It’s not your GPU, I have the HD 7850, and always have 60-80 fps, sometimes reaches 100fps.

that’s without VSync on.

yeah, with VSync stops at 60fps, supposedly this improves the appearance but I see no difference

I see a HUGE difference. It makes moving the camera like butter and so fluid. With it off, it just looks “off”. Nothing you can see as easily as ou can feel it though.

I would leave Post Processing on if it wasn’t for the bloom.

This pretty much sums up how I feel about HDR/Bloom in general.

This is so true. The game looks better with PP off, but you lose some of the original intent of colors.

As far as I’m concerned, this wasn’t a test of skill, but rather a test of patience. It has so much to do with skill as it does with patience to try it over and over again and, ultimately, luck.

This is most of the most accurate posts so far.

Having to wait for each player to die, as well as watching that cutscene over and over and over is what zaps a lot of people’s patience. Here’s the thing: when every player falls off the course, the timer (the event bar in the upper right) for the next round jumps ahead and goes faster. However, when it reaches about 90%, it crawls to a snails pace and takes like 7 seconds to reach the end! A full 7 seconds! Then you watch the cutscene for about 3 seconds before you can start. This may not seem like much but when you multiply it by all the tries one needs, it really adds up. Every 6 tries and you’ve wasted a minute. Attempt it 50 times? Almost 6 minutes is wasted just waiting to restart. And I haven’t even mentioned the worst thing of all – that 7 seconds can get longer if everybody dies not that far in on the course. In fact, unless you make it very far each time, you will have to wait for this “buffer” time, even when you are alone. The removal or speeding up of this one area would make it so much better.

I love getting no help (I can understand why, having posted this so late though), but fortunately I was able to fix it myself.

What I did: Copied my DAT file and it tried updating it on another computer. Then copied that new DAT back to mine and tried running the game. Success! I haven’t been having any disk problems, so I don’t think that was a fault of my hard drive. I think it was a side effect of the update. I recently ran Checkdisk a couple weeks ago too. The only thing is my drive is very close to being at full capacity. Anyways, like I said, the problem is fixed. And for anybody wondering, yes I make weekly backups, that way if there really is a silent killer waiting, well I have a backup of all my data.

HISTORY: I have had no previous GW2 problems. My game has always launched correctly, ports are open, and my AV and FW are configured right. Plus, my drivers are up to date. I have made no recent changes to my computer, and I ran -repair after getting this error once, but it didn’t help.

The recent 11/1 update that was put live has barred me from playing GW2. When I start the launcher, it shows it downloading one file. Everything goes fine, but once it reaches 13.91mb, it freezes and then crashes completely. Restarting the launcher results in the same thing – 13.91, freeze, crash. My error log is below, behind the spoilers. It’s so big that I had to do it in multiple posts.

Alternate Death Shroud - ramping change

This isn’t a super serious suggestion, just one that I thought of out of the blue that seemed interesting so I’ll mention it.

At the moment, there are 3 classes with profession abilities that “ramp up”. Warrior – (the more adrenaline they get, the better the burst skill is.), Mesmer (the more Illusions, he larger the damage and effects), and Necromancer (the more life force, the more time inside of DS and higher #1 ability damage).

What if instead of the Necromancer’s damage ramping up, it was more powerful when you had very little of it instead? It would sustained damage/average at high death shroud (with the benefit being survivability), but it would be a burst at low death shroud (at the expense of survivability). Not sure how great this would actually translate into reality, but it would make it different than the other ramping up abilities with the usual more = always better. Death Shroud then could function as a pure glass cannon tool or DoT/survival. And since Death Shroud is +critical damage and +life force, it still would benefit both options well.

It could be taken further too – what if Death Shroud was a combination of 3 weapons, based on how much life force you had when you enter? Like one set of skills at 1-33% LF, another at 34-66%, and then 66-100. This is just brainstorming though.

I didn’t give up on it but I was pretty close to. I attempted it HUNDREDS of times before I was finally able to do it. Then I beat it twice. I could have done it more but I was trying to do the “hard” left path and wasn’t fast enough.

I think what is most hard about this puzzle is the speed requirement. I was consistently at the front of my packs, yet I still was close to dying after the long chest jump. Not a lot of margin for error.

What do you think about this option?

No way! The daily one is ok but the monthly one, that’s bad. Yearly should mean you have all year to complete it. But if you miss just one month with what you suggested, your’e screwed and don’t have the full year to complete it. Yearly doesn’t mean takes a full year, it just means once per a year. Likewise, the daily and monthly achivements in game don’t take a full day to do either.

