Does anyone actually like Breakouts? I feel like the NPC cheapens player accomplishments like taking a tower or breaking into a borderland. Maybe I just want my WvW PvP game to be about players, not some meta mechanic that makes me feel helpless / lazy.

Whatever, people on TC know I loathe this Breakout thing.

Anybody upset at the matchmaking algorithm? I mean we win by quite a lot every week and continue to lose points. We will most likely be playing the same servers for at least a month.

Having played BG and SoR, I can safely say TC isn’t on their level. However, the matches I did play with them were pretty much 1v1 affairs as the other server tended to give up and not play.

If TC played like we did last night, we would be in T2 and getting “nightcapped” hard, but we would be competitive in T2. I know that yesterday isn’t our normal level of play/players since Borderlands never have queues except on the weekend. Also from a commander point of view, people were very focused yesterday as well, I loved it, it made my role as a commander easy.

Overall, I am not upset at the matchmaking setup they have. If we want change, we have to go out and get it. That change for TC is more likely T2 than T4. That same match-making system reflects it.

CD and FA both have numbers to be offensive and defensive so I am pretty happy with this match up. No disrespect to Yaks who may read this. Their skill bumped them temporarily up to T3 despite their population but as their fortunes waned so did some warriors. In that vain, I would love to see who would stick around if TC got rocked in T2.

I am just curious for curiosity sake, but why the switch back? I am sure lots of people would want to know this too.

Personally, I wasn’t a huge fan of the trial method but it might have grown on me. Not that anyone should have to let an imperfect system grow on them, but “That’s life.”

Edit: Arkard.3970, you might want to explain that those values are from that website that projects potential server rankings and trends. It took me a bit to figure out what I was looking at, but, yeesh, I guess were going to be together forever.

That’s the reason I decided to start commanding again. For a while I was pretty much ready to say goodbye to the game.

If a little forum drama brings more players to WvW then I am all for it.

The Yak Thing, I knew it was going to happen when I showed up and saw the vast majority of people in attendance being TC and CD. There were a few FA (you’re awesome) but as soon as I saw who was there I mumbled “Oh, here we go…”

No, I don’t think anyone on TC is really upset, just a little disappointed that select FA participated the way they did.

I think we are all looking for excuses to bash skulls. In my case, I think some mock outrage is entertaining. No I don’t really want to “Make FA BLEED!” but that doesn’t stop me from using that spirit in /team to rally people together and take some towers/keeps.

Give TC some reason to do some light-roleplay and we will.

Now, back to your regular faux-outrage.
(I do hate exploiters though.)

I had a lot if fun today/tonight in TC BL. To the Tc people there with me those quiet hours were fun but dealing with KH’s rampage on the bay with a helping of FA to worry about, well, it was fantastic. I had so much fun I stayed up to round two just now with e—- something guild. It was a lot of fun dying a lot.

I logged on today and totally got to quote starwars. Thanks for poking us guys, I think TCs regular crew was on the verge or a coma two weeks ago and this might have woken us up a little.

As far as t2 goes, were never going to get there without intense teamwork (yb vs tc vs fa week1 yaks hit way above their population. Or, a wvw guild covering our off hours, which we have about 8 of.

CDs kh guild is really strong on the field and around a tower. I die to you a lot.

FA do you like my rams? I built them just 4 u.

don’t forget, though, TC is the NA unofficial RP server as well. while the overall server population may be full or high, there are a lot of people who have no intention of entering WvW whatsoever. there are three highly populated taverns in divitny’s reach alone, and then there are the other cities to take into consideration, as well as the entire rest of the PvE map…

The queue to get into the Busted Flagon can get insane! But I know someone. :p

TC is a PvE server by nature.

I guess that makes our WvW people even more committed. And a little light RP in showing sacrifice for the Coast or to those Golem Gods can go a long way…

Most people are not mature enough to “just let drama happen” and then a moderator has to come in and sprinkle infractions on people.

Also too much drama and it will impact the state of the game and its player-base. Personally, I am still enjoying plenty of tears from select FA members.

You guys (the ones crying, not all of FA) just don’t stop do you?

If TC went up up T2 to get curb stomped I would say “Kitten yeah!” TC doesn’t mind losing, and losing hard just as long as we get to fight in the process. We are fighting now, don’t get me wrong, but this fight is somewhat wanting.

TC is used to constant change. I think we came up from rank 14 to 7 over the past 3 months with many weeks of transfer super servers punctuating that steady rise with an almighty kitten whomping. I say bring on the pain.

This is why FA is failing. Your attitude is toxic to the rest of the people on your server that just want to killkillkill and have fun. Keep it up and your core players will leave for greener pastures.

It is war baby! There is a distinct difference from 1v1v1 (what is happening) and 2v1 (what you think you’re seeing.)

