More ideas for stuff not on the survey:
-Cards. Not postcards. Trading cards. Playing cards. Card games (or GW2-themed expansions for existing card games). Lore tidbits. Skills. Images of fancy gear. Cards with some sort of link to view the featured objects/actions/creatures/characters in-game. etc., etc.
-Coins. Collectible currencies from the various “nations” (i.e. Kryta, Ascalon, Orr, the Legions, the Dominion of Winds, the Tethyos Houses, Jotun trading stones…), perhaps in “gold”, “silver”, and “copper” denominations, if you’re feeling fancy.
-Minis. Miniature figures, suitable for, as an example, insertion into tabletop RPG games’ homebrew campaigns that “someone” may or may not be writing… Or, you know, for collectors who don’t want to spend $50-$200 on hyper-detailed, 18"-24" statues.
-SPOONS! Dude. Guys. ArenaNet. You make collecting spoons a thing in GW2, and don’t capitalize on its popularity by issuing GW2-themed collectors’ spoons? Come on, now…
(edited by Trise.2865)
So do it. Here’s how:
First of all, you cannot use the Lv 80 Boost if you are already 80. It won’t let you.
Second, boosting to 80 does not give you free unlocks. It spends the Hero Points you would have gained normally to unlock all of your skills and traits. Any points you had from leveling won’t “vanish” per se, but they will be used. Points accumulated outside of leveling will be “left over” and available to use for your Elite.
“pets are terrible”, “nobody in their right mind uses an AI pet”, “Ranger shouldn’t exist because pets suck”
(someone figures out how to use pets to farm)
“stop using AI pets”, “AI pets are cheating!”
Dear Arenanet:
I’m playing your game a second time and don’t want to play the game a second time.
Plz fix, Thanks.
The Black Citadel isn’t a city. The entire structure is a giant machine that folds up onto itself, with the Core as its, well, core. Look around for the joints and non-fused gear plates throughout the “road” system and across the various structures and outcroppings. They’re at oddly specific angles for random scrap, but if you stand on them… they all bend toward either the center or another fold. I believe those aren’t roads at all. They’re walls.
Furthermore, I suspect the collapsed form is mobile, to some degree. I found structures resembling rocket boosters underneath the foundry, and plenty of designs resembling conveyors or some form of treads. I haven’t found anything resembling “hands”, or fine manipulation devices, so I surmise the collapsed form isn’t humanoid… perhaps a big tank or gyro wheel.
Birds on the hands, knees, crotch, chest, and face? perfectly fine. On the shoulders? nah, man, that’s too much!
I’d like to +1 on the idea of “transformation” gliders. I would love the idea of Ryu Hayabusa’s falcon teleport technique (I couldn’t find a better clip, sorry) or Strider Hiryu’s Option C hawk flight or his more mundane falcon glider.
Some existing transforms you can use: Batwing Brew (swarm of bats glider), Mist Form (fluffy cloud glider), Ride the Lightning (thunder cloud glider), Tornado (just because), Lich Form (again, just because) just about any Tonic transform, especially Reindeer and Glowing Bat.
Open your Story Journal on the Hero Screen (default: H). Click on the “Scarlet’s War” tab and select “Begin This Story”. Follow the Story instructions. That should explain everything you need to know in overview.
If you want more intricate details, pony up and buy Living Story Season 2, then play through it. I suggest buying the bundle pack, it’s more efficient. You might also consider picking up (and reading) the book ‘Edge of Destiny’. It explains not only some events referenced in the Personal Story, but also the story and fate of Glint, the draconic oracle whom Rytlock befriends in the Mists.
Or… you know… you could accept that you, the audience, don’t know what’s going on and move forward. Any reasonably intelligent person should be able to figure out the important bits through context:
“Who are these people?” They are your companions.
“Why am I acting like this?” Because you’re their leader… and your ships and friends got blown up by a jungle dragon, leaving you a bit salty.
“Who is that crazy Charr?” He’s very powerful. He knows more than you. He’s on your side.
“What’s up with this dragon/phoenix/ghost thingy?” Again, she knows more than you. She’s also on your side. She needs your help.
“What happened to ‘my’ Pact?” It was smashed to bits by the jungle dragon you wanted (and still want) to blow up… also it was never ‘your’ Pact.
“WTF? Caithe is evil?” She did something bad and you want to know why.
All of this, and more, is given to you in the first 10-15 minutes of Heart of Thorns, during the introductory mission required to enter. Everything else is part of the current story and told to you in context when necessary.
