Thanks for the tip about LB#3 and #5 relating to stealth.
Concerning build / trait / stats…i am aware that LB/SB celestial trapper is not and may never become a meta build and that there are more effective builds…but ty
~Glitch
Thanks law
I tried to really pay attention to what worked and what didnt and noticed a few things while in WvW last night.
For LB….
- #3 skill is easier for me to land while either standing still or moving directly toward target. seems when i try and side step it never works.
- #2 while it has the most damage output the damage cd is low. so i was using it to bait out early dodges and stun breakers and then following up with pet immobs. this one i am not too sure about maybe it is a waste to use this skill for that?
For SB.
- #4 use early to maintain distance
- #2 only use if you know it will land especially against classes with a lot of regen

Ya np. I didn’t and wont take anyone’s comments personally. I’m not ashamed to admit that i am no expert with bows or at the game in general. Any assistance / tips and tricks from experienced rangers is greatly appreciated. There are enough bow rangers that could stand to listen to how successful rangers set themselves up to win. The more rangers that know what they are doing…..the sooner we can shed this negative outlook toward the class in general.
so thank you Crapgame for responding
~Glitch
Ya ik a lot has to do with practicing in general. But do you lock camera or have attack assist on? feel like on top of practice… i might not be set up right. I also think my auto attack might be going off right after the trap is dropped like there is a delay between when i drop the trap and when i get stealth and the auto attack is sneaking in between and canceling the stealth. Do you have to turn away from target to make sure the auto doesn’t do that? idk maybe really does just practice. thanks for the feedback

Hello Ranger Community
I am currently running the LB/SB Celestial Stealth Trapper build and am having trouble adjusting to it. The kind of things i’m having trouble with include….
>skills not working due to not facing target / not rotating quick enough
>Stealth not working when laying a trap
>General mechanics and how to chain bow skills together properly
So i guess i am looking for ways other people have found to cut down on these types of problems ….. solutions like…….camera settings, when to use certain bow skills, how people maintain their toon when the enemy is constantly side stepping, and maybe how they manage to locate themselves or maintain the enemy to have the upper hand.

Just crafted an entire set of Exotic Condition Gear including Armor Weapons and the Runes. I also spent all of my laurels on ascended rings and amulet. Not even 1 hour with all my gear set up and the patch hits and the runes and traps are bugged/nerfed? You’ve gotta be kidding me. Maybe if more time was spent on bug testing/fixing and less time on April Fools Pranks i would be less upset…

Hi
Anyone ever tried a roaming build like this?
If not, other than being too glassy, why not?
~Glitch
TY for all the replies everyone. I can see how the stealth of trapper is super valuable when a large blob comes rolling through. I do really like the survival utility skill. I havnt ever been very good with ground targeting skills….maybe it is time to get better. please tell me, is it possible to run a trapper hybrid? Like this ….

Hey all
so i know what works in PvP but as far as WvW goes i wanted to get some insight on what people run in WvW as far as condi builds go.
The two builds that i am interested in are…
1. The Stealth Trapper Build
2. The Survival of the Fittest ST AD build
I am mostly going to be solo roaming or running with a small group. I know that value of stealth when roaming (i also run a thief), but i know the trapper build has little stun break. I am leaning toward Survival build but if it isnt viable in WvW i dont want to bother. Any advice would be appreciated
thanks in advance
~Glitch
Glad you like it! Make those mesmers fear the ranger! haha
I also run traveler runes sometimes if im on one of the larger maps or spirit watch (traveler runes + all our immobs are great for running the orb!)

