Here is my build I call Flame Juggernaut -

With this build you get to be tanky, with self healing, 200 additional toughness, faster heals, shorter elixir cool-downs, constant stacks of might (usually 8 at once), constant crits, vulnerability on targets, longer burns, faster skill cool-down and much stronger flamethrower damage.

Major

  • Incendiary Powder: 33% chance to burn for 2 seconds on critical hits.
  • Precise Sights: 50% chance to cause vulnerability on critical hits.
  • Fireforged Trigger: Flamethrower and elixir gun skills recharge 20% faster.
  • Juggernaut: You gain 200 Toughness while wielding a Flamethrower. In addition, gain might for 15 seconds every 3 seconds, as long as you remain in this weapon kit.
  • Fast-Acting Elixirs: Elixir skills recharge 20% faster.
  • Deadly Mixture: Deal 15% extra damage with a Flamethrower or Elixir Gun.
  • Backpack Regenerator: Gain regeneration when using a kit.

Minor

  • Evasive Powder Keg: Creates a bomb when you dodge.
  • Sharpshooter: 30% chance to cause bleeding for 3 seconds on critical hits.
  • Target the Weak: 10% increased critical-hit chance against foes with less than 50% health.
  • Target the Maimed: 5% increased damage against bleeding foes.
  • Hidden Flask: Drink an Elixir B at 75% health.
  • Transmute: 3% chance to convert incoming conditions into boons.
  • Energy Conversion Matrix: Deal 1% extra damage for each boon on you.

In the engineer vs warrior rifle match, the engineer’s rifle excels at controlling the enemy and doing more damage.

Only at short range, redundant for a long range weapon. At long range, the rifle has one skill that does damage, which is the auto attack.

Clearly when a long range weapon has 1 skill that does damage at long range, and that skill is only an auto-attack, something is very wrong.

There was talk that the Engineer was supposed to have a Shotgun instead of a rifle. Think about it. All of these skills scream shotgun. They just scrapped “Shotguns” and allowed Engineers to use Rifles.

If they were shotguns I wouldn’t have a problem with the current skill set, but due to us using a rifle, the skill set feels poor at best when needed for long range. Something that a rifle should excel at.

1500 is still extremely low. Why even bother with the mortar when you can use the grenade kit and get the same range, plus more damage?

The range should be increase to 1600 or 1700.

I hate the way the engineer rifle skills work too.

Compared to the warriors rifle skill set, we got crap.

  • Most of the Engineers rifle skills requires the enemy to be withing short to medium range to work, yet the rifle itself is a LONG RANGE weapon.
  • Meanwhile all the warriors rifle skills, with the exception of the Rifle Butt, can be used at max 1200 range.
  • To top it off, the range of the engineer rifle without traits, is only 1000, while the range of the Warriors rifle is 1200 from the start. On top of that, the warriors kill shot skill can be used at max 1500 range.

The engineer rifle skills need a serious overhaul, at the moment they just feel wrong and not very useful when trying to stay at range in battles.

COE - Subject Alpha needs a serious overhaul

Subject Alpha needs some serious balance tweaking. Here are the serious issues that need to be addressed:

AOE

  • Currently his earth AOE is MASSIVE, and is spammed WAY too often. The AOE circles themselves are HUMONGOUS, with 3-5 spread out across the floor in a way that leaves little room for dodging/avoiding the spell. More often than not you will not be able to dodge these massive circles, and even if you do dodge once, maybe twice, the third time you will certainly be killed because he spams them like crazy and you have run out of endurance.
  • The spell itself does so much damage that it kills a player instantly. I can live with this if the AOE was easier to avoid. But atm, one mistake will cost you your life.
  • Because he spams so much AOE, regardless of where you are in the room, and because of the MASSIVE damage each spell has, reviving your team, unless with an instant spell/move, is out of the option.

Crystals

  • Boy are these a pain in the kittening kitten Not only does he crystallize you, making you frozen and helpless to his AOE spells, your team can never break them down in time because they have too much health and armor. As an Engineer myself, my weapons are useless and miss far too often and do little damage when they hit.
  • Now lets say, by some kittening miracle you manage to break out of the crystal, he more often than not puts you right in another one. There needs to be a cool down for the same player to be crystallized so many times in a row.
  • Lets say you dodge these, sometimes the crystal is 10-15 ft away from you and you are still crystallized. I can’t even count the number of times I’ve seen myself and others dodge these only to still get crystallized.

