People have been using condi builds for ages. It’s nothing new.
Yeah, I’ve been one of them, earth spec’d Elementalist main since launch, regardless of that fact they are still some of the worst builds in the entire game.
Um. Dire signet ele running 6/0/6/0/2 is notorious in wvw roaming for being just as ridiculous as condithief/mes. earth has been good for a long time.
No one cares about WvW roaming. The game isn’t balanced around it to any degree, WvW is meant to be a simulation of war, it isn’t meant to be balanced or fair, its meant to reward every advantage one takes, especially numbers. Meaning the efforts of one person make absolutely no difference anyway, and no matter how much WvW roamers claim otherwise, except for reporting enemy movements, roaming has no effect on the game modes win condition and therefor isn’t a problem no matter the build.
Bad roamers are the number one reason why a server population declines over time. Crap roamers means a crap experience for new players when they keep getting poached off the tail by the other servers.
I don’t give a kitten whether its balanced for or not. He said it wasn’t good, it was good.
I agree, because they take up slots which could be filled by players who actually do something that contributes to a victory for their server.
And its not good, if it doesn’t contribute to a win. Remember back when there were stealth builds that could twoshot near anyone on the map without granting them any ability to respond. Yet you never saw those builds in PvP, why? Because the stealth buff makes it so they cannot contribute to the win condition, and therefore the builds were ‘bad’, worthless even, regardless of any other factor.
So a roamer is someone that “takes up space….does nothing to help the server….and contributes to the decline of the server?”
As opposed to players that don’t know what half of their skills do and mindlessly follow around the Karma train aka PvE and die bc they dont know what they are doing while also rallying half of the enemy blob. Also due to the density of players within a single area contribute to the vast majority of lag in WvW?
Little confused. Bc when i roam i kill trash players on their way back to the Karma Blob. Report locations of blobs. Flip camps kill yaks and put swords on towers and keeps. Pretty sure some roamers could be considered to = 5 or more Karma Train zombies. But hey whatever think what you want. Enjoy the K Train!

Too bad the Share Radius is 300. Should be at least 600. I could imagine there being a crazy amount of Auras tho with the new trait line set up. With Boons including Might, Swiftness, Fury, Protection….not to mention the conditions applied when hit while Auras are up. Possible Celestial Hybrid Damage ele?

I’m thinking fire/water/earth could be a good option too.
burning precision + power overwhelming + persisting flames
soothing ice + soothing dirsruption + cleansing water
elemental shielding + strenght of stone + stone heartPerma fury with persisting flames, tons of protection with elemental shielding (aura on fire atune, aura on crit taken, and d/d auras), good condi pressure with burns and bleeds
That not too bad but your losing a lot with no boon duration even if you have 2 more auras that you did not have before.
Once they remove stats gained from trait lines you wont be getting the same boon duration anyway. 10% is not a deal breaker. I am on board with Aura Share Ele with combinations excluding Arcana. Hope tempest is something that we will enjoy!!! I personally have my eye on Fire/Air/Water. Although Earth also looks pretty great

So i had a question about Powerful Auras and how it will work with some of the new traits we will be receiving.
Will the following Auras be Shared if using powerful Auras?
Fire: Minor Trait: Sun Spot. 3 Sec Fire Aura If so will Master Trait: One with Fire also apply?
Air: Master Trait: Tempest Defense 4 Sec Shock Aura.
Armor Rune: Superior Rune of Radiance: Number 4: 4 sec light aura on heal.
Additionally. Will any aura duration buffs effect the duration if shared?
example.
Fire: Master trait: One with Fire 33% Fire Aura Duration increase.
Rune: Superior Rune of Radiance: number 6: 33% increased Aura Duration.
Any clarification on this would be great!!!!

Go to youtube. Choose any class that has a decent full CTV condition build. Watch the video. Point made. it really isnt a secret at how OP full condition builds are. Also go to Metabattle.com and tally how many builds are countered by heavy condition pressure. The only thing that had been in the way before was max condition stacks / condition.
And i didnt talk about Zealot bc is has no more relevance than any other gear set i brought up. So by playing Zealot you have countered condition builds? Poison? Plus last time i checked im pretty sure healing doesnt help damage output.

dont gotta play smart with the "condition removal exists " bc we both know certain classes handle conditions better than others and most classes running full condi have a crazy amount of application.
Yes Zerk has no wasted stats but….they have no health pool. what i am trying to get across is that there is nothing negative about playing CTV where all other stat combos have some area of weakness. PVF will have no precision and PPV doesn’t exist and would do not so much damage without ferocity. PTV i was using to compare the durability level & damage output. Lets be honest here there is no way for a direct damage player to have the same survivability as someone running conditions. People melt just as fast to a condi bombs to someone running Zerk. w/e im putting my opinions on condi build out there

