Why are 80 rare armor recipes not an exploit?

I have recipe A, B, C, D, E, etc to Y, and they all follow a similar rubric:
1 of Big
1 of Small
5/15 of Major Crafting Material ( JC and AS/LW respectively)

Salvaging any of the results from A-Y will either get be back none of the major crafting material (AS/LW) or 1/5 of the major crafting material, with an added gain of ectoplasms, you are always at a very large (to complete) net loss on the major component which you recoup on losses by a fortunate salvage (or not). Market adjusts accordingly.

I then see that recipe Z has been added but it strangely neither follows the previous rubric of recipes nor does it obey the usual salvage rules:
1 of Big
1 of Small
1 of Major Crafting Material (JC only)

Salvaging Z will get back the major crafting material 80%/100% of time, leading to almost no (or completely no) loss in investment on the major component unlike any other recipe in the game. The market would/did adjust accordingly but made every other profession and crafting recipe vastly inferior along side of, quite obviously, not following the standard rubric of everything else in the game.

Its not the profit that is an issue (well it is in a way since it drastically shifted prices of things, crashed the T5 market and heavily affected the ecto price ~ rendering T5 effectively useless as it lost its dependence/control to/over the price of ectoplasms). Its the fact that the recipe clearly doesn’t follow the nature of how crafting has ever worked in this game in the past.

And this isn’t even something from a small sample size. There are hundreds of recipes all following the same rubric except this one recipe.

Does /stuck do anything?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I’ve been stuck inside of various terrain objects in Fractals (such as the Grawl Shaman’s pedestal, the Braziers on the last Colossus encounter, go go Guardian teleports) where /stuck is actually useful. If you use the command you’ll get a prompt of “Your position has been logged, if you do not move in X seconds you will be teleported.” or something along those lines. After a while you get teleported to the last checkpoint or the start of the instance zone.

The only problem is that, if you are in combat with say the Archdiviner killing you with now unavoidable agony stacks from his crouching AoE, you won’t get unstuck until combat drops. Fortunately, usually, at some point you’ll glitch the enemy with invul and they’ll drop you from their aggro table and you’ll drop out of combat. (The agony is only a problem after 26+ with my 0 AR, and his whitewash agony will not hit you so most of it isn’t even a problem.)

The new drops fix uses the bags that have T6 items in them, no Karka ever drops bags. So we are seeing an increase of players in the gorge and orr for higher chances of getting bags.

And everyone completely forgot about the increased drop rates of Passion Flowers… which sell for 50s+. Its not that there’s nothing profitable in SSC, its just that everyone overlooks it in favor of kill X for Y.

I must really be doing something wrong (or have the devil’s luck) because while dungeons are a great quick buck, I still find Orr profitable. For one, the recent buff to loot bags (which are next to impossible to find in the exp mode dungeons in their heavy versions) and the sharp rise in even the most easily acquired (T6) fine crafting materials (except bones… so many bones), has made farming Orrians decently effective. Certainly you’re not blasting through 9 minutes or 15 minutes of content for 1.5g+ (CoF p1, or all of AC, respectively) but there are two heavy limiting factors: you can only repeat the maximum gain twice or thrice, and you will not get any T6 mats (you can only get Heavy bags from all of like five mobs in all of CoF) which each sum up to a massive chunk of cash.

Perhaps, though, it is a matter of degrees and luck, and its certainly not as profitable as it once was or, better put, as easily profitable as it once was. In a couple of rotations through pent/shelt, as of recent off the top of my head lootings, you’ll walk away with a few dyes, a rare or two, ten or twenty bags, and a bunch of bones, dust, venom sacs, and more bones. Sell the dyes, salvage the rares, and do whatever you want with the bones.

Break out event

So far from what I can tell the biggest change this makes is it makes Dreadfall Bay extremely hard to defend from Blue. Blue get their keep handed to them, then they take the nearby supply and Treb Dreadfall relentlessly from it. I think they need to do something like raise the mountains between them.

