Well first thought is…. have you played those other games perfectly since getting your laptop back? If that answer is yes, then review your msconfig startup to see if you can lean down your system resources and free up ram. Also chk and see if your hard drive is full/near full. Virtual memory needs room to work as well.

If you are good to go there then chk your in game vid settings. The biggest framerate eaters are generally shadows and reflections. Judging from your specs , I think your laptop should be handling this game as well.

The only event I have seen any trouble with is bloodwitch and for one reason, its an underwater event that a lot of players seem to have difficulty finding. The second reason is I actually do think it needs a tweek. The vet mobs are respawning in under 30 seconds. I dont think that should be happening.

As for your prediction … well whatever helps you sleep at night. Your server may have an issue but mine is nicely populated across every area I have been in.

That is what they hope for. That can only become a profitable venture if we aren’t vigilent in reporting. Just remember that every spammer,scammer and botter is chewing up bandwidth on the game server intended to be used for gameplay. Every time you get lag, let it be a reminder to report this kind of violation.

That way works as well . The corner drag is a functional way to move the window as well, but glad you got it back where you wanted it.

I am pretty sure dragging is how you do it . You may have to find the right spot. Ill check it out .

it is grab the corner thats marked and pull down it wont follow but dont let go ,keep pulling and it will flip to the spot.

The rifle and longbow are both in the warriors accepted weapon sets

If I am pressed to guess the least used profession …its probably mesmer. I have seen some awesome ones out there though. Zietlogik makes a wonderful point. There is enough build flexibility within each profession to still be unique. I play a warrior as one of my 5 characters. Card carrying Altoholic here I dont run into too many rifle/axe warriors and with rifle there is just something satisfying about smacking an ettin halfway across the map with the butt of my rifle

they avg out to about 10 buck a slot which is pretty close to what GW1 slots cost.

I will give you this much…. Engineer + rifle = jump shot FTW

Dabble is my suggestion. Pick 3 you know are slam-dunk professions you want to play and use your last 2 slots to explore your option. As a fellow altoholic this is my thought and what I did.

Wont tell you which ones tho your favs may not be my favs and I don’t want you to miss out on what may be your “happy place”

Perhaps the game’s settings aren’t the issue; what hardware are you running and when was the last time it had a fresh format/Windows install?

See what you can do with an optimisation program before you go knee-jerk reacting with a format install … this isn’t windows 3.1 anymore. I use Slim Computer not because I cant dig into my system but because even for less techy people it works. consult with it to see what start up programs you can disable it will also do a range of thing helpful to your everyday usage. Oh and its free and microsoft gold certified.

The more resources you can free up the better your system can run. Check your startup to see what windows tries to load. If you dont want to dig … try Slim Computer .. free microsoft gold certified partner program … It can help you out. As far as ingame … reflections and shadows off then play with some of the other settings to see what works. You should be able to coax a little eyecandy if you tinker but if you are low end … you are lowend. Good luck

This occurs many many many too many times. I login with my proper id/pass and am ok in the site. I want to access forums and am asked to login again. I get the your password is wrong error at least 4 or 5 times then magically it works. How bout this , one log in at the site … and proper access to everything within the site. To me this is an unneeded redundancy.

This issue has a frustration level associated with it and probably is causing a lot of people to reset passwords that dont need to. You may be increasing your own workload here with this issue by having many more password resets than you need.

check a few threads associated with wireless routers if this is what you are using to be online. This may hold an answer for you.

I have the same thing with Realtek ALC892 chip (been having it since launch). Next to what you describe, I also can’t hear any sound during cinematic dialogs, or rather it sounds like a very, very distant echo. I do, however, find it a game breaking bug since the game is pretty much unplayable for me this way. Fortunately, I’ve been able to use my USB headset which works a bit better (not optimal though).

I am set to 5.1 and only the minor things I mentioned occur. I have never had a muted cinematic. How up to date are your sound drivers? Another option would be sound setting in the ingame options to fast instead of quality to see if it helps.

My version of Necro uses the staff for the aoe traps and I dumped the initial life steal minion for blood well as soon as I could and the ranged attack minion is the best starter companion as opposed to the 2 bone minions . I have quite a bit of fun with that. More of a back line caster and heal type but fun .

As long as everyone reports … that many reports on one user should easily raise a flag visible a mile away . ANET will know .

