Race changes should be possible, as it’s easy to wipe all personal story progress on your current character and have you start fresh. And if people want to pay to experience every personal story with a single character, why should that bother anyone, especially ANet? I don’t see any reason to ignore the desire for race changes.
It would cause problems with cultural armor the character may be wearing or has bought. That stuff isn’t cheap.
ACK…the Rainbow Jellyfish comment made me realize that when I went after getting all the pets, I forgot to look at the separate display box for underwater, which means I missed it and the Shark. The Shark I can get via normal means, but the RB Jellyfish is another of the HoM pets. Thanks for the reminder
So what is the answer…am I screwed out of getting these HoM pets just because I didn’t play GW 1 ?
You can still get them, you just need to buy Guild Wars 1.
just like it shows everybody Mistfire Elite skill ….
Uhm ..and there are 4 pets that you should be missing …where’s my sweet Rainbow Jellyfish ?
The blue jellyfish and the rainbow jellyfish share the exact same model and skin.
You need to own Guild Wars 1, and its Eye of the North expansion to acquire the points necessary to get these exclusive Hall of Monuments pets. The Hall of Monuments is literally a giant room located far north of the northernmost Norn map (if you’re viewing the Guild Wars 2 map) that has a small pool in the center of it and 4 banners (one on each wall). The only way to get to this hall/room in Guild Wars 2, is a special teleportation orb which is automatically given to you if you own Guild Wars 1. In Guild Wars 1, you can just walk to this hall/room. There are many guides floating out on the internet that explain step-by-step what you need to do to earn these points. There are also youtube videos available as well.
I named my pig Bacon. I named my armorfish Sushi.
I wish pressing f3 would actually make the pet run back and stand next to you. Instead, if you run for a second, stop, then press f3, your pet continues to stand 10 feet away from you.
Because it’s a juvenile wolf. All the animals that can be tamed in this game are the juvenile (younger/teenager) versions of their adult counterpart. As of right now, pets can’t grow up permanently, but there is a skill that let’s your pet become bigger for a few seconds.
I name my pets, but the problem is when pets are switched out, the names get reset back to “juvenile”. Swapping between your 2 “combat ready” pets doesn’t reset the name, but every time you want to play with something other than let’s say a bear and wolf, and you get out an eagle and a spider, then the new pets will not be named. When you get out your old bear and wolf again, you will have to rename them again as well. It becomes a super pain if you switch out your pets a lot.

The hawk has a brown speckled breast, while the eagle has a solid color.
The bald eagle icon for the juvenille eagle is correct. Juvenille eagles do not have white feathers on their heads or tails until they mature and are old enough to breed. If you look at the other mature eagles in the game, they are indeed bald eagles with the signature white head and tail. So while using a mature bald eagle picture for the juvenille eagle may be misleading, it’s still the same species, just a younger version.
However, for the hawk, I also think they should replace the current bald eagle picture with a hawk picture. Not to be picky or anything, but on the models, the hawk texture itself is extremely similar to the juvenille eagle texture. So much that if you renamed your juvenille hawk to “juvenille eagle” no one would notice.
I’ve found lots of keys (90% world map completion atm) and I have opened a LOT of chests. For the most part, I always get a tonic that can turn me into an animal for 15 minutes (novelty item). Sometimes I get another key, repair canister, a bank access card, and sometimes I get a booster of some sort (exp boost, healing boost, crafting boost). The only thing that’s always consistent is I get a tonic.
You can transmute the skin ONCE on any armor that’s equivalent to it. If it’s a medium armor skin, you can only skin it to a medium armor, not a light/heavy armor. Once you skin it to something, you can’t unskin it. You will need transmutation stones to keep reskinning it to new medium armor pieces.
“Because there’s a feature and automatically selected ‘match the lowest seller’, the prices stay low even for non-trash items”
Wait, WHY IS THIS A BAD THING???? I like to buy. I am NOT spending 20 gold for an undead mini pet chicken. I will wait until people undercut it to the point that I think is a reasonable price, and THEN I will buy it. Abyss dye is almost 5 gold. I refuse to buy it until it gets down to around 1-2 gold.
Who cares if people list up trash items? There’s a search tool for a reason you know. It’s not keeping me from finding what I am searching for, and it shouldn’t be keeping others from finding what they are looking for, so why is this an issue?
A 7 day expiration? NO! I like selling items too. If I am paying 15% of my hard earned gold to list an item, why should it expire, only to list it again? It’s just a waste of money to constantly keep putting the item up for sale. In other games, I usually end up vendoring things that people want because it’s too much of a hassle to keep re posting everything on the trade broker.
I don’t want player to player trading. All it does is cause chat to look like this:
Phantasm: WTS THIEF DAGGER EXOTIC 20G!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Abriel: WTS stack of 300 carrots 24 silver!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Charrzarrdroar: WTB leather!
Goatman: WTS TWILIGHT ARBOR SKINS PM OFFER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1!1!!!11!
Phantasm: WTS THIEF DAGGER EXOTIC 20G!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Really ugly. Usually when it boils down to this, people are using macros to spam their messages, or the chat is moving so fast you can’t read anything. I MUCH prefer the BLTC.
Close the game, turn off your firewall, open the game again and see if the BLTC works.
Not to be rude, but it says right on the item that it’s a skin and can only be used once. Transmutation stones are free. Just go to each zone and 100% it and you will get 3 transmutation stones per zone you complete.
What’s even funnier is if an item would sell at an NPC for 30 copper, and someone is trying to buy the same item for 15 copper, it won’t let you sell it to them. Instead a message pops up that says, “Items can not be sold lower than their vendor value.” So they can’t undercut too much, or no one will be able to sell them their goods.
There’s an event monster that spawns in owl’s abbatoir that kills all the owls. Just keep checking that area for when they respawn.
I like shortbow and longbow as my 2 weps of choice. My traits (starting with power) are 30/20/15/5. I like to switch around my first pet (usually wolf or fern hound) and I always have the brown bear as my backup in case my first pet goes down. As far as armor goes, I usually just slap on whatever gives me better stats than my previous armor did. I don’t have a particular set in mind, but generally items that increase power/precision/crit I favor. I’m very good at dodging and kiting, so this works well for me. This build can survive some hits, but do not stop moving if you are being chased by two or more mobs, or you will go down rather quickly.