You know this is and has always been the case right? The bays have always been kitten for defense on the outer perimeter because they are low ground to EVERYTHING on the map. This isn’t going to change anything and all teams have the same advantage coffered by the foothold provided by breakouts because everyone has the same borderlands.

What this does change is the fact that heavily contested or lopsided maps now offer a way for teams, guilds, and servers to break out of either the citadel or their invader’s spawn point.

Trasnmuted Skins Bugged When Selling

It seems that transmuted items (or skinned items in the case of the Ghastly Shield and the the Primeval Armor (as far as I can test with what I own)) lose their icon or better put it reverts to the original skin’s icon when looking at them in a merchant’s sell window. I have no noticed this issue anywhere else except there and its a bit odd. Thought I’d report it and I couldn’t find a like thread through search (so my apologies if this is a redundant posting).

My attachment has Grinning Ghastly Shield appearing as the original Pearl Shield, and Flaming Deacon appearing as the original Mystic Torch.

To be fair, dungeons are aggravating. They take hours, somebody usually drops out, and I just get ticked at stupid enemies whose only tricks are an overly bloated hp pool and high attack damage.

What dungeons are you running? No dungeon takes “hours”, heck most dungeons don’t even take half an hour.

New Culling Trial (Ended)

in WvW

Posted by: Vena.8436

Vena.8436

To go against the norm, I have been seeing better culling in WvW now but, as far as even more anecdotal evidence goes, my fellow WvWers have been seeing worse performance or no performance changes. Though I did notice that over a long period of time the number of enemies loading up seems to be ever fewer and it takes more time for a new enemy to pop up even if there’s no one else around, though I’ve been fixing this with closing the client.

Is the fix, perhaps, not properly dumping out old enemies of what it prefers to cull until you hit a new bunch of enemies and it starts to check? This would explain why initially I saw a good change but overtime began to see less and less enemies immediately. Or is it perhaps checking over too long a distance and as such picking enemies that are close as you’re running away from them or their direction and then not loading the enemies you happen to run into along your way?

Do the NPC enemies count as part of the culling formula? There’s quite a few of them out there and I can see them quickly hogging up culling placeholders as you run all over the map.

Why not Ascended Gears from classic dungeons

My 3 gold could get me any accessory in the game before. I don’t find 3 gold a “grind”.

Though I do agree that armor/weapons are the only things you should get from dungeons.

Well, I mean, I didn’t find the 20g for Koss on Koss a grind either. This is rather subjective. The point remains, objectively, that accessories and the backslot have always been limited in methods of acquiring. (Heck, you couldn’t even get the BiS backslot without grinding up guild percs, prior to this update.)

Now the backslot has several recipes available to all (plus the “free” prototype recipe approach), and can be reached any number of ways. Rings are a bit dumb being locked to RNG, I’d prefer them having a recipe as well.

How many dungeons award ascended rings or backpieces through their tokens? 0

Let’s wait till we get to things that have ever been offered in dungeons before we start demanding them in said dungeons. Accessories have always been a grind to acquire in this game with no venue of attaining them aside from either WvW tokens or Ecto chasing.

Meanwhile, how much content will you miss out on because of two rings and backslot? 0

As for what to do in the future, the Backpiece Prototype “growth” idea seems perfectly applicable to dungeon gear. Get the piece in exotic form and then with a gift of some sort, promote it to ascended. Would certainly give me something to do with my thousands of AC tokens…

They should’t have added a mechanic that can only be overcome by gear. It encourages “gear-check elitism”, and even if they add it to other dungeons, it will just make them work in the same horrendous way fractals do, where 20 people can all be looking for the same one, but none will want (or be able) to play with one another due to the stupid level gating.

