I dont think that thief was doing it right. 200dmg is the average of like 3 bleed stacks ticking.

So the thief was either playing it wrong, or you were playing your cards right and didnt chased the thief at melee range

On a melee character that tries to spike me down 10s is more than enough time to fill him with enough bleed stacks to make him take 2-2.5k dmg ticks

Range dps however, and traps, specially traps and any floor skill can melt this build in seconds.

Range dps can still be baten if you manage to catch up. But trap dh, staff necros, wells chronos and trap rangers that know what theyre doing will kill you

Still is a pretty fun and powerfull build to play if you are tired of the more squishy thief builds. You can do yolo jumps with confident

As an additional note worth mentioning that this is not a spiking build, is about surviving and wearing out the opponent. So if what youre looking is a build for spiking down in like 5s you better try using staff with soldier stats and DD runes instead. The guarented crit.on dodge make bound/vault a nice spike combo. And soldier stats give you a nice survability

no one gave opinions so i made a leap of faith and bought the soldier gear, using amulet and berserker rings (mostly because the lack of g )

and im having a blast with the build in pve, even with the lack of presicion i reach 44% crit chance with presicion signet and sigil of accuracy, and thats not counting the 7% extra crit from traits. the 6/6 bonus of DD runes allow for a pretty nice burst by bound jumping into a enemy for 4k crit then vault for 7k crit, then autoattacking for 3k hits or weaking charge trough and away from enemy and repeat the bound/vault combo
and when range is needed i switch to p/p with unload dealing 7-10k each full chanell. the survavility is also pretty nice, 18k hp and 2.7k armor

loving this build for pve atm now just need to massively farm maguuma to get the ascended Bo staff

basically is just as you say, spaming DB lotus dodge, keeping steal and weapon swap on CD to infinite ini/end, while healing a lot and removing conditions. pretty nice build to slaughter melee or berserker players

its main weakness though are field like attacks like necro wells or ranger/dh traps since you lack the toughness from dire stats

it has been there since gw1, and all we know is that (in gw1) one dude tried to get into it and the player stoped him. and in gw2 that there is a wizard living there that relocated it to its current location above the sea. Provides grumpy elementals as guardians and servants (angry elementals that seem to do this without their own accord) and that some times women get called to the tower and they never come back

its pretty awesomely done building in gw2 compared to its gw1 sister to just be decoration imo

D/D deathblossom spam condi thieves are slowly becoming a thing in soloQ.

That is a very unreliable way to avoid damage i tried it once and its just horrible

Thats why anet increase the evade frames recently, now when combined with lotus dodge and SoM you are.practically untouchable to all but field skills like traps and wells (wich pretty much will melt you because of the lack of dire stats on spvp a heavy hit that manage to get trough the evade will hurt, and badly)

With 2 elder dragons gone, wich one you think will be the next one?

My guess is Primordius, since he was the last one to awake (first one my bad) and there is a whole lot of research of him being studied by Taimi at the moment, maybe in all that research they discover his weak point

Sure Jormag is a good guess too, maybe the hero will want to aid the norns now to beat him as a repayment for the lost of Eir

Or the legazy of Glint will want to take revenge to the dragon that killed his mother

My reaction to Mordremoth from the story: Game sucks, isn’t even an elder dragon.
My reaction to Mouth of Mordremoth: Holy kitten this is awesome, best game ever!

What I want to know is if you are an all powerful, giant serpent dragon why you would choose to see yourself as Barney the Dinosaur’s creepy uncle in your own mind.

Just theorizing here, but my guess is that the mind pools you opened on his mind previously to that encounter weakened his mind so much that that avatar was the best he could create. Maybe thats the reason why he keep summoning hero copies to aid him since he knew that form alone wouldnt be strong enough to defeat the player (this is strenghed by the way his summons buff him when under his control)

At the culminating part of the story is revealed that Mordremorth roots have extended so much that he has basically becomes the whole jungle, is even confirmed (by Faolan or Trahearne’s forgot wich) that all the pact/players walking on on the jungle are like fleas walking.on a dog’s back, with mordremorth being that dog, so it was imposible to physically kill him. In fact, in the first map if you jump down to the lowest ground posible you can see.that.is.filled by giant vines that pulsate like veins. the only way was to strike his mind down.

