Commander – Jam Death [Jd]
Fissure of Woe
Level up on WvW is just terrible.
I am with a lvl 16(60%), capped the ENTIRE eternal battleground with a big zerg (4 towers, 2 keeps and 2~4 camps) and I only go to lvl 18.
This problably like kill 10 bosses on pve(and more expensive) but I receive only kitten in my face.
- Less XP than pve
- kitten items(problably 1 green)
- Some kitten Karma
- Complete random Honor dropWhen you get 65+ it’s more easy, the scale is just terrible for low level characters.
Please note that OP was talking about WxP and not regular XP..
And it’s well known that if you’re eager for rewards (karma, items, …) WvW isn’t the place to be (at the moment)..
Think that the technology in 2 years (time to reach 5 more supplies) will bring us so astonishing games that gw2 will seem like pac man and you’ll see how this system is failing in it’s task (giving players the feel of progression that was missing in wvw).
You do know that Guild Wars 1 is also still played? And that game is older than 2 years and had also a bunch of whiners complaining about the failing system.. True though, most of those whiners just left..
I think OP actually meant badges, but typo’d..
Badges are earned for killing enemies. You can use these to acquire weapons and armor. Speak to the Weaponsmith and Armorsmith NPC’s at the spawning area’s in WvW for the listings..
I think rank will come faster as more and more activities reward rank. Also, wxp is based on opponent’s rank, so as the mass gets higher rank, newbies will get increased wxp gain automatically.
WxP for killing an enemy is granted based upon the time that player was active on the map without being killed. So you can easily get 60 WxP for killing an invader while killing a knight could yield little to no WxP..
i think FoW is an even more stable server then viz
Indeed.. Born in T9 and we’ll probably die here too..
Indeed.. Born in T9 and we’ll probably die here too..
I’m a FoW player and although we are indeed never winning in our tier, I would never leave the server.. In my opinion, WvW should be fun at all costs. And I do enjoy myself in T9 with some small scale roaming or some solo tower capping.
So it kinda depends on what you want for your WvW experience:
Do you want stressy weeks with high zerg battles? Check out the higher tiers..
Do you like small scale play? Transfer to Vabbi or FoW..
(preferrably Vabbi, don’t want FoW to be impacted too much in WvW with transfers)
I see what you are saying, I think i want to step away from the cat probably…
Always bear in mind that builds differ a lot.. You might feel more at ease playing with a cat pet and your playing style might be dedicated to this pet. So make sure that, when you change your pet, you interact differently in your battles. (for instance: swapping out a melee pet with a ranged pet -> keep in mind to position yourself behind the pet when getting aggro’d from a ranged character)
This is my build apart from 2 pieces of sentinel armour
Any suggestions?
I’ll have to check later when I get home from work.. But I’ll check it out and give you some feedback..
I created mine as a human, but this was purely because I have created my main as a spitting image of a real life person..
And since I don’t know that many asura in real life..
I myself play a condition ranger as well, and have to admit it takes some time to get the max out of the build of course.. For instance, make sure you’re always hitting your target from the side/back with SB#1: A bleeding stack each time you hit, it’ll hurt. I can easily keep up 10 bleeding stacks of 113 dmg on my target, resulting in 1,130 dmg per tick.
Do not expect to burst with a SB (or any other weapon), ranger just isn’t that great in doing heavy DPS in a short time. I crit (63% chance) for 600-650 dmg with a shortbow, so it takes no genius to realise that the bleeding is doing more dmg in time..
Also, add some condition sigil to your SB? I use a sigil of corruption on mine (increased condition dmg for each kill, max 25 stacks), but you can of course use a sigil of earth (chance to inflict bleeding on crit).
Overall: Hit, condition (bleed, poison, cripple), evade and keep out of range (use crowd control from your pet if it has – I use doggy (knockdown/immobilize) and spider (poison/immobilize). And just see your target’s health droppping insanely..
and to others on FoW please don’t leave WvW when a certain person starts spamming and verbally abusing the server with “sick kids” and the sort, we lose a lot of people that way
Is it my impression, or has that person eased up a little as of lately? I remember seeing him online this weekend, and he wasn’t harassing at all.. Wearing his tag, stating which upgrades he started, … No flaming or swearing whatsoever was involved (I thought in the beginning that his account was hacked)..
