charged Quartz”. Having Charged Quartz is not enough but you also need to specific recipes to make stuff and the armour recipes at least are not cheap! So you basically must really, really want celestial items to sink the necessarily gold into getting stuff.
I don’t know how many people are THAT dedicated to celestial stuff. Engineers, Elementalists and Guardians sure because they are “rounded professions”. But everybody else… eh.. don’t get me wrong, quartz prices will go up but I don’t think it will go up THAT much because I am not entirely sure of the demand being there. But I could be wrong.
How many people use waypoints? Everyone.
How many people buy keys? I guess not more than 30%.As simple as that. BL chest are simply not worth the key price (even if it was reduced by 50%).
I am not advocating BL keys, merely pointing out that as a temporary reduction you have to consider the time frame in with WP costs will be reduced. I.e. what good is it if its under utilised or not utilised enough. I personally think basing your vote of either of the temporary reductions, both WP and keys, is not wise but that’s just me.
Skins are $5-$10, if you buy them outright.
With RNG skins you could spend $100 or more to get the skin.Stop legitimizing this SCAM!
Excuse me but the top three skins listed on the TP are,
1. Ghastly Grinning Shield Skin – cheapest sale price 325 g
2. Greatsaw Greatsword Skin – cheapest sale price 215 g
3. Scythe Staff Skin – cheapest sale price 150 g
At current exchange rates 1 g costs 0.53 USD to buy through gems. So in RL dollars the top three skins listed on the TP right now cost,
1. Ghastly Grinning Shield Skin – cheapest sale price $172.25
2. Greatsaw Greatsword Skin – cheapest sale price $113.95
3. Scythe Staff Skin – cheapest sale price $79.5
So tell me again how skins don’t cost $100+? There is also the fact, only a small handful of players ever spent $100 chasing after the limited edition skins. Most spent far, far less then that and stopped because they either got their skin or called it quits because their “spend limit” was reached.
Lastly, but most importantly, IF someone does spend $100 in gems to chase after skins or hell converts it into in-game gold to get one of the three skins I used as examples, who are you to tell them they can’t? How is it a scam? The amount of money a person is willing to spend on these skins is indicative of how much value they place on the skins. If they like the skin enough to spend $100+ chasing after them, that’s really their business and hardly a scam.
You still want to open those scam chests?
It’s only a scam if you’ve convinced yourself that you’re guaranteed something you want.
Exactly! I really, really wish people would stop assuming that we ALL have a problem with RNG. We don’t! Maybe because we win, consistently, or maybe because we understand commerce and economics (and thus know directly selling skins benefits no one) and most importantly, probability. But whatever the reason, we don’t all have issues with RNG and thus pegging a vote for Evon to a vote for RNG is not a sound strategy for Kiel supporters.
Wrong! There is mostly junk in the chest. It’s the small change that a player will get something good. That keeps people buying them.
Anet is taking advantage players who can’t control themselves. Gambling is a illness for some people.
Gambling is not an illness. Gambling ADDICTION is an illness. Just like game addiction is an illness. Saying gambling is an illness is like saying gaming is an illness. Gambling is just an activity, a game of chance nothing more.
Unless you think people occasionally trying for a lucky dip or entering a raffle is an addiction, this RNG related arguments have gone off the deep end. I mean, essentially that’s all the skins in RNG chests really is: a lucky dip or a raffle. Most lucky dips and raffles have 1-2 good prizes and the rest are crap. But people still enter because they want to support the cause for which the lucky dip or raffle is being held, not because they have some sort of a illness that compels them to. In this case the RNG boxes are a way to support Anet and Guild Wars 2 and people are happy to do it.
If that is not a way you want to support Anet or GW 2 that’s fine. Nobody is telling you to but in turn, you should really stop telling other people how they choose to support Anet and GW 2. Especially by invoking groundless hyperboles.
Just wanted to remind you folks to consider what you will be doing/how much you will be playing Guild Wars during the 4 weeks the WP costs will be reduced before voting for Kiel.
Cutthroat Politics is likely to go for all of August. So earliest the 4 weeks is going to happen is in September. But the four weeks of reduced WP might not actually happen until October!
Consider what your schedule is going to be in September/October. Will you have work related deadlines? Starting school/college etc? Will you have exams? Are you going on holiday? Is there an event scheduled for that period that’s likely to keep you away from the game?