One would ve though that atleast he would have make a more impresive mind avatar to fight you, gotta admit though, chubby and all, he was agile (that claw swipe barrage)

Ive been using a condi bunker condi thief build that basically is just about spaming death blosson and lotus dodge, with acro/trick/DD and energy sigils you have infinite ini/end to spend as long as you keep steal and weapon swap on cd, and just by dodgeing you are: applying conditions, removing conditions, evading (duh) and healing (I found this shatter power chrono that though he was too impresive sending me a billion of illusions constantly, and me just lazily dodgeing his shatters and massively healing at the same time due the great ammount of targets to synergy with SoM, felt just like Neo fighting the Smith’s army)

Main weakness as mentioned about though are fields type if dmg like traps or necro wells, those melt you, but if one, or even 2 berserker geared ppl try to jump on me and spike ne they’re on for a nasty surprise

Hello, having gone trough hot content using a evasive d/d condi build i wanted to have a more offensive build for core game but not very squishy

First of all, the original idea of this build came after seeing this vid https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=WfCexwQszS0

Now i know the thief he killed was a zerker and lowhp class hence the ownage, but I still think the dmg was pretty decent and soldier stats give it a decent survability

What are you talking about? Mordremoth so totally has a mouth. You even fight against it.

Also, I wouldn’t call the skies above Arah “confined”. (lots of stuff wrong with that fight, but scale was not one of those things)

I’ll rephrase since you;re right. The direct interaction is confined since you are involved only on the final cannon phase.

I have seen no mouth or body at all in the story. Is that part of the map meta I hear about? I’ve seen no one doing it yet so I haven’t been a part of that.


Yes it’s part of the meta event in Dragon’s Stand. Mordremoth’s body is the Jungle because Elder Dragon’s are supposed to be a force of nature. Being literally the whole Maguuma Jungle is infact being a force of nature.

Kralkatorrik literally became a sandstorm in the Edge of Destiny book so Mordremoth literally being a Jungle with a Dragon head attached rather than an ordinary Dragon isn’t surprising.

can someone explain, in a spoiler tag if you want, whats the meta on Dragon Stand about?

i really hope the HoT history content doesnt end there and somehow too more deep when raids release, because tbh that abrupt ending cinematic was really dissapointing. like if personal story would end right after Zaithan fell to the abyss and we were sent to the open world just like that

seriusly, after spending like 3 hours trying to kill him i gave up. i really dont know how people has managed to defeat him, is bug after buf after bug:

-some times the pools you are suppose to activate appear in mid air
- other times even chaneling fully do nothing
- other times when you are supposed to glide you arent launched into the air as you´re supposed to
- once on air if you get hit some times you cannot get back up or the updraft dont work
- some times the glider doesnt even open

great way to kill my hype carbine, i reached this part all exited to finish it after the epic previous missions, then what was supposed to be an epic battle became an extremely anoying imposible to finish one

but sacrificing a little condition damage from the venom, bursting sigil in and bewildering ambush in favor of more endurance/initiative regen with energy sigils and quick pockets with double dagger swap in order to be able to spam lotus and death blossom non endesly, easily achieving perma 30+ bleed stacks and 10+ poison stacks on enemy while dodgeing 90% of the time

tried on spvp with carrion stats (due to the lack of dire stats on the mist) and performs pretty great agaisnt melee classes, its biggest counters being hard ground targeted aoes like traps/wells or heavy range spike

i was wondering this too, im starting to get low on g for the countless of waypointing around for the legendary journey, and knowing that i will have to spend a lot more to actually craft it

the “easy” casual way before was to simple do the fast path dungeons, you could do like 10g in a little around a hour

whats the casual way now to farm g that doesnt involve trying to find an event train in SW?

probable has been suggested before, but with HoT i though it was worth to remind it

people usually used to have their usual zerker armor and build for core game content, and an additional armor and trait choice for WvW.

however HoT broke the zerk meta and made people having to rethink their builds once more

with so many builds and different gear for each content is tedious to be changing it every moment that you decide to play a different content (core,hot,wvw).

so my suggestion was to implement a system that allows to “save” 1 or 2 armor set alongside 3 specs choice, so when you select one of said sets it would automatically change your gear (or the pieces of it if you removed one from your inventory) and specialization choices to the ones from the saved set.

Trick for soloing some hero challenges

If you use shadow refuge, you can capture the point and not aggro any of the enemies. You will be in stealth long enough to get the point and escape.

Of course, this won’t work for the challenges that require fighting a champion to get the point, but I thought I would share this for any of my fellow thieves to make the grind to DD a little easier.

This won’t work in some HP where it requires you to have met a certain mastery level (like that HP in a poison cloud). Also there are HP where you cannot even interact without meeting a certain mastery level.

So yeah, use this trick where applicable.

