Damage ~= wpn_atk * power * skl_coef / trgt_def

And remember that your kits preserve your weapon stats, but have their own wpn_atk (and wpn_def).

Kits and other bundles do not reflect your weapon values if you have ascended or legendary equipped. They max out at exotic damage. It’s been a severe issue for a while now.

While I would support old titles being achievable again if it makes sense for them to do so (carving pumpkins was back in Halloween. Why wasn’t the title?), I wouldn’t get your hopes up. :/

I really wanted the Master Carver title cause I missed it last year. I was a little bummed that it wasn’t there this year, but I realize that some things in are available for limited times only and actually appreciate that aspect of the game even though it may bite me in the rear once in a while. It’s all a part of the nature of exclusive content which I enjoy if I have something or not.

Dying a lot in Dungeons

I suggest watching videos of how the dungeon is run and figure out what you’ll be up against and how to fight it before going in. That could reduce some of the surprise in a dungeon and give you enough awareness to stay alive.

Also, when you go in with a group let them know you haven’t done the particular run very often or may need an explanation of what to do in a certain part and most groups will be fine to coach you through it. Being upfront about being less experienced is a lot better for the group than trying to hack it and figure things out on the fly.

If the issue is your health then try bringing some mango pies with you in the dungeon. You’ll have constant health regeneration as well as a small vitality boost. If you put Superior Runes of the Dolyak on your armors you’ll get even more health regeneration as well as toughness and vitality making you more durable. Both of these together mean:

115 health regenerated per second
120 vitality
165 toughness

If you’re still having trouble look into some sigils that give healing or steal life for some extra health gain.

Lately a-net have addressed the overload of blood dust. I think it was a well done implanted and made a happy environment for everyone.

Not quite, because soon the source of toxic spores will run out. And the recipes require it in addition to bloodstone dust.

The spores will still have a heavy surplus in the Black Lion. Limited time crafting materials from Wintersday, Dragon Bash, and Halloween always seem available. The exception to this is Azurite which was available only in the Molten Facility and that was around for a much shorter period of time than the spore samples have been.

I think the materials will be available and affordable for some time.

I also highlighted the benefits of new race and profession. I just also included cons to go with those too. All three that I listed (explorable areas, races, professions) would add more to game value.

Dynamic game play is different and would deal with skills and traits but still leave little impression of change in the overal game. Last summer we had a major trait revamp of all classes and this next patch we’re seeing a huge overhall yet again. Even though these game play aspects have changed and change often they aren’t adding a new level of excitement or interest overall and players are still complacent and bored with contend as a whole despite the changes.

My opinions and suggestions were to add things to a more immersive experience.

Making map completion easier in WvW

Also, WvW exclusive players are forced to go to waaaaaay more PvE locations for map completion. But I never see PvE’rs making post asking why WvW players have to go all over a much larger PvE area for this achievement. I always feel like there is a level of hypocrisy to it.

The thing is that PvE is just time consuming. It isn’t difficult. Even though WvW is much smaller and quicker to complete you still have to deal with the PvP aspects and some players do not want that. They may have had bad griefing experiences in other MMO’s, don’t want to fight other players, can’t deal with the TS organization style of professional zergs, or just find is stressful.

These aspects of WvW are absent in PvE which is why you don’t see the counter argument that often. PvE boils down to time in game and getting it done. WvW deals with an actual other person on the other side of the computer making things difficult for you in ways you can’t predict or may not have the skill to counter. Some can’t deal with it.

I WvW, PvP, and have 100% map completion on 2 characters but I can still empathize with why someone may not want to spend very much time doing that content.

The most important thing that could be added to increase value in this game would be characters and a story we could feel attached to and invested in that takes place in a planned and defined story arc.

Player attachment can be seen with Sieran and Tybalt but is left kind of hollow in their brief time within our personal story. Introducing new characters we feel comradery with makes us want to relive our time with those same NPC’s over and over.

Also having a story arc that means something would be amazing and addicting. These episodic situations with one untouchable uber villain doesn’t bring the weight of those situations home and they feel like events that are happening apart from us. Having a true personal rivalry, high stakes, love, and loss make a story and the current LS lacks that content.

