I don’t know if i would consider SBI a Roaming Server but we have a few havoc guilds and plenty of people that enjoy roaming. Our population has risen recently so there are still blobs but not to the extent of T1 blobs. Only real blobs appear during peak NA time. But we are an active server. Ive seen alot of Havoc / roamers on NSP as well. Good luck finding a good spot!

Ugh i still cant decide…think i’m more on the fence now haha. I’ve looked through tons of galleries but there is no mixing and matching of armor (which i love to do). And the colors i normally use are never being used in galleries. Guess ill just have to make a gut decision when the time comes. Good point about everyone probably making a charr tho. I haven’t made a Charr or Asura yet so either would be new for me. Maybe ill delete my warrior and try both before expac

Hello GW2 ppl!
So i will absolutely be making my Revenant an Asura or a Charr. I have yet to make either race. options to weigh. I will be using this toon in both PvP and WvW…so i know the logical choice would be Asura bc their actions are harder to see. But charrs from an aesthetic point of view just look cooler in heavy armor. I need help in making my decision. please post your best looking heavy armor charr or asura to help me decide! Or write out why i should choose one or the other? Thanks in advance!

For small groups i go Celestial Armor. Zerker, Knight & Cav Trinkets. Zerker Weapons. Lighning Rod. Hoelbrak Runes. Mele classes have a tough time with me. Is not squishy i find it just right

My guild is small & PvP oriented. We are super relaxed most are from SBI. Guild was created for semi-hardcore PvP….meaning….we will run together and take matches seriously but have no real intention of joining Tournaments. Only on coms occasionally but will increase use if people want to be in coms more. Not 100% rep.

I don’t think the overcharge locking us out of 1 element will ruin ele at all. there is already a cool down when you leave the attunement anyways! just subtract that from the lock out. plus if you go tempest you can spec to reduce that and overcharge for only 5 sec more than a regular attunement swap. The effects we lose from the constant swap will be compensated by the overcharge. Plus Warhorn skills may be pretty sweet. Wait for the demo.
Also there is no way we can replace guard. who else will provide us stability for the overcharge? : )

I’ve said this many times before, but eles are the most versatile profession in the game by design, and aren’t majorly deficient in any one thing that an elite spec could offer. Necros got a GS because they had no cleave. Mesmers got wells since they had poor AoE. Elementalists have the tools for everything in one way or another, even if some tools, like scepter are less ideal than their other tools, you cannot argue that those tools aren’t there.

What if they added 5 stacks of stability to the overcharge but only apply after 3 sec of charge? so someone that reacts quickly can interrupt but if left unattended for 3 sec stability kicks in for the remainder of the charge allowing the overcharge to complete. Is the only way i could see overcharge going off without interrupt.

If the warhorn is DPS and ranged AOE based i will use it. What warhorn really needs is some spice! With all current warhorn skills there is no diversity in animation all skills pop an effect and thats it. its like a sigent skill as a weapon. If some creativity goes into how the skills are used it could be cool. an evade or port could help spice up the skill set. if all 8 skills use the same animation and just blow into the horn i will be upset haha.
how would it compete if it is direct damage based and ranged? staff has that covered and so do the fire skills for scepter.
Im not saying to replace staff. But ranged AOE is the only thing we don’t have from off hand weapons currently. Focus is single target range / defensive, offhand dagger has some gap closers but obviously mele range. Id prefer direct damage to condition damage but some combo would be ok i guess. thats just my opinion tho

Yea I sure hope it has AOE like Ring of Fire, Fire Wall, Fire Grab, Comet, Updraft, Earthquake or Churning Earth. Maybe it’ll have some defensive cool downs like Frost Aura, Cleansing Wave, Magnetic Wave or Obsidian Flesh. Or it could have some boon stacking like Area Might and Fury with a bunch of blast Finishers? Ooo oo maybe even some mobility like Ride the Lightning!

i would like close to the same stats bc it keeps me alive and i still do good damage. The runes and sigils i use are all important for my build. I guess i will just adapt to having less Vit + everyone having more burst. Or just remain in PvP since WvW is a lag fest most days anyways…even tho WvW is my favorite game mode. oh well

just went into a theory craft to attempt to get the same stats. With guard stacks it can be done. Higher stats even. But without (especially since they plan on getting rid of the guard stacks) i was shy on HP and high on both Ferocity and Power. I assume alot of other Amulets for PvP are the same way/have the same problem. Is this why some builds viable in PvP have no place or struggle in WvW?

