105 Magnetite-Shards
or how about nerfing the cost of gearing up for raid so there is easy access to all builds like how it was when the game first started.
Ascended armor is probably a really kittenty update.
Ppl have shown that you don’t need ascended armor. They run ascended weapons and exotic armor. The difference is much higher if you compare exotic weapons to ascended ones.
While the overwhelming majority is still sitting on killing the Vale Guardian and probably will never get it, only the known guilds have beaten Gorseval so far plus few others and that should be the reason to make the content harder?
I am fine with hard stuff, I liked VG and Gorsi very much but this game shouldn’t become an exclusion race with just 2 guilds or so on the top.
And you must not forget: It’s the first wing and nothing is “easy” here except for the hardcore players when the content is done several times.
Please chill a bit and when I am hearing many hardcore players in every YT-Vid so far crying out loud after defeating a boss I doubt that it was “so frickin amazing hardcorely easy peasy” and you can feel their relaxation after the success after a decent amount of work.

What about the Ley-Rifts? I thought they were installed to skip bosses after you have done them, so you can just travel to the boss you want to train on. Or are they only accessible when a certain boss was killed within that week and you can only rush to the next available rift?
If you can’t clear it in the very generous timeframe of 8min, then the mechanics clearly aren’t easy enough for you.
This is it!
Most pugs I’ve seen are usually dying before the timer is running out. If you can make it to the end of the time you just have to optimize the team comp or the builds.
Give it a month or two, and the first raid is going to be on farm for a majority. Then groups of more experienced players can bring in a few less experienced players and teach/carry them. I’d even expect it to get frequently beaten by players banding together through LFG. It’s not overly complicated, it just needs some practice runs and a go-at-it mentality when facing multiple wipes. It’s good raid content with just the right level of challenge to it, which will eventually lead to randoms being able to beat it too. The way it should be. New raid comes out, cycle repeats.
I doubt that the majority of GW2-players will be able to succeed without getting a patch on the raids (Anet pls dont in the next six months or so). The first wing is pure golden for me at the moment and i have almost fallen in love with this content! To be mentioned: I have never ever been raiding before but i have been a constant dungeon and fractal runner with and without Pugs over the last 1-2 years. The raid itself is so much different compared to the old stuff where you only had to react fast along with skill when doing content solo or with fewer ppl than 5. It’s very unlikely that all the Pugs I met will be successful in managing all 3 encounters. There will be Pugs getting it but not the majority of them.
Why does nobody ever quote the very next part of John Smith’s post?
Is the intention to deincentivize dungeons
YesIs the intention to reduce targeted liquid gold earning, or are you putting that liquid somewhere else thats targetable?
The intention is not entirely to reduce liquid gold earning, we’ll be using up the slack we generate in other locationsWhat type of instanced content do you see offering marketable rewards that players can take part in on a regular basis?
FractalsI feel like this is really clear. “Right now people run dungeons for gold. We’d prefer they run Fractals for gold instead.”
Ty for bringing that up. We can’t repeat it enough times!
I say trust because I doubt any one posting on this forum has a degree in economics as well as numerous years of industry experience in conjunction with the massive amount of data Anet collects on the economy. So until one of you are hired by Anet to balance the economy, I will TRUST John Smith with any decision he makes.
Well, that’s for me like trusting economists from banking institutions before the global economic crisis some years ago or Volkswagen nowadays…
When you reach the last platform you have to jump from to enter the Maw battlefield.
Only John Smith and his associates have the real data to back up their actions so we should trust that he is a capable economist and trust that his actions WILL benefit the health of the economy as well as the overall game.
Believe!
ppl start farming one specific fractal and lvl for gold
which one?
The chest with the gold reward was reduced by exactly 66% in every dungeon.
You will get an additional amount of silvers in the “event window” before you can quit the dungeon via the door button on the side including the xp-reward.
Nothing has changed for me.
Going into berserker mode is rng btw.
Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away:
- completing Fractal 20 reward: Asc weapon chest
- daily reward 1-20: Asc armor chest
- completing daily 15 reward: Asc ring
luck vs rng or rng vs luck , dunno…
It’s ridiculous. With the installation of map rewards and not nerfing event loots, farming in for example Cursed Shore is even better than before.
Over 9000+ Tears
Gimme moar plox!
Stack of 25 ;-)
Got these rewards in AC P1:
1. Event window after cutscene:
- 26 Silver
- 66.675 Experience Points
- 20 Tears
2. Chest:
- 50 Silver
- 40 Tears
Same for AC P3!
I think we can confirm a 66% reduction of the daily gold income in dungeons.

Well yes, that’s not ok, report them and move on. How many times does that happen? 1 out of 100 Runs or less.
So, in my opinion the system is working very fine. The baddies exist but they are not a big problem.
You can also play everything 100% safe with only two friends/guild members w/e.
It’s been around since the beginning of the game. Honestly, I’ve never done all of Arah and I’ve mostly stayed out of Fractals thus far to avoid these kinds of experiences. I have no issue using a meta build and gear, but it seems almost impossible to find a group of people willing to let you learn a dungeon/fractal these days.
Honestly, it’s tougher because the game is 3 years old. I am in the same boat re: Arah really. I still see plenty of lfg ads for people new to paths though.
This or the harder thing to do:
Open an own lfg like: “Px – new to Arah – could use some help – friendly and relaxed run”.
I swear, this group will be filled very fast and often there are experienced players joining because we almost all like those lfgs.
This happens in Arah A LOT.
It’s gotten so bad, players don’t even atempt to make groups to play it. All the groups have titles like
“pay me x gold to run it for you”
or
“Experienced players only, zerker meta, noobs will be kicked.”
This is because apparently fighting monsters is bad. So huge parts of the dungeon need to be run/bypassed by people who know the route already, or have a really good stealth/speed/regen build and have low enough lag to perfectly follow the leader’s speed run path.
I agree with the OP, there should be a “complain about player” option, for players who boot people because they hate n00bs or anyone who doesn’t run zerker or whatever the meta is. Then that player gets a tag that warns other player’s that they will boot or grief you because your build isn’t good enough for them.
I almost fell for it…nice one! 9/10
@OP: The majority of Pugs is working fine. Yes, there are some baddies but it’s negligible.
There is a bigger problem: People joining lfgs without meeting the required stuff, for example:
- “lvl 80 only” —> lvl 42 joining
- “experienced zerker” —> full cleric staff guard joining
- “lf thief/mes/engi” —> necro joining
- “no skips, relaxed run” —> thief joining, running apart and in the end shouting: “wtf u doin guys, get over here.”
Respect lfgs kitten , then you won’t have a problem in 99% of your runs. In the last 1% you will get that axxhole that is hiding in every online game so far.
I feel really badly for new players trying to get into fractals.
You don’t have to. There are possibilities for them to play the content, e.g. having friends, having a guild or just opening the lfg with “new to fractals, all welcome”.
Have you ever considered you are the exception, not the rule?
Pretty much this!
While his rotations and dps are still bad, he is playing a lot lot lot lot lot better than the average underleveled player we are carrying through AC if we are in a good mood.
I can understand the frustration of being kicked as a decent, underleveled player with low ap but the reality is new players being useless almost all of the time in these runs.
So OP, your videos and comments are worthless because you are not representing the majority of underleveled players.
(edited by Vinceman.4572)
“we are stuck with a nec who cant read lfgs”
And you are complaining yourself about the four others? Sorry, you have no valid point here.
Not reading lfgs is like acting as a pupil of a primary school.
So for example. smoke screen and static. The smoke screen area only covers some area of the static. I can’t blast them together? So I guess the common strat is to drop the static field at the top of shadow refuge and blast them to get both stealth and swiftness, right?
Enko already replied correctly, read pls:
Nope. First field down is the one that is used.
And for having both, the common strat in PUGs is to blast swiftness first and then stealth afterwards due to obvious reasons.

Well, the usual “lvl 80 exp zerk” PUG run without any wipe is quite fast compared to a coordinated speedrun. If you have the addition “meta group” you will achieve clearing times that aren’t very much longer than the record ones for the lower level dungeons.