Its a good thing that they didn’t add a mechanic that can be overcome only by gear, or you might have had a point (of course, you do reach a point at which having said gear is nice). The only unavoidable application of Agony as of so far in twenty levels and growing of diving, is the Jade Maw’s phase change which can be countered by damage mitigators. Every. Single. Other. Application. Of. Agony. Can. Be. Avoided. By. Playing. Well.

You have a plethora of skills that can be used to entirely avoid Agony, and if you work as a team you can completely trivialize the Agony mechanics of certain bosses. (And some bosses, Svanir Shaman, are complete jokes, Agony or not.)

Yes, it hurts to get hit by agony and, yes, sometimes it will down you. But its not a “gear” check issue until you reach depths that no longer have statistically better rewards. Want to know what exists after 20+ levels of diving where, maybe just maybe, you might start wanting some Agony protection in case you mess up or want to make the Jade Maw easier? Skins. A whole bunch of skins. The best gear is at level 10, the point at which agony makes it first appearance, and a point which can be reached in full MF gear.

Anything deeper than 10 is purely for vanity, and since people didn’t have a problem grinding for vanity before… why did we suddenly start having problems with it now?

The entire fractal concept was a horrible idea, even if it were dropped into a traditional gear-grind game like WoW.

I disagree. I think the concept of the fractals themselves is a good one.

What needs a rework is the tiering on entry mechanic.

Going by the posts in here… I’m curious as to how many people have even actually played this dungeon with Agony and how many are just espousing their beliefs, blindly.

I’d like to respond to concerns players have raised about ascended items. Please keep in mind that we’re releasing this as one portion of a massive November update that introduces and improves many aspects of challenge, progression, and rewards. With this and upcoming updates, we view ourselves as introducing large amounts of content with supporting systems and features, akin to an expansion pack, building on Guild Wars 2 through a series of live releases. So it’s important for us to be able to add an expansion pack’s worth of progression and rewards to support that content.

Our goal is not to create a gear treadmill. Our goal is to ensure we have a proper progression for players from exotic up to legendary without a massive jump in reward between the two. We will slowly add the remaining ascended gear items and legendary items in future updates to allow people time to acquire them as we add exciting new content that deserves exciting rewards. We will not be adding a new tier of gear every 3 months that we expect everyone to chase after and then get the next set and so on.

Ascended and infusion rewards will be available in both PvE and WvW over time, and be made available through all sorts of content around the world including existing content. PvP will remain unaffected to ensure our intended PvP balance going forward. We are also working on other reward and progression systems for the game that tie into current and new content and features. As you know we care very much about your support and opinion and are listening intently to what you say.

Finally we look forward to hearing your thoughts on the upcoming content, and we will ensure we share our thoughts with you on the experiences we share in the Lost Shores.

Chris Whiteside – Studio Design Director

You’re addressing the gap that didn’t exist until you introduced it. What the… this is a pure tautology.

What gap is there between Exotics and Legendaries right now? The time it takes to acquire them. Do you want to make a fancy, time intensive middle-ground armor? Go for it, I’m all for it, but why are you adding a stat gap that never existed in the first place?

ArenaNet, my wallet is now closed to you. It is not because of the patch or the gear, but because of your lack of communication with your community over the past day and a half.

I have read hundreds of the posts in this thread and have seen the questions asked. I have also read the Dev tracker and seen the pathetic and redundant stream of corporate speak coming from your community management staff: “We appreciate your input.” and “This post will now be closed.”

You have become like Blizzard.

This is my first experience with your company, and I had much higher hopes than this from you based upon the information you have given out over the past year or more regarding this game. I purchased the game, and I have enjoyed aspects of it. I have despised aspects of it as well. I felt like it was oversold and under delivered. Promises were made and not kept. Polish was lacking in many regards and still is. I will not ask for a refund, but you have lost my trust completely.

When the time comes that you require more money of your players to continue keeping the servers live, count me out.

To be fair, there’s no much to say. If they are going to the office to argue on this, they can’t say anything till a decision is reached. If they won’t change their mind then talking isn’t going to do anything bu fan the flames.