Resetting

  • A few times Subect Alpha resets and either starts to regain his health, or resets completely and regains all his health. Nothing worse than bringing a boss down to 25% only to have him reset while your team is fighting him.

Walking the Green Mile

  • Boy is the walk back to Subject Alpha LONG! So long that by the time you get back the remaining team members are dying or dead. An additional way-point is needed on the map, preferably near the Husk Boss.

There is a difference between a challenging, rewarding experience that values a players skill and ability to cope and learn from a difficult experience and an experience where you can clearly see that the boss is overpowered, untested, and unbalanced.

Subject Alpha is clearly OVERPOWERED and UNBALANCED.

Now I want to be as clear as possible, this post is intended to draw attention to the flaws/problems of Subject Alpha. He has SERIOUS flaws and needs to be tweaked/balanced. I am NOT asking the devs to put him on easy mode. A challenging and difficult boss is always great thing, but an unbalanced and overpowered one is definitely not. I am refereeing COE path 2 last boss fight for most of the points listed.

This needs to be remade, I doubt they intended players to do this. I tried it myself and it is frustrating and nearly impossible to do unless you kite the enemies around.

They spawn too quickly, way too quickly. You get over run in a matter of seconds.

Anyone else get 45 badges instead of the 60 they are supposed to get the first time they complete a dungeon path?

My first time ever in coe explorer mode got me 45, while everyone else got 60. It was my first run, first time ever.

Not sure why I only got 45, but if a GM can give me the other 15 that would be great. I worked hard for these badges, and getting ripped of by 15 isn’t a great feeling at all.

On Botting and What We’re Doing About It

How about on the spot banning GM’s? An ingame ticket for botters would be enough to handle this. With the help of the society its really possible to keep botters/farmers to a minimum.

US – 11 GM’s
EU – 11 GM’s
French – 2 GM’s
German – 3 GM’s
Spanish – 1 GM (with English or any european country as 2nd option to help on spare time)

In total 28 GM’s for banning them on sight. Just to keep spots open for real players. Whether if its for WvW or just to get in your own server instead of overflow etc.
One last idea. EU GM’s would also be responsible of US servers. So that the US servers wont be full of botters at night. And vice versa.

Lets say couple of EU GM’s start early in the morning around 6 AM GMT +1. At that same time US GM’s are finished working and EU is taking over.

Darnit i really would like a job like this.

Any feedback on this guys?

Personally, I would prefer to see some of the forum mods moved over to be in-game GM’s. Right now it seems we have a much more policed forum than in game.

Why would you want a shapeshifting class? How would you be epic to show off your gear? Imagine taking the time to get a legendary, then transforming into a cat that looks like everyone else?
I would be ready to kill someone….. good thing i bought this game then .

This is totally pushing it but I’d like to see some of my gear on my shapeshifted forms. Even it it’s just the shoulders or something.

I too would like to see armor on the forms.

What about a Shape Shifting Class That swaps between Soldier/Adventurer/Scholar play-style. Rather than turn into animals they could Make themselves into an Avatar of Might/Cunning/Magic. Make them like a magical warrior class that stemmed off the Dervish idea. It would be fun all that would be needed is a look at what they would actually wear. Maybe Ill work on this Idea a little.

I like your idea, but I still would like this style with animals. I wouldn’t mind if the animal forms wore armor which would be really cool itself, and what I mean by animal forms is similar forms to what the Norn use, not actual animals.

A current area that I am in there was 1 bot, I recorded a video, posted it on the forums, and reported the bot. Now 5 days later that bot is still there and 2 more bot friends.

Its obvious nothing has been done, since the bot I reported is still farming. I understand data needs to be collected, but with the recording I made the bot is using mechanics in the game that simply don’t exist, so it shouldn’t be hard to identify this character as a bot.

Please get your act together Anet, these bots have got to be stopped quickly and efficiently.

To those that read this thread, and aren’t sure what the current form of bots look like, or what type of behavior to look for in a bot so that you can report, please look at this thread I made that details what behavior to look for.

A good portion of the medium armor in this game is just plain ugly, I don’t understand how they could have released these designs to the public.

It feels like a musketeer/van helsing fetish theme is happening with over half of all the armor.

Please for the love of god redesign some of the medium armor, they are fugly.

like a trench coat fetish… which I don’t particular don’t mind. I went with a lower armor level look since I liked it alot better. I just wish we had more variety of clothes a bit more for engineer. Though a fair amount look nice, quite a bit deters me. O well, not everything is going to be everyone’s liking.

