Indeed, also my thought..
And should you however be unable to stow it since it has hit something, just keep running away from the aggro.. If it goes down, you’ll break combat, so the pet will be back “Playing dead, are we?”. Or you can switch pet while running away, this will put the summoned pet next to you and you’ll be out of combat in no time..
EDIT apparently what Paken Kai mentioned also..

On a sidenote: I see so many people complain about their pets.. Didn’t they know the pet is something native to a ranger when creating their character? Mine has never bothered me at all, on the contrary.. Would be quite worthless without it.. Something to take the aggro for me while I hail down my arrows, I love it..

Hmmz, that part I didn’t get actually.. My HP never went below 50% if I’m not mistaken..

go up against a real 80 thief and you’ll be finished in seconds. then you’ll be invis stomped. the amount of DPS they do is ridiculous and that’s not even mentioning the stealth.

They have high DPS, agree.. And stealth is overpowered, also agree.. But some common skill use and you should be able to dodge/evade their high DPS attacks. And when they go stealth, don’t run to them of course.. Let them come to you (since they will want to backstab you, if not running away from you). A class is never unkillable, it’s the player controlling it that gives the odds.. I’ve seen plenty of lvl 80’s not using skills wisely, while some upleveled ones really know what to do and when to do it..

Hmmz, strange answer there.. I can’t recall I was ever downed by a thief 1vs1 in WvW to be honest.. My vid quite explicitly shows how I put down 3 thieves myself (ok, second one was completely unprepared, so went down with some quick SB shots since he was fighting a Veteran Guard.. His bad though, always check surroundings in WvW..)
Agree on the D/D ele.. Have downed not so many of those in my entire WvW career.. But they are killable..

Everything can be killed by everything, the beauty of this game..

Well, if they get close to you, then it’s quite painful.. Thankfully Shortbow’s #3 evades and jumps away from the target, while lightning reflexes is also one hell of an evade skill (giving you great endurance regen afterwards as well for that little more dodge rolling).

You noticed indeed: No toughness, no vit. So the 16k hp is not that much, but evasion is crucial here..

I myself like to roam around in WvW solo a lot, and I use my 20/25/25/0/0 build for it.. It’s heavily based on conditioning (power/precision/cond dmg gear).

Main weapon of choice is the shortbow of course for this one.. Pets I use: Dog (heavy dmg + F2 immobilizes) and Spider (poison + F2 immobilizes). Heavy immob to counter those OP D/D ele’s of course..

If you read the skill description it says that your pet will use the active target? Drop target and try casting, no?
(not sure, to be honest, never actually use a pet skill by purpose without a target)

I usually just run in, kill the archers while everything is on my pet, switch pets after they’re dead, and tank the rest. Thanks to Omnom Pie, the more melee on me, the more heals I get.

I’m quite amazed that you would let your pet die, gives you the recharge of 60 seconds.. Also, I try not to be dependant of whatever snack I used.. :p Mostly in WvW I actually never use any consumable..

My main uses the same build in WvW, whether it be solo or in zerg: Conditioning!

Shortbow with Power/Precision/Cond dmg, same with armor and accessories.. Once you’re used to this style of play (getting behind your target and hitting it, while keeping your pet recharge at 20 seconds [read: don’t let your pet die]), you’ll enjoy it, and have a blast in WvW (I know I do :-) )

Stowing the pet is way too underused, so that’s my 50 cents for this..

Created a small video yesterday while messing around on Vabbi territory (yes, T9, so?) and explained some of the tactics used..

For instance, something I fail to see being used a lot is the “Stow Pet” ability. It’s great though, since it doesn’t give you a recharge counter when your pet appears when you start combat (if you take it out manually you have the 20 seconds of course).

Happened to me too, sometimes. It will resolve once you progress in the map completion. (The lost progress will be reestablished.)

Hmmz, then I’m scr*wed, since I just had map completion (‘Been there. Done that’ achievement) and it says also 0% on my char.. So there is no way that she can progress in the map completion anymore..

EDIT: After logging another char and then heading back to character select, the correct 100% was shown..

The difference between tiers is apparently very big.. However, just figured out that if Anet would merge according to a fold-up principle, we would have a very interesting WvW scene in all tiers.

Advantage: The “lesser” WvW players would learn a lot from the “better” ones, while the “better” ones will feel so satisfied knowing they can share their knowledge with the “lesser”..
Disadvantage: The two who merge in the middle are equally ranked, so there can be no knowledge transfer there I’m afraid..

A wild idea, but in my opinion certainly something ANet should think about..

(Fold-up: First one merges with last one, second with second last, …. Like this the rating/server would be more or less the same on all.)

note: If they should merge, I so wanna keep the name “Fissure of Woe”. Patriot by heart! ;-)

It has to be said that the WvW scene no our server has evolved a lot.. I remember that in the beginning of my GW2 career I would be wandering around in our homelands encountering more enemies than friendlies.. Nowadays you can actually see lots of planning and upgrading, so we’ve come a long way (but of course there is still a long way to go yet).
War story to illustrate: Tuesday 40 WSR were hitting on Dreaming Bastion and 20 FoW kept them off (they even breached the gate but were pushed back by us).
Also the amount of GOOD commanders has increased. Indeed, good, since there are still others: People that wear the commander tag should be acting like one. I will not mention names, but there is a commander who find pleasure in flaming all for “stupid noobs” instead of giving proper advice (knowing that not all are all-knowing like he (thinks he) is).
(I myself rarely wear my commander, since I like to raid camps solo. However, when the time is nigh, the tag will come on and we can get to some serious WvW.. )
So, to sum it all up: Fissure should never merge with another world.. Those otherworldly invaders should beg us to join our ranks.. ;-)

My main has Twilight Armor set (Power, Precision, Condition Damage) + Shortbow with same stats..

Concerning skills: You need to remember your survivability, so I almost always have a Signet of the Wild and Lightning Reflexes stacked.. Entangle as Elite is awesome in WvW (not many invaders/defenders have immob breaking). For healing I’m a big fan of Troll Unguent..