Now obviously if you think Kiel is the best candidate or like her Fractal choice, that’s a totally different matter. But if your primary motivation for voting for Kiel is the WP reduction, it’s important to consider the period during which the WP costs will be reduced. It may not be as beneficial given the time frame because September/October is a busy period in RL.
I run Fractals so my primary consideration is Fractals. WP costs are something that effects me too but recently I haven’t been doing a lot of world PVE and so really can’t see myself saving more then a few silvers with the temp WP costs reduction. Plus by my calculations, the 4 week WP reduction should come into effect September/October. I am likely to be very busy during that period so probably won’t even be able to play! So the temporary WP costs really isn’t swaying me one way or another. BL keys…. if they are super cheap, I might pick some up but again, not really swaying me.
Only thing that is going to effect my vote is the permanent content: the new fractal and lore, since I care about the lore. That’s why I am voting for Evon! I like his fractal and I think he’s the better candidate for the city of commerce run by ex-pirates.
I can barely jump! You can ask my guildes who treat me as a sack of potatoes to be transported via portal when we do something jumping related. It take intense concentration for me to get-up the steps in the “Uncategorised Fractal”. Yet slowly but surely I was able to get my Zephyr Sanctum Model. Now I really, really, really wanted the Zephyr Sanctum Model. It just looked like the coolest thing ever! So I stuck with it and slowly but surely got enough crystals to get my model. sob I am so happy!
Which brings me to my final point. There is no such thing as “blind” lucky! You have to do things to put yourself in a position to get lucky! If you never do dungeon, never open chests or do anything that gives you the opportunity to score big, that’s your fault! Luck, afterall, is a skill that can be learnt . So go play the kitten game and stop whining about your luck!
Lucky in life and lucky in a video game are not the same. I mean, I’d venture to say I’m lucky in life. Great job, great house, loving family, all that good stuff that the article was talking about.
In GW2 none of that matters. Using the coffers from Dragon Bash as an example. It took me 6000 coffer openings to get ONE jade ticket. I finally announced my joy in guild chat and not one, not two, but three other guildies remarked that they are on their 4th and 5th tickets in under 2000 coffers. Other guildies were in the same boat as me.
Did I miss an opportunity because I wasn’t paying attention? Was I not thinking positive? Nope. Was just bad luck any way you look at it. Or they had good luck. Luck in life is mostly a perception thing. You see the guy in the Ferrari and you think, “man that guy’s lucky!”. For all you know he’s had a thousand horrible experiences before finally getting to that point.
In GW2 luck is RNG. You can’t control it. You can try with MF, but even that only gets you so far.
You are not comparing apples and oranges here. Winning the Jade Ticket equivalent in real life is winning a non-transferable lottery for a item/service/event whatever. But my comment was not addressed towards that type of lottery which you cannot control except by entering as many times as you can.
To recap, I replied to the following conversation sequence:
Why have something in the game if you don’t plan for the people who want it to be able to obtain it?
Absolutely anyone can obtain it. Lack of gold is not a terminal disease. Earn more, spend less, do exactly the same amount of work that people who can afford it now have spent. Nothing is stopping anyone from acquiring it.
A lot of the people who have that much money, have gotten blind lucky, having gotten rare drops that made them a lot of money. They haven’t had to put forth hardly any effort.
The amount of gold you can earn in game is controllable. As are instances of getting items that given you a boost to your bank account. The “luck” I was talking about is the luck you have when you get a charged lodestone form a Fractal or Crucible of Eternity chest. You can’t control whether you get charged lodestones ore not, especially since magic find does not effect chests. However, if you never run Fractals or Crucible of Eternity, you have have the chance to get charged lodestones at all. More importantly, just by doing Fractals or CoE, you get a certain amount of gold and loot. Even if you are “unlucky”, over time you will have enough gold to buy the charged lodestones you need.