Solutions:

1: Issue an apology for miss selling a core principal over the 4 years leading up to the game release. Admit that they unintentionally gave us an ideal that they was not willing to standby. Accept requests for refunds.
Release a new manifesto that reflects their new design strategy and move on with the game.

2: Admit the decision was a hasty knee jerk solution to please what was perceived to be the majority of the player base. Make new items exotic level stats. Make the new condition feature work on consumables that drop frequently in PvE, Crafting, Karma & via WvW or scrap it. Keep the fundamental value of adding new content with visually spectacular gear for us to grind for. Focus on making the game fun as per the manifesto.

This is very likely a top-down decision, not a bottom up one. Arena Net has no choice but to grin and bear it because its the boss’s boss who made this call.

I find it absolutely hilarious that people are crying over this new tier of items when it adds +2 to stats over Exotics. Yes people that is +2 in stats!

That is far from making Exotics inferior to the new armor tier… +2 in stats x6 armor pieces for a total of +12 is still a far cry from making Exotics no longer viable…

Please don’t spread lies. I’ve already posted the math on this, and it’s not “+2”, it is a lot more than +2 in fact:

As of right now, the one slot that is comparable is a ring slot item. Draw your own conclusions, I just want to put out numbers since people keep quoting bizare values like “+2” or “8%” without really saying where it comes from.

Ascended Ring:
68 Precision
68 Power
10% Magic Find

Opal Orichalcum Ring of the Explorer:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Opal_Orichalcum_Ring_of_the_Explorer
63 Precision
63 Power
7% Magic Find

On the surface we see a 3% Magic Find boost, and 5/5 boost on the minor stats of Power and Precision.
Depending on how you look at this stat increase, whether compared at the jewel level or at the actual item level, the stat increase per % magic find is actually quite large. Let’s look at the next ring with both Prec/Power/%.

Ruby Orichlacum Ring of the Berserker:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Ruby_Orichalcum_Ring_of_the_Berserker
92 Power
63 Precision
6% Critical Damage

Coral Orichalcum Ring of the Rampager:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Coral_Orichalcum_Ring_of_the_Rampager
92 Precision
63 Power
63 Condition Damage

That is to say, 1% of MF (as the magor trait) can be argued in equivalency to 29 power. Or, when compared to purely stat gear, 7% of Magic Find is the equivalent of 92 stats. That is 13.15 stat/% trade off. Or, if you just want to compare basic stats on jewels:

Exquisite Opal:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Exquisite_Opal_Jewel
4% Magic Find
15 Power
15 Precision

Exquisite Ruby:
25 Power
15 Precision
3% Critical Damage

Exquisite Coral:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Exquisite_Coral_Jewel
25 Precision
15 Power
15 Condition Damage

That is to say that, when we compare the % based stats, you have a rough estimate of a trade-off of around +10 stat/% but when comparing % to non-% items, you have a trade off of about +6 stat/% (this arises because Crit Damage scales even more sharply than Magic Find in how much of a stat you have to sacrifice to build up Crit Damage). The number differences become much larger on armor.

Of course, the problem all comes down to Magic Find having very bizarre scaling. Where it can range anywhere from +6 stat/% exchange in jewels to as large as +22 stat/% stats on armor. If you’re more interested in the numbers, I’d look here: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Rampager%27s#Amount_of_Each_Stat_Per_Armor_Piece_for_Level_80_Items
Unfortunately it lacks Magic Find and Critical Damage scaling.

And in the end it all begs the question: Why did they show us the most hard to comprehend gear stat distribution? Why couldn’t they should the simplest as in: Rampager’s or Cleric’s?