And that’s why many players using the key words in the lfg above.
1st: “lvl 80”
You make sure that your mates would possibly have all traits, abilities and the stuff needed to prevent being a possible bottle neck.
2nd: “exp”
You are stating the fact that you want to have people that “know their shxt” (in short words)
3rd: “zerk”
Explains itself, people “knowing their shxt” don’t need any other gear than zerker gear.
So, after almost 3 years of dungeon existence in this game I understand people who dont want to have the lvl 36 class that is running directly into every corner pulling the last dust of the instance with white gear.
Most of the players running dungeons regularly wouldn’t mind a “0 dps support thief” or a “full cleric guard” as long as the group is working and you aren’t missing any damage by the rest of the team composition to be fast enough.
Persisting on “zerker” gear in the lfg is just to minimize the chance of getting players that aren’t efficient for a decent run.
The frustrating thing at this point I’d imagine would be people thinking that smoebody running a necro is going to make a meaningful difference in their clear speed as a pug.
The only frustrating thing is this:
After almost 3 years of GW2 99% of all pug-necros still fear the kitten out of the enemies so the others are missing their dmg skills (e.g. 100b, icebow 4 and so on) while the enemies aren’t cc’ed a.k.a. deepfrozen.
I’ve seen less than 10 good pug-necros in all of my dungeon runs besides the good ones which belong to the better playerbase from the fractals & dungeon forum.
So yeah, most of the necros are going to make a difference in a pug clear speed.
Sorry OP, but in your case nothing is frustrating. You were immediately kicked after joining so you lost nothing.
Besides that, if you really need to play necro in a dungeon, you will be able to open your own LFG.
You’ll also notice then that it’ll usually take longer to fill the group than with another class. Blame the balancing team not the players.
I would appreciate more options in the LFG system but it’s not its main problem at the moment like “instance hijacking”.
Don’t be so snarky. Maybe devs are trying to get to the Lupicus and check what’s happening but pugs keep kicking them for not being zerk?
Well Sir, you made a good day even better for me.
Most people cant even dodge grubs. They probably wouldnt have dps gear either.
It would be really stupid for anet to change a boss which has been considered challenging and well designed for the last 2 years.
I honestly wouldn’t call Lupicus well designed, perhaps just designed. Plenty of bugs, inconsistencies and trivial attacks.
For example
- Prevent instant reset at doors and Lupicus walking out of arena
- Prevent players getting out of combat inside the arenaPhase 1:
- Should attack more frequently (kick and infection) to increase pressure
- Infection should be an area attack with poison gas effect
- Locusts shouldn’t spawn behind wall
- Locust spawns should be normalized
- Roar should cause frontal infection cone
- Double effect of Empowered
- Remove or rework phase grubPhase 2:
- Add missing circles to frenzied blasts
- Fix bug with dash making Lupicus disappear
- Make sweep more faster and frequent to increase pressure
- Stop using bolt on close targets
- Remove safe zone (no melee hits or bolts)
- Remove reflect instagib: Damage cap/reduction or make projectiles appear higherPhase 3:
- Remove walling
- Stop using bolt on close targets
You can’t do that, your majesty. That would be….challenging too hard for PUGs…
requirements and at the end a simple: link aqua breather or kick
Besides the fact this thread is a troll one. What are the most used sentences of PUGs at the start of AC? Here we go, maybe you’ll have some more to add:
- “Stack doesn’t work anymore, it’s fixed.”
- “You can’t stack without having an ele.”
- “Do it the normal way.” (Our reply: “Yes, that’s why we stack here.”)
- “Poison is op.”
- “random insult. You guys are noobs. L2p!”
If it’s our run (only together with a friend because AC PUGs are getting worse not better), we will immediately kick such kitten. Asking before is a different kind but i like to punish unsocial behaviour.
Kill the gravelings, kill the oozes before you run up the first time and it will work as intended.
Ascalon Path 3 is pretty easy, if you know how to “spider” (with no exploiting!).