…to me these screen you all posted mostly look worse than standard client rendering, with few exceptions.

Mostly is about a shifted and compressed gamma, which naturally leads to more saturated colours (RGB represented ofc) , deeper blacks, more contrast and thus less dynamic range.

I do prefer much better the muted colours of the standard rendering than most of these experimentations, which i agree are funny to play with, but that rarely can bring something good.

PS: I’m a photographer, so my opinion is biased.

I’m not a photographer, but I have similar knowledge.

I haven’t installed it, but I think it makes the game look a lot better due to the increased contrast. I think the game could benefit from some microsharpening or other treatment to get rid of the grey hazy tone it can take on at times. I am too afraid of being banned, but I would like to have JUST that feature alone.

Cause nobody else would be there otherwise. The kills take forever, you can easily get ganked, and it kills your performance. They need to encourage people to play though so it’ sa monthly.

This is the dumbest thing in the game and yes, I’m extremely pissed about it too. Already posted about it once but I’m doing it again. Doing the WvW part is not fun and now all that time was wasted. I only had 100 or so salvages to do and could have easily done that before the server time became midnight. I could have even bought a bunch of crap and salvaged that in a minute that if I was running out of time. Now I have a bunch of salvage kits in my inventory ,all wasting space, that will take forever to be used up, and salvage isnt’ even part of this month’s monthly.

There better be an official response on this.

My daily reset but wtf – why did it reset already!? It’s not even November on ArenaNet’s server time! I could have finished it if it ACTUALLY changed when the month changed. I only had to salvage some items. Now the monthly has dungeons and some other ??? crap. I am so pissed.

This new FOV reduces my already poor performance. I am on a low end system, but I’m mainly wondering: is this change also also CPU dependent? I know the game uses more CPU than GPU, but this change makes me think it could be GPU based, and I could simply upgrade my graphics card to offset the frame rate hit (much easier than buying a new motherboard and cpu). Any developers wanna comment?

If you use the trebuchet, try using it correctly for once. It makes me rage when I see idiots grabbing it (which seems to be 24/7).

If you do not demolishing the map first (the house, the sewer pipes, etc), then you should get off it. By demolishing the map, it lets you see enemy players are they move around with the trebuchet so you can hit them (without it they can hide behind props) and it gives your team increased mobility (now you can jump over the pipe section and through the house).

With mesmer it is just you have a lot of evading and moving abilities so, in the end you just deflect your damage, not absorbing it.

Yes! I love Blink for one. You’d think with the cripples Necro has, it would compare, but it didn’t really.

On a side note, I found Shattering to quite fun, even if it resorted to illusion spam to shatter. I really like the trait that removes boons on shatters and Ether Feast was really reliable too, it was easy to continually meet the requirement for 2-3 illusions. Somehow I didn’t get the same reaction with Consume Conditions.

I know we have Death Shroud and yada yada, but I changed from Necromancer to Mesmer in sPvP to see how it would go. The results: I barely ever died. I was more mobile and WAY more defensive than Necromancer (sword offhand, teleports, that phantasm that takes half your damage, distortion). There was really no comparison. Maybe the playstyle of Mesmer fits me easier, but back on Necromancer, it feels like when something happens, there’s not as many hard counters to get away or reduce damage. Blind is only on 2 skills, spectrals are long recharge, going into Death Shroud takes away my normal good bar… Are we really that bad off?

You’re getting into the realm of GW1 with your proposed changes. Sadly, the name of the game is simplicity. They don’t want people to have to remember a whole bunch of specific hexes (like GW1), why so many skills are simple in nature, nor do they want another condition removal vs hex balancing issue, which is they they split them up.

I am trying to get extra inventory by dumping items to alternate characters, but I realized you can’t move soulbound items like this. Why can’t we move them over, just not be able to equip them? It achives the same purpose and is more flexible. As it is, I’m wasting a lot of space by not being able to move stuff from my bank to other characters due to it being soulbound by default.

I did some digging and found out my hunch was correct – my system is secure, it just wants me to choose a longer password for the sake of being a longer password. To me, this is coming off like the FOV excuses (not legitimage). I guess 8 characters with numbers too is not good enough? It’s not a common word or something either. Guess I’ll change it but not happy at all, why change passwords for no good reason? This was one of the easiest ones I had.

Never had password problems in the past, and my computer is secure. Is this showing up because there were 2 other connections going on at the same time? I noticed under account management my IP is showing as having being connected 3 times… like it shows up 2 minutes ago, 1 minute, and then currently. When I click disconnect I get the generic browser 404 page but they are disconnected too. I really don’t want to have to change the password, as I already have so many I need to remember. I’m hoping this is just related to the disconnect issue and not really necessary.