Spider-web parachute or vine/rope-swing animation, a la Spider-Man or Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. (I still want brachiating! it’s too awesome a word to not use)
Crackling Lightning “wings”, similar to the Stormrider Rig or Mardu Runemark from Magic: the Gathering.
A long cape, similar to Superman or Super Mario… perhaps with a Guild emblem
They’re called Outfits. I would recommend Arcane, Imperial, or Wedding for these purposes.
I think they had a similar idea… and the idea to charge $35 for it.

This is why they didn’t have raids in the beginning. This is why raiding was, and still is, a terrible idea. This is why people like myself hated World of Warcraft, etc., and liked the concepts presented in Guild Wars 2 early on.
But, no. You people wanted this. You kittened and moaned that you had to have raid content, that you needed to organize 50-player instances, that you didn’t like small teams and quick, digestible, 1-2 hour content that you could stack together like building blocks to create distinct experiences. No, you shouted and whined and stamped your feet until you convinced ArenaNet to rethink their designs, yet again… to try and shut you up for five bloody seconds so they could actually focus on designing awesome Guild Wars experiences.
You did this to yourselves. I do not pity you.
PS. This, by the way, is what toxicity looks like. Mods, do what you must, if you must.
I’m glad he’s dead, and better still, I got to deliver the killing blow! Thank you ANet!
That’s right! Rejoice that you betrayed and slaughtered a man who did nothing but support and encourage you, rely on you, and elevate you to positions of honor and respect that your skills deserved. Rejoice because you didn’t like his superior position, connections, strength, skills, morality, and knowledge.
Take that, Dad!
Did you know that the Charr have unique dialogues in both Divinity’s Reach and (especially) Ebonhawke/Fields of Ruin? The Humans do as well.
Did you know that Asura have atypical conversations throughout Metrica Province AND Caledon Forest?
Did you know that female Norn hear certain voiced lines that males don’t?
Races (and genders) are different, and sentient characters react to them differently based on personal prejudices and politics. That’s called “world building”. The Dragon Age and Elder Scrolls franchises, for example, are famous for it.
Yes, you can upgrade to Deluxe. There is an item in the gem store, similar to the original Deluxe Edition upgrade. It costs 2400 gems. The upgrade contains everything included in Ultimate except the discounted gems, which they are under no obligation to offer.

Masteries and XP should be one system not two
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Trise.2865
I have an idea that may satisfy most complaints, inspired by the very Metroid-vania genre that HoT seeks to ape, and it’s actually a remarkably simple change: have Mastery Points and MP Challenges unlock specific mastery tracks, which then must be “equipped” and then “leveled”. This allows clear and specific progression paths (“do X, then you can do Y, in order to do Z”), continues making levelling meaningful (realistically, people would identify that a skill exists, then, over time, learn how to do it), and tie progression to related actions (i.e. get better at gliding by getting better at gliding).
A further improvement, borrowed from Final Fantasy 9 and a few other RPG games, would let unleveled Mastery tracks provide benefits while it is equipped (perhaps to a slightly lesser degree?), and become permanently/fully unlocked once fully mastered with XP. This would allow not only immediate reward for performing Mastery Point challenges, but immediate benefit for doing so, while still encouraging development of those abilities.
Afterthought: It occurs to me this may violate the “play your way” philosophy ANet aspires to, and may very well block progress for players with no desire to perform certain tasks. This could be alleviated, though not easily, by allowing the mastery tracks to be unlocked by various methods (which itself poses a problem, as “certain players” will merely calculate which method is easier/quicker, then only ever do that).
I’m neither for nor against this idea in concept, but could you please elaborate on why exactly this is a good thing to include in-game as opposed to, say, personal blogs, websites, and/or youtube channels, which fulfill exactly the same purpose (minus the “sell on TP” function) and are just as easy to create and share?
I have to point something out here… Shiro, in this image, is wielding four swords at once. Two in his hands and two… coming out his bum? (Talk about a bad-A swordsman! literally!)
I, for one, am looking forward to our four-swords adventures with Shiro.
Confirmed: new back piece – “twin bum blades”.
Okay, so don’t pre-purchase. Discussion over.
So here’s a question… that “beta” character slot I/we get for pre-purchasing… we get to keep that, right?
Lore foul! Ventari was a pacifist to its furthest extreme. He would never lend his strength and abilities to any soldier or warrior, even for defense and healing.