Have multiple toons at 80, but the one I enjoy the most is my ranger. I love the flexibility of the class: Whether you want to roam solo or join the zerg, be a DPS beast or more supportive, we have the skills and traits..
This is why I don’t like the current system: it forces you to choose whether to loot, rez, fight, or run.
Hateful, those choices in life.. No idea how slow you walk, but I don’t think that walking over to your chest, hitting F, and then getting back to the champ would have taken that long?
Why oh why can’t I just loot AND fight AND rez AND get some badges AND get my legendary at the same time?
but take 1 stack of bleeding lasts 10+ sek but confusion only for 1 to 2 sek mostly and you can evade all confusion damage when you dont do enyfing you cant evade from other conditions
Increased condition duration will also have its effect on confusion if I’m not mistaken.. And bleeds don’t last 10+ seconds by default, trust me..
And that’s the great things about conditions: You get a condition and you need to wear it off or remove it. Applies to bleeding, poison, confusion, … The fact that bleeding does constant (tiny) damage shouldn’t be too frowed upon.. Condition removal, anyone?
Bleeding too much damage? Hmmz, ticking at 113 damage, I don’t see how that could prove to be a problem? Confusion is something totally different (although it’s also a condition), its damage triggers on skill activation. And the damage it triggered is quite some more than bleeding stacks can..
I run a Power/Precision/Condition dmg ranger and have tons of fun in WvW.. I normally roam solo/in small group, so heavy condition damage is nice to capture camps and sentries easily.. Also having a pet that takes aggro away from you is awesome..
Example vid: Solo roaming in hostile maps: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ty7MP6M5_9c
If you play that much WvW, I personally see very little reason to stay in tier 4 or below. So enlighten me.
Because I chose Fissure of Woe as my initial server and will never ever transfer.. Some people still take pride in their server and its reputation.. And yeah, we’re T9, but that surely doesn’t mean WvW is dull.. On the contrary..
I would rather play WvW on a lower tier server where there is no pressure at all. I can be mistaken, but the WvW at higher tiers seems so more stressful.. :p
Agree with that, the PvE part of the map completion is a lot easier but also a lot bigger. And the only tedious thing about those PvE stuff are the Champion mobs that you can encounter on your way to a specific Vista..
Nevertheless, you only need a small group to capture a tower/keep in WvWto get the POI and Vista inside it.. And especially now that the attack marker is shown with a 30 seconds delay, you should be able to golem rush anything with some people before the defenders can react (in the assumption that the tower/keep isn’t (well) defended by players).
You want a legendary but don’t want to go through too much hassle in obtaining it? :/
Please note that all those hardcore WvW players need to get into PvE to get their map completion, and there are quite a bit more vista’s, POI’s and waypoints to find in the PvE map than in WvW..
- Sentries
What’s the point in this? The only thing they do is make whole zergs stand in a glowing circle doing nothing for a while. The sentry itself is totally irrelevant and can’t even make the difference if he’s pulled into a 1v1. They might as well remove it and leave only the glowing circles for WXP.
I use them as markers of some sort, those sentries.. When I see that one of our sentries is gone, I know that there is something amiss around there, so I can start heading over to the sentry/closest camp for defense.. Once the enemy sentry appears, recapture and have a new marker at your disposal..
Just check when you server is very active in WvW and try to get some people/guildies together with you to capture all you still need..
(trust me, it’ll work.. I’m on FoW and even I have map completion without ever transferring)
Hey Endacil, it’s just Blue.. Ignore the troll, put him on your block list, and /laugh @ him every time you see him standing somewhere at spawn or in the garrison..
Well, I didn’t invest any ability point until the latest patch, where I put all available points in Arrow Cart mastery.. This new trait in the WxP abilities is quite worth it in my opinion: Massive extra damage, an extra skill #4, …
The other WxP traits were just not worth it according to me: Too much investment for too little yield..
Ok, so if I read this correctly: I roam solo in enemy borderlands and I flip camps, just to notice that all of a sudden the camps are resetted and I’m unable to recapture due to some silly buff being applied?
Right…..
I’ll stay loyal to the server I chose and continue to have fun “losing” and killing the zerglings. You keep thinking that having a high rating makes you good, and I’ll keep thinking we’re better for winning what battles we do with lesser numbers.
