kek, solo roaming? Snack for thieves.
Anyway, with some practice I think one could unleash good potential with this build in group play. However, if I were you I’d change Hardening Persistence for Swift Gale. Just based on my own experience while running bulky builds without shiro. 3 seconds of superspeed is a lot when you need to disengage fast or increase gap between you and your enemy.
Then I don’t see why would you need Charged Mist over Rolling Mists (perhaps for solo roaming. Because crit = more torment) or Shrouding Mists (for group play). If the reasoning behind it is might stacking then I’d just go for Incensed Response + Shared Empowerement as these two synergize greatly. I am running hybrid build myself with high 25 stacks uptime and I don’t even have might duration runes or food.
Also, about soothing bastion…don’t use it. Simply don’t.
WVW was a failed venture
Tell that to thousands of people playing WvW on daily basis . A bit lack of devs attention but they still seem to be enjoying that and no way one could describe that as “failed venture”.
Scrapper transforms well into PVP from what I’ve heard, but designed for PVP? I don’t think so.
The only time I ever saw a scrapper in fractals was some unfortunate guy that joined t4 it with a friend and then got removed because his DPS was underperforming. Do they also pick scrappers for raids? Nope, the only engineers that run it are condi non-elite spec ones So if it was designated for PvE as much as PvP then seems like Anet was OK with scrapper’s state in PvE for almost two years. Or perhaps it’s much simplier – it IS working as intended but as PvP spec :P

It’s not sign of skill but yeah, I do notice that some godlike roamers used to be heavy SPvPers. I believe they got tired pf how restrictive spvp is, while WvW is much more fun and you can have any build you want.
I don’t tend to take seriously any of those “Nan-Nan Legends” show offs I encounter on WvW nowadays since I believe surprise effect is the best thing and showing what you can do to some potentially dangerous enemy is such a silly move

Hi there,
Looking for any active EU roaming guild focused on small scale fights, ninja capping and anything that doesn’t revolve around blob fights but rather cunning small group play.
Been playing on Deso for two years, grew tired of Deso community’s mentality towards small scale. Willing to learn in groups, as well as seeking sharpening my skills via dueling activities if there are any.
PM if you got anything in mind ^^
The day people stop being spreadsheet warriors and waiting to copy-cat other people, and actually start doing some work, they’ll realise the problem with Revs was their mindset, not the class.
Like what? Making up a build that noone ever used before? I am pretty sure those who care enough have done lots of work towards that direction without any fruit , it’s not like the class encourages that though. Shots fired.
I’ve been running some build noone else uses for ages along with meta ones, trying to adapt to the situation but what’s the point. And if you say PvP is dead then why do they balance classes around it hurting PvE as a result? The Rev is somewhat limited when compared to other classes because it’s the only one with locked-down skills, but on the flip side has 6 skills rather than 3 on the bar with the legend swap. Versatile if you know what you’re doing.
You don’t need to make up some magic build for the Rev, just simply be good at what it does. Attacking and defending at the same time, timing your CC, watching the fight, your enemies and allies and knowing where to plug the gap, what to do and when. Spacial awareness.
They don’t entirely balance around PVP as much as they used to thankfully, it was a 100% gigantic mistake to ever do so. They should have done a total split of skills like they did for GW1, but I have little faith in the balance team to actually be competent here.
PVP is dead, that much is clear if you take a stroll through the forums and lack of players alike. Hell if I can go to the mists and encounter 3 – 4 players tops at a “busy” period when playing for 8 hours to get my legendary, (and yes WVW is PVP), that’s pretty dead too.
Honestly, take a read of the PVP forum if you haven’t already – it makes for interesting reading when you consider how hard Anet was pushing for e-sports with PVP (that died)
What server are you playing on……..

Ignoring what other idiots say in the Rev forum, it is capable Condi, Power or Support.
Just like any class. Except for it doesn’t excel at required lvl in any of them.
Famous for what, PVP? PVE? If PVP then irrelevant, GW2 is a PVE game with some PVP.
If only few actually cared about PvE more than they do about PvP. Besides there are far more famous iconic players in PvP.
Noone is gonna raid with revenant nowadays, unless it’s their guildmate (and they still prefered a thief tho). I also see less Rev roamers (especially solo) on WvW lately, since I am back to GW2 1 month ago. Can’t say anything about SPvP because I simply had no motivation to play it like I used to but afaik my buddies list is lacking revenants.