I used to be a short bow fan. But i have recently been doing alot better running Sword/Torch and Axe/Dagger. Fire damage is OP in PvP right now. i run this….
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fNAQRAsf3YjEq0yaHLOsQ1aADhqdLEslArAwd8+CXdBbqA-TJhHwAAeCAILDE4kAAa/BA
The number of dodges (from Energy Sigils) and evades (from sword and dagger) helps handle direct damage. Empathic Bond, Survival of the Fittest, and Evasive Purity should handle conditions without any problems.
Use entangle (plus krait runes) > torch 5 > sword leap in fire field> Weapon Swap > Split Blade. Can add in another pet immob or muddy terrain to ensure the condi explosion continues. I also like to use a couple axe autos toward the end of this combo to boost damage.
i try and alternate between dodges and sword/dagger evades and its enough to almost perma evade. Feels like sword dagger acro thief. Save SoS till you are pinned down and have no choice. Was able to take on 2 Warriors simultaneously with this build / play style.
~Glitch
Hi! i am interested in joining!
~Glitch
i know some people that take sigil of perception over fire and your crit chance goes way up. I would always take zerker over assassin. If you dont want perception sigil you could take accuracy sigil. you shouldnt have a problem on how often you crit with that build tho
~Glitch
What about more of a hybrid? i did a theory craft that had 2700 armor, 20k hp, 1600 power, 36% crit chance (without Fury) and 1550 Condi. Anyone run a hybrid survival in WvW with Success?
~Glitch
There is nothing to experiment. Ranger class is dead. And with the rampage as one nerf it’ s even more dead.
You are simply wasting your time.
Ranger will never compete with other classes
idk where your skill level is at or what build you play but ranger IS NOT DEAD. Last night i was able to take on 2 Warriors in mele range in PvP. So either figure out how to play the class, ask for help, or re roll and get out of the ranger forums. Your negative troll rant does nothing for anyone other than frustrate players who have taken the time to experiment with builds, play styles, and enjoy a class that is underestimated.
Go hop on a tanky guard and press 1 ftw!
on the topic of stability….i have not run RAO since the change. I did notice stability stacking up on my thief during dagger storm last night tho. I think the change will be a plus and prevent blowing RAO and with 1 boon rip/corrupt negate an elite skill with a long cool down. I think we can expect some new build opportunities to open up

Alright thanks Tragic good to know. i do know that poison doesn’t have the highest damage out of the list of conditions…good to know poison mastery doesn’t do much.
~Glitch
I keep forgetting to get poison mastery to test it though. :/
There is a SB SD build that uses the same trait point distribution as yours but uses doom sigils on both weapon sets as well as poison mastery and the number of evades plus poison uptime looks OP. I have not attempted it yet either but i think it is on my list.
I tried out Sword/Torch and Axe/Dagger last night and ill say the damage was there but i found myself missing the Short Bow.
What about ST and SB combo? You have burn and poison on ST add Geomancy Sigil and sharpening stones for bleed….then you have poison and bleed on SB add Geomancy and Doom for an on swap condi bomb. This is all theoretical but does anyone run this?
~Glitch
@Treeoflife
The rune as such rarely matters. It’s mostly the (6) Rune bonus, and occasionally the (4) bonus. Not the stats the rune offers. The stat difference is close to none.Thought they nerfed it so one couldn’t mix and match runes for 4/6 bonus?
I think Tragic is only saying that sometimes the no. 4 slotted bonus from a rune set can sometimes be good enough that it could sway your decision when choosing a rune. you are correct that you have to use an entire set while in PvP. I personally don’t think of it was a nerf tho bc a lot of runes were reworked for the better.
~Glitch
Thanks for all the feedback. gotta say i am new to ranger and really dig the support and ranger community!
I will say that i do enjoy short bow for the option to stay range….but i think it is more that i am having a hard time getting sword to work for me. its alot of jumping around and i havnt quite learned how the rotation works.
I terms of mobility i did try out traveler runes last night and really enjoyed the 25% movement speed. I do miss the condi bomb that krait runes gives to entangle tho. didnt notice too much of a damage decrease either.
~Glitch
Hello
for PvP i wanted to get a feel for what other condi rangers run. I have been trying out what has been posted in metabattle seen here and have been pretty effective.
http://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Ranger_-_Condition_Survival
I have also been looking up videos on how to play this build more effectively, but what i have noticed is alot of the weapon sets and sigils people decide to use vary quite a bit. so i guess my main question is……
is Axe Dagger really better than Axe Torch with this build?
Yes the build does focus on bleed damage with sigils and runes but burning does quite a bit of damage without having to have 10+ stacks like bleed damage.
Does anyone run something similar that they have found to be more effect that what is posted on metabattle? My real concern is that if you arnt able to layer in other conditions effectively (which has been one of my problems) one condi clear can wipe a boat load of bleed stacks killing your damage output.
~Glitch
I use this one if I need mobility
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fZAQNAqaVl0Mp8plOx7J8PNBMBxVP8ONnpMangdHAA-TZBFwACODAk2fo9hAoaZAAPAAAAnd this one if I feel It’s possible to sacrifice mobility for DPS concerning team makeup
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fZAQNAqaVl0Mp8plOx7J8PNxLRs9Y4GX/avEMA-TZBFwACODAk2fo9hAoaZAAPAAA
you are able to keep up with the amount of initiative needed to make a p/p build work with these builds?
~Glitch
Anyways the build is 62006. Mug, Improvisation, and Panic Strike for the first line. Pistol Mastery for the second. For the third I forgot the first one (it’s the one that gives 3 boons) but the second and third are Bountiful Theft and Slight of Hand.
Those traits sound good Hyde
try this out this is what i run when i feel like running pp.
i use SR well before entering a fight and pop BV as well. Pick a glassy enemy and pop them. vs high dps classes try to interrupt their rotations with the no.4 skill. also utilizing your heal often helps alot with this build bc you replenish precious initiative as well as health. the ricochet trait is super important in this build as well. not only can you keep a bit more distance when fighting but the bounce in 2v2 and 3v3 situations is strong.
just like other thief builds you want to avoid most 1v1 situations but rather stay mobile and force a 2v1 as well as decaps.
hardest classes to fight are condi necro, med guard, ham bow war, and other thieves (mostly dp thieves). most classes with ample stealth pose a threat bc you need a target for your major damage output (pp no. 3) i have had the best luck in 1v1 situations vs rangers, engineers, non dd eles, and mesmers.
this build is no where near any of the meta builds, but if you really plan things out you can deal serious damage.
hope this helps have fun!!!
~Glitch
Tried this build last night…it was a fun build to play. Things i liked were the damage output, the fact that most people ignore your opening burst until they have half a dozen condis on them and they are half dead, and the success rate of most 1v1 situations i had last night. There wasn’t anything about the build that was bad, but whenever i was focused by 2 ppl i could really feel it. That and condi bombs with movement impending conditions ripped me a new one. might just come to practice with the build tho.
Thank for the fun build and video Doctoris!!!
~Glitch
highest full kitten burst build is 0/30/25/10/5
s/d
scholar runes
sigil of force
doomBECOME UNSTOPPABLE
or until anything sneezes on you
Are you using stone splinters with this build and trying to stay within 600 range? also using all possible damage mods?
~Glitch
What do you mean that lava tomb competes with burning precision? wouldn’t it just trigger it when someone comes to stomp? I only ask bc what this guy did when i got him down was mist form and move to where i was. when he did it dropped the tomb right on top of me, that plus his down state auto got me from almost 7k hp to down state before i was 70% done with my stomp. I also run pretty glassy but still his down state damage was out of control!
~Glitch
I tried this last night with some success. i am still a noob with sword axe but i was liking it. the immobs from the pets work like a charm!
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fNAQNAR8XjEqUxa/KOsw1aAAhadCEAZe7ZoFiBW57JXKKTA-TJBFwA12fYxFBoaZAAPBAA
I agree that the traits are distributed unfavorably for a mele dps set up.
~Glitch
thanks a lot!
PS. really like the Men In Tights reference!!!