Here ya go …. Create a character… pick a profession… talk to the first npc …. spin around 3 times and go off in any direction you want and play it anyway you want. Theres no reason to rush to cap … content is everywhere events happen for all levels not just the endgamers. Leave all the old assumptions at the start screen and enjoy the ride And no charge for this guide either LOL

You already posted this in tech support. Why here too? You really should do your own research sir. Its Also hard to take you seriously when this forum is well aware of who Jay Wilson is. Having said that there are several threads alluding to wireless router issues in the tech support section. If you are using that then try bypassing it and directly connecting. If it doesnt work … well someone actually did try to help you .

Spam or scam either one works. The main thing is to report them. Realize every one of those kind of accounts is chewing bandwidth the rest of us would like to have for gaming. The sites they run are just doorways to the kind of keylogging trojans no one needs. I will never just ignore those .. I always report them. The account I save just might be yours

All in all a fairly nice thread. Having built several computers myself I understand the relation between quality parts and proper resource usage. Running lean is key to a good performing computer regardless of cost. The man can afford Alienware and there is nothing wrong with that since his working knowledge tells me he could easily build one himself. So cut him a break please. I would recommend a nice utility called slim computer. It is free, microsoft gold certified partner and will optimize a lot of the things in a much easier manner for those less tech savvy who yearn for an improved gaming experience. Again nice thread

I can more or less back you up on that one. My sound is also realtek and the issue is so small it really doesnt bother me much … so far. What I have noticed is from about 3 patches ago once I log in the sound is “mute” for 2 or 3 seconds after you show up in game and can move , then it kicks in and behaves more or less like you describe .. the occasional NPC shouting in my ear and silent first shot on a mob .

Take in to consideration this MMO has no trinity . There is utility/healing in pretty much any profession. I actually dabbled in each profession and the main 3 I felt most attuned to were Warrior, Engineer (jump shot FTW), and Necromancer (as close to my GW1 blood style as can happen w/o dual classing). You may find others you like …but dabble a bit … this isnt about endgame its about the journey… enjoy it

I have seen similar things happen , but I dont know if I lost my lock my movement or by interupt. I use my mouse for movement as well and the mapping of my mouse for movement is in NO way the cause of this issue. GW2 is designed much better than that … and so is the razormouse and razor keyboard I use.

I am also curious if GW2 uses the characters line of sight to determine the auto-target … the player can see the mob standing closer and behind him … but your characters POV would not. I do cursor clk my targets if I notice one really close … it it just more dependable than relying on the tab button in a massive fight.

My only suggestion would be to challenge yourself to a new character, the one you would least likely pick to make it interesting, then enjoy the journey instead of rushing to cap. My gripe with all previous MMO’s Including WoW , which I quit after 2 years, is the best content being 60,80,100 lvls away and nothing to do but kill 1,236,754 lvl 3 boars to get there.

This game isn’t of that mold. I have 5 diff chars highest is just now level 20, I played from the head start, but I havent rushed a thing I explore, help out in events even if its one I did before that suddenly appears again. Someone else gets to benefit from my help. Its the social side of the MMO that gets promised but never delivered on in so many others that I love about this game. I hope you can find your “fun” again. Surely you have overlooked something during your initial powerleveling rush.

I followed ANET’s suggestion and strenthened my password by making it unlike any other password I ever had. There is room for a 100 character password in this game if you werent aware. I prefer to believe my security is my responsibility. I have never been hacked, not even when I was playing WoW or the game referred to as Diablo3 which should have been called Auction House Tycoon and I never bought their authenticator. You take the right precautions, scan for malware and keyloggers using good utility software, and dont go to shady websites and that stops 90% of the problem. I personally am happy with the current security provided.

FYI … blizzard’s own server was recently hacked … no authenticator will help if someone grabs your account info from the other end. google or Yahoo “blizzard hacked” to find the link

Absolutely This is the perfect game for me. I am one of those players who hates rushing to level cap. With this game its not a problem. All the different ways to level and the “endgame content” feel of events, especially the swamp behemoth, finally make the journey much more enjoyable than the destination. Add to that the storylines based on your character setup and the choices made at creation and 5 different start areas to boot. 3 months from now I may still not be at cap with even one of my characters …and I wont care because its too much fun.

I hated the grind in WoW and still managed to play it for 2 years until I had had enough of the elitist gear checking snobbery even though my lvl 82 DK could hand them their lunch.