My fave RPG’s ever are Secret of Mana, Chrono Trigger, and Final Fantasy VI, Final Fantasy X, and Shin Megami Tensei Persona 4. I don’t need additions of new skills, armors, people I can play as, or even new maps because I love living in the world those games built, I am vested in what’s happening to the characters, and regard my friends in game as friends in real life. Who wouldn’t want to hang out with Frog, Chie Satonaka, or Loki? (nobody wants to hang out with whiney Tidus)

The true allure of these games that are over 15 years old is that they’re apart of my emotional landscape. GW2 has the potential to sculpt that in players too and make them wanting to come back for replays over and over but it seems like they aren’t even trying. Having solid character development and writing (even for an MMO) would do more for this game and intriguing a fan base more than any of the suggestions listed in the above posts.

6.New skins (add some flavor with new weapon sets every month?)
7.New armor skins (this does not mean out them in the gem store)
9.New profession specific armor ( make our characters feel unique out in Tyria, it sucks that rangers, and engi’s, and theirs can all look the same…)

These suggestions are very common and I don’t feel add anything new to the game. Yes, your play style may be slightly different with new builds and yes your armor may have a unique look but those are bandaids for substantial and new content. Regardless of your skills and looks the game (in these regards) is still just as stale as it currently is and features no real appeal to continue playing.

Adding new explorable areas opens the game up to new environment design, different enemies than the same few you can find on every map, heart quests with different goals and ways to achieve them, new dynamic events, and meta bosses. This is a lot of bang for your buck that adds hours of fresh content that would encourage players to play and explore.

Adding a new race will only nominally increase play value and new content because the only thing they would have to offer is a new personal story. After that point you’re just repeating the same Order and Pact missions that everyone goes through. Still, new racials, lore, and different armor looks would be an appealing factor for alt lovers or those who don’t feel they entirely mesh well with any of the existing races.

Adding a new profession could be interesting depending on how it is executed. The devs have said that if they ever considered adding a new profession into the game they would only do so if it had unique features that other classes didn’t and wasn’t just a hodgpoge of existing traits and abilities. If they could pull this off the willingness of players to go back and give the new profession could be great, but I don’t see ANet making moves to that any time soon. Also, as previously stated, the new profession isn’t adding anything new to do in game except have a new character.

Making map completion easier in WvW

The hardest part of WvW map completion is waiting for your server to gain control of keeps and towers and that boils down to actually doing some WvW or checking in once in a while to see what your server is holding.

The rest of it (camps, vistas, skill points) can be obtained by a sneaky solo player; You don’t even need to have stealth. Just be sure to hug the extreme borders of the map while you circle around and tag these points. Some skill points just require you going to them which also makes the in and out sneak tactic that much easier.

I’d say clear as much open content as you can first on all maps then just wait around till your server holds the keeps and towers you need. It’s just going to take a while but you’ll do it.

Another tip: If a keep or tower is open I suggest you log in with all your alts and tag those POI’s and vistas with them too in case you want to do further map completion in the future. Even if you’re not working on the PvE world at least you can get the WvW stuff out of the way on all your characters in this manner.

T3 armor should have perks

The ability to upgrade your T3 cultural to ascended without having to craft an armor profession could be seen as a P2W work around since a player isn’t investing the time for crafting and the gold for mats up to 500. Even though the stats are extremely nominal players would cry P2W.

By now I think most people who care anything about ascended gear have made at least one profession to 500. This means that those players would already have access to obsidian refinement and ectoplasm refinement. They wouldn’t need to put much stock into the armor professions.

Next all a player would have to do would be to convert gems to 119 gold (T3 is 119 gold, not 110, folks) and toss the mats in the Mystic Forge while their peers were left in the dust to grind things out and work their way up.

Another point to make is that if this upgrade system was implemented people would ascend their T3’s with in the first 5 minutes of its release putting some others who are at a financial disadvantage behind and creating a P2W schism.

aoe looting - increase the range

Don’t know why people are saying they can’t loot chests with AOE loot.

I can loot boss loot and chest loot with a single press. I know I had trouble with AOE loot before with it not actually looting everything and still had to manually loot each mob/chest but now it loots everything in range with pressing the interact key.

When I’m in Fractals there’ll be the champ chest and the big reward chest and if I loot one the other will pick up too. At first I wasn’t aware of this and thought that the big chest was bugged! You are correct though in that when you run factals you loot all nearby chests.

Personally, I’ve noticed I can AOE loot fractal chests and I THINK dungeon chests, but it doesn’t seem to work for chests like Jormag or other group events. So, I think this is why people are disagreeing.
I love the AOE loot feature and don’t see how the game would be less fun if the range were increased (since it can be a bit annoying when I outrange my loot), so I support this idea.

