1) Power is stat you go for if you want to improve actual well damage, condition duration doesn’t help extending the wells themselves but conditions you get out of them (suffering = vulnerability, corruption = converted boons), and yes they do crit.
2) If you’re planning on going the condition route then staff & scepter / dagger will be your best option for damage.
3) If you plan to stay at range then focused rituals will of course help a lot, other well related traits are up to you (bearing in mind vampiric rituals only affects yourself)
4) If you’re after all damage, then Corruption and Suffering are the only ones that deal actual damage. I’d suggest however if you’re going for condition damage you just use corruption & a supporting well (power, darkness or blood) because Suffering benefits mostly from power builds imo and you’ll want to bring something useful to the group. Use 2 wells and something else (epidemic for example, to spread conditions created from well of corruption, or Signet of undeath for the res.).
Dagger/focus & Axe/Warhorn is best for roaming power builds imo
As for utilities, Wells all the way! Suffering & corruption scale really well with power and you’ll be able to wreck ele’s / guardians or anything that favor’s boons by locking them in a well of corruption with dagger 3, if they get out focus 5 and continue to slash them.
Axe / Warhorn is good for control and getting out of sticky situations and don’t forget that death shroud is lethal with a power build (DS 1 & 4).
Wells are absolutely fine.
Couldn’t have put it better myself op! 10/10
From last night in EB, Enjoy ^^
What the hell were you thinking Anet? Why even touch touch a trait without fixing it completely? Reapers touch is still not affected at all, either state your intentions about it or fix it already kitten
You also messed up the sound on reaper’s touch, it’s almost like your saying
“we messed around with it, couldn’t be bothered, also we left you a nice tinny sound just so you know we’ve been here”.
Thought i’d post mine because im really proud of how she looks, goes with the kits perfectly. Bonus is i’m guessing it throws most enemies off because she doesn’t look like an engineer (without the kit equipped).
A reason you’re not seeing the damage output might be because of the mix of gear, ideally when using undead runes every piece of gear should have toughness on it, so Rabid is your best option for condition damage. I would normally recommend going for a mix of carrion & rabid but the vitality you gain from alchemy tree is sufficient enough for you to completely focus on going for full rabid.
Alternatively, blood injection trait will give the same effect as undead rune 6 slot, except it goes off vitality so swapping that trait in might help also.
Also corruption sigil for offhand pistol.

I never even used that trait once.. but anyway, other effect improvements to report?
Anyone else noticed this? Grenade explosions look better and fire bomb has a slight mushroom cloud, or maybe its just my imagination.
How about powermancer with 30 in spite and then 20 in curses for fury on DS and targettable wells? Drop marks and wells on a zerg from a distance and then switch to dagger/x to pick off stragglers?
Don’t bother investing in Curses, the precision is nice but that condition damage is useless. You get more out of the Blood magic & Soul reaping tree’s (lower cd on wells, free spectral armor, stronger DS etc) and you’ll be harder to kill while still doing crazy direct damage.
Least they could have done is fix spiteful talisman, Reapers touch still only has same range and CD with it.
That flesh golem model makes me feel nauseous if I look at it directly for too long, needs to not look like a unicorn turned inside out with crab claws.
So I got my axe today and had a blast in WvW, (I’m not sure were all these people saying “axe is terrible, needs buff” are getting it from, maybe they never fully specced & geared for a power build) first time I picked it up again since low levels.
Combined with a Warhorn it’s the perfect offset for roaming with a small group or solo. I swap to my staff instead of that when I want bloodlust stacks or in a larger group/keep defending.
Ghastly weapons are great, and go well if you have a transmuted wraith mask.
I’m currently using dagger/focus power build with staff offhand. Also saving for an axe to go with my warhorn for a “getaway” offset which could be fun.
Must admit I shelved my necromancer for a while at around 70 and only in the past few weeks have i gone back to it, got to 80 and geared up.
Don’t regret it one single bit.
I use a well bomber build with dagger/focus and staff, mostly berserker exotics (solider’s weapons + shoulders/gloves/boots). Met two gankers outside the spawn today and let’s say they were not expecting what I threw at them, one of them was a d/d ele who ran for hill’s when they realised how much kitten they were in.
Had a fun few weeks against you ROF & WSR and must say thanks for having really a mostly even match-up and good fight’s. However it must be frustrating for you this week though with the slight influx we’ve had in numbers as it is for us not having as much to do, although I think the most of us here on GH are quite relieved that our player drought in WvW is at an end.
Will look forward to meeting you guys again if not next week, cheers.
[quote=You have described perfectly how useless your build is for any purpose besides standing on a spot and not dying. For all other warriors that are intending to fufill a useful purpose…that means actually being able to kill something….then no…we don’t have all those things…hardly any of them. So yes…warriors do need protection…just not the useless, paper weight, warriors. The rest of us enjoy playing the active, mobile, damage dealing warrior. I would suggest they put protection in a place that bunker build warriors cannot access it in the trait lines.[/quote]
Oh yes having a defensive trait in a damage tree would make perfect sense!
And my build isn’t useless, it’s used to set up kills via stuns, dazes and knockdowns for other guildies who DO focus on mowing down other players. My toughness is equal to my power so i still throw out decent damage when im in range, otherwise im reflecting damage or granting mobility to my group.
I love this style of play, so don’t bash other players because they aren’t full zerker GS swinging kittens who die constantly because of poor gear choice, then come complaining about not having protection when you have perfectly good options in-game already to increase survivability.
I spend most of my time WvW in a tanky spec. I have around 2.2k toughness (2.1k without my shield) 2.2k power and just under 27k health (without robust buff).
Along with that I have adrenal health, healing signet and use mango pies.
I use warhorn offhand (traited) with sword and condition removal /transfer sigils on both weapons. Mace + shield as main weapons, weakness on mace 1, missile deflection on shield stance + mace 2, daze, bulls charge + stomp combo along with stability from battle standard.
Warrior’s don’t need protection (it’d be lovely, but we really don’t need it).
Hello, nearing level 80 soon and I’m a bit lost on what to focus on at the moment.
I normally switch between.
1) Bloodmancer healing build with staff / dagger & focus. Condition wells for support + avatar of melandru. (unsure on what set i’d use for this build)
2) Power / condition hybrid using staff / scepter & focus. Well of suffering, blood is power and epidemic with plague or hounds of Balthazzar. Most likely using a mixture of berserkers and a condition set (could you reccomend one?)
Are healing support builds effective enough for necromancers to be helpful(wvw + dungeons in mind), or am i better aiming for damage?
20/0/30/20/0
death from above, distracting strikes, missile deflection, merciless hammer, spiked armor, leg specialist, shrug it off.
Utility: Signet of fury for insta earthshaker, bulls charge + stomp combo. Banner or signet is up to you for elite.
Sword is fine, but I’d use mace to make the most of distracting strikes.
If you feel you are lacking damage you can always cut 10 points out of tactics and use unsuspecting foe in the arms line.
Use knight’s gems and a defensive rune set like Dolyak or Earth ones.
Edit: Would highly recommend dropping zerker gear + going for soldiers (p+t+v) gear instead.