That’s my point! We have all these people here pretending 15g is some sort of impossible to reach goal and it really, really isn’t. If you farm and speed clear, you will get there faster but just by doing world events, 100%ing zones or running around in WvW you can make that kind of money. But we have people who don’t want to do dungeon, don’t do WvW and only do certain world events (like the ever popular Shatterer) but refuse to do others (like Claw of Jormag or Megadestroyer) etc, etc and then come here and kitten and while about being poor…
Okay dungeons need 30minute – 1 hour commitment and 4 other people. Fine, I can see that. I myself am not doing as many dungeons recently because I have been busy or simply not in a mood to deal with people outside of my guild. But ganking Dolykes or killing random sentry in WvW does not require you to be in groups and is hardly PvP, specially if you hit and run and avoid enemy players. You can also look-up times of events that are taking place in other worlds and guest in those servers and just do them. You will never, ever convince me that you cannot make 15g within a reasonable amount time just playing the game, picking up everything and selling stuff – either vendoring or TPing. Plus you will earn karma and skill points (used to boost tier 5 mats to tier 6) like this and you can “cash” those in.
Final word, STOP WHINING AND JUST GO PLAY THE BLOODY GAME!
You know, it was highly suspicious the Kiel didn’t fight during Aetherblade dungeon. Rox and Braham always fought! But not Kiel, she’s always outside, safe and sound… can we really trust Kiel? I say, we don’t take the risk and vote into power the real charr of the people!
#teamgnashblade FTW!!!!
Can we please have more Order based quests/events/stuff? I feel that the fact that my character belong to one of the orders of Tyria doesn’t mean much and it should!!!

No, I am sorry no! I will not claim that I have not gotten lucky, I have but the most expensive piece of item that ever dropped for me I never sold. I still have it. What gold I have, I earned the good old fashioned way. Playing the game!
One dungeon run gets you 1G in dungeon completion, trash mob drops (provided you don’t speed clear and miss out on that, that is) and that’s without anything good coming out of the chests. Running around with your severs zerg in WvW also reliably gets you cash from events, caps etc. heck just going around ganking dolyke get’s you money in WvW. You can also use your Karma to play Orrian Jewelbox lottery and get money like that.
Which brings me to my final point. There is no such thing as “blind” lucky! You have to do things to put yourself in a position to get lucky! PS. I just wanted to add I don’t have a warrior. I don’t farm anything and only go into CoF occasionally for tokens to gear-up alts. I just play the game as intended, that’s all.
(edited by Tinni.4351)
I am not sure how Evon is a bad guys. Unless being a capitalist and a business man automatically makes you a bad guys compared to a guardian captain of the Lionguard. If that’s the case, I would like to remind you that Evon is a charr and so probably spent years and years in the legion, fighting his claws out before being discharged and taking the portal to Lion’s Arch and never looking back.
That script is erroneous. Colin apparently endorsed Evon not Kiel.
I am sorry but that makes no economic sense! None!!!!! Especially when you consider my first argument about sticker shock. Do you know why RNG works? Because the individual cost of entering the lottery, usually 125 gems for a key and equivalent for a box, is considered low for a chance at something big: a nice skin that not a lot of people have. I.e. no sticker shock!
RNG works because some are ignorant to put it bluntly. Look at the actual chances and it becomes illogical to consider flushing away your money.
Or they are happy to take the chance as they are with lottery. I mean, you clearly don’t have a problem with RNG because there are people who argue nothing should be behind RNG. Including permanent bank access. What it really comes down to is that you want skins but don’t want to play the lottery for it. That’s fine but please don’t assume you and your friends are statistically significant enough to justify Anet selling these skins directly. Because you are not and I am sure by now they have enough data on RNG and direct skin sales to know what works and what doesn’t.
Untrue. Directly selling skins does benefit the players. Locking them solely behind a pay lottery only benefits ANet at the expense of players. If those same skins were also available for direct purchase then the practice would not be seen as abhorrent as it currently is.
And no. Some of you think it is acceptable. Most of us, however, don’t. Thus, for us, voting against Evon is voting against RNG.
You don’t know much about commerce or economics do you? First of all, no, really no. What’s the fair price for skin? 800 gems? 500 gems? 100 gems? They sold Rox and Braham’s set for 600 gems. 600 gems only! YET some people complained it was priced too high. But pretty much you cannot sell weapons skins directly for more then 500-600 gems. Because any higher and sticker shock will set in. Indeed, for some people even 500 gems is high already.
Secondly, the question becomes how many more people would buy the skins if they were directly available. This is hard to answer without proper metrics but it is a fact that Anet would have to sell a LOT of direct skins to make-up for the revenue lost from not selling RNG boxes because players who would have spend, say $50, buying RNG boxes would only spend, say, $20 or so buying 1-2 skins. A 1000 players spending $50 is $50,000 but at $20 direct purchase of skins 2500 players would have to directly purchase skins. So more then double the amount!