And do you think a demon like Mallyx would help anyone?
I dont think the legends have much of a choice…
Yes! In fact, Mallyx is all about causing suffering and chaos. If he has to rely on puny mortals borrowing his powers to do it, then so be it. He’s just cranky because he wants to do the suffer-causing and chaosing himself… and that whole “greater good”, “in order to save whatever, whatever…” Bleh, who needs it? /evillaugh
You’re right though, it seems channeling a legend is more akin to a phone call from a rich and/or old relative… they can’t ignore us and can’t really hang up on us, no matter how they feel about it. But they can try to influence us not to call them again.
Even so, Wouldn’t using Ventari’s spirit this way be absolutely insulting, and downright blasphemous to the Sylvari? not to mention the Humans who may remember him? or the Norn who revere spirits above all else? (the Charr and Asura wouldn’t likely care, of course…) It would be like using the Holy Grail to heal/resurrect soldiers and win a war. Highly effective, to be sure, but insulting and offensive to Christians.
(edited by Trise.2865)
Lore foul! Ventari was a pacifist to its furthest extreme. He would never lend his strength and abilities to any soldier or warrior, even for defense and healing.
A few of his only lines:
“…peace is the path I walk. I must remain neutral.”
" I wish to live in peace, and you and your kind are not capable of anything but war. My kin are not much better, it is true, but I have chosen a different path."
[But the Mantle will kill us all!]
“I am sorry. I do not wish you ill, but neither can I help you.”
[Have you no heart?]
“If it is “heart” that brings one to kill another, then no I don’t. In these times, a peaceful mind does more good than a violent heart. …"
(from http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/White_Mantle_Wrath:_A_Helping_Hand )
Unless channeling Ventari also disables/replaces weapon skills, stealing his spirit to fight a war is a mockery of who he is and what he stands for.
Didn’t you go above the trees?
Sylvari desire peaceful coexistence. Your outraged, murderous tendencies are clearly the result of Mordremoth’s influence. Therefore you must be eradicated to protect what remains of the Pact and its leaders.
Also, we don’t like being called “salad”, meatbag.
Tell you what. Give me $200 USD and I’ll get the fanciest version available for you the instant it’s ready for purchase. You’re so eager to throw money at things, you may as well throw it at me.
First, that’s not what CBT means. Go ahead. Google it. I dare you.
Second, that’s not what CLOSED beta testing is. You’re thinking of “Open” (to the public) beta testing, also known as “Early Access” or a “Preview Demo”.
Third, that, what I just said, is not Beta testing, per se. Here, read, enjoy and revel in learning.

Ooh… a wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey shiny!
My dear teammates and Mesmer friends… Welcome to URF. (Ultra-Rapid Fire)
“This skill essentially gives the chronomancer a reset button and allows for tricks such as casting any skill twice, avoiding a killing blow, or simply tactically repositioning yourself.”
Together with Signets of Illusions and Mirror Images or dodge roll creates clones. It can be used infinitely."
- Dodge Roll (can be replaced with decoy) + Mirror Images > 3 clones
- Signet Of Illusions
- F5 Shatter
- Repeat and put spells in between you want to use infinitely
Well, no. See, you would have to use the Signet after using the shatter, but before it ends and goes on CD. Using the signet while active wouldn’t recharge the shatter because it will still be the secondary skill, and using it afterwards won’t refresh the signet.

That’s a curious idea, creatively. I like it. What would the mantra to convince something that it is a moa? hm…
Mechanically, the “angry chicken” could indeed be adapted into a Mantra, but as it is now, it is categorically a Glamour. Glamour spells affect the appearances and/or perceptions of things, both of which apply to Moa Morph (you make them look like chickens and think they’re chickens simultaneously).
A case could be made to classify Moa Morph as a Manipulation as well, but in my opinion it doesn’t quite fit. Here’s why: the player still controls the moa. The skills and appearance change, but the player can think tactically, make decisions, and react thoughtfully. None of those things an actual moa bird could do. Were the character fully transformed into a wild animal, he or she would behave on that animal’s natural instinct and impulse rather than tactics.
In the open world, this is a terrible idea. All it does is invite… let’s say “negative elements” into the community at large. The philosophy of GW2 is that a player should be happy to see other players in the field, and pitting people directly against each other with the ability to punish them for playing this way is counterproductive.