OK. So i am coming from a WvW perspective here.
The meta is always changing in WvW and raw damage has been the supreme meta pretty much since forever.
With the new condition changes i can see the meta completely changing to condition damage. I agree with a lot of the changes they are making to condition damage but a few things to me stick out like a sore thumb to me.
Condition Duration and CTV armor.
Lets compare CTV armor to PTV armor. They both make your toon quite tanky..yes. Damage output. CTV damage output is considerably higher bc condition damage does not rely on precision and ferocity..only condition duration.
Condition Duration. So with the HOT changes people will no longer get condition duration from point distribution. But we will no longer get any other stats so thats good and all. But condi duration food armor and runes….that is where i can see condi duration making direct damage look sub par. To achieve the same damage output as condi builds, players that choose direct damage will either have to run super glass and have high risk or run PTV and have mediocre damage. without condition duration i personally feel the playing field would become a bit more balanced.
So im not 100% sure on what type of suggestions i would make to fix this…but i really dislike playing DoT builds bc it is so easy to be tanky and also have crazy damage output. Anyone out there feel the same or am i just overthinking it?

Recruiting players of all levels of skill, but members are expected to have interest in reaching more advanced levels of play. 100% rep not required except when running with us for official events or in PvP. Look at that pathetic thief, his cleary a nub and needs to learn to play.
Basicly the thief only won when the guardian went nub mode and made mistake after mistake after mistake.
In mesmer or ranger, if i make a mistake i dont get a 2nd chance.
Medi Guardian is cleary a forgiving build that has alot of sustain for the damage that does.
Tone down the sustain and the real skilled guardian will rise while the nub being carry will go to next FOTM class
Yes Med Guard is a tough matchup for thieves with all the blocks invulns and blinds. But i did notice that the shoulders on that guard were hero glorious armor which are only acquired by top PvP players. Someone correct me if i am wrong.

So a tweak is ….. a nerf. A lot of insight there OP. If you were to make these changes…they would need to be backed by some buffs to say base damage of skills. and some way to disengage. BC your proposed “tweaks” would all but destroy the only offensive option guardians have and effectively make them by far the worst class for PvP. I assume you do not play a guardian bc if you did you would know how bad of an idea everything you said is.
So sick of entering a thread thinking something creative might be stated and find some nonsense rambling that is nothing but a troll or class bashing or requesting class nerf. Go back to WoW seriously.

I mean a longbow skill port would be super sweet but so would a trap (set up like thief P/D skill no. 3) when proc.d it would port us backward 900 range. could be super helpful bc you are right. when the ouch moment starts to happen you really have no option by try and kite….but more often just die. Only gs 3 gives us mobility without a target.

id rather have shield 4 be the knock back and give retal (in a cone) and have the shield 5… drop the bubble at location (not lock you in place) still destroy projectiles but also give slow to enemies within it….no activation / early pop. obviously cd on both would need to be adjusted.

I wonder if shield #5 will continue if you weapon swap before the wall returns. if so you could combo the GS blink + shatter Burst by porting in front of the wall to stack additional quickness then dodge roll backwards in include more grp members when the wall returns? or something like that? could make for some crazy advanced combos.

I have just started playing Mesmer. I must say i am enjoying it but i admit it is going to take a while to get used to as i have used thief and ele as my main toons for over 2 years. this is my second attempt at playing a Mesmer (got to about lvl 27 last time and gave up haha). Since then i have been told that Mesmer is painful to play until you hit 30…go figure.
I am mostly going to be playing PvP and WvW. I am starting to like both 1h sword and GS. I know the shatter build uses these weapons and i wanted to know if shatter is a good place to start?
Also if anyone could possible help with some combos / setting up burst / clone management/ any general advice it would be greatly appreciated. Looking forward to adding to the Mesmer ranks.