What I said above is also true in the dungeon chests also. When I beat the Searing Effigy in CoF1 and loot the champ chest it takes the dungeon chest as well.

Semicolonkid brings up a good point in that the chests people interact with most often (jp chests, meta boss chests) may not have the same function as dungeons and fractals. They probably don’t loot the same way. Perhaps this can be attributed to the fact that dungeons/fractals are an instance.


To the OP I think the AoE loot range is more than adequate. I don’t see why you’re having an issue with 900 range. At least you’re not having to pick each individual mob clean like back in the day.

Report pet name

To answer OP, no I don’t think there is a way to report pet names.

Any word that would be replaced (legitimately) by kitten in the forums is pretty much an offensive word for everyone and falls under the jurisdiction of the Naming Policy.

This is a game for all ages and I’ve seen younger players in my guilds and ocasionally see forum posts from parents about suggestions for classes their kids should play, etc. The civic duty and social responsibility we have in the real world concerning kids applies in game and the policy is an extension of that.

Plus I don’t need to see dumb player names like KittenBalls McKittenface, A Big Black Kitten, or I Kittened Your Mom.

Both true and false. The game will be here, but due to the “temporary content” we’re presented w/ each two weeks many feel stressed to take part in it before it goes away. “What if I miss out on X!”.

Compare this year’s Halloween w/ the one in 2012. The achievements from 2012 were NOT reintroduced. Much of the good stuff from 2012 was simply ignored and left in the historical section.

Look at the different incentives for reaching the meta achievement w/ each release. Titles you’ll never see again, gas mask skins you need to grind for to get. “What if I want that up ahead?! Maybe it’ll never return!”.

I feel the EXACT same way about the McRib limited time offer from McDonalds, every Black Friday deal I’ve never gotten, missing out on Star Wars: A New Hope in the theaters back in 1977, Elvis, The Holy Roman Empire, the Incan civilization, and generally the creation of the universe. I’ve just missed out on so much that may not even come back again, but I’m still crossing my fingers that Elvis will be back next year.

I’m sure in IRL your AP doesn’t even equal that of Brad Pitt or Bill Gates and I’m sure you’re not busting your hump to keep up with them so why have that mentality here? Just play the game as it comes and do what you like. No need to be kitten about every item, title, and AP point. Your mentality is souring this game for you not the stream of content.

I challenge you to skip a LS installment once. Just once. You might find it liberating.

It is of course very unlikely that every single living story will reward an item that is PERFECT for your character.

Irrelevant. The point is that people are missing out on rewards they want, for no good reason other than “it was only available for two weeks, sorry!”

If an item isn’t perfect or doesnt suit your character then this isn’t a reward they want. It’s a reward they’re obsessive compulsively compelled to get only because it is temporary. That’s not a good reason to want something or to get upset when you go out of your way to get.

Are you asking for … chest armor that has no armor whatsoever? Like a completely naked torso? Because if we’re talking purely in terms of exposed skin, that’s the only thing that can happen at this point..

Every time someone asks for revealing male armor this is always the classic counter argument while the female armor versions of those same heavys are reduced to halter tops and mini skirts and it’s super ok.

I went to http://www.gw2armorgallery.com to do a side by side comparison of all non gem store armors and tallied up the amount of revealing armor on females compared to males. If it’s just a low cut top or bare arms it didn’t make this list.

That’s unrealistic.”

In character creation you have the option to get intricate norn tattoos, body hair, and huge, ripped muscles and male armor goes to great lengths to hide these body style choices from player view thus making those choices invalid. Nobody knows you’ve got a hairy chest but you. All those tats you spent so much time looking over and carefully choosing, who is looking at that? We know you’re hot under there Mr. Warrior. Stop being a prude and show some skin.

They’re probably just sick of completely terrible players, newbies, people who can’t read and/or idiots.

You should try pugging AC p1 once in a while. No guild members or friends.

I pug multiple paths of AC daily and most of the time things go smoothly. Sometimes it’s a party full of 80’s or a mix of people down to their mid 30’s and sometimes the non 80 fully geared players perform better than their high level team members.

AC’s exploreable mode BEGINS at level 35 for low level or new players to get their feet wet and gain experience. Asking for 4,000 achievement points at such entry level content is ridiculous. Same as asking for experienced players in a reward level 1 fractal and wanting agony resistance in an are where there is none. These are examples of eliteism being way over the top and out of proportion. It’s like requiring a bachelor’s degree to work at McDonalds.