Its hard to extrapolate just how much all gear will add, but just a single ring adds a lot more than “+2”. If we take the lowest denominator at +6 stat/% we’re placed at +18 stat on the ring from the Magic Find equivalent buff and then +10 total from the minor stats. That’s an increase of +28 stats overall for the ring. If we compared a whole ring (gem and all) in the set, with the high of +13 stat/%, we reach an increase in stats of about +49 overall for just the ring.

+49 stats on a ring is an increase of 18% in stats, total. (This is from: 1 – 218/267.)
+28 stats on a ring (our low ball) is an increase in 11% in stats total.

Have fun, and if I made a mistake let me know.

I have to ask, since you seem to have done the math for this. Do you know what the difference would be between exotic gear with exotic runes/sigils/etc?

The math in most threads has been done including the best in-slot +stat gear (exquisite gems for accessories) and it lacks by roughly 28-49 stats depending on how you look at it. They picked the most nefarious stat to present as the major, Magic Find, because it “looks” like its only changed a little but anyone who knows this game knows that 1% of Magic Find is worth anywhere between 10-22 stat points. At 3% increase, that’s anywhere from 30-67 increase in stats.

No sixth slot of a rune will match this will match this stat increase, Divinity at +60 stats & 12% critical damage is the only one that even comes close (but even then you’re still off by hundreds of stats total), all others pale in comparison by a wide margin especially with many having 90s cooldowns on their sixth slot.

Yes, more gear will be coming in the future. So why worry about that when all you have to worry about is a couple rings and a backpack?

Because its called a power creep for a reason. It creeps in and kills a game.

Ok, you seem to be dead set against these changes, so i am done arguing with you.

Good luck… I hope you find a game you like, because this one obviously isn’t it.

Compared to its Exotic counterpart, new Ascended-rarity “Explorer” ring has:
+5 Power
+5 Precision
+3% Magic Find

Magic Find is valuable. Some gear slots are more efficient for MF than others, but on an exotic ring 3% MF is worth ***67*** of another stat. (Compare: Opal Orichalcum Ring vs. Emerald Orichalcum Ring.)

I’m not that interested in debating how many stat points is too many. (The real problem is that in the designer’s own words, “This is just the beginning.”) But for those who are, the currently proposed number isn’t 2 or 3 or 5 stat points per item, it’s closer to 100.

I love how the item they chose to show in comparison was the most deceptive possible. The large value of MF on gear and the separated-out base and static-upgrade stats just make it as likely as possible someone walks away from that post thinking ascended gear is a trivially small upgrade.

Its called deceit to attempt to placate the masses.

It failed.

If anything, its backfiring as the information spreads.

I swear most of you missing a brain or something. They said ascended gear is between exotic – ascended – legendary.

Sunrise : Weapon Strength: 1011 – 1117
+182 Power
+130 Toughness
+130 Vitality

Exotic Greatsword: Weapon Strength: 995 – 1100
+179 Power
+128 Toughness
+128 Vitality

Ascended between exotic and legendary so WOWWW so much stat increase eh. Before it was elitist cry there no endgame, no gear progression and now it the casual crying about ascended. NOT LIKE SOME1 GONNA OWN YOU IN 1 SHOT IF U DON’T HAVE ASCENDED.

We don’t have Ascended Legendary stat levels…

What you just quoted are defunct stats on Legendaries that never made it into release.

Yes, more gear will be coming in the future. So why worry about that when all you have to worry about is a couple rings and a backpack?

Because its called a power creep for a reason. It creeps in and kills a game.

And why do you keep talking about a full set? For now they are only releasing rings and a back slot item… that’s 3 pieces.

Relax or quit the game… it’s that simple.

So when you’re proven wrong, you change the issue but ignore the fact that the blog posts states that more gear is to come and full sets are bound to appear? That doesn’t work.

The screenshot in the announcement was rather clear on the matter. In total the exotic ring had 63 Power/Precision and 8% magic find. The ascended ring had 68 Power/Precision and 10% magic find. That’s +5 Power/Precision and +2% magic find.

