Is the limit a set limit or a range based on available server resources? Also, why are details not released?

At launch I believe the number 150 people per server per map was kicked around, but from on the ground experience it feels like more like 80-100 these days.

We went and pushed on a T3 WP’ed Bay hard. Drained 500-700 supply and made KN sweat a little. I wasn’t really in the land of the living at that point but it was fun either way. I suspect we didn’t take bay soon after that point, but I can dream that we did.

Another thing I wish Anet would add would be a limit on how many players can use a tower/keep portal door in a say, 2 second window. A limit like 10 people per second would prevent huge portal bombs from keeps and towers and encourage more players to either 1) jump off walls (spec drop damage traits!) 2) use portals 3) use other parts of the tower 4) encourage defenders to pick at the sides of the zerg 5) setup open door/wall killzones and then push out of the breach… 6) etc

As it is, any coordinated guild can bomb 40 people out of a portal with stability to spare and effectively clash with an unsuspecting hostile zerg mob and melt them in seconds. Putting 10 people per second limit on a gate wouldn’t prevent this tactic, but it would certainly give people time to react to it. A mesmer portal takes time to become active, this is a deliberate choice. A gate is almost instant and currently infinite.

Some people are confused. It isn’t polite to make fun of confused people. Sometimes confused people need more time to process information. Sometimes confused people will remain confused…

I hate scrolling past all these walls of text! I am just happy that we have such an evenly matched tier. Imaginary 2v1’s or not, almost everyone should be happy with the 24/7 fights on all the maps. It sure beats a blowout…

The reason people are zerging more is because of WXP and the end of culling. While I’m sure we will see more zerging, the meta wvw will change again and then the collective wvw community can move to crying about the new meta that a post culling world allows.

Nice saves on TC BLs Bay PRO. If you had been 30 seconds slower on many occasions then some of these people would really be crying. Can’t wait for more good fights and zerging like the ravenous undead later this week!

It’s a broken system anyway. Just got to rename karma farm to Wxp farm and we are good to go.

Anet missed an incredible opportunity to reward the guys who defend those camps, buff those yaks, build oil, and all those little things that make those wooden structured turn into actual fortifications.

Building up a broken cannon/oil should = WxP. Repairing a gate is currently the only outright “defensive” thing that currently rewards WxP if a tower/keep/castle is defended or lost.

Someone awesome (Hydro <3) suggested that there be WxP based yak escort upgrades that people could build on yaks such as a potent flamethrower. Give people that want to escort yaks and sit in towers on sentry a reward or small advantage like the current system rewards zerging!

Hi, I am TC commander that loathes Mumble/VoIP. TC is a pretty great server and there is always room for anyone big or small and even crazy people like me that will only rarely use VoIP. The vast majority of our player-base is in a small guild (less than 30 people, 10 or so active) and we would love to have you.

That said, if I was going to transfer anywhere, it would be to a T7-T4 server. I miss ninja’ing keeps all the time and in T2 that is much much harder to do.

I was avoiding naming the guild and server because I have a lot of respect for these folks and those who have paid close attention to these forums know who I’m talking about anyhow. It wasn’t fictional, and the bans were real and taken from WvW. They reported seeing anet-tagged players following their zerg for a full week before it happened.

I’ve been in game and fighting merrily along in WvW next to someone and then suddenly they pop an anet tag, whereas before they were guildless, or in another guild. They do send anet folks into game, I imagine both for diagnosing bug issues but also to monitor. If these guys are seeing griefing going on while they’re in there, they’re going to flag their own guys, too. The guy next to you in WvW could be an anet dev.

But they don’t even have to do that, which is my point. They can simply use tracking systems to monitor player behaviour and determine if griefing was invovled or not. It’s not hard to see transaction history, for example, of buying ‘merchants’ over and over again, nor is it hard to see 100 rams being built repeatedly, and no other activity by that player. It’s harder if the player just stands at spawn and does nothing but relay info back to their team, but I imagine because anet owns the software, they could easily monitor and review chat logs too. But I’d think they wouldn’t start doing that unless a complaint was received.

But the onus is on us the players to report this stuff. Out of the thousands of players in game, it’s like a needle in a haystack, unless they’re pointed in the right direction.

The reason that spying is low is that it diminishes using in game communication tools to relay commands. Do we really all want to log on to secure chat programs just so we can communicate to one another without a likelyhood of being compromised? Why should this be acceptable? In Tier 1 there are rumors of mumble DDoS attacks and worse. To anyone saying “all is fair”, I would like to say, go to Eve. It is the most paranoid MMO game on the market and with good reason. Do we want to collectively turn WvW into Eve? I sure don’t. I quit Eve to get away from that kitten.

Also real spying carries risk, in this game, there is no risk in being a spy other than some gold. So yeah, GW2 spying is even more honor-less than usual and any win you may garner for your server comes at a cost of fun for casual players.

Well now I don’t feel bad about spending a thousand badges so i could joyride some omega golems. Looks like I’ve got plenty of time to make more. (Kitten the jumping “puzzle” too!)

Anet has said many times that any behavior that might be an exploit should be reported to their exploits@arena.net email. Posting “proof” (that’s for anet to decide) in a forum thread is generally unhelpful at discouraging aberrant behavior.

On the other hand, talking to a guild leader allows a guild to take action without a verdict from Anet. Guilds generally like to maintain an image and that is what the above exchange is most likely about.

Nothing sinister is at play.

Seriously, WvW is nothing without players. The PvE player that might be interested in WvW could be reading our match threads. Trolls feeding each other is not what WvW is about. Let us keep our meta WvW community healthy and bring more players into the Mists. More players equals more killing. Everyone wins.

As someone very smart said, “More signal to wipe out the noise.” – Lets do this going into next week, and try to contribute positively, not just for our own servers, but for the greater WvW community that reads this forum.

I would say most of the TC is anti-troll and is quiet disappointed (to be polite) in those who decided that trolling was the best way to go about things. Even though I wasn’t a part of it, I want to say sorry aways, trolling is never cool, especially against a server we had an awesome, friendly rivalry against (which I do hope we can go back to).

On a different note, besides the trolling, it has been an awesome match week. Kudos to KN for its win and FA for being awesome opponents.

This! Also the match finishing all within 30k from each other is a photo finish as far as WvW is concerned. Thank you for the week of fighting, and here is to another week starting tonight!

(Something tells me next week is going to be even closer, and hopefully, a little more troll free.)

Yeah but it slows them down a great deal if they only have rams. Two carts can save the garrison water gate by buying additional time for instance. Two carts on any gate with a gap pretty much rules out all but the most coordinated ram assaults which is pretty helpful no?

And I was joking because really the whole “yuo atuo attak gates kitten #8221; thing is so old by now that I wanted to have some fun with it.

Is that a joke? Because if you put the carts out of range where people can’t aoe them so easily, that lessens the range of the operator on the cart (we know what happens if you put them in range). So if said 80 people fan out and just flash build catas, they can not only destroy the gate/wall and arrows carts, but avoid constant fire too. Edit: But even if they don’t build siege and just continue to auto attack, simply fanning out, strafing, and dodging will defuse any arrow cart damage in the secs it’ll take you to headbang gate open.

And who is afraid of arrow cart fire except for glass cannons when you’re in a group of apparently 80? There’s bound to be a support class or ten floating about.

edit: last time I played Yaks they were getting transfers and a boost so maybe I remember them stronger than they are currently. I personally learned a lot about how to hold Cliff and Longview from them. Something about upgrade early and often then cover it in trebs?