I also main an engineer, and so many pieces just don’t fit with the class. Some variety in armor style would be nice.

So much of the heavy and light armor sets looks awesome, I wish the medium armor had the same love.

Its very clear you have never played an Elementalist, or you would understand how limited being stuck with one weapon type can be.

The Norn are a race NOT a class. So as far as I am concerned there is no shapes shifting class in the game. Norns get to shapeshift for a few seconds through racial abilities that have a 4 minute cool down.

A class that can do this permanently instead of a few seconds, is what the topic of discussion is about. If players are defensive because they want their Norn characters to be special or what ever, this shapeshifting class would also give the Norn a shape shifting class they could utilize.

People should look at it this way, take the concept of Norn racials, expand on its idea, make them permanent, and we now have a new dynamic class.

Punish the 2 handers because everyone being the same is punishing half?

The point is that one duel wield weapon should not cost the same as one two handed weapon. Players who duel wield currently pay double the cost of players that use two handed items, so I don’t see your point of two handed users being punished if in the end everyone pays the same amount; if these cost changes were implemented.

I find the chests to be useless.

They never contain anything I would actually want to use. The tonics suck and the rest is just junk.

I delete tonics as soon as I get them. If they allowed you to be in the tonic skin and use your skills then I can see tonics becoming popular.

If you guys at Anet want to sell more keys then the loot table for chests needs to be changed to something more exiting and fun.

Keep your signets, i’m fine with my elixirs and kits.

But I do agree, if your gonna give a class a speed boost make it equal to the rest. The Ranger gets a measly 10% boost while most others get above 25%.

Great idea. While the Norns can shapeshift, they aren’t a class. Its a limited racial ability with a 4 minute cool down.

A real class that has specific forms, each with unique combat abilities is wanted.

I’ll just add two things I’d like fixed/added to pets.

1st:
Toggle Auto casting F2 ability, make it not auto attack the target.
It’s so annoying that I have to pull my Moa back from attacking a boss that would one shot it every time I want my crit bonus.

2nd:
Disable pet aggro.
It pulls way too many mobs. This is especially annoying, considering even if you stow it, it will spawn every time you get hit.

I think the problem with pet aggro atm is mainly due to the distance your pet is from you. I can sometimes see my pet 15-20 yards away just sitting. The pet should keep a closer distance at all times to avoid unnecessary pulling.

Personally as a player I dislike using pets in general. So one addition I would add is the ability for the ranger to completely turn off pets and just play solo. Especially in groups and dungeons.

One solution I can think of that could be implemented without much difficulty would simply be to make the “stow pet” feature a permanent toggle—the pet would not come back out unless specifically called out. Falling damage, loading another area, taking damage, none of that would affect it anymore.

If that happened though, I would want a keybinding for that button.

This suggestion was already added to the first post, but feel to keep the ideas coming.

I personally like to the look of the Mistfire Wolf, who is wearing chest armor. It would be cool if our pets could be dressed up in a similar fashion.

I saw Guardian doing this to the bandits outside Vigil keep on the Crystal Desert server the other day. At first I suspected botting, he was randomly swinging in the air, till a mob got close…then he healed himself after the fight – so I thought it was all good. Then I got overwhelmed by some mobs and died…and this toon stayed right around my area, swinging around randomly. I asked for a rez, no response….then I noticed him warping around. I don’t play a guardian, so I thought that’s a neat ability they have.

But looking at your vid…match!

Now I know what to look for and report.

Glad to see these videos showed you what type behavior to look for in a botter.

New Undetected Form Of Botting Has The Potential To Crash The GW2 Economy

Today on my mat farming rounds I observed an advanced bot in action. Although at first I didn’t pay any attention because I was busy with my own duties, I later started to notice odd behavior and impossible game mechanics that warranted a closer look.

Please take note that the bot in question is a double sword warrior.

Two videos of the bots actions have been made – one has music, which I apologize for and the other has the music turned off so that you can focus on the bot without being distracted.

During my observation I noticed the following:

  • The bot has the ability to warp to various locations far beyond 1200 range.
  • Auto-attacks are quit often done hitting only air until an enemy comes within range.
  • The bot does not move at all and instead relies on the warp hack for movement.
  • Although it may not be in this particular video, I have often seen this warrior stealth in combat.
  • Auto looting is taking place.
  • The bot has the ability to recognize when it is at low health and use healing abilities accordingly.
  • The bot has the ability to use various skills such as signets, giving itself a continuous buff and faster farming capabilities.
  • Melee moves often hit far beyond its desolateness range, 1200 range and up which can be observed in video 1.
  • The bot is able to distinguish between aggressive and neutral npcs, allowing it to ignore the neutral ones and farm the aggressive ones only.
  • Although not always successful, the bot has the ability to distinguish high target enemy npcs and warp to them accordingly.
  • Although I am not 100% sure, it seems that this bot is currently undetectable by Anet.

