I tweaked the build a little bit for staff and it’s great for everything from 1v1 to ZvZ
I have done this as well. I didnt go so far as to change any armor or skills, simply switching your arcana trait to blasting staff and air trait to super speed was enough.

Thanks for the epilepsy warning at least.
Seriously, thank you.

DD will be more viable post patch. Personally the build you use varies based on your skill level. In my opinion, put less points in water / arcana when you become better at the class. Personally i run 0/15/30/15/10. Can’t seem to live without at least 10 in arcana, but once you can do it, it opens up so much opportunity for burst damage. In my opinion burst is the way to go. putting the enemy on the defensive is half the battle (this is for wvw, i dont pve much)
~Glitch
Cavalier DD with Diamond Skin & Fury on aura / attuenment swap. Hard counter to all condi classes. I have made a point to B line for condi mesmers, necros, and engis. Learn to really land your opening burst to put em on defense and you’re good.
~Glitch
Jkels ive been using the build for a little over a week now (minor adjustment little more tanky for now). Its so great!!! Ive been able to jump in and out of zergs while downing a few people each time. I actually B line for necros, mesmers, and engis now. Wish my comp could handle recording. Can’t seem to really stand up to a good thief or axe gs warrior yet tho. The eviscerate and backstabs cut right through my armor (using earth signet instead of arcane shield over 3k armor) but it still doesnt seem to be enough. how do you handle em?
~Glitch
The Quickness Elite i dont think will ever happen. Unless it was like 2 sec or less for the quickness duration. Would be cool tho.
And ya i do like the risk reward idea. Like the overcharge could do damage to you and nearby enemies, as well as granting the listed boons to yourself. That way if you pop the elite while low on health it could kinda backfire. Kill or be killed kinda thing
~Glitch
(edited by Treeoflife.4031)
Does Bleed + Poison + Burning stack well with Condition Damage?
That should answer your question
~Glitch
FGS gives excellent mobility and the best damage in the game by a wide margin.
If any class has problems with Elites, it’s the Engineers… that mortar skill is just… ugh.
I’ve never play engi so i can’t comment on that. Yes FGS is great for mobility and has some good damage (great if there is a wall nearby) but i always end up feeling more comfortable with my normal weapon skills and feel like a sitting duck for thieves due to not having any interrupts or CCs with FGS. And having something to boost that like Overchage would be real nice.
~Glitch
Well i could see my version working as an “Oh Kitten” bail out as well.
Example: you are attuned to air and getting low on health with a thief right on top of you. pop the elite so the thief gets caught up in the lighting field. Utilize the quickness gained from elite to pop your heal then continue utilizing the benefits gained from remaining elite boons ( Fury to go back on the offensive ). I just see so much potential from having additional access to more fields. Especially if you are not running staff
I was messing around with a Lightning Hammer Signet build last night while capping ruins in WvW for the achievement. The #5 on lightning hammer is pretty much that, it puts a lightning field around you so no one can enter (or exit) without stability.
But it takes up a utility slot. i would take any cantrip or arcane skill before LH. Its the elite options we currently have that is the problem. They’re not as useful as other class Elites.
~Glitch
Why do melandru + lemongrass + ether renewal?
Either you are going to clear your conditions or reduce the duration, doing both seems redundant. Since you also get a condi clear from water 5 and water dodge, I’d suggest switching melandru + lemongrass to something else.
Like Hoelbrak and Spicy Marinated Mushroom?
~Glitch
I have been playing around with a power build in theory craft. It has a similar health pool but the toughness is a bit lower. As stated tho is is power oriented and might be something to consider as a frontline ele.
~Glitch
Decent setup but your burst is borderline exploit and not working as intended. It’s obvious Anet didn’t intend for lightning flash to work the way it does with certain abilities (burning speed and fiery GS rush). Horrendous coding on their part. If I’m not mistaken they fare ixing the fiery GS rush exploit so they should definitely fix burning speed.
Gonna submit a bug report right now.
EvilSardine master of bug reports and my new favorite person! Pretty sure there’s at least a hundred people ahead of you but w/e makes you feel better.
Im opposed to this being considered an exploit. As i said in my previous post here its easy to overshoot and rubber band around almost making it just as challenging to get the timing down and land it as it is to land without LF. But ya report away! While your at it submit an additional report for the many times LF has gotten me stuck inside a staircase or just not work at all across a level surface lol.
PS thanks for the advice Jkels. Better take advantage of it now before Mr bug report’s submittal is read by a dev lol!!!!!!