So once again! Vote for Evon – a man who understand commerce and economics, unlike his detractors!
You’re right. It won’t take Evon out or remove the RNG boxes. But it will make our opinion of the practice very clear to ANet. Which we should all do.
Our? You mean yours! I am sorry but I don’t have any problems with RNG. The only message I want to send Anet is simply: the battle of gods vs god better be EPIC!
I’m far from the only one that finds gem store RNG lottery unacceptable. If you find it acceptable, then I feel sorry for you and wish you would stop enabling practices that are bad for the industry.
As far as fractals go, I would prefer Abbadon as well. I just don’t think I can vote for Evon.
Why is it that you anti-RNG folks have such holier then thou attitude when it comes to those of us have no problems buying those boxes? I mean, I don’t know about the rest of the world, but the National Lottery here in the UK does some great work. Lots of arts and research funding, funding to support the preservation of historical sites, museums etc. Likewise, the RNG system supports Anet and thus Tyria.
What harm is there of spending, say, the $20 you would normally spend on monthly fees on keys? I mean, $20 is 1600 gems that equal 19 keys since you can get the 5 keys for 450 gems deal and spend the remaining 250 gems on buying two individual keys. Granted it is a lottery but that’s what’s great about the getting some special out of the chest. You “win” something.
I doubt it hurts the industry. If anything, it’s allowed games like Guild Wars 2 to exist. I mean, nobody is forcing you to play the game of chance if you don’t want to but surely you are going too far when you preach to others how they can spend their hard earned cash. That’s just rude!
You still want to open those scam chests?
It’s only a scam if you’ve convinced yourself that you’re guaranteed something you want.
Exactly! I really, really wish people would stop assuming that we ALL have a problem with RNG. We don’t! But whatever the reason, we don’t all have issues with RNG and thus pegging a vote for Evon to a vote for RNG is not a sound strategy for Kiel supporters.
Not to mention that Evon isn’t forcing anyone to hand their gold over to him! He’s just a Charr providing goods and services that good Tyrian adventurers may or may not choose to purchase. Saying voting against him is a protest vote against RNG is just silly! Evon losing the election will not make the RNG boxes go away! All it will do is take away your chance to witness an epic god vs god battle that changed the face of Tyria forever!!!!
Beside which a vote for Evon is a vote for cats! Everybody loves cats!
What legion was Gnashblade a part of when he was part of a warband? If he was ever part of a warband to begin with. This should tell you alot about his character. Do we really want a lowly gladium on the ships council now? What sort of message would that send to the rest of Tyria?
Let as assume for a moment, that Gnashblade is a gladium (which he is not) and answer the question “what sort of message would that send to the rest of Tyria?”. The message, my fellow adventurers, that will ring loud and clear should Gnashblade be elected is that we are not trapped by the circumstances of our birth and Lion’s Arch is a city were everybody can made it! Whether you be a gladium outcast of the Black Citadel, matters not in the city where commerce beats combat.
Vote Evon Gnashblade! The only choice for the city built on commerce!
We can’t assume. We can, however, hope that they won’t tease us with two and only ever deliver one.
You should stop hoping that. It’s not a true choice unless you give something up. I mean, that’s probably why they are saying they will build from scratch the new fractal based on the choice. Go with Abaddon, kiss goodbye reactor and I am okay with that. Because then more permanent choice and better IMO.
Nope. Won’t stop hoping. :P
Remember. This isn’t an individual choice. It is up to the masses. You just gotta hope the masses agree with you to get the option you would prefer.
Both are very tempting options. Saying ‘you will never know what the other option would have been’ is quite cruel to lore-fiends.
I personally prefer Kiel on the council, but I would prefer to see the fall of Abbadon. So no matter what I choose, I cannot win.
But right there is why this is a great living story episode. It is cruel to lore-fiends, thus making it an actual choice. A choice that actually “costs” something meaningful. Also the fact that you are in a no win situation is also a good thing because that’s the reality of choice. Our choices aren’t perfect. Often its the lesser of two evils or most appealing of two situations etc, etc.
Still, I have nothing against hoping until the hope turns into unreasonable demand and the Q.Q starts. So I guess what I should say is that hope all you want but remember Anet has only promised that the Fractal promised by the winning candidate will be implemented. I.e. don’t rage at Anet just because your hopes of both Fractals being implemented eventually never comes to fruition because that was just your hope, nothing more.