Hello Rangers!
So i am trying to find a mele dps build that works in PvP. I dont enjoy condi builds but i do enjoy the ranger mele challenge. here is what i have so far
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fNAQNAR8XjMqUxaBLOsw1aAChaZA8utXhSIFYGvFQJXqB-TJBFwA12fYxFBoaZAAPBAA
i have never tried a mele build in pvp before so any advice would be appreciated!!!

Hey fellow Eles
So i was in PvP and was blown up by another ele running with S/F. I remarked at his damage output and asked what he was running. he said he runs 2 builds 6/0/0/4/4 and 6/6/0/0/2. With all the invulnerability reflect and stability he had the sustain was real! the second fight i downed him and he then blew me up while in down state. i did my best in build editor to try and match his build based on what i picked up on fighting him and what he told me.
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fFAQJArdhMM6bW4wnBf0ABAW4AwA4IKeFsBuhliDA-TJBFwAEeAA12foaZAAnAAA
Anyone else run a similar build that might be able to elaborate more?
PS. ik he was running earth signet bc that immob crushed me first fight.
~Glitch
Hey thief community!
So i was hoping i might be able to get some insight on what a thief i fought the other day in PvP might have been running. The things that i do know are as follows…
1. Only ran Short Bow and never swapped.
2. Had quickness (either from trait or utility skill)
3. used withdraw
4. heavy dps using cluster bomb.
ik it really isnt much to go on but thats all i got. just really interested bc i can never really get SB to work in PvP. Oh and i am new to pvp thief so i could have just been rocked lol.
~Glitch
In my opinion, Eles will not get a new weapon set if they have a conjure for that type of weapon. with that being said, the weapons that are left are as follows.
Mace
Sword
Rifle
Pistol
Torch
My vote would be for Rifle or Pistol
~Glitch
pfftttt haha!!!! this thread is so comedic! Peow Peow just posted on in the ele forums too asking for a nerf. I honestly can’t tell if he is trolling or not but i just can’t help but find the complaining hilarious. i would honestly offer constructive criticism if i thought it would help but there is nothing truly constructive here. Thanks for the chuckle Peow Peow!!!
~Glitch
I have used this build for quite a while. Other heavy condi builds can sometimes be a problem but hey…there is a counter to every build.
PS this is for WvW not PvE
~Glitch
SD fresh air 0/6/x/x/x is good for roaming
not sure about SF sorry
DF signet condi is pretty strong for roaming tho!
~Glitch
Thanks to both of you.
What about the NA scene?

