nothing new in that post, everybody knows that spvp in GW2 sucks, that’s why the mists are so empty, but i’ll give you 1/10 because of the lenght of your post.
I would strongly wish to see a testserver to test upcoming builds before they go live, so we don’t have people exploiting stuff every time a new build is available.
Yes, GW2 wanted to become an e-sports title and failed hard at that, will see what the future brings but i can’t imagine the GW2 battlegrounds becoming popular in the e-sports community, arena or dota-mode would have a far better success.
I agree, half of the GS look more like Warhammers because of how broad they are, a shame because those swords would look great if they would have a normal size.
It would be great if you could turn on/off team colors for yourself so you don’t just see red/blue people running around in WvW and SPvP.
so what about WvW, SPvP, any changes incoming that could drag back all the lost players?
seriously, i have never seen a more rude company running a mmo, no patchnotes before the patch go live so players can prepare themselfes, no testservers to prevent exploits and buggs, no warning when the server is restarting,…
nooo, please don’t nerve thief dps and buff their other stats for that, burstdamage thiefs are too predictable, love farming them, don’t take that from me
I just hope it’s arena and dota mode for pvp.
I couldn’t agree more with the OP, a company using facebook and twitter instead of their own forums to announce news and changes is pretty weak.
Why not use facebook? P R I V A C Y
It’s much more skill based in 1v1 or 2v2 compared with games like wow, however with 3v3 or more it’s just an aoe spammgame, no skill involved, unlike wow which is more skill based in larger scale battles compared with GW2, aoe’s in this game are just too powerfull.
The downed state is just an extension of the lifebar, downing people does not mean beating them.
And the point of that change, guilds can still transfer to a new server with every new matchup, i realy wonder if anet actualy considers anything through before dooing it.
nb. 5: best kittening idea somebody had on these forums
- auto respawn people who are liying around dead for more then a minute, waiting endlessly for someone to rezz them because they don’t wanna run
The problems aren’t some asians/oceanians, the problem is that you folks are too concentrated on some servers, restricting the playernumbers wouldn’t affect you, you would just have to divide yourselfes equaly throughout the servers (like we europeans and americans are forced to do if we don’t want to wait hours in a queue at our prime time) and thereby wouldn’t have a queue.
16k health only? outch :/ do you have anything that takes falling damage away, a combatjump, a teleport,… ?
there are small platforms in between the levels you can jump to
according to the eventpage it’s the only thing
And there we are, 8/8 classes have done it solo, so it’s deffinatly not about OP classes
I don’t see how anyone could have soloed this … took 5 of us a bit of time to finally get him down. Guess it shows how much stronger some classes are compared to others.
Well, by now 7/8 classes on this thread have posted that they have soloed him, so it’s not about overpowered classes but bad players i guess :P
do you get upscaled to 80 nyaru?
I did it at 19:27 GMT, 80 guardian, anyone been faster?
here the pics:

I strongly doubt that only 5% of the playerbase completed the tower, i think it’s more like 10% in under 30min, 50% in under 2 hours, 30% in under 6 hours, 5% in under 12 hours and that there are only 5% who can’t do it.
actualy it’s too less running, there is no point in dieing if you can just teleport back to where you died.
Simply said, it misses rewarding endgame content.
Pve: too complicated reward system for dungeons, too many badges, no dungeon finder, too much work to get into a dungeon, armorsets and weapons look like they have been designed by 8 year olds.
SPvP: no leaderbords, too much pve involved, too much fluffy maps
WvW: pointless, nightcapping, not enough rewards, badge-system without sense, commander’s are the ones who can afford 100g and not those who have acomplished something in WvW, orbs destroy the balance even more,…
Basic mmo-features missing: dueling, inspect other players, sit on chairs ingame, mounts, ingame itemdatabase,…
Did it several times, epic = golden-items for me, don’t like a-net giving every thing a new name, thinking long time mmo players will stick to those new ones after spending years with buffs/debuffs/epics,…
And yes it’s easy, anyone who doesn’t have parkison can do it.
you get epic boots in the end for dooing an easy jumping puzzle that takes 1min to complete, of course it is worth it…
working as intended according to a-net.