Aight ill try some new combinations out. Annoying that ascended is zerker-valk and not normal valk. Im thinking Zerker valk Trinkets, Zerker Armor, Valk Weapons, Precision food/utility.

I would consider myself to be a slightly above average player. Played since launch most time spent in WvW havoc teams / skill groups / gank teams. Majority of focus has been PvP lately and im really getting into it.
Im looking for a PvP focused guild that isnt 100% rep, is ok with me not being able to play on sunday nights, and just wants to have fun in PvP while also being in TS3 / Vent.

If they added sensible stats to rune of the adventurer that would help S/Ds a lot. (175 condi dmg ATM makes it pretty weak). I don’t get why dont arenanet makes at least 2 rune types with this effect 1 with condi dmg 1 with power or something. or just remove stats from runes and let us choose effects and stats separately

I’d argue and say that it is combat related. When do you use your elite out of combat? When are you hit by someone/something when not in combat? Dodging is one of the best ways to mitigate impending damage and lots of classes have traits that remove conditions or apply boons when you dodge.
Personally i would use Adventurer Runes if they didnt have condition damage as main stat….don’t use condi. Thats why i think precision(used by power builds for direct damage and for condi builds for condi on crit) and vitality (bc anyone short of running full bunker or has a generally low health pool could benefit from extra HP especially when the general damage output is a lot higher) are the most fair stat distribution to pair with vigor / endurance effects bc any build could take 1 trait and benefit from extra dodging other than just the dodge itself.
Discombobulation would work if you maintained your normal skill set upon transformation….and be hilarious haha!!!

so you run scepter without fresh air and you camp air most of the fight? You should fix that problem too.

Fresh air on scepter is hugh burst if you are not using it i would not use scepter personally. Like FrownyClown said you need to swap out of air to proc fresh air and should never camp any attunement. So start in air. unload burst. If it goes well and they are on the defense i’d go Fire next to try and finish em off. If initial burst doesnt go well i’d go water to proc soothing mist and small heal to stay above 90% health. or go earth and pop stone barrier or invuln and heal. while in water tho i hear soothing mist is actually pretty good. Around 700/tick with decent heal power (which with zealot you should have). Always try to swap back to Air as soon as it is refreshed. Others might be able to help more or offer better advice…

If you are not willing to compromise on the zealot armor you will need toughness bc without it your healinh power isnt worth anything. evern with your invulns it wont be enough. Maybe try something crazy like using Brawler Runes. I would also mix trinkets too. Try something crazy like Air/Earth/Water. Zephyr’s Boon, Tempest Defense, Fresh Air, Elemental Sheilding, Geomancer’s training, Daimond Skin, Soothing Ice, Cleansing Wave, Soothing Power. It sounds weird but with the parameters you provided i would do something like that. Good luck with w/e you decide!
PS. Maybe Valk Weapons & Celestial Trinkets might give you the stat spread you need to both stay alive and do some damage?

Since you can swap balthzar or whatever condi rune for travelers and fill the condi duration gap with food you can porbably not go wrong with any of these builds that run carrion.
Good point on the food for condi duration. So ya Traveler should be fine then i guess. May mix in 2-4 Trinkes worth of Dire for a small boost to Toughness. On my Celestial ele i get bursted in seconds by most thieves (largest population of roamers)

So ppl have posted their PVE and PVP “incineration” condi guard builds. I like the Zeal.Valor.Virtue set up. Lots of Damage with ok survivability. But for WvW Havoc and Roaming you need Mobility. Also concrened about the amount of cleanse ppl have and if you are applying mostly Burn….. Wondering if anyone has modified these builds for WvW Havoc or Solo Roaming?
From what i can see either Traveler or Speed Runes would be most helpful.
Doom, Geomancy, Agony, Smoldering sigils i could see being best.
As for Armor i could see Carrion, Sinister, or Dire being most useful…or some mix.
So…any thoughts?