On a related note, I saw a group in the LFG tool looking to run AC path 1 with the min requirement of 4k AP. I thought it was hilariously absurd considering it’s technically the low level beginner dungeon.

I also saw a group wanting to run fractals lvl 1 with a 20 AR requirement and experience was necessary. Are these people serious?

Even though I listed the Chantry of Secrets, I got the POI that was outside of the instance. I wasn’t aware that inside the Chantry there is 1 point of interest and that was the one.

I voted for and loved Gnashblade. I hated Ellen for all the typical reasons of her bland heroicness as most Keil anti-fans. I wanted an Abadon fractal.

But seriously, all these bitter, “you voted for Kiel and wound up with Scarlett; how does that taste?” threads have got to stop.

At the time of voting we didn’t even know who Scarlett was. There was no way to predict how disappointed we would be by her or her presence in everything we do. She showed her face at Queens Jubilee which was after and then after and after again till we were fed up. Kiel and Gnashblade voters didn’t know that she would factor into the results of their votes because she just wasn’t here yet.

Let up on Kiel voters. They made the wrong choice but they didn’t vote for this.

Theory: Dessa's Lab is itself a Fractal

This is a great, well though out idea. The thought of Dessa, herself, being trapped in the mists has deeper implications than just this installment of the living story and can open up new chapters of game lore and new worlds to build. Your theory has a subtle depth and meaning that is actually powerful and brings the idea of fractals together in an elegant way. Well done.

That having been said, this has to be purely coincidence. I can’t believe that any at ANet could put an idea like this together. There just isn’t any evidence to support that kind of thinking there.

The budget wasn’t spent on this trailer considering it’s the original promo trailer from the release of fractals in 2012. They didn’t show it to us until recently. That was last years money.

Rune of Resistance

The implementation of a signet-related rune is not an oversight, nor is it meant as a deliberate exclusion of the engineer profession. It is meant to be a new, interesting choice for players that want to use to signets and want to play professions that have them.

An interesting choice for players who aren’t engineers which IS a deliberate exclusion of the profession, a limiting factor to engineer build diversity, and a removal of end game content for that class.

How can you say your fractal level is pointless when it effects the loot tables you get drops from? Even in these recent threads devs have said that drop rates improve the higher you go. The level isnt just about ego as it deals directly with rewards.

Also losing 20+ levels of time, effort, and frustration is nothing to scoff at. If you run fractals or not we as a whole, supportive gaming community should be upset and also concerned at what this could mean for the future of changing reward tiers in all aspects of the game.

I think it would be great if they gave a guaranteed dark matter. Gives people a solid way to work for those and not worry about RNG.

That actually feels like a good trade off for the time and effort considering the dark matter drop rate I’m experiencing. I vote yes!

No but you should give one to the thief to properly use “Improvisation”.

See this is something I don’t get about thieves:

On the wiki the “Environmental Weapon” page says:
Thieves have the steal attack, which provides them with a skill to use depending on the target.

Meanwhile the “Improvisation” trait says:
Note: Steal is not a bundle; the damage bonus from this trait affects found items that replace the weapon skill bar such as Conjures and Banners.

… Which one is true then?

A bundle is a weapon that replaces your 1-5 skills with ones of its own such as engie kits, ele conjured weps, ranger pig items, warrior banners, and the elite tomes of guardians. These are physical weapons.

Skills that change your skill bar that aren’t bundles would be the ele tornado, necro lich and plague form, and warrior rampage form because these aren’t weapons but rather they transform your physical self.

Death shroud and norn spirit forms aren’t bundles either as they’re transformations.

Theif stealing doesn’t count as a bundle because it’s not altering your skill bar the same way it would if you picked up an environmental weapon rock, egg, etc. It’s directly tied to the elite skill but doesn’t behave like a bundle. This is unlike the ranger pigs who drop environmental weapons you specifically have to pick up which switch your current skill bar. Your quote even clears that up.

Queens Jubilee – hampster wheel zerg and a gauntlet of awful bosses

Clockwork Chaos – world wide zerg with horrid overflow and completion problems

Super Adventure Box (round 2) – skins I didn’t care for and the rewards I did want got removed (obsidian shards)

I gave each these a day or two of attention before dropping them all together. I missed out on some rewards and I didn’t get some achievements but doing so doesn’t make me feel like I missed out or am behind.