Actually, that poison close hp, the point itself isnt inside the cloud, so if you blink directly into it or glide on it you can pop sr and get it. Thats how i did it

You’re probably talking about a different one because the one I’m talking about is inside a cave filled with poison cloud.

aaah if you mean the one at the second map then, where you have to endure the meat for 1 min, there is also a 2 ways to do it without masteries

1: if you are a low hp class like thief unequip everything to be at your lowest, use a regeneration booster and a mango pie, quickly go down, pick the meat and go back up, once your hp gets full again (thanks to the pie and booster) consume the meat, since the regen from the buff is a flat amount and the dmg you recive is %, you will have enough regen to wait heal the dmg and survive the minute

1: same as above, but have a chrono friend to stack alacry on you so the heal recharges faster

Ultimately, Daredevil isn't that bad.

I used a similar build with trick/acrobatic/DD but with dire stats and d/d, using impaling lotus and energy sigils and krait runes. The synergy with death blosson and lotus is awesome, steal recharging end and ini and weapon swap even more end, you never.run out of ini/end, easily stay above 30+ bleed stacks, very hard to get hit since.you are evading all the time and even if you do the dire stats and amazing synergy of SoM with lotus and blosson keep you altmost always on full hp

To everyone who is having trouble just roaming the world:

PLAY A MORE DEFENSIVE BUILD

I’m sure this isn’t the case for everyone, but I be the majority of the people having trouble are stuck in the glass cannon mentality. If you do this, you will get one-shot by a large variety of mobs. Take a couple defensive skills, maybe mix in some extra HP with your gear. I personally haven’t been having too much issue running around full Zerker, but I’m playing Revenant, a class with lots of evades and one that uses heavy armor.

Seriously, killing the mobs faster isn’t worth it if you die before striking the finishing blow. I’m sure you’ll have more fun if you gear yourself more defensively.

This. I tried to tackle maguma with my old meta zerker thief and I keep being slaughtered. Changed to a evasión style condition build with dire stats and d/d and now is me the one that slaughter every vet and elite that stands on my way. Cant wait to unlock impaling lotus to increase my condi stacking even more

Please don't make condi DPS obsolete in PvE

On the flip side, condi damage is fully effective on bosses who are resistant to physical damage while the break bar isn’t broken.

Haven’t seen any of these as far as I can tell. Any examples?

Still doesn’t change the fact that the meta is going to be might stacking+cc and then a power burst if condis don’t get a damage bonus from break bars too.

The meta “will” require condition dmg

Hes talking about the raid bosses, those of us that could log that brieft morning to test them discovered that the new “class trinity” is: raw dmg, condition dmg, healer(ventari reve,druid,water tempest)

The second boss in that little piece of raid was highly resistant to normal dmg, and the last one swapped his resistance every now and then

its not supposed to be cheap

the mystic forge method is a big gamble and buying it off the tp requires a massive amount of gold that is just daunting to many people.

the collection method of getting a precursor allows us to just pick a thing each day if we wanted and do that and see meaningful progress being made towards reaching our goal.

the choice is yours of how you want to go about it of course but i think it is wrong to cry oh this is bad because its not cheap or easy.

exactly, i think that comparing the “price” of getting the precursor this way or the mystic forge way is losing the point behind the mastery completely, the idea is that you could chose

1: gamble/buy the precursor, if you decide to test your luck with the rng system and geat it easier, or longer depends on your luck

2: “or” find the collection items “yourself” and see a slow, but cheaper and sure progress toward your goal

me personally, as someone who enjoyed completing the maps on my main i love to have an excuse to explore them again and feel that im progressing

But sinister engineer need to attack to apply his condis, leaving very vulnerable to retribution due sinister stats, remember jumping into a raid with no defensive stats isnt viable anymore. Wharever dire DD apply his by perma evading around the boss with death blosson and lotus training, barely if ever getting hit, taking very little dmg even if hit, and healing back to full instantly due the synergy from traits and death blosson/lotus with SoM

thiefs are also pretty good condition dmgers, this SS was taken on my HoT beta daredevil on a elite spider, and note i didnt even had food buff, the couple of times i managed to do raid i got the dmg ticks up to 6k but unfortunally couldnt take a screenshot of the chat screen that time, the daredevil trait line brought a pretty nice upgrade on condition and survability to the evasion condi thief build

and btw, lol, axe/torch rangers are amazing bleed and burn stackers too

from what i could see:

-berserker for core game
-non berserker dmg and/or condition dmg for HoT and raids
-wvw
- healing power gear for raid (if you are druid or ventari reve)

for me personally, i dont like the staff, but i never liked power builds too much anyway.