However, as an isolated Activity, a sort of “cops and robbers”, “sneak-thief”, or “serial murderer” style game one can play, this concept is much more interesting. It would be important to distinguish it from other Activities, such as the Lunatic Court variant on “hide and seek”, and other stealth/RP-style games, such as (Garry’s Mod) Trouble in Terrorist Town. I believe that a similar game could be great fun with the proper Guild Wars 2 flavor.

In order:
No.
How, exactly?
Don’t be a jerk.
Good idea. How do they keep the functionality w/o being an item? What do we click?
So use them up or buy the stacking gel… or just trash them.
You, sir, are decidedly wrong. Outfits are amazing or toggle them off.
They did. Boxes full of random rares – ascended isn’t enough to play the game for?
Why? Honestly, that’s pretty dumb.
There hasn’t been BL skins since Chainsword, unless you’re talking about the “box tops”.
Why? Crafting is barely content at all, let alone “endgame content”; minis are useless.
I don’t think you understand what DLC is, and the Living Story is free.
No; why should anyone move faster than others for random stuff? Also, what “skills”?
You already have that ability. It’s called a “notebook”; they cost less than $1 retail.
“Unbelievable”? Backpacks? You sure about that?
Sounds like driver issues to me. My pre-built doesn’t have that trouble.
Yes, it is. By definition expansion = update. Incidentally, expansion = DLC too…“cancer” indeed.
Literally none of the revealed Mastery features are item-based or activated via the inventory. As demonstrated, they toggle on and stay on once unlocked and activate automatically under the correct circumstances.
So, no… there likely will be no UI buttons added.
(edited by Trise.2865)
Why? People scream on roller coasters and they’re never in any actual danger, why not keep screaming after jumping off a cliff?
This is undeniably cool and interesting, but surely they’d save fancy particles and other effects for gem store skins and outfits, right?
Seems to me this break bar is less about “okay you hit it, then I’ll hit it, then we’ll be able to Freeze it… No! who Stunned it?! YOU FOOL!” and more “it’s about to do a thing! we have to stop it! STOP IT NOW! HIT IT WITH EVERYTHING WE’VE GOT!!”
/takes a breath
Yeah, I’m okay with that.
Entirely up to you. It’s a gamble.
If you want to take the “sure thing”, meaning the tasks and requirements that you know for certain, then you should get that done as quickly and efficiently as possible. This way, the expansion won’t affect you; you’ll already have your rewards.
If you’d rather gamble, then consider this: you were going to complete the new maps eventually anyway. If it doesn’t add to map completion, then there will likely be new rewards for doing so; if it does, well… you can’t leave that progress bar uncompleted, can you? regardless of the reward attached. That’s partly why you’re chasing the Legendary/ies in the first place: demonstrating mastery over the game.
At this point, either possibility is equally likely. However, I believe ANet would be wise to offer the expansion content through the Gem Store. They might lose some revenue that way, possibly, but far more would buy it there out of convenience rather than bother with the distro site or retail stores.
They would also be wise to have the retail version offer certain small bonuses, similar to the Deluxe Edition, built-in or automatically “unlocked” upon activation. If implemented, and also like the Deluxe Edition, this bonus content should be available in the Gem Store for a minimal cost (remember this is to encourage retail sales and draw attention, not punish everyone else). They should also offer a Collector’s Edition for crazy nuts like myself.
…I don’t think we’ve seen the end of exploration.
Of course we haven’t. But there’s “stop and smell the roses” exploration, and there’s “get across the street as fast as you can before you get hit by traffic” exploration. Lately, Guild Wars 2 has been far too much of the latter and not nearly enough of the former.
With all due respect, what game have you been playing? I often find myself wandering around places like Sparkfly Fen, Frostgorge Sound, and the Fields of Ruin – places that are actually war zones – for hours on end without fighting anything I didn’t deliberately engage and no events going off in my vicinity. Even Southsun Cove and Malchor’s Leap have significant down time where nothing happens. I’m sorry, but this hectic, frantic pace you describe simply doesn’t exist. If you don’t believe me, I’ll show you some games where the pacing IS frantic and we can compare.
Now, I do love me some exploration, I found Anton months before the Wiki knew about him, but except for one vista/puzzle in Caledon Forest (I’m sure you know the one… blasted skritt), I’ve never felt my exploration was hindered by action. To the contrary, actually, I’ve often found myself getting bored with the glacial pacing this game has at times. It’s not as shallow as Skyrim, certainly, but it could stand to be busier. Of course, I’d rather have events like cattlepult gambling than zombie invasions… which might be the core of this discussion, come to think of it: the same or more “volume” of content, but more ambiance and less action.