Indeed, I would even dare to say that the skills of the lower tiers match or even superceed the skills of the higher tier players.. We do more with less..
I’ve been on FoW since launch and, while I wouldnt be happy about it, I honestly wouldn’t be too sad to see FoW merged with another server.
Also native FoW player (chose the server since it reminded me of that glorious map in GW1) and will never ever change. However, I’m not a fan of merging our server with Vabbi or so.. I’m too proud of my server, I don’t want to see it merged.. FoW kicks kitten!
True true, I was amazed when I noticed the rankings on Saturday: Our night shift has done a wonderful job! It’s the first time ever that I saw FoW in the lead over BT, I hope it won’t be the last time..
So fellow FoW players, friendly Vabbi’s and Blacktides: See you on the battlefield!
Only a T9 WvW player has never seen a BL queue before
FoW rocks!!
First character created in GW2 was a ranger (I had 3 rangers in GW1, needless to say the class really suits me?), have created some other characters afterwards, but my main (Freya) holds 80% of my game time (if not more)..
… freya ….
Howdy!
anyways, we do fairly well as far as skill
That we sure do..
Mentioned it earlier to our friend that being in a lower tier doesn’t mean that your skills are worse than higher tier players, but the fact that we don’t have enough people on during prime- and downtime is killing us.. I have seen times where FoW captured quite a bit of the WvW maps, but when downtime starts our green opponent (love to our red opponents!!
) always manages to start recapping, since there is no one left from us to defend..
The best guild tag, I’ve ever seen, is [STFU]. Afaik, it’s a guild on FoW.
Yeps, sure is.. “Just Be Nice [STFU]”, at your service
Btw, is that Blue guy still nagging in your home BL?
Haha, our Blue has a reputation apparently..
Well, when I was online yesterday he was wearing his commander tag and was posting constructive comments.. :/
So either his account was hacked or he has learned that being on all people’s block list isn’t the ideal way of working/communicating..
Since normally it’s a constant “sick kids”, “noobs”, “I can take on 25 BT’s on my own”, “I’m perfect since I spend tons of cash in WvW, so you all have to listen to me”, …
Fissure of Woe:
Regan Brock [WvW]
Kaosberg De Lay [PvP]
Jirildor [DE]
Of course there are lots of others that I enjoy rolling with, but I had to choose..
Woohoo, Kaosberg for president!!
(since already a darn good commander)
If those 5 players use their environment perfectly and make the 80 players pass through a chokepoint, where they can get nuked? Of course..
What I wanted to state was that, since you remarked the zerg on T1 is as big as the WvW population of T9, that WvW is too much number driven.. :p
Unfortunately we lose hard when the question “how big is your zerg” is raised though..
what zerg?
I guess, a single Millers Zergball at primetime is as big as your entire WvW population.
And thus proving my point that WvW is way too much defined by numbers and not nearly enough by skills portraited..
Vabbi and FoW were bad before they were outmanned. There’s a reason they’re in T9.
Of course, we are soooo bad, we have no idea how to capture a keep or tower, we have no clue what the underwater power nodes in homelands do, …
Ok, those fancy higher tiers might think they are better than the lower ones, but I’m sure they’re easily proven wrong.. It has been stated before: WvW nowadays is nothing more than a “how big is your zerg” battle..
Now they’re bad and outmanned. There’s a reason awful players in higher tiers are told to go back to Vabbi…..
Although they are our enemies, I don’t like how higher tier players really think they are so much more than a player on a lower tier server..
Please, if it’s merely a matter of skill (and not numbers): I’m sure most people at FoW/Vabbi would be glad to have some duels against those higher tier servers..
Unfortunately we lose hard when the question “how big is your zerg” is raised though..
We have very skillfull players on FoW, no doubt about that.. And indeed, that one commander who rather just stands around in the garrison derating other people and glorifying himself, he isn’t worth mentioning (by name)..
Have to say that we have some nice battles in T9 (although we’re almost always outmanned). Ok, when Arbor starts zergballing, then it’s just roam around and recapture, and hope you can outrun the zerg when you encounter them.. But in the small battles, I’m sure, that higer tier servers can learn a lot from us..
That being said: Cya this evening, Reaper
Red is dead. End of discussion.
This ^^
It is WvW after all, so expect some opposition..