Hey everyone
So i am a bit new to PvP but not to small scale fighting (WvW skill /havoc groups). My question is…. how does one move up in the PvP world? I can’t go into Team Arena with pugs anymore because it usually doesn’t go too well. I really want to learn to play well in a pvp team! but……..
Top notch guilds / teams don’t want new players ( i don’t blame them)
I have not seen average to above average guilds / teams recruiting
So based on these two statements, whats does the PvP community suggest for a player in my position? Is there something that i am missing?
~Glitch
Hey everyone!
So i love both WvW and PvP but am kind of a noob when it comes to computers and technology in general! So my question to everyone is….
What Program/s is/are best suited for video recording and editing for both WvW and PvP? I would prefer a free program obviously but wouldn’t mind buying a reasonably priced one. Please let me know and thanks in advance!
~Glitch
Hey everyone
So i am looking for a group of people to PvP with.
I am not a Pro… in fact im pretty new to PvP but consider myself a talented player. Have a ton of WvW time under my belt (not zerging!!!!…..roaming, havoc, and running with skill groups).
I main ele DD and DF but also play DP thief and Med guard.
I am looking for a good group of players that like to play PvP, know a thing or two, and are just looking to have a good time. I am not looking for a top PvP guild but would like to join a group that does put forth effort. Please message me if you are looking for an ele to run with!

Hey GEAR!
I have an ele that has been my main for over a year. Disclaimer i am still a bit new to sPvP but have been in WvW skill groups since launch. I usually run as a kill squad member. I am really getting into PvP right now am no pro but am not without skill. message me in game if you think i might be a fit!
~Glitch
Hey sPvP people.
So firstly i would like to say the i am a bit new to sPvP.
Secondly i would like to say i have been heavy into WvW since launch
…..ik what you are thinking…..he has been playing since launch but never really gave sPvP a chance!?!?!?!? It is kinda strange but WvW has finally gotten stale. After moving servers 4 times and realizing that it doesn’t matter what tier you are in (WvW will always be unbalanced) i have ventured into the sPvP arena. Now again i am an sPvP noob but i have been in 4 WvW Skill groups and 2 WvW Havoc groups so i am no stranger to fights. Never played frontline (spam 1) always been backline or kill squad member.
Now that yall have my background…..this is what i am looking for.
I am looking for a group of sPvP enthusiasts or sPvP guild to join that plays sometime between 6pm and 10pm est.
I main ele run both DD and DF
Other classes i have a decent handle on are DPS Guardian, DP Thief, DPS Engi (willing to learn bunker decap or w/e spvp engis play.
If anyone is looking for a player with my qualifications to join their guild / group of players please let me know!!!
~Glitch
Yes Metabattle helps a lot!
For Small scale WvW it mostly depends on what weapon set you run and how you want to build. Hybrid, Condi, DPS w/e
DPS
DD- 0/2/0/6/6 or 0/2/2/4/6 Putting more points into earth or air will make you weak vs condi builds in my opinion. Run Cantrips for both
I know people that run 0/3/6/3/2 for Diamond Skin and have some great success.
SD- 0/6/0/2/6
CONDI
DF- 6/0/6/2/0. Signet build with Written in Stone is pretty strong. But run ether renewal or you will have close to 0 condi clear.
Im sure there are more builds out there but these are the builds i rotate between when roaming. Best of Luck Hope this helps!
~Glitch
ok cool thanks! So Soothing Disruption > Cleansing Wave? Was previously just trying to add more grp oriented traits. But if its that necessary to survive i guess i can’t argue haha
~Glitch
Hello i’m sure these threads exist and ik Staff is the only weapon most prefer in Larger groups in WvW, but my guild has a number of Staff eles already and i have got the ok to run DD. Any thoughts on the build i have put together? Any critique would be appreciated! thanks in advance
Goal is to have decent DPS and run with/just outside the front line.
~Glitch
Not sure about how hardcore or casual any of these guilds are. listed in no particular order some of the guilds i see constantly in WvW are as follows. Keep ……. IMG …… KT …… KWBH …….. I know i probably forgot a few and i apologize.
This seems to be a bit outdated but you can also check here