now condi d/d is a difference story; the daredevil trait line brough an incredible upgrade to the trickery/acrobatic evasion condi d/d thief in the form of lotus training, escapist absolution, endurance thief and driven fortitude

with it and sigils of energy perma evasion trough death blossom and impaling lotus is posible, plus bleed stacks of 30 and above are extremely easy to achieve, with dire stats you have an amazing survavility, and even if a few hits get trough dodge the synergy of driven fortitude with assassin reward and SoM is amazing and will get you back to full health instantly, besides being a build that works perfectly in both hot and wvw (works too in spvp but with less survavility due to the lack of dire stats)

in the condi department DD is a solid choice, and since arenanet new class trinity for raids now includes condition dps they will have a nice spot as bleed and poison stackers.

what it really needs is a toggle buttom that allows you to exchange your new dodges because Dash is a extremely good tool too for roaming and moving around

I finally went and tried all the new elite specs, and DrD seems to be the weakest in terms of cool effects / skills / mechanics. As others have said above, I feel like DrD is going to be really fun for PvP, but in PvE, I don’t know if it has a place because it really doesn’t seem like there is a focus for what role this class should play.

it seems the “class trinity” that arenanet brough isnt the usual dps,tank,healer, but from what could be tested today more like; raw dmg, condition dmg, support(aka druid, ventari reve)

condi daredevil currently success greatly at the condition dmg department and since condi dmgers will be needed in raid they have a nice place secured

tried testing the build in spvp, unfortunally since there arent dire stats in spvp i had to try with carrion stats

even with the lack of toughness i ended up quite impressed with the results, i used your suggestion pope and try using runes of mad king but for some reason i found the crows not spawing many ticks of SoM and know the reason of your selection of deadly arts and poison over bleed but i decided to stick with acrobatic since i wanted to retain the vigor enhancement and extra healing since the survavility and damage of the build comes mostly from the combination of dire and your ability to keep perma evasion and SoM ticks

said that, tried the build in sPvP but using carrion stats because of the lack of dire and honestly i was quite surprised, i had very nice results on 1v1 combat, in fact the only one i lost was because i failed to notice the cannon attack in skyhammer wich took most of my hp in a single hit. its gameplay is very similar to d/d elementalist because you are dancing around your enemy while doing dmg at the same time, the stacking is huge, even agaisnt cleanse you still reapply the conditions way faster than they can cleanse it, managed to beat 1v1 a celestial ele and pu condi mesmer and something i actually didnt foreseen, the condi removal is actually very decent thanks to escapist absolution

the main counters i could see were heavy range spikes with cc, and heavy aoe dmg, getting caught in a heavy spike with inmobilize is specially dangerous.

outside pvp i tried to use it vs several HoT enemies, found a pretty nice spot that spawns several veteran spiders and a single elite one and manage without problems to condi down the whole of them

here is a small SS of the condi dmg on the spider and thats without food buff

Note: this is a Daredevil build tried to do a condition dmg build for using death blossong and impaling lotus, the result was decent but the survavility was hideous, tried using full dire gear and a double set of daggers and the result was quite impresive

so after some tweak i present the double d/d set Dancing death lotus build

pros:
-very high endurance and initiative regeneration thanks to sigil of energy, kleptomaniac, quick pockets, endless stamina, feline grace and endurance thief
- very high aoe bleed and torment application via death blossom, impaling lotus and uncatchable
-massive survavility thanks to dire stats and very fast passive healing with signet of malice, driven fortitude, assassin reward
-decent swift uptime with expeditious dodger

cons

-heavy CC
-heavy conditions
- condi inmmune enemies (90% of your dmg comes from torment and bleed)
- lack of range weapon (because death bloosom is needed to do 50% of the dmg, so double dagger is mandatory, swapping only to trigger sigil of energy)

the gameplay is extremely easy and fun: the main damage source comes from “dancing”, in other words massive aoe apply of torment and bleeding trough impaling lotus, death blossom and uncatchable, applying very high stacks of both (specially bleeding) on multiple enemies, it shines specially on long battles where the stacks of bleeds can easily go above the 30 stacks (36 was my biggest count agaisnt the mordrem rider at the end of the story mission)

starting a battle by simple burning your endurance and innitiative with both skills, stealing and swaping weapons on CD will make sure you will always have initiative or endurance to “dance”

since you are dodgeing 90% of the time is very hard to get hit unless CCed and even if a few hits do land on you your high armor/hp and the very fast healing ticks from signet of malice/assassin reward while “dancing” will quickly fill your health back up

i havent tried this build in wvw, but it might have some place in zerg battles (i killed all the mordrem waves in the story mission just by “dancing” and recived very little to no dmg at all while killing all the mobs extremely fast) or agaisnt non heavy cc power builds