New fractal if you give “Kiel/ Evon” your vote. Nice.
Special Discount on goods or travel. Interesting.
Special Bonuses for pvp/wvw players if you……oh wait, there isn’t.Why play style discrimination. Do are votes not matter. We play this game too.
There was so much potential here for deciding things such as the next piece of siege equipment to be released in wvw and/ or wvw trait line released and for pvp mabie the next map released. id love to here the thoughts and ideas of my fellow player base on this topic. Discuss.
Well I don’t think PvP and WvW player WILL be voting period, which is why they didn’t get anything. To get support for your chosen candidates, you have to do PvE content. Lots and lots of PvE content. Doing PvP or WvW does not get you support tokens or whatever that you have to hand in to show your support for your chosen candidate. Hardcore WvW players and PvPers are unlikely to spend substantial amount of time doing PvE to support one candidate another. So yeah, I don’t think it matter one way or another.
Can’t we assume that the “losing” Fractal will still end up in the game, just delayed by a few months since the dev teams will be focusing on the “winner” instead?
No, we cant. No dev has stated or indicated that this will be the case.
The cake is a lie
Vote Gnashblade and the cake won’t be a lie! Gnashblade knows how to take care of those who support him and his business. He gave me a kite and before that, free holo pets! All because I have been a loyal customer of his many goods and services. Like extra character slot, bank expansions, bag expansion, town cloth etc, etc. Evon Gnashblade, with him that cake is never a lie! It might have an extremely low drop rate and you may have to pay $100+ RL money to get it but its not lie!
I understand making only one due to time-constraints.
Actually they’re only making one because players keep saying that we want our own decisions to actually impact the game rather than giving us the illusion of impacting the game.
Well then they’ve failed in implementation as by attaching certain rewards that are almost assuring a landslide in a certain direction they are practically guaranteeing the outcome. That is the very definition of illusion of choice.
That’s not really fair. Lots of people do not do fractals, have never set foot inside a fractal because the cost of getting into fractals is too high. Fractal 1-10 is actually harder to do in PuGs then higher level fractals. Besides which, a lot of people have no interest in even normal dungeons, forget about Fractals! Only the Fractal runners will be voting according to their Fractal preferences. The normal world PvEers are more likely to vote for WP cost reduction because that’s what matters to them but if you are doing a fair amount of PvE, you are unlikely to be really thinking about WP costs because let’s face it, most of the time you can make-up the WP costs by killing the first random mob you see. But some people will vote for reduced BL key costs because they do buy keys. There is also the Human vs Charr thing. So I don’t really see any of the rewards being the “decider”.
So what it really comes down it is which group is more dedicated/active during the next expansion period. I.e people can talk Kiel or Evon but are they actually going to work for their candidate? Whoever has the most motivated supporters is the one who is going to win. It’s as simple as that.

So both candidates are promising the same thing in relation to mini-games?
Evon: I’ll host a rotation of popular activities like Crab Toss and Southsun Survival.
Kiel: I’ll introduce a rotating schedule of activities such as Crab Toss and Southsun Survival.
This is from the official site.
That’s kind of lame IMO.
While I have much love and respect for Kiel, there’s no way she’s going to win. I had planned on giving all my votes to her… up until Evon promised discounted Black Lion Keys.
You do know the discounts are TEMPORARY, right? 4 weeks and then it’s over.
That’s why keys make better sense. Buy keys now, horde for when the BL gets new goods! You can’t store WP discounts for later use!
Kiel resorts to smearing Evon because of his ties to the consortium. But I ask you, how many players have benefited from Evon’s dealing with the consortium? Do you have a consortium harvesting sickle? Are you ogling Kasmeer in a bathing suit?
If so, you know that all Evon’s dealing are just so us players can have access to great consortium merchandise without having to deal with the consortium direct. Because I for one would rather face Zaitan by myself then walk into a Consortium store with a full bag of coins.
Evon, he’ll sleep with Krait to bring you items you want and need!
It is clear that GW1 players will vote for Abaddon, while GW2 players can’t relate and will vote for the fall of RNG boxes (what i too would do), so Kiel.
And since it is GW2, it’s completely unfair to have a race between the 2 group of players.