On the side, nevermind. Noone is gonna read these forums anyway kek
Revenant
- Envoy of Exuberance does now heal 2,5% more
- Precision Strike and Unrelenting Assault have their target priorities set up, first priority: envoirment animals, second priority: WvW Walls, third priority: invisible gate-ballistas (tactivators), fourth priority: med kit hanging on sentry poles, fifth priority: Ranger pets, Mesmer clones, Necro pets. Sixth priority: There was something, but we forgot!
- Phase Traversal costs 50 energy to activate, but now acts as shadow step and will no longer be interrupted by Lighting Field or similar.
- Inspiring Reinforcement now doesnt grant Stability anymore since we decided that no Player got the buff anyway. The field still works as light field but now grants Vigor each 3 seconds. You probably will experience the same problem as before.
- The by Facet of Darkness triggered Gaze of Darkness will now only reveal enemies which you have in target (giggity)
Who else is excited?
Sarcasm is strong with this one. I’d not be surprised if I found this on patch notes though kek
Nice one, but I’d rather see the results of your build.
Been playing around with ventari last week, figured it lacks stability and stun breakers. Once you switch to it you lose both mobility and become vulnerable to any kind of CC.
Very interesting attempt Anet, probably very loved by blob-material revenants but that’s not most of us like about revenant (or used to). Gonna push GW2 away from my deskotop again I guess.
I thought I was vulnerable to CC as well, but you can move the tablet around (in other words you can use every skill from it) while CC’D, isn’t that amazing? CC practically has zero effect on you, although it does affect weapon skills which are fairly important.
Really? This IS amazing! I didn’t know that. Thats pretty crazy, not just for pvp. I’m not sure if this is intended
Care to let us look at the build you used? Running Retribution over Invocation, or is the stunbreak more important to you? The Healing numbers do look promising.
Inb4n…fix I mean.
I like the buffs because it made Ventari somewhat viable. Bet some WvT blob-material healer revenants love it. However, I started playing revenant as a damage dealer and always looked upon revenant as damage dealer but I am not even sure any more.
Maybe revenant IS a psycho class with multiple split personalities after all…
It’s unfinished just like that legendary armor they’ve been promissing for a while. I think it’s been 1 year now huh? I wish game developers had a different approach nowadays. Like selling finished products, instead of those rough versions of everything we get.
Thief+warrior=revenant. Neither thief, nor warrrior.
New weapon? I think we will have another class on next expansion instead. Just as rough as revenant is or even worse.
Rev is hard to play, accept it, enhance your skill and become one of the monocle players which succesfully ride the class or just quit, stay peasant and reroll to something more facerolling. As simple as that.
Happens the same in some fighting games; one doesn’t main Setsuka or Yoshimitsu if doesn’t have the will to deal of the insane timmings of their just frames. There are other classes more mainstream which can score decent with much less effort.
Nah, I am attached to my rev as well as I am too lazy to reroll into something else and become typical MMO class prostitute. Why not just find another build that fits the current situation and abuse kitten out of it (which can take them by a surprise at the very least?). Gotta make sure that offline button is on in SPvP tho..
Probably, except I’ve seen far more Setsukas around in my time playing Seong Mi-na than I saw mainstream Nightmares(not).
And really thieves ought to have CDs.
Come to thieves’ forum and tell them that, bet they will eat you alive. Thieves have become something similar to guardians, being overpowered in aspects that may not fit in certain game modes but still beggining for another wave of buffs. Sometimes people should realize that they can’t have all things at once.
I really hope Anet will look into revenants once more soon because curently I don’t feel like revenant is useful any more.
Logged for the first time today within last 3 months. Played some matches and did some WvW roaming and can’t even complain about you guys being too rude and salty towards, OP.
Gotta love how they interrupt every of my skills nowdays, including sword’s 4 and staff’s 3.
The staff #1 orbs are pretty easy to collect, just move left and right. Their healing and scalling is pretty low though for the little extra effort.
Staff #2 always had the problem of being a two-part skill and functions more like a damage skill with added daze+weakness rather than a reliable interrupt. Having just the second part would make it more useful at it’s job.
Or, not to waste the animation, make the daze first skill and upon successful interrupt, gain access to second part. I’d suggest a higher damage attack that leaves the foe(s) with a charge of debuff that heals the target of his/hers/theirs next attack. Leaves counterplay (you can heal other enemy first to avoid healing primary target) and changes gameplay.