Actualy the clock tower is way too slow and the way where to jump is too obvious, it’s easyer then most of the other jumping puzzles. I needed 2 hours for the jumping puzzle in the eternal battlegrounds the first time, now i do it in under 9 minutes.
The clock tower however only took me ~15 minutes the first time, nerf it even a bit and there is no point to it especialy because it awards you with epic boots at the end.
There would be such an easy way to fix WvW and anet doesn’t seem to give a kitten about loosing so many players, just add asian/oceanic servers, regionlock WvW and restrict the number of players in WvW based on the number the lowest populated server has in the maps.
*Playing out manned 5 to 50 is fun
*Losing everything upgraded and build during the day is fun
*Not being able to play WvW after 3:00 am is fun
*Having biased scoring because of night capping is funSigned,
Anet.
This is so so true.
couldn’t agree more, a shame how they are killing the game with bad design decitions, maybe it’s funcom who is forcing a-net dooing this, so GW2 will loose players which then will buy the next mmo funcom releases.
@Tito- Then it simply requires more effort. How do winning servers do it? It’s not impossible.
Or rather
“waaaah, they’re playing different times than me in a 24/7 battle. They MUST BE BOOOTED”
The oceanic players have organized themselfes on some servers even before GW2 launched, as have the Rp’ers, the south americans,… you just can’t persuade them to change servers now.
The situation right now in WvW is just frustating for both the winning and the loosing side, there is no skill/tactics involved and therefore no challenge that makes fun.
Like i already said, the only solution to the problem are asian/oceanic servers and free character-transfers to those.
@hunTShoo – Then it’s the responsibility of the server with no night coverage to plan and strategize and recruit oceanic/night players.
OK, how? Oceanic players don’t grow on trees.
Oceanic/Asian players need their own servers, that’s the only solution to the nightcapping issue without enforcing strict playernumber locks in WvW.
Hi Everyone,
All is fair in love and war – and as love, WvW is a battlefield.
There are exploits, I’ll give you that – but then there is coordinated effort to ensure your world or your team uses each and every resource they have to their advantage.War is not fair, war is not pretty, war gets out the worst in us – and the best – and even if we have excluded open world pvp from the rest of the game, this is exactly what happens on the WvW maps: It is the ‘playground’ for strategists and great tacticians, it is the place for coordinated efforts and mean ideas in the middle of the night.
Night capping is one of those valid tactics to score some points in a lasting battle – to get your world the upper hand, or cancel out daytime supremacy by another well coordinated opponent.
As Guild Wars 2 will progress in time, so will world vs. world and core gameplay mechanics. But for now, night capping is one valid possibility to ruin your enemie’s days – pun intended.
Night capping is an issue and it's ruining the fun for everyone involved
in WvW

WvW is broken at the core, there were several ways to prevent WvW turning into this farce, anet unfortunately didn’t choose anyone of them, which is now resulting in the massive loss of players (GW2 isn’t even among the top10 streamed games anymore).
Sorry fanboys but dee jay has a valid point, though limiting playernumbers would only be one way to prevent nightcapping.
The best thing a-net could have done would have been to make WvW much much larger, so it wouldn’t be possible to capture all castles over a night, unfortunatly they decided to design the WvW maps for the WoW-generation who isn’t familiar with running more then 3min to get to the action.

I didnt rush to 80, you would know that if you read my thread.I was replying to someone who asked what a “real RPG game” was, not really replying to the OP.
All I can suggest is, create a new character, and PLAY the game. By play I mean, go screw around and have fun. I have 7 characters total, and they’re all in the 20 to 40 level range. I also play about 5 hours a day (which honestly is way too much), and I have yet to get close to level cap.