As a side note and random thought: if ANet could find a way for us to have our profession skills interact with the environment in specific ways, similar to the Divinity series – i.e. a fire arrow lighting a torch, or chill-inducing skills soothe an overheated Hylek or machinery – that could add some very interesting elements to exploration as well as this “build diversity” thing people keep complaining about. See also: Pokemon X/Y, specific attacks in specific environments “accidentally” reveal hidden items/treasures during combat.
Think about it like this: The Legends to the Revenant are like Jarvis to Iron Man. They follow his commands (most of the time), but they’re the ones doing all the work… and they know that.
Are there ways that other dragon minions can be saved? I would imagine that, once corrupted, the answer is no.
Both the case of Glint, and Arah path 3 say otherwise.
Now, there might be difference between beings corrupted into minions (Branded, Risen, Icebrood) and being created as minions (Destroyers, possibly at least some of the Mordrem). It is unknown where Sylvari lie in that distinction (but if the Trees are not just a preexisting race that Mordremoth captured and corrupted, but beings created to be his lieutenants, then all of us really need to take a pet Great Destroyer home to raise it with kindness).
Not exactly… Glint was never actually “corrupted” by Kralkatorrik. Like all the lieutenants, she was formed out of Kralkatorrik’s essence with a specific purpose (what that is or was, we don’t know, but we assume it is related to her prophetic abilities).
Through millenia of Kralky’s dormancy, Glint gained enough knowledge and experience to realize that she had a choice; and she could choose not to serve Kralky. This is similarly true of the Risen in Arah. Once the influence of Zhaitan was removed and The Source renewed; they became sentient enough to realize they didn’t have to obey anymore. I imagine this is the case with the Pale Tree as well. She knew and understood her purpose, but her environment and her upbringing taught her there was another, better way.
If anything, Glint and the Pale Tree were “corrupted” by goodness; by us. They prove that, though it may take countless influences and centuries of time, the Dragons’ influence can be overpowered and overwritten, even in their most powerful lieutenants.
Taunt, like Fear or Launch, cannot force an opponent off a cliff or ledge, else it would be unfair. It can, however, stop them from evading you or using other skills to harass you and defend themselves.
A Revenant calls upon the power of the mists, of memories and emotions, but does not necessarily call upon the properties of The Mists, i.e. pseudo-time travel, unparalleled durability and elasticity, fractal and fluxed location, etc..
From a technical standpoint, there are a few things we know about The Mists that will limit what a Revenant can or can’t do. The Mists are malleable, but also incredibly elastic. Rifts between this world and those are unstable at best, often closing immediately after forming, unless a tremendous power is applied to stabilize it (i.e. the combined power of the human gods). A Revenant could (and does) open a rift in space, but the “veil” would (and does) reseal itself instantly.
We also know that The Mists are not a single dimension, but a fluxed amalgamation of key events and memories frozen in time. While some portions of The Mists are more stable than others (the Hall of Heroes, for example, where PvP and WvW take place) without that same tremendous power mentioned earlier, there’s no guarantee one would connect to the desired portion without a powerful energy to lock on to. This also means the Revenant would not be more or less powerful inside The Mists – in the Hall of Heroes or exploring the Fractals – because the spirits from which they draw are still within their “home” dimensions, no closer or farther away than the “real” world.
Similarly, a Revenant is different from a Ritualist, whose communion with spirits shaped their core emotions and attributes into bound forms. The Revenant communes more directly with spirits from The Mists, channeling specific beings through their body drawing on their power, but also inviting their influence. Both Jalis and Mallyx can be heard speaking to the Revenant when he channels them.
From this we can draw two conclusions: The spirits channeled by the Revenant must be powerful enough to breach the Mists on their own (though not necessarily enough to escape The Mists), and these spirits must form connections to the Revenant via willing contract. For example, a Revenant can draw upon Jalis Ironhammer, a powerful hero and friend to all races, but could not draw upon The Maw, a mindless entity whose only drive is to consume. In some cases, the spirit may have its own ulterior motives, such as Mallyx, whose “services” are powerful, but exact a toll of sorts from the Rev.
A Revenant could not, for example, commune with his/her dead relatives. The Rev wouldn’t know how to find them in The Mists without a guide and unless they had dramatic impact on history, not just the Rev his/herself or a small community, would not be strong enough to reach out and channel. Revenants could, theoretically, allow their senses to “wander” The Mists, listening to any Spirits who wish to call out, but again, unless a spirit and its desire to contact the Rev was particularly powerful, it would be simply background noise; voices in a crowd.