I don’t play RIFT, but I was looking into it recently. To me, on the surface, it looks like Necromancer in GW2 is Rift’s Warlock.

I understand the casual approach GW2 takes in general, but man, looking at GW1 and Rift with their specialized professions and not overly simplified skills makes me very envyous of what is capable.

I made a bunch of potions, but now i’d like to give 1 to each person. Problem is most are made in stacks of 5 and I can’t figure out to separate them into 5 stacks of 1.

Iron Ingot is out of place for Artificers

Iron Ingot is a req 75 material… however for artificers it’s req 25. The tooltip shows 25 and it’s even used in crafting a req 25 item, “Weak Potion of Flame Legion Slaying”. This doesn’t make any sense though. You can’t craft it at 25 and you can’t even collect the ingredients required in low level areas. Maybe you could replace the Iron Ingot in the recipe for a lump of tin instead? Or does iron ingot drop in the Charr areas? If it did that might make sense but it still feels out of place.

Discovered something new.

The Mark of Blood created with Mark of Evasion is a blast finisher. Easy test: create a Corrosive Poison Cloud then dodge to your enemy while in it – the combo heart over your head comes up area weakness every time.

This same exact topic was brought up a couple weeks ago too. They also mentioned how the Risen Undead get better animations than us, with like the green poison well. Kinda sad – even the undead are stronger than us!

No, I haven’t quit. However, I have basically quit WvW and large scale dynamic events where I get less than 10 fps. My computer is old but man, that is really bad. I think it’s like 7fps. That’s too low for even me to handle.

Terror scales of condition damage, hence why might had an effect (might giving 35 condition damage as well as 35 power now), since it is a condition I dont think it can crit. but i could be wrong.

Weird, it DOES scale with condition damage. That might be why I thought it was critical hitting, though the damage it was goin up was like 1.49, not perfectly 1.50x but so close it looked like the base 1.50×. Fear doesnt’ normally deal damage at all, yet there’s this. Weird.

This has probably alrady been suggested, but as I can’t find anything in this forum on searches, I’ll start my own.

Can you please introduce trial keys? They don’t even need to be free like in GW1, they could even be a couple of dollars if it had to be that way. It would help bring new players to the game or anybody who is unsure. The trial could be limited to so many levels or amount of days.

I am not talking about control + shift + H then print screen and back again nor am I talking about a single press of a button to hide the UI and take an image.

I am talking about Shift + Printscreen, which auto hides the UI and takes an image, like in GW1. I can’t find my source, but I am pretty sure this was planned for GW2 as well. However, it doesn’t hide the UI like it should.

I decided to do a quick trait test to see if I could find any bugs myself. I choose a simple trait, Terror.

Testing it resulted in really weird results. In the mists, using a steady weapon, I noticed the trait’s damage does not scale with +power from armor, sigils, or the spite tree. It doesn’t even scale with normal weapons with variable damage! It just deals a flat 392 damage, regardless of the armor strength of the test dummy I used. The damage does scale with might however and can critical hit too. However, when it criticals, it never factors in critical damage (just uses the 1.50x base) and never shows the critical hit blotch of blood with large text. The damage seems to scale with level though in PvE.

I also noticed that Death Shroud skill #3, Doom, does damage, though the tooltip doesn’t mention it. The damage amount is extremely low however, like only 4-6 damage. Somehow I seemed to get variable results from it even when using a steady weapon, no traits, no amulet, and no armor.

Another thing – was transfusion fixed. I saw mine healing for 417hp. Still stupidly low, but at least it’s paying attention to +healing.

Doesn’t Weaking Shroud have a text bug? It casts Enfeebling Blood at your location when you enter death shroud. Really a big shame, as I would like to use it otherwise at long range.

Option 1 – Leave everything as is, remove the 30s limit (minion armies)
Option 2 – Summon a random minion on death (no idea what percentage)
Option 3 – Corpses you are near explode
Option 4 – Whenever you kill something, you and your minions are healed
Option 5 – Whenver you kill something, allies near you are healed
Option 6 – Your minions regenerate health when they attack
Option 7 – Every time you inflict a condition, you gain toughness for X seconds
Option 8 – Every time you kill an enemy, your minions health and toughness is increased (max 26 charges, ends on down).
Option 9 – Everytime you summon a minion, there is a 40% chance to summon a second one
Option 10 – Minions have a ?% chance to resummon themselves upon death

It doesn’t change your resolution in real time, I’m not sure how it works but it produces massive dimension pictures.