I tried to use FA last week to weaken Yak’s garrison and push inside after wiping FA in the field, but the yaks defense was too strong and we were pushed out shockingly fast. Now it was a gamble to try for Yaks garrison and we gave up a perfectly good wooden hills keep we had ninja’ed from FA to attempt this attack. In retrospect some people said “would have, could have” but that is just the nature of WvW, it is messy and things don’t go to plan. Next time I am trying something like the above I am leaving a token defensive force to gain the most out of an assault like that because you never know when the other teams are going to capitalize on your mistakes.

1v1v1. Not 2v1. Saying 2v1 is laughable.

It is scary to aim for 1st when it looks “impossible.”

People will also just attack random stuff.

Trying to get TC people to transfer is pretty much like asking a cat to fetch you your slippers. It isn’t going to happen. TC is pretty awesome and I feel bad for other servers “NotTC”. Our slow trickle of transfers tend to stick around because of our militia type organization (which we are losing a little focus on according to my whine post above) and overwhelmingly friendly /team chat.

No one who is anyone is going to transfer off. Nice try though~!

That said and with my whine out of the way, I know I personally need to be a better commander and player if I want to shake things up. I think TC needs to get used to deploying a well timed and placed arrow cart or balista in large scale field battles and get the appropriate people (low levelers?) on that siege. We need to educate people more and put a “yaks level” emphasis on defense and an “FA focus” on offense.

The tools to learn are right in front of us TC, so lets get to work!

TC doesn’t run a vent/TS/Mumble outside of guilds. We use /team for 90% of our info.

I too dislike how “soft” and zergy TC is becoming. Three weeks of getting the absolute kitten kicked out of us honed our commanders and core players into beasts. Now those commanders log on but once in a while and that core player base is often left with the mess the zerg leaves behind (building defenses, begging people to run supply for repairs/defensive siege) while that same zerg bashes its head against a door or wall ineffectively.

That said, FA leads the mightiest zerg, but that is what happens when you neglect your own borderlands to attack TC.

Yes that was a bit of a whine post, but I wanted to echo some feelings I am seeing expressed in this thread. I would love to be playing of course, but I am stuck on my double shift. Hooray.

Queues on every map… good lord. I don’t even think all the T1 servers do that anymore.

This only happens on Friday and Saturday nights during “primetime” which is somewhere between 3:00pm PST and 10:00pm PST.

Server dynamics (barring large population shifts) dictate that TC will continue to win, and arguably TC’s actions have more to do with FA and YBs placing/scoring then FA and YB do themselves….that last point is the potential issue.

I disagree! Your server has more control over its fate than another server. If you believe it is a population issue that is preventing your server from better performance do your best to foster a community that people want to be a part of and people will come to you.

TC hasn’t had any mass transfers (that I know of) but I have seen a slow trickle of new names and faces. Most of the people that come in here stay for the wonderful ERP and our “warm and inviting” WvW community.

1) Takes a look at TC’s WvW “culture” before going all bossypants on our numerous small guilds.

2) Changes their name. Purple Dragons sounds like a TC name. Rise of the Omnipotent, doesn’t at all.

3) Makes a real effort to make TC their home. Queue times are terrible and I kind of like only having them on Friday/Saturday evenings but I can get over that if people coming to TC make this server their home. (Oh god follow rules #1 and #2 please?)

I disagree. I think to play Necro’s well or Engineers well requires a lot of careful thought.

There was a necro on FA that defended Bluevale against 4 people and managed to kill 2 of us. Spectral armor is pretty much needed on nerco’s for WvW I think?

Rangers though? Ouch, it is getting to the point that I am like “A loot baggy!”

That FA garrison defense was insane, we had to evoke our Golem Gods but it was totally worth it.

I just wanted to say that the fight for the Yaks Bay from like 1:00pm PST to 6:00pm PST was insane and amazing! I was that mesmer cheering when you took it all back.

It was a nice “loner” bay. <3

This match-up has been a joyous one so far. Every night is a real battle, and servers don’t just wilt and take to the forums to cry.

edit: Yes FA tends to “zerg” large and hard. (hi, GODS, hi OBEY!) The trick is to have defensive siege and people willing to defend. Usually when they are zerging that hard you can send a group of 10 to cause hell in their other borderlands since the vast majority of their server’s BL presence is lumped in that one BL of choice.

I play a +power +precision +condition dmg support Mesmer with earth sigils and the Mad King set (think ultra long bleeds and confusion) so I rally constantly in big fights. I am sure people trying to kill me think HAX! but really its just me passively killing people all over the place.

That’s gotta be kittening annoying now that I think about it :P

I am pacing myself this week so I don’t burn out. It was sad watching FA BL flip blue but other commanders gotta learn somehow.

Your “elite squads” and self-congratulatory manner are why I personally lead attacks on your Borderlands, it has nothing to do with Yaks and everything to do with Q_Q.

edit: And stomping on the 3rd place player hardly seems sporting. Does that seem sporting to you? Fort A. is the bigger threat to TC, you get more attention. It is that simple. If you want to carry on deluding yourself, you’re more than welcome to, but it isn’t doing you, or your server, any favors.