This isn’t that game where you
playwork in it with objectives to complete and tasks to accomplish in the most timely and proficient manner. That type of playstyle isn’t compatible with this game.
wrong, GW2 isn’t a sandbox game where you can discover new things each time you visit a new zone, it’s still a themepark mmo like wow/rift/swtor,… but it manages to hide the grind better then former themepark mmos. GW2 has clearly objectives which are farm sets/farm legendary weapons/ farm xxx, the only part of GW2 that has sandbox elements is WvW and that is right now completly broken because of the undynamical adjustments of playernumbers, resulting in hour long queues at peak-times and nightcaping.
Actualy swtor had more enjoying endgame content at release compared to GW2, because bioware actualy had a real beta where they let people test the dungeons out, so they weren’t broken at release.
I also thought that RP-servers should be handled by the community and not the developer but then i played on piken square, seriously the tickets you get from non-rp’ers and rp’ers complaining and flaming each other can’t be more then an official rp-server would create.
There is a lot of frustation for non-rp’ers who roll on unofficial rp-servers, build up their guilds there and then discover that rp’ers have completly different objectives in the game and don’t care that much about “progress” and “winning”, forcing those people who care to switch servers and loose their guildprogress in the process, leads to frustation which is the most dangerous thing for a mmo.
So it took you 3 hours and 10 minutes to figure out that something is broken?
Regina, small word from a german native speaker: “Liebsche” is not a word in our language. What you’re probably talking about is Liebchen – I dunno if that word was spelt wrong when the forums were set up, or whether it’s intended to be like that, but I can tell you the word filter wreaks havoc on a lot of german words that are completely harmless just because they contain some letters that slightly resemble (after replacing some letters like k->c) a bad word in english.
Martin (German Community Manager and ArenaNet Head of Community) told me this: ‘Liebchen’ is the “regular” German form, ‘Liebsche’ is “Mundart” (dialect).
:)
As someone who has studied german and knows about the different dialects, liebsche is only known in very specific regions, most german speaking people haven’t heard that word ever before, you could also put some chinese or japanese symbols there instead.
wow i never saw something like this, just report him, i’m sure that some a-net gm will have fun banning those 2 guys.
It’s usualy 3 hits = dead in LARP, however those russian guys seem to be fighting till they are seriously injured or exhausted ^^
rp in russia, some serious kitten, with sharp weapons:
yeah for those who don’t know it, rp’ers in the woods
Just to clarify it, the whole discussion here will not have any consensus, you can’t force people to do something your way and neither can they force you to do it their way, the fault is only on a-net’s side for not launching an official rp-server.
The only thing that people can do is not to play on piken-square if they don’t want to do RP or want a WvW where it is about winning, there are around 27 eu-servers i think that aren’t any kind of “unofficial rp-server”, it’s only piken square.
(edited by Tito.3270)
GW2 is a mmorpg, right? A mmo is about what people make out of the system, there is no “do it this way or don’t do it”. If people want to chase a cat in WvW then it’s their right to do so, i’m sure they are not trying to bann you out of WvW because you are fighting people around them while there is a cat that has to be rescued.
If A-net doesn’t want WvW to be a rp-zone then they have to clarify it, but if they do that then the term mmorpg doesn’t fit for GW2, neither the mmo which stands for “here is a world, do whatever kitten you like in it if the game mechanics allow it” nor the rpg “role playing game”.
RP is not griefing, start reporting players for dooing RP and anet will bann you for missusing the system. If you want to bann people from WvW because they are dooing RP there then you can also start banning bad players, anybody who doesn’t listen to the selfproclaimed high marshall and follows the tactic.
There are a lot of servers for GW2, only piken square has been proclaimed as an unoficial rp-server and it’s full of rpers, if you don’t like it just switch the server, you won’t be able to make the majority of a server move away or have a good time there if you don’t care about RP.