I’m kinda impressed at the amount of hate pouring out at thief right now haha. not gonna say too much but to those who hate acro thief…..its kinda the lesser of about 5 evils. So hoping for more or enjoying the nerfs to acro thief now will only result in more “god mode” DP thieves. If you don’t play thief then you don’t know how hard SD thief can be to play. Yes there are a few buffs that we got, but most classes got as many if not more buffs than thief. just sayin

Not too sure what you mean… but SBI is fighting really hard to stay in T3 and we have had a few small groups transfer here recently. Dunno if that makes a difference or not but…… Either way i hope you find a good home server that fits. Best of luck to you

Ok so i think this is my first time on this thread so please don’t yell at me if this has been suggested already bc i don’t have the energy to read through all 26 pages of this thread lol. But what about breaking WvW into 3 Alliances. idk what they are called but for example you could use red, blue and green alliances. This would be a continual match up but here is where i think we could maintain identity and also add variety …..
An alliance system has been suggested and it even looked for a while like it may happen but I doubt it now.
That’s too bad. I’ve though about it a lot before and i dont think giving ppl incentive to transfer or reducing map caps will help. there will always be imbalance with only 3 servers in a match up, where as constant shifting alliances like i recommended in my OP i could see somewhat correcting this. hope HoT has some plan to address this issue bc ppl burn out from the same match ups…. especially if they are always the underdog.

In a WvW scenario other than blasting fields it is the weapon you swap to when you have alot of skills on cool down. Waiting for steal or your heal or shadow step? Switch to SB and kite with number 3. I like to kite then when someone is real close i swith direction running past them and dropping cluster bomb. It is a super useful weapon. I would watch some thief v thief dueling vids to see how other ppl use.

Ok so the game mode you are planning on using this build in will greatly determine if the build will be any good or not. In PVE i say go for it. In WvW i say you’re gonna be at a disadvantage only having 1 stun breaker/gap closer. The traits could work but the utilities are not optimal. anyone with the ability to kite with soft ccs would wreck your build. and i mean this all in a helpful and not a negative way.

Just because the skill says it interrupts you can’t interrupt someone who might be standing still doing nothing…otherwise what is there to interrupt? Your target has to be using a skill when you steal. Not before…not after. If you find that no matter what you do, then i would say either the rune or skill is bugged. Please try to time your steal (since it is instant cast) so that you are using it while someone or something is actually using a skill. That’s why i said to use the skill against an enemy with a long / slow animation for an attack. it really would be the best way to test it. I really don’t know what else to say. hope you figure it out. good luck

I cant say for sure. My understanding of Perplexity Runes is that you have to actually interrupt a skill for confusion to apply. Try it against an enemy like trolls that are slow to attack but you can easily identify when the attack is coming. then use steal. Best advice i can give maybe someone knows more. good luck to you.

No servers would have to merge but rather take 1 server from each tier randomly each week and place them in an alliance. Eternal Battleground would remain but every server’s BL would be an optional location for you to travel. Eternal battleground may need to be split into multiple new maps and ik the amount of commitment this would take on Anet’s side but i think this would help diminish imbalance. The only reason i say to split EB into multiple maps is that ik a lot of people prefer EB to BLs.
The only thing im not sure how to resolve in this scenario would be communication across servers. How to mitigate spies across servers and such. But anyways there’s my 5 cents

Ok you are taking this thread off topic…well done. I said its not optimal i never said it was awful. It is an easy weapon to use and survive with but ppl disregard you when using it bc the damage output is not THE most effective. These two facts combined allow you to play an OK version of ranger and that is my opinion. My statements indeed were about SB and not about ranged weapons in general. Power LB rangers are super strong and you will get focused real fastwhen the pew pew commences. So your assumptions about what i meant are very incorrect. Just let it go. I will not be returning to this thread as it is becoming toxic and i can see nothing i say will be met with anything other than resistance. Enjoy your SB thread i’m OUT!!!

the reason i believe SB to be a crutch are…
Ppl will ignore condition SB rangers for a reason…the condition damage is not optimal but the solution is not to make the AA more powerful. Since SB dmage is not optimal…in team fights you sit back while everyone else takes the heat making it easier on yourself but harder for everyone else. ST is harder to play but burn damage can be more effective than bleed. Can take a while to get bleed stacks up where burn is apply and watch em die. If you play ST right it can be way more powerful than SB. That is why i consider SB a crutch. Also thanks for reminding me to take my meds….and dont worry i took with food so im good