I have seen bots like this one destroy economies within weeks. Just look at what happened to Diablo 3. If Anet does not take swift action to stop all forms of Botting, including afk macroing, then Guild Wars 2 is headed in the same direction.

There is never just one bot running, several are usually running from the same person, all at the same time. Which means the owner of this bot most likely has several setup across the world of Tyria, on multiple accounts – maybe even dozens. Not to mention the fact that other bot teams may be using this same method to farm.

Because a picture is worth a thousand words, here is video proof of the botter in action so that you Anet, can observe its behavior and take action to stop it and others accordingly.

Both videos were recorded today. Time indicated in-game is eastern/server time.

My opinion: Underpowered Engineer - It is realy bad at pvp and pve

The engineer needs some serious attention. Condition damage in general needs a buff in gw2, and since many of the engineers abilities revolve around it – leads to the engineers low damage output – this becomes more evident if you have experience playing a pure power dealing class. Add in abilities that constantly miss, get obstructed, are poorly designed and underpowered and you have the recipe for a class that is in trouble.

Many of the kits need attention due to so many bugs, the bomb kit in particular needs to be replaced with something that doesn’t place the player in point blanck melee range. Maybe replace it with that mine kit the revs ripped from away from the beta, or a sniper rifle kit, maybe a bazooka kit instead.

Two of our 3 elites are useful, while the other being a warrior/elemental ripoff is seriously not and will often never get used due to its unreliable nature and the fact that you have to be within melee range for either to be useful.

Rifle damage is severely lacking, and the move list is awful when compared to the rifle damage and skills of the warrior.

Turrets get 1 shotted by most mobs making them a liability and waste of a skill if used.

The Flame thrower kit is decent, when it actually works. The flames miss randomly far too often, the 2 on the flame thrower gets obstructed for any kittening reason, making it miss more often than not. The number 4 needs to be redone, something similar to the flame ring the elementalist cast is preferred.

Elixer gun has excellent range and a great aoe regen, but severely lacks in damage, the number 2 is somewhat useful for kiting but also suffers from extremely low damage. The number 3 has pitiful damage and needs to be used in short range.

Duel pistols are fairly decent but have moderately low damage output. Elixers can help with this problem, but that shouldn’t be the solution. The number 2 misses more that it hits. When compared to the duel pistol thief, the engineer duel pistol damage output isn’t as great.

I have not found a use for the Med kit at all, unless I want to use the speed boost while traveling. The healing elixir is far superior. A redesign of the kit is needed. Perhaps something similar the exlixer gun, a long range heal.

Wrench kit has some decent power, and maybe can be used to be more tank like since it’s a melee kit that includes an enemy pull as well as a 2 second block. The block should be increased to 3 seconds just like the warriors shield stance. However no player would choose the wrench kit when the flame thrower kit has superior offensive and defensive abilities as well as a trait that increases toughness by 200. A trait abilities are non-existent for the wrench, therefore making it a poor choice for a more Tammy play style.

Grenade kit is fairly good, however each grenade is an aoe skill, making it very difficult to use while mobile/dodging attacks. Great in WvW when you are defending or assaulting a base. Not so great when you are in pvp and being focused on, or in Pve and being focused on since you won’t be able to attack and avoid damage unless doing some serious kiting, which isn’t fun.

Our number 1 in the down state is extremely weak, and will often do very little to no damage to an enemy. So if you get downed your most likely gonna die.

The rocket boots, while a great skill to avoid CC and melee attacks, shouldn’t knock you down while using it, that’s just idiotic.

The aoe elixir skills in water are currently useless since even if I target an ally it won’t throw to them, and I can’t use it on myself unlike when I am on land.

Rocket, flame thrower, rifle and net turret are fairly good, however the cool down when using them, even if your turret has been picked up, is very too long. Their health is fairly low, and you will often see the get one shotted, especially in dungeons – making the. Useless.

Thumper is fairly good, but needs an increase in its attack range.

So far I see the engineer at the same place WoW Druids were at many years ago – skilled at many things but masters of none.

At the moment, anything an engineer can do another class can do far better.
