My reasoning for it reducing zerging is as follows:
It would give guilds a new tool to play together and effectively operate as a unit. The most effective use of players is NOT all bunched up on a single icon. People would naturally learn this fact with the introduction of a guild commander.

Give people with the Commander Tag the ability to represent as a GUILD commander or a regular commander. Doing this would drastically reduce zerging and prompt more complex play and promote new strategies.
If it isn’t clear, a Guild Commander would be only visible to people currently representing the guild that the Guild Commander is representing.
Give Commanders the choice to pick like one of eight colors barring the blue that people already know and love. Gold, Red etc etc. This would help large groups run more than one guild commander on a map.
Promoting guild play in WvW would be healthy for long term player retention. This is Guild Wars after all…
With so many advantages to implementing a change like this, I have to ask: what is preventing this from happening? Is there some crazy limitation at play like the soul-bound WvW Blueprints?

He’s talking about yesterday when it was a collection of TC militia trying to push in against a defended keep against an equal sized agg lead zerg. In his biased opinion the militia should have wiped them more often than not, especially since offense is easier than defense in this game.
So Militia can’t get a guild group out of a fortified keep and that makes for a middling tactical performance? Uh, okay?
You guys play a great PPT game, but your tactical execution is middling.
You haven’t seen TC operating at “normal” strength since coming to T2. Things should be different this upcoming week.
Unless you play 24/7, 7 days a week, on all 4 maps simultaneously, it’s hard to accurately gauge the level of play on any server. TC has some great commanders/guilds who execute complex strategies without a hitch. It also has zergs that run around like headless chickens. Same with every server.
The only real difference I’ve ever seen is that some servers are dominated by guild groups and others have more of a broad-based WvW following. Pros and cons to both. Having played on or against almost every server in the top 4 NA tiers, I’d stack our WvW guilds up against any of them.

We cleared out FA BL Hills for our friends and family on far away servers. That and it was the only WP Dragonbrand had left.

Introducing Traps in World vs. World
Traps are fiendish items that can be purchased from the new Traps and Tricks Outfitters on each WvW map. We’re starting with anti-stealth fields and traps that remove supply from enemy players, but in the months ahead we’ll introduce even more ways to spread mayhem in the Mists!
Considering they’re making rather nuanced changed (less damage to siege only) alongside working on some more significant changes (rating system), I’d at least consider it poor form to complain before the well-advertised next patch, which is all of tomorrow and even then wouldn’t be surprised if you didn’t see any changes ’til the end of the month or so.

So like 10 people were in hills then? If that? EU T7 doesn’t exactly scream a lot of people. The fact that a Catapult and autoattack brought a T2 gate down is, um, fortunate for you?

No it is not even great in terms of meta. Guess what the players at the treb get to do? Stand around watching the treb fire.

When I do play, I am a borderlands girl. The only time I’ve ever done a jumping puzzle was on thursday and if there were people doing portals.
I am extremely hardcore. I spend 90% of my GW2 time in WvW. I give no kittens about tiers, but I like having good people to talk to and kill things with.
Good WvW changes since launch:
- Removed Orbs
- Removed Culling
- Removed 1 of 4 Jumping for Badges sites. Only 3 more to go…
- Reduced the number of maddening exploits. Many more remain.

Not sure why they couldn’t just incorporate these into the existing professions to make the game more interesting.
Traps go on rangers.
Repairing (or improving?) siege goes on engineers.
The list goes on…Right now the only profession that has completely game changing skills is the mesmer (portal, veil). It gives the mesmer flavor and a unique role in WvW. I would love for the other professions to have some kind of similar appeal.
This is smart. I cannot wait for it to never happen.

Stealth caping surely doesn’t count. I’m talking about an actual siege, firefights and redswords.

Gal, but yeah they could have tweaked the old meta in so many other ways than a HUGE ac buff and it would have been fine.
For instance imagine the following:
- Players cannot harm gates with more than 20% HP. (reduces zerging effectiveness and gives players a very good incentive to do more than the bare min repair job on a damaged gate.)
- ACs get a 15% dmg buff (25% total with traits, but same range.)
- Golems are not effected by Timewarp.
- Catapults gravel option buffed to really spray a large volume of gravel. No one uses this for a reason, give us a reason!
It’s possible – it may take about 30 trebs, 10 catapults and 2 well-placed arrowcarts, and 50 golems… but it’s possible
And they would flip it back when the majority of TC is asleep and the cycle would have to start anew.
Arrowcarts – a bigger barrier to fun than culling ever was.
It always nice when your server gets fired up.

I wasn’t saying it isn’t enough what i’m saying is give the new people a chance you might be surprised at the knowledge they do have instead of dooming and glooming on every public venue available.
Feranox is a new commander and a transfer. I pointed them to some good resources for learning as well as helped them buy their tag. They show promise. I would like to think I played a small part in helping a new commander step up and lead.
Again, if you think my three forum posts on the subject of old TC is “every public venue” then you’re very mistaken.

I don’t know what this old guard you keep speaking of is but there are still extremely competent leaders on TC you just have to find them and follow or I don’t know put on a tag and try leading some.
I took bay early Saturday morning with the help of Feranox and Company. It was boring and took like nine trebs. Sorry if my contribution to the war effort isn’t enough to make you happy.
Before that I stood in Sunnyhill for 5 hours on watch and scared off entire zergs with a Treb and an Arrowcart. Again, sorry if this isn’t enough for the ZN elites.
As far as the old guard goes, I don’t expect a recent transfer to really get it. We had something magical, now it just feels like AnyOldServer.

I didn’t play last night after work. Thanks Arrowcart Wars. Without you I wouldn’t have opened Steam and picked up Tomb Raider for $25! Its a really fun game.
TC’s old guard isn’t coming back. At this point, its step up, adapt, or die. As soon as the ACs are fixed I will come back and play. There are some things that just are not worth it. In this case I am not interested in playing Treb VS ACs.
Sure it might be more “realistic” or whatever crazy reason Anet has come up with but some things are not worth adapting for. Treb VS AC feels like EVE Online so a big no thank you is in order.

On topic… Someday I will figure out how to take AC-Hills. How long till ACs are brought more in line with the rest of the game as it stands right now?

Yeah, never again. The promise of good someday will not keep me coming back. Devon would do well to know that this isn’t MMO players first rodeo and when a developer starts saying things like “it will be better [in time]” that is pretty much code for pack it up, the developers are understaffed / don’t care / are out of touch.
How quickly this problem of Arrowcarts 2.0 gets addressed with speak volumes about the future.
ACs are being addressed in the next patch which is going through its testing phases right now.

Ah cool! Its a big thread. I don’t care if ACs are buffed but as they are buffed right now it will not do! That kitten is bananas.
If anything, Players auto attacking doors along with Golems need their effective damage reduced vs gates. There are plenty of ways to clear rams off of a gate even with the old ACs. If people want to OMGmega zerg a gate down, make it take 2-3 times as long without siege. That would give defenders plenty of time to punish them for their stupidity.

This will not do! Trebs Vs ACs even for another week seems very pointless and terrible. A solution (rollback) needs to be implemented ASAP.
Have the developers even been playing WvW on the live servers?