Staff #4 is quite underwhelming in numbers, but has a rare condi cleanse. Lower cd & higher energy cost or something extra could make it more interesting.
Staff #5 is fine.
And WHAT exactly did you want to say by your post ?
…I am actually happy they added a stun breaker into Mallyx stance BUT.
WHAT THE ACTUAL kitten?
Haven’t logged into gw2 for around a month and then some of my guildmates read the patch notes to me on TS. At first I thought he was bs’ing me but when I read it myself, I didn’t have any words for that. I mean, alright – they told us staff is not supposed to be a dps weapon however…what is it then? Support skills are pretty much lame and useless. Renewing Wave radius is so low and it only cleanses two conditions and those from auto-attack who would even bother gathering those? Did anyone ever do that?
As Debilitating Slam, that skills is so rarely used simply because it is utterly and ultimately slow but I guess Anet knows better.
#NerfRevenantAgain
Dragonkitteners….well…the only valid complaint I have about them is that they still have that daze that was supposed to be temporarily workaround. Guess it’s no longer is.
Personally, death in open world aka WvW is not punishing at all. Just like deaht in this game in general.
If you think you’re the only one flipping, boy you are wrong. Very wrong.
i won’t even answer to your poor comment.
You just did though?
kitten , you beat me up to it.
you cant get a thief on the “back foot” when they can stealth and you cant , they will always reset the fight till they have the advantage.
the best too legends to fight a thief is shiro for its phase travel and glint for its stealth reveal, but these two legends have the worst heal vs a thief so any thief who knows what they are doing can win easy.
if you dont have stab vs a thief you will be cc to death, ret is better than invo, no point breaking a stun just to be stunned again, normally power revs use both invo+retribution, while condi rev uses retribution+resistant boon, but with the nerf to retribution both classes have taken a hit.if you found it hard to kill a thief in wvw before you will find it impossible now.
1) So what? If it’s WvW then ignore them and MOVE ON to something else. Why fight that pesky thief.
2) Good Glint’s heal timing still wins.
3) Interrupted to death*.
The only class out there that can actually cc you to death is dragonkittener lmao. Retribution is by no means better than invocation. That tree alone adds up about 30% dps along with condi cleanse on swap (helps denying shadow shot a lot). And don’t even get me started on Equilibrium, I usually only run celestial wvw build but that trail alone procs up to 4k sometimes. Some of my more meta oriented compadres reported even higher numbers with zerk gear. SINGLE trait procs for 4k in tanky gear Carl, just a single trait…That against easily strippable stability with taunt and Rite of the Great Dwarf (which is kinda useless useless for non-tanky builds since they changed it few months back btw).
Now I understand that we all loved facerolling our enemies without spending much efforst on thinking but let’s face it, everything is easily counterable in like 90% cases once you chill out and sit down to think about it. Thief isn’t biggest of our problems nowdays.
(edited by Vasdamas Anklast.1607)
I don’t usually have a problem with thieves, even with DA art kitteny teabaggers once I swap to axe off hand (secondary sword is still good too). Usually tames their kite-o-mancer hubris instantly. Just need to keep cold head, show them that they are not the only class that can easily disengage acting like they no longer care and countdown their steal CD (essence sap hurt plus most rev abilities go nuts because of slow condition, ugh), almost all of them spam it by CD. Of course it requires one to turn their brain on but same applies to thieves playing against you. Never underestimate thief mains.
Oh and yeah, I PERSONALLY find it easier to fight thieves with dev+invocation+herald instead of retribution because stability revenant is easily countered by Bountiful Thief (first thief steals your stability and then they apply daze to you). Rev’s main instrument is burst, one mistake from thief’s side should be enough with good burst.
(edited by Vasdamas Anklast.1607)
Just like 90% legendaries in GW2. Can’t believe some actually craft them for the looks
I’ll requote myself, it does not apply fully to you but you will get the idea:
“people think that if you win 1 single duel vs someone you are much better than them, regardless of hard counter (nobody seems to realize this game is rock paper scissors, not a 1v1 game, yet people value themselves based of a single 1v1), in a yolo ranked q where nobody gives a kitten, could’ve might as well been talking to ppl irl, or talked to/read chat (streamers), not given a kitten? And then say they farm them ez coz they won 1 duel despite said conditions.”