Now keep in mind that YOU WILL ONLY BE ABLE TO FILL THREE SLOTS WITH ASCENDED GEAR AFTER THE PATCH.

Caps and bold for emphasis since some people seem to have trouble reading.

You seem to be having trouble scaling. The MF is the major stat on that gear, and it scales at 3% to 67+ points.

It’s +2 stat points that’s making players have an aneurism because of kneejerk reactions.

Its +77 stats. Thanks.

3% magic find increase is +67 of a stat on equivalent gear.
+5 minor.
+5 minor.

+77 is not +2. +77*16 is 1232 stats. You have a stat spread of roughly 7000 (unless I’m mistaken, doing this off the top of my head in terms of maximums). Thats 17.6%.

You will be able to craft the new items or buy them off the TP by those who can.

Doesnt excuse the 7.936% increase in stats from exotics nor the artificial gating mechanism of the infusions. Plus having to regrind this when I have already grinded out exotics, Im not going to play ball if this hits live.

Its not 8% stat increase, its much closer to a ~100 stat increase per item slot given that the 3% magic find equates to an equivalent of 67+ stats on equivalent gear in the slow as has been so far presented. This will come out to be roughly 1400+ stats increase overall, which is more than 8%.

Compared to its Exotic counterpart, new Ascended-rarity “Explorer” ring has:
+5 Power
+5 Precision
+3% Magic Find

+???? (Unused Defensive Infusion Slot)

Magic Find is valuable. Some gear slots are more efficient for MF than others, but on an exotic ring 3% MF is worth ***67*** of another stat. (Compare: Opal Orichalcum Ring vs. Emerald Orichalcum Ring.)

Then there’s the Defensive Infusion Slot. It’s possible that this slot will strictly be for PVE attunement mechanics like Agony Resistance. But I don’t think so, because the blog post says: “In November, we’ll introduce Offensive, Defensive, and Omni Infusions of Fine rarity…” So they’ll have different itemizations, and probably different tiers of their own, which seems to suggest more stat boosts.

I’m not that interested in debating how many stat points is too many. (The real problem is that in the designer’s own words, “This is just the beginning.”) But for those who are, the currently proposed number isn’t 2 or 3 or 5 stat points per item, it’s closer to 100.

This should keep being quoted over and over.

Let me ask you guys this..

How you going to to slot Superior Runes and Superior Sigils on these weapon and armor when they’re released.

Cause you can’t with the current ascended gear gear.

“Introducing Legendary Armor where you can slot both Infusion and a Rune/Sigil!”

Not every slots for Runes though, many slot for pure stats.

The only Ascended gear in this is a ring and back item.

It doesn’t matter. They don’t belong in any form of PvP. You can get exotics by WvWing, you can get your whole set through WvW. You should not be forced to PvE in order to WvW.

This garbage should not be allowed in WvW. Period.

It shouldn’t even be in this game but, as can be seen, ArenaNet is no more.

I still think we’re missing some info:

  • Will Ascended armour be upgradable with Runes? If not, increased stats make sense (to bring it on par with runes, and to make up for the lack of bonuses). If this is the case, then Exotics may yet still be the best for WvW (I mean, what would you rather have: that bit of extra power of that bonus that fits your playstyle?).

Except there’s no indication that you cannot get pow/vit/tough gear in Ascended form, giving you 10-15% better stats overall.

You’d think they’d have learned from GW1 (and the PvP side of things) that power creeps kill games. It killed their fledgling e-sport in its prime when they introduced the power creep known as Factions. Then followed it up with a brutal swing from Nightfall. And nailed in the final nail with EotN.

Why couldn’t the gear have the exact same stat values at Exotic? What made that so hard? Call it Uber Elite Gear X for all I care but keep the total stats equivalent to exotic + best slot item, then add your crappy infusion gimmick to gate your dungeons all you want.

Gating content, never good, never fun, never anything but a time sink.