Really wanted to try radiance, light aura with elemental contingency seems to be a great way to stack up retaliation.
Anyone else feeling the loss of boon duration? I never had a problem before with fury on attunement swap, but this time the 2s of fury doesn’t seem to last long enough, just barely for 1 skill after you swap.
Agreed about Fury! Is why im using Zephyr’s boon and Pack Runes. I am personally more interested in the movement speed + Aura Duration of Radiance Runes tho. I Do like Air line but i really want to try a Fire/Earth/Water Set Up. But without some access to movement speed it really just doesnt cut it in WvW setting. Need Dat Speed!

Celestial Ele is still very strong and fun to play. Now you have choices.
1) Air/Water/Arcane – focus on playing defensive whilst still putting out decent pressure.
2) Earth/Water/Arcane – for that classic bunker feel.
3) Fire/Water/Arcane – great damage and blind spamWhat about Fire/Air/Arcane? Could that work?
D/d ele without water? I don’t see that happening.
Obviously it could work somehow, but you’ll be strugling with condis a lot.
Yes not having water could prove to be difficult. We do have a few options tho.
Cleansing fire in both fire line and utility. Ether Renewal ( interruptable but still).
-Condi Duration Food. Generosity Sigil.
I think it could work but you are right you would struggle. I feel like for the sake of diversity that some people will give it a try

Said it in another post but as much as staying in water / arcana is what most of us are comfortable with and know and have great synergy together. I could see builds omitting either trait line or maybe even both. Fire/Air/Earth with Radiance or travler runes you could probably get the same boons and durations. Might need an energy sigil or something but still with all the new toys we have i can see it happening. not tested tho

Ya i can see how it would be confusing. The way i read the OP was Fire/Air/Earth/Water/Arcana in that order. I dont think the 3 or 1 makes a difference really bc it is then while trait line or nothing now. So saying how many points you put into the line doesnt mean much. Id rather see them as letters not tbh. F/R/E/W/A

I feel like anything is on the table right now. I am personally a fan of 01011 right now bc it is the trait line i took before the patch. I can see a 10110 or dare i even say 11100 build becoming a possibility. You will have to be creative in trying to fill the gaps left behind by leaving water or arcana but i believe if people are willing to alter their play styles a bit any combination of the 5 is possible to become effective. I would even consider Traveler or Speed ….or the Radiance runes to make up both Boon duration and or Swiftness (since you are celestial stats anyways traveler i can see working out fine)

Im running D/D Air/Water/Arcana with celestial gear mix of zerker and cav trinkets, Zerker weapons, and pack runes. Hard to Win in a 2v1 but i was able to down 1 of em and leave the other at 50% health. I say Celestial is in a good spot for layering in a few pieces for some equal stat distribution….idk about full celestial tho.
(PS im obviously more direct damage focused if you are more into direct damage give Air trait line a try with our new GM buff Bolt to the Heart) Was hitting 4-5k burning speed when enemy players were below 50%

So you havnt played WvW in…what…..a year? So how do you know that Roamers kill servers? How do you know that no one care about roaming? Bc that to me seems like your ignorance outshines mine any day and that you are one making assumptions about what people care about in WvW and how effective they are in doing it. Maybe i do see myself as superior to some. what of it? I never said i am best roamer NA.
Ok so a zerg flips a camp faster…..how many places can a zerg be compared to 2 individual roamers……? A few roamers can flip camps so Zergs can concentrate on towers and keeps. Many times a zerg has showed up as a camp is flipped by me or another roamer…thanked them and moved on quickly to the next objective.
So killing a person on their way to a zerg is only 1 person….Isnt blob fighting more or less a numbers game? Are you admitting that one person in a blob is worthless? What if i killed 2 people on their way to a zerg?
Do not presume that you are capable of quantifying a players worth by either the build or play style they choose while in WvW bc if not me or someone will prove you wrong. I would say skill and WvW knowledge can quantify a players worth better than what they run or what they do. And if you attempt to insult someone’s method of enjoying the game expect some push back. Both Zergs / Roamers / havoc players / defensive players have their roles in WvW and by making some wack statement like roamers are a waste of space…you can see how it would lead me to the assumption that you would be a K trainer that knows nothing else about WvW.