Esl does not equal being good, it’s that good players is a prerequisite for and often equal esl. A better way to put it rather than esl is top tier. Try and duel (not random yoloq) Frae, Drazeh or Aurora. If you’re on NA, I can’t say anything, but NA seems too be lacking very much lately in keeping up skill-wise. Not to claim some EU vs NA superiority blabla, just that atm they’re behind.
I’m long past the “I 1v1 u ez” point in this game as it by all means never meant to be played this way. Any duel is merely an entertainment activity (and to be honest I like 1vX more). However, I like the concept of variety within a single class, variety that allows you to counter X build of the other class with Y build of your class that might not be very popular.
I know that there are individual and team skill. Team awareness and good communication are aspects that make a good ESL team, individual skill is good but it’s secondary at best. Still, many ESL players tend to advertise themselves as individually skilful on public.
As for NA, I find it fun that somebody else but me noticed that NA’s SPvP players quality seems to be worse than on EU (IMHO). Transfered to NA a couple months ago for some aussie time zone guild which I had a trouble finding on EU but sadly experienced huge lag spikes on WvW fights for whatever reason so decided to run some SPvP matches till I could transfer back in a couple of weeks. Legendary tier felt like playing against bunch of kittens, never ever on EU I was able to faceroll 1v2 setups like Condi Mes + DH. Now don’t get me wrong, there were some good players but the numbers were scarce comparing to EU. It’s just most ranked matches looked like unranked buffoonery to me that month I wasted on NA.
The same tape all over again. “they could have” “to compensate” “we still have lots of bugs”. It’s useless to discuss it here.
I have never been a fan of class changing prostitution and obvserving my class slowly becoming useless in some aspects of this game upsets me to an extent I bought some CBT keys for some soon to be released f2p mmo.Which mmos? They good? I think im quite done with Arena Nets stupidity. Its about time to leave
I’ve only picked one among upcomming ones and can’t really say it’s good (good is such relative word though) till CBT on 25 october. But from what I know some aspects of global pvp (wvw?) and guild mechanics may please me more than those that GW2 has so.
I got something for you btw:
Ow…to think you actually cared this much to reply.
I am just a mediocre revenant myself but during last 4 seasons I managed to beat many ESL players in my match up, whether it’s revenant or some other class they were running (and died many times to them too btw). ESL players aren’t a big deal, they are good but I know people that can’t or don’t want to bother with this kind of a burden and still be monstrously good and far more impressing. I love how some players tend to panic once they see some ESL players though, while in my opinion they should see it as a challenge. Whether they will be dissapointed like me or not , does not matter.
Now to add my opinion about last revenant nerfs. I used to run retribution for roaming on WvW and sometimes in SPvP depending on matchups but recently swapped to invocation because of some… advantages it has over any other traitline except for devastation. I mean is it one build for anything nowdays? Dev+Invocation+Herald zerk/mara? The class is being so blatantly forced into these three traitlines, it makes me depressed as I love messing around with builds trying to find gimmick build noone usually running.
P.S full celestial revenant, 5 stacks of might against a warrior with 2.6k armor
(edited by Vasdamas Anklast.1607)
“Your message has been suppressed due to excessive messaging” on WvW when all I said within two minutes were a scout message and DR in Labyrinth, which festival event. Are you kidding me….

This class is being so blatantly forced into invocation, I am just happy that I never used it outside WvW blob fights (it will probably affect them the most now). Good job on turning the class into thief though, Anet.
There was a good suggestion/guess that the next legend might as well be Scarlet Briar as there is high possibility that Anet may give rifle to some other class.
I took a long break from GW2 and completely missed this Scarlet character, but just by watching videos I can tell how much that character would grate on my nerves if they were a legend. lol
I know right Even though it’d probably somewhat annoying for me too I’d really happy with revenant getting a rifle.
However, there is higher chance that this class will get some other useless dung like focus instead. Ugh…
Rifle definitely needs more love. I use it on my berserker, and sometimes my engineer… but I just can’t justify crafting an ascended rifle until another of my alts can use. I even have the ascended rifle recipe, just sitting there waiting. XD
To think of it, I went crazy enough and crafted predator which has been gathering dust for 3 months in my bank so far. kek
1) Don’t. WTH are you doing underwater anyway??
2) You can’t stop a dead pet from reviving so CC the pet or poison the druid if you have 2 or 3 people. As a druid main I have died to a single person who understands what’s going on, but it’s just so pointless. Underwater combat is ridiculous for every profession, like thief.
Edit: And if are a glutton for punishment you can ignore my advice and just kill the druid like 5 times in a row and then he will be instantly defeated.