US Sorrows Furnace …. My original choice .. high population and only the occasional chat troll. Very happy with this server overall. Events are flocked to and the swamp behemoth has been totally awesome with 50 + players having at it. I am primarily PvE so thats the scope of my critique Even made a few in game mail trades without a hitch so there are trustworthy players here.

I feel your pain. I can’t stand botters either. Eventually, probably sooner than later, ANET will do the same to them that they did to 3000 accts exploiting a vendor bug. The ban hammer was swung hard. Trust them to accumulate names and deal justice.

Everyone gives this bullkitten about “oh the game is completely balanced because anet says so” but no, its not. Just look at the amount of people complaining. People of that amount dont complain over nothing…

So just curious … how many complaints divided by 1 million plus owners of Guild Wars 2 to get your percentage are you referring to? Bet it’s a much smaller percentage than you originally thought. The happy silent majority don’t need log in to complain but the voice of approval is still there and vastly outnumbers you.

Honestly this game doesn’t use the old trinity approach to MMO gameplay. there is utility and healing in almost every profession so I don’t believe there will be that many occassions where someone’s participation requires they be a specific profession. Use the one that you enjoy most … and it sounded to me that you like the necro better

there is a thread on this …but instead of the “old Look first” sermon. The answer is the “!” box at the bottom of your in game mail. You can report the spam or scam that way

I dont truly believe there is a reason to think one class is overpowered and another is underpowered. I personally “enjoy” the engineer, warrior, and necromancer ….. and find the mesmer and ranger not to be to my “style” but most likely someone else will feel almost a complete opposite to my opinion. To me as long as that exists then the balance issue is a non-issue.

While I understand your feelings, it seems as most games with trade window options tend to open a Pandora’s box of scam options … trade window open/closing , item switches , and result in chat room unhappiness. I negotiated a couple in game mail trades without issue. It involves trust but that option does exist.

The trading post is probably the most secure transaction option available and since we are inhabiting a “world” as it were and doing a business, said NPC representatives of that business are participating in the reality of providing a service

This^ …pretty much exactly. I respect ANET for taking the step to put a price on attempting to freefarm valuable areas in the game. If you have a desire to farm then you have to deal with the scaling consequences. This game is built around a truly social MMO aspect not an individuals dominance of an area. Of course they could have just locked your character out of said dungeon once you successfully ran it … how bout that little solution? Have fun and enjoy the social aspects.

P.S. It was this little aspect of WoW that became the major reason I quit playing. Trying to farm and refarm just to keep up is horribly boring and turned me away from the game.

People should be allowed to be able to freely play the game in whatever way makes them happy and enjoy things like this.

My experience in WoW has already given me an education in a Trading atmosphere. Once others gain an education, the trading post will stabilize a bit but for those who look for deals …deals will always be found. I made major profit on Netherweave bags in WoW without leaving the AH. As a tailor I merely bought the materials when I found deals and flipped the bags. Sometimes you can just flip the mats . As long As its entertaining … have fun

Crafting allows an extra income flow and depending on what level you are can give you better gear to use. If …. If you end up starting into crafting late the gear will most likely be below your needs, but you simply sell it in the trading post or resalvage to continue to skill up until you find either a financial boost or enjoyable gear upgrade.

I will admit the chat system workings are a bit vague as well. I had luck with /map and then typing. A solid channel selection screen and tooltip would be extra helpful in this matter.

It takes time for some to grasp the economics of a system as opposed to being too focused on undercutting a competitor. During my 2 yrs in WoW I saw it all the time.

I have an early lvl engineer that I am enjoying … for my part … the rifle rocks. That should get you through to a point where you can tailor your build. Shrapnel fire is a nice dmg at close range. I forget the name but the 4th skill has a knockback fire that is almost a free evade and jump shot , the fifth skill makes my old Quake rocketjumping heart squeal in glee. Leave dmg where you came from make dmg where you land. Tip – let em close in and do both to them :P awesome!!!!

I have no issue with the travel or repair prices. Selling junk usually can cover a majority of that plus the in game quest pay offs. I dont even pay attention to the cost of those. Find an event in your starting area, collect your first payoff and you are usually golden after that

I have reported the powerlevel and gold seller spam each and every time it has occured. I applaud Arenanet for including this feature. These TOC violators chew up bandwidth and run shady websites that can harbor keylogger trojans and other destructive programs. I will always proactively report any scam/spam sites that end up in my mail or chat. My 2 min inconvenience taken to report is well worth the continued enjoyment of this game. Never be complacent … thats when the scammers win.