Right didn’t think about lyssa runes. good point. But i mean warrior can pretty much do exactly that right now. equip a war horn ect. But ya your idea of an Overcharge sounds pretty cool as well, little confused on how it would work but cool!
~Glitch
Sorry if i was not clear, i myself am also trying to work it out in my head as well. The idea is to get something along the lines of a Warrior’s Signet Elite (60 sec cooldown so no i dont think 2 min is too short), but with an elementalist twist. The Fury and Vigor you get no matter what element you are attuned to at activation.
The element you are attuned to at the time of activation triggers the additional elemental effect. The field activated would mimic those staff skills (in both damage and duration) mentioned above The earth activation i could see it being along the lines of EA while attuned to earth. The additional boons are also attunement oriented.
For example: Attuned to fire while activating elite would grant the following
-10 Sec Fury
-6 Sec of Vigor
-8 stacks of Might for 15 sec
- And drop lava font at location (see Fire 2 while attuned to staff for specifics)
And what i’m trying to “achieve here” and “the point” of the skill is in the title. To open a discussion for an alternate Elite Skill. The FGS and Tornado removes weapon skills (meh), and i think the Glyph is lame. If i wanted a Pet i’d play ranger, it not bad in spvp but in wvw it is the most useless elite ever. An Elite that is Cast and go while adding support or offensive boons is an Elite i think ele could greatly benefit from.
I hope this clarifies
~Glitch
(edited by Treeoflife.4031)
Ok so all eles know that the elite skills are not so great. FGS and Tornado have their moments. Lets be honest here all other classes have elites that synergies well with builds. Warriors have signet, thief has venom, guardian has renew focus ect. So i have a proposition for a new Elite skill!!
Elemental Overcharge
The elementalist Overcharges current attunement and releases its energy to gain boons and cause and elemental effect on cast location. Insta cast. Cooldown 2 min
(not effected by boon duration)
Base Overcharge (regardless of attunement)
-Effect: 10 sec of Fury
: 6 sec of Vigor
-The following effects would be triggered at activation and be dependent upon active element
Fire Overcharge : Gain 8 stacks of might for 15 sec
Spawn lava font at location (staff fire 2)
Air Overcharge : Gain 6 sec of quickness
Spawn static field at location (staff air 5)
Water Overcharge : Gain 10 Sec of Protection
Spawn small water field at location (staff water 3)
Earth Overcharge : Gain 5 Sec of Stability
Blast location and damage enemies (360 range)
These are my initial thought. Time on boons maybe be too much but ya. Would something like this be worth taking over current elites available and not be OP?
~Glitch
Tried the build out last night its pretty nice. Didnt have quite enough Crit damage to always put em on the defensive and i now realize how important it is. there were only 3 other things i seemed to be having a hard time with. 1 getting used to saving my dodge rolls, 2 was always keeping track of HP to make sure i didn’t drop out of 90%, and 3 was getting my fire rush LF combo to work smoothly. I was getting alot of rubber banding/ overshooting the target/ not sure what to do differently. Its kinda hard to tell when to pop the lf. Any advice for numbers 2 and 3?
~Glitch
Great video! So concerning the Celestial change, i did my best to get the same stats without the celestial gear. Came pretty close! and ya the ascended gear helps get the armor up to 2800. i think without it, it sits somewhere around 2750 or something. Anyways Props jkels! gonna have to give this setup a try
~Glitch
Message me in game (i play nights and weekends NA eastern). I have played ele pretty much since beta and can help you craft a build / give you the pros and cons of the trait lines / weapon combos.
cheers!

These guys are a formidable and respectable guild. Hope you are all having fun and holding your own in gold league! From your SBI friends in [Deth]!
~Glitch
Was thinking something like this. keep in mind the new GM in fire should be in there.
Known concerns-
Low Health – Can compensate for this by having defense against guard stacks
No Stability – I have never run without stability and understand some people manage (at least there is a stun break).
Thoughts?