The AA is pretty darn rapid as it is now. most people with put earth sigil on SB to maintain that bleed stack. Imagine not needing the sigil due to changing the SB to apply bleed no matter what. That allows you to put an additional on hit or on crit sigil such as frailty and torment layering in more than enough conditions to allow 25 bleed stacks with only AA. The would require 0 skill to play a class that most ppl dislike as is. plus for only 2 trait points you can have bleed on crit…just saying.
The only way i could see them making this change is to cut the bleed duration in half as well as slightly reduce the attack speed. Also…yes classes like SS Warrior can maintain better condition damage but you are at 900 range and they are not. The SB is in a pretty strong spot as is.
Just remember everything in this game is about balance. If they buff something…they will eventually need to nerf something else to make up for it. And you may not like the buff you get as much as you dislike the impending nerf :/
I don’t give a kitten about your range argument, why do rangers have to suffer for the sake of PvP. A warrior can have plenty of uptime on the target and while he does not have 900 range, MELEE ATTACKS CLEAVE 3 TARGETS IN A CONE, WHICH RANGED WEAPONS DO NOT.
I am sick and tired of this game limiting every kitten class into a terrible state just so that pvp people don’t whine about losing duels/skirmishes.
I don’t give a kitten about you not giving a kitten about my ranged argument. Are you saying that SB should apply aoe bleed and not have to be from the back or side? You have a cripple and a stun and utilities to keep ppl at ranger. If you are enough of a noob where you cluster together so a condi warrior is cleaving 3 ppl then you deserve it. SB is a crutch anyways. If you are playing condi AT SD is better than running SB. It gives more support with fire field and more evade opportunities. Im only stating the obvious and JUST BY TURNING ON CAPS I CAN FEEL YOUR ANGER!!!! FEED ME!!

Rifle Would be super cool!!! What kind of skills would it have that we dont already have on pistols and bow? skills like Switch places with target on succesful attack. Cripple. Knock Back. Maybe another possible field like ice or Ethereal? Could be pretty cool!

D/P thief can easily solo a camp and snipe players. Maybe not as fast at taking camps as other classes but roaming to me is more about fights and less about taking objectives. GS high mobility War can be a serious roamer as well tho. Ranger when roaming… i think you want to play as a stealth trapper or full glass LB/GS.
Again tho it is all about what class feels the best to you bc all classes can be set up to roam.

I use Celestial Staff ele and i can say it works great! I was able to walk the Hero…or w/e its called….. to the enemy lord but putting CCs on the enemy players trying to kill him and buffing the hero with speed regen and protection. We then killed the lord with 3 enemy players on us. So OP i think you just need more time on the map to see how you can benefit as an ele. It is definitely a different play style to get used to.

crochip is correct in saying that their is no top roamer and most classes can be made to work.
With that being said i think that thief is top roamer and her is why…
Mobility: No class in the game has the mobility that thief has. short bow gives you 900 range ports with low cooldown.
Stealth: Thief is the master of stealth. and the reason this can be a make or break is WvW is due to the fact that most ppl travel in blobs of 40 or more ppl. Nothing helps you get away better than stealth.
Build Effectiveness: Thief has one of the top builds for both heavy DPS and Condi specs.
Dont get me wrong, i am totally bias on the whole thing bc i play thief as one of my mains. Other classes can do just as well in terms of dps and condition damage. but no class has it better interms of mobility or stealth. GL with w/e you decide

Celestial can be quite potent for pvp / wvw. For WvW you can modify your stats a bit by selecting weapon stats that boost that weapon’s strengths. For example…
I run the stealth trapper Celestial LB/SB build. I Run Zerker on My LB to boost direct damage and run rampager on my SB to boost its condition damage. Works surprisingly well. Rapid fire can still hit for a round 6K after guard stacks and can be enough vs players running anti coni builds or visa versa when someone pops an invuln like endure pain i switch to SB and pop off some condi pressure.
In my opinion tho. i would just settle on Exotic Celestial. The stats are really just not too much better to go through all the trouble of crafting Ascended. I recommend doing zerker bc you can always switch out weapons and trinkets to fill other stats alot easier than armor.

Well all i will say is that there are plenty of people out there looking for where they belong in GW2. If helping their players have a good time by connecting them with other players in a fashion that doesnt involve 8 server transfers and hours looking through the disorganized forum walls isnt one of their top priorities?….they will start losing players. Even with the new HoT coming out.

I have a few ideas on how to improve the GW2 website that could make things easier and help people find what they are looking for…..
For Example…
In the ….looking for….. > into the search i put in ..Casual.. > 0 results
So what is the point of the Search tool?
If they set up a criteria search tool that is set up with dropdowns..people could skip the walls of topics that do not pertain to what they are looking for.
Example>Server:………..>Drop down > Guild > Semi-Hardcore > Timezone > Roaming….
And a list of semi hardcore posts of guilds or other people looking for this criteria would appear. The current looking for doesn’t work very well in my opinion. People could check off the criteria that they want their post to appear under so they can connect to people better. The same way you can break down your search in the TP is probably the best way of search i could compare it to.
Sorry if any of these topics already exist… i am trying to find a post similar to one that i left in the looking for section of the forums with little to no success and am frustrated. anyone feel the same?