The thing is, every possible indicator shows that more people have left the game than are playing. The need people to play and buy from the cash shop, that is if you want an expansion. Progression helps them do this.

Every possible indicator? None of which exist in any objective sense anywhere on the internet? Who the heck were the people playing all but two weeks ago that caused tens of overflows in LA, MKL? Ghosts?

well, the same forum that QQ about the lack of stuffs to do at lvl 80 now QQ about Anet adding more stuffs to do at lvl 80. The same forum also QQ about the lack of " PROGRESSION" now QQ about Anet adding progression.

I think the introduction of the new armor type is good .This will make “I-got-exotics-already-now-i-have-no-goal-or-motivation-to-play” people stays longer.

New goal and New motivation, I like the sound of it.

The vast majority of us were in game playing because we liked no vertical climbs of pointlessness. Thats also why you didn’t see 1000 post threads on “no progression” as you do now, within a time frame of less than 12 hours. People were playing and having fun, and the few that weren’t whined and left. Now, the people who were playing and having fun, aren’t seeing too bright a sunrise. And there’s a lot of said people…

So who’s feedback is ANet going off of here?

This basically implies that these will be a higher level of quality for all armor and weapon items. If you read a bit further it even states that there will be similar items added to old dungeons.

Analyzing the various sources, it seems that the (old and new) dungeons will offer the infusions while ascended will be some new tier of armor with an infusion slot (gained from god knows what but if its from any token exchange, they better offer an upscaling otherwise A LOT of us wasted a lot of time). Probably something along the lines of: CoF offers an infusion to armor that grants +X fire damage or something like that.

Which is, admittedly, quite idiotic since we’re then forced to farm some other dungeon in order to do a new dungeon to get the best +X stat or whatever they put in these infusions.

The only way out of this, as I see it, is to make this a purely backslot item. Why? Because exotic versions don’t exist. It stops at rare, and from there they can introduce just about any tier they want: Ubergodlydoom Tier, for all I care and it can have a billion infusions slots. No one in the game had this slot maxed, so no ones work is rendered moot. They just add more stuff to work towards and you can fill in the infusion slot(s) by doing whatever the heck you want and add new slots as new content is added, giving a pseudo-progression to one item slot.*

*Infusions are obviously banned from WvW.

Blog posts shouldn’t take that long to produce. At my job we routinely produce last minute, urgent news bits longer than their blog posts that need to be emailed to our clients and if it’s urgent it can be drafted, reviewed, edited, and finalized in a few hours. People just have to be willing to make finishing it their priority. So where’s this blog post.

Common opinion: either being re-worded to skew the truth or being re-written to write out this terrible idea.

Well the blog post wasn’t intended in the first place so i guess it will take more time than normal.

But i would like to have a simple official quote about the following:

“Will the Ascended gear be better in Stats for damage/healing/support etc. than Exotic gear?”
“No.” <— This would be enough!

I see a lot of people running around their offices in a bit of a flurried panic right about now. This is worse than the BLC fiasco and they went on salvage mode with that within a day.

And because there is no exotic backpack ingame yet .. I dont think this new armor is only for back slot only

I like to look at the bright side of things, though even I am having a hard time with it here.

That said, this smells fishy to me. It could easily be something like:
~ Ascended Gear: Needs X (of the new) resource and Y tokens from a specific dungeon (Z) to create this from any exotic.
~ Combine everything in the MF to acquire: Ascended ooOoogah Mask of the Z: Imbued with Flame Legion magic, you are able to damage Kraka and deal an additional 5% damage for each piece of gear equipped.*

Then, next month, when they add the next level of Kraka (or some other mob of evil) they add a new piece of gear, and little by little everyone builds up a full set of Ascended on the basis of their previous Exotics. (And the dungeons drop some to facilitate the grind.)

*sic: Statistically better than exotics… against Kraka. Though I’d prefer this not go in as it will lead to LFG 4/6 Ascend Kraka!