OP isn’t kitten about PvE jumping puzzles where that one champion mob is between you and your reward chest? And bowing/waving won’t help your cause there..
However, have to add that a lot comes from my mood at that time.. If I don’t feel like killing, I’ll simply ignore the player (after his bow/wave). If I wanna kill, the /threaten emote is my friend.. If he doesn’t get the picture then, then he is in for yet another long walk from his waypoint to the JP.. Also, should he however attack me the first time and I am not planning on moving from that point, then he’ll be stomped every single time he tries to run past afterwards..
Remember, it’s a JP in a WvW area where most rewards are WvW oriented.. So if you don’t like the WvW aspect, stay out of the JP’s.. :p
I understand the frustration completely. But I’m a self-confessed Fissure of Woe loyalist and I enjoy playing on the Fissure of Woe server — there are some great players there, excellent people to talk with. I feel the same as Hamham: I’m having fun, and with my guildmates we have some epic battles!
I’m staying![]()
Say G’Day if you see us in WvW! (Or give [Alph] members a wave if you’re not on FoW!)
Same here: Chose FoW server in the beginning, will never change to another.. So enemy servers, also wave to that nice white armour wearing ranger from [WvW]
Sure BT is dominating us in score because they have such bigger numbers during the day, but during the night is when t9 is the most fun, when our numbers are near equal. Numerous times we’ve taken 90% of all maps and even more times all of EB. Just last night 3 guildies and I effectively spawn camped ~10+ BT in EB at Aldon’s tower while Vabbi and our Commander conquered most of the map. Small groups really make the difference in T9. Feel free to join us if you’d like
Awesome moments, when we from FoW can actually spawn camp other servers..
With the right traits and slot skills Rangers can be a nightmare 1v1. Don’t listen to people who try to say we can’t beat x class, its ignorant gibberish.
Hear hear!
Oh, I believe you, but how would having one/more legendaries make you a better player than people that don’t?
No reason to guest, I’d rather have you staying away as far as possible from our server, tbh..
You have two legendaries, and that is about to prove to us that you CAN play? kitten if you make statements like these: L2P!!!
And kitten stop trolling..
I’m serious?
I only troll when I’m bored. I’ll prove it today that I’m not useless in wvw with a ranger. Hard to believe right.
Nope, not at all.. Just don’t get it why you would post stuff that has (almost) nothing to do with the topic..
And trust me, I’m very aware that a ranger is awesome (in WvW, PvP, …). My main is a ranger, and she kicks kitten .
Ranger sucks at wvw. This is established. XD my ranger isn’t useless.
But it don’t like playing because pet at sucks.
Troll a lot, do you?
The build you mentioned should be viable in WvW, but as was stated somewhere in this topic: The build will not get you the kills, it’s the skills you show when playing the build that will yield the rewards.. And for that I might add that there are quite some ranger builds available to you..
I love how you put the focus here on crowd control, but it surely depends on how you want to play in WvW. Do you want to zergball along, or would you rather roam (solo/small group) around the map and flip camps, sentries and even some towers?
For your reference: Small YT vid about WvW ranger gameplay (capping camps, …):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ty7MP6M5_9c
Hmmz, you do know that you get only to lvl 80 on your char, and that’s it? And what do you do afterwards? You keep levelling and earning skillpoints..
It’s shocking that you deduce from the wiki that rank 150 is the max, and if it is, so what? Don’t think that everybody will attain that rank.. And what if you can keep earning WxP ability points afterwards (like the skillpoints on your normal levelling)?
Allow me to add my conditioner ranger without traps perspective:
Main weapon: Shortbow with Sigil of Corruption
Secondary (feel free to switch – I prefer the Longbow): Longbow / Sword+Warhorn / Greatsword
Armor/Trinkets: Power/Precision/Condition dmg
Use it mainly for Solo roaming..
This is indeed a very nice idea.. It has my vote!
Yeah, leave it to the zerglings and their “nerf confusion because I cannot spam 1 anymore with it”.. :/
Or to the more organized groups of 15 – 20 people?
I dont like zergs
Ah, that’s more like it.. imho anyone can give their input, except zerglings..
If it is the roamers that will have their say on changes in WvW this game is forever doomed!
Yeah, leave it to the zerglings and their “nerf confusion because I cannot spam 1 anymore with it”.. :/