1) Been chasing a teabagging druid out of my camp???
2) Once pet has no hp left it is pointless to CC it since it can’t be CC’d in that state.
That wasn’t regular bow druid heavy loot bag so taking him down 5 times was not possible with that ammount of healing power and toughness.
And I beg to differ, no class is immortal underwater.
Any certain strategies? Because from what I saw it’s not possible to cc that pet once it starts reviving a druid underwater. Moreover, the pet still keeps reviving it’s owner even it has no HP left.

Norn raised asura? You mean home bred bookah?
…sometimes I don’t? Baffles me.
This happened to me a couple times in bloodstone fen.
Yeah, and please cut the Charr tails.
(just kidding)
Why do you play an Asura?
He will say it’s a weird cute fancy looking midgets fetish but I bet it’s because it’s hard to read asura’s animations on wvw xD
The boon duration/heal on heal are the two best aspects of the rune. I’m not sure why they’d be running it outside of that.
Boon duration for retribution and stacking healing power for shield’s 5? Meh. Burst that’s what makes revenant in spvp. And a good +1 potential too.
So called healing revenants or regular power builds?
Anyway, answer is one for both – they are kittened. While I can see usefulness of water runes for healing builds, I cringe at the idea of healing revenant in spvp. Not only it is easily focus but also slow and lacks condi cleanse.
You’re right, the completion isn’t as strong as season start when everyone is rushing to legend, however with the MMR based matchmaking it’s still tough and games are mostly competitive, especially at Diamond+.
I’m assuming you’re using something similar to the below (sw/sh+staff)?
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vlAQNAsemnvN2gS6JvQRVlbosryPUYW5IKYs8ElFNFqdABIC2FMhNkdMnpNA-T1CEABCqEMijEQbaIwU9HEOgAQcIAI4BAAwJAQLlfGv/Qf6DCAgAcz2sNvZgzbezbezbeu5Nv5Nv5NLFAmjBA-wPower is about 25% less than the marauded equivalent before bloodlust stacks so probably less than 20% with full stacks as you said.
I have a viper based hybrid build for wvw leaning more toward the condi side using sw/sh+ma/ax, power is still decent at over 2k,1240 condi dmg, almost 40% condi dura and toughness at 1415 (tanky enough), I love that build so much that was my inspiration for the pvp build:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vlAQRAse5nnfN2gSuJvQRHlboskyPU4S5IKor8EllTlxe93nPNgEWQNjOKB-TVDFQBkUJ4uUipO9AN4gA4ONDsb/BCcCASjGCoo0weq/AgHAgDVGwgjAQAAEgb2mlZZG4m38m3852sUAfNsC-w
Yeah, half of the time I am running with s/sh but switching to axe periodically when I know I could use it better than shield. Also running cleansing (which also procs from legend swap) and geomancy sigils instead of air and hydromancy, since I mostly run into other condi classes, with geomancy providing some damage and serving as cover for confusion from shiro’s heal. Recent changes to perplexity runes only made it easier for me.
I tried running with retribution or corruption instead of invocation but so far invocation provided too much damage to pass it.
This is why I like DBs.
The competition now isn’t as high as it is in the start of the season. My friends is conservative power necro and he hit legendary last week. I think first days of sapphire would probably best testing time for that.
I like the idea of hybrid revenant, I am not playing one in spvp simply because I am used to +1 style of this class but on wvw I am running celestial with testicular cancer runes of perplexity, along with sixteen +5 power infusions and sigil of bloodlust. Power damage is only a bit less than marauder’s is (think last time I tested it was only 10-20% less), plus this build contains an element of surprising durability and condition damage.
Agreed, I liked the old one more. I can still hear it for like 5 seconds before it switches to the current one whenever I decided to log from my old and slow PC.
Still, I think your best shot would be those music sites, bet they have it on one of the playlists.
As far as buying all four of the original games/expansion. You can get them all at http://store.guildwars.com/store/gw/cat/categoryID.67871700. One of them Guild Wars Trilogy which has all three original games. You would have to by EOTN separately.
I am aware of this store’s existance, thanks.
What I wanted to know is when was the last time they put Guild Wars 1 on sale, to know if I should try waiting for sale on all expansions or just give up and buy separate pieces I want.
I have always wanted some of those herritage armor pieces but buying all 4 expansions at once seems a bit too much, plus I heard achievements at HoM are no longer working.
Any ideas on when was the previous sale?