GW2 players will vote for a kittenty reactor explosion over a God’s fall..
You are forgetting that a lot of GW 1 player, especially those whose favourite campaign was prophecies, still hate and loath the Charr. So they are unlikely to vote for Gnasblade simply because he’s a Charr.
Me? I am a GW 1 player who grew to despise Prophecies but loved Factions and Nightfall. I also never got attached to Ascalon quite the same way as some other GW 1 players did. While I do not play a Charr in GW 2 I have nothing against the Charrs. I have also been lucky with RNG AND I am a Fractal runner. So I will vote according to which Fractal I want to play and I want to play fall of Abaddon. I mean, who knows, in the Abaddon fractal you might actually become the five gods and use their godly skills to fight Abaddon. Wouldn’t that be cool!
Lucky for me, I got the lightening kite. Which was lucky because I had a lightening catcher to match it with!!!!
It’s times like this that you must ask yourself, who would Tybalt vote for! I say he would vote for great prices on Black Lion Keys and the opportunity to kick Abandoner’s butt!
Burnished Steel works well too, but I don’t know what it’s going for.
Less then a silver and Fluffy is coming down too. So the market is settling, which is good.
I used to be a monk, nuff said.
Seriously, I have no idea. Back during the beta weekend I tried a lot of the classes. Only class I didn’t try (and still don’t have) is warrior. Guardian was the last class tried and it just made me go “Yep, this is it. This is the class for me”, which is odd because generally I avoid melee like the plague! But there is something about running around with hammer and sending people flying while being all “here, have healz” that makes it all awesome!
And the price of Fluff dye goes through the roof!
I don’t know. I mean, I am replacing my guardians gear with Zenith skins because she was my first character and apart from the two fractal weapon skins, her weapons were pretty boring (mystic claymore, ghastly staff, molten hammer). Plus I think the Zenith skins go will with the whole Guardian thing.
However, most of my other characters will not be switching to the Zenith skins. Mostly because, apart from my ranger whose axe skin leaves much to be desired, I am happy with the skins I have and see no need to replace them OR have other skins I would like. For my ranger, for example, I would like the Fractal axe skin.
So no, I don’t think it will break anything. Zenith is great but people get bored of weapon skins pretty quickly and the last thing they want is the same skin on all their characters.
Could you please sell Mai’s weapon set on the Gem Store as you did with Rox and Braham’s weapons? I am sure a lot of people want that rapier and steam pistol.
Thieves have been yoinking people off walls since WvW began. I don’t see scorpion wire being featured prominently in PvP.
Scorpian wire like the necro grasp is a utility and frankly, for most circumstance, there are better utility skills that can go into those slots. However, off-hand axe is not just about the pull. The pull is an added bonus, which is why I think it has potential. But as I said, I haven’t sPvP for sometime and so I could be very, very wrong.
This is the most insulting thread in the entire forums.
Here is what you sound like
“So what if if they did massive nerfs to the weakest class in the game and killed all of our builds while only adding tidbits here and there, stop being cry babies and be pro like me and only play PvP/WvWvW with this cookie cutter build that is even more cookie cutter because you no longer have a pet choice’.
WEAKEST CLASS IN THE GAME??? Umm… have you met engineers, thieves, necromancer and hell even eles? And weak in what context exactly? Here are the aspects of the game,
Open World PvE: Ranger have always owned this playing field. I can do stuff on my ranger that I can only dream off on my engi, thief, ele, necro. None of the changes will make rangers any less effective in open world PvE. Including shortbow range nerf.
Dungeon PvE: Rangers have some issues but please go ask a thief how much love they get in dungeons or even a necro or engineer.
WvW: I just spent the last hour and a half (on engi and necro) watching rangers still own in WvW. So you will not convince me one bit that rangers somehow are no longer viable in WvW
sPvP/tPvP: I don’t sPvP much so I don’t know what the scene is like but I do know that I saw ZERO warriors during the Twitch TV broadcast of the tPvP tournaments a while back. But there were some rangers. Maybe the changes will bring more ranger or less rangers, I don’t know. But I very much doubt rangers are going to disappear from sPvP.
In conclusion, weakest class in-game my kitten The title of kick-kitten class will always belong to Guardians who do well in open world PvE, dungeons, WvW and sPvP. But rangers are far, FAR from the weakest class in any aspect of the game.