(edited by Treeoflife.4031)
You’re welcome! its a good topic to bring up. It does sound pretty awesome. It would shift the meta from being mostly in air and fire to earth and fire. I would like to see it theory crafted on [http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/]. I think it would work pretty well with for DD too with all the immobilize you’re proposing. If you’re running full signets i would also consider written in stone so you really lose nothing by procing them. I can see and condi ele becoming pretty OP lol. Also something to think about is they will be adding “on hit” instead of “on crit” sigils. Maybe a burn or blind on hit sigil in our future? o_o
PS i was also running Bitcloud’s build for a while so i share in your struggles
~Glitch
I disagree about a few thing although i like that you are trying out an Ele condi setup. With that being said if people are never in earth…they’re doing something wrong. Earth is not only for conditions, it is your control. for DD example you have an immobilize, a gap closer, a cripple, a knock down and one of your single most powerful attacks. Yes the auto is pretty bad but air is the only good auto to be honest. Other weapon sets have just as much control in earth. Staff immob, line CC, reflection. Scepter Blind.
As is Earth is where you go to help control the fight either in an offensive or defensive mindset. Adding Stone Heart makes earth that much more viable for a glassy build. I am not trying to debunk your idea at all Rocket. Just know with a high toughness from traits and dire gear why would you need Stone Heart? I’d be more concerned with condi removal at that point….since Anet is trying to kill burst classes with the Ferocity bull “kitten” (still soar about it if you couldn’t tell). I would expect to see alot more Condi Bombers and would only take this trait if i was running more glassy myself.
But that’s my two cents
~Glitch
The Ferocity change should be split between PvE and WvW. I couldn’t give two kittens about running AC or CoF for the hundredth time. if they want PvE to be less “zerker only” then write a better script for the AI and prevent stacking areas ( dont ask me how im not the one making a kitten load of money off RNG weapons and Gem store junk). As a DPS Ele / Guardian i work hard against difficult odds to be victorious. Thank Balthazar i called Bull Kitten on Ascended armor! Either split the stat between game modes or just reduce how often conditions can be applied (like a thief stealth cool down) but for each condition while also allow longer duration. That way ppl can cleanse at the right time and not worry about a massive condi bomb 1 sec later. I really am trying to make up reasons to keep playing at this point. W/e i guess we will just see how it goes.
~Glitch
So this Ferocity Change…
From my understanding…
The once Crit Damage Trait line will be converted to Ferocity. After watching the live stream the Devs stated that the trait line alone will cost us “10% crit damage” reduction with the ferocity change. yup cool kinda upsetting but what else you got? In a full Zerker set you will be losing another “21% crit damage” with the change. K. So a build that was once geared toward playing with high skill / risk / reward has now suffered a 31% crit damage reduction. K. So what is happening to mitigate the lame Condi Dire set up that coni bombers abuse? because I for one am tired if being overly concerned about getting condi bombed and being forced into having a ridiculous amount of condi removal or else …. Well your answer? …Oh duration Sigils are getting a major boost? Also the introduction of on hit instead of on crit sigils? So not only is condi damage NOT getting toned down, but they are getting increase duration as well as no longer having to even think about precision? gg Anet gg. you want everyone to run condi bunker with a kitten load of condi removal? I really dislike playing a condi and bunker…. so am i not forced to ….dislike the game? Im sorry i really dont want to complain i am just having a hard time understanding how any of this makes any sense? Can someone explain how a person that enjoys dps burst is supposed to compete now?
~Glitch
I assume this build or a version of this build has been used by many guardians. I have over 1k hours on Guardian but have not played him since i became addicted to DD ele. I have since become tired of ele skills that dont work, and the amount of effort it takes to maintain a fight. Alas i have returned to my beloved guardian and am attempting something i have not before… A DPS build. I have tried this out for a few days with a good amount of success. I would value the Guardian communities input, criticisms, and recommendations on my build so that i may once again thrive as a guardian in WvW.
i mostly roam and havoc at this point so please keep that in mind as i am anti zerg blob. So here it is and thanks to any input that anyone might add!!!