How about get rid of the respawn timer and add it as a reward for completing a hard dungeon? Otherwise you get 50+ people camping the spot where the pet will spawn. Plus, anyone who can google gw2 wiki will know where to find all the rare pets anyway.
Whiners. I can solo my story quests at lvl 80 while my thief friend (also lvl 80 doing same story quests) dies within 1 minute. He always ends up asking me for assistance. Not only that, but generally rangers last longer in fights that take a turn for the worst. Plus, the pet makes a GREAT distraction for mobs in higher level zones if you just want to run past everything.
The blue jellyfish and rainbow jellyfish ranger pets share the exact same model and texture. Not sure if bug or intentional.
No you’re right. I’ve also noticed this and mentioned it in another post. I have both the blue and rainbow jellyfish (30/50 HoM) and I can safely say after switching them out in the game to compare them, they share the same model and texture. I have a hunch the blue jelly model stole the rainbow model. Unless the blue model was supposed to have all the colors in it…
I didn’t think this was a big deal until I played solo through a hard story mode quest. I was fighting a boss with my pet and a bunch of supportive NPCs. The NPCs started going down one by one. My pet was suddenly one-shotted by the boss so I switched it out at exactly the wrong moment. As soon as I had switched my pet, the boss threw a strong attack in my direction and one shot my bear. Then I was stuck with a crippled bear I couldn’t revive or switch out (thank you 1 minute timer) while the last surviving NPC was tanking the boss. I tried to revive other NPCs, but it was taking too long to revive them (as opposed to how rangers could revive their pets much faster than an NPC or other player). Not only that, but the boss was spawning adds that were constantly attacking me. If they hadn’t taken this mechanic out of the game, I could have retreated behind a pillar or backed up, revived my pet, and gotten back in the action to help out the poor NPC taking it to the face for me.
^ Giant hawks as described (bug).
The rainbow jellyfish shares the exact same skin as the blue jellyfish. I was sad when I saw this
I’m hoping it’s a bug.
Dungeons!
The first one is Ascalonian Catacombs. It’s east of The Black Citadel, and yes the rewards scale up to your level. So even though it’s a lvl 30 instance, level 80 exotic/rare items can still drop for you.
“She also mentions that she gave Caladbolg to a young Sylvari previously. Yeah, hi, that was me.”
-SPOILERS-
Actually, the Pale Tree gave Caladbolg to a First Born Sylvari (not you or me). I forgot his name. This firstborn Sylvari guy had a human apprentice, and together they went to defeat an evil undead magus or something like that. The human apprentice didn’t want to die so he took Cadalbolg from the Sylvari guy and ran away. The evil magus thing appears and easily kills the Sylvari guy because his weapon was stolen by the human. Your job was to get Caladbolg back from that human so the Pale tree could give it to Trahearne. It was never meant to be given to you. That’s why when the Pale Tree says she had given it to another sylvari, she was actually referring to the guy who died trying to kill the evil magus thing.
Change everything quickly. Email, password, and account name if possible. Make a free new email at aol.com (or whatever email you prefer) if you don’t have a new one to use.
I never had a WoW account or a Battle.net account and I get emails from them all the time saying my account(s) was banned due to suspicious activity. I don’t even use that email anymore (it’s for spam and sites that like to spam emails) so I’m not worried about it, but I would definitely like to agree with you guys and say do NOT share emails and passwords for anything.
If I remember correctly, my GW1 account was @ncsoft, not @plaync. Double check that last bit?
Still need assistance [120904-009514], Can't buy gems.

What does it say when it rejects your credit card? The same thing happened to me, and then I realized at the top right of the screen (where you fill out your credit card information in-game), there are almost completely transparent pictures of different credit card names (VISA, MasterCard, etc.) that you must choose before clicking “next”. It’s easy to miss because they’re very grayed out and can be hard to see. That’s why my card was being rejected (because I forgot to tell it which card I was using).
Account perm banned for 'helping gold seller'... by reporting him?...

If I had to guess, when you asked everyone in /map to report the gold seller, they weren’t paying attention and clicked on your name and reported you by mistake. I have reported many bots/gold sellers in game and have not been banned myself. I didn’t ask anyone to help aid me in banning them though.
I had to make an account through NCSoft before it would let me make a GW1 account. Through my NCSoft “Master Account” I can click “I forgot my password” and it sends me a new one to my email. Do you just have the GW1 game client via a CD? Have you tried going to NCSoft and making an account with them and adding your GW1 account to it? I’m not sure if the latter is possible, but giving it a try wouldn’t hurt.