Not sure about other servers but alot of the events here are stuck, been there farming for the last 3 days or so and seen nothing done about it.
Also wanting to do Arah Explorable with my guild + get my karma gear from cathedral of verdance but both of the pre-events are stuck /bugged.
Any idea when this will be fixed already?
Missile deflection and stomp his shadow refuge.
I can confirm this, this might need looking at!
OH Axe isn’t so bad, could use a bit of a buff I admit but for now its the most fun choice for me in wvw along with longbow.
From personal experience unless your planning on going condition build, Power/ toughness + vitality armor / trinkets are the best you can go for.
Why you ask?
You can go either way in an offensive build or a defensive build without having to farm armour for either one. All you have to do is swap your traits around + runes / gems to suit your build. Even as a “glass cannon build” you will still have the survivability you want and still put out great damage.
You can get this armor with these stats from AC / HOTW, Orr temple vendors or WvW (if you have badges).
Remember that POWER is the cake, crit / crit damage is just the cherry on top.
I main a Thief, if I meet a good Mesmer, I get destroyed.
I swapped from d/d to s/d and I still use the same build, 25/30/0/0/15.
Using toughness + vitality gear with damage runes + gems, overall im having great damage with decent survivability.
Mained a Rogue on WOW for a 3 years, I saw the GW2 Thief class a year before the game was released, followed the game news and played the betas. On game release I cancelled my subscription permanently and never looked back.
All of my gear is Power/Vitality/Toughness as a thief besides my chest which is Power/Crit/Crit damage.
Link to my build: http://www.gw2builds.org/view/837023/neivo_s_assassin_build
Only difference I have to note is I use sword/dagger now seeing as I don’t focus on conditions + the extra shadowstep is more beneficial to my play style, however the daggers are equally efficient with the same build.
IMO Basilisk venom is terrible in all aspects and needs to be replaced with something a bit more interesting / useful.
Salt, I get where you’re coming from and I agree I’d like to see other classes tweaked, buffed and nerfed where needed rather than the thief just stonewalled. The QQ Needs to stop.
P.S. Just wanted to point out that Engineers have even fewer weapon choices than we do
I’d say the engineer kits count as weapon choices.
The only nerf I was disgruntled about was Assassin’s signet, I liked having that one big hit. The current one is nice for chained abilities though like sneak attack, which is okay I guess.
I would like to see an offhand sword for thieves with something along the lines of:
4# Counter-reflect: Hold your sword infront of you reflecting incoming projectiles for (insert seconds here), if you are struck by a melee weapon you swing your sword in a cone in front of you inflicting (insert conditon).
5# Shadow slash: Hit your foe with a sideways attack inflicting weakness / vulnerability and knocking them back (insert ft here).
Also would love to see a Longbow added to our weapon set with single target abilities, have some sniper elements to it would be really nice.
Greataxe would make more sense seeing as we can already wield axes. Just have to wait for them to implement them. Also it would be nice to have a 2h weapon that focuses on power builds, Staff is fine for now but focuses more on support than direct damage.

Just in. The altar broke because of quaggan lightning storm halfway through assault on garrison, I gave the orb back to Kodash outside the inner gate. If anyone from kodash can read this in time, leave Garrison for us.
Not the case i’m afraid Anthony. The orb was actually stolen from Askalion Hills from an individual (accompanying people are to blame aswell) while Kodash were in control of it then placed on our Altar at Garrison.
So it’s a Hack, not a glitch unfortunately.
Just to let Kodash and Baruch bay know we are all infuriated about the orb hacker this afternoon. Most of us left garrison to be taken back by Kodash.
Deepest apologies on behalf of (almost) everyone and I hope you see the actions of one or few individuals don’t reflect on Gunnar’s Hold as a whole.
I hope they find out whoever did this.
Sincerely, Neivo[VS]
Still waiting for this to be fixed also.