Hope this helps.
(edited by Trise.2865)
Dear fellow player,
No.
- The Revenants.
Man, I remember when everybody said the Elementalist was OP… then the Warrior was “uncounterable”, and the Ranger had “unstoppable burst” to “compensate for the Pet”, then Necromancer was “unkillable”, and so was the Guardian… etc., etc. …
Good to see you guys haven’t changed.
Keep making everything look massively overpowered, ANet. Good job. /salute
(Legendary Prince) Rurik is pretty much a given. After all, it was Sohothin and Adelbern’s crown that unlocked these powers. His soul is connected to Sohothin as Adelberns’s was/is to Magdaer, and is likely the source of Rytlock’s new prowess (incidentally… whatever happened to Eir’s plan to fix Magdaer? I guess she gave up on it, but still…). Chances are, Rurik would be hasty-support, emphasizing rushing forward and helping allies move more quickly – similar to old Paragon builds – with a subtheme of fire and flames. If not, then it probably should be… just sayin’.
I think we’re going to get Glint as our Legendary Dragon stance, though that has a dangerous precedent and implication. The spirit of Glint is inexorably connected to Kralkatorrik and may have the same corrupting influence Jormag has over the Sons of Svanir who channel it. On the other hand, Glint did have eggs (which were mercilessly slaughtered in the name of achievements back in the day); it’s possible Glint’s Egg may yet play a role. Personally, I’d much rather see Kuunavang or Shiny as our Legendary Dragon spirit. Both would likely specialize in prolonged encounters; sustained damage with focus on health regeneration, and maybe some star-themed skills if it is Kuun.
I think (Legendary Assassin) Shiro Tagatchi would be an excellent candidate. His skills translate nicely into GW2’s mechanics, plus Shiro kind of got a bad rap. He was tricked and corrupted, it’d be interesting to see what he would do without those influences, and if he has anything to say about it, UI-wise. Naturally, his skills would focus on extreme, Thief-like mobility and area damage.
As much fun as it might be to channel Jora or Olaf, I think if there’s going to be a Legendary Norn/Warrior, it has to be Aesgir Dragonrender. The name says it all… dude rent a dragon (tooth). We don’t know much about him personally, though, only that his connection to the Spirits of the Wild was unusually strong, and he was powerful enough to punch Jormag in the face. (slash, actually, but.. Norn do love to embellish, don’t they?)
Dhuum or Menzies would be kitten, but there’s no chance Rytlock would ever draw powers (directly) from a god, dead or otherwise. Who knows? maybe one of them reformed (or, not being one of The Six, fears the Dragons) enough to capsulize their powers and approach the Charr “invader”. Dhuum would obviously focus around ice and control, while Menzies would channel explosive flames and berserk rage.
Here’s everything we know so far, specific to the Druid:
Druid is the Ranger’s new Specialization
Druids will be able to wield a Staff
The Druid’s Staff has a ranged attack that summons a vine; possibly a new “wave” attack
Druids still have/use Pets
That’s about it for now.
Our best source of information about the Revenant is Rytlock Brimstone himself, the so-called “first Revenant” and supposed trainer of all future Revenants. A brief study of his skills and exploits reveals some possible hints. For example:
In the game, Rtylock uses a Pistol in his off hand, even before his venture into The Mists. As that is something no other Warrior does, it is fair to assume that other Revenants will use the Pistol. Similarly, in Edge of Destiny, then-Legionnaire Brimstone proved himself quite adept with Rifles, Axes, Shields, and Hammers, despite Sohothin being his primary weapon most of the time.
(edited by Trise.2865)
…only if that Druid is also Norn. Transforming into animal spirits is kind of their thing.
I feel it necessary to point out that the “base class” is itself a specialization; merely the one that you started with. (ADD says: A thought occurs… Can new characters “specialize” at creation, unlocking the ability to change at 80, as normal?)
At the risk of putting words into ArenaNet’s mouths, it is probable that there will be at least a few new toys with the expansion besides specializations. They did state outwardly that the trait system, or at least the unlocks for it, will be revamped again. This would be the perfect opportunity to add some new traits and/or fiddle with existing ones to make more interesting choices.
A warning: Let us not get carried away with inference. Reading “between the lines” can only lead to disappointment, especially if there was nothing there to begin with.