If the content isn’t to your tastes, ANet is not going to shove it down your throat. Just abstain. If you feel like you have to, have to, have to do it then that’s something your forcing on yourself at your own displeasure.

Elixers would only be our (engineers) signets if they included a passive bonus as well. They don’t. There really isn’t anything close to a signet for the engineer.

If it is the daily associated with Nightmares Within, they are pointing you toward the tower. They do show up in some of the random chambers, as well as elsewhere within the tower. =)

When you fight the hybrid at the end the molten alliance shows up during the part with the 3 portals you have to destroy. Just run the hybrid a couple of times and it’s a done deal.

Hmm… I wonder how much XP discovering Beaded weapons would give you at that stage…

Considering they’re crafted using tier 4 mats I wouldn’t expect as much as crafting strait up T6 exotics.

From what’s been said about the new runes, they may not be super useful for fractals but will be in high demand in WvW, which is pretty popular right now. So if nothing else there will be a nice market for fractal runners to sell them.

Getting to lvl 30+ in fractals takes a bit of time and dedication to running them. Most people at these levels have elaborated in several threads that they pushed themselves this far and beyond for their own reasons and not necessarily for a better loot table.

What better way to reward these players than using rare mats found only in fractals to craft items that would be of best use in WvW………….

Infused Armor?

Are we no longer going to have infused armor and be able to infuse our armor?

We never had it to begin with. There was speculation and ugly data mined ascended armors.

That being said, just because the trinkets will be more sturdy AR wise doesn’t mean that we won’t get the armor though. I think that since trinkets are easier to obtain through other means such as laurels and guild commendations they would be the simpler to upgrade than getting an armorsmithing profession to 500.

For newer players wanting to run fractals or those who don’t have much in terms of crafting levels it’s more reasonable for them to upgrade rings than it is to spend money and time to craft the armor. This promotes the running of fractals at least up to 50 without the need or requirement to make ascended armor and that can draw more people into the fractals knowing they don’t have to make that kind of investment until later levels, especially if they run 15 levels or so and decide that it’s not for them.

This video was the best thing evar and I’m in love with it. Well done!

I saw in another post that this was the trailer that was originally to air when fractals was first implemented. If that’s the case then it’s reasonable that the new additions aren’t there.

From the art direction the devs have taken since the summer I’m not sure if they would be able to duplicate the art style in this fractal trailer seemlessly or that it would even look right. In fact the persons responsible for making this may not even be with ANet to reproduce this. Just one possible reason why we’re not seeing the new stuff.

I believe that things like giant coming out in swamp fractal, statues etc. were just made to make more impact on viewer, like to say “Wow, dat Fractals maybe kool”. They’re just there to amaze people and keep show entertaining, not to present actual content.

This. It’s just a fantastical, over the top artist portrayal of what you experience at various times in the fractals. To the new it is exciting and looks like one of the more interesting/exciting trailers we’ve seen in a while To the old it’s a nostalgic nod to the things they’ve done and even though they weren’t experienced in quite the same light it rings with a certain amount of familiarity and makes the things they’ve done in fractals seem epic.

As a long time fractal runner the trailer got me pumped and a little misty eyed. As a charr and seeing that charr run through the levels I saw myself and my victories and mishaps along with my friends and guildies. It was a good feeling and I felt proud to have done this before all the fractal hype set in. I feel connected to the content and accomplished in what I’ve done there and the vid helps confirm that.

Salvage into Ascended crafted items.

This works out since they’re used to craft items with AR resistance.

I’d also like to be able to get Shards of Crystallized Mist Essence, Globs of Coagulated Mist Essence, and Vials of Condensed Mist Essence. Upgrading rings takes a lot of grinding for the shards and even getting the lower tier items out of salvage to make a shard would be helpful.

I wonder if there will be a way to pull the new Agony Resist items out of rings.

Agony resist is super cheap to acquire anyway. @ 75 Fractal Relics a pop I’ve been able to give AR to 6 trinket slots on 3 characters and 2 ascended weapons as well as buying 9 twenty slot boxes with the same relics. Just by running fractals you should be able to get enough to make AR gain a non issue and I don’t think we need to salvage this out of rings.

Outside of the obvious pun, the person behind the guiding advise is really the heart of the matter. If they chose to name themselves Mr. E, Miss Demeanor, or Poopsie Apple Chunks it doesn’t matter; I’d still like to know who they were and why they were interested in assisting. I don’t think they were Scarlett.

Sadly, that plot line has been dumped and we probably arent going to revisit it any time soon.