For someone who is sick of blob fighting…what would you say about roaming / small group tactics there? Is there a place for people in that position? or are the blobs just awful?
~Glitch
Ran with [Deth] the other night. Great guild organized yet fun loving. Highly recommend them if looking for a good WvW guild!
~Glitch
Hey RedCobra
My suggestion to you is to copy paste this topic in WvW recruitment. Can guarantee if you say you are looking for a havoc guild there you will get a ton of hits. People here are mostly looking for PVE guilds. Either way best of luck!
~Glitch
This is just an idea so please don’t attack me. With the signet cooldown reduction via traits, the heal skill will be on a 16 second cooldown. Since it would effectively add health but remove the “regen” it would only be used in those OH kitten moments. With that being said, it would need to be a substantial increase to make it worth blowing the cooldown since its effectively removing a boon. So either the health added would need to be at least half the health bar or something like that, or blowing the cooldown would need to add a defensive boon like 6 – 8 sec of Protection and or Vigor. I could also see a burst “counter” instead being added such as 4 sec of quickness so you can hit em quick quick to get them off you and level the playing field until your heal comes off cooldown. that’s just my opinion
~Glitch
Thanks for the feedback! I like both your setups but cant help but feel like lyssa runes vs a real condi class will save me from one condi spike….then all conditions are reapplied in seconds. I could be wrong but i cant help but feel that lemongrass plus cleanse ire plus the signet should be enough mitigation rather than one time cleanse. Tell me if i am mistaken tho bc i am no master warrior lol!
only reason i say this is i run traveler runes on my thief and they are pretty awesome. 25% movement in and out of combat! and you still get some condi & boon duration and some stat spread. Any more feedback would be greatly appreciated…and maybe a video :o
~Glitch
Hello!
I would love to get input on my warrior theory craft. I am closing in on 80 and would like any experienced warriors to give me their honest opinion on it. I am looking to find a good medium between dps and survivability (maybe a bit more toward dps). I really like GS and Bow. As for traits and gear set up and play style i am not sure what successful warriors actually go with. thank you in advance!!!!

You should check us out in SBI! The community is great and we have pretty decent coverage 24/7. We are in between T2 and T3 atm and doing well. [Zeal] would be a good guild to check out. They are a great defensive guild that protects our home BL and isn’t afraid to also mix it up in open field fighting! You can apply here

hey Ryze
I would suggest moving your post or adding a new post to the “looking for guild” forum section. Put “Looking for good PVE EU Server” in the title and i can guarantee you’ll get a ton of hits. Most people that check the posts here are looking for WvW oriented players (i could be wrong). Either way best of luck!

SBI is a great server with an awesome community. the only map que you have to worry about is EBG and our home BL on reset night (NA Prime time) other than that EBG will que at times throughout the rest of the week but the que time is never that long. You Should Consider SBI. I also have moved here from SF and tho i loved SF…the SBI community is amazing here. We have several medium sized guilds dedicated to defensive play. We also have anti hammer train guilds that are very effective! I have created a havoc guild Rebel Dps [ReD] and we have been working closely with [Zeal] (one of our home BL defenders). SBI has a great community in both PvE and WvW. If you are interested in small group tactics with a new guild to the server, we would be more than willing to train you and help you level. i have personally lvld a thief and have over 1k hours of play with him and can say they are a blast to play! Send me a mail if you are interested we could really use a thief. hope to see you out there!!!

Hello fellow SBI WvW enthusiasts!
We are just starting out as a new WvW guild. We are currently looking for like minded WvW oriented players to join us. We are building from the ground up!!! The guild name is Rebel Dps or [ReD] for short. We are aiming at becoming a strong WvW guild within SBI. The other guild leader and myself came from a Hardcore WvW guild, so we know our way around the battlefield. We want to create a group that is focused, effective, and fun. Players of all skill levels are welcome and we will be more than willing to help train you in all WvW aspects.
We are accepting all classes as we intend on not being too strict, yet members must be open to some minor build modifications to create a stronger WvW core group (if your build works for you and you are not dying all the time we will not ask you to change a thing). The only 2 mandatory requirements we have are that on reset night you show up to WvW (if you are online), and when in WvW we are 100% rep. PvE and Guild missions you can rep another guild since we do not have missions at this time / wont be found doing PvE too often.
Message me in game / send me a mail if you are interested in becoming part of this tight knit WvW adventure!!!
P.S. NA timezones, in game name (The Glitch Mage)
